Thanks Mig marking my place for when I'm soberer.....

MarshaBrady Thu 31-Oct-13 21:07:39

Thanks Mig. Back later on too.

mignonnette Thu 31-Oct-13 21:24:00

Shop grin

QueenCadbury Thu 31-Oct-13 21:27:02

shop I'm a scarcedy cat with travel sickness, so no, I gve all roller coasters a miss! Dh and dd went on one though. How on earth did you do a ride 10 times?? I think we only did 10 in total as the queues were huge.

Making place.....watching Les Mis (3rd time about to kill self!) with DS and DBIL .
Scented sparky finished the job sad, good news is that he has to come back to sort out a socket grin........
DH out in fab restaurant in Shoredich tonight I'm not jealous
Loads of trick or treaters this evening.
Shop your birthday sounds great
Mig what an impressive DH ....of to see arms........

QC so gals you had a great time x

mignonnette Thu 31-Oct-13 22:10:21

Can i just recommend a lovely thing to eat? Am on another course of antibiotics and feeling crap but heated up half a tub of Yorkshire Provender red pepper, tomato and cheese soup and it is nectar of the Gods. Little pieces of melty cheese in it yum.

Dry - Le Mis made me want to shoot myself in the eyeballs. Never got past the first fifteen minutes smile.

No trick or treaters...Think our house looks too forbidding hmm.

Happy Birthday Shop. How did I miss that earlier- sorry flowers

libertychick Thu 31-Oct-13 22:21:31

<Quick wave> sorry not contributing much - v tired.
Glad you had such a good time QueenC
Mig love the Gap chambray shirt - I think Dona had something similar last year.

mignonnette Thu 31-Oct-13 22:36:59

Whatever happened to Dona Liberty?

Hope you feel better soon. I take it work is battering you a bit?

Mig we go to Winter Wonderland on my birthday (19 Dec) every year - it's tradition. I think it's great, really atmospheric the skating and ice caves are great, the German Christmas market is lovely to browse and there are Bratwurst and mulled wine aplenty. And only a hop, skip and a jump from Harvey Nics - what's not to like??

Welcome back queenC hope you and the family had a lovely time!

No secret sale invite here. My Loubs are actually uncomfortable bastards so no great loss. Am thinking of making a little luxury purchase to tide me over till the bag buy - will link if/when I do it!

Amber my DDs birthday.....

FASHION news.....when you buy a pair of boots in sale in a size bigger than your normal size hoping they might just fit, they won't. Back they go.

Annianni Thu 31-Oct-13 23:19:24

Dry... stop buying boots! grin
Do you still want black bikers?

So the smaller size navy Boden jumper arrived...

And it's a bit boring and fitted in the smaller size.
So I've ordered the larger size again, but in the pale grey this time.
I'm hoping the paler colour will look nice looser... I had one of those £10 vouchers to use, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Mig, Dona was around on a NC a while ago.
Not sure if she's still about though.
Loving those photos of your dh wink

I remember watching a very nice <swoon> tv thing a few years ago, about ballet boys/men.
Their physique... goes for a lie down... phwoar...

Annianni Thu 31-Oct-13 23:20:49

I've never watched Les Mis.
Seeing Wolverine singing just seems wrong to me!

Anni seem to remember you went boot bonkers a while back!!!! But yes, will stop now and I'm going to be SENSIBLE and save for the J crew coat I'm coveting needs to find a US visitor.
Les MIs is a fantastic film, Hugh Jackman is surprisingly brilliant and well cast and can really sing, as can Eddie Redmayne . However you only need to see it once (on a big screen only to get full impact)....three times is just too much misery grin

Annianni Thu 31-Oct-13 23:26:20

Oh, random question alert...

Ds1 would like a microscope for Christmas off my mother, but I have to source the damn thing
He has requested a real one, not a toy one.

Any suggestions on where to look?
Not too £££ obviously, as he's 9 and I dread to think what he'll be examining...

LinusDKD Fri 01-Nov-13 07:30:51

Ah Les Mis. A friend took me to see the musical when I was a student in London. He raved about it (he had seen it a gazillion times, all over the world) so I thought I was in for a treat.

That's 2 hours more like 24 hours of my life I'll never get back.

When I say this to people they look at me like I am some baby eating monster, but I really hated it.

Needless to say I haven't seen the film. wink

Today I am wearing my teal DKNY dress toughend up with my bikers.

QueenCadbury Fri 01-Nov-13 08:11:29

Being the lazy arse I am, I can't be bothered to read the past thread but I'm intrigued to know what shops birthday plans are. Can't believe that mine is tomorrow!!

PIL have given me £100 for my birthday. I'm going to do the style day with hopefully but I just need to sweet talk dh as there's a day in December that I could do if he agrees.

Don't think dona is around anymore. She was frugalfashionista but then weaned herself off shopping/clothes etc so I'm not sure that she posts anymore.

noviceoftheday Fri 01-Nov-13 09:01:06

Good afternoon Voguettes. My week is done. I have 7 hours to kill till flight. Guess what? Am too exhausted to shop!

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 09:03:01

Anni the Science Museum have a range of things like that. Boxed toys. Think they used to sell them in Debenhams and Amazon
QueenC lazy. Out with a girlfriend for dinner tonight, family lunch at gastropub tonight, champagne breakfast at posh hotel on the day with a girlfriend, dinner with DH that night. Low key on previous years!
ILs leave today. I am down two wine glasses, a pair of rubber gloves and my sanity. Sounds just like the old days. Oh, and I walked in on FIL having a wee in our outside toilet with the door wide open eew
Dry J Crew opens here next week.....

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 09:04:11

Gastropub Sunday

MarshaBrady Fri 01-Nov-13 09:10:04

Linus AKA BirthdayBuddy how will you celebrate?

LinusDKD Fri 01-Nov-13 09:33:40

Just dinner with DH I'm afraid shop

I'm not a hardcore Birthday Celebratrix (I just invented that word) like you! grin

Living far from friends and family does come into it as well.

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 09:38:06

Oooo - I like that word too! smile

noviceoftheday Fri 01-Nov-13 09:45:34

I would like to modify my last post. I was too tired till I spotted Prada. Now I am tired!

Morning all. yesterday's feeling a bit delicate has turned into sniffles and a sore throat so I'm in pjs and dressing gown feeling sorry for myself with a cup of green tea

Annianni Fri 01-Nov-13 09:54:41

Thanks Shop.

I've just seen Spencer Matthews willy on Twitter urgh
I'm not impressed grin

MarshaBrady Fri 01-Nov-13 09:55:20

Anni! Are you following him on twitter? grin

Hi everyone, lovely to see vol 25 grin. Manic half term with DC's, and I was doing so well not shopping til one of you <narrows eyes> Marsha ? linked that coral cashmere's on its way to me along with some lovely Stella undies that fell into my basket. It's official, I have no willpower.

Shop have a fabulous birthday weekend!

Queen happy birthday to you too. Have a wonderful day, you are going to look amazing in your dress!

Linus I'm with you on Les Mis. Haven't seen it but suspect it would be akin to water torture for me smile

Liberty where's that food diary? hmm smile

Oops, missed another happy birthday to Linus!

Annianni Fri 01-Nov-13 10:06:37

Nooo Marsha, was reading the papers...

You know you want to wink

Annianni Fri 01-Nov-13 10:08:54

flowers wine cake

MarshaBrady Fri 01-Nov-13 10:18:45

Sleep great to see you. You'll have to link, I can't remember grin, but it sounds gorgeous.

Anni hahaha you made me laugh. I'm not sure I'm up for the full effect of the Spencer. grin

this one, intended for Shop I think?... Do you reckon the colour will suit me?

MarshaBrady Fri 01-Nov-13 10:24:14

Oh yes good one! I love that one, will look gorgeous with your new hair defo.

And now, going back to link that I had to order this too blush. Too much of a bargain and very me. Will have to choose between them!

Annianni Fri 01-Nov-13 10:28:10

That's lovely Sleep.

I really wouldn't look tbh Marsha.
It made me feel a bit sick! grin

Annianni Fri 01-Nov-13 10:29:46

Love that grey one Sleep.

MarshaBrady Fri 01-Nov-13 10:30:51

lol Anni grin

I love that Sleep, looks sooo soft and comfy.

QueenCadbury Fri 01-Nov-13 11:06:59

That grey jumper is tres lush sleep

RubyLovesShopping Fri 01-Nov-13 11:26:43

Lovely jumper sleep.
Novice can't wait to hear what you have been buying this week.
I love Fridays, no work, get the children despatched to their various locations, go for run then a shower and sit and see what the outnet have to offer and catch up on mn. Sadly short lived as by 1200 have to pick up the littlest but really enjoy this hour of sitting and filling up an outnet basket.
Very tempted by the I&I silk back jumper, anyone know what the sizing is like?

RubyLovesShopping Fri 01-Nov-13 11:27:41

Sorry double post. Should also add the outnet basket gets filled and only the odd item ordered!

I do that with the Outnet a lot too Ruby. Didn't want to let that grey jumper slip away once I'd seen it though <bitter experience>! I wish once stuff was in your basket it was held for 30 mins as with other sites. Too many times (sales opening day anyone hmm) things go oos when you come to checkout.

libertychick Fri 01-Nov-13 14:05:56

Moan alert - just back from hospital apt, was having some tests done to see if I have a hereditary heart problem - on the plus side I don't have the problem I was screened for, on the minus side all the tests have revealed I do have different heart 'abnormality'. It's a 'keep an eye on it' thing, 'probably' won't cause any issues but it has completely pissed me off. I have a thumping headache now and feel terribly sorry for myself sad sad sad. Feel very fucking middle aged.

In the best MNV spirit I wandered the shops to try and cheer myself up. No clothes purchases but did buy the Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette to try and brighten myself up a bit.

Sleep my food diary for the last two weeks has been sugar, followed by coffee, followed by more sugar, followed by wine!!! I'll get onto a more detailed version grin

QueenC is tonight your big birthday bash? Will you post a pic before you go out? Would love to see you all glammed up!

mignonnette Fri 01-Nov-13 14:20:50

Liberty <<<<<<< hugs >>>>>>> . Perfectly reasonable to feel sorry for yourself I think. I hope you can take it easy the rest of today. flowers and [tea] on the sofa for you.

One Feel better soon.

Thanks for the info on Winter Wonderland Amber. I'll go for it then and do some off piste at Harvey Nics!

Novice Have a safe flight. Hope you get some rest on it too. If its Cathay Pacific you should. I love flying w/ them.

MarshaBrady Fri 01-Nov-13 14:26:10

Liberty big hug from me too, lovely. I hope you can take it easy today. I love the idea of the more detailed version of the food plan grin

Oh yes we've done Winter Wonderland too Mig. I liked it, it felt Christmassy enough and we went on the big wheel.

libertychick Fri 01-Nov-13 14:31:14

Thanks Marsha and Mig.
We have gone to Winter Wonderland a couple of times too and enjoyed it - gets v crowed though but so does everything in London. Always end up in the food hall in Harrods afterwards for our Christmas tradition of champagne and oysters!

libertychick Fri 01-Nov-13 14:38:37

That should be 'crowded' not 'crowed'!!!

QueenCadbury Fri 01-Nov-13 14:39:36

Hugs from me too liberty. Birthday and bash is tomorrow. Will definitely post a pic. Off to get my nails done in a minute!

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 14:50:49

Hugs to Liberty
Have a fab night Queenc if it is tonight? Or tomorrow? And yes please to blamed up pics.
Sleep waves! love both jumpers
ILs have left the building......

Hugs and thanks to liberty

In other news, this week I have lost 6 3/4 pounds grin all credit to sleep who is very kindly helping me out

libertychick Fri 01-Nov-13 15:23:12

Wow, very well done one!

LinusDKD Fri 01-Nov-13 15:38:21

Hugs to liberty! Have they referred you for more tests?

Well done one! I have lost some weight as well and my clothes are starting to look better and I feel better about myself.

mig I saw your coat in black today and it is a beautiful coat <enabler>

justasecond Fri 01-Nov-13 16:07:59

Aw Liberty hopefully it will be nothing serious, hugs from me too.

I just ordered this cashmere jumper from Whistles for £30! Still some left in M and L its called Agatha in light grey in case the link does not work.
I also ordered the MbMJ bag finally.
I love both the jumpers you ordered sleep the grey one looks so cosy!

libertychick Fri 01-Nov-13 16:36:35

No more tests - I have had all the main heart tests as part of checking for the other thing - they'll just have to do them all again every few years and see if the 'abnormality' causes any issues long term.

Great bargain on the whistles jumper justa!

Annianni Fri 01-Nov-13 17:21:15

Hugs for Liberty xx

Well done One and Linus.

I've just ordered Justa's cashmere sweater grin

My Asos Brady jeans arrived.
They're lovely, but huge.
So I've ordered the 14's, which I didn't think would fit me.

Annianni Fri 01-Nov-13 17:23:45

I thought VB looked lovely in your coat Mig
<wanders off whistling>

justasecond Fri 01-Nov-13 17:36:24

Glad they had one left for you Anni! I tried those Brady jeans a while ago, they were huge! Has anyone tried the Whistles slim boyfriend jeans? I am still kicking myself about the perfect soft pair of bf jeans from Comptoir de C that I bought and returned at the start of the year when I had overspent. I just want a non distressed, darkish, non stiff denim pair of loose in the thigh but not too saggy around the arse, tapered jeans. Not fussy at all am I? grin

mignonnette Fri 01-Nov-13 18:20:05

Anni grin- a rather weak grin

I bet I would look lovelier wink.

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 18:20:09

Where do you all buy your furniture from? I need a corner or hideaway small desk, and a white single bed……..

Oh - and what the hell am I going to wear tonight.!! I need to be ready in an hour. Dinner with a girlfriend at a gastropubby type place….. wondered about black coated skinnies and LKB black shoe boots but no idea what top to wear. Help!

mignonnette Fri 01-Nov-13 18:21:06

Linus Where did you see it? I prefer navy- COME ON NAP! Reduce my coat before I freeze.

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 18:22:02

You absolutely would Mig

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 18:22:32

Liberty more wine and more hugs xx

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 18:23:05

Amazing bargain justasecond they've all gone now! Well done lurkers….. smile

MarshaBrady Fri 01-Nov-13 18:33:25

Excellent buy Justa.

Shop there's a few M and L left!

MarshaBrady Fri 01-Nov-13 18:35:10

Furniture is pretty much all Skandium, Viaduct, SCP, Twentytwentyone and Artemide for lighting.

LinusDKD Fri 01-Nov-13 18:37:53

Lovely jumper just. Would have ordered as well but it didn't look like my kind of grey.

I think it was black mig (not 100% sure) and I saw it in a Swiss department store in Geneva called Bongenie.

Enjoy yourself shop! Your 'bottom half' [giggle] sounds great. Do you have an olive or orange (like your coat) top?

MarshaBrady Fri 01-Nov-13 18:39:45

Shop Meow sweatshirt? I really like it.

MarshaBrady Fri 01-Nov-13 18:40:15

Well done Linus and One!

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 18:40:48

Nope Linus - I've come to the conclusion I need some going out tops. My coat is in for repair now. Thought I'd wear the M&S check coat. I might just sling on a J Crew tee and do the relaxed thing…….

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 18:41:26

Thanks for that Marsha I'll take a look at them tomorrow. Wondered about Heals too but not sure on quality nowadays?

LinusDKD Fri 01-Nov-13 18:41:43

I am doing MNV proud tonight btw.

I am wearing, wait for it, my flannel pj's!

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 18:42:24

The Meow is an XL so huge on me now - was thinking I might sell it but now it's got the Marsha seal of approval I'll take another look…...

MarshaBrady Fri 01-Nov-13 18:45:05

I looked at your wardrobe board! grin. But might be uncomfortable if too big.

I really like the bird a&w one too. Redferne crew.

LinusDKD Fri 01-Nov-13 18:45:29

How about a cream top?

I have no idea what I am going to wear for dinner with DH on Monday but my Loubs might get their bi-annual outing as we will be going there and coming back by taxi.

MarshaBrady Fri 01-Nov-13 18:46:47

Oh you must Linus. Work from the shoe up.

LinusDKD Fri 01-Nov-13 18:48:52

Angold Shirt with biker? (Looked at your board too shop)

Maybe I will wear my black Sportmax dress with leather trimmed neckline.....

Annianni Fri 01-Nov-13 18:55:32

Shop I vote for skinnys
AV plum tee
And your Muubaa

Annianni Fri 01-Nov-13 18:56:33

With some dangly necklaces.
Will decide on shoes now...

Annianni Fri 01-Nov-13 18:59:52

Have you not pinned your lkb shoe boots?

Annianni Fri 01-Nov-13 19:02:02

Our furniture is a mix of Habitat, Laura Ashley and JL.

LinusDKD Fri 01-Nov-13 19:09:40

We recently bought new furniture and we eventually went for a Belgian brand called Flamant (not sure if available in the UK) but we did like the UK brand Neptune as well.

No idea about the quality but JL sells some of their stuff so should be ok.

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 19:39:44

Right - no pin of LKB shoe boots but black, squared off toe with gold plate tip and a gold band around the base of the heel. Sound hideous but are lush - can't walk too far. Black coated skinnies, J Crew black deep v tee. Rose gold MK watch and YSL Arty. My GHD hair Straighteners just caught fire! Scary moment. They are about 10 years old though to be fair. I'll have to do. DS was playing up - I swear they know when you're going out.
Anni I may well go with your outfit on Sunday or Linus'
Thanks all - have a lovely evening……...

QueenCadbury Fri 01-Nov-13 19:42:18

What did you decide to wear shop? We haven't bought furniture for ages as we inherited a load of antique stuff. Other than that we have a few pieces from next or from local pine/oak shops.

Well done one, that's absolutely fantastic!

I've just tried my dress on and decided on my black patent peep toes. Dh was pissing himself as I struggled into it asking why I'd buy a dress that I can't get myself into and out of. Let's just hope we're not too drunk tomorrow that he can't get me out of it grin

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 19:43:41

Oh yes! Sorry - huge congrats on weight loss One - that's amazing!
Right - going now.

Secretly switch out his drinks for non alcoholic ones queenC wink

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 19:54:22

shopafrolic Fri 01-Nov-13 23:14:35

Staggers in to say hi and I love you all........ Was given a fab set of OPI nail polishes by my lovely friend as an early pressie. V happy (and a bit pissed)

libertychick Fri 01-Nov-13 23:40:11

Thanks all for being so nice today.

A link - This Topshop cardi is really lovely and looks and feels way more expensive than it is - shape wasn't quite right on me unfortunately but could be a great buy. It's available in a few colours...the grey is a gorgeous bluey shade.

Turquoiseblue Sat 02-Nov-13 04:46:59

Oh sleepless night!
Happy birthday thanksthanksthankswinewinewine to the birthday ladies. Enjoy the celebrations.

Just a quick little link this skirt
I picked it up on impulse last weekend as I couldn't see anything else I liked. it s so plain I know it s not very exciting but it s so easy simple and versatile- not High end or unusual, just a great little easy jersey skirt. Delighted with it had tried a whistles version but this is better on me- it s quick thick jersey and no baubles after wear / wash. Highly recommend.
Thanks Linus for the bag link.thanks, have my heart set on the other colour. Ordered the AH one I pinned will wait to see what it looks like when it arrives.

QueenCadbury Sat 02-Nov-13 06:43:55

Novice Wow! I LOVE that bag

LinusDKD Sat 02-Nov-13 07:40:47

Oooooh novice! <drool>

I love that bag and the colour is very similar to my Tod's D Bag. It is such a versatile colour.

Linkie to the LV bag?

MarshaBrady Sat 02-Nov-13 07:41:44

Turq love the skirt.

Novice gorgeous bag!

QueenC happy birthday!

MarshaBrady Sat 02-Nov-13 07:51:44

The colour is divine.

MarshaBrady Sat 02-Nov-13 07:54:29

Shop did you have a good night, was the food good?

Annianni Sat 02-Nov-13 08:07:38

Happy birthday QueenC thanks

Fabulous bag Novice <swoon>

Sorry Dry... It was me grin
There's a naked Jamie photo online too apparently...

Annianni Sat 02-Nov-13 08:09:23

Yes... Shop...

What did you eat and drink?
I need details cos I never go anywhere... sob!

MarshaBrady Sat 02-Nov-13 08:12:39

I love hearing what people choose grin.

I generally go for stuff I don't eat at home, dh always gets the very familiar, pasta or something.

Annianni Sat 02-Nov-13 08:23:34

My dh always picks the same as me!? weirdo

Unless I order for him, and choose something random for him grin

MarshaBrady Sat 02-Nov-13 08:28:40

Haha good one grin

shopafrolic Sat 02-Nov-13 08:33:00

The lady I was with was pregnant so it wasn't a raucous event. We shared a garlic flat bread to start, I had crab, king prawn and chorizo linguine with red chillies. No dessert, coffee and 3 glasses of Chilean SB. She had lamb with dauphinoise potatoes and green beans (I wanted that too but didn't want to order the same).
Nice food, cosy surroundings but quite loud. All this wood flooring doesn't make for quiet chats!
MIL bought me some Vivendi champagne flutes so will be drinking Prosecco whilst watching Strictly this evening. Will raise a glass to you QueenC - can we get live updates?

MarshaBrady Sat 02-Nov-13 08:38:52

Yum I love crab and king prawn.

noviceoftheday Sat 02-Nov-13 08:39:08

Hhmm yum Shop. I had Sushi at the Ritz Carlton last night.

This is the LV bag Linus. I love it but I have a thing about not getting LV because they're so ubiquitous.

Dh likes the bag too. Didn't even ask me the cost. I put it down to him missing me.wink

shopafrolic Sat 02-Nov-13 08:43:00

I'm avoiding eye contact with Sleep as it was carb laden! But then I think all rules will have to go out of the window this weekend.

shopafrolic Sat 02-Nov-13 08:44:49

PLEASE can we have a bag share Novice? grin
Load your collection online, rent them out to MNVers for nights out. All funds go to your charity? grin

MarshaBrady Sat 02-Nov-13 08:46:02

Mm sushi.

Haha at eye contact. Yes start next week Shop. Good idea.

Good morning, food police here...Shop shock you are meant to eat pasta if that's what you want when it's your birthday (or indeed on other days when you really want to!), didn't I explain that key principle? grin

Lovely bag Novice, do you think maybe DH has just admitted defeat on the fashion spending front grin?

Happy birthday QueenC! flowers wine flowers wine

LinusDKD Sat 02-Nov-13 09:04:48

Yum shop that sounds delicious.

I think I might do like you and have some bubbles and watch Strictly tonight.

That bag is pretty novice and not too in-your-face LV.

Off to buy a birthday present from the children to me! smile

I am soooooo curious what DH got me because I know he has been looking at my boards.

He has also bought a second present but he's keeping that for Christmas. So my curiosity is going to be tested even further. sad

shopafrolic Sat 02-Nov-13 09:15:17

Morning officer Sleep! thanks
Sounds exciting Linus

shopafrolic Sat 02-Nov-13 09:15:46

I'm off out to buy some more GHDs. if I had long hair I reckon I might have caught fire last night grin

Annianni Sat 02-Nov-13 10:24:08

It's scary when ghds blow up Shop, I remember mine doing it when Ds1 was asleep in the same room.
I was leaping about panicking... but trying not to wake him up! grin

Your meals sound scrummy.

Lovely bag Novice

I might join in with the Prosecco tonight.

Happy birthday QueenC [thank] wine thanks wine

Decameron Sat 02-Nov-13 10:45:36

Happy birthday QueenC.

Love the Prada bag and the Alma too, Novice I had it in red and black and very stupidly got rid of both after DD1 was born and I thought I wouldn't use them again. And my red Speedy too, sob.

Sorry to hear of health issues, Liberty.

I particularly love the two sweaters Sleep ordered.

I got a pair of J Brands in the Shopbop sale, no other shopping this week. Feel I should wait for Christmas sales now.

Novice niiiiiiccccccceeeeee........I'm on for the bag share grin
Shop I adore crab!that pasta sounds delish.....
ILS only eat carbs and carbonised meat, boiled veg there are many reasons I'm glad to be home not mentioning the Heston Xmas pudding I had last night

Right guests left 10.30.......sheets washed, ironed and back on beds for next lot eta 3pm.

Am wearing bf jeans, animal print slipper flats, fushia merino jumper, Primarni necklace (as for MU)......much better than yesterday's terrible outfit and drizzle hair!grin

shopafrolic Sat 02-Nov-13 12:22:50

Sounds good Dry
This Whistles sweat fell into my bag while I was in JL today - they had 20% off all Whistles things. I know it's acrylic etc but I wore the grey quilted one non stop last winter so I know it'll get used. I just need to check the colour. Not sure if it's too bluey green…..

foxysocks Sat 02-Nov-13 12:29:29

that's lovely shop. your meal sounded fab too.

great outfit dry, am so jealous that your house is back to entertaining level already. our window went in yesterday so DH is doing the last coat on the walls right now and then he needs to stain the floor this afternooon. I got so stressed out by floor staining/oiling/varnishing and colours/techniques etc last week he just said 'STOP foxy. let me decide and sort it all out. just forget about it.' I am trying really really hardto do just that. exercise in non-attachment. <breathes deeply>

Foxy thanks! although I'm getting a bit sick of this jumper.....When I get something I love I tend to wear it to death then get sick of it! Bit the same with music too. Your house alterations sound much more time consuming than here. We're not decorated yet and have little bits of finishing....the radiators appear to have just died too which isn't good news.
You will get there. Much harder with young try not to get stressed by it, it's v hard, but will get done eventually.

Love the colour of that sweat Shop

foxysocks Sat 02-Nov-13 12:56:04

I am reaaaaaally trying dry. it's so hard! so much money, so much time, the level of decision is stressing me out. I don't want DH to leave either, he goes on thursday and there is no way he'll delay again sad

shopafrolic Sat 02-Nov-13 13:34:16

We'll keep you company Foxy

Yup Foxy I'm here all the time for fashion and silliness and general taking-your-mind -off RL. X

Reading In style Mag, getting very tempted........... Julianne Moore looks amazing as usual. Am finding items to Ebay tomorrow night to increase my J Crew coat fund. And why is it raining when I have a fireworks night to go to? sad hot soup and champers to come home to though grin

DSis and I had a good fashion catch up . She was wearing some great cashmere from TKMaxx
we liked this too but nylon made us hmm
cute in a prim kind of way

foxysocks Sat 02-Nov-13 14:11:54

love that spot sweater, very j crew

I don't need more jeans <sits on hands>

MarshaBrady Sat 02-Nov-13 14:17:20

Foxy darling we are so with you in spirit. We'll keep you company.

Ok some links, thanks Dry! And I bet you Julianne Moore looked beauuutiful as usual.

MarshaBrady Sat 02-Nov-13 14:18:00

Opened the last one.. and I'm oddly reminded of Kung Fu Panda 2.

Mwaaaa to Marsha I wish

MarshaBrady Sat 02-Nov-13 14:18:45

MarshaBrady Sat 02-Nov-13 14:20:24

You do though.

She does wear the most stunning colours with her complexion. I often marvel at how right she gets it, and Joan in Mad Men (although her hair is a different shade).

I love Joan. Think Julianne is brave and doesn't restrict herself to the colours she "should" wear........Big Mad Men fan here. And West Wing, ER, Greys anatomy, need Homeland box set...........

Some fab I And I cashmere on the Outnet and loads of Wang. Saw a lovely cable roll neck by Fahri.

QueenCadbury Sat 02-Nov-13 14:33:46

Hello from the birthday girl grin. Family all keeping the dc occupied, dh in bed with man flu so I'm having a quick catch up on here. Having a lovely day so far. Will link my pressies in a minute.

foxy I must check my calendar. I'd obviously prefer to do a weekend night as I'm rubbish at going out midweek so I'll let you know.

QueenC pleeeeeeeease put a pic up later on of your birthday outfit! So excited for you.....will toast you when I crack open the fizz later.x

QueenCadbury Sat 02-Nov-13 14:41:40

As well as various little bits from the dc chosen by themselves- cuddly toys, jigsaws and a minion mug!

Also 2 gorgeous bunches of flowers.

I'm a lucky girl smile

QueenCadbury Sat 02-Nov-13 14:42:43

noviceoftheday Sat 02-Nov-13 14:43:06

Hello! Tkmaxx were doing jbrands for£40 today.

Liberty, sorry I missed your post about your heart test. So sorry to hear this.thanks

My annual medical test results were waiting for me today. Nothing serious but my body fat percentage has shot up above normal.blush I have also put on a couple of kilos this year so the report came in big capitals to WATCH MY WEIGHT! gee thanks for that!hmm

noviceoftheday Sat 02-Nov-13 14:51:22

Oh I love all of those! Especially the watch and bag. Hope you're having a fab day!

Nice QueenC lovely pressies.

QueenCadbury Sat 02-Nov-13 15:02:01

Love your new bag too novice.

Remember I linked those s&d cuffs a couple of weeks ago and I was going to go and have a look at them today (local beauty salon has an open day with s&d stylist). Well, I can't be arsed! I looked at them online again last night and decided I didn't like them enough. So I shall just be layering up what bracelets/bangles I have.

casacastille Sat 02-Nov-13 15:11:25

I wandered on to this thread looking for lovely things to spend my birthday money and found a birthday buddy!

Happy birthday to us, QueenC! Love your presents, especially the charmwink

Happy birthday casacastille!winethanks Hope you got some lush presents too!

Casa happy stay it's fun on here. Sounds like you should meet Samtamarianovella

Is it me or does it feel stormy out? Have added an extra layer of wool .....hi tech vest, merino wool fine knit and a merino granddad style long line taupe cardi (LK Bennet)....working fushia and taupe!

MarshaBrady Sat 02-Nov-13 15:30:13

Welcome Casa and happy birthday!

QueenC lovely presents. Excellent!

Dry I just saw another thread about an incoming storm. I am glad I went on today's run early! Although I quite liked the woolly, windy, rainy almost dark one I did with the last incoming storm.

casacastille Sat 02-Nov-13 15:38:08

Thank you thanks Aside from some lovely personal gifts and cards from the DC, I have mostly been given money this year because I wasn't sure what I really wanted - my wishlist is loooong but vague - which is why I'm searching for inspiration.

And I have hit the jackpot already! Those TKMaxx links have taken me to some utterly bargainous Freeman T. Porter jeans in my size! Thank you Drywhiteplease (I'll have what you're havinggrin)

I want a gorgeous throw for my bed, a handbag, a winter coat. And those jeans... and lots of CAKE cake

QueenCadbury Sat 02-Nov-13 16:20:40

Happy birthday casa. Are you celebrating tonight?

LinusDKD Sat 02-Nov-13 16:43:52

Quickly popping in (making chicken Korma from scratch, eek!) to wish queenc a wonderful birthday party!

And piccies, piccies, piccies! (Please) grin

QueenCadbury Sat 02-Nov-13 16:51:20

I'm about to start getting ready. I feel like I should have fizz but probably best wait till a bit later. Don't want to peak too soon!

It's stormy here too. It was gorgeous this morning when I had a PT session (even my trainer thought I was mad getting up on my 40th grin). Luckily I can hop in the car and then the car park of the hotel is underground so I shouldn't get windswept at all.

casacastille Sat 02-Nov-13 16:59:24

No big celebration tonight as we had lunch out en famille. But I have fizz for now later, more nice food in fridge and the DC are making cakebirthday cakecake as I write

Have a great time! And oh look, it's drinking time! Cheers wine

shopafrolic Sat 02-Nov-13 17:20:08

Happy birthday and welcome Casa
QueenC enjoy the tingle of excitement getting ready. Can't wait to see pics and hear all about your night.
Lovely links Dry I can't spend any more now. I'm lethal during shooting season and could easily bankrupt DH being left on my own with DS every Saturday in foul weather smile
Marsha any parties for you ce soir?

Welcome and happy birthday casa thanks flowers

bargain of the day is a purple check, wool DKNY scarf for.....£8 grin

shopafrolic Sat 02-Nov-13 17:24:12

Happy Birthday! QueenC have a lovely evening, love all the presents, lucky you!

Dry - Those are lovely bags, I didn't realise TKMaxx had so many high end brands. Like the sound of your outfit with the bf jeans and leopard slipper flats, where did you get them?
Shop that Whistles sweatshirt is lovely and that shade of green is my favourite. I went to Hof but didn't see it there.
Novice your new bag is beyond lush! such a lovely colour.
I have quite a lot (£300) of Hof vouchers to spend that dh got given at work but bloody typical now can't find anything I like enough to buy. Any suggestions? I could wait for sales and get an Anya Hindmarch bag, If only Hof did Coach I really like their bags this season.

libertychick Sat 02-Nov-13 18:40:48

Popping in late in day to say Happy Birthday QueenC wine flowers smile

Off to check out the pics on pin.....

LinusDKD Sat 02-Nov-13 19:06:47

Will try and catch-up later bit these are the things DC bought for my birthday (will have to wait until Monday to receive them and DS has hidden them in his room in the mean time)

jumper in a gorgeous plum colour. I love the zippers on the cuffs.

And this shirt from a brand I have never heard of but I have been walking last the shop window for ages lusting after this denim (or chambray, what is the difference? ) shirt for weeks.

It was such a pleasure trying things on (even with DH and DC present) as the weight loss is really showing. I even had to size down on the shirt and the jumper!

I also tried a lovely Weekend Max Mara skirt but I was afraid the cut might make me look too big. I adore the colours and the fabric though so I will pin it and see if I can get it in the sales. And the real bonus of the day was that I could fit in a size 38! But the skirt is not fitted so that might be the reason. wink

This photo really doesn't do the skirt justice (the colours are a lot more vivid IRL) but was the only one I could find

I discovered today that you can send nail polish through the post, they just have to put a special sticker on the parcel. On another thread, I said to the Op that I'd send them a spare primer I had and I chucked in a few other bits and bobs I had spare to cheer her up as she seemed so down on herself. Hopefully the little parcel will make her smile smile

santamarianovella Sat 02-Nov-13 19:38:11

Cheapskate Prosecco here Dry I can't compete. Have fun x

one I really hope to meet you one day - you sound so lovely!

On the prosecco myself. Noticed Bollinger was on offer in Sainsbos today, may stock up for Xmas.

shopafrolic Sat 02-Nov-13 20:06:44

Love a bit of Bolly - will take a look

LinusDKD Sat 02-Nov-13 20:07:22

On the champagne here as well. Not Veuve though. <hic> might also have had a small White Lady whilst cooking

Funnily enough DP's drove to Reims today to stock up on champagne. That's Christmas sorted then. grin

That is a lovely thing to do one!

Lovely presents queenc and you look stunning tonight!

Happy birthday casacastille!

So many scorpio's on MNV!

ehh, i just realised that post might come across as a bit braggy. I didn't mean it to at all blush

pseudonymity Sat 02-Nov-13 21:06:00

Hello MNV. Just reporting that I am feeling very pleased with my purchase today, a midi length vintage wool pencil skirt. It's amazing. It's a size 14 and has a 26 inch waist! Luckily it also accommodates my rather large hips. Looking forward to catching up on your musings.

shopafrolic Sat 02-Nov-13 21:42:37

Love that AV jumper Linus
Really windy here tonight, bonkers weather.

it's really windy here too shop and it's pissing it down as well.

RubyLovesShopping Sat 02-Nov-13 21:46:44

V windy here too shop, we often lose roof tiles when it's this bad.
No shopping news to report, enjoying the links of all the new purchases.

Found some tube skirts in the bottom of the wardrobe with tags still attached. Size 14 (must have bought them ages ago and forgotten about them), I risked trying them on and I really didn't think they'd fit BUT THEY DO!! grin yes yes, I know, they are made of stretchy material but I'm taking it as a victory grin

Annianni Sat 02-Nov-13 22:21:35

Whose idea was it to drink prosecco tonight?
I'm drunk slightly tipsy.
Dh keeps laughing at me.
I am such a lightweight

Decameron did I really read that you sold 3 classic LV bags?!
Why would you do that?

Welcome Castille.

How much was the Bolly Amber?
I think we might need some grin

Oh, the pale grey Boden honeycomb jumper is here and it's nicer than the navy... I think.
Need to try it properly.

Thinking of you Foxy.
I'm dreading getting our kitchen done.
We've got a man coming next week to talk about putting central heating in <sob>
It'll be worth it when it's done.
But the floorboards being up, and the mess... awful!

I've run out of fizz.
Dh has suggested vodka.
Think that would be a very bad idea grin

Decameron Sat 02-Nov-13 22:47:12

Anni, I stupidly decided that as they were handheld bags, I wouldn't use them again for years, unless I carried DD1 around inside one like a pomeranian. I wish I'd kept one of the bags, at least.

Well done on the weight loss, One. I love those types of skirts.

Anni DO NOT mix grape and grain, you will regret it (leant from bitter experience)
Justaleopard flats fantastic value , have worn surprisingly well. bought in black suede them.

Why do you tease me with links to OOS leopard pumps Dry ?!? I really wanted those but no sight of them in my local M&S and wasn't able to travel to the next city over at the time sad

LinusDKD Sun 03-Nov-13 08:08:32

Look what I just got!

Pre-birthday breakfast in bed as doing it tomorrow would have been a bit difficult.

Hope it helps cure the slight hangover headache I have.

Yum Linus

MarshaBrady Sun 03-Nov-13 09:22:48

Perfect Linus! Looks so good.

I am joining you with eggs and coffee. Love Sunday breakfasts.

casacastille Sun 03-Nov-13 09:54:43

Cor, you lucky thing Linus! Love all your new clothes. Happy birthday for tomorrow flowers

I had rather a lot of champagne last night but it must've been good because astonishingly I have no hangover! The cake was amazing too, clever DD.

Now I must spend my birthday money. Starting with these TKMaxx jeans, perhaps? They won't make much of a dent in the budget, after all...grin Plenty left for the gorgeous Habitat throw I've had my eye on (no link, as it's not on their website)

Have a good day allgrin

Annianni Sun 03-Nov-13 10:20:59

I didn't mix grape and grain Dry grin

Bit of a fuzzy head today, but Ds2 woke up at 5 <sigh>

Annianni Sun 03-Nov-13 10:30:15

Marsha 60% off boots on Asos.
I've pinned some sensible ones on mnv for you.
You'll hate them as they're boring but warm grin

Lots of others though.

Annianni Sun 03-Nov-13 10:32:00

Decameron, I feel sad for you, with the LV's grin

shopafrolic Sun 03-Nov-13 10:46:53

Morning all! How's the head QueenC?

shopafrolic Sun 03-Nov-13 11:11:01

Lovely sunny day here but super cold - I may bail on wearing a silk shirt and wear the Vince sweater with my coated skinnies and Reiss heels. My DM bought a chunk of my M&S coat so I think I should wear it as we are lunching with them.
Will channel Jenna tomorrow for champagne breakfast instead.

noviceoftheday Sun 03-Nov-13 11:29:33

Morning all! Shop how is that coat? There is a biker one that I saw a couple of months ago that I liked and never got round to looking at it.

I was sooo tired last night. I was up from about 3am uk time when they started serving breakfast on the plane. I was first of the plane, bags came off first and there was no traffic on way home. I got in at 6.30am thinking I could sneak into bed with dh for ahem a morning tryst, and the alarm woke the kids up!grin So we ended up having a family cuddle in our bed. Dh was all excited about the thought of picking up where left off and I just passed out at 9.30pm! Dh said when he came to bed I was snoring!blush Today, I am still so tired. Yesterday was so busy that I haven't even unpacked. So I am now just shifting my toiletries to a smaller suitcase because I am off again tomorrow after I do the school run.

foxysocks Sun 03-Nov-13 11:34:01

that sounds like the perfect lunch outfit shop.

it's freezing here too and we have the downstairs doors/windows all open as DH is currently putting second layer of varnish on the wood floors. they look AMAZING.

marsha if you do go with reclaimed boards, but want them darker (as we did) I can tell you how we did it. you can pay £££ for the pros but if you or your DH can do basic painting/DIY it's not too hard to do yourself.

am wearing grey goldsigns, grey l/s top and pale grey poncho. grey-tastic. just like my new kitchen grin.

hope you had a fab night queenc, how is the head? weekend drinks great for me. make it a saturday and we can watch strictly as we quaff grin.

That breakfast picture is making me jealous!

Decameron Sun 03-Nov-13 11:43:11

Yes, life is harsh, Anni. Hope you get some rest later.

noviceoftheday Sun 03-Nov-13 11:49:58

How are you today foxy?

Both yours and Shops outfits sound lovely! I am in Primarni todaygrin. Orange sweater over a grey long tee. Always skinny gap jeans. Leather wrist wrap watch from Magnolia, my tanzanite and amethyst gold ring (present from mil last Xmas), Amethyst string bracelet and then somewhat bizarrely diamond pendant and diamond studs. The latter are because I have been too tired to take them off since I got back! I used my Aspinal biker bag when I went out earlier (the gold bits on handle match some of my jewellery!) and wore a Zara beige cord jacket with it. All old clothes but better put together than in the previous winters thanks to MNV.

There should be a sob emoticon for you Decam! And knowing what a bag fiend I am, I say that in all seriousness!

foxysocks Sun 03-Nov-13 12:22:00

i'm ok thanks novice. i still feel very overwhelmed but am trying to keep a lid on it.

You'll be fine foxy, one day at a time. You can get through it thanks

noviceoftheday Sun 03-Nov-13 12:36:05

You have sympathies. I feel like that too a lot sometimes. Juggling many spinning plates as a master dark art that can be overwhelming at times.

QueenCadbury Sun 03-Nov-13 13:28:05

Afternoon. Had a fabulous time. Will catch up properly later. Right now I need to lie down again grin

shopafrolic Sun 03-Nov-13 16:04:22

Yak is toasty warm. Lovely lunch.
For the foodies.....
Fish sharing latter with mackerel pate, smoked salmon, king prawns in garlic butter and whitebait. Then lamb rump with roast potatoes and artichoke. Yummy.

shopafrolic Sun 03-Nov-13 16:06:42

QueenCadbury Sun 03-Nov-13 17:00:05

After a massive fry up this morning we have now just ordered pizzas! Ultimate hangover food grin.

Last night was truly fantastic. Great food, great company, lots of dancing and too much wine! I felt amazing in the westwood even when I took my heels off and swapped for the hotel slippers grin.

MarshaBrady Sun 03-Nov-13 17:17:11

Thanks Foxy great tip.

Anni thanks for the boots suggestion! I'm not quite there yet, you know me well grin

QueenC excellent!

Shop pleased you got your Vince, lunch sounds good.

I'm in pjs hah, but in my defence I went for a run and didn't want to put on a new outfit after the shower.

MarshaBrady Sun 03-Nov-13 17:23:24

Novice you must be so tired! Hope you have a good rest tonight.

shopafrolic Sun 03-Nov-13 17:42:03

Annianni Sun 03-Nov-13 17:46:45

Glad you had a good night QueenC.

Lovely lunch Shop.

I knew you'd hate the boots Marsha grin
I think you'll have to be in several feet of snow, with wet feet before you even contemplate anything sensible!

Dh is in Disney dad mode again at the moment with dsd.
And I'm due on... never a good combination... argh!!!!

Annianni Sun 03-Nov-13 17:47:34

Safe travels Novice.

Shop your lunch sounds delicious. Think I might get into my pjs too.
One you're doing so well. Fantastic!
QueenC sounds like a fabulous birthday night.
Foxy your floors sound gorgeous. When's DH off?
Novice where you off to now? Love the matchy matchy.
It's been a bust half term, all guests gone.........need to detox now. Am feeling a tiny bit Christmassy ........--be warned I get the Christmas BIG time, fav time of year--

shopafrolic Sun 03-Nov-13 17:52:55

Me too Dry we may have to run a MNV Christmas edition………
QueenC get some pics on FB - I'm stalking you to see how wrecked you got!

Thanks dry blush

safe travels novice I hope you get some rest soon, you must be worn out!

Sounds fabulous QueenC you looked killer in the dress

MarshaBrady Sun 03-Nov-13 18:28:48

Christmas Vogue Edition sounds fab. Very stylish.

noviceoftheday Sun 03-Nov-13 18:39:59

Thanks all!thanks I am so knackered as of course I try and pack a million and one things in with the kids. It's Paris tomorrow morning. I have moved meetings so I can drop dd school but it will literally by drop dd, rush home and car should be waiting for me. Back Tuesday night. I have 4 more trips before Xmasshock

Marsha, I admire you running in this weather. It's strictly treadmill for me till April!

So, big announcement. I am in love. except I cannot find this coat anywhere in a 6 or 8.

I have seen this one which I like but it doesn't make my heart race as much.

noviceoftheday Sun 03-Nov-13 18:42:09

Dry, don't worry, you will have plenty of company. I love Christmas. Maybe even more than the MaxMara coat!

MarshaBrady Sun 03-Nov-13 18:47:59

Oh no Novice you have to get the one you love! The cashmere looks divine. I wonder if the MaxMara shop has it?

I know I love a bit of winter running. I remember running round a lake in Boston in the snow. I was all kind of colours from purple to yellow when I got back shock. And I underdress with just shorts and t, hate loads of layers. But maybe I'll buy something really lightweight.

shopafrolic Sun 03-Nov-13 19:19:45

DH is upstairs putting DS to bed <never happens> secretly getting him to draw in a birthday card for me. He seems to have forgotten that I can hear their schemes on the monitor - very cute.
novice surely there's a store in Paris? Please tell me you take a decent holiday at Christmas. You must have been on this thread for a year now and I can only recall you going to CP for a week..... You need a rest.....

LinusDKD Sun 03-Nov-13 19:46:08

novice that is a gorgeous coat! I hope you find one in your size.

And reading about your life makes me feel tired! wink

<mum voice> But seriously, you do need to take care of yourself and not overdo it!

shop that is so sweet! DS helped DH make breakfast in bed for me this morning but he also ate most of my bacon. hmm

And your lunch sounds delicious! Restaurants are such a dissapointment here. Average food, average decor, average service but above average prices. I do miss London food wise!

queenc it sounds like you had a wonderful party!

I have just realised I have no plans for tomorrow, apart from grocery shopping.

DC are at nursery, DH at work so I have all day to myself but I have no clue what to do.

DH let slip that the store where he bought my present is holding something for me in case his present isn't right (I guess size wise) so maybe I'll have to go into town and exchange it.

shopafrolic Sun 03-Nov-13 19:49:34

linus there must be a beauty salon nearby?? Book yourself in for a facial / massage / manicure?
Health centre? Swim, sauna, jacuzzi?
I am alone in the afternoon with DS - I'm praying there won't be tantrums, I think I'll cry!

shopafrolic Sun 03-Nov-13 19:54:16

QueenC loving the photos on FB. You look stunning.

shopafrolic Sun 03-Nov-13 19:54:33

And quite pissed grin

Mmmmmm......think I may make Christmas cake next week very boozy of course MNV Christmas edition is an excellent idea! Found a sparkly possible Christmas Day jumper in Zara but website is going a bit funny and I can't it just me hmm
Shop that's so love a conspiracy smile
Linus I agree with Shop pamper yourself.
Marsha you're amazing.....I hate running at the best of times! running in the rain......noooooooooooooooooo.
Novice beautiful coats.....hope you can find them in Paris .

LinusDKD Sun 03-Nov-13 20:19:26

shop I have just painted my nails (a very fetching grey) and I had a facial and hammam last week but maybe I'll see if I can book a massage or a blowdry.

dry that is such an English tradition, a Christmas jumper! grin

noviceoftheday Sun 03-Nov-13 20:29:23

Have to say I feel knackered today! I feel like I just have to grind through the next few weeks. Funny you mentioned holidays Shop as i was thinking about them today as to didn't feel we had enough of them this year despite 10 days long haul just after Christmas, then the Med in April then CP in August. Two were hard work though as ds wasn't sleeping. Dh doesn't want to go away after Christmas this year but we will have 10 days at home for sales shopping. I am thinking of Turkey in April, Cyprus in July and CP at the end of August.

shopafrolic Sun 03-Nov-13 20:32:32

Glad to hear holidays are on the agenda novice
linus nail painting here too - anyone would think we had a birthday coming up. Definitely pamper yourself tomorrow. If I could fly over we could spa day together! <just dreaming>

MarshaBrady Sun 03-Nov-13 20:35:28

Ah I wish we were in the same city Linus, we all were we could sneak off and do a birthday lunch mini mu! We'll be singing happy birthday to you from afar.

Dry I'm not that keen on the having to get fit first part, so once I've started I have to go otherwise I fade out and lose interest!

Am wondering whether my nail varnish will last one more day...v fussy about chips but can't be bothered to do them again.
Linus it's a v tasteful jumper!!!!!
Anyone else having problems with Zara website? Or is it just me? hmm

shopafrolic Sun 03-Nov-13 20:40:58

dry whack another layer of topcoat on

I've painted may nails, bright shocking pink with black crackle polish over the top and I have a cake in the oven for DP grin I hope it turns out ok, I haven't actually baked anything in years!

Will do Shop and it can dry during Downton.......

LinusDKD Sun 03-Nov-13 20:48:47

Oh don't let me daydream about spending the day in London tomorrow.

Breakfast at the Wolseley, some shopping, sushi at Kulu Kulu in Soho, some more shopping and then dinner somewhere yummy. And drinking bubbles with MNVoguettes, of course.

Last time I was in London I was pregnant with DD and got all dressed up for dinner with DH. Only to find that the über fancy Italian restaurant we had booked (on Savile Row, forgotten the name) had been closed that day by Health and Safety because of a 'mice problem'. shock

So DH and I (hobbling on high heels) ended up trying to find a table on a Friday evening in Mayfair without a booking. In the end we had a nice meal in an ok fish restaurant but were decidedly overdressed.

QueenCadbury Sun 03-Nov-13 20:51:50

Phew, the hangover has subsided finally!

I've spent the evening looking at grey bags and there's a couple I quite like on the coach website. There's also a clay longchamp which may be a grey-y brown colour in a style I love. But now I'm having cold feet about spending more than £200 on a bag. Tell me ladies, is it really worth it? I need convincing.

LinusDKD Sun 03-Nov-13 20:59:02

queenc it really depends on the bag. But if it is a quality bag and you love it and will get lots of enjoyment from it, then yes.

Right, bed time. Need my beauty sleep for the big day tomorrow. Night night.

MarshaBrady Sun 03-Nov-13 21:11:27

Sounds lovely Linus, good night!

QueenC if you love it and as Linus said yes.

Just started watching a movie Now You See It and it starts with magic tricks. Someone flicks through a deck if cards for someone to choose. And I picked the right one. Freaky!

Am bidding on Ebay....stressful........--for DH--

santamarianovella Sun 03-Nov-13 21:52:32

linus hope you get to do something enjoyable on your birthday,i didnt get to celebrate mine,so its nice to here all your celebrations, i think the restaurant you mentioned on savile row is sartoria? if so ,you have not missed a thing!

shop your lunch sounds amazing!

linus the coat is gorgeous, there is a huge maxmara on st honore,do check it out, safe journey!

dry i love christmas sweaters too!

queen in my opinion,if its a good bag that will last ,then yes,its worth it.

marsha that movie is amazing we watched last weekend,i watch anything with morgan freeman in it,he is brilliant.

DS saw him as God in Evan Almighty when he was little.........every time we saw MF in a movie he'd yell "it's God!".... We still do it even though we're all old enough to know better grin

Cake appears to have turned out alright! No cake for me though, I am sticking to my diet, I didn't even sneak a taste of the buttercream topping <polishes halo>

MarshaBrady Sun 03-Nov-13 22:03:50

Haha Dry!

Santa really enjoying it.

I got the title wrong it's now you see me. If anyone watches if pleease try and guess the card in the first scene and let me know if you guess it.

MarshaBrady Sun 03-Nov-13 22:05:16

Good one One.

santamarianovella Sun 03-Nov-13 22:07:18

dry i watched through the wormhole a dozen times ,and im not into astrophysics, ,i even understood half the stuff he said.!

Santa you have totally lost me......being a bit thick hmm

Right, I'm feeling a bit nervous about my Ebay purchase.
I wanted to get DH this for his Christmas present (Sleep I have ordered the Turbo trainer for his birthday) and was just looking on ebay and found exactly the blazer bnwt in his size....just won it for £149. Now I'm really worried because it seems to good to be true (you can return within 5....5!!!!.....days). Feeling a bit sick actually. Reassure me........could it be a style they do every autumn and it be last year's or something?

I'd guess that they do either that blazer or at least a variation of it every year Dry looks like a fairly classic style to me and definitely seems like the type of thing they'd bring back seasonally`

santamarianovella Sun 03-Nov-13 22:41:13

dry morgan freeman has a program on the discovery channel called throught the wormhole its a geeky program, but i watch it,as his narration is excellent!

i think thats a classic blazer that they produce each season,or maybe its one of those what was i thinking purchases, and the seller cant return it bsck?but dont panic you can send it back if you are not sure.

Thanks Santa and One I'll try not to panic. If it is ok I'll have got an incredible bargain.

Santa he has an amazing voice it's true! that show does ring a bell actually.

Don't hesitate to send it back though if it's not right dry and if you do send it back, make sure you send it back signed for (as long as the seller is in UK obviously)

Well done on resisting One smile. Nails sound fab.

Lovely day today, windy walk up Parliament Hill with DC's and some friends, wrapped up in thick cashmere jumper, wooly tights, James Perse skirt and wellies! Back to friends' house for lunch and red wine while DC's played. Chilled evening at home, just watched two more episodes of Breaking Bad with DH (always meant to be one but we can't rests another, so compulsive!).

Queen you looked fabulous last night! glad you had a great time. Assume you have been in blotus position most of today smile

Outnet orders have been dispatched, looking forward to delivery.

noviceoftheday Mon 04-Nov-13 10:54:43

Unhappy days.....I couldn't drop dd to school today because of horrendous traffic. We were both upset. I can only do my job if I know the dcs are alright so a bit sad today.

On slightly happier note, I am clutching new Prada, wearing the shoe boots and wanting to my stroke my tanzanite

On a guilty note, I rediscovered my jaeger wool coat bought last season that still has the tags on. blush

Gah - I missed DHL with my jumpers sad

Happy Birthday Shop and Linus! Have a lovely day.

I didn't get the GAP email...unusual...please could someone let me know the code?

Novice - try and smile, I'm sure DD will have recovered quickly once at school sad.

mignonnette Mon 04-Nov-13 13:54:38

Linus and Shop

Happy Birthday To You flowers and cake and wine !!!!

Have a wonderful day!

Am Freezing today- so cold. Am in geometric midnight blue and white Pencil skirt, woolly black tights, ACNE shoe boots (old), old Helmut T shirt with twisted neck line and a vintage YSL Rive Gauche needlecord Tux style jacket bought from a consignment store in Cambridge back in 2004. Very cold. Outfit works well w/ my silver Luella bag.

Had a sleep filled weekend as my umpteenth course of dental antibiotics have knocked me for six. I really am at the end of my tolerance. So sozed in a chair w/ a pile of old US Vogues from 2001-3. Some gorgeous Narcisso Rodriguez silk dresses and Talbot camel coats in the editorials. And veru nice to see women actually wearing their coats properly. I for one am heartily sick of this silly habit of 'shoulder robing' ones coat. It looks ludicrous. (IMO). Very few women can carry it off and when men do it- there are no words.

Queen Bet you looked hot and what a lovely belt- kind of a pebble blue-grey. Very versatile.

shopafrolic Mon 04-Nov-13 14:31:13

Champagne breakfast was accompanied by Elemis facial - lovely!
Lovely colour belt QueenC how are the shakes?

LinusDKD Mon 04-Nov-13 14:40:23

What horrible weather, but I have had a lovely day so far.

First opening my presents in bed with DH and DC. smile

DH got me this and I love it. He has obviously been looking at my pinterest boards.

Mine looks a bit more blue IRL but maybe it's the lighting. I did have to go and exchange it for a smaller size, but DH had one put aside just in case.

And DMIL sent me a lovely Le Pliage shopper in a gorgeous plum colour. DM paid towards my bikers when I bought them in the summer and I have been wearing them today as it is so wet outside.

I had a quick lunch in town with a friend and then a make-over at Nars. I might have bought a bit too much make-up as a result. blush

Oh and I managed to forget a shopping bag in a department store, but I rang them and they have found it. Phew. It only had three pairs of knickers in them but still relieved I can go and pick it up next time I'm in town.

I should try and do something about my hair before going out tonight but there's really no point as the rain will mess it all up again.

How was your lunch shop ?

novice (((hugs))) That must have been so hard on you and DD.

dry that is a lovely jacket you bought for DH. Oh and I saw your Christmas jumper at Zara and it looks lovely. They also had it in navy and a lovely anthracite grey.

queenc that is a great belt!

foxy fingers crossed about the sweater!

QueenCadbury Mon 04-Nov-13 14:41:57

hola mamma. stick around, bring link grin

am just peeling myself up off the floor after the revelation that kitchen makers want £60 PER BASKET for the ones I presumed were included in our larder pantry. fucking hell! I'd expect it to be gold plated for that. or include a cashmere sweater or something.

off to check out pin queenc (sorry forgot to reply to pm but yes! <prances off in seamed stockings> wink)

foxysocks Mon 04-Nov-13 17:19:09

have commented. LOVE LOVE LOVE the bag but the lining makes me want to stick sharp pins in my eyes just so I never have to see it again. WHY, MJ, why on EARTH would you ruin your gorgeous squishy beautiful bags with this? TELL ME.

shopafrolic Mon 04-Nov-13 17:27:25

Hello all.
Wave of relaxation post Elemis facial was broken by tantrumming DS all the way home from nursery. Have had lots of visits from friends this afternoon, one of whom bought me the most beautiful roses in miniature glass bottles in a metal holder - stunning (bad description).
Linus what a beautiful gift - your DH sounds fab, especially leaving a smaller size aside for you in-store. Glad you've had a good day with lots of pampering smile
Not sure what to wear for dinner tonight - feels weird to get overdressed on a Monday…….
Mamma Grinning right back - welcome - and yes to links - are you on Pin?
One AMAZING - well done! Sleep is a star. I can hear how much happier you sound - fab news.
Dry Off to look at Christmas jumper - and QueenC's bag…….
Novice sending hugs and more safe travel wishes

shopafrolic Mon 04-Nov-13 17:27:41

Foxy bonkers price for baskets!

Nice bag Queen, I am a sucker for squishy grey bags.

Welcome mamma smile

Lovely DHL man came back As he knows I am usually in after 4pm grin, the grey cashmere jumper is totally divine, I may just live in it all winter smile. by contrast, the coral one feels too cheap and flimsy so I have no problem sending it back.

I really can't claim much credit for One's weight loss achievements, she's the dedicated one smile. So pleased for you One!

There's all manner of treats in the fridge, chocolate cake, screme eggs, cheese.....I have resisted temptation and have just had a bowl of gluten free porridge oats with sliced banana. <polishes halo>

QueenCadbury Mon 04-Nov-13 17:44:02

Welcome mamma.

I had been prepared to forgive the lining but foxy you've made me think now that I may too have to stick pins in my eyes grin.

MarshaBrady Mon 04-Nov-13 17:48:56

I can't get into pin as need to get on the mac. But I knew it would be MJ making people react to the lining. I don't know why it has to be so bold.

shopafrolic Mon 04-Nov-13 17:57:28

QueenC if this is going to be your first £££ bag you must get one that you completely love - lining, hardware, all of it….

shopafrolic Mon 04-Nov-13 17:59:46

Sleep good to know about the coral sweater……. Glad the grey is so lush.

MarshaBrady Mon 04-Nov-13 18:02:25

Ah shame about the coral Sleep <feels responsible>

But knew the grey would be fab!

shopafrolic Mon 04-Nov-13 18:27:37

Didn't DMBL40 do a piece on grey bags???

Evening and welcome to check bag..........

MarshaBrady Mon 04-Nov-13 18:54:32

Welcome Mamma.

Ooooh was sooooo close to buying a clutch bag on the Outnet (naughty Queenc for tempting me!) then remembered I'm saving for my coat....drat

MarshaBrady Mon 04-Nov-13 19:03:08

I like this slouchy bag, but navy and might feel like a bottomless pit looking for stuff.

Not your fault Marsha, to be fair, it's not that bad, but pretty much any jumper will come off badly in comparison to the grey one smile. It wouldn't tick the love it box for me even in the absence of the grey though, so not a keeper. Am having dilemma over slinky Stella slip....not sure cpw would be great, but should I just say what the hell? Cheaper than fancy bra and knickers and much more comfy....

I like that too Marsha

I love that slip sleep IF I get down to a reasonable size, I'd definitely be having on of those! grin

one, not on

when , not if One, WHEN!

yes, WHEN not if, you are right <bad One> wink

MarshaBrady Mon 04-Nov-13 19:31:43

True Sleep. I'd love a soft jumper like that, with that original price and discount. Gotta be good grin

MarshaBrady Mon 04-Nov-13 19:32:08

And yes to slip, very pretty.

santamarianovella Mon 04-Nov-13 19:36:20

we have not heard of mcnally in a long time, hope all is alright smile

foxysocks Mon 04-Nov-13 19:45:12

oh no queenc, if you can forgive it then get the bag! it's really gorgeous. I found it so frustrating when I was looking around christmas time, i do think they are beautiful bags, but like shop said on pin for £300 you have to love every bit of it. if you do then fab!

Decameron Mon 04-Nov-13 20:30:06

QueenC, I have the M by MJ Natasha, really love it and will get it in black or navy soon. Less loud lining would be better but only I see it and it's still a lovely bag. Also like Coach a lot and it is similarly priced. My friend has this Whistles bag which I also like a lot.

Aw, hope yours and DD's day picked up, Novice.

Gorgeous presents, Linus.

You looked lovely on pin, Shop.

The slip is very pretty, Sleep.

Very well done, One.

For anyone with a spare £3k for SS14.............anyone ? grin
I feel some shoe links coming on grin

MarshaBrady Mon 04-Nov-13 20:51:39

They are crying out for a pet budgie inside the cage.

And a bag to match not sure whether this is gross or actually quite nice? I haven't been drinking

Marsha perhaps a canary? grin

Good god Marsha I have found your Christmas party shoe then you could be 7ft tall grin

MarshaBrady Mon 04-Nov-13 20:59:08

lol! So funny. What is going on with shoes grin

The clutch, yes I see what you mean. It's ugly and reminds me of something I made once in 7th grade. But you know it's so bad it could be good.

MarshaBrady Mon 04-Nov-13 21:00:13

And I love the whole D&G top and black Acne pants it's shown with. Very nice indeed.

Oh fantastic.....and I have surpassed myself .....if you have a spare £10k tasteful, not at all ostentatious dress........think it's v me grin

MarshaBrady Mon 04-Nov-13 21:08:38

Very nice Dry!

mignonnette Mon 04-Nov-13 21:14:23

I have been browsing in Top Shop of all places and here is my selection-

Luminous green coat;

Or in yellow;

I wanna be big Bird;

This reminds me of Australian school dresses;

Have ordered this for parties and outings. I think it'll look amazing w/ midnight blue or camel;

Another party skirt;

I see this worn in a Beat Girl style w/ low turtle neck merino sweater and my Vivier Belle De Jours;

And I need to find this.

You can all take your sunglasses off now- the bright colour torture is all over.

One My love- VERY WELL DONE!

thanks Mig grin I have delicious roasted veg and tuna in the oven, I am STARVING, wasting away I tell you!

mignonnette Mon 04-Nov-13 21:25:10

I have been on a dietary curb. I have been eating Yorkshire Provender red pepper, tomato and wensleydale cheese soup- 350 cals a bowl. Tonight i had chicken breast w/ lettuce, asparagus, peas, courgette and tomato. No chocolate, no candy, no ice cream. Have had rotten reaction to multiple antibiotic courses and cannot take my ulcer meds w/ one of them so having to control diet to minimise symptoms.

Feel lighter, less bloated. Am looking at holidays to Mexico for the Spring (tax money) and need to be thin, thin, thin!

mignonnette Mon 04-Nov-13 21:26:30

Dry those D&G dresses weigh nearly eight pounds!

How on earth are they cleaned?

LinusDKD Mon 04-Nov-13 21:30:53

Had a lovely evening with DH.

Wore Loubs, black Sportmax dress, Marithé + François Girbaud jacket, black south sea pearl earrings (Present from DM last Christmas) and Hermès bracelet.

I am a very happy (and tired) Linus!

Night night.

MarshaBrady Mon 04-Nov-13 21:33:46

Linus gorgeous outfit, perfect! Glad you had a lovely time.

Mig how exciting re Mexico.

santamarianovella Mon 04-Nov-13 21:39:48

dry, omg! Even though I have Sicilian blood in me,I would never ever find these gabbana pieces beautiful! What were they thinking! But did laugh at your shoes choice for marsha!grin,

mig love your TP shopping,

In other news the gorgeous nicolas ghesquire, here has been appointed as head designer at vuitton, really looking forward to what he will do.

santamarianovella Mon 04-Nov-13 21:41:36

Oh! mig how exciting! Always wanted to go to Mexico,

linus outfit sounds great!

Linus you are a v chic lady....I love a LBD . Thought of you tonight when I tried on my mint green sweater.
Mig I saw a young woman wearing the lime green coat in town???nearly crashed the car! she looked a bit like Kermit, but it was actually v cool worn with black. Like the pink skirt ESP.

Santa I knew you had Italian meet up I said I thought you were a little Italian lady ! with a loud voice like me I seem to remember I agree, some d and g stuff is divine (Italian widow look, lots of it) but this stuff shock

libertychick Mon 04-Nov-13 21:46:39

One that is so impressive - very well done.

Happy birthday Shop and Linus cake, wine flowers

After the reviews on here I went into EWM yesterday and got this tartan scarf. It's great! Very soft and warm and at £12 for 100% wool what's not to love?!

Had exactly 28 mins in Cos between meetings today smile. Enough time to try and buy a merino oversize sweater dress in dark grey - bit of a different look for me. This dress was lovely but the shape not quite right, loved this cardi in Mulberry. I liked loads of things in there today - could easily have spent a lot, some lovely sweaters.

Great Topshop selection Mig.

Is anyone planning to hit H&M for the Marant stuff on the 14th?

mignonnette Mon 04-Nov-13 21:48:25

grin at Linus seeing that car crash coat! Your outfit does sound chic.

Marsha V V interesting Vuitton appointment. Wouldn't have put Ghesquiere w/ LV and he was so Balenciaga but will await w/ breath abated. LV was getting a little too self referential and bourgeois I think.

I lived in Mexico as a child so very badly want to return. Have started brushing up on my Mexican, trying to translate as i think.

MarshaBrady Mon 04-Nov-13 21:51:52

Gorgeous shopping Liberty. How are things?

Mig think that was Santa but agree with both of you grin

mignonnette Mon 04-Nov-13 21:52:22

Liberty That grey dress will suit so many different colours and accessories- great choice.

I'm not going to bother w/ Marant- I suspect some of the fabrics may be dreck and the hype is too much for me. I like one of the chiffony dresses though and the sweatshirting.

I get Fashion Oppositional Defiance Disorder when I feel pushed towards mass worship of a designer. I do like Marant knitwear and coats though.

mignonnette Mon 04-Nov-13 21:53:36

Sorry Santa I meant the Ghesquiere comments to be directed back to you. Thanks Marsha for pointing that out smile. The thread moves so fast.

MarshaBrady Mon 04-Nov-13 21:54:12

I love Marant. But I feel a bit pouty at the thought of how close that H&M stuff is, in terms of looking like her mainline stuff.

It really is very similar, but perhaps yes quality reduced.

I much prefer it when the collabs don't rip the mainline off so much.

ooh, Mexico, how exciting Mig

I'm not touching the collab stuff. I just don't like any of it enough to bother

justasecond Mon 04-Nov-13 22:00:17

Evening all! Happy birthday to Shop and Linus hope you have had good days.

Am worn out, have been on the go all day. I was only home for 15 mins at lunchtime but managed to catch the DHL man with my MJ bag
:// Have given it a very quick look so far but am not convinced about it. The colour is more of a dark forest green, not unpleasant but different to the picture. Also the gold hardware is a lot brighter and obvious than I thought it would be. It is a good size though. Will give it some further thought, am wondering whether a Coach would be better or AH Maxi cross body. Anyone have any other suggestions. I like the larger version of the Too Hot to Handle Marsha linked to but I am trying to get a smaller bag as my poor shoulders are worn out with the amount of crap I cart around.
Must go and do some tidying up now as house is a tip and I have only just eaten!
Oooh btw Annianni if you are there, have you noticed any bobbling on your Cos coat? I have only worn mine 3-4times and I noticed some bobbling under the arms today. I might try and waer it a bit more to see what happends.

MarshaBrady Mon 04-Nov-13 22:00:30

Having said that I haven't actually bought any of the H&M / designer stuff. Not even the Marni.

santamarianovella Mon 04-Nov-13 22:01:26

dry dh always says its the littlest things that are the loudest! grin.

mig i agree, marc jacobs lost it a long time ago! and that yellow TOP SHOP coat is a good copy of the famous yellow coat worn by the queen of belgium ,cant remember the designer!

liberty lovely stuff at cos,i think i wont go to the marant collab, i feel i have enough already, would like to save for a few things i want to get in sales.

QueenCadbury Mon 04-Nov-13 22:03:42

So we've just had our annual financial review. I tried to convince our advisor that I'd be better off investing in handbags rather than ISAs grin.

Thnks for all the comments on pin. I'm going to go to bristol tomorrow and see if HN or HOF have anything and then will make a decision about the MJ. It would be good if i could see the lining irl. Now that amber has cast her expert winter eye over the longchamps I'm in agreement that no matter how hard I try to convince myself, they do not match my mole swatch!

Lovely dress liberty

Wasn't that green top shop coat the one dmbl40 sent her husband to get then returned it because he kept calling her kermit?

Whoever mentioned the whistles bag, i've already seen that and discounted it as it has gold hardware which I don't like.

libertychick Mon 04-Nov-13 22:03:51

grin at Fashion Oppositional Defiance Disorder!!! I don't have the patience to queue but I like the look of this coatigan - I imagine it's probably acrylic though!

I'm beat Marsha [yawn] 4 meetings today, 3 in central London, one out in the sticks, off to Lanzarote on Saturday for 10 days - cannot wait!

I'm pleased with the Cos dress - thanks for the feedback. I'm thinking wedge heels, opaques and a statement necklace with it for work and then with leggings or skinnies, bikers and a big scarf for a weekend look.

justasecond Mon 04-Nov-13 22:08:03

I like your Cos dress Liberty in fact I have a couple of v similar looking ones from there. I really like Cos all my most worn clothes are from there.

justasecond Mon 04-Nov-13 22:09:18

Ooh which MJ bag are you looking at QueenC?
...I really must go and tidy now

QueenCadbury Mon 04-Nov-13 22:10:01

mig thanks to your pin I've just looked at NAP and now I want this instead of a grey bag grin

libertychick Mon 04-Nov-13 22:10:14

Wow justa well done tidying at this time. I am in bed!

Santa and Marsha I have never bought any 'collaboration' clothes either - I always worry it's a bit 'try hard'.

QueenCadbury Mon 04-Nov-13 22:12:09

Anyone like owls??

libertychick Mon 04-Nov-13 22:12:50

QueenC I LOVE the indigo bag, love it. Great colour. wonders if you could colour in the white letters in the lining with a black indelible marker grin

libertychick Mon 04-Nov-13 22:14:08

That owl bag looks like something from Claire's accessories - DD would love it!

Liberty can you link your wedge heels for work? Keep trying to find some I like.....

DH and I have just agreed a weekend away without the DC's later this I'll be keeping that slip wink...although I may have to wear it sooner than that to win the argument over where we should go hmm

One I hope you were just hungry for dinner and aren't feeling hungry all the time! that's not the idea! no calorie counting/starvation allowed <stern>.

Oh my god QueenC sometimes I wonder shock.......I really love the MJ hillier q bag, great style.......

Ooh, I prefer the navy too QueenC, despite my love of grey that's much more striking, leather looks more expensive.

No no sleep, I was just hungry because it was time for dinner! I am actually getting used to the fact that i actually feel hungry now instead of just .....not.

Queen, Darling... my dd loves owls too...just showed it to DH as a possible Christmas present for her, curiously he wasn't convinced grin even at £27.30 I don't think he would have been. How long before we see that little gem on the Outnet?

santamarianovella Mon 04-Nov-13 22:20:56

justa i like some of coach bags, they have some very beautiful understated designs, give it a go.

queen going and having a look in RL,is the best thing,i agree with everyone, you have to be %100 happy with it,lining and all!

liberty hope you get to rest this evening, thats a lot for one day!
i went to the lanvin collab, and after queuing for 2 hours went for a look inside and left without anything! it was madness!,

mignonnette Mon 04-Nov-13 22:21:20

That is THE one. A lovely bag.

My DD loves owls. But I do not like fur. That looks like a weird lab cloning between a Gonk and an Owl and Denis Healey's eyebrows.

Liberty i really enjoyed Lanzarote. We stayed at Costa Teguise and visited Papagayo beach which is beautiful. Fab weather too (we went in Late Dec).

libertychick Mon 04-Nov-13 22:25:22

Dry I got them in M&S a couple of months ago but they have never been on the website to link - very like these ones but mine have a plain rather than patterned wedge. Very comfortable!

Sleep the slip is a must for a weekend away wink.

shopafrolic Mon 04-Nov-13 22:25:44

Bloody hell you lot! I only went out for a few hours!!!
Wearing A&W silk shirt, Goldsign lures, faithful Floretes. YSL Arty ring and Kenneth JL gold necklace under shirt collar.
For the foodies (sorry to those on diets) we ate a sharing platter of olives, breads, mozzarella, chorizo, capers etc. I had steak frites with a peppercorn butter and tomato and onion salad, vanilla panna cotta with stewed apple. I am stuffed and cannot move.
Lots of great chat with DH, one of those nights when it reaffirms to you that you married the right man IYSWIM. He's been lovely. I've been spoilt. Night all. X

santamarianovella Mon 04-Nov-13 22:26:01

sleep how cute!..not!,by the time it gets to the outnet, the poor thing would have lost all its mink fur!

noviceoftheday Mon 04-Nov-13 22:27:30

Bonsoir mes Voguettes! Busy night on here!

I love Ghesquiere, his last collection for Balenciaga was spectacular. Louis Vuitton may now become something I might consider wearing.

Won't bother with Marant x H&M a. Because I don't rate collaborations (though my silver sandals from the Marni one are ok) and b because she is on the whole too hippy for me (says she with a pair of IM animal print ponyskin wedge trainers on her Matches wishlist)

Order a navy Barbour arctic parka today after some tedious umming and ahhing on another thread. Hope it will be good!

Decameron Mon 04-Nov-13 22:32:56

Justa, if you don't love it, send it back. I have the AH satchel in red and a couple of Coach, both great brands. The AH sale is always good..

Get well soon, Mig.

Decameron Mon 04-Nov-13 22:33:47

Won't be bothering with Marant for H&M either.

libertychick Mon 04-Nov-13 22:34:27

Ahhhh Shop nice to hear you all loved up!

Night, night, enjoyed the chat!

That's so nice Shop...... Lovely menu.

santamarianovella Mon 04-Nov-13 22:36:35

night shop! your evening sounds lovely.

Blimey DH has asked me to e mail him links to pressie ideas for my Xmas .....hee hee

For liberty hat

Annianni Mon 04-Nov-13 23:55:21

I've found your bag on another site Queenc, they have lots of lovely MBMJ in every colour going, and they do decent discount codes too.
It's pinned on mnv for you.

I've worn my coat half a dozen times Justa.
I'll look for bobbles tomorrow and let you know.
I love it, it makes me feel instantly smart er than normal

QueenCadbury Tue 05-Nov-13 06:25:05

Thanks * anni*. Do there prices change regularly? I'm sure it was more expensive on there yesterday! Now cheaper.

Will see if I can see the lining irl today and make a decision < gets pins ready to stick in eyes in case needed>

Anni that's a v dangerous site....must switch off and go to work........ one more tiny peek

Mignonette Tue 05-Nov-13 07:56:19

Drooling at that hat, One.

The Outnet discount regularly but t'is a gamble Queen.

Am wondering if I can go to work in my dressing gown? Am so cold and it is so miserable with that fine sleety mizzle that seems wetter than big raindrops.

So what to wear? I think it'll be a day for my old plaid wool pants-ice blue and black check w/ a sloppy dark grey sweatshirt, white shirt underneath and my old strapped shoe boot that look very much like these.

Mignonette Tue 05-Nov-13 08:02:48

Come to Mama.

shopafrolic Tue 05-Nov-13 08:33:16

Morning all - that's stunning Mig

libertychick Tue 05-Nov-13 08:49:37

Great hat one. Not my colour unfortunately - love the blue detail on the trim.

Your outfit for today sounds great Mig

Was too tired to hunt for links last night! These are the other items I tried/liked in Cos yesterday...

Basic merino crew neck sweaters - really lovely shape and seemed good quality
Another basic jumper, the pink is gorgeous I like an elbow patch! Great price.
Navy/Black colour block jumper
Grey skirt Very nearly bought this but (a) I really don't need a grey skirt! I NEED a navy one and (b) the pockets stuck out ever so slightly - not a lot but enough to annoy me.

Mignonette Tue 05-Nov-13 09:04:56

That's a lovely pink sweater-almost Foxglove pink w/ some blue in it.

libertychick Tue 05-Nov-13 09:11:48

It is a lovely colour Mig. I am slightly regretting not getting it! I thought it would be good over a chambray shirt or white shirt.

Mignonette Tue 05-Nov-13 09:20:30

That is how I'd wear it Liberty. Chambray would really bring out the blue tones in it.
Maybe order it online grin?

libertychick Tue 05-Nov-13 09:47:58

grin at Mig enabling!
I refuse to pay £6 delivery - and I am trying not to spend as much on is tempting though!

Mignonette Tue 05-Nov-13 09:52:29

That is a lot pulls back from enabling smile.

Hop on the tube?

libertychick Tue 05-Nov-13 09:54:53

That could be an option - I think I have a meeting in central London on Thursday - maybe then and gives me a day or two to decide if I really need it. I am half afraid to go back in - so much temptation!

Mignonette Tue 05-Nov-13 10:03:46

I know. One needs to be strong to walk into COS and walk out w/ just the intended garment.

Good luck!

grin grin I have broken the 16 stone barrier, now 15 stone 13 grin grin

shopafrolic Tue 05-Nov-13 12:25:03

Well done One that's amazing! You'll have to have a whole new wardrobe soon.

QueenCadbury Tue 05-Nov-13 12:25:04

Back from shopping. Saw the MJ bags in both blue and grey. Perfect colours, perfect size and even the lining didn't put me off. But it just didn't grab me in the way I thought it would. I was so excited to find it online but irl it just didn't do if for me especially for £350. I want something that will excite in years to come still. Am I expecting too much confused. Still, all was not lost, I made one or 2 other purchases. Will link later as must do some chores.

shopafrolic Tue 05-Nov-13 12:25:41

Just been for physio and needling - my back emitted some terrifying cracks and bangs - I feel an inch taller now!

Decameron Tue 05-Nov-13 12:42:14

I got an email the other day to say shipping is free at Cos until end of November. What is the sizing like on the pink jumper w elbow patches, Liberty please? I am a 10/12 on top would I need medium or small?

Decameron Tue 05-Nov-13 12:42:47

And well done, One!

Well done One - other than thrilled about the weight loss, how are you feeling?

Shop you reminded me I need to book a sports massage at local osteo clinic. Invariably this ends up with lots of my upper back being crunched and needles involved...great afterwards though isn't it!

I have just been pinning stuff on a Christmas wish list board. Rockstuds feature (worth a go hmm)!

Mignonette Tue 05-Nov-13 13:00:48

My son has just passed his driving test! Yay!

libertychick Tue 05-Nov-13 13:27:58

That's great news one.
Well done to your son Mig and yay to freedom from being a taxi service!!! Now he can collect you after a big night!

Decam I am 10/12 on top too, I tried the medium and it was a good fit for wearing with a shirt underneath - I'd say go for small though if you want a more fitted look. Is there a code for free shipping? It's a good length too so perfect with your height I think.

libertychick Tue 05-Nov-13 13:29:34

I had a Thai massage at the weekend - was amazing. I honestly looked younger after it - she commented on the amount of tension in my head shock.

libertychick Tue 05-Nov-13 13:49:32

Right, I am so easily led, the combination of Mig's enabling and Decam's validation plus alerting to the free shipping has MADE me order the pink jumper smile ignores the fact that I managed a crazy diary day to wangle in 28 mins in Cos so am ultimately responsible

QueenC it's interesting that the bag doesn't impress you in the flesh. I get like this too - I think if you are not used to spending a lot on these items deciding to buy one can feel like a huge thing and then ultimately it is just a bag and it won't change your life etc!! The best way for me is deciding that I am 'allowed' to spend the money when the time is right, put the cash aside and then one day you will see something you love and you know you can just get it. Most of the nicest things I have are those I bought when I just saw them and fell instantly in love.

Mignonette Tue 05-Nov-13 14:19:20

Just call me the PUsher of Pink Sweaters. heh heh. That is a lovely lovely colour and will make Winter better for those around you smile]. I like it when the office is full of bright colours.

Queen Not everybody goes GaGa for bags and you may well not lose your heart to one. I'm not fussed about evening wear TBH. You may meet 'the one' or have loads of 'ones'. I have met people who care little for lingerie and I am shock at that as I adore it but horses for courses.

MarshaBrady Tue 05-Nov-13 14:24:59

Glad you got the sweater Liberty. It's lovely.

I've pinned two on mnv, I really need a warm one. There may be a few to choose between but out of the two, I'd love to know which one everyone prefers.

Thanks everyone.

sleep , I feel really good, haven't suffered with PMT AT ALL this month, my skin is clearing up, hardly a spot or bump in sight, my moods have definitely lifted, haven't had any mass crying fits or anything since starting this. I have more energy so have been getting around a lot more without being worn out so much.

Well done to your son Mig smile

libertychick Tue 05-Nov-13 14:38:10

Marsha I have commented on pin - on a straight vote I would go for I&I but it's tough!

MarshaBrady Tue 05-Nov-13 14:42:38

Thanks Liberty!

I do love that one, I just need to think about whether I should wait for one with a bigger discount on the outnet, rather than I&I. It always feels a bit full price-ish.

libertychick Tue 05-Nov-13 14:47:08

I think the 80% off I&I last winter ruined it for all of us smile permanent sense of 'it will be reduced eventually'.

Decameron Tue 05-Nov-13 15:03:59

Thanks Liberty, I ordered the pink in medium too.

It's a nice sweater, Marsha, I didn't click through to see the price though.

Well done to your son, Mig.

MarshaBrady Tue 05-Nov-13 15:04:16

Exactly. That was SO good. Like the time at university when my friend and I put money in a vending machine and got the chocolate and the money back, plus change. Never felt the same using it normally after that.

MarshaBrady Tue 05-Nov-13 15:05:03

Funnily enough I'm wearing the bubblegum pink one today. £20!

Sorry if I'm boring you all about the weight loss and stuff. I just can't believe it and I'm so chuffed I can't help myself! grin

Mignonette Tue 05-Nov-13 15:07:53

Not at all One. I think you are doing magnificently.

libertychick Tue 05-Nov-13 15:09:05

grin and you still remember it Marsha!

I just saw you had pinned the Cos sweater Dec we can be Irish pink sweater twins!

MarshaBrady Tue 05-Nov-13 15:09:33

One attitude is everything when it comes to this stuff. Mind over all. So feeling chuffed and positive is great.

MarshaBrady Tue 05-Nov-13 15:09:59

Hell yeah Liberty nearly one of the best days ever

MarshaBrady Tue 05-Nov-13 15:10:12

libertychick Tue 05-Nov-13 15:10:59

Not at all boring one it's great to hear you doing so well - think of us as your cheerleaders.

Right, I need to do some work!!!!

libertychick Tue 05-Nov-13 15:12:39

but PMSL at Marsha grin

Mignonette Tue 05-Nov-13 15:38:46

This cocktail looks delish!

that sounds amazing mig I love vermouth.

QueenCadbury Tue 05-Nov-13 15:52:33

Getting free chocolate would excite me more than 80% off cashmere grin

one it's an amazing achievement. You go on about it as much as you want smile

Well done migs ds.

liberty you're right about the money and bag. I think I was just disappointed because I expected it to be amazing as I loved it online but irl it was just so ordinary. It didn't feel worth £350. I am officially a cheapskate grin.

I too am a cheapskate and proud QueenC grin

Who mentioned cocktails???!!! shock Mig looks delicious but I have to say I've become a huge fan of (*linus'*?) White lady.
Liberty love all the Cos links....funnily enough I really loved the pink sweater with patches which you've now bought I think.
Shop I'd love to grow an extra inch! maybe I should visit your man.
One have a feeling this diet and all the positivity could be life have done so well and great to hear you sound so happy. Brag away.....we don't bore easily smile
QueenC I really am with you on the bag dilemma. I have only bought two really pricey bags for me . I spent ages searching for the "do it all bag" which is nigh on impossible for me. I bought this which I've worn and worn and really adore although many people would think its a bit boring . The Nancy was a complete impulse buy , not at all practical and I hardly ever use it but I love it so much. this has also been a fantastic buy! I'm wearing it all the time now. I actually only use those 3 bags now for day time. It's all I need. but of course want loads more grin
Keep looking and you will eventually fall in love....I'm a great believer in fashion fate.

Today I'm trying to look like
this but without the swishy hair and pearls. Have chilly feet.

I've decided, I'm not going back to see that nasty, horrible, dietitian. i don't need her, I'm doing fine without her and I certainly don't need her belittling what I've done. I also don't want her taking any credit for my weight loss because the advice she gave me was shit anyway.

Agree One .....the thing with diets is it's a question of it being the right time and finding the right eating plan for you. Seems that you've found both and you're over the first hurdle. It's so encouraging to see results so quickly and these should stop you getting disheartened and encourage you to stick to it .smile

QueenCadbury Tue 05-Nov-13 16:26:46

dry as you know the radley grovesnor is my ultimate bag. If they did that in grey with silver metalwork I'd be very happy grin

Thanks Dry I feel that not going back to the dietitian is the right choice for me. It feels good to choose something for myself instead of someone else choosing for me IYSWIM?

Mignonette Tue 05-Nov-13 16:32:07

The first hurdle with changing diet and lifestyle is introducing advice without making the client feel like a piece of crap. Some HCP's cannot do this without transmitting an air of 'you're wrong, what you do is wrong'. The client goes away feeling small and even more likely to comfort eat.

You have clearly found somebody who clicks with you One and builds you up rather than knocking you down.

Yes Mig, that was exactly the problem with the dietitian I saw, she made me feel so crap and small. I was in tears all the way home because I felt so disgusted with myself and so awful. She obviously doesn't know how to , i don't know what the word is but she just doesn't seem to have any warmth or any kindness in her IYSWIM?

RubyLovesShopping Tue 05-Nov-13 18:16:27

Marsha I prefer the I&I one but agree wait for a reduction or better option.
QueenC Re the bag I think you have to really love it, also is it a birthday gift to yourself? If so needs to be memorable.
Mig if your coat turns up on the outnet will you still get it or has Vb put you off?
Justasecond I did order the grey whistles jumper last week, it's coming thurs if yours arrives let me know what you think.
I have also started a pre Christmas eating and more exercise regime, hoping to feel thinner and fitter in 6 weeks.
Meanwhile all my shopping time has been browsing Xmas stuff and presents. But I'm still reading and keeping up with the thread.

MarshaBrady Tue 05-Nov-13 19:02:14

Thanks everyone re jumpers. I agree. I will wait for something on the outnet. I would prefer to spend under £100 but with a big discount. Or likewise in the sales.

QueenC yes agree, it has to be something you really want, when you see it you'll know. Also something on sale I think is a good way to go. And yes to the choc, plus we got money back too. Free choc and extra £ = student nirvana!

LinusDKD Tue 05-Nov-13 19:25:26

mig congrats to your DS!

queenc of you don't feel in love/lust with that bag it's no use spending that amount of money.

just likewise, if you don't absolutely love that bag you should send it back and wait until you find something perfect.

shopit sounds like you had a great night. It's all too easy as parents to forget you are also part of a couple and spending time together without DC is so important.

one you sound so positive! Don't let anyone (least of all that dietician) put you down.

dry just show your DH the J Crew coat and jumper you have been lusting after.

liberty that Cos jumper is beautiful. Sadly we don't have a Cos store here because they have lovely stuff.

I have never bought anything from an H&M collaboration after being shocked at the 'quality' of their Karl Lagerfeld collaboration many years ago.

The Boden red spotty jumper arrived and I am not sure about it. It is quite thin but I just quickly threw it on yesterday so maybe I need to try it with different outfits.
