so....looking at uggs. they may not be the most stylish boot,I know....

I cant decide between the long ones (like triple bailey button or classic long) or the shorter version (bailey button) I dont like the mini ones.
so
long bailey button/classic long or
short bailey button/classic short.

what do you.have and what do you wear them with?
I want them to wear with skinny jeans/leggings. which is best?
ta.

I've got the short bailey button and I wear with everything skinnys leggings mini skirt thick tights and dresses with thick tights
Oh and Sunday I had them on with a pair of joggers it was my hungover look wink

I'm going to treat myself to the short short boots

TheJumped Tue 04-Mar-14 11:01:46

I do love the Bailey button style, but I often see the longer ones which have kind of flopped open to the side and they look really scruffy like that. So I'd go for the short ones. I think they look best with jeans and a plainish top, like a fine knit jumper or a t-shirt or jersey top. But as you say, UGGs aren't always about wanting to look good, they're pure comfort too so whatever you like really!

TheJumped Tue 04-Mar-14 11:03:27

I have grey short UGGs and wear then with skinnies and jumpers and scarves. I don't have any jumper dresses atm but if I did I'd wear them with them too!

ThatVikRinA22 Tue 04-Mar-14 11:14:02

so....short bailey buttons....i did wonder if the long bailey button ones would start to gape.

what would you wear the classic long with? on the websites it tends to show them with skirts - now i do wear a lot of jumper dresses with thick tights, and also skinny jeans and leggings.

would the classic long boot be suitable for casual wear with jeans etc do you think? or are they more for wearing with skirts?

faustina Tue 04-Mar-14 11:28:43

I've never worn my long uggs with anything other than skinny jeans/leggings. I think they might look a bit odd with a skirt - not quite sure why. Perhaps it depends on how slim/long your legs are? They are wonderful, but not exactly flattering!

ThatVikRinA22 Tue 04-Mar-14 11:32:11

legs are my best bit.....long in proportion to my body and slim. (i hide my hips and tummy with long tops!)

i cant decide whether to go for the classic long or shorter ones - short ones seem trendier but im not really trendy and i tend to wear long boots...
decisions decisions.

Skivvywoman Tue 04-Mar-14 11:35:43

Go for the short ones they go with everything smile

faustina Tue 04-Mar-14 11:39:31

go somewhere like office, where they always have the whole range and try both on? Or order both pairs and send one back? (if they do free returns)

HappyAsEyeAm Tue 04-Mar-14 11:53:11

I have the bailey triple buttons in grey. I love them. They haven't flopped at all. The reason I bought those instead of the tall classic ones if that the tall classic ones were too tight on my calves. I have size 3 feet (so 3.5 in uggs) and I find that the smaller the shoes, the narrower they are on the leg. I wear them with skinny jeans/jeggings and also with opaques and casual skirts like denim mini skirts and coloured opaque tights. So so comfortable.

Vickiyumyum Tue 04-Mar-14 11:57:30

bailey button shorts. I wear mine as slippers as I don't wear jeans/skinnies or anything that would go with them out of the house. For t home with pj bottoms/yoga pants they are warm and comfy, and good if I have to pop out and put washing on the line etc.

Oh and I have the mumsnet even more hated version, the bailey bling in black, lovely shiny button wink

Sixpencenonethericher Tue 04-Mar-14 11:59:03

I have long ones and bailey button long and I prefer the long ones because my bailey ones flop at the top
Skinny Jeans and legging I wear

Vickiyumyum Tue 04-Mar-14 11:59:07

oh they don't seem to do the short now in the bling only the mini.

ThatVikRinA22 Tue 04-Mar-14 12:02:15

so happy your triple button ones havent flopped?

maybe i should go and have a look and try some on - i do tend to like longer boots which is why i was wondering about the triple bailey button on classic long.

im still none the wiser! happy do you normally have any trouble with getting boots to fit around the calves? ive never had any problems but had heard the classic long are tight but do give with wear.....

ThatVikRinA22 Tue 04-Mar-14 12:11:29

sixpence - how did you find the classic long fitted? were they ok around the calf?

TheJumped Tue 04-Mar-14 12:37:27

Just checking you've seen the post on here on where to get bargain UGGs Vicar? If not have a look! I got my Swarovski encrusted grey short ones for under £50 brand new perfect conditionsmile

ThatVikRinA22 Tue 04-Mar-14 13:34:48

yes thanks, cant pay full price! keeping my eye on the site. need to get my refund from the faulty rocket dogs. ...then going to try uggs. smile

HappyAsEyeAm Tue 04-Mar-14 15:31:14

Vicar I have small feet (size 3) and I have had a few issues in the past about getting knee high boots to fit on the calf. I find that the side adjustible ones are usually fine though. I don't have to look too far.

The tall c;assic uggs were too tight though on the claf. I couldn't pull them all the way up, and so they looked like they had slipped as they wouldn't come up high enough. It iwas the edging at the very top round the leg that was the problem, as there is no give in that.

Myy triple baileys have not flopped in the slightest. I am really pleased with them. I ahve them in grey, but I would also like them in brown or black. maybe next winter. They are bloody pricey at 210 ish. Though I do keep checking the bargain site that you linked to a couple of weeks back. Office also did 20% off everything in November or so, and that included their triple baileys. They didn't do them in the grey though.

faustina Tue 04-Mar-14 19:44:46

I didn't find the classic long ones tight. I tried the bailey button long, and thought they added quite a lot of bulk - so less flattering

ThatVikRinA22 Tue 04-Mar-14 19:47:37

thanks - i think i will either have to order more than one pair or go and try a load on first before i order....

thanks for the help though - i think im narrowing it down!

ThatVikRinA22 Thu 06-Mar-14 01:03:43

well. i am laid up in bed with flu (proper flu! certified by gp! grin so i have sent for 2 different styles - the classic long and the bailey button, in 2 different colours.

im not going to look at my bank statement......im still waiting for a refund on some rocket dogs that were faulty....well - it would help if i could get out of bed to take them back to the post office.....

im telling myself i will send one of the uggs back. i hope they fit.....

i sent for 4.5 and im usually a size 4.

Sixpencenonethericher Thu 06-Mar-14 09:03:31

I found the long ones a better fit than the bailey long vicar
Get well soon you should keep both lol x

HappyAsEyeAm Thu 06-Mar-14 11:04:00

I am usually a 3 and a half, and I bought the 3.5. They fit really well. The sheepskin sort of flattens a bit over time, so they will feel looser with more and more wear. I hope you like them when they arrive! I love my bailey buttons and I love that they fit my calves even more. But if the classic tall had fit, I would have gone with them. They are cheaper too.

I am planning which ones I will buy next winter! Chestnut or black, I cant decide.

TessTackle Thu 06-Mar-14 11:10:29

Classic long or short bailey. Long bailey tend to rouche and I think are ugly sorry.

Long classic can be worn with jeans and leggings skirts and dresses

Short bailey the same but they lose their structure faster so look scruffier.

ThatVikRinA22 Thu 06-Mar-14 15:53:41

well i ordered classic long in black, and short bailey button in chestnut - the only thing im worried about is the fit - i am a 4. usually a definite 4 in most shops - including M&S, Jones bootmaker, so instead of going down half a size i went up half a size - i watched the fitting guides on the Schuh website and they said if you are a full size to go up.....

i hope thats going to be right. Sending them back would be an expensive job.....

i got both styles for £119....from site linked to on here....bargains if they fit me!

HappyAsEyeAm Thu 06-Mar-14 16:11:02

My triple bailey buttons haven't ruched or fallen at all. I feel very defensive of them smile

TessTackle Thu 06-Mar-14 16:44:51

I'm glad yours haven't Happy they're personally my least favourite style and I've had a fair few different pairs. Maybe it's just the ones I've seen?

ThatVikRinA22 Fri 07-Mar-14 02:19:49

well the colour i wanted wasnt on the site in the triple bailey anyway - so ive gone for classic tall in black and short bailey in chestnut. The triple bailey do look lovely and cosy but i did worry that they might gape after a lot of wear....i think mine will get a lot of wear!)

oooo i do hope they fit me.....<crosses fingers>

Innogen Fri 07-Mar-14 02:23:05

Uggs are for my scruffy days, so usually leggings and big old comfy jumpers

Sixpencenonethericher Fri 07-Mar-14 08:32:17

To be fair it's probably my chunky legs that make the bailey ones flop because my dd whose slim they don't flop

ThatVikRinA22 Fri 07-Mar-14 09:05:21

yay!! my classic tall uggs have arrived and are perfect! not tight around the calf at all and fit perfectly! and they actually l9ok nice with my skinny jeans. ...heaven to wear! Excited now for.my.other pair to arrive! I.can see me living in them!

TessTackle Fri 07-Mar-14 10:58:29

Ooooooh Vicar I'm so jealous! I want a new pair <humph>

ThatVikRinA22 Fri 07-Mar-14 23:25:17

the other pair came a few hours later.

they are both fabulous. They were ex display and cost £50 ish pound each pair - so i got the classic long black and the bailey button charm in chestnut.....i am IN LOVE. I dont think i will even take them off for bed....grin

im keeping both of them. well.....its not worth the postage to send one back is it?

got them from the discount schuh store linked on here t'other day (branch 309)....it said that being ex display one was discoloured but if they are i cant see how....love em.

faustina Sat 08-Mar-14 08:04:35

oh good - very glad to hear you like your choices!

ThatVikRinA22 Sun 09-Mar-14 01:47:40
