Nice frock Liberty

I'm sat watching an old Queen concert on tv... dh is a fan.

shopafrolic Fri 19-Jul-13 22:56:34

Anyone who knows me on FB check out pics of DS doing yoga in the garden with my brother this evening. Hilarious!

l am considering this dress

I'm a bit put off because it's polyester though even though I love ths hape of it

shopafrolic Fri 19-Jul-13 23:07:28

Lovely shape One but polyester is an absolute no no for me.

Topazandpearl Fri 19-Jul-13 23:09:15

Delurking to say I have two pairs of Fitflops, and, in this weather, I could hardly bear to wear anyhing else! (if Amber has five pairs, I feel I can dare to confess.....)
I have been keeping up but have been very busy with work. I have a Winser order on its way, will link anything I decide to keep.

that's what's putting me off shop If it was jersey or something, it would be much better loo that looks like something from " one flew over the cookoos nest" black cubicles, padded walls...oppressive!
So far;
Sex on the beach....ok
Mojito...yuck, but drank it
Something I can't remember name of....ok ish
Am trying to get White Lady but not managing yet....vavavroom heels still holding up............
Oh yes....I LOVE yoooooooall loo that looks like something from " one flew over the cookoos nest" black cubicles, padded walls...oppressive!

santamarianovella Fri 19-Jul-13 23:26:49

no fitflops here but i do own uggs!

very nice dress liberty.

one i really like it,but what shop said!

now that we got amber ,lets try to lure hopefully grin

mig hope everything is ok,we reallllllly miss you!

libertychick Fri 19-Jul-13 23:37:53

grin at Dry - we are planning on serving some mojitos on Sunday - love them.

one that dress is v nice - normally I try to avoid poly but it's not expensive - do you want it for a particular occasion?

LeFreakCestChic Fri 19-Jul-13 23:38:54

Hello all. quick delurk to ask whaddaya think of this. Clearly trying it on in 28 sweaty degrees is bonkers but I'm torn between the navy and charcoal. Like the idea of classic navy and I really must break out of my grey rut. How versatile is navy? It feels lovely on, and bargainous to boot.

shopafrolic Fri 19-Jul-13 23:39:01

Oh and while we're at it then, come back Frugal.
Love a drunk post in duplicate Dry. Have fun - we'll whisper tomorrow!

libertychick Fri 19-Jul-13 23:43:19

Topaz welcome back - I had wondered a few times where you had gone!

LeFreak I love that jumper - alpaca and silk sounds lush. I think navy is very versatile <tempted, sits on hands>

libertychick Fri 19-Jul-13 23:56:37
santamarianovella Fri 19-Jul-13 23:56:50

Oh yes, frugal and franca too!,lets this be a reunion thread!

barbie did you move yet?

lefreak i like it,i think navy is very versatile,

Hi everyone, I have been enjoying the sunshine too, added to which, DH is away this week (riding his bike up and down Alps, the nutter), boys are off school and I am trying to get my 'to do' list of stuff cleared before the end of next week when we go away. Hence my relative absence, though I have been trying to keep up with you all smile

Re shopping, I ordered two bikinis yesterday, also visited Anna but once I got into the changing room I just couldn't face trying stuff on, too hot and sticky shock. So bought nothing grin

Sorry about uni One, how is BIL doing?

Shop did I say that hairstyle would look fab on you? And I love the sandals. House is sort of still tidy smile. The listing for our house is now on the website and the photos look great so I'm really pleased.

Sounds like you are having a great night Dry! envy

Nice jumper definitely versatile smile

Amber how's the hand?

LinusDKD Sat 20-Jul-13 06:08:26

Morning! Found you!

Our trip went ok and we arrived only 1 h later than planned. DD still asleep but DS up at 6 as usual even though he only fell asleep at 22h in the car hmm

Will try to catch up later but I'm hoping DPIL will offer to watch DC for a couple of hours so I can go shopping in Antwerp. Probably not for clothes but for lighting and maybe some more furniture. There are some lovely antique shops as well, and I love a good browse.

dry <whispers> how's the head this morning?

noviceoftheday Sat 20-Jul-13 07:24:00

Morning all! After 2 months of bliss with ds finally sleeping through he's started waking up constantly in the middle of the night again. sad he's done it 4 nights in a row, dh and I back to be being knackered again. sad then he looks so adorable in the morning that I don't want to throttle the little monkey! Oh and he's started that at the same time as dd has decided that she wants to try being nappy free at night. Cue a visit every night of "mummy I have wet myself". sigh!

Anyway it's lovely to see the returners, Amber, Topaz and Le Freak <waves>. I have to confess to not knowing what fit-flops were, have just had to google them and say "ohhhh those".smile

Sleep, are you moving or renting out?

I love the cable jumper (I have similar in cream) but years old and its a staple, always survives the annual declutter. Not so much a fan of the French Connection dress but not because its polyester (I have to admit to not being as bothered as others about that) but because it probably would drown me, and I love that zebra print dress.

Another grin for Dry and a whisper....if you didn't like the mojito they can't have made it for you properly!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Sat 20-Jul-13 08:26:31

Morning all. Absolutely knackered as I popped out to meet friends for a drink in village pub at 8pm yesterday and got home at about 12.15. Checked messages because our bookkeeper had not yet sent me net figures for staff wages and they're supposed to be paid today! Still not had them, so cue worrisome, wakeful night panicking about it. Bit early to text her now, so just biding my time until I can. I hate being responsible for business money matters - can't handle the stress. Linus and Novice we should have convened earlier seeing as how we're all sleep deprived.
Enjoyed Dry's 'love you all' late night loo-post!

Head a little tender but not too bad.....yet. May venture to the gym later.

Grumpy so glad you got the dress!
Amber glad you're back and hand is better.

MarshaBrady Sat 20-Jul-13 09:23:00

Ah what a lovely edition! Lots of people coming back. Yes to Frugal making an honorary guest post smile.

Dry fab late night post.

Back later to catch up properly.

MrsRadicchio Sat 20-Jul-13 09:52:30

Welcome back Topaz LeFreak and Amber

Love that zebra dress Liberty - you are good at finding dresses! Hope you find the one you have your eye on in FC and have a great bbq.

One I am also not keen on polyester - in this heat! But it is a lovely dress, a bit halston style.

Like the cable knit LeFreak agree navy is very chic.

Dry I am surprised about the mojito, love them!

So after being quite frugal with the sales, I have just gone mad and bought loads of shoes! I will link but probably will be sending some back (all bought over the internet)

Boden will only keep if they are really lovely as I have a lot of sandals and don't get to wear them much

Nike love love these!

grenson bargain

espadrill boot

Happy weekends to all!

QueenCadbury Sat 20-Jul-13 12:55:16

Afternoon ladies. I've just had a quick catch up before having a nap (late boozy night) but will look at all the links properly later/tomorrow. Off to a boozy BBQ later. I'm so glad that it's cooled down a bit.

Quick question-does anyone have a tankini? Thinking of getting one for holiday as I'm not sure about wearing a bikini in Cornwall. I've seen some lovely ones in my cup size (30f) but worried that it'll be too tight over my tummy. Also, when swimming do the tops stay down or ride up?

QC they do ride up when swimming but I figure no one will be checking out my tummy under the water. If you're worried about your tummy I'd steer clear because it can escape in the gap and that's not a good look.

QueenCadbury Sat 20-Jul-13 14:42:11

Hmm, hadn't thought of that dry, good point. Maybe i'll just get a nice swimming costume as at the moment I just have a black racer style one.

LeFreakCestChic Sat 20-Jul-13 15:39:32

Thanks for all your replies: I kept the navy one. Can't believe the discounts at me & em, got this too. But it's still quite fitted despite being a 14-16 hmm and so I'll need to drop a couple of stone pounds.
Also ordered these last night and delivered this morning- fab asos. V comfy and think I might even get away with wearing them at work. First time I've really done the whole printed trouser thing.
V excited- v v rare night without DC2 and 3: am buying posh gin on the way home from dropping them off with GPS. Oh how to spend the time....?

Pampering yourself LeFreak !

shopafrolic Sat 20-Jul-13 15:47:10

Gorgeous dress LeFreak and the trousers are fab too. Have a lovely evening whatever you decide.
I have 3 sweaty men here dismantling the sleigh bed and taking it away - money in my pocket! <must spend it on DS' bedroom and not on clothes>

Topazandpearl Sat 20-Jul-13 16:02:12

I ordered that dress too LeFreak and agree that it is a great bargain. I also like your jumper. Me & Em are one of my discoveries this year, thanks to this thread.
My Winser order arrived and I am keeping this dress, trousers andtop. The dress and top were in the sale, but not the trousers. Now, I must rein it in for a bit!
I hope everyone is enjoying their (slightly) cooler Saturday.

LeFreakCestChic Sat 20-Jul-13 20:07:48

Hi topaz yes, me & em is lovely but only affordable in the sale! And yes to discovering it on this thread too. I also bought 2 of the layering tops at £10 each, silly not too. Will you wear your ruched dress to work? i know lots of people do but am unsure as its quite clingy.
I haven't heard of Winser but these clothes look lovely.

In child free house watching does my voice look famous in this or some such push, I fear it's even too low brow for me and my standards are looow...

noviceoftheday Sat 20-Jul-13 20:28:44

That ruche dress is ruddy gorgeous!!envy

LeFreakCestChic Sat 20-Jul-13 20:50:50

Pish, not push.

novice, yes, I fear it is. Buy it! Everyone seems to rave about me & em dresses and I bought the cap sleeved ruched one too: Feel slightly fraudulent in them for work and will see how they work out for weekend wear too.

Hi all, love the zebra dress Liberty smile

Apologies, it's a DM link, but I love this dress. Anyone have any idea where it's from?

QueenC a bikini in Cornwall will be perfectly fine but I'd definitely choose a stylish one piece rather than a tankini not sure I've ever seen one look good.

Novice I forgot to ask which kind of DH came home after his drinks the other night wink? Re the house, we are mking it available to rent whenever we are on holiday. Not so much for the cash, though that is great, but for security of having the place occupied after the break in at Easter.

noviceoftheday Sat 20-Jul-13 21:36:26

Hi Sleep. Oh yes, I forgot about the break in. poor you. sad Wednesday was the Ivy night, as I was drunk and passed out fell asleep when I got home, so Thursday night brought home an amorous dh fuelled with booze and memories of the orange dress and those boots.wink boy he loves those boots! Yesterday, I was wearing warehouse cut off denim shorts (practically cut off circulation too!) and a H&M short sleeved check shirt. Really nothing special but apparently I looked hot in those too hmm wink. My theory is that i think it's the heat! Today the weather is cooler and his ardour has definitely

LeFreak, unfortunately, lots of others must agree with us as that dress is sold out in the small. Such a great pity, great price.envy

Topazandpearl Sat 20-Jul-13 21:51:23

I have a capped sleeve Me&Em dress as well LeFreak, also bought in a sale. I've worn it to work, sometimes with a cropped jacket, sometimes with a long line belted cardigan. It gets lots of compliments! I expect to wear the grey one in the same way. I am slowly building up a wardrobe of better quality clothes, mainly bought in sales, and it does mean I am usually happy with what I'm wearing. MNV has been a great help to me, so thank you all thanks.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Sat 20-Jul-13 22:26:36

That is a lovely dress sleep - unfortunately I don't know where it might be from, but as Abbey Crouch is wearing it, I'm guessing v high end and mucho ££££.

Did you clock the luscious Christy Turlington on the Calvin klein ad on the side bay of that link? Still looks scorchio at 44, but then she's always been a classic beauty. envy

QueenCadbury Sat 20-Jul-13 22:33:25

amber I NEED a huge favour please. If you're ever near an uniqlo please could you see if they have this cardigan and whether it's a good match for the emerald swatch in our wallet. No worries if not as I may just order it or wait till I'm in London. I've wanted an emerald carigan for what feels like forever ( since April!). Thank you!

QueenCadbury Sat 20-Jul-13 22:36:22

Hello everyone else! Just been doing a quick bit if browsing but off to bed now.

sleep that dress is lovely. Is she up north? If so it could be from cricket (or is that where Coleen shops?)

I may have committed a huge crime against fashion because I've just ordered a pink and blue flowered pinafore dress..... this one to be exact dress

Will I ever be forgiven for this most awful of crimes? grin

santamarianovella Sat 20-Jul-13 23:28:56

queen dont buy a tankini! they are hideous! a one piece is much better!

sleep ive been dying to find out about abby dress,

mrsR i really love the boden sandals, never thought i would love anything by them, but the sandals are really gorgeous.

linus glad the trip went ok,and hope you have/had fun in Antwerp.

grumpy christy is a real beauty , i read that she fallows a very strict diet, juice cleanses and lots of yoga,i think out of all the 90s supermodels she aged the best.

Hmm...not on cricket, flannels or Harvey Nic websites....*Shop*, you twitter, is Abbey on there do you know?

QueenCadbury Sun 21-Jul-13 06:33:57

Morning. Anyone else up? Just caught up on links...

one that poly dress is lovely but would be sweaty in ths weather and you wouldn't be able to wear tights with it in winter as they would stick.

mrsr nice shoes, I especially love the boden sandals

liberty did French connection have your dress?

QueenCadbury Sun 21-Jul-13 06:36:37

sleep the comments on DM website are saying that the dress is from h&m. Can't find it online though.

QueenCadbury Sun 21-Jul-13 06:40:16

I really want to try this jumpsuit on.

QueenCadbury Sun 21-Jul-13 06:49:05

Can someone buy this bag. There's 20 % off today but even so I just can't justify another bag right now.

QueenCadbury Sun 21-Jul-13 07:22:55

Are you all still asleep envy

Hi Queen, we have one in our town, so I will pop in with my wallet at some point in the next few days. What size would you need?

MarshaBrady Sun 21-Jul-13 07:51:36

QueenC I love that DvF jumpsuit very much.

Everyone still asleep I just woke up, the dc are more difficult at night and stay up late. Am glad it's the holidays. They can just sleep.

QueenCadbury Sun 21-Jul-13 08:00:28

I'm liking this bag too

QueenCadbury Sun 21-Jul-13 08:02:27

amber no idea, I'm guessing an xs or small. Let me know what's best for an 8/10. If I know it's the correct colour then I'll order online. Thank you.

McNally Sun 21-Jul-13 08:22:16

That DvF jumpsuit is absolutely lovely QueenC.

shopafrolic Sun 21-Jul-13 08:26:44

Morning all. I converted DS' cot into a bed last night. He fell out 5 times. I am dead - that is all......

Gorgeous jumpsuit QueenC! Am hmm that Abbey's dress is h&m, that pretty much guarantees I won't be able to get hold of it as it will sell out everywhere! So much for it being £££ grin, see, you can never tell!

I am mn'etting from bed with a cup of tea <smug>. DH got back from his cycling trip last night. A text message woke me up. I had to go down and make my own brew though so don't be too envy.

I'm up QueenC (in bed with papers!)... Love both the bag and the jump suit.
I'm feeling a huge need for a coloured sleeveless shift dress in natural fibres. I loved my black one that I've worn to death but a bit sick of black. Not much around now........
I think the Abby dress is lovely too

shopafrolic Sun 21-Jul-13 08:33:48

Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday gorgeous fashionista Marsha! Happy Birthday to you! Big love lady - have a fabulous day xxxxxxxxx flowers wine <still need a champagne glass MN towers!>

sleep room service here was not up to standard either.....had to get my one tea and the paper .

Something weird is happening to me..........I'm also fancying some white stilletoes !!!grin

MarshaBrady Sun 21-Jul-13 08:36:00

Aw Shop grin that made me laugh thanks grin. love it.

Oh no on bed! Try a rolled hand towel tucked under sheet at the edge.

I'm in bed too with espresso, mnetting because it's my birthday and it's the law. grin

MarshaBrady Sun 21-Jul-13 08:37:16

Dry I stil love the idea of white stilettos. For summer.

noviceoftheday Sun 21-Jul-13 08:39:33

Ooh happy birthday Marsha! Plenty of brew and wine today I hope! Have a fab day thanksthanksthanks and xxx

these are lonely
these would look fab with white skinnies. Done in red,coral,silver,gold,black....want every colour!

Happy birthday Marsha

Shame they're plastic

noviceoftheday Sun 21-Jul-13 09:02:24

Dry, I bet those shoes would hurt! By the way have I had my Russell & Bromley moan to you? Those quilted ballerina pumps didn't last more than 8 months. I was livid!

QueenCadbury Sun 21-Jul-13 09:12:09

Happy birthday marsha.

novice no way, that's awful. I've got plastic ballet flats from sainsburys that have lasted longer.

Love the sandals dry but can't quite get my head round white stilettos.

Oh that's a shame....mine are going strong and really comfy but I've had them less time than you. What went on them?

noviceoftheday Sun 21-Jul-13 09:46:12

I seemed to wear them out at the back so a big hole appeared on the seam joining the top of the shoe to the sole. I took them to my shoe guy and he said for the first time ever that he couldn't save them.shock

That was why I got the kurt Geiger in the sale. Having paid £99 for the RB I was so mad. The other pair I bought at the same time have kept but that's because I rarely wear them. The quilted ones were what I was wearing to and from the train station and also at the weekend so they got worn a lot. Having slated LkB for those infernal boots its annoying to have had 2 v expensive one season wonders.

Yes that's bad novice.......

Turquoiseblue Sun 21-Jul-13 10:04:34

Morning QueenC, smile I m awake and delurking again.
Just caught up on links too with a coffee and brioche in hand. <and she wonders why she will not fit into her jeans>
Love that jumpsuit, I m terrible with trends - I tend to dislike them at the start, then they grow on me, then I buy, but by the time I buy the trend is almost passing! Im really not adventurous enough with my clothes and tend to stay in my own style a lot. I shouldn't mull so much. I d love to pull off a jumpsuit or play suit.
I have had a fashion quandary for a long time - i swim a lot often en route to from work, so need a bag that I can carry swim gear in. However vanity prevents me from using any old backpack/gym gear bag.
tossing up between these nice but the opening s a bit small maybe
-not sure about shape
and this
Atterly road sale haul was a bit disappointing I ve been looking at this dress for a time as loved the colours and nonchalant style - nearly ordered it but decided to hold out for the sale here. Still love the print and style but the material - 50/50 VISCOSE /silk. I should have checked before I ordered. Mightily glad I didnt get it full price. Am torn - it fits fine - will possibly a bit loose around the middle/hips but it does look great, I like the reflection in the mirror when I have it on, but i imagined it to be silkier and it feels rough and viscos-y! and also so very light not see through but so darn, well papery...(I m selling it now arent I) - I had had an idea of bringing it into next season with a different belt and tights when the new sheen had worn off it. Not sure I can live with it. But I still love the look and colour and print... What would MNV do?
had also ordered shirt and skirt again the skirt doesnt feel like I d imagined it to and is lighter but I do like the overall look and both will be worn lots.
Who linked the me and em grecian dress? Bargainous! Love the teal colour.
Hope all the weekend entertaining goes well and happy birthday Liberty.
Novice - your bling and shoes..... I m envy
Who mentioned tankini ?? nooooo are they are swimwear s equivalent to white linen trousers?
Spotted this probably not for catching a tan in though!
Did I read right on the last vol? - Amber, fit flops, 5 pairs..... ? Have to admit I have considered them - I do lots of walking ... I have a fear though - I don't quite have the effortless cool that Amber has and reckon I couldn't pull it off, I fear if I did go there it would be a slippery slope !

Turquoiseblue Sun 21-Jul-13 10:13:17

ohh happy birthday marsha too!

dry - white stilettos...saw them on a friend last week and they looked surprisingly good smile

I forgot you're a similar size to me QueenC, will try on and let you know. Knitwear tends to be snug there.

All the fitflop naysayers have clearly never worn a pair! I have arthritic knees and ankles and they are the best things for them, so I feel no shame. I wouldn't wear them on a night out, or to work, but for everyday park roaming with the kids they are fine.

MarshaBrady Sun 21-Jul-13 10:37:13

Thanks so much thanks. You're all lovely.

Birthday lunch with family today, repeat sans dc during the week and present is yet to be found dress.

Turquoise I say keep if not too irritating It's very pretty.

LeFreak love the Me&Em.

Topaz lovely stuff.

Sleep photos sound great. No idea on dress!

Novice outfits sound fab, as usual!

One piece swimwear can look fabulous, tankinis never really look right.

LinusDKD Sun 21-Jul-13 10:39:13

Just quickly wishing marsha a happy birthday!

Will try and catch up tonight, so much has been posted already!

LeFreakCestChic Sun 21-Jul-13 11:09:06

shop, DS2 co sleeps with me ( i know, i know) and he's fallen out twice- thats a thud and a half terrible mother. I'm moving him to a cot bed in his own room soon: CBA with the nighttime thuds then, might have to leave him on the floor really terrible mother.
amber another loud n' proud fit flop wearer here when I do occasionally embrace my not so inner waynetta slob.
Thanks for all the me & em love people. Getting the haul as been very exciting. I'll need to experiment a la topaz, hopefully and amber on how to wear the dresses. Eek, that sounds a bit pathetic!! blush
Happy birthday Marsha

happy birthday marsha wine thanks thanks

Topazandpearl Sun 21-Jul-13 12:23:18

Happy birthday Marsha and Liberty! I have decided to send the Winser trousers back. Having tried them on again today, they are a bit too big on the waist and gape at the back. There are no belt loops so can't wear a belt with them . It's a shame as they are a really nice quality, but if this thread has taught me anything, it is that it is only worth spending money if something is completely right. (*Turquoise*, I'd send back the dress if the fabric is always going to annoy you). Enjoy your Sunday, everyone.

shopafrolic Sun 21-Jul-13 12:28:33

I love that Liberty and Marsha share a birthday - they should rename it MNV day! Happy birthday Liberty hope you're having a fun time and have been spoilt rotten!

QueenCadbury Sun 21-Jul-13 13:01:01

turquoise I would send it back as it's not perfect and for £90 it needs to be. You will find something you like better. Your links to sweaty Betty do not work for me and only take me to the home page.

QueenCadbury Sun 21-Jul-13 13:02:59

Oh also * turquoise* I've never tried on a jumpsuit before so it could be disastrous but I'm thinking with some lush shoes/sandals and fab jewels it would be a great alternative a a dress for my 40th.

Decameron Sun 21-Jul-13 13:25:55

Happy birthday, Liberty and Marsha!

LeFreak, I love Me & Em too, most of my wardrobe is from there at the moment.

Topaz, I like the Winser clothes, haven't heard of them before.

Bummer about the R&B ballet shoes, Novice. I'm sure they'll exchange them no problem. Mine have lasted 2-3 years, I have various colours. Thinking of buying silver now.

Totally agree about the fitflops, Amber.

Love those bags and jumpsuit, Queen.

Sorry about the uni place, One.

Did a little bit of shopping this morning and ordered this top, leggings and grey jeans.

QueenCadbury Sun 21-Jul-13 14:48:42

Love the grey jeans dec. I'd love some grey jeans but need to wait for gap to do a non skinny version (too lazy to try other makes).

I've just bought a vest (yeah, yeah, I said no more purchases...) but it's
iced lavendar and I've struggled with finding iced colours (there's a fine line between ice and pastel) so I had to buy it. Also managed to get dd1 some bargainous tees in the gap sale. And I only popped to the mall to get gift vouchers for the teachers!

Turquoise I'm a lot like you about some I've purchased some Top Shop Baxters in white, at bloody transition into skinny jeans is complete!grin

<whispers while in town I tried on the RIsland white stilleto sandals, they looked amazing but the plastic put me the style though,so flattering>

Have bought this coat as a cheap cover up, didn't want to spend a lot while I am still changing shape but it should see me through autumn at least

Annianni Sun 21-Jul-13 17:39:49

thanks Marsha, hope you've had a nice birthday.

LinusDKD Sun 21-Jul-13 18:02:40

I have just had a quick read but haven't had time to look at the links. How come I have less time to read and post on MNV on holiday than at home?!

It was pretty hot here today so I wore my Asos cobalt pencil skirt, white Zara tee (knotted as it's superlong), cobalt Gigis, a Stella and Dot layering necklace and my Tiffany Elsa Pretti wave bracelet.

Sorry Liberty I forgot to wish you a happy birthday!

Right, I had a look at the cardi QueenC and it's more of a blue toned green than the HoC emerald - I'd say it's closer to pine. However I have a jumper from Uniqlo in that colour and it does work really well on me, but I am quite a swarthy winter. Size wise I would wear the S open and possibly the medium if I wanted to do it up over my boobs (which I wouldn't, ever, as I'd look like a librarian). Hope this is useful info!

QueenCadbury Sun 21-Jul-13 20:17:40

thanks amber. I've got a cardigan similar to pine green already and i really want a true emerald. Hopefully something else will turn up somewhere. That's very useful on the sizing though so at least I know in future to go for a small. I also would never button up a cardi-like you I would have to go up a size to stretch over my boobs!

dry I really like those block heeled ones.

shopafrolic Sun 21-Jul-13 21:19:17

Took DS for a run round the park as he was doing my tiny knackered head in. DH treated us to dinner out. Lovely impromptu family time. Was wearing Me&em maxi - it really is a winner - especially for post pasta tummy.
Hope the birthday girls are worn out and happy!

LeFreakCestChic Sun 21-Jul-13 21:39:35

It's all the about the me&em today! decam love the top and the leggings... But £££ for leggings?! Gulp. Let us know what they're like.

waiting on these to arrive tomorrow

Decameron Sun 21-Jul-13 22:14:58

Lovely trousers, LeFreak, I like the sandals shown with it too.

I have the legging in navy, they are trousers really. Flattering on and nice and long, I'm tall. They are selling out so couldn't wait any longer!

Have just ordered this think it wil be useful in this weather and I'll wear it a lot ........100% cotton shock

very nice dry I've been looking for something like that myself but that's really not the right shape for me

The blue one

santamarianovella Sun 21-Jul-13 23:36:41

happy birthday marsha and liberty

lots of lovely me and em links!

dry i love it! i like the red one

linus i want to hear about your shopping in Antwerp .

we have not heard of foxy in a while now, hope everything is ok.

MrsRadicchio Mon 22-Jul-13 07:45:19

Hello all! Looks like storms here today - hope so actually, as it is so humid! Think I will give the white jeans another outing today.

Happy birthday to Marsha and Liberty - hope you had a great time! How was the BBQ Liberty and what did you wear?

Shop how was DS in his big bed last night?

QueenC I think a jumpsuit is a fab alternative to a dress for your 40th, I think they look so chic but in a kind of relaxed way. Will solve the tights dilemma too!

Turquoise I agree with the others to send the dress back, the fabric mix would annoy me. Plus in your desription of it, it did not sound like you thought it was that great! Shame, as it looks lovely on the website. I read the blurb "silk rich", bit cheeky?

LeFreak how old is DS2? I also have DS2 in bed with me, he is so sweet and snuggly though I think it will soon be time to move him on as he moves around loads and ends up kicking DH and I hmm

Dry good dress purchase. Never heard of the brand but they have some nice stuff.

Where's the sun? sad

marsha do you have insider news on August weather yet? I need hope.

noviceoftheday Mon 22-Jul-13 08:29:13

It's v sunny here! It's meant to be 33 todayshock (I would hate to be pregnant or in labour!).

Great day planned today. taking the dcs swimming then for food then to the park. then off to work. i am having dinner at the Shard tonight and no idea yet what I am wearing!

MrsRadicchio Mon 22-Jul-13 08:37:38

Meant to add, happy holidays to Novice!

MrsRadicchio Mon 22-Jul-13 08:39:05

Whoops, I meant linus blush

noviceoftheday Mon 22-Jul-13 08:42:01

MrsRgrin that had me puzzled!!

shopafrolic Mon 22-Jul-13 08:49:25

Morning all
Novice how do you stay so tiny with all these fab meals out?
A better night's sleep thanks MrsR - Marsha tipped me off to rolling a towel up under his fitted sheet and that seems to be working - he stayed in bed all night - phew!
Warm and sunny again here already - taking DS to a friend's house to meet lots of other mum's and kids for a picnic. Then chores later.

shopafrolic Mon 22-Jul-13 08:59:12

Poor old Kate Middy giving birth today!

MarshaBrady Mon 22-Jul-13 09:08:42

So glad it worked Shop. I got the tip off from some where else I thought of course how simple when we used it.

Who's the weather champ? Was it Sleep or Liberty or MrsR. Or perhaps I've totally forgotten. I really hope this weather sticks I love it. Will be drab to go back to a more typical summer. Stay weather!

Thanks so much for birthday wishes, it was a lovely day with great weather, looking forward to lunch part two no dc. My family redeemed themselves by calling again (they rang on Saturday and I thought they'd forgotten!).

Liberty what a great date to have a birthday grin hope you had a fabulous day.

shopafrolic Mon 22-Jul-13 09:20:21

Good news about the phone call Marsha - what will you wear for your lunch?
I'm in GAP boyfriend shorts, cream M&S tee, neon cord belt and Havs today - for crawling around with the kids!

MarshaBrady Mon 22-Jul-13 09:32:33

Shop lunch will be in a couple of days when all dc away. Not sure yet!

Foxy hope all is ok.

QueenCadbury Mon 22-Jul-13 09:58:02

novice I'm envy. I'd love to go there just for the view. There are definately things I miss about living in London.

It's warm and sunny here. I'm a sweaty mess after school and nursery drop off! Shower and then sainsburys. Oh, the glamour.

dry nice dress.

I think it's liberty who gets the long term weather as part of her job. It'll be Sod's law if this weather breaks come Wednesday when the dc finish school.

I assume no-one has heard from mig? I emailed her and no reply. Hope she's ok.

I'm strangely excited by the royal baby coming...

Turquoiseblue Mon 22-Jul-13 10:00:45

Dress is winging it s way back to atterly road :-( , but to console myself I nabbed some lovely denim in doña Ida

foxysocks Mon 22-Jul-13 11:18:02

hello. thanks so much for well wishes re: work and checking up on me - am fine just v busy, and I suspect a lurker IRL. lots of bits posted on here/pin keep cropping up on same person, am a bit freaked out by it!

Decameron Mon 22-Jul-13 13:02:25

Freaky, Foxy!

My jeans are out of stock, grrr.

Foxy I'm rubbish at social media.....keep forgetting about lurkers and I give out too much info. I read a thread that said there are some people on MN who keep spread sheets on posters to see if what they say tallies up. Apart from that being a bit sad, it's a bit stalkerish and freaked me out completely!

QueenCadbury Mon 22-Jul-13 14:11:06

No way dry do people really do that shock. Why?? Rest assured that I'm not keeping any spreadsheets on any of you. Besides not having the knowledge to do so, I have absolutely no inclination to grin

santamarianovella Mon 22-Jul-13 14:19:21

OMG! dry thats sad and stalkerish at the same time!

foxy thats really freaky!,

mignonette Mon 22-Jul-13 14:40:08

Hi everyone..and happy birthday Marsha and Liberty
You know you have too much stress in your life when you forget you have booked a holiday!

Radio silence from me because I am in Corsica /South of France on my holiday- a holiday that slipped my mind until two days before we were due to go. I had no interwebby this last week as travelling round the canyons of the south French coastline (Verdun) but now we are in the Citadel in Corsica, I have been able to post.

I'm really sorry for not posting. My niece is steadily improving- they said she had no swallow or suck reflex but bless her, she's trying valiantly to breastfeed and is off all her lines/catheters apart from heart/resp monitors. She is so so determined, has opened her big violet blue eyes and cries. My Brother has asked that i pass on his thanks to you all for your kind words and hopes.

My flowers lasted well and I have pressed the roses. The Statice has tooted too. I am due home the 31st and will read and catch up on all your posts. Love to you all and enjoy the British sun-hotter in the UK than here I believe!

shopafrolic Mon 22-Jul-13 14:44:31

Lots of fab Goat dresses on the Outnet today......

QueenCadbury Mon 22-Jul-13 14:50:06

Hey mig good to hear from you. Can't believe you forgot such a gorgeous sounding holiday! So pleased about your niece, it sounds like she's doing really well. Enjoy the rest of your time away smile

mignonette Mon 22-Jul-13 15:01:34

I muddled the date up, wrote the wrong departure on my kitchen calendar (troglodyte) and because we drove down then got the ferry to Corsica, the dates weren't so ingrained in our heads.....The clothes the women and men wear here are so luxe and Parisien on vacances- really Riviera. They do dress like that, they really do with the sweater over the shoulders.....

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Mon 22-Jul-13 15:10:22

Happy belated birthday Liberty and Marsha

Sorry to hear about university One. What's for you won't go by you so try again next year. Hope your BIL is doing ok.

Lovely to hear from you Mig. Excellent news about your niece.

Great links everyone and fab insights into your glam lives. I have been working, working, working (yawn). I went out on saturday night for a friends birthday and wore the infamous Zara skort, black silk vest, turqoise kimono and Jeffrey Campbell sandals. I also tried out a new lippie, Mystic by Sleek makeup. Lots of compliments.

I have another birthday to go to next week and fancied a summery, printed pencil skirt to wear with a v necked black cami and black, block heeled strappy sandals and plumped for this. I'm collecting tomorrow from HOF. Hope it fits!

mignonette Mon 22-Jul-13 15:18:27

Sorry to hear about the university One. Please keep plugging on, you will get your hard work rewarded, I do believe that- wise words from Paris. Sending my hopes and best wishes regarding your BIL too.

And BTW I am wearing gold braided flat sandals two years old from Carvella, a Khaki green mid thigh inverted pleat skirt from Red Herring, a silk sleeveless pleated vest top by Helmut Lang in a pale Primrose yellow and a scarf round my salt destroyed hair by Edina Ronay.

libertychick Mon 22-Jul-13 15:28:53

Welcome back Mig - hope you are having a lovely holiday.

Happy Birthday Marsha!! Not actually the same birthday - mine was Saturday! But close enough smile. thanks all for all the good wishes.

Had a great weekend - apart from getting all tearful on Sunday morning when few people cancelled on my birthday bbq - how sodding childish - I assumed I'd be above that sort of thing at 40!!! But never mind - the majority came, the sun was shining and practically everyone brought bubbles so happy times!

I have the colleague who gets long range forecasts - not at work today but will find out tomorrow.

My Me&Em order arrived too - same reaction as Decam ruched skirt is fab, the ruched top is really itchy so has gone back. Dec I tried the skirt with the Whistles Lena jacket as you suggested and it looks great thanks

And the French Connection dress wasn't in the shop on Saturday. I wore black jeans and my lovely Agnes B shirt.

One I like your New Look dress and coat - I never spot anything in there. One of my friend's yesterday was wearing black trousers from NL, 100% cotton with gold ankle zips - they looked really, really good.

libertychick Mon 22-Jul-13 15:30:27

MrsR Fantastic shoe shopping!

santamarianovella Mon 22-Jul-13 15:35:44

hi mig so glad everything is alright ,a holiday is exactly what you need after all the stress you had lately,Corsica sounds fab. enjoy!

shopafrolic Mon 22-Jul-13 15:42:04

Welcome back Mig
Does anyone know when the Outnet summer clearance was last year? They've started to say coming soon on their Facebook page - I just wondered if it's days or weeks away......

MarshaBrady Mon 22-Jul-13 15:52:27

Oh good one Shop I love that sale. Will be a bun fight as usual! Still, it's better than an actual in store bun fight.

Hi Mignonette holiday and outfit sound lovely.

Paris love that skirt and your outfits.

Liberty close enough grin. Birthday sounds fab.

Foxy oh no, hope you feel you can keep posting, don't go!

Decam what a shame on grey jeans.

libertychick Mon 22-Jul-13 16:00:25

<rolls up sleeves, checks credit card balance, clears diary for the week...>

This time I WILL score on the outnet sale grin

MarshaBrady Mon 22-Jul-13 16:05:42

ha! I know I probably won't after I got so lucky last time!

MarshaBrady Mon 22-Jul-13 16:07:00

We need a code too to announce it's start grin

libertychick Mon 22-Jul-13 16:11:34

Who gets up the earliest? QueenC, Linus????? Someone has to pm everyone.....

MarshaBrady Mon 22-Jul-13 16:15:11

Linus! Linus has the o/s advantage.

I need to some how connect a pm to an alarm clock. hmmmm

I'll jump out of bed pretty quickly that morning.

libertychick Mon 22-Jul-13 16:17:49

grin Marsha

DD up - I have to go watch Peppa Pig with her....

noviceoftheday Mon 22-Jul-13 16:29:56

It's so hot!! I am wearing a fenn wright manson shift dress on a train and just boiling!

Decameron Mon 22-Jul-13 16:42:14

Glad you had a good time despite the last minute cancellations, Liberty and that the Lena jacket works with the skirt.

I can never find grey jeans, Marsha, it's a long term quest! I really want these, might be my August purchase.

I wouldn't mind if it cooled down just a little bit, tbh! Or just until I go to Ireland and have a nice sea breeze. smile

Mignonette, have a great holiday!

I was reading the Frugal thread and someone remarked how the weather has got her out of her skinny jeans, same here, I normally live in them but it's been dresses, shorts and skirts for weeks now.

santamarianovella Mon 22-Jul-13 16:57:54

marsha and liberty you both sound so adorable when you get all excited! pming sounds good,i think they start late morning ,

QueenCadbury Mon 22-Jul-13 17:41:18

I'm only up early at weekends. Dh does the early starts in the week with dd and I stay in bed for an extra hour!!

QueenCadbury Mon 22-Jul-13 18:33:14

Anyone fancy buying this confused

LinusDKD Mon 22-Jul-13 18:34:42

I had a quick search on google and last year a blogger announced on 6th August that the Outnet clearance sale would start the next day, so maybe this year it will be beginning of August as well?

I really hope I will be able to buy some stuff this time as I missed out completely last time. I am usually up earlier than most of you but as it is the holidays DH and I are taking it in turns to have a lie in, so hopefully I will be up early that day. If I am I will pm all of you.

foxy I hope you feel free to post again soon!

mig lovely to hear from you again! Enjoy your holiday, you deserve it!

Dry I love that dress but I'm afraid it wouldn't suit me. But at that price and at 100% cotton I am tempted to give it a try.

I haven't really been clothes shopping in Antwerp as it is way too hot and I am saving myself for NY.

I did see some lovely black Prada courts in the sales but I resisted the temptation to try them on and I also didn't try anything on at Jimmy Choo, even thought they had some gorgeous A/W boots on display.

I did buy a new perfume: S Lutens 'Nuit de Cellophane' (and I got lots of nice perfume samples) and some bits and bobs for the children, but that's about it.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Mon 22-Jul-13 18:35:33

Wow QueenC

wire wool?

It will be 9.30am on a Mon, Tues or Thurs like the new stock.

So glad everything's alright mig enjoy the rest of your holiday smile

I've been really down today, all the excitement about applying to uni and getting things done has finally passed and I feel really deflated. I haven't even done any fantasy shopping which is usually one of my guilty pleasures sad

BIL is doing ok, just taking it easy as much as possible

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Mon 22-Jul-13 20:01:48

Where is everyone? Frantically refreshing The Outnet page in sale anticipation? grin

Love the Me&Em ruched skirt Liberty. So versatile.

Novice Usually I REALLY envy your work wardrobe as I mostly work from home but I feel for you today.

Dec Looooove the jeans, please buy and then wear them a la Mossy

Linus Well done on shoe resistance, you're a better woman than I!

Marsha Glad you like the skirt. I'm aiming for looks like this and this

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Mon 22-Jul-13 20:03:56

this looks cool too, I think.

Paris love the floral pencil skirt
linus there's also another 10% off so the dress cost £27, I thought I'd give it a go. Should arrive tomorrow. Will report back.

Why did it take me sooooo long to buy some Baxters....they fit exactly as I like, skinny but not completely ankle clenching. A great buy.

Received the new Wrap this sweater a lot

Oh and mig glad you're ok and the holiday is going well. DH ( remember Mr Jeeves and Wooster, no style) started slinging his sweaters around his shoulders when we went to Venice a few years ago.......I was confused

Decameron Mon 22-Jul-13 20:20:52

Sorry you are down, One.

I like that KM look, Paris. I've just started following you on Pinterest (initials SM).

Hope you are having a good time, Linus.

Oops Paris I've just bought this £12.50 shock if its horrible I can send it back......loved the pins.....obv v inspiring!grin

MarshaBrady Mon 22-Jul-13 20:30:54

I love those looks Paris. Perfect!

Dry that is pretty.

One ah it's hard when you're looking forward to something.

Decam Frame grey skinnies are up there with a perfect skinny. I'd love some Frame ones.

Linus sounds good!

QueenC that is nuts, they don't have the front view I see I think it would look really odd from the front. Let alone the side.

Haha Santa I am easily pleased grin

Awww, a boy. Was just thinking I would not have wanted to be the person making the decision to do an episiotomy.

shopafrolic Mon 22-Jul-13 20:48:31

It's a boy! Do you think K Middy's back in her skinny jeans by now? I mean, it's been 4 hours now....... grin

LeFreakCestChic Mon 22-Jul-13 20:59:31

dry snap for the skirt! Hope it works as well as the pins do.
mrsRhe's 17 months... Rod.for. Own.back but I need sleep too much to bother with anything else.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Mon 22-Jul-13 21:05:19

Following you back Dec

Good luck with the pencil skirt Dry. I considered that one too still considering this one for winter. Sorry for enabling!

I'm going for Albert as a name

Ooh Paris I love that one too...the zip is a nice detail.

QueenCadbury Mon 22-Jul-13 21:09:56

I'm now imaging that you all lead glamorous lives to go out wearing pencil skirts and stilettos. I'm not sure that I could ever pull off that look.

one chin up, there's always next year. Or you never know what else may come along. I'm a great believer in things happening for a reason...

shopafrolic Mon 22-Jul-13 21:11:50

Gorgeous skirts all....... I used to wear lots of pencil skirts when I worked.... Not sure they're so good for toddler chasing......

QueenCadbury Mon 22-Jul-13 21:12:31

Ooh look...

LeFreak funny you've bought the same skirt! My DD went through a phase or not sleeping terribly well, at about the same age, brought her in with us (felt guilty) it didn't last long, she didn't stay in our bed forever, just until the phase passed...don't beat yourself up about's easy to make rules until you go though it and find they need to bend a bit sometimes.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Mon 22-Jul-13 21:12:59

QueenC You are a blonde winter my friend, there is no way you're not glam!

shop pencil skirts not at all suitable for my job....I'm thinking for going out. Yes, sure Kate will be back on Dukan already!!!!

QueenCadbury Mon 22-Jul-13 21:15:40

You haven't met me paris grin

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Mon 22-Jul-13 21:39:32

QueenC Blonde winter = totes glam grin

Who linked pins of floral skirts? Can't find it now.....would you mind
Linking? Thank you.

santamarianovella Mon 22-Jul-13 22:27:28

paris ,you have the coolest pins! i have been wearing a lot of pencil skirts with tees lately, dec

queen you should dress up in a pencil skirt, with a simple tee and greet mr queen, and see what happens next! or later wink

noviceoftheday Mon 22-Jul-13 22:39:47

Evening all. i am stuffed! Amazing views and great food. smile My dress worked out well in the end for dinner but boy it was hot earlier!

santamarianovella Mon 22-Jul-13 22:46:09

novice was it hutong that you dined at?

noviceoftheday Mon 22-Jul-13 22:57:55

Hi Santa yes it was Hutang. Great food but our table were a bit chilli and garlic mad. That little accompaniment dish of chillis and garlic oil they bring you at the beginning is a killer. But cocktails v yummy. As is the rice wine. Must brush teeth...!

santamarianovella Mon 22-Jul-13 23:04:31

Thanks novice,DH is a huge fan of Asian food, and I'm getting bored of hakkasan! Will try to see if I could manage to book for beginning of August.

libertychick Mon 22-Jul-13 23:17:22

There are 10, yes 10, bra threads on page 1 of S& are people still talking about them??? We need to get some A/W clothes into the shops fast or I might just expire with boredom....

Sorry you are feeling low one - hope you feel better tomorrow.

Paris great pencil skirt pins.

Can't believe it's still 25 degrees...poor Kate, childbirth on the hottest day though I suppose the Lindo wing probably has aircon.

libertychick Mon 22-Jul-13 23:20:55

grin at Shop re Kate's skinny's! Do you reckon Pippa and Carole are in their right now helping her hoick them up? I remember pulling on tight jeans with a mate when I was younger - we would stand face to face holding the waistband of the other's jeans then jump up and down frantically till we got them up!!!!

noviceoftheday Mon 22-Jul-13 23:23:39

Santa, I haven't eaten at Hakassan for a long time, but I think the food there is probably better. Doesn't mean hutong is bad and it might just be because we went chilli mad! I hear the Hakassan at Berkeley square is v good - I have only eaten at the original one. Give hutong a try!

santamarianovella Mon 22-Jul-13 23:40:01

yes the one on bruton street is very good we go there very often,we tried the hanway place one and were not impressed, will give it a try.

LeFreakCestChic Mon 22-Jul-13 23:53:22

paris, I had my eye on that skirt too but am still a bit wary of pencil skirts as I would wear them to work and they feel too tight/ inappropriate ( just how I feel in them). Now trying to break out of that with the me and em dresses and a couple of pencil skirts ( in larger sizes!).
What does one wear with a pencil skirt to keep the look smartish but toned down for work?
dry, I'm just crap & lazy with getting my kids to sleep in the own beds! Does 4 years for DC1 count as a phase? blush

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Tue 23-Jul-13 00:19:36

Seems busier on here at midnight than midday!

Sweltering here despite recent cool shower. Got the windows open for air but the thunder's quite noisy. Still catching up via iPhone on 3G because wifi link keeps disappearing - the pleasures of the sticks. Can't open many of the links so I'm going to have a proper catch up tomorrow at work. On the subject of grey jeans, I bought some Pepe grey jeans from Asos that I'd really recommend - comfy and sexy.
Going to try to go to sleep now, but it's difficult as I'm watching Elementary on TV and I love Lucy Liu, so can't switch it off.

QueenCadbury Tue 23-Jul-13 03:39:13

I've just been woken up by the loudest thunder and the brightest thunder and now can't sleep. Thank goodness that dh is here otherwise I'd be really scared. Can't believe the kids haven't woken up!

santa somehow me dressing down a pencil skirt with a tee wouldn't work. It would look like I'd got dressed in the dark. I'm not cool enough to pull off that kind of look. I can o casual, I can do glam but I can't combine the two confused. Sure mr queen would love it though wink

QueenCadbury Tue 23-Jul-13 04:09:57

Following on from the weird headpiece, I've found something more bizarre. hi vis vest anyone?

noviceoftheday Tue 23-Jul-13 04:39:27

QueenC, just going back to bed after a long visit from dd!

Marsha wore a pencil skirt (think it was Wang ruched?) with neon tee and heels at our MU. She looked fantastic. Wouldn't have thought of that combo myself!

LinusDKD Tue 23-Jul-13 05:56:01

Just lost a long post and it's too early and hot to re-type everything.

I love those pencil skirts paris and I have been wearing mine loads in this weather as an alternative to shorts.

I wear my Asos ones with my white or navy M&E boyfriend tee or with my white oversized Zara tee knotted in the waist. I usually wear them with Gigis as running after DC in a pencil skirt and stilettos might be asking for trouble.

Maybe I should get a print pencil skirt as all mine are plain...

Today we're going more furniture and soft furnishings shopping but so far we've not found anything we like. Maybe it's the wrong time of year to look?

Love this crown

crown <curtseys> morning!
Thunder storm has just arrived up north......and I bet the Gigis arrive today!!!!!!!!grin
QueenC are Browns serious?shock and have you seen the price? Really!!!!!!!! I'm a bit more dressy uppy....not sure the relaxed t shirt would work on me with thee coil skirt.....but a sweater or vest to would.

"The pencil skirt" bloody predictive text grrrrr

MarshaBrady Tue 23-Jul-13 08:59:14

I hope you are all you know where shopping!

I got some I&I stuff as usual.

Two cashmere jumpers and two silk tops.

Come and share your links!

noviceoftheday Tue 23-Jul-13 09:00:57

Waaaah! Having bad luck at moment!

McNally Tue 23-Jul-13 09:11:29

An I&I cashmere sweater too Marsha.

foxysocks Tue 23-Jul-13 09:13:42

hola! I also like the skirt with tee look - am wearing grey wang skirt with neon yellow j crew tee today, with vejas for school run.

and BOY did I run. couldn't check out my outnet basket at 8.35 so sprinted to school and back with confused DD, threw her into the classroom and sprinted home.

got this blue cashmere sweater and these pink shorts - not on clearance but have been eyeing them for ages and we are on hols as of Fri so hoping will be useful.

didn't think the discounts were amazing tbh.

I also ordered the pink bubblegum cashmere but just cancelled it from the order as really would prefer a hot pink <sensible head>

will be here on and off guys, I love you all too much to cut and run.

btw the sandals in this blog post are lovely, got about five compliments in first ten min outing yesterday. look more expensive than they are.

foxysocks Tue 23-Jul-13 09:14:32

what colour cashmere did you guys get - mcnally, marsha, am sure there will be more of us!

McNally Tue 23-Jul-13 09:18:31

Same blue one foxy. Hoping it is bright IRL. Love those sandals too. Have been pondering them for a while so good to know they've been a hit.

McNally Tue 23-Jul-13 09:21:03

Meant to say, love the pencil skirt and t shirt look. That floral skirt and grey t shirt combination paris pinned is totally up my street. Really, really love the skirt.

MarshaBrady Tue 23-Jul-13 09:26:52

The soft grey one with silk back. I have so many bright cashmere jumpers I wanted to get a non-bright one.

silk top and a deep navy silk one the same, can't get link for some reason.

I nearly got the navy cashmere but thought that was enough I&I!

Love those sandals and all the links Foxy great to see you posting!

I do love the pencil skirt tshirt look. I'd probably go for that out of those two links, although I love the other look it's just not me as much.

MarshaBrady Tue 23-Jul-13 09:30:01

Or rich blue, rather. The one you both have. Looks lovely.

Annianni Tue 23-Jul-13 09:34:18

Thanks for the pm Marsha.

I had a Stella M sports bra and a Farhi shearling jacket in my basket then it crashed.

The jacket was £119 from £595 but it's black, and I know I don't suit black... got to the landline to ring customer services and thought... what are you doing?! grin

The reductions aren't as good as last time, i&i especially.

Nothing else I fancied <shrug>

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 09:34:25

That's hilarious Marsha - I've ordered the same grey cashmere, and gave up trying for the silk top as it kept crashing!!

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 09:34:49

I really wanted the purple I&I v neck but they didn't have a large.....

foxysocks Tue 23-Jul-13 09:35:04

good choice mcnally <fist bump>

marsha that soft grey is lovely. am trying SO hard not to buy grey stuff atm! am inexplicably drawn to it. only exception may be some tweedy grey shorts for AW to wear with boots and opaques.

am gutted these didn't make the clearance. for £50 I would buy them but £100 too much.

foxysocks Tue 23-Jul-13 09:36:02

I agree anni, last time was better. but still I think cashmere for around the £50 mark is pretty good, IF it's good quality.

MarshaBrady Tue 23-Jul-13 09:38:41

McNally was the star! A tweet on somewhere (Red?) I believe. What a great tip off! thank you thanks

Shop excellent choice!

I know it wasn't as good as last time. £50 odd is still quite a lot really, not as good as £20 odd. And I&I was the only stuff I could see that seemed to be worth it.

I love those c/e metallic skinnies Foxy.

McNally Tue 23-Jul-13 09:40:53

Grey cashmere is lovely shop and Marsha. Was tempted too but have a lot of grey sweaters at the moment. Slightly worried that with more cashmere I'm making the bloody moths, that I can't get rid of, very happy. Next purchase, more moth spray...

MrsRadicchio Tue 23-Jul-13 09:55:16

The outnet has now totally crashed for me! So far haven't seen anything I fancy but always good to have a browse. Thanks for the pm Marsha.

Good shopping guys!

I am hating the weather today <grinch> so humid and hot.

Can't believe your gigis haven't arrived yet Dry - are they being dispatched from the US?

Foxy am sorry to hear about your worries about being outed IRL. Would a name change help or not enough?

Anni shearling jacket sounds fab though well done for not getting on the basis that black isn't your colour. I didn't see it when I was briefly on.

Novice I saw a pink top and thought of you - if I can get back on I will link (if it is still available).

My boden sandals arrived. Thought I would feedback as some of you mentioned you liked them. They seem really well made, completely leather including sole, very pretty HOWEVER I am sending them back as they look delicate and I tend to wear my shoes heavily so I don't think they would last long. Am sticking to my saltwaters

One am sorry to hear about the course. How are you feeling today?

Mig welcome back and enjoy your holiday!

libertychick Tue 23-Jul-13 10:13:15

I could weep - have been at work and v busy since before 7am and didn't have time to check - have spent the last 30 mins trying to buy the I&I grey cashmere but the site just keeps crashing - have to give up now - thanks for the pm's Marsha and McNally smile

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Tue 23-Jul-13 10:29:13

Dry I linked to some pencil skirt pins. I'm not sure if they are what you mean put I'll link again anyway.

Look 1

Look 2

Look 3

The summery one I have bought

The wintery one I'm considering unless all you lurkers nab it first! grin

I like this one too though I fully understand that most people would not!

LeFreak I wear pencil skirts a lot for work when I am not working from home and I find that a plain shirt works really well. My friend wears them with little cardigans. If you are blessed with a tiny waist then high waisted and fully tucked in looks amazing. Sadly, I am not very curvy so I shall stick to a semi tuck until the millions of squats and planks I've been doing have an effect!

Thanks for the Outnet tip off McNally. I quite fancy some new knitwear but the arsing website keeps arsing well crashing. I shall persevere, eyes on the prize...........

Foxy I like the jeans, they'd cheer you up on a grey winters day. I got some ankle boots with silver glitter on the back last winter and I have never had so many compliments on a pair of shoes. I have a lot of shoes!

HOF have texted me to say my pencil skirt is here. Fingers crossed it fits as it seems to be selling rather rapidly now. How strange! wink

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Tue 23-Jul-13 10:30:21

MrsR I love the yellow saltwaters, so cheerful.

Annianni Tue 23-Jul-13 10:32:28

Lovely shopping everyone.

Try again later Liberty.

Does anyone remember when I was obsessed with these beauties? grin

I've been stalking them for ages, playing chicken with the sales and watching them get reduced. Daren't wait any longer, so i've just ordered them.
I tried a us9 when Matches' sale first started (which I usually am in Sam Edelman) and they were huge... so fingers crossed for the us8.

Finally tried J Crew cashmere yesterday, and it is huge but looks lovely with my Goldsign Diva's and I can see myself wearing it a lot in Winter.

Undecided on these James jeans they are very dark navy, but not sure what shoes i'd wear with them... need to have another try I think.

MrsRadicchio Tue 23-Jul-13 10:52:55

Outnet working again!

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Tue 23-Jul-13 10:57:43

Oh Anni Your new purcheses are gorgeous! I have some dark navy jeans that I have been wearing with white chelsea boots for years.

Speaking of cashmere, I'll need a little help from you lot in the next couple of months and here's why.

I always buy really cheap knitwear, I've never paid more than £10. This is because I have no idea what to get and I am afraid that if I buy something more expensive I will ruin it or it will go out of shape of it's own accord and I will have wasted my money.

In a couple of months time I will give myself a budget of £200 and buy some decent knitwear. Will you all help me throught the process?!

LinusDKD Tue 23-Jul-13 11:06:21

Thanks McNally for the pm!

I tried forwarding the mesaage to as many people as possible but DPIL were waiting for me to take a family picture in the garden hmm so I just managed to buy a bright blue I&I cashmere jumper and pm 3 or 4 people and then I had to run.

Will look at everyone's links later when I've got 5 seconds to myself.

Annianni Tue 23-Jul-13 11:07:07

Of course we'll help you spend money Paris grin

Just tried the James again and I'm sending them back.
They feel like trousers on, and look daft with my 3 pairs of new boots.

Annianni Tue 23-Jul-13 11:11:49

Dh has just text me saying ds2's name is one of the bookies' favourites for the royal baby hmm

MarshaBrady Tue 23-Jul-13 11:12:19

Ha yes Paris yes of course grin

Lovely shopping Anni.

Ah Liberty I probably won't keep everything I already have I&I overload guilt. Probably just one silk top anyway. Who has those, are they good?

Sorry I didn't get you all in the pm, I just grabbed a list from the meet up as takes ages to get all names, went for speed!

Topazandpearl Tue 23-Jul-13 11:13:01

Thank you Marsha for the pm! Been trying all morning and have finally managed to get the blue I&I. Am quite excited as it will be my first cashmere sweater smile.
Hope everyone is happy with their purchases and good luck to those still trying!

MrsRadicchio Tue 23-Jul-13 11:17:45

Paris are you not tempted by the Iris and Ink cashmere? Gets good reviews on here.

Nice shopping Anni. Did you ever get the adenas?

In my on going shoe buying binge (tbf most going back so far) I have bought these

sam edelman aster

25% extra off on shoeaholics.

I meant to ask what everyone wore yesterday, the hottest day since 2006?! I wore polka dot palazzos and grey t-shirt. Project 333 has so far taught me that I need some good quality t-shirts. I went through a phase of getting chinti and parker t-shirts but the quality doesn't seem too good, they are v delicate in any case. Either they have holes or are completely misshapen, or would you think that is reasonable for t-shirts I bought 2 years ago?

I love this on the outnet but sitting on hands in case it isn't my colour. Also comes in pink

QueenCadbury Tue 23-Jul-13 11:21:58

Morning. Thanks for the pm marsha and mcnally. I just had a browse at the dresses and if I wanted black then there are loads I would have ordered but nothing in a cobalt that I'd prefer. Although I still can't get that dvf jumpsuit out of my head.

Great shopping everyone. Glad you all got bargains. mrsR saltwaters are great aren't they? I've hardly taken mine off!

Dd1 leaves infants tomorrow and have just been to her leavers service. I was a blubbing mess!

Annianni Tue 23-Jul-13 11:25:23

I did find a 6.5 in the Selfridges sale MrsR, but they were £75.
Brand alley had them for £50 ish but no half sizes.

They have a new version of the shoe on Shopbop which are leather, might order those at some point.

Love that i&i, very nice.

QueenCadbury Tue 23-Jul-13 11:27:23

mrsR it depends on how often you've worn and washed them. I hate paying much for tees as I always find them to mis-shape in the end so I stick to Dorothy Perkins.

paris I don't spend much on knitwear either. I've never bought cashmere as I'm scared to that I'll ruin it (or rather that dd will with mucky fingers).

Still not convinced by the pencil skirt look for me. Since getting rid of my skirts that I used to wear for work I now don't own any. I think I must have funny proportions as I find it hard to know what tops to wear with them. Things tucked in just cut me in half so not a good look. I do the semi tuck with jeans so it may work with skirts I guess.

santamarianovella Tue 23-Jul-13 13:18:02

thanks mcnally and linus for the pm, i did see alot of things i like but they have soldout sad.

shopbop are offering %25 off all sale items,

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Tue 23-Jul-13 13:36:13

Can I also add my thanks for the PMs this morning too.

I was going for that grey I&I also Marsha...until the site crashed [grrr]

Love those sandals Foxy and when I clicked the link saw that the yellow/black I favoured were still (just) available in my size. Then I gave myself a good shake because I've already got SE Gables in yellow/zebra and just how many chances would I get to wear 2 styles of sandals in v similar colourways? Reining myself in - I'm v proud grin

Off on hols tonight and, while I've had my despatch emails from J Crew for the 2 dresses, they have yet to arrive. Everything crossed they get here before 6pm, but I'm thinking they won't. They'll probably arrive tomorrow when I'm halfway to Portugal.

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 13:47:13

Oooo - loving all the fab links on the thread.
Anni so pleased you got those fab Sam Edelman trainers - I love it when the wait pays off
MrsR I love those shoes - and that cashmere jumper, I very nearly bought it in the green.
Foxy are you the C on Pin who is pinning lots of fab looks for AW13? Lovely things! I'm glad you're back with us smile
I'm kicking myself for not ordering the purple I&I in a medium now but I doubt I've shrunk!
Hottest day of the year yesterday was spent feeling hot and horrid in GAP boyfriend shorts and a tee with my Sam Edelman Gables which got lots of compliments. I've had a lot of people telling me my legs look good in shorts so that's been a plus as I've been really self conscious. I didn't ever show off my legs in my 30s, I figure this is my last chance. Perhaps I'll get braver for AW and try a skirt.......
I was hoping that fab red patterned skirt that MrsR linked to on the Outnet would be in clearance but unfortunately not!
I am also lacking basic tees I realise - mainly because I've made poor fabric choices and I need to get more natural fibres. Does anyone have a great basic grey tee from anywhere they can recommend? I can't do modal in grey in hot weather it seems blush
Paris last year was my first time splashing out on better quality knitwear. So far, so good. I've been able to machine wash my cashmere in laundry bags on a cold handwash cycle, and merino wool has been successful for me too....... As Anni says - always happy to help you splurge!
Right - who have I missed?

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 13:47:57

Happy holidays Grumpy envy

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 14:07:34

Blimey - Outnet order has already shipped!

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 14:08:24

Amber love your new challenge - is now a good time to launch your Fashion Fairy idea if you can't shop for yourself.....?

McNally Tue 23-Jul-13 14:08:57

Great trainers Anni and well done with the restraint in your game of chicken with them! (You clearly have good taste in DS names too!).

Enjoy your holiday Grumpy. Hope the dresses arrive.

I recently bought this grey Gap t shirt shop and am pretty happy with it. It is 100% cotton and was cheap (and on 3 for 2) so doesn't matter too much if it wears out. It comes up big, so looks quite slouchy rather than fitted as it appears on the website. Also think the J Crew vintage cotton t shirt is pretty good. Less uniform colour than the Gap one, if that makes sense. Also quite slouchy.

QueenCadbury Tue 23-Jul-13 14:23:27

shop have you tried h&m?

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 14:25:33

I seem to struggle with twisted seams on H&M stuff QueenC - not sure if I'm washing things wrong?

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 14:31:12

Thanks for those McNally - Marsha is your neon J Crew that vintage one? (I know I've asked you that before - sorry!)

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 14:33:34

Any J Crew codes knocking about at the moment please?

Annianni Tue 23-Jul-13 14:45:57

Who mentioned Shopbop with the extra 25% off????

Just got these Goldsign's...

And as they were going to charge me postage, I threw this and this in my basket... so postage was then free.

I have the plum one in pale grey and have worn it loads, thought plum would be nice for A/W.

Annianni Tue 23-Jul-13 14:47:53

I have that Gap essential tee in grey and neon pink, it washes great.

Annianni Tue 23-Jul-13 14:48:50

H&M vests always go a weird shape when I wash them, and the seams come undone too.
I've stopped buying from there.

MarshaBrady Tue 23-Jul-13 14:50:37

Mine's been shipped too!

Yep Shop J Crew vintage.

Great shopping Anni and MrsR.

Have a fabulous holiday Grumpy.

MarshaBrady Tue 23-Jul-13 14:53:33

Topaz glad you got the cashmere well done!

Got this jumper and some navy skinnies which I can't find a link for. My new look order is ready to collect so will be popping out tomorrow for that. In less fashiny news, I spent the night in A&E last night, turns out I have three broken toes! Two of them are broken in two places as well, it's no wonder my foot had swollen like a balloon yesterday. That's what sleepwalking does for you.....stay in bed kids grin

Thanks Marsha and McNally for the PMs ...v thoughtful. Love it when a big sale starts on MNV, it goes NUTS!!!!!great shopping everyone.

Well, what did I say earlier would happen on the day it poured? No, not the Royal Baby.....*the Gigis have arrived*.... Bloody gorgeous , came from US. Thanks MNV another satisfied customer grin but the wait nearly killed me

Paris thanks or the floral skirt pins. I love that look.....think it will work summer and winter.

yaya, they finally arrived dry !! Hopefully there will be at least a few more days of good weather so you finally get to wear them

Annianni Tue 23-Jul-13 16:41:49

Yea... finally Dry.
Are you wearing them now?
I've worn my silver ones lots.

One... poor you.
Take it easy please thanks

Have you tried the Grazia code on J crew Shop?
It was still working a week or 2 ago.

Happy holidays to Mig and Grumps.

I might petition The Outnet and nag them to do xl in the iris and ink knitwear which is probably easier than losing weight

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Tue 23-Jul-13 17:23:40

MrsR I liked the look of the I&I knitwear but I couldn't get on the bloody site long enough before it crashed. I tried many times!

Thanks for the advice/ comments re knitwear everybody. Over the next month or so I'll narrow it down to what I really need and then the search will begin.

One Poor you with all those broken toes, you must be in agony sad

Hooray for the Gigis Dry

Have a great holiday Grumpy

I tried on the pencil skirt and it is mahoosive round the hips and knees sad. Don't know whether to order the next size down as the print is fab. It might just be my body shape though, 35in hips and 27in waist with suprisingly prominent love handles does not eqate to a Christina Hendricks figure grin

santamarianovella Tue 23-Jul-13 17:25:32

yay dry!

ani it was me!grin some great finds
at the sales sections, cant decide what to get! the tees are very cheap, some great philip lim dresses. it might take some time for me!

one thats terrible!

Turquoiseblue Tue 23-Jul-13 17:31:16

Lovely links, re the pencil skirts - I have a few a wear the tshirt / loose cami with it mostly. Day birger et Michelson do this top in a few different colours and they do it most seasons
It works really well tucked into a pencil skirt.

Turquoiseblue Tue 23-Jul-13 17:32:33

Apologies that should read ' and wear them tucked into pencil skirt'

I'm very envy at everyone who can wear a pencil skirt. I have massive overhang from a c-section (twins!) so anything tight or tucked in over it really shows it off in the worst possible way. I've been told the only thing to be done for it is surgery but I don't feel it bothers me enough to try and get it done on the NHS in all honesty

foxysocks Tue 23-Jul-13 17:47:58

Oh god. I want about half of the wrap aw collection.

Yes shop that's me! I thought you knew that already actually, maybe I am more incognito than I thought! (unlikely)

Told you....linked nice jumper from wrap yesterday foxy

foxysocks Tue 23-Jul-13 18:20:58

I could spend £500 without even blinking. Dammit! Why do AW collections have to be so amazing?!

noviceoftheday Tue 23-Jul-13 18:21:17

Hello gorgeous ladiessmile thanks to McNally and Marsha for the pms this morning. I was on it straight away but every sodding thing I liked the look of was sold out in xs or s. saw a couple things that weren't sold out and couldn't grab them quickly enough!!! Then have had one of those massively busy days so haven't had time to return to it. Gah, I shall just enjoy looking at your links instead!

look I want this!!grin

MarshaBrady Tue 23-Jul-13 19:26:37

Get in quickly Dry grin

Just looked at them leaving the hospital on the news. Kate M looks great doesn't she. Really happy.

MarshaBrady Tue 23-Jul-13 19:29:33

Foxy A/W always looks amazing at this time of the year doesn't it? Dammit! grin

Novice ah don't worry am sure there's something even better out there.

Decameron Tue 23-Jul-13 19:35:44

Thanks McNally and Marsha for the pms. I was tempted by an I & I shirt but when I saw you can't return, I decided not to risk it.

Love the jeans and bracelets, Annie.

I like pencil skirts but wear the jersey ones instead of the formal ones I had for work. The playground is my office atm. wink

Glad the Gigis have arrived, Dry, I think they are worth waiting for!

Ouch, One, you poor thing.

Have a great holiday, Grumpy.

It was sweltering yesterday! I wore Whistles khaki shorts and this blouse.

I went to Westfield today and bought these [ shoes]], also ordered these red shoes and yet another sale top from Me & Em.

Decameron Tue 23-Jul-13 19:36:31
MarshaBrady Tue 23-Jul-13 19:55:32

You can't return? <faints>

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Tue 23-Jul-13 19:55:33

Foxy You are so right about Wraps A/W stuff. I love this jacket and this jacket

Boo on Outnet miss Novice I failed to score too!

I think those gorgeous Kors heels are crying out for a pencil skirt Decameron

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Tue 23-Jul-13 19:56:44

Also meant to say that Kate looked lovely today, so relaxed and informal.

MarshaBrady Tue 23-Jul-13 20:07:48

Lovely things Decam, gorgeous shoes and love that top.

Nice AW blazers Paris.

Decameron Tue 23-Jul-13 20:16:26

They'll have to make do with a stretchy skirt, Paris! I like those jackets.

Well, the shirt I was looking at was final sale, no returns, Marsha. But surely they are obliged to give you 7 days cooling off.

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 20:16:42

Mmmmm - just checked on the i&I cashmere and it says you can return?

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 20:17:53

Dry your Gigis!!!! yay!!!!!!! wine

QueenCadbury Tue 23-Jul-13 20:21:53

dry about bloody time! And thank goodness you love them after such a long wait grin.

Lost track of all the links as a very large glass of wine has gone straight to my head.

Kate looked lovely and also very emotional. She must have had her hairdresser visit though. No-one'smvolunteered hair looks like that otherwise 24 h after giving birth!

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 20:22:06

Forgive my ignorance but who are Wrap? Not sure I've heard of them before......

MarshaBrady Tue 23-Jul-13 20:44:38

I don't know much about Wrap except for links on here Shop.

Was there a clearance and a final sale? I missed that. I assume I would have noticed if no returns on items I got, I hope grin

Decameron Tue 23-Jul-13 20:47:15

It said no return when I added my shirt to the basket. Not everything then. Regardless, they have to accept refunds.

Decameron Tue 23-Jul-13 20:47:33

returns not refunds.

MarshaBrady Tue 23-Jul-13 20:54:18

Thanks Decam, I don't think I had that, good to know.

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 21:00:36

Thanks Decam
I had another more leisurely look this evening - not much there this sale. For AW I could have spent £££££££££££

Wrap for Marsha and Shop

K and Wills looked thrilled...I can't believe she practically skipped down those steps......shock

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 22:03:05

Thanks Dry - I just wondered if they're new? Are they a sister company of a bigger brand? British?

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 22:06:56

They seem to be owned by the same company that own Poetry.

noviceoftheday Tue 23-Jul-13 22:09:40

Hi Shop, I have just had another little look too. Still not anything I fancied. The wallet is staying shut!

The dcs played up tonight at bed time so dh and I both exhausted and he is really grumpy. sad he's out again tomorrow night and I think he was relieved that he won't be coming home early enough to deal with bedtime. The silly thing is my last meeting was in his area I stoically walked by the shops, went to meet and asked if he wanted to stay out and he said no! (Ps, if I worked in the area dh does, we would be broke!)

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 22:24:19

Poor you Novice
DS played up tonight too - I think the heat is f@cking with their tiny heads grin

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Tue 23-Jul-13 23:00:31

Evening O Stylish Ones. Just sitting in the hotel bar at the airport while DH buys me a nightcap. Just eaten a very late and carb-laden dinner and ready for my wake up call in FIVE HOURS shock. Needless to say, JCrew dresses due tomorrow (ie too late) but had a message to say Boden AW parcel despatched so nice pressies to come home to anyway. Goodnight my lovelies - I'm going to get my drink on now and then pass out until I have to get up for my obscenely early flight. Mwah!

shopafrolic Tue 23-Jul-13 23:04:35

Safe travels Grumpy

MarshaBrady Tue 23-Jul-13 23:10:10

Sleep well and travel well Grumpy.

The earliest I've got up for a flight was 2.30am. Utterly bonkers.

Although London (around Liverpool) is still quite busy at 3.30am. Was so tired the next day.

libertychick Tue 23-Jul-13 23:17:08

Have a good trip Grumpy.

Paris I will follow your knitwear quest with interest – without wanting to put you off I find it very hard to buy knits and get stressed every time about washing them. My best buys were an APC wool jumper (NAP winter sale) and a Pure Collection cardi (TKMaxx). TKMaxx is excellent for knits IMO

Marsha I have an I&I silk top in off white – it was something I meant to return and forgot blush. It’s very sheer so I always need a vest underneath which annoys me – I am thinking about dying it a different colour to see if that helps.

Great shopping today! Glad you got the Edelman’s Anni - I love them.

Hottest day clothes - an ancient chambray skirt and cotton Zara T. V boring and not at all stylish but I was at home all day recovering from a hangover. Dressing for work is such a PITA in the heat - the summer things need ironing, all that cotton and linen and it's just too hot to face it. Am afraid to wear anything silk in case I sweat on them and ruin them!!!!

Ouch One - sore toes - not nice.

Safe travels grumpy

LinusDKD Wed 24-Jul-13 05:39:45

grumpy safe travels.

one ouch, broken toes.

dry finally, you have your Gigis! I hope they were worth the wait.

I nearly melted yesterday, it was so hot. I wore one of the M&E dresses I bought in the sale and it was just too hot.

It has cooled off overnight so I might wear one of my Splendid maxi skirts with a M&E boyfriend tee today.

We are flying to NY tomorrow and I still have to pack but I only have a vague idea of what I'll take. It's probably going to be even hotter than here but at least they have air con over there.

Oh and my plane outfit! Any tips on how to be stylish and comfortable?

DH was up at 4am to catch a flight to Zurich this morning - I was a right grumpy bitch!

Day two of the no spend challenge. I'm a vision in navy leopard print today...

QueenCadbury Wed 24-Jul-13 07:43:12

Morning. My dc are also playing up. I'm having 5 min of me time on the iPad before I have to deal with them properly! Last day of school so lots of emotions from the elder two.

Have a good holiday grumpy.

Catch you all laters.

linus jersey maxi dress, converse, fitted cardi and pashmina rolloed up in bag......I wore to travel last year, so comfy, felt as if I was wearing my nightie!
Amber it's an amazing watching with interest and know you can do it.......when you get that bag it will be worth it !

My challenge should outfit with gold Gigis every day grin

Oh and Grumpy have a fab time....shame the J Crew dress didn't arrive but I'm sure it won't spoil your break.

LinusDKD Wed 24-Jul-13 08:31:48

dry a jersey maxi dress is a brilliant idea. I might wear my M&E navy maxi dress. I don't have any Converse but I do have some Superga. Not sure if the colour will work with navy though.

I'll try my Boden navy crochet jacket with the dress and I'll take my trusty black Pickett pashmina as usual.

Looking forward to some duty free cosmetics shopping in the Airport!

amber I really admire you but I couldn't do it, I just don't have the imagination.

shopafrolic Wed 24-Jul-13 08:34:41

Morning lovely people
half price white Sam Edelman heels

Annianni Wed 24-Jul-13 08:54:55

Just had the lovely pleasure of turning my alarm off for 6 weeks... fabulous!

Can someone please remind me to pick ds1 up at lunchtime grin

My Shopbop order is on it's way already <squee>

Good luck for the challenge Amber.

To be fair, I have got a lot of stuff to work through...

foxysocks Wed 24-Jul-13 09:53:49

i can't wait to see the daily pics amber, i know you'll rock it. I am tempted to try similar but I have a short list of 'needs' rather than wants for AW so i think I would fail. (thanks for the DM btw, I replied, hope you got it. x)

shopbop are aces quick aren't they anni? I regret not ordering those distressed white jeans from them when I had the chance, there have been NO good white jeans in the sales so looks like I'm waiting till 2014 now.

DD had another meltdown this morning, she is beyond shattered, end of school today cannot come soon enough.

I was v pleased with outfit this morning - cream silk miniskirt (reiss), cobalt slouchy tee (wang) and the yellow/zebra sandals. one of the mums told me I was a really great shopper which made me grin. little does she know about my behind-the-scenes team of lovelies!

is anyone elses outnet order out for delivery today? I broke the news to DH this morning after, erm, making sure he was in a good mood blush so have a pass to keep the lot if i like it <fingers crossed>

QueenCadbury Wed 24-Jul-13 10:03:41

Wahay, I had a compliment today and was told I look nice. Weirdly I'm not even that happy with the outfit as it's navy chinos and navy patterned blouse but the navy's don't match up. Obviously looks ok though! Then my morning was ruined by another mum having a go at me and dd. it's a long back story but I was still very upset. I'm already an emotional wreck about the last day if school!

Inspired by amber i've decided not to buy anything until my shopping trip to London in October (still haven't booked the train-I'm hoping it may come down from £50). The only things I'm allowed to buy is an emerald (or possibly Chinese blue) cardigan if I come across one and the 40th outfit if I find something before October. I've got enough clothes to keep me going until then and it'll give me an opportunity to really think about what I need for AW. I'll just have to do lots of fantasy shopping and enabling for you guys grin.

foxysocks Wed 24-Jul-13 10:07:55

wtf queenc? poor you! what kind of a mum has a go at another on the SR?? ((hugs))

anyone have any thoughts on this dress? what is 'cupro'?

the shape looks good for me and could be great for india too (sleeves necess) as long as breathable.

QueenCadbury Wed 24-Jul-13 12:12:09

Thanks foxy. It's not so much the way she spoke to me but the way she spoke to dd. As I said, there's history there and I think she was just having a go as it's her last opportunity! Whatever her dd has done to mine I would never speak to her like that. Different classes in the juniors thank goodness!

Have just googled cupro and it's similar to rayon and is reprocessed cellulose whatever that it grin

MarshaBrady Wed 24-Jul-13 12:16:46

Thank goodness QueenC! You don't need to be around that.

Foxy I really like it for India but don't know much about the material.

The outnet stuff has arrived. I love ti. Chartreuse one is gorgeous yellow and light grey is the palest grey/lilac which I love. Also cobalt silk t is fab.

Will send back nude/pink one as too see-through, I agree Liberty!

Annianni Wed 24-Jul-13 12:30:36

How awful QueenC.
Was your dd upset by it?

Nice frock Foxy.

And fab news on the outnet order Marsha.

I need to start my spending ban again after the Shopbop order... grin

Just bought a carpet and some paint.
Decorating Ds1's new room starts Saturday!

QueenCadbury Wed 24-Jul-13 12:42:13

Not sure anni as she went off into class. I hope not as she was already emotional about her last day bless her.

Must stop buying Oreo ice creams for the kids. They are 195 calories of deliciousness.

Annianni Wed 24-Jul-13 12:54:35

Poor thing QueenC.

Just got home and there's a tacky white limo parked outside my house.

I hope the neighbours don't think it's anything to do with me! grin

There's a load of pink cowboy hats in it, along the windows... people driving past were looking as I got my shopping out of the car.

shopafrolic Wed 24-Jul-13 12:56:38

Arse - missed my delivery - and double arse - I doubt grey lilac is going to suit me.
On a positive note please pat me on the back. I went to TK Maxx. Tried stuff on. Queued up and then thought - WTF are you doing? None of it is that great and you don't need it. Put it back and left the store. Polishes halo (after beating up the school run mum for QueenC )

shopafrolic Wed 24-Jul-13 13:05:35

Foxy Whistles started telling me all sorts of technical stuff about the new breathable fabrics they use now..... not sure if that's one of them. The dress looks a similar shape to my green one but without the pleats which is very flattering on.

MarshaBrady Wed 24-Jul-13 13:06:43

It's very subtle Shop a dusky colour really, rather than lilac. But yep not sure if in your colours.

santamarianovella Wed 24-Jul-13 13:22:19

queen poor you! she has no right to talk to you or your dd like that. hope your dd is not upset, some people never grow up!

foxy your outfit sounds fab!, im not that sure about the dress tbh,

marsha thats great, i tried this morning to see if any of the things i like are back in my size ,but no luck.

ani shopbop is amazing,if only the shipping and duties charges were cheaper.

shop good for you.

amber good luck.

MarshaBrady Wed 24-Jul-13 13:35:08

Had another look. You know that duskiness of F&B paint how some greys verge into muted lilac territory. Am finding it hard to convey. I guess you'll find out if right soon!

Annianni Wed 24-Jul-13 13:38:55

Just picked Ds1 up from school.
They were told to bring a toy or game in, nothing valuable or needed plugging in, so he took monopoly.

Nobody would play with him, everyone was playing with ipads, ipods etc.

He's upset, poor thing.

MarshaBrady Wed 24-Jul-13 13:43:32

Oh no Anni that sucks! Poor ds. Ds1 would have played monopoly with him, he loves it, doesn't lose that well however!

Ok this this sort of grey I think. Muted, but warmish <no idea really, probably will look totally different>

QueenCadbury Wed 24-Jul-13 13:48:55

I love monopoly, I'll play. How old are these kids? Mine play with the iPad at home but I wouldn't trust them to take it into school.

Well done shop (on both the non shopping and beating up the mum for me grin).

So, is no-one else tempted to have a couple of months off shopping....?

shopafrolic Wed 24-Jul-13 13:51:41

It's a no from me QueenC! Said in the style of Louis Walsh......
Lots of new vintage tee colours at J Crew - but I can't track a discount code down. I'm best to wait aren't I?

Annianni Wed 24-Jul-13 14:17:32

They're year 4, so 8 and 9 yr olds.
In the past there's been lots of ds's taken in (game console thing, not darling sons)

But they've got a new (stricter) head... hence the text being sent out... which everyone ignored except me.

shopafrolic Wed 24-Jul-13 14:41:25

Extra 40% off J Crew sale with STYLE40 and free delivery

noviceoftheday Wed 24-Jul-13 14:50:47

Ugh, your poor dcs Anni and QueenC. sad

I am not tempted to go on a shopping ban. I put that in category of diets ie not fun!

Topazandpearl Wed 24-Jul-13 15:08:04

I'm in QueenC! Not as brave as Amber though, but will aim for a month and see how I get on.

shopafrolic Wed 24-Jul-13 15:39:59

So I've ordered a couple of J Crew tees in the sale
grey linen
vintage cotton
£26.94 all in - free delivery. If I like them then I'll order
and this
which seem to be in my Autumn colours but are full price ATM.

My new look order arrived, it's all great , all fits, only problem is I can't wear the wedges I got with having broken toes and I bet the good weather is gone before they are healed sad

Bless you all and your messages of good luck - I'm going on a spending ban, not to war smile

carrie74 Wed 24-Jul-13 16:25:04

Hello again

A short lull in work so I've had time to construct a proper (based on last pages) post, hurrah!!

Marsha thank you so much for the Outnet heads up, unfortunately I started looking and then it all crashed on me. By that time I'd convinced myself I don't really need anything anyway [gasp], so have avoided.

Foxy, love the sound of your SR outfit, but silk in this heat - yikes (would be terrified of sun cream ruining it, or sweat, or DC's ice creams, get the picture grin). Lovely to have a compliment too, I have to say, I've been getting lots too of late, from quite a variety of sources, it's such an ego boost grin. I'm wearing a dress today which I'd consigned to the give away pile as I didn't feel it was very me, but when I wore it last week, I was stopped 5 times on the SR. 5 times! And then twice today (and I've only seen 3 people [rofl]). Tricky isn't it, sometimes you just don't feel "you" in something, yet everyone else seems to think it's amazing...

Foxy as for the Whistles dress, I like the shape, but worried about the material and the dry clean only tab, especially when in India (sun cream, sweat, ice creams etc...)

Shop nice work on escaping TK Maxx. I'm finding myself doing this more and more now, especially when I've been buying more stuff online (chiefly M&E) - the things in store just wind me up - bad fabrics, over-priced etc.

Anni, your poor DS. My two have gone into "fun school" (holiday club) this morning with their Ipod Touches, and I'm v nervous they'll be coming home empty-handed. I'd much rather they'd taken in our battered Monopoly. My DS adores his one (it's a Cars version, much shorter than the traditional, but still tedious after the 1000th go).

Not much to report purchase wise here: some Gap boyf shorts (been wearing loads) , Havs (likewise), bargainous maxi from M&E archive, and these in black and white.

Seem to have sufficient summer stocks now. Haven't bought the children anything (except next year's uniforms grin), so feel a bit bad about that, but they did have some new stuff over Easter when in US not as much as me.

Don't know if I mentioned H broke his leg 4 weeks ago? It's been a total PITA, tied in with problems with our car (currently in garage AGAIN), super busy commitments with school PTA (I'm treasurer and we had 2 massive events in June and July), and the decision to start looking around for a new job (applied for a good'un last week, closing date Friday for interviews on Wednesday, fingers crossed smile). We go off on holiday a week on Saturday - 2 weeks in the Dordogne, and H has his cast off the Wednesday before (hurrah). Hopefully, we can catch our breath then...

Back soon. x

McNally Wed 24-Jul-13 16:51:39

Glad Outnet order was (mainly) successful Marsha. My sweater due for delivery today too. Hoping the nanny was in at the right time though not very urgent as def not cashmere sweater weather (except in my office where I'm wrapped in a scarf as protection from the air con).

Your poor DS Anni. Hope he's ok now. Things like that make me dread DD going to school (a while off yet!).

Your poor DH Carrie. Glad you've got a holiday looming. All sounds exhausting!

noviceoftheday Wed 24-Jul-13 17:13:29

Amber, I am really looking forward to reading all about the bags. As you know right up my street grin I have been thinking either Prada or Miu Miu so will see of you change my mind! I had already considered the Givenchy one but decided not for me.

foxysocks Wed 24-Jul-13 17:31:13

I love that givenchy, but I think I want a balenciaga <dream>

Childfree morning carrie! Would never wear otherwise and was in shorts and vest by afternoon SR due to suncream. Now in bikini soaking last of rays... bliss

The dress isn't silk is it? Thought cotton/cupro. Need to try on then will just know.

Outnet try on tonight after shower for me. cashmere looks Amazing McNally but the shorts maybe too big, I sized up after the all saints leopard knickers disaster

santamarianovella Wed 24-Jul-13 17:35:53

amber i bet it feels like it grin, the longest ban i had was almost three months, and i think it back fired.

novice prada bags are awesome, one of our neighbors owns a greyish/taupe colored one,BEAUTIFUL!, im trying to safe for a bag too,and prada is def on my list,so is the sofial coppola LV!

LinusDKD Wed 24-Jul-13 18:29:46

Poor ds anni! I love playing Monopoly!

And poor queenc! Picking a fight in front of children, that's just bad manners.

Prada bags are nice, DM has one she bought 20 years ago on the Via dei Condotti and it still looks great.

But like santa I am still lusting after the LV Sofia Coppola and the Tom Ford Jennifer. Oh and a Bottega Veneta and a 2.55 bien sûr.

carrie hope you have a good holiday after such a stressful time with DH's injury.

shop really nice tees!

I chose to have my Outnet parcel deliverd at DP's house but so far it hasn't arrived yet. But as someone said, it's not really cashmere weather at the moment.

[[ this] arrived today. Surprisingly (for £27) nice. Great straight fit, fitted but not clingy, cotton not viscose that hugs everything, looks great with tan belt and gold Gigis....and my stone biker jacket. Thrilled.

QueenC poor you. Recently I've seen a few mothers behaving like my DD's 12/13 yr old friends. Nasty, in a few years' time they'll wonder why their own kids are so mean.
shop love the SE white sandals. Well done in resisting the bargains in TK Maxx and damm the delivery miss.
Anni bloody iPads/ electronics. If the head specified not electronics why don't you mention it next year. Personally I love Monopoly ( ESP when I'm a cheating banker!)
amber but it is like war!
Carrie good luck with job interviews.

Right I have 4 13 yr old girls for a sleep over.....wonder if I'll get any sleep.
Have also buggered my knee at the gym....knew exercise was bad for you grin
Will need wine to deal with both issues.

Annianni Wed 24-Jul-13 19:16:04

Thanks for all the good wishes.
He had a cry and a cuddle and cheered up after an hour playing on his Nexus.

I've never let him take things like that to school.
I've seen the boys kicking each others bags in the playground and I'm not prepared to risk it.

Might mention something after the holidays.

I've said he can help me start painting later in the attic, so he's pleased with that.

Just ordered Shop's J crew linen tee to try in the grey, along with a grey bikini top.
There were a couple of other things I liked, but not sure on the sizing with J Crew, so I'll try the tee first.

my shopping ban's going really well

MarshaBrady Wed 24-Jul-13 19:19:17

Lol Anni grin.

Love that dress Dry.

Fab work on J Crew te Shop I wear mine loads.

MarshaBrady Wed 24-Jul-13 19:20:53

Carrie have a great holiday, good luck with job, hope your Dh is better very soon.

Much better IRL Marsha

MarshaBrady Wed 24-Jul-13 19:24:26

It's gorgeous Dry. Am tempted by the blue version. Did you get the blue one?

Just a question......
Have a golden wedding anniversary party coming up. The invitation says "casual" dress. There's a BBQ in the evening. Obviously my "casual" is different to the hosts' you think my new maxi +Gigis etc would be too casual for the twin set crew?

libertychick Wed 24-Jul-13 19:26:49

Haven't had time to read yet today - will catch up later - just wanted to show the most perfect T-Shirts I got in Cos today - I got both navy and grey, silk jersey, lovely fit and feel.

Yes marsha I got the blue. Great with tan, also looks good with my denim jacket....want me to try to send you a photo on a pm?

MarshaBrady Wed 24-Jul-13 19:30:54

That's lovely of you Dry! Only if you can be bothered grin. Am sure it looks gorgeous on you btw.

Liberty love that Cos t, looks like a perfect one.

foxysocks Wed 24-Jul-13 19:35:05

i LOVE that dry. also tempted!

just went on outnet to try and request RMA for shorts, button not there?!?! am now panicking after comment earlier re; no returns, eeek, they weren't even clearance, marsha did you request yours yet?!

MarshaBrady Wed 24-Jul-13 19:37:52

I know I barely do maxi dresses but it is so lovely.

Foxy oh no really! I know you can ring them any time, they should do a return. I haven't done mine yet, but had a quick look and can see the create a return/exchange button. Is that missing from your shorts?

foxysocks Wed 24-Jul-13 19:39:29

yep button not there for shorts or jumper. weird. will email them now.

Marsha I'm the same, maxis are never right.....either too long, too clingy, too low cut (must have high boobs!) or just meh.....this one is perfect for me.

shopafrolic Wed 24-Jul-13 21:07:58

Dry I think the outfit sounds great. It's a lovely dress.
Waves to Carrie and sends get well sympathy to you and your poor DH, I love the Dordogne - have a wonderful holiday.
I've had a horrific evening with DS. We're having toenail traumas. Won't go into details but if any of you have a child who hates having their toenails cut can you PM me? I'm going mental.
And then had one of those chats with DH where he tells me my job is easy compared to his! Grrrrrr.
Carrie I think I'll stop visiting TK Maxx now - I've been sucked in too many times now buying 'bargains' that I don't need. I'm trying to be a better shopper now.
And YY to receiving more compliments since I've been on this thread so flowers to you all.

LinusDKD Wed 24-Jul-13 21:11:45

I still love that dress dry and I am tempted but I'm afraid it won't suit me. smile at high boobs.

I like the sound of your 'casual' outfit!

Lovely tees liberty!

QueenCadbury Wed 24-Jul-13 21:13:25

Lovely tees and dresses everyone. dry your outfit sounds perfect for a casual do.

anni I would say something to the head because the kids need to know that if he says no electronics that he means it. It won't help your ds now but it'll hopefully stop some other poor bugger being upset next year.

Off to bed soon. It may be the school hols tomorrow but the cat has to be at the vets at 8 for her op (she's having the cat equivalent of a mastectomy).

Annianni Wed 24-Jul-13 21:34:43

Shop, Ds2 always has his toenails cut when he's asleep. Afternoon nap is a good time.

Poor pussy QueenC, hope she's ok.

Hope you have a nice holiday Carrie.

Any news on your return Foxy?

We now have a lovely matt black bare brick chimney breast in ds2's new attic room.
We're going for an industrial look with graffiti grin

No fucking comment on that baby's name...

carrie74 Wed 24-Jul-13 21:36:38

Liberty gorgeous Ts, noticed them on Pin earlier.

Dry outfit sounds perfect to me smile.

shop we've always had to go with distraction (TV mainly), but he's still v apprehensive whenever the nail clippers come out at 6 (and then Lets out a big sigh when it's done and says"that wasn't so bad, Mummy").

Annianni Wed 24-Jul-13 21:37:04

I might send an email QueenC [wuss emotion]
He does seem to be clamping down on a lot of things, which is good... see what happens next time.

Annianni Wed 24-Jul-13 21:38:17

Sorry... Ds1's new room, not Ds2...

I love the name.....

Watching Bear Grills with DS (we have escaped the hysteria and screaming generated by 4 13 yr olds in family room).... That man is mad and quite disgusting!!!!!

shopafrolic Wed 24-Jul-13 21:42:11

DS toenails grown back down into his toes so I can't get clippers under them easily, without running my nail under there first. The nails are thickening and look dirty all the time, Had to wrestle him to the floor tonight, and then clipped his skin by accident. Feel like a rotten mother.

Annianni Wed 24-Jul-13 21:46:48

I can't use clippers, I have 2 pairs of boots' baby scissors, one kept upstairs, one kept in the kitchen so i'm always prepared.

Gosh shop that's a toughie......does bribery work or could you try a nail file ( I know that sounds nuts but it might work?)

Annianni Wed 24-Jul-13 21:49:13

I did snip his ear once, chopping bits off his hair a few months ago.
I felt terrible and there was loads of blood, but he was fine after a cuddle... so don't feel too bad grin

MrsRadicchio Wed 24-Jul-13 21:53:09

Ugh nail cutting for toddlers is really difficult. DH does it for the DC and also uses brute force, though DS1 seems to be getting more accepting of it now. Sounds tough Shop but you would be a bad mother if you didn't cut them flowers

I will join you in a shopping ban QueenC. It is a necessity as my mat leave money has stopped. I want to do a project 333 type capsule wardrobe for autumn to see if I have any gaps. I may get some stuff in the right colours if I need to as well but that won't be for a while. I really hope I am a winter - that will mean a minimal wardrobe overhaul.

Drat, DS2 is awake, bye all!

QueenCadbury Wed 24-Jul-13 21:55:28

Oh anni I meant email. I'd never be brave enough to say it face to face to him!

shop luckily mine don't seem to mind nail cutting but have to do it regularly otherwise they start to curl over and then they're really tricky to cut. I use nail scissors too. And yes, I've cut them a few times so don't feel bad. I often pretend to cut my own at the same time so that they think it's fun to copy.

libertychick Wed 24-Jul-13 21:56:13

You are not a horrible mother Shop - kids toenails are a nightmare. With DD we do it in the morning (ie when she's in a good mood) She sits on DH's lap and he cuts with a nail scissors while I hold her foot still if necessary and distract her with singing. Then we clap and cheer and tell her how great she is to let us do it smile. We also do a very small v in the middle of the nail (if possible) to prevent ingrowing.

shopafrolic Wed 24-Jul-13 22:05:20

Thanks all. Sorry, wanted to keep this to fashion chat. Really appreciate your tips. Will take a deep breath and try with bribery another day.

libertychick Wed 24-Jul-13 22:07:53

Good to hear Outnet order worked out Marsha. I am definitely going to dye the I&I silk top! Just need to decide on a colour.

Sounds like you really need that holiday Carrie! Nice to have you back.

Foxy I have my eye on that Whistles dress too - also worried about the material. You sound like the glam queen of your local SR!!

QueenC I am shock that a mother would be argumentative towards your DD - thank goodness your DD will be in a different year group now.

I am ridiculously pleased with the Cos T's! Have just had a try on session and they work with so many things - will definitely get the CPW. I have been looking for navy and grey T's for ages.

I am not going to do a shopping ban - never works for me. Trying instead to spend less and aim to buy things that fill wardrobe gaps.

libertychick Wed 24-Jul-13 22:08:45

We can always do the occasional diversion Shop!

InMyShreddies Wed 24-Jul-13 22:11:11

Hello lovelies. Quick question - if I order from J Crew sale, it has free delivery and returns right - can I return? It seems to be final, but UK law would suggest I can return within 7 days? Any knowledge gratefully received thanks

shopafrolic Wed 24-Jul-13 22:20:51

Message them Inmyshreddies - they are super helpful and respond v quickly.

Annianni Wed 24-Jul-13 22:22:24

I think MrsCB has checked with j crew in the past, and we can return from the uk.

MarshaBrady Wed 24-Jul-13 22:46:38

I'd message J Crew just to be certain Shreddies.

Shop can you do it whilst he's asleep? Horrible feeling though, I really sympathise.

Ds2 wants to do his own these days, he loves copying everything we do.

Hi everyone, some great bargains bagged on the Outnet, well done! Yours are particularly lovely Marsha. I didn't realise the sale had started til I came on here yesterday lunchtime.

Shop sympathies on the nail cutting, it's always a battle here too. I'll also never forget cutting ds1's nails with clippers when he was a few months old and nicking his finger...the guilt was horrendous!

I am in mourning...I took off and left my gold Ash sandals next to a lounger outside our back door a couple of nights ago and a fox stole one while I was putting DC's to bed shock! It's nowhere in our garden so can only assume it is lying, chewed and lonely, in one of our neighbour's sad. And of course they and gigi's everywhere have been reduced and are now sold out sad.

I picked up this dress in the sale today, but am a little unsure about you think it is too young/girly for a 40 year old (with breasts, unlike the modelwink)?

DD finally finished school yesterday, it was so nice this morning not to have to do the usual routine smile. Tomorrow the sorting and packing for heading out of Lomdon this weekend for the summer starts....

InMyShreddies Thu 25-Jul-13 00:09:13

Thanks folks - have messaged J Crew, fingers crossed. Bargain tees and enamel bangles hopefully on way...

Annianni Thu 25-Jul-13 08:14:26

Oh no Sleep, your poor shoe!

My Shopbop order is out for delivery, which is amazing grin

Love that Cos tee Liberty.

QueenCadbury Thu 25-Jul-13 08:21:20

sleep the cheek of that fox! I like the dress but as you say it could potentially look young. Why don't you post a picture of you in it?

foxysocks Thu 25-Jul-13 08:35:23

yes because j crew delivering to UK the final sale thing doesn't apply shreddies

rag and bone shorts going back, love them but too big and a bit too expensive to justify exchanging for a size down.

am looking at j crew chino shorts - does anyone have them?

sleep i love that - post a pic!

Annianni Thu 25-Jul-13 08:48:38

Foxy, have you sent things back to J Crew?

Does anyone know if it's expensive?

libertychick Thu 25-Jul-13 08:48:59

It looks a bit low cut sleep - I don't think it's too young, just potentially 'boobilicious'! Also depends on where you plan to wear it - I'd go for it on hols, beach etc but possibly not to the local playgroup. That said I am queen conservative and don't really do cleavage.

Bloody fox!!!sleep still a great excuse to buy a new pair "a fox ate my shoe" confused
I like the dress, with your figure and styled with flat sandals whispers Gigis could be a lovely holiday look.

Girls eventually shut up at 3.30am! Would love to wake the up banging loudly on a saucepan psycho mother from hell but I'm too nice. Luckily, unlike you with little ones, I'll be having a siesta later, before pimms in the garden with my friend this p.m

libertychick Thu 25-Jul-13 08:52:59

Love my outfit today - white M&S slim cut chinos, grey Cos silk T, black Zara blazer, black ballet pumps, layered black ribbon with silver beads necklace, this braclet, silver watch.

Ok - late for a meeting - story of my life - chat later.....

foxysocks Thu 25-Jul-13 08:58:52

yes I have anni - same deal as matches and NaP, organise DHL pick up and it's free

waaah at fox, sleep! hope you track down another pair, i love those ash sandals.

Annianni Thu 25-Jul-13 09:02:37

I looked at the international returns bit and it said we had to pay shipping costs... I'd have ordered alsorts if I'd known it was free grin

hmm seems this fox has an evil sense of humour, we have come down this morning to find somebody else's not very stylish sandal outside our back door. It is badly mauled sad.

Will post a pic of me in the dress later this morning when I can wrench Ds1 away from minecraft. Will probably be lunchtime, after kickboxing.

foxysocks Thu 25-Jul-13 09:16:06

strange anni - my j crew page always says 'free shipping and free returns' in the top left hand corner of the page. i def haven't paid to return/exchange before.

LinusDKD Thu 25-Jul-13 09:23:29

Poor shop I know exactly how you feel! When DS was tiny I also accidentally drew blood when I cut his fingernails.

Now that he's older I really have to time cutting his nails well and I still use baby scissors. His fingernails he's ok-ish with but the toenails is still a bit of a struggle.

I just trim them once a week when he's in a good mood and distracted by watching tv or clips on youtube.

Cutting his hair is another matter, you would think we were trying to strangle him, he becomes absolutely hysterical. Tv, iPad, chocolate, crisps, singing etc don't make any difference

Any toddler haircutting tips welcome!

sleep what a naughty fox but at least he has excellent taste. wink

I am currently sitting in the airport lounge waiting for our first flight and I still have a butterflies in my tummy about leaving the DC with DP.

But I am looking forward to some grown-up time with DH and some me-time as well. It's been a while...

Oh, my travel outfit is the M&E navy maxi dress (thanks dry), navy Tods ballerina flats, Boden crochet jacket, teal Tods bag and some bling.

carrie74 Thu 25-Jul-13 09:37:08

Ooh, sleep what an evil fox. Your poor sandals [bawl]. I think if the dress suits you, go for it! Looks a bit short for my thighs, but current personal training sessions hopefully whittling them away [wishful thinking].

Liberty loving the sound of your outfit today, sounds effortlessly cool and chic. I'm in BR navy cigarette pants and Massimo Dutti silk shirt with cuffs rolled up, and neon orange statement necklace (H&M). Meant to wear orange ballets, but wasn't sure if they'd clash horribly with necklace and then strode out of the house wearing my white Birkies, so oops. Lesbian shoes it is grin.

carrie74 Thu 25-Jul-13 09:39:18

Linus have an amazing time. Our weekend in Lisbon was amazing, so fantastic to properly unwind, not have one ear open at all times, have a drink and no hangover because you can LIE IN! And DC will have a blast with your parents. Where are you off to again? Outfit sounds perfect, very chic.

Linus have an amazing time! DS hates haircutting too but a combination of Thomas on the TV and a Farmyard Make A Scene game on the iPad usually gets us through! It helps that a hairdresser friend does it at our house too.
DS let me cut his fingernails this morning but when I asked if we could try toes again he said NO so I left it. I'm going to get him checked out as I took another look this morning and some of the nails are think and curve down back into the toe. Can't be right......
Liberty outfit sounds just perfect
Sleep your poor shoes! And a fetish fox. I'm never moving to your area <in my dreams> there's more terrorist wildlife than in my area! Have you checked the Dressing Room website for replacements as they do Ash sandals...... not sure which ones you've lost? The dress is really pretty but I'd be worried about much cleavage would be on show.
I'm off out for dinner in Chiswick tonight with a friend. Am thinking Paige Jimmy's, cream silk shirt and new Whistles Chi Chi sandals, AH Gracie bag? Too dull?
