I think the collar is a bit too big, and I don't like the buttons, but I am tempted.

Bargain and functional?

MairzyDoats Wed 02-Oct-13 18:08:19

Ooh yes, I do! How is it frivolous though? Because it's white? I'd have thought the waterproof-ness (new word) would make it quite stain resistant...

toastandmarmiterocks Wed 02-Oct-13 18:11:15

why is that frivolous? It looks pretty functional to me...

VerySmallSqueak Wed 02-Oct-13 18:11:23

Colour makes it daft not frivolous (sorry!),but as a functional item,if you don't mind it a bit grubby,it's a good reduction.

LaTrucha Wed 02-Oct-13 18:12:54

Wrong bloody link. blush

That one I actually did buy.

LaTrucha Wed 02-Oct-13 18:13:59

This one.

I know everyone is going to hate it. They always do when I post on here!

MairzyDoats Wed 02-Oct-13 18:22:00

That is a very different coat from the first one! grin

I like it though! I'd have spilled something down it within 5 minutes, but if you can bear to see it soiled then go for it.

VerySmallSqueak Wed 02-Oct-13 18:25:29

When I saw the words 'glamour' and 'princess',I hardly dared look tbh.

But,it's lovely smile

Beltsandbraces Wed 02-Oct-13 18:30:44

Love it grin

LaTrucha Wed 02-Oct-13 18:36:57

Oh my goodness. I've chosen something some other people like (faints in surprise)

It's not something I would wear but I don't dislike it smile Gwan get it grin

LaTrucha Wed 02-Oct-13 19:04:21

Might just order itjust to see if that collar is really too big .....

Beltsandbraces Wed 02-Oct-13 19:06:25

Good idea wink

Rooners Wed 02-Oct-13 19:09:08

It's a bit Audrey Hepburn isn't it. I think it could be really nice.

dexter73 Wed 02-Oct-13 19:15:57

It's nice but I would change the buttons.

LaTrucha Wed 02-Oct-13 19:20:34

It should have covered buttons

LaTrucha Wed 02-Oct-13 20:37:37

Ok. Having had resounding success I am now going to ruin it. I was getting a bit worried about combining that coat with the shoes and bags I have so I started looking at other coats, I know the one I'm going to link to is very different, but it it frivolous.

What do you think?

purplewithred Wed 02-Oct-13 20:40:00

Ok if you are at 6th form college. Possibly.

no the fur one looks cheap - buy the cream one and get a gorgeous scarf to go with it

i bought three new pashminas at lunchtime for $22. Feeling v smug

Beltsandbraces Wed 02-Oct-13 20:41:56

I used to have one similar to that. Wore it until it was pretty much threadbare. Does that give you an idea to my opinion? wink

LumpySpacePrincessOhMyGlob Wed 02-Oct-13 20:42:46

Love the first one, particularly the collar. Dislike the second intensely. It gives me fur balls just looking at it.

LaTrucha Wed 02-Oct-13 20:44:52

All this is guided by my love of a black boucle swing coat i wore to death while at 6th form college. I don't wear black anymore, and I know I will live most of the winter in my oh-so-practical North Face parka, but I do fancy a pretty, fun coat. I admit, it does look cheap.

What is really getting me is the handbag...... I don't know what I would do now I think of it.

KittieCat Wed 02-Oct-13 20:49:52

I LOVE the first one. It's a beautiful, stylish coat. I so couldn't be trusted with such a light colour but I want it.

I like the buttons, too, they're make it that bit more retro.

The H&M one looks cheap and not at all stylish to me...

ICameOnTheJitney Wed 02-Oct-13 20:52:24

The 60s looking one is lovely. Collar not too's part of it's beauty.

LaTrucha Wed 02-Oct-13 20:58:47

Ok. I get the message....

jackstini Wed 02-Oct-13 20:59:14

Why would you worry about shoes and bags?
It is pretty neutral so would go with loads.

Love the 'Audrey' one (as it has now become known!)
Not keen on the fur

jackstini Wed 02-Oct-13 21:04:46

Quite like these boucle ones though...

KittieCat Wed 02-Oct-13 21:14:07

They not they're...

lentilweavinghippy Wed 02-Oct-13 21:17:02

That is all.

Oh I like the Glamour coat (but the dry clean only would be what put me off) I love the texture of it.

WRT the H&M one.............nooo but I love the stripey black and white shirt at the bottom of the page grin

(What's the deal with ISME?)

I've never bought from them BTW

Chipstick10 Wed 02-Oct-13 21:26:55

It's lovely and something that won't date IMO.

MrsLettuce Wed 02-Oct-13 21:27:32

How about this? Might just fit the bill.

tethersend Wed 02-Oct-13 21:28:08

Ha, I nearly linked to that coat on another thread, but decided against it as is wasn't very MN grin

I love it, buy it at once.

LaTrucha Wed 02-Oct-13 21:32:42

Thanks for those links. I like the shape of the black onne but I cannot wear black. I look pretty awful in it.

The colours of the other one wouldn't suit me but you have reminded me to look at ASOS, so thanks very much.

What is wrong with isme? I have a new customer code....I'll post it in a mo in case anyone else wants it.

LaTrucha Wed 02-Oct-13 21:36:48

Anyone who hasn't got an account at ISME the code 3UPVQ is £30 off a £60 spend.

This is an offer from a leaflet in McColls Newsagents if they ask where it came from.

MrsLettuce Wed 02-Oct-13 21:41:41
LaTrucha Wed 02-Oct-13 21:42:09

A couple of others I saw (before I go off and order the original one - unlessI get scared off isme is it the Vorderman angle that is awful?)

White Stuff

LaTrucha Wed 02-Oct-13 21:44:25

I like what you're linking Mrs Lettuce. I just couldn't wear it. Too pale and big norked.

KittieCat Wed 02-Oct-13 22:58:25

Walk away from the fur...

KittieCat Wed 02-Oct-13 22:59:40

The Zara one will make you look like Derek Trotter, be afraid..!

jackstini Wed 02-Oct-13 23:00:21

What colours are you thinking LaTrucha?

MairzyDoats Wed 02-Oct-13 23:32:51

The Zara one looks like a man's dressing gown.

TeaJunky Wed 02-Oct-13 23:55:09

Haaaa. I thought the Zara one looked like a velour bathrobe confusedgrin

Zara's coats are usually pretty stylish. blush

LaTrucha Thu 03-Oct-13 07:12:09

I usually wear whites, blues, greys (but don't want grey), pinks.

jackstini Thu 03-Oct-13 11:58:30
LaTrucha Thu 03-Oct-13 19:58:44

I do quite love the one with the fur collar. It might mean I would have to learn to do my hair, though and I have finally accepted that that is not going to happen!

OBface Thu 03-Oct-13 20:50:12

The Zara coat is the nicest by a country mile IMO. Not sure on the others.
