A lip tint/stain that lasts

I have no luck when it comes to lipstick, try as I might I cannot find one that stays on.

I really like lip tints and stains as they don't feel as claggy as lipstick, especially for just wearing day to day, but they all seem to fade to nothingness within an hour

Does anyone have one they can recommend that seems to last? I'm happy to pay for something that works

Thanks

Revlon lip crayons last well and they're only about £8

rootypig Wed 19-Feb-14 20:51:55

oooh you need YSL Vernis a Levres. It is fucking MIRACULOUS stuff.

AmelieRose Wed 19-Feb-14 20:52:25

I agree with Dave above - was just about to post the same. Much better than the Clinique Chubby Sticks - the Revlon ones last longer and are far cheaper!

Benefit benetints have too much staying power for me- you can't get the buggers off! The original one is a fairly dark pinky/red colour but I think they do other shades now.

Revlon kissable balm stains all the way smile

rootypig Wed 19-Feb-14 21:19:42

No no no no no. YSL. Please try it at a counter. It's a game changing product, there is nothing else like it.

moonshinestar2 Wed 19-Feb-14 21:34:14

Benetint for certain - I have the cherry one and love it!

daimbardiva Wed 19-Feb-14 22:21:46

No 7 lip stains and lip lacquers. Really like both these products

HappyGirlNow Wed 19-Feb-14 22:28:06

Benefit Posietint - it's the pink version of Benetint..

Elizabeth Arden 8 hr cream in liptick form Flipping amazing, my lips are so soft after use and it really does leave kissable lips. There are two tints available: pink or deep red which leave a hint of colour so perfect for daily use. Use a lipliner all over your lips before applying if you want a more intense shade for evening wear.

Stila lip and cheek stain - the pomegranate one is lovely, a "your lips only better" colour.

buttercrumble Thu 20-Feb-14 07:11:35

Benetint the coral one is georgeous

whereisshe Thu 20-Feb-14 10:56:40

To everyone who is saying benetint, how do you get it to stay on? I find it's gone within half an hour of application...?

101handbags Thu 20-Feb-14 11:48:05

Maybelline Super Stay 10 hour tint gloss - this stuff is amazing. I need to take it off with clinique take the day off at the end of the day - it fades a little but it never comes off entirely. I have had strangers come up to me & ask what lipstick I am wearing. I wear the 540 Endless Ruby. This is a stain even though they call it a tint gloss - it's not a sticky gloss.

Toofattorun Thu 20-Feb-14 22:18:30

Oh bloody hell...
Why did I read this? I bought the YSL Vernis a Levres lip stain today at Boots. It cost £25.00. It is the first gloss that doesn't feel sticky and I've been wearing it since 7pm and its still on (not v. Glossy but the colour is still there) three and a quarter hours later. I'm very impressed!

rootypig - I blame you 100% for my spending! thanks

now I have to find someone to blame for spending £65 in MAC grin

DipMeInChocolate Thu 20-Feb-14 22:20:56

The only ones that stay on me are Maybelline 24hr lip colour. Shame as not many of their shades suit me.

Dawndonnaagain Thu 20-Feb-14 23:30:22

Went to a gig last night, got home at two a.m. Fell into bed, got up showered, dressed, did hair. Went downstairs to do face and last nights YSL lippy was stii in place.

Toofattorun Fri 21-Feb-14 09:20:32

Dawndonnaagain - how many layers did you put on? That's very impressive!

I only tried it out with two light layers and it lasted about 4 hours or so even after eating. I can still see a slight colour now but nothing major.

Can't wait to try it out properly today.

plentyofsoap Fri 21-Feb-14 10:00:00

Why have I just read this. I want it now and I'm going into town soon. I blame you all!! wink

Dawndonnaagain Fri 21-Feb-14 10:36:34

I did two, put it on, blot with tissue, reapply, forget it!

HelloBoys Fri 21-Feb-14 10:52:27

The YSL is excellent was recommended by someone here didn't believe them but it works! sort of a gloss/stain. not cheap but bloody works!

BetterWithCheese Fri 21-Feb-14 13:57:40

Dawn and Toofat what YSL colour did you get? I got 23 which goes on a pinky coral which is gorgeous but the stain is quite orange sad. I love the feel of it though so looking for a better shade that stains pinker than 23 does.

I love the Benetint in the coral shade.

BetterWithCheese Fri 21-Feb-14 14:22:27

Oops mine is 29 not 23.

Dawndonnaagain Fri 21-Feb-14 14:54:11

50. I have olive skin and black hair though, so bright reds look okay on me.

rootypig Fri 21-Feb-14 19:21:46

Woo so glad someone listened to me! Because it ACTUALLY WORKS grin

And makes me look better in photos, unlike any other make up product. I have 5 (night out) and 29 (perfect day neutral) I am hankering after a few more

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Fri 21-Feb-14 19:31:07

I think I'm a bit loads older than I imagine you lot are.

Do any of these stay where you put them rather than bleed into the wrinkles around the mouth?

Thanks.

Dawndonnaagain Fri 21-Feb-14 19:38:20

I'm 55. I use a lip brush. It stays!

Snowdown Fri 21-Feb-14 19:38:34

I like Maybelline 24hr stay - I wish they did more colours.

Methe Fri 21-Feb-14 19:43:24

I have no luck with lipstick either generally but the revlon colour stay suede lipsticks stay is the best I've ever tried. it's quite mat though not not much good if you want a shimmer. It's also quite dry.

Corygal Fri 21-Feb-14 20:49:35

Topshop lip and cheek tint is a cracker at a scanty 6 quid - lasts all day. And I chew my lips.

For people who like bright red and pink I can 100% recommend Limecrime velvetines, I wear the red version daily and once it's on in the morning I have to scrub it off with a flannel to go to bed at night. I also recommend the maybelline 24hour lipsticks especially the two step versions, I'm very lazy and never retouch my make up during the day so they come in very handy for me smile

Urbanvoltaire Fri 21-Feb-14 21:00:10

Rootypig, could you check your YSL colour no 29 as I cant find it anywhere...might it be 9 or 19 instead? Thanks!

Toofattorun Fri 21-Feb-14 21:05:41

I bought shade 106 because I wanted to start off with a safe shade.

This site shows it most like it does on me:-

Toofattorun Fri 21-Feb-14 21:25:18

I put it on today at 12.30 and it was still on at 5.00. I mean, come on...that's cool!

The YSL Glossy Stains are miraculous. Bloody amazing. The bright red in particular is superb. I always use them on brides.

lovingmatleave Fri 21-Feb-14 23:05:19

Max Factor Lipfinity good staying power, but personally I'm not that keen on the colours available.

littlelime Sat 22-Feb-14 07:25:16

Definitely benetint. Lasts so well you can't get it off and a little goes a long way. Expensive but worth every penny.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Sat 22-Feb-14 09:44:00

Thank you, I'll go and look at those today.

And I'll buy a lipbrush!

rootypig Mon 24-Feb-14 22:39:09

urban it is 29, but they do limited editions each season as well as the main palette

MTBMummy Tue 25-Feb-14 08:52:55

Thanks all, sorry for posting and running, I put this up in my last week of work and then things got manic as everyone panicked about me taking mat leave

I use benefit benetint the original one and it doesn't stay for more than 30 minutes, I have tried using lip brushes and it makes no difference.

Will check out YSL and the revlon ones, hopefully they'll let me try them and come back another day once I've checked it's staying power
