It's my birthday today, I'm 38

We're skint but DH bought me a pair of classic chestnut UGGS which I've not taken off since 7am

Considering selling one of the children so I can buy another pair

I love them. And I think they look good despite the general opinion against UGGS (disclaimer: SAHM, so what I consider to be 'looking good' usually means I've straightened my hair and have a clean top on!)

absentmindeddooooodles Tue 10-Sep-13 10:58:52

Im with you. I love my uggs despite the fact they are older than my ds smile

littlemisswise Tue 10-Sep-13 10:59:46

I do too, and my Celtic sheepskins.

squoosh Tue 10-Sep-13 11:10:48

I hate your UGGS, so there!

(but am pleased that your lovely DH bought you a present you really wanted)

HoneyDragon Tue 10-Sep-13 11:16:51

I got these on Sunday for £55, and I love them sooooooo much.

ZaraW Tue 10-Sep-13 11:27:28

They always remind me of the boots my granny wore in winter with her knee length skirts and American tan tights........

HoneyDragon Tue 10-Sep-13 11:35:35

My first heel skin boots were my grannies, I used to wear them with a fitted sheepskin coat that was my granny's too. And I looked COOL.

TiredMule Tue 10-Sep-13 11:54:18

grin Sibling-I'm glad you said that! I'm going to finally take the plunge and buy some with my birthday money! What's the sizing like? Did you size up at all? I normally wear a 7 (but I'm technically almost a 7.5)

Imwoodword Tue 10-Sep-13 11:58:07

I have 2 pairs of UGGs and love them both. I said last night to DH I'm excited for the cold weather so I can wear them blush

chanie44 Tue 10-Sep-13 12:08:32

I have the Costco shearling boots and I love mine too. I don't wear them when it's raining/wet so they have lasted.

littlemisswise Tue 10-Sep-13 12:12:52

Where did you get those boots for £55 Honey?

noisytoys Tue 10-Sep-13 12:15:15

I love my UGG Adirondack boots they are lovely and cosy, but sturdy and waterproof too I live in them from September to March smile

noisytoys Tue 10-Sep-13 12:16:48

And I have UGG gloves too they are like cuddles on your hands - can't wait for it to get cold

missmartha Tue 10-Sep-13 12:22:07

I gave Uggs a wide berth for years but last year I yielded, bought a pair, tried them on, kept them on, had to be wrestled out of them at bed time cos DH wouldn't sleep with a woman in Uggs.

I now have 4 pairs and I love them. I will have cosy toes all winter and a choice of toe warmers.

EeTraceyluv Tue 10-Sep-13 12:22:24

I love mine too - I got them from a charity shop for £15 two years ago and they are almost falling to pieces but they are sooooooo comfy.

Snowflakepie Tue 10-Sep-13 12:24:18

I love my Uggs more than any other shoes I have. Very large calves despite being a size 8 otherwise, they are the only boots that fit. Warm, comfy, and they go with all my clothes. I got mine in Oz in 2008 and they've done every winter since, still look great.

And no one notices your feet when the DC are shrieking so I don't care what anyone else thinks about me haha!

KatoPotato Tue 10-Sep-13 12:27:55

I have two pairs and I love them. I've got chestnut button baileys and a black pair with a big swarovski crystal button.

gaggiagirl Tue 10-Sep-13 12:35:18

I've had 4 pairs and worn them to death I currently have short classics in navy and in grey and I heart and soul love love love them they are worth every single penny.

BeginnerSAHM Tue 10-Sep-13 12:41:37

Does anybody have Ugg kensingtons?? If so, do you like them? Am thinking about buying a children's range pair (much cheaper and only have size 4 feet)....this wet cold weather has made me want something warm, cosy, waterproof and comfy to do the school run/football sidelines/park activities in!

LyonsDemesne Tue 10-Sep-13 12:46:18

I was a late convertor and only bought a pair when on vacation in Australia.
They are short with zebra print at the back and are gorgeous! I love love love them !

PrimalLass Tue 10-Sep-13 12:49:43

I live mine. I have classics short ones in chestnut (old, smelly), and also mini Baileys in chestnut (new).

I do have Kensingtons B-SAHM. I like them but they are an absolute nightmare to get on and off. The kids style will be much better as they have a zip. They are not waterproof though, as water gets in around the braided bit between the sole and the leather.

PrimalLass Tue 10-Sep-13 12:50:00

*love mine, or live in them

HoneyDragon Tue 10-Sep-13 12:57:00

LittleMiss I am lucky enough to live near an Ugg Outlet. I've coveted the detachable sock ones for ages as they are calf length. I phoned up this weekend to se if they had any in yet. They did and said they were £80.

At that point I dispatched dh to fetch them, when they rang them up they came up £55.00

I am very, very, very lucky grin

nipersvest Tue 10-Sep-13 13:01:05

i don't have uggs (as in that brand) but i do have emu's, in navy. they were £30 from tk maxx, but i only wear mine in the house as slippers. would not go out in them.

QueenofClean Tue 10-Sep-13 13:01:50

I love mine..I have Mocha & Grey ones....keeps my toes very toasty smile

My 8yr old DD loves her Celtic Sheepskin boots too.

I work in an office that is freezing in winter (concrete floors in converted barns) and gave in last winter and brought uggs. I still think that they are fugly but they keep my feet toasty which in turn warms the rest of me up. I go bailey buttons as I have large calves and wasn't sure tall or ones without the gap at the side would fit (im a size 12/14 but run and bike a lot so muscular calves).
I still think they are horrible but am now braving wearing them on the sidelines to watch the boys play rugby and lacrosse and dd playing hockey.

littlemisswise Tue 10-Sep-13 13:06:42

envy Honey

also whilst not traditional uggs im coveting these and may feel the need on payday!

bishboschone Tue 10-Sep-13 13:17:44

Ugg jensingtons are really really hard To get on . I wouldn't get kids as they are bound to be smaller . Also they are fat at the toe so look a bit weird IMO.. I have noiras they are much nicer .

FuckyNell Tue 10-Sep-13 13:31:57

I have the ugg Gershwin they are brilliant. Waterproof. Warm. What's not to like?

Tweet2tweet Tue 10-Sep-13 13:35:35

Don't like them but bought a pair of the knitted ones to use as slippers for £9 in House of Frasers sale a few years ago. I can like them a little bit at that price!

Meglet Tue 10-Sep-13 13:36:02

So do I. Although mine are currently Emu's I found in TK Maxx.

I suffer in the cold so have to wear big cosy boots from sept - april.

I love mine too!

i have these. 2 year old and still look new

I can also get kids Uggs so don't cost me much grin

bishboschone Tue 10-Sep-13 13:44:53

I actually have 6 pairs .. I know I'm spoilt so I gave one pair to my friends daughter and bless her she nearly wet herself . I have ugg Tatum s along with others and they are proper boots but with the comfort of uggs. My overall favourite are my Noiras , although I'm definitely tempted by these black ones linked up thread.

siblingrevelry Tue 10-Sep-13 13:49:26

Tiredmule I'm usually a true size 7, but these are 7.5. DH seemed a bit distracted last night after wrapping my pressies whilst I had a bath, and then just before I opened them this morning he said he was gutted as he only noticed last night that they'd sent size 7.5 although he'd ordered a 7, so might have to send them back. The 7.5 were snug but perfect, so I'd go with that or an 8 (not sure if they stretch with wear?)

missmartha Tue 10-Sep-13 13:52:27

I bought a pair in Oz for my mum, but I was very sniffy about them then and stupidly wouldn't have given them house room.

Oh, I regret the years I wasted.

HoneyDragon Tue 10-Sep-13 13:59:40

Can you wear the ones like the Gerswin barefoot?

MumToKandD Tue 10-Sep-13 14:03:57

I've just bought the Bearpaw Emma 12" Tall boots in Hickory, they are amazing and I got them for £35!! www.natureshop.co.uk/Product/2623/womens-sheepskin-boots/Bearpaw/Emma-Tall-Hickory

JohnSnowsTie Tue 10-Sep-13 14:05:11

Happy birthday OP flowers

I went off them for a while (though I still like my grey knitted ones) but recently am tempted by the short chocolate ones.

So expensive though and Emu don't seem to do anything similar for a few less £££.

I have Kiwis and don't know how I ever lived without them. I can't praise them highly enough.

Also have sheepskin slippers from Celtic and won't ever go back to cheapo slippers again!

JohnSnowsTie Tue 10-Sep-13 14:14:00

Bitchy which of their slippers do you have? Am thinking of a pair of CS ones myself...

bishboschone Tue 10-Sep-13 14:19:33

I think you can wear them barefoot , I wear mine with opaque tights and dresses as they are quite biker booty in the winter.

bishboschone Tue 10-Sep-13 14:20:40

bishboschone Tue 10-Sep-13 14:21:59

These are mine from last year.. My feet don't tolerate normal shoes now and I go from havianas to uggs and back again.

Flossiechops Tue 10-Sep-13 14:28:07

I love them too - currently sporting a pair of navy short ones that I bought in last years winter sale for £75 - can't grumble at that!

BeginnerSAHM Tue 10-Sep-13 14:38:27

Thanks primallass an bishbash.... Might have a re-think! Must be waterproof!

ziggiestardust Tue 10-Sep-13 14:42:43

I LOVE my Uggs. I can't get over how comfortable they are!!

PicnicPie Tue 10-Sep-13 14:52:42

I love mine too. Worth every penny when your feet are snug as a bug. I've got the camel colour ones in tall. I've had them for five years and they are in almost perfect condition as I've looked after them unlike some people

Happy birthday Op. Enjoy!

Johnsnowstie I have a pair of the boot slippers and also a pair of mules with knitted outer, not sure if they have similar this year or not. I had warm feet all last winter!

Only trouble is they have lasted really well, so I can't justify another pair angry grin

HoneyDragon Tue 10-Sep-13 15:14:50

My entire foot wear collection is as thus

Uggs (shiny new public viewing pair/ knackered slippers pair)
Converse high tops (canvas summer pair/ leather pair autumn)
Nora Wellies for long walks (one tall pair, one short)
Cheap pretty rain boots that look like proper boots for wet days
Pair of battered but long serving CAT Mardy boots for shitty snowy days
One pair of black leather pumps at the back of the wardrobe for days when I have to, under great sufferance, wear a suit.

Can you tell I like comfy feet over aesthetically pleasing ones. grin

JohnSnowsTie Tue 10-Sep-13 15:19:10

Comfy feet rule.

I have just purchased a pair of Celtic Sheepskin oatmeal mule slippers and I CAN'T WAIT.

missmartha Tue 10-Sep-13 15:39:44

Absolutely comfy feet rule.

On a rare rainy Sunday this summer I bought a pair of ankle wellies to keep my feet nice and dry and not look too big and clumpy with my summer stuff.
They are fantastic. Bloody love them.

Too cold for winter, great for summer wet grass and puddles though.

FayeKorgasm Tue 10-Sep-13 15:43:35

I have had uggs and now Celtic sheepskin house boots. I don't wear them out, but wear them all the time indoors!

I love my Celtic boots and they are machine washable!

bishboschone Tue 10-Sep-13 15:57:57

My noiras are waterproof , I'm guessing the Tatum are as they are leather .

foxysocks Tue 10-Sep-13 16:14:32

I love them too, and couldn't care less if others don't. I do yoga early morning then have to go straight into children's breakfast/school runs, it's baaaad to loose heat too quickly so from sept-march I am in uggs or equiv for the early morning dropoffs.

I have the brown zip up ones and short black/charcoal version from australia luxe, love them both. I would love some grey ones this year but not sure i can afford them sadly.

RaisingArizona Tue 10-Sep-13 17:47:10

I've had my classic chestnut ones for over 10 years. The sheepskin lining has worn out in places but I bought sheepskin insoles and they're fine. They're still very wearable outdoors though I've always found the soles slippery on wet pavements.

IsaacCox Tue 10-Sep-13 17:51:26

I love them too. I've had a pair of bailey button uggs for a few years and have worn them to death, so now they are my slippers. Nicest and comfiest slippers around grin

HotCrossBunsForAll Tue 10-Sep-13 20:58:39

I have 4 pairs, chestnut, chocolate and black tall original, and chocolate bailey buttons. I love the bailey buttons the most but have worn all of them to death. I am currently eyeing up a pair of navy baileys....

I have 3 pairs of Ugg boots, 2 bailey button and one Roslynn - and one pair of Tasmina flip flops.
DH also has the mens version of the flip flops and the leather 'man boots'
I love them and I don't care!

Cherrypie32 Tue 10-Sep-13 23:09:33

Any codes for Celtic sheepskin at the moment anyone?

Stephjs2013 Wed 11-Sep-13 18:29:15

I'm a kiwi living in the UK and I remember buying Ugg boots about 30 years ago in NZ in my teens, and they were super comfortable, warm and lasted forever. Ugg was a generic name, not a label. Sorry, but I can't believe the pricetag slapped on them here just because a company has trademarked the name as theirs.

chocolatemartini Wed 11-Sep-13 18:36:04

Aaaah don't remind me how lovely my uggs are. Now I want to wear them to work tomorrow.

I love mine too. Currently have 2 pairs of Kensingtons in black and brown. Footwear perfection with a sole that grips. grin

SundaySimmons Wed 11-Sep-13 19:08:54

I buy a pair of uggs every year. Usually HUKD have a deal and I buy a pair then.

My daughter used to wear them but no so much now.

I wash them and they come up fab. They are great for the beach all year round but more so on a cold, dry day.

I love them, can't fault them.

ExcuseTypos Wed 11-Sep-13 20:30:14

I love my Kensington UGGS and I don't care if others don't like them.

I'm just rather smugg in my uggs cos my feet are toasty warm.smile

Cessj Thu 12-Sep-13 14:31:21

"Considering selling one of the children so I can buy another pair"
Am I the only one who did a double take at this? It took me a few moments to work out that you weren't considering selling one of you children!

nickdrakeslovechild Thu 12-Sep-13 16:43:33

Yes Beginner I have some kensingtons, I debated them for ages and they are my favourite boots ever, they have done 3 winters now and still look as good as new. They are not waterproof, but when its cold my feet are so cozy.

carrie74 Thu 12-Sep-13 16:57:58

I want something similar just to wear around the house. Last year bought some M&S slipper boots in same style, and they were ok, but the inners got flattened really quickly. Thinking of trying the Bearpaws ones in TK Maxx, anyone know if they're any good? It seems a bit ridiculous paying any more for the real thing when they won't set foot outside (except to take out the bins grin).

Jellybellyrbest Thu 12-Sep-13 22:39:21

Happy Birthday OP! I too am 38 & bought my second pair of Uggs last week. Am soooo happy. My BIL went to US for work & brought a pair back for DSis & myself. So my Chestnut Baileys cost me £105 instead of £165. Wore my last pair till they fell apart after 3 years...they have almost got holes in the toes! They are now my slippers. I'm determined to make my new ones last though; can I ask how you all protect yours against the elements?

marthamydear Fri 13-Sep-13 23:18:45

It's worth going for uggs (ugly bugly boots) as DH and I call them.

They are so comfy and warm. I have two pairs. Tall sandy colour I was given for Christmas 10 years ago - still look new and Kensington Black that I bought 3 years ago. They are my main winter boots.

The Kensingtons are very heavy on your foot though - but much studier - even if my DH calls them 'Father Christmas' boots - he has a point, they do look like boot's that Santa wears smile

The tall ones are suede and very very light. So cosy.

They are mum boots though! smile

Get them, once you do - you kind of sacrifice style over warmth xx
