I have a lovely, caring, pleasure to be around, etc., 15 year old son. He was great at school academically, but in the past 2 years, he doesn't make any effort to do his best(or even try hard) at exams, homework, etc. Its really worrying me as I feel his life is going down the loo, and no amount of talking to him about it is working. Anyone got any ideas? Or maybe went through this? Thanks.

I found that with DD2 the more I nagged her the less she did. I learnt to let her get on with things and just occansionly ask her about coursework and homework. She is now at uni and works hard.

Are his friends the same?

What is he interested in?

Could you set him some incentives/rewards for doing well?
