DS going to Ibiza tomorrow with a mate - what have I/has he forgotten

Passport - check
Easyjet boarding passes - check (he's going to get a shock when he goes on Easyjet!)
Printed hotel confirmation - check
Euros
Eurocard

He's 17. He's been to the States with this friend before when they were 15 with no adults around, and chose this mate because he knows they won't fall out.

Should he take anything other than the above and a few t shirts and shorts?

probably a bit obvious but condoms?

Report
mumblechum1 · 21/07/2012 19:02

titty condoms? Don't be ridiculous, he's never going to have sex until he's at least 30, and then only with a nice girl whom I've previously had vetted.

(ie,Yes, I'm presuming he's sorting those out for himself Grin)

There was a lad on Sex, Sun and Teenage Something or Other the other week whose mum had bought him condoms when he went on holiday

paracetamol for hangovers
suncream

Report
DiscoDaisy · 21/07/2012 19:08

Condoms, paracetamol and lots of sun cream would be my suggestions.

DiscoDaisy · 21/07/2012 19:09

Plenty of euros as the club nights are quite expensive!

Good thinking re. EHIC card, it's knocking around somewhere, and definitely paracetemols.

Can't get him to wear suncream as he's mixed race and convinced he can't get burnt. I've given up that battle now.

He'll have 500 Euros for 5 days so hopefully that will be enough.

God I can't buy condoms for him. He's hopefully got enough nous to get some himself.

Vodka and cokes in the big clubs can be between 10-15 euros but there is lots of vodka in them. A small bottle of water at the big clubs can be as much as 8 euros. Then there is the cost if the tickets for the big clubs.

Definately condoms!

I'd still make sure he took condoms. I don't have a son yet but if I did I'd try to overcome the embarrassment factor. Health is important. Agree with popping some in his case.

DD, they are ridiculously expensive; I think the plan is to go to maybe two of the big clubs like Eden & El Paradis after they've had a few drinks, and the other nights go to the cheaper ones. He's expecting to pay up to 50 Euros to get into the big clubs, which is why they won't be going to them every night.

It sounds like you are experienced!

MIL put condoms in dh's case when he went away at 17. He was shocked but grateful as he was too embarrassed to but them himself. (it was 20yrs ago).

I would definitely do this if I were you.

My OH and myself used to go every year until a couple of years ago! Sounds like he has done his research!
We would sit down before we went and picked out which club nights we wanted to go to! Make sure he finds out about the Disco bus!

He gave me this look Hmm and said God, the talk I was dreading. Of course I've got condoms

Disco can you recommend any night clubs for the 3 nights when they're not going to the mega expensive ones please?

And yes, the Disco bus sounds excellent.

mumble - you didn't reply to the prompt about travel insurance: do make sure he has the policy reference and the phone number, as well as phone number for British consulate. NB some travel insurance isn't valid if you're drunk when incidents happen

get him to take his bank card so you can transfer him some money if he has an emergency

Well done for asking Blush

I always take a pillow case abroad. Some of the dingy self catering places I stayed in as a young lass were dire. But I'm a girl and like things like that. Wink

On a similar note: toilet rolls & tea bags.

Insect repellent AND spray for when bitten

Travel iron? (I know boys nowadays like to look good!)

Disco, San Antonio. 5 mmins walk from the West End.

He doesn't have travel insurance, I'd forgotten about that so thanks for reminding me, I'll sort soem out online now.

Re. money I just got him a Euro card which I can, in an emergency, top up online for him. I've also bunged an extra 60 Euros on now so he now has 560 Euros for 5 days.

No way will he wear sun cream, he's an idiot but he never gets burned so he doesn't see the point. I have spent years trying to get him to wear it.
