Hamster not quite herself

I posted on here a couple of days ago, asking for advice on a large cage for our 4 month old syrian hamster and have a larger cage on order for her.
I have noticed the past few nights though, that she is not really getting up like she usually does during the night. She lives in my sons room, and we both sleep with our doors open so I generally hear her on her wheel or just scuttling about as I'm a light sleeper. Also when I go up to bed I usually find she is awake and sitting up when I check on my son, but the past few nights she has still been asleep.
I cleaned her out on Tuesday night and I have noticed she has a few piles of food stored in the corners of her cage, so she is getting up but not as often as usual, and just for fairly short spells.
She is only 4 months but she is acting like an old hamster. Does anyone have any ideas what might be the problem with her?

Could be anything
My hammy goes through stages of sleeping for England then wide awake all the time demanding attention. Maybe just settling in, the weather seems to affect mine a little as well. Storing food is v normal though, mine has a constant stash in his bed (except for spinach which he has to eat immediately!)
Just watch food intake, droppings, water, clear eyes etc

We have had to put the poor girl to sleep, just got back from vets. She had wet tail and had got quite poorly over the last few hours.
Sleep tight beautiful Paquita xx

oh Sad

I've never kept hamsters but it is sad to lose any animal . 4 months is so young too.

Is your DS room too warm for her?
I remember reading one Rescue Website (Guinea-Pigs) and they wouldn't allow rehoming to families if they intended keeping the guinea in a childs bedroom.

Sad for DS too.

Just Googled "Wet Tail" (as I said, I'm not a hamster person)

Poor hamsters, sounds horrible.
The site says it's stress that causes it, usually young ones that are moved from one place to another.

I suppose look back and see if there was anything going on that might have caused stress or change to the hamsters routine?

I don't think his room has been too warm, especially when she started getting poorly its been quite a bit cooler here. There has been no change in her routine that I can think of either; we have treated her exactly the same as our previous 3 hamsters.
I think we are going to wait a few months before we get another one, as she was our third hamster to die this year. Silvestre died in April, although he was an old hamster, then we got Rodders who we had a month and then he died (Pets at Home said that 2 other hamsters sold from his litter had died before Rodders did when I got in touch with them), and now Paquita. I think we might try to get one from a private seller next time too.
Thanks for replying and your advice.
