I have only just found out that my son is an alcoholic. This news has left me feeling physically sick and powerless.
My first instinct has always been to reach out, grab him by both arms, and pull him from the water. Having read up on Alcoholism I now realise that there is little or nothing I can do to help him and that he has to make the decision to seek help by himself.
He moved to Denmark in November and I now realise that this was probably to spare me in some way. We have always been very close. I have brought him up from a baby. (Single parent). Is there anything I can do, and how can I learn to cope with this situation? Does anyone have any suggestions? He does not want me to visit him.
Thanks.
