Ds 15 changed his life in a week

Been on here before at my wits end due to ds 15's lack of friends, school refusal, low self esteem and 24/7 obsession with screens.

That has all changed in the space of a week believe it or not! Feb half term Dh and I bribed him to go away with an organised trip (outside school)- along with a friend. He also knew a couple of others going. The group all bonded, he absolutely loved it, didn't bother with any screens/games as too busy socialising, now is organising an 'evening in' at home for 15 kids this weekend!

Well I wanted to post something positive for once!

I taught secondary for many years and a 15 year old boy who turns it around is a wonderful creature indeed. Well done your DS.

Oh that's fabulous. I do wonder sometimes if i back down too quick when my dcs don't want to do things. I will stand firm in the future and think of your DS.

That is great! So few positive threads about teenager boys on MN.
I have 15 yo DS too! He told me I must have love him very much because out of the blue I bought him his favourite fudge. I did it after reading another thread on MN this week where other mums were discussing how they show that they love their sons.
Food was high on most boys list so you can bribe him even more Grin

Zippy there was bribery involved! Goodpresent it was an amazing group organised trip to Israel. Stripy I am thinking of you, nothing hurts more than when they are unhappy. Antimatter I read that thread too. Ive always been able to bribe ds with food I think it's a boy thing!

Ds went to an 'evening in' last night and I enjoyed my evening so much more knowing he wasn't home alone with xbox! Thanks all for your lovely comments
