Anybody else's Yr 11's doing midterm exams and driving you bonkers?

My DS insists on doing his revision ALOUD

Very aloud. He says it helps. He asks himself questions "what is a quadratic equation" and answers himself. Or asks us. Or doesn't even ask just gives a fecking running commentary.

Be happy he's revising!! Last year my DD made up a whole song about chemistry to a pop song. She was very annoyed when myself and her sister could not stop giggling!

We have mocks in January so looking forward to a few more songs!!

I know. That is why I am keeping it zipped and slowly losing the will to live. I could sit these exams myself !

I am now being treated to impersonations of how the teachers walk around the exam room.

I think he is getting a bit overwrought Smile

Will he be done by the end of term? I have all of this to look forward to in the Christmas holiday. Note to self... Must buy gin!Confused

Mine is driving me bonkers due to his complete lack of engagement in the whole revision process. A bit of "overwrought" wouldn't go amiss, actually.

Thank goodness ours are all over by Christmas. The other secondary in town do their exams in January - sympathies, loveleopardprint - I'm not sure I could stand the stress of it hanging over us until the New Year!

I don' think these are his actual "mocks"

I am hoping he doesn't burn out before then. Although I think I am making him sound a lot more studious than he actually is. he does a fair amount of pissing about too.

I have a highly stressed overwrought yr9 & a barely-can-be-arsed yr11. Something in the middle would be great.

No, DS's are definitely mocks. Unless they sneak in some more exams in spring when I'm not looking. Gah! The summer is going to be hell.

I don't think he even knows what exams he is doing, tbh

My DS is doing mocks this week.
And I'm afraid I would love it if he did ANY revision.

Me: What exams have you got tomorrow?
Him: Dunno
Me: Well where's your timetable?
Him: Dunno
Me: Do you think you know enough to get a good mark?
Him: Dunno
Me: How do you think you got on today?
Him: Erm, dunno

The most I've seen/heard him do was when he asked me if the clavicle was the flat bone in your back? Noooooooooooo!

DD1 had her mocks last week. At least it was over quickly. The real things will take forever. Wine for all of us I think.

Ohgirlandboy I'm glad mine's not the only one! Mt ds doesn't seem bothered at all. He does stay behind after school to do revision classes but has done nothing at home and he just doesn't seem bothered He came downstairs this morning at 7:45 to ask if I could go over some History revision with him! erm no Hmm
I'm hoping his results will give him the kick up the arse he needs to get working.

Last day of mocks here.

Is it too early for wine?

Mine finished her mocks last week - they are drip feeding them results this week. There would appear to be a correlation between whether she revised for a subject and the level of achievement. Who'd have thought it........

Got an email today saying that mocks are from 4-15th January. Feel sorry for DD who will be revising all over Xmas after a very long term of controlled assessments and ISA's.
I'm sure we didn't have this much stress doing exams.

GCSE mocks a thing of the past for us but DC school moved them to October when DS2 was there. Not only that they were all crammed into one week.
Of course the full curriculum hadn't been covered but the advantage is that they are all over before Christmas and plenty of time to pull socks up if need be. Also the real exams are spread over weeks and weeks in the summer.
