MissDD1971 Sat 05-Oct-13 18:29:20

sorry Remus that top was man made so count it out...

MissDD1971 Sat 05-Oct-13 18:33:58

This top in red - I have the blue spotty one and it looks great with skinny jeans, am wanting the red one too to go with my black skinnies

Sorry - not sure how to do a clickable link on an ipad

Grey jumper dress.

I have the navy from last year after seeing a thread about it on here and bought the grey this year. They are very warm and very flattering.

MissDD1971 Sat 05-Oct-13 18:37:07

silk shirts from Zara variety not sure which you'd prefer, more going out again

LittleMissWise Sat 05-Oct-13 18:37:26

blush I know its purple on the link, but choose grey on the options, I thought I had!

MissDD1971 Sat 05-Oct-13 18:38:52

LittleMissWise what's the sizing like on that jumper dress please? am 5 ft 4 and curvy 10-12 - I fit 8 or 10 in Whistles if that helps.

MissDD1971 Sat 05-Oct-13 18:39:35

ignore my link poxy Zara got it wrong but you can search re silk on their site.

unless you find silk to be PITA.

I have some similar from Baby Ceylon, her previous company, hang beautifully.

MissDD1971 Sat 05-Oct-13 18:45:46

oh Diamond - my BM dress was from BabyCeylon. it does hang beautifully.

MissDD1971 Sat 05-Oct-13 18:47:07

the first top there (on tops page) the fuchsia pink one is almost same as BM dress but with sleeves!

Diamondcassis Sat 05-Oct-13 18:53:50

Really pretty. Was v sad when Baby Ceylon shut down (tho did have amazing warehouse sale...), F & B are mostly different in style, maybe a bit more mainstream. But I still wear all mine, years down the line.

MissD I am a 10 in most shops (never bought anything in Whistles), have 34D boobs and a 10 fits me fine.

Here's the thread from last year incase someone else can give you some more idea

this is this years thread about it.

Thanks everyone.

I like the Uniqlo dress but we don't have Uniqlo here, and tbh their stuff is always a disaster on me irl anyway.

Shoeboots all too expensive, sorry. Should have said that I have an M&S rather than R&B budget.

Jigsaw top is lovely but too high necked and too expensive, I'm afraid.

I'll have a look in Zara.

Don't like 2nd R&B pair, even if they were cheap. Sorry.

MissDD1971 Sat 05-Oct-13 20:23:24

sorry Remus.

trying to think.... maybe asos has a nice top.

do evening tops have to be silk or can it be silk mix? trying to think if Whistles did a nice top and will look later which you could get with 25% Grazia offer.

MissDD1971 Sat 05-Oct-13 20:28:17

Remus - if you do silk check this link or type silk tops into asos. tons there!

www.asos.com/search/silk-tops?hrd=1&q=silk+tops

Eastpoint Sat 05-Oct-13 20:28:39

I didn't like the ASOS dress, I ordered it this week but I'm bigger bottomed - 32E top & size 12 lower half - it looked a bit short waisted on me & I am very short bodied. I tried the 12. Good length however, I'm 5'6".

MissDD1971 Sat 05-Oct-13 20:32:33

thanks LittleMiss too! smile

ceeveebee Sat 05-Oct-13 20:34:48

Yes, those BR ones are lovely. We haven't got BR here either though. I should have said that I can't be doing with ordering online, so need real shops. Am in Birmingham, so we have most high street stores.

MissDD1971 Sat 05-Oct-13 21:06:27

oh you're near the Bull Ring and the Mail Box?! Know it well! can't think of any stores there apart from Selfridges and Zara etc and used to shop in Coventry (when visiting my friend there).

not much use am I?!

smile

Twinklestein Sat 05-Oct-13 21:36:04

I have to say I don't like the second R&B shoes either, but I don't know your taste is so included a selection...

Revised budget suggestions:

Buffalo

Caprice

Twinklestein Sat 05-Oct-13 21:39:50

Oh Birmingham I thought maybe you were abroad! That Uniqlo grey jumper dress might be worth trying Mail Order, I've got it - it sits really well & it's really comfy.

Thanks. Like the first pair a lot but doubt I'd be able to walk in them as they are v high. Also - need a real shop.

Thanks again, Twinkle. No point trying ordering the dress online - I am awkward size/shape and ultra-fussy and I've given up on online orders unless it's something I've already tried on irl first. smile

Twinklestein Sat 05-Oct-13 21:46:19

Walking's over-rated...

grin

tethersend Sat 05-Oct-13 21:56:21

going out top or one to wear with skinnies, I don't really get tops grin

I like that, but too similar to ones I've already got tbh. I HATE shopping for tops, which is why I have a wardrobe full of skirts and jeans and nothing to wear with them. smile

tethersend Sat 05-Oct-13 22:05:14
tethersend Sat 05-Oct-13 22:06:01

Tops are a real fucker.

I don't do jeans, so always stick to blouses.

LOVE that - fear I may be too norky to get away with it though. It reminds me of being a skinny 17 year old in DMs. smile

tethersend Sat 05-Oct-13 22:15:39

I remember going out in one of my dad's not too dissimilar jumpers, tights and DMs grin

tethersend Sat 05-Oct-13 22:17:12

That was in reference to the grey dress, BTW- I like that black one.

Yes - it's nicer in black. There are a couple of black ones actually. Will investigate tomorrow.

I had giant jumpers knicked from then boyfriend, which always smelled of a mixture of fags and Lynx.

tethersend Sat 05-Oct-13 22:41:44

Yy, fags, Lynx and BOY HORMONES grin

smile

He had a ponytail though...I was utterly in love.

He was a prat...but I kept the jumpers. smile

MissDD1971 Sun 06-Oct-13 10:51:05

FauxFox - you've done well!

sometimes I go into shops and see lots of tops in un manmade fabrics and sometimes not...

I saw a trend online - lots of butterflies and florals and dark florals. when I looked too.

hollyisalovelyname Sun 06-Oct-13 13:23:18

Check out Whistles- 25% off - finishes today. Grazia code WH25AW13

Thanks Faux. I like the dark floral Oasis one out of those, but don't really suit button up blouses, due to norkage.

MissDD1971 Sun 06-Oct-13 21:01:45

Remus I feel your pain re button up blouses. would love to make them work but norks get in way!

It's such a pain. If they fit norks, they are huge across the back, shoulders, arms. And they make me look bigger than I am too.

Saw this today and it's really lovely. Would be nice with pencil skirt and blazer.

MissDD1971 Mon 07-Oct-13 09:27:52

that is nice actually, it's viscose though so does that count for you?

have FCUK prices come down recently? they used to be stupidly expensive for what they were, imo

MissDD1971 Mon 07-Oct-13 09:30:48

Remus - no help for you but Bravissimo do bigger busted blouses (horrid though, don't like Pepperberry) and M&S do some too but more work type.

I wish high street would wake up to the fact that we have norks!

I'd love to have my D cup of yesteryear (but that probably/could've been wrong as I was 32 band for years and I'm actually 28 maybe even 26) and my ability to get away with strappy cami tops - those days are long gone now as I found to my cost in Zara t'other week

MissDD1971 Mon 07-Oct-13 09:33:36

Oh Remus - if I see it again - last year Oasis did this gorgeous blouse - it was green with birds and for once (thank the gods) the bloody thing DID UP over the norks!

It was manmade but you could undo it and it still looked fine and no norkage showed. I was shock and pleasantly surprised. you could wear it evenings and daytime and with skinnies etc. almost perfect blouse... they may do similar style again.

MissDD1971 Mon 07-Oct-13 09:41:30

this is very similar to the blouse I mentioned the style.

www.oasis-stores.com/silk-frill-butterfly-blouse/tops/oasis/fcp-product/4410038568

They also have this and another one - not sure if it'd do for the norks but reviewer says it comes up large:-

lurkingaround Mon 07-Oct-13 11:38:45

Have you looked at the & other stories tops page?. I know I know I know - you don't like online. But some lovely things....

this looks nice. Looks grey (and very wearable) on my computer.

I will try the Oasis silk ones on. The prints are pretty and they are well-priced for silk.

Other Stories one is probably a bit too severely cut for my norkage, although I do rather like that 'asylum chic' sort of look. smile
