Party ideas for DS 13th?

My DS will officially be a teenager in a few weeks, though he has been acting like one for a few years already!

I'm looking for ideas of what to do, very difficult as don't know what's 'cool'.
He also doesn't really have a tight knit group of friends, he has had a lot of problems in high school and tends to go from group to group, so not really sure who we would invite if we decided on a party.
I looked at a gaming bus which he would love but it needs quite a big parking space and access to power so don't think it would work outside the house.
What sort of things did your ds's do?
A day out would be nice but again can't think where?
He is not being very helpful with ideas and is being particularly grumpy lately...

My DS wanted sleepovers with 3 or 4 friends for his 13th and 14th birthdays. WIth Dominos pizza and unlimited xbox.

(Sorry...)

One of my ds wanted a murder mystery party at 13, confused which was ok but my other son stopped wanting any sort of party at 14 so we had a family meal. Before that we had things like paintballing, trampolining, local pier amusements, cinema with friends, go karts, ski centre, can't think what else but the group got smaller as they got older

Does he really want a party?
My DS hasn't had one since he turned 12 (will be 15 next week!) despite having a big group of friends, having mates sleepover and doing lots of stuff with his friends and often going to parties, etc.

If he does, I agree: paintballing/laserquest/trampoling/go karting or just a sleepover with pizza and gaming.

What about a climbing wall party?

Or a Top Golf party? Brilliant fun for all ages. Very addictive too.

Have you got an escape room venue near you? We have one near us and it has been a big hit. My DS did it for his birthday party and they all loved it inc my DH and the other dad who came along to help. The one near us is called breakout games but I don't know if that's a chain name or if other ones in other parts of the country are called different things.

There's a driving experience party that I've heard of for teens - you hire cars and they get to learn to drive them for the afternoon. Think it's expensive though.
