Is this type of cushion ok for guinea pigs?

We live in a cold house and temperature has dropped here a lot in the last week. The guinea pigs don't seem cosy enough to me in their indoor run so i bought a little cushion to put underneath their igloo. It's one of these - sort of faux sheepskin on one side, fabric on the other with a thin cushion inside. The cover is washable.

cushion

It is actually a dog cushion. I put it on for a trial run and they seem to like it.

Anyone know if it is ok to use this type of thing in the run? We have stuck to newspaper and hay so far.

My guineas had a couple of cat bed type cushions for indoors. One has a higher side and a removeable cushion.
One is flatter and bigger.
I used to pop them in a pillowcase to wash (otherwise you risk getting hair and hay in the filter) either with Ecover or those wash-ball things.

They are contrary little beasts, they will sleep (and pee/pooh) in it one day and ignore it the next.
The boars always liked a hay filled trug to sleep in , or a folded up towel.

Check it regularly to make sure they're not chewing it, make sure they can't get hold of zip tabs or labels (in case they choke)

Some owners like VetBed , but it is £££.

(It IS getting chilly now, glad it's not just me. I told DH I'd given the guineas a deep hay bed and I hoped they'd all cuddle up together. He was Hmm )

Thanks. Definitely chilly here. I took off the label and zip well hidden underneath, just have to hope they don't start nibbling it now.

Looks like I'll have to buy a second one. Missbossypants Gp1 is keeping it all to herself right now.

Gp2 looked so snug sitting with her but she seems to have been evicted.

Colder here too Hmm. My poor GPs are very judgey about having to come in at 6pm. They want to stay out and play until 9pm still but it's too chilly.

I use lots of hay and old towels for snugness. I also have an off cut of carpet under their indoor cage to make the base warmer and at night they are covered with a blanket. During the coldest nights last winter they had a duvet over them too.

Ours were in the run till 7pm (it was still mild, they have tunnels and shelters)
GP3 and GP5 were in the far corner with their heads up staring over the fence at my NDN garden. No idea why.
Not a pitiful bring me in now look.
A "What;s the Game" look .

Then ran round daft for a while. Grin
