Help 17 Yr birthday of daughter in a few days - what to get??

What should I get for a spoiled 17 year old - she wants driving lessons but has not sorted her provisional licence yet... and I want something to wrap. But she has more than any child needs, frankly, IMHO! But less than most of her friends according to her, IYKWIM!

I usually do a main present (in your case the driving lessons) and then a 'bag of bits'.

Made up of maybe some nice make-up (benefit, bobbi brown, nars etc) dvds/wii games, perfume, books, a piece of clothing, couple of accessories and some posh chocs.

Or what about buying her a special dress or outfit from somewhere like Reiss/Whistles/ French Connection, just something she might consider special as opposed to usual clothes purchases?

What about a Pandora bracelet? Or is that not a big enough present? What about a spa weekend for you and her?

Give her a voucher for the lessons? It is hard to choose something as at that age they often like to choose themselves - could she give you a list of smaller things she would like and then you can surprise her with a selection. I did this at Xmas and got my DD some MAC brushes she particularly wanted, some perfume (that I would not have chosen) and some books etc.

take her for a shopping or pamper afternoon and buy something en route that she liked or a product she liked at the pamper. I sometimes go up to London and we do this and maybe go for a meal and take in a show and get a late train home.

All sound great - I am forgetting that I did manage to get her tickets for the upcoming Jessie J concert!! (Mumsy scores many brownie points!) So anything wrappable will have too be small (in value I mean) althought the tickets were incredibly reasonable!
BTW, as you all worked out, it was a cooking course that I was considering not a cooling course. I don't think she would need the Cooling one!!
