is a book of 'recipes' for making jewellery. They are clear, set out what you need and clear instructions. You could add some basic tools for subsequent birthdays.

There are a number of excellent Steampunk authors, Waterstones has a decent selection and the staff are usually very helpful and informed, so that you can talk about what sort of areas she is interested in.
The London Expo is at the end of October, it's a three day event and there are usually a number of attendees who will be dressed in Steampunk style, and stalls selling related materials.
It is a wide field, some focus on the clothes and the manners, some go for the tech side of things. Google steampunk artists and be amazed at some of their creations.
