Db is 19 and is going nowhere. He is living with dsis who is working her arse off 7 days a week in two jobs to support them both while he sleeps all day, buggers off who knows where every night and doesn't lift a finger. She is getting his JSA paid to her bank account because he was spending it as soon as he got it and nothing was reaching her. Problem is that he can hardly be bothered turning up to sign on most weeks so he doesn't always get paid the JSA.
I have no idea how to motivate him. I understand that life has been shit to him, he hasn't had the same opportunities as his friends and made mistakes (like not turning up for school) which has severely impacted his exam results so he hasn't got much to show for school.
He doesn't know what he wants to do and never gets off his arse to do anything suggested to him anyway.
Dsis and I are seriously considering giving him the hard sell on joining the army, but would it help? And would they even have him?
Does anyone else have a troubled teenager and could give me some advice please?
Hi op, hope you are coming back to this and will pick up on the links flow4 has given. I came across a previous post of yours about family issues - your db has been through a terrible experience and presumably had a load more issues to deal with in his life as you have hinted at above. I hope you can get some advice to help him build a better independent future.
