Dear all, DS just turned 14 and has been growing like a weed of late, size 11.5 shoes, almost 6'2". He has been really healthy over the years, so we have not seen a GP with him more than a handful of times in the past 10 years that I can remember. I have the feeling I'd like him checked out, just to see that his back is straight, his feet are coping with their length and his long body weighing down on the feet. Just general stuff. Do GPs do that at all? Is this is a weird urge? Input/experience appreciated...

No, GPs do not do this. Congratulations on growing a healthy specimen!

I reckon you can see as well as any gp could if his back is straight...

Surely he'd tell you if his feet hurt! Confused

I have 3 males in this house, their feet are size 12, 13 and 14. They cope fine with their 6'2, 6'3, and 6'4 bodies weighing down on them!

I reckon it would be ok, would consider appointment with the practice nurse in the first instance. Pn can do health biometrics. Other option is school nurse if your school has one.
Are you concerned? Does DS complain of sore feet, back?

thank you all- I am just very impressed by the rapid growth and DH has a horrendous scoliosis. Also disoriented because Germany (where we moved from 9 years ago) does do health checks for teens his age. Might just call GP and see what they say.

someone that tall should have big feet.

what would you expect the GP to do for anything except spinal problems?
