I bought his sister a festival ticket for hers which she absolutely loved.
No way Jose for him, hates the idea.
Wouldn't like sentimental watch idea I hadHmm fair enough
biggest passion in life is music, very talented.... but though I love to hear him play, I don't have a clue about what pieces of equipment he would like.
I want to surprise him but it's liking like I'll have to ask him, boooo.
What did you buy your 16 year old sons?

You could hire him some time in a recording studio. Usually under £150 for a half day and includes the sound engineer.

Money/vouchers

My twins turned 16 earlier this year, this was all they wanted realistically. I also got them a bottle of perfume/fragrance each and some hair products etc.

What does he play? If he's a bassist or guitarist he'll probably enjoy a bigger or better amp and/or (yet another) pedal.

What about a 'promise note' of {insert amount you want to spend} to spend in a music shop - then he can get what he really wants, but it will be a 'particular item' he remembers you got him, rather than "just" cash which will soon fritter away if he's anything like my ds
