He really thought he had passed last time. His instructor said that the examiner said to him that he nearly fell asleep he felt like he was being chauffer driven, then ds drove to close to a parked car and he marked that down as a major and he failed him. He only got 3 minors as well.
Ds was gutted. I so so hope he passes because it would be such a boost to his confidence.
Ds1's instuctor is great, he has an 83 percent first time pass rate and dh has known him 30 years. He has offered to sit in on the test with ds but ds doesn't want him to. He only had his last test 3 weeks ago , and his instructor says he is a really good driver.
His test is this afternoon, he is still in bed atm. Think I am going to go out at lunchtime and let him get ready on his own as he would prefer it.

Good luck to him!
My DS has failed 3 times also.. and just like yours, with ONE major after a near perfect drive. He hasn't rebooked because he has lost faith in himself:(

FIngers crossed your DS passes today:)

Ah thanks, so sorry about your ds. He didn't want to rebook at first but he then did it that night. Have no idea what he will do if he fails. The theory lasts 2 years and he took that last August so has a while before he has to retake it. Yes, fingers crossed Smile.

Fingers crossed, I hope he passes today. I had one who passed first time and one who took two attempts, I remember the nerves of test day well.

Good luck!
My DH and a good friend both passed 4th time and are both excellent drivers.
So even if he doesn't pass today he must keep the faith that it's not only the 1st and 2nd time passers that make good drivers and he absolutely can do this! Smile

Excellent.

Does anyone mind explaining to me what these 'minor' and 'majors' are, and how many mean you pass/fail please ?

BackforGood, minors are a less serious driving fault and majors a a serious or dangerous fault. Think they are allowed 15 minor faults or around that number but they fail if they make one serious or dangerous fault. Me too I took my test way back. We didn't do a theory they just asked you what about for or five signs meant out of the highway code book. I still had 4 test though Grin. Thanks everyone for your congratulations. He has just put on his cv - I have a full, clean driving licence and is really proud! Bless x
