ds has a deadline of midnight tonight by which to submit his GCSE PE coursework ...

has he done it??

has he fuck ....

given that PE is the only subject in which it's looking like he's actually going to get an A (as opposed to every other subject where his teachers say he's able enough to get an A but is too bloody bone idle ...) you'd think that he might actually have been motivated to get it sorted

amazingly enough it's everybody else's fault - mine somehow because he lost his memory stick and he couldn't be arsed to find it or get a new one, his teacher's fault because, actually I've no idea why it's his teacher's fault as I'd stopped listening by then

He seems to think that deadlines are only for 'little people' .... he's got just over half an hour and is still looking stuff up on fucking google ....

ok rant over,

and breathe ....

[where's the tearing hair out in the face of monumental teenage stupidity emoticon when you need it ...]

Stand back. It is his grades, not yours. If he fails it will be his fault and he will have to deal with it.

My daughter was off school unwell the other week, when I got a call from the school - the IT teacher needed to submit coursework, and DD hadn't completed, without it she'd only get a pass and she should be getting much more. I went frantic. Rang her and said 'Look, drag yourself to a computer and DO IT. And RING the school.' Did she fuck. And she is generally a good if lazy student.

Luckily the blessed teacher rang HER and was able to negotiate a few days' extension. But DD was so laid back about it, and wounded that I should have reacted as I did. Like you say, 'Oh I knew there was a deadline but not really when it was.'

Nice to know there's a few of them around. I was over-anxious as a teen and would stress but always get the work done. This laid-back attitude may be better in the long run!

Dare I ask if he got it done?

I would've been ranting too!

Can't help you, but sending sympathy. I was you last week, fussing around at 11pm. DS was so busy updating his FB page when I took him a cup of tea.

Allegedly - by the skin of his teeth

I wouldn't be at all surprised if his teacher emails me tomorrow to say he's forgotten to attach it though .. Hmm
