I swear she just doesn't age. I want to be her! How is she 44

Helena christensen

noddyholder Fri 12-Jul-13 17:43:54

I agree she is my ultimate crush! She is stunning and her body really defies gravity and anything else! She is just a one off.

stooshe Fri 12-Jul-13 17:46:31

I've always liked her. As Michael Hutchence said "she's got skin like Egyptian cotton".

she is simply stunning

20wkbaby Fri 12-Jul-13 18:04:26

Those pictures are a bit tacky, though she is undeniably gorgeous. Some of them just look like bad 'reader's wives' style pics.

MarshaBrady Fri 12-Jul-13 18:04:41

Amazing eyes. Very beautiful indeed.

noddyholder Fri 12-Jul-13 18:21:37

I like the pictures

Ruffello Fri 12-Jul-13 18:23:55

Has she ever had kids?

noddyholder Fri 12-Jul-13 18:24:13

yes she has a boy

Lioninthesun Fri 12-Jul-13 18:24:17

Sorry I had to share - clicked on your link and DD who is watching INTNG just turned around and went 'YUCK' X5 and pointed. It may be the swan or it may be the pose, but my nearly 2yo doesn't think much of her grin

Ruffello Fri 12-Jul-13 18:29:02

Wow envy

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow Fri 12-Jul-13 18:41:00

Oh please! she's been airbrushed. Can't believe y'all actually think she really looks like that.

ihatethecold Fri 12-Jul-13 18:41:28

FFS couldn't you of said its a daily fail link.

I bloody well hate that newspaperangry

PurpleGirly Fri 12-Jul-13 18:45:45

I am the same age and look nothing like this!!

It is her job to look toned and beautiful. I have to work really hard to be the best at my job I can possibly be, which means I don't have lots of time to work on me like this! I can also not afford best products, personal trainers etc.

She is very beautiful but will have to work at it. Also my snaps don't get airbrushed so it is just the real me.

I don't want to sound bitter or bitchy but we are all different and have different things to work at in life.

FrancesFarmer Fri 12-Jul-13 18:46:36

No mystery - she is plastered in make-up, strategically posed and probably photoshopped on top of that. I think it's quite sad that she's still pandering to the male gaze in her 40s - I'm sure it makes her lots of money but it's not something I'd aspire to.

amothersplaceisinthewrong Fri 12-Jul-13 18:47:25

Bit of airbrushing there, surely

WizardofOs Fri 12-Jul-13 18:47:43

She is beautiful but lets not forget those are photo shopped and she has tons of make-up on.

www.peoplestylewatch.com/people/stylewatch/gallery/0,,20202030_20202616_20500059,00.html#20500059

Still lovely but looking more her age.

NeverBeenToMe Fri 12-Jul-13 18:51:55

Tacky photos!

Wait til she hits menopause ......

Bitter? Me?!

dirtyface Fri 12-Jul-13 18:53:16

oh god i saw those pics too

WinkyWinkola Fri 12-Jul-13 18:56:10

She is stunning.

The pix are tacky though. Why has she done those? Unless they are post post post modern or something wink.

AvonCallingBarksdale Fri 12-Jul-13 18:56:56

WizardofOs, definitely more true to life but still looking fabulous!

ninah Fri 12-Jul-13 19:00:19

she is great but the stylist needs shooting! what's with the swans? is she house sitting for aunty beryl?

ninah Fri 12-Jul-13 19:02:26

come on, you have to admit she has amazing tits, you could airbrush mine but you'd have to do complete photoshop to get them that perky

Lizzylou Fri 12-Jul-13 19:03:22

She was always my favourite Supermodel growing up.
She looks amazing envy

Lizzylou Fri 12-Jul-13 19:04:08

Ninah you would have to point the canera at my knees to see my tits unsupported angry

cannotfuckingbelievethis Fri 12-Jul-13 19:13:34

Pah....she's got f*ck all on me....

SunnyUpNorth Fri 12-Jul-13 19:57:01

Ninah....I read the blurb underneath, it was shot in her apartment and she styled it all!!

SofaCanary Fri 12-Jul-13 20:36:37

She got lucky and won the genetic lottery, no one can expect to compete with that.

cheerfulweather Fri 12-Jul-13 23:04:32

She looks wonderful for nearly mid forties, and looks closer to 35 than 45. Though I do think some airbrushing has been going on, especially on her face.

celticclan Fri 12-Jul-13 23:19:56

I think she is desperate.

Self esteem issues.

lurkingaround Fri 12-Jul-13 23:22:07

She looks fantastic. However I agree with cheerful, definitely well airbrushed. She's 44, has had one child, and while I know she hit the genetic jackpot, seriously, she has to have a lump or bump or thread vein somewhere. That is not a 44 year old body, that is a 22 year old body.

Keztrel Sat 13-Jul-13 00:02:14

She's beautiful for sure but so much bloody airbrushing, ffs. Disagree that her body's that perfect, she has no waist <nitpicking>

Keztrel Sat 13-Jul-13 00:03:40

Even 22 year olds don't have such glowing, smooth, blemish free skin all over. It's ridiculous.

Newcupboards Sat 13-Jul-13 07:24:26

What a depressing set of pics. A rich woman demeaning herself posing for pornographic photos.

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 07:27:50

Have seen her up close although she had a dress on and she s like that

Newcupboards Sat 13-Jul-13 08:20:05

Was she lying on a kitchen shelf? As you do ...

MrsWolowitz Sat 13-Jul-13 08:26:05

She is beautiful but I couldn't help thinking of Blue Steel

YoniTime Sat 13-Jul-13 08:47:52

Ew, why did you trick us into clicking on a gross daily fail pinup-photo link?
I thought it was going to be fashion photos of her.

TSSDNCOP Sat 13-Jul-13 09:02:34

Man, she's exactly the same age as me and has exactly the same number of children.

Later I am going to lay on the kitchen work top and see if DH can take some photos of me. If I lift my arms right up, I reckon I could get my boobs to waist height too grin

NoelHeadbands Sat 13-Jul-13 09:13:44

My mum had a white swan like that. It was a plant pot.

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 09:15:36

I like the butterfly knickers

ExcuseTypos Sat 13-Jul-13 09:17:12

Tacky photos. She looks desperate to do a shoot like that.

She is beautiful but those shots are very airbrushed.

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 09:18:17

That is a very definite 'style' of shot but I don't think she is desperate at all. She doesn't look like she has much to prove.

Lighthousekeeping Sat 13-Jul-13 09:20:26

I personally don't think you can beat the original bunch of supermodels. I loved Christy Turlington. I couldn't tell you the name of one "supermodel" these days. They just don't grab my attention.

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 09:21:53

Christy T was my fave too. Current models much skinnier and less glam I loved the 80s and 90s!

Lighthousekeeping Sat 13-Jul-13 09:22:01
TheMoonOnAStick Sat 13-Jul-13 09:22:50

Undeniably gorgeous.

Is that where she lives though? It looks like a junk shop or a garage that needs clearing out.

whats4teamum Sat 13-Jul-13 09:24:28

I once served her and Michael hutchence in a shop I worked in. Her skin was awful. Spotty covered in heavy make up. However michaels arse was a joy to behold.

AnyFucker Sat 13-Jul-13 09:25:03

She is absolutely beautiful (have always thought so) but disappointed with the "desperate look-at-me before it all goes south" nature of this shoot

She is exceptionally gorgeous in the face that I could not match, but tbh, there are lots of women in their 40's who could match the body with the same amount of styling, make up, lighting and air brushing.

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 09:25:30

she is still beautiful lighthouse. I thought they were so healthy looking shiny hair and not over made up

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 09:26:05

whats4tea grin Michael

BasilBabyEater Sat 13-Jul-13 09:36:39

But surely she's had plastic surgery?

Don't all women in the public eye who are there primarily for their appearance (models, actresses, vague unspecified famous types) have their bodies mutilated a bit as they go through life, unless they specifically tell you they haven't?

I thought it was just standard now, that famous rich women have to have "work" done, whether they want to or not - if they don't, they don't get that part/ photo-shoot etc.?

I realise I could be being cynical, but I can't help feeling more and more that we're being invited to admire plastic surgeon's handiwork rather than women's bodies. Apologies to Helena Christiansen if that's not the case. (And I'm ever so slightly dubious about admiring women's bodies -where are the pictures of Brad Pitt pouting at me with a strategically placed kitschy ornament?)

Whilst I agree , what is up with Taft photoshoot?? So tacky ..

FaddyPeony Sat 13-Jul-13 15:00:20

Basil,I think you're right.unless they specifically state that they are making a stand against it, there will probably be work done. That's also true for male celebs now though I reckon.

RonaldMcDonald Sat 13-Jul-13 15:04:34

She is lovely but not IMO as lovely or interesting as the late great Paula Yates ( weird that I felt the need to say that as inappropriate and not a competition ) soz

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 15:12:36

I loved Paula she really was an interesting and beautiful woman sad

Treague Sat 13-Jul-13 15:13:48

lol at that 'article'
What is it for?!

She's gorgeous. But those photographs are vile - really cheap and tacky. I wonder why on earth she felt the need to do them tbh. I thought she had more class.

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 15:22:49

I think they are supposed to be like that ironic like a bit readers wives meets vintage

ProjectGainsborough Sat 13-Jul-13 16:16:20

I don't think they're tacky. She looks beautiful and she was hardly pressganged into it.

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 16:17:20

I don't think so either. I really like them and love the apartment and lizard! My office is like that full of 'stuff' sadly I am nothing like her so won't be draping myself around any time soon

So a woman choosing to drape herself around in soft-porn cliche style poses makes it a feminist statement, rather than tacky? Right.

bornagaindomesticgoddess Sat 13-Jul-13 16:30:23

She's always looked to me like she needs a good wash.

tribpot Sat 13-Jul-13 16:33:06

Agreed - Helena: gorge as ever. Photos: hideous. The one where's she's showing her arse is reminiscent of that photo one MNer complained to her local car dealership for displaying in their window.

If Helena wants to float about being naked that's up to her, but given she's a photographer I'd expect her to have a more artistic eye. I'm not sure I think the readers' wives concept is one that needs parodying in this way.

LifeofPo Sat 13-Jul-13 16:36:25

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 16:37:05

Who said it was a feminist statement? You would have to ask her about that but I like it and I consider myself a feminist in that I suit myself in life and don't feel held back by my gender in any way.

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 16:37:25

That mag is like that

I actually think that fully naked, rather than semi-clad in horrible underwear would be less unpleasant and more artistic. I'm astonished that she chose to style herself in that way.

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 16:52:33

I'm not its quite common in those mags. Have seen them parody worse Whether its right or not is another thread. It is like Terry Richardson you either like or are offended and hate it.

Terry Richardson?

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 16:58:32

Photographer who shoots this sort of thing a lot

Just had a quick google. I'm not offended by it as such, but I don't like it.

cocolepew Sat 13-Jul-13 17:07:09

I like her big pants.
She does look lovely but touched up in some way IYSWIM?

I loved Paula Yates, she was the first cleb death that really upset me.

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 17:11:00

I love the pants too.

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 17:13:06

It is interesting actually I love all that and not sure why. I love agent provocateur too and I know some women hate it and I consider myself feminist but I love it. Confused.

missmartha Sat 13-Jul-13 17:29:30

Of course she has lovely features, but those pis are rough.

Who said reader's wives? Spot on.

MasterOfTheYoniverse Sat 13-Jul-13 17:50:29

she is stunning!

But that takes a lot of cocaine & photoshop to achieve no? Allegedly?
Stunning nonetheless.

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 17:51:12

Cocaine? Really?

MasterOfTheYoniverse Sat 13-Jul-13 17:55:26

oh yeah really?
seriously? what do you think they are on?

SoupDragon Sat 13-Jul-13 17:59:47

Why are those pictures OK and glamour modelling is not?

They are tacky and sleazy.

PiratePanda Sat 13-Jul-13 18:00:07

Also, I'm not sure she really is only 44; having grown up in the supermodel era, I'm sure she's more than 5 years older than me.

MasterOfTheYoniverse Sat 13-Jul-13 18:00:13

bah! just wikied! half Peruvian! even more exotic! we stand no chance!

She is so gorgeous.

MasterOfTheYoniverse Sat 13-Jul-13 18:02:56

wiki claims she is a self proclaimed cheese addict. Right, just like the rest of us.

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 18:03:32

I think most of that genre is sleazy and tacky it seems to be fashion in the last 15 or so years since the Kate Moss junkie look pics etc. It is no different to glamour modelling in essence but is packaged as art and they cross their fingers no one challenges it.

YoniTime Sat 13-Jul-13 18:03:50

Oh noddy I thought you meant you absolutely loved those photos, and I just couldn't get my head around why someone (especially a mum on mumsnet) would love them, as they're so far from my taste as it gets. I'm quite sane though, thanks!

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 18:05:24

You seem to be confused though about sexuality. Very insulting.

YoniTime Sat 13-Jul-13 18:07:06

Well, you're the one who said I sounded like a lunatic, which is very insulting...I don't think lesbian is an insult, however, if you like old sleazy porno reader's wives stuff I'm going to judge wink

YoniTime Sat 13-Jul-13 18:08:09

All this because I was all ???? at people liking the pics, people posting them on this board, well, them being news....

MasterOfTheYoniverse Sat 13-Jul-13 18:08:23

Noddy, just ignore them.
am sure she is a bit older than 44. Gorgeous nonetheless.

SaltySeaBird Sat 13-Jul-13 18:09:49

She has a good figure for her age, no doubting that, but as others have said those pictures are photo-shopped. A lot.

I've done (paid) airbrushing touch up work before. I could probably make most of you look like that given a good enough basic shot and some time.

MarshaBrady Sat 13-Jul-13 18:13:55

Even 20 year olds get airbrushed so it's kind of a given these days.

I didn't realise she was half Peruvian. Danish/Peruvian no wonder she looks great.

MasterOfTheYoniverse Sat 13-Jul-13 18:17:57

salty? serious, want to start a business wink
can you erase my elevens? DD thinks I look a bit angry ….which is a good cue to go get botoxed.

DeathByTray Sat 13-Jul-13 18:25:59

Salty you up for a challenge then?

I shaved my legs today for the first time this year so that should help.
grin

noddyholder Sat 13-Jul-13 18:32:26

Her mixed heritage has been a gift in the skin dept!

Bakingnovice Sat 13-Jul-13 18:34:58

Wizard thanks for posting the untouched photo. She looks less sleazy in that photo. She's beautiful but I'm sorry the photos are sleazy and slightly degrading.

ProjectGainsborough Sat 13-Jul-13 18:42:49

Don't get the fuss. I find page three puerile and reductive, but quite like these.

She obviously chose to do them, she's not desperate for the fame or money. They are nicely shot, she looks amazing and there is a touch of the unexpected in them (both in the choice to do them and the fanjo-swans).

SoupDragon Sat 13-Jul-13 18:45:34

It is no different to glamour modelling in essence but is packaged as art and they cross their fingers no one challenges it

Well, given the comments from some on this thread, they certainly seem to have spun the "art" lie well.

They are tacky glamour shots, nothing else.

ProjectGainsborough Sat 13-Jul-13 19:02:16

Oh, it's really irritating that this is the one night of the year that I have to go out, because I'm really interested in this debate.

I would argue that they are totally different to glamour shots - hard to define why - perhaps because the audience is different? I can't say that they aren't titillating (horrid word) though. But what, in this context, is wrong with that? Everyone has to get their rocks off to something...

Lighthousekeeping Sat 13-Jul-13 19:12:23

I'm just annoyed that someone on here labelled her a coke head. That's not nice.

SofaCanary Sat 13-Jul-13 21:02:57

Well quite, she was more of an opium kinda girl. Allegedly.

Onetwo34 Sat 13-Jul-13 21:16:27

Those pictures are awful! Great body though.

kerstina Sun 14-Jul-13 08:29:36

She was not my favourite supermodel Christi Turlington was. Have to say she looks amazing. She has the bone structure and colouring that do not diminish. Some models suit youth best and don't seem to age quite so well am thinking of Kate Moss.

auldspinster Sun 14-Jul-13 11:10:32

Don't get the fuss about the pix, they're bread and butter of edgy style mags for 20 years or more. She looks amazing as she always has and if I had a body like that I'd get it out at any opportunity.

This is how she looks before being airbrushed, still gorgeous though.

Keztrel Mon 15-Jul-13 10:08:46

I think in those shopping photos she looks like a perfectly normal, attractive 44 yr old. Its the styling, lighting, make up and air brushing that makes her look like a goddess.

Newcupboards Mon 15-Jul-13 19:22:53

the dress is hideous. And her son is called Mingus Reedus? grin

daimbardiva Tue 16-Jul-13 09:55:31

She is gorgeous, undeniably, but in the shopping photos I'm not sure I'd have recognised her if I passed her in the street. I see plenty of 40 year olds looking like that. Agree that the photos are tacky - she looks amazing, but I'm bemused by the styling, particularly as she chose it herself.

daimbardiva Tue 16-Jul-13 09:56:53

Also had to laugh at the line in the non-article "She clearly had bought just enough to carry comfortably in white carrier bags" WTF?! Why not just say " Here is a photo of HC shopping" and leave it at that?

cheerfulweather Tue 16-Jul-13 11:05:55

Ah she looks much closer to her actual age there, but still looks well for all that. I really don't like the pictures with the airbrushing.

Eliza22 Tue 16-Jul-13 12:45:50

Mingus? Aww, poor thing.

I'm often mistaken for HC. When I've been airbrushed. When I'm not airbrushed I'm 5 ft 6, a 14+ with wrinkles and sticky-up hair.

Newcupboards Tue 16-Jul-13 15:44:08

daimbardiva -I believe it was an example of the incisive journalism the Daily Mail is so well-respected for wink
