New shiny topic. Resonates with me as DH and I have both battled our demons during difficult times.
He left, but I hoping that maybe we can reconcile. Our 'coping strategies' due to horrendous personal circumstances created more problems. We were never big drinkers, or anything similar. However, in the end we were exhausted and using legal stimulants just to function. Let's say it does your head no good at all.
I just want our sober and coping family back again. Any similar experiences very welcome.

Hi OP, just checking in to the new topic! I don't have any history of addiction personally, but used to be in a relationship with a drug addict. It was very hard! I can imagine if you had the same problems yourself it'd be so very easy to enable and excuse one another for using/drinking. Do you have kids?

Hello MrsJuice ! Yes, finally an addiction topic, I've asked several times smile

Really glad things are looking up for you, are you finding staying straight easier now?

Yes. Much easier.
I was never a drinker, so that's a non issue really. As far as stimulants are concerned, I am advised to cut back, but cannot function without some kind of alertness kick. I'm mainly using caffeine, which isn't ideal, but it's OK.
I just don't really know where DH is with all this.
Neither of us have relied on these crutches before, so I think it's been a wake up call.
We had several DCs, but we've not been getting wrecked, rather just a necessary daily drink to manage the day.
Anyway, I'm exercising now, which is helping.
Onwards and upwards!
