Our lovely boy was pts this morning, the vet diagnosed a brain tumour.
He was our first hamster, we'd had him 18 months and he was so affectionate and sociable.
He came out for play every evening and loved to scramble about on the sofa, or in his ball or playpen.
He'd climb up and down dh and me, and was utterly fearless (he seemed to know we'd always catch him).
He was only ill for a few hours before we took him to the vets, but we're devastated, I can't believe how attached I was to the little guy.

:( Im sorry
We lost our first Hammy a few months ago. I was devastated . I seem to get so bloody attached to small furries !
Lots of people don't realise what brilliant little characters they are!

RIP little hammy!

Very sorry to hear this Sad ... they are lovely little creatures, aren't they? At least he didn't suffer for a long time.

Thanks to hopefully cheer you up a little bit.

Thank you, the vets were lovely (I called the emergency line at 6.30 this morning and they told us to come in at 8 for the first appointment), DH the kids and I were all in tears, we've spent the day talking about Harry and his lovely, funny, quirky traits.
DH and the kids went out and bought me lillies, and we've put them where his cage used to be, they're Harry's flowers Smile

I've never had hammys (mice and GPs) but they are sweet little things.
All rodents seem to go downhill so quickly.
It's a difficult decision to have to make though, especially when you have to explain to the DC.

Just had to have ours pts just now. I am so gutted I can't stop crying. Dh thinks I'm mad.

Are you feeling any better? Ours was also 18 months old. Will you get another?

Kids don't seem as bothered as me. Dh doesn't seem bothered at all. I'm weeping :(
