Where do you put your GP cage?

I really fancy getting guinea pigs. We had some as children, are currently pet free and would love to have some again. They seem to be the most suitable pet for us. Where do you keep the cage? I was thinking about putting them in the conservatory? Would that be ok? I guess when it is hot in summer we could keep them in a shaded spot on the patio.

Conservatory is too hot in summer and too cold in winter - they don't like extremes. We have a conservatory (hate it) which is not particularly in the sun but is too hot for me from May to September so I wouldn't let my pigs or bunny live in there (bun has free access but spends the summer in the living room).

Our pigs live in the utility room at the moment. They have been in the kitchen and the dining room. They love it as they are near the food cupboard and can still hear the fridge door being opened.

They need to be in a sheltered spot, out of direct sun and away from radiators.

Our girls' hutch is next to the chimney breast and opposite the living room door. From there they have a good view of me sitting on the sofa and any move I make towards the fridge kitchen.

Very desirable location Grin

Fortified, does your living room not get strewn with hay and bedding? Hmm

Millimat yes it does and not just the living room, gets everywhere. Its a losing battle with the hoover. Its because their hutch it meant for the outside. Its not an inside one with a plastic tray thingy. Long story why they came inside Wink

Hay gets in the washing machine too. There's nothing worse than picking small bits of hay off tights.

But they are my furry babies and I love them and wouldn't have them living anywhere else. I have a long suffering husband Grin

Millimat - we get hay in our living room and our pigs are in the utility. You have to walk through 3 doors to get to the living room from there. I don't know how they do it Shock. They only come into the living room when invited and are carried through without hay.

Actually it's probably Current bun who brings it through with him.Grin

There's more gerbil food in my Hoover than there is dust. I don't know why we do it.
