My DS does Scouts and drama but he really wants to take up a sport again, in the past he has done football, hockey waterpolo and judo - but hes not interested in doing those again - does anyone have any suggestions?

TIA :)

My 13yo goes to a jogging club twice a week, it's more sprints and training than jogging. They also do field events in the summer for those that want to.
He is also considering starting triathlon after school club today.

Football, football and footballGrin The club is quite a way away so going to training takes about 5 hours on 2 school nights plus similar for a match every Sunday, plus school football matches, so no time for any other organised sport. He plays tennis/golf when he has time in the holidays.

Our DSs weren't interested in any sports at all, but climbed everything in site from being able to walk. We channelled it into indoor rock climbing which they loved. We did the belay course to make it cheaper, and enjoyed doing a bit ourselves. We also used it for a few kids trips for various groups we got involved in over the years. Something a bit different??

Triathlon ?
Another martial art?
Rock climbing?
Orienteering?
Sailing/kayaking / paddleboarding / rowing / windsurfing / canoeing ?

Just to be clear, these are just suggestions of sports, I don't have a ds who is doing all these Grin

My 14 yr old ds plays hurling and does athletics. He absolutely loves the hurling, that's his passion, he just does the athletics to help his fitness and because he likes being active.

DD does lifesaving, which suits her very well because she doesn't enjoy competitive sport. (And has the potential to turn into a well paid holiday job at 16 which gives extra motivation!)

Ds2 does ballroom and latin dancing, he also does kung fu so he can cope with the kids who take the piss because of the dancing which has taught him to walk away from trouble.

DS14 does rugby, scouts young leaders and drama. The drama is intermittent though, depend on school production schedule.

DS does ice hockey that takes up most of his time as he plays in two different age groups and trains 4 nights a week.

He also does a lot of mountain biking, he prefers downhill.
In winter he skis.

Mine does basketball, football, rugby and cross country. And athletics in the summer. But he is a Duracell bunny.

My DS is 12 but he likes playing football and rugby. He's currently thinking of joining a teenage boot camp club soon too.

He's also done athletics in the past. Would still be doing it if he didn't struggle with severs disease

Rugby. And more Rugby.
I think it was about this age he started wanting to do gym work to bulk up but we kept putting him off (they are too young - the skeleton still forming)

Rugby mostly, and basketball. And he runs, but only when the weather is nice.

He could try tennis. Think if he has played hockey and water polo he will already have good hand eye coordination. LTA website will help you find local clubs. It can be played at many different levels from social to national comp and all year round. My sons play football, hockey, (15yr and 12yr) and tennis (15yr) cricket (12yr)
