What do you think of this Cardigan?

(35 Posts)

I have some Christmas money to spend and I really like this cardigan here

Do you think its Mumsy? I love the colour (chutney).

CuttedUpPear Sun 05-Jan-14 12:01:43

I love it. But I am a cardigan fiend.

I don't really know what mumsy is, you could for example wear this with silver leggings and converse ankle boots - that wouldn't be mumsy!

MrsSteptoe Sun 05-Jan-14 12:02:06

It wouldn't look good on me, but I'm 5'2" and not as slim as I used to be (though I'm still a borderline 10/12 depending on the label!). I'd look shapeless. I do agree with you on the colour, though.

BananaNotPeelingWell Sun 05-Jan-14 12:03:04

Very nice! I love the coloursmile

FrancesFarmer Sun 05-Jan-14 13:13:32

I love that colour. It could be mumsy if you wear it with frumpy clothes but I think it will be fine if you wear it with flattering items.

fedup21 Sun 05-Jan-14 13:19:17

I agree with the other posters-it depends on what you wear it with. Nice boots and a chunky necklace and I think it will look fab. I like it; the blue one is nice, too.

burnishedsilver Sun 05-Jan-14 13:20:41

Hate the colour, but maybe it would look fantastic on your colouring. It would make me look ill.

Aquelven Sun 05-Jan-14 13:24:12

The colour would look awful on me but I do like it if you can wear that colour, lovely warm shade.

Annianni Sun 05-Jan-14 14:02:53

It's lovely. I'd happily wear the silver with skinny jeans and nice boots.
I'd order a larger size so it was a bit slouchy.

Financeprincess Sun 05-Jan-14 14:52:33

Don't buy it. Don't buy it. I repeat, don't buy it.

It is indeed mumsy. Also, never wear a colour called 'chutney'!

Ifancyashandy Sun 05-Jan-14 14:55:52

Ooh. No. I would think I were faced with a woman who had 'given up' on clothes if I saw someone wearing that. Not my taste at all. And the colour reminds me of baby poo.

But the again, I think that of all cardigans. Nasty things.

vestandknickers Sun 05-Jan-14 14:57:00

Its lovely. Buy it!

Fairylea Sun 05-Jan-14 15:00:13

Love it!

Hopasholic Sun 05-Jan-14 15:02:25

It looks boxy, doesn't look boxy on the model but it could be pinned back. I think there are more flattering cardis out there tbh.

Absolutely hate it, sorry. It looks like the sort of thing my (morbidly obese) RE teacher would have worn.

What about the Kelsey cardigan @ Fatface?

I cant link to it, but its easy found in their knits section.

Twinklestein Sun 05-Jan-14 17:26:43

I think it's less mumsy in the other colours - the cedar or the silver.

I couldn't pull it off, I think it may work best on teen/early 20s ingenue types with a Bloomsbury print dress and biker boots. (Or 60something artists).

HyvaPaiva Sun 05-Jan-14 17:36:01

Get it in cedar, it's lovely.

The chutney? No no no no. The colour changes the cardigan completely for me, it looks dated, drab and quite ugly in chutney. The silver's too lifeless for me. But the cedar is rich and classic.

lurkingaround Sun 05-Jan-14 17:41:07

I don't like it. At all. Sorry. I can't imagine it looking non-frumpy.

ButICantaloupe Sun 05-Jan-14 17:42:28

It's awful. Really, really awful and I love cardigans.

PastaandCheese Sun 05-Jan-14 17:47:42

Personally I don't like it.

beatofthedrum Sun 05-Jan-14 17:51:14

I'm afraid I don't either.

fivegolddeblooms Sun 05-Jan-14 17:52:47

I think it looks like diarrhoea, sorry.

CaroBeaner Sun 05-Jan-14 17:54:37

I love it!

BikeRunSki Sun 05-Jan-14 17:55:19

I like it, but non of the colours. It's Seasalt, it will last forever.

It's horrible.

hiddenhome Sun 05-Jan-14 18:30:28

It's lovely. I like all the colours.

BitchyFestiveFace Sun 05-Jan-14 20:25:41

I like it in Cedar a lot (but just noticed it's not reduced in this colour)! Not mad about the Chutney.

Seasalt knits are brilliant but you do need to be careful what you wear them with.

I actually thought when I saw the thread title that this would be about Seasalt psychic

MrsBennetsEldest Sun 05-Jan-14 20:28:06

Nooooooo. Shapeless lump of chutney.

Curioustiger Sun 05-Jan-14 21:15:38

Oh I'm sorry OP but it's really not to my taste at all! It looks like something Victoria wood would wear in a sketch (no offence VW who is more glam in real life)

SugarHut Mon 06-Jan-14 04:38:12

My nan has something similar. She's 76.

peasandlove Mon 06-Jan-14 07:55:31

I hate it too.. grin

GobblersKnob Mon 06-Jan-14 08:04:29

The colour is great, but nothing else is. The models look pretty shit in it in all the colours.

I'm not sure Seasalt make anything for anyone who wants to look good, the are fantastic at making clothes that are comfy, practical and well made.

(Apologies to all the Seasalt lovers)

Snowdown Mon 06-Jan-14 09:12:47

I think the combination of short, chunky knit and boxy shape will automatically exclude the item as flattering on most people's bodies. I'm thinking the only person who would suit this is size 6, needs a bit of chunking up and has fantastic autumn colouring.

BitchyFestiveFace Mon 06-Jan-14 10:37:50

Depends what you mean by "good", Gobblers . I go through phases of loving the wholesome, homespun granny-knits look grin. Not so much now, but a couple of years ago I'd have been all over a cardi like that. I'd wear it with skinny jeans, chunky boots, glossy hair and dramatic eye make-up. On the other hand, I think some of the items raved about on S&B are hideous tat.

That said, Seasalt are not edgy or fashionable, they have a lot of smocky things favoured by my mum and sweatshirts, and the styling of the models is often rubbish. So I can see where the naysayers are coming from.
