Help! Found stuff in iDD (15) bedroom and not sure what to do

My DD is lovely, does well at school (though I'm getting increasingly aware that socialising is more important than school work) but annoyingly borrows my make and clothes without asking so I make the odd foray into her horrendously untidy room to retrieve my stuff. Today I found a really pretty case so being nosy opened it and have discovered cigarette papers, rolled cigarettes & filters (one half smoked). I'm not even sure they are fags, I think it could also be weed in there too :( I know her new friend smokes (& her mum allows it) so I wouldn't be surprised (though as an ex smoker I'd be disappointed).
Do I contfront her or respect her privacy - she has a Saturday job so has her own money in case you wonder where the cash is coming from.
Any advice much appreciated x

If there's filters in the end it's not weed so better in that respect. Half smoked could mean she tried and didn't enjoy it.

I would find an opportunity to have a conversation about smoking and drugs - focussing on judging risk and safety - but not let on what you saw. She would only hide it better in future.

I would actually confront her. I think it is best not to play strategy games but know where you stand and have open conversations about this.

She may be during early stages and listen to your advice about it. You can both research stuff and talk about it openly.

Filters are only used for smoking roll up cigs, not spliffs.. Spliffs (pot) have rolled up cardboard in the end, usually torn from the packet of cigarette papers.

Pretty sure DS uses filters when he smokes roll ups containing tobacco and weed.
Mind you I also find lots of torn cardboard lying around too.

I've never ever seen anyone put a filter in a joint and I've got a LOT of experience in this area! But maybe it's sonething young people do??

I could be wrong then. I just know he smokes weed and I have found cellophane packets of filters in the house. Is it because they mix it with tobacco ? Or just for roll ups. ?
Never been a smoker myself !

It's normal to mix weed and tobacco but still no filters are used ime. He must be smoking tobacco roll ups too?

She could be inexperienced enough with drugs (good thing of course, if she's only just trying them) to think you use filters instead of roaches (the little rolled up bits of cardboard). Only two ways to know if it's a spliff. Either open it up and search for the bits of grass or crumbled dope, (google if you're not sure what you're looking for), or the easier way if you would recognise the smell is light it and have a sniff. Most users don't mix the grass or dope (the little block of brown stuff) in with the tobacco, but she might not realise you don't do this, so I would check that too. Might as well know what you're dealing with.

Sorry meant don't pre mix the gear into the tobacco pouch (because when rolling it's harder to tell if you've lifted a bit of mostly tobacco) but she might not realise this. Usually added to the mix in joint just before rolling, or mixed on a bit of paper and poured onto paper just before rolling.

Thanks for everyone who has replied so far. I looked for torn up card & saw no evidence (that was always a sign!) - I thought I smelled weed but will check out the contents when she's at school to confirm .. forgot the whole filters vs. roach thing ... it's been a 'few' years!! On a more serious note, yes, pays to know what you are dealing with. I think she's fallen under the spell of a 'glamorous' new buddy a bit so possibly trying to join in to be cool.
If anything, she's usually quite normal when going out to parties, always seems totally sober, no fag smell etc. when either me or DH picks up ..will keep you posted xx
