QueenCadbury Thu 04-Jul-13 17:20:12

dec I really like that new look one, shame it's out of stock but will look on Saturday. That price would be ideal as I'm really not sure how often I'd wear it. It's one of those things that looks great on pin and then may not transfer to real life.

shop please make belts then I can get the colours I need!

I've just cooked pizza for dc tea and because I was so preoccupied with you lot I cooked it with the polystyrene base still on blush.

Must go as playing the dutiful wife later entertaining. Expect a headache tomorrow grin

My A/W list is very small

Black or red trench coat
Leather hi-top converse
Black leather handbag
Black suede ankle boots
Flannel Pjs
Black or purple leather gloves

That's all I've got so far though I'm sure I'll add more when I have a good look through what I've already got

You do realise that this A/W wish list thing is dangerous? We all think we need only a few bits......until we see everyone else's wish lists and then suddenly we need a lot more! This thread is dangerous !

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Thu 04-Jul-13 17:42:59

Shop if I find petrol blue leather leggings I can afford, you and the whole bloody world will hear me shout. It's been my A/W holy grail for about 3 years!

Lol at nutritious polystyrene pizza base!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Thu 04-Jul-13 18:04:26

paris make sure and shout good and loud! I had some olive green leather trousers about 10 years ago that I got millions of compliments on. Have moved house 5 times since then and lost the buggers, dammit. Btw, I got a really nice boyfriend T shirt with your name on it today from Asos. Can't link though because I'm on phone at DD2's swimming class at the moment. I did buy it before the ban too!

noviceoftheday Thu 04-Jul-13 18:12:04

Omg! Can't believe you have a/w wish listsshock I haven't worn my summer things yet!!! I know I said this before and then looked a fool but I don't have anything on my list!

QueenC, I am in the US 8-11 Sept if you want me to pick up anything j crew ish for you

It's only a matter of time Novice

Annianni Thu 04-Jul-13 18:50:02

Oh do we have boots grin

Dh has taken the boys to feed the ducks, so I got to have a proper try on.
They are quite high, but lovely on.
They look fab with skinnys and with my Goldign Diva's rolled up too.

I just need to lose this bloody stone i've put on lately, so I don't look like a stuffed sausage in everything

Liberty... I think you should try them... they are like Pistol's, just a bit higher in the heel
and wider at the ankle.

They seem to be a cross between Pistol's and Rag and Bone Newbury's.

They are in black too if anyone's interested?

Now, seeing as they are probably a bit high for me to traipse round in every day... I've ordered these to try.

I think they could be nice with jeans and a grey sweat for casual.
And i'm hoping they make me look like this but maybe without the blanket, and the black bra hmm

I also think these are lovely but too high for me.

Annianni Thu 04-Jul-13 18:54:45

Well done at sports day Sleep.
Mum's races scare me!

My A/W wishlist is quite small for now

I'm on an official shopping ban, until I sort my head and weight out.
And decorate ds1's room.

But then I'd like...
A dark grey cashmere sweater.
A navy scarf.
A grey or navy coat.
And some new bra's.

Still need a sports bra too, as the one I ordered the other day was too big.

Annianni Thu 04-Jul-13 18:55:35

Oh, and i'd like some nice gloves too.

Annianni Thu 04-Jul-13 18:56:44

And a new purse (will probably be my birthday pressie off dh in October)
And a long possibly chunky silver necklace.

I'll shut up now grin

shopafrolic Thu 04-Jul-13 19:06:46

grin Anni so does this mean you're keeping the Jenny's?

Annianni Thu 04-Jul-13 19:12:22

Yes blush

I will keep the Jenny's for days out shopping etc.

Grey Jonas boots for days/evenings out when I want to be a bit dressier... or for impressing dh, as they make my legs look 8ft long wink

And then the possible new suede ones for school run, park etc.

LinusDKD Thu 04-Jul-13 19:26:37

I had to get changed this afternoon because all of a sudden the sun came out, so I wore my M&E maxi dress for the first time. DH said I looked nice when he came home!

Well done Sleep! I do think sports days are a very British thing as I have never heard of them on the continent. We certainly didn't have one in my old school <imagines DM running in her Sonia Rykiel velour tracksuit>

Wow Anni, result! Your persistence paid off.

I have been thinking about A/W and my wishlist is:

. A winter coat, I like the Barbour Peninsula down coat.
. Black flat ankle boots
. Black medium heeled ankle boots
. Some Goldsigns
. Coloured skinnies: teal, cobalt, red, ...
. Maybe I might finally get something leopard print, maybe a scarf or flats.
. Splendid long sleeved tees
. A Nano in navy or a bright colour

When I was tidying up some cupboards to prepare for our new furniture I found an old cashmere Dries Van Noten vest.

It used the belong to DM (she used to buy a lot of DVN about 10 years ago) and she used to give me some things that she didn't want anymore.

I have never worn it as the colour doesn't suit me, so I was wondering if any of you would like it.

It's a lovely soft cashmere in a kind of beige/rusk colour in a size small. It does smell a bit musty as it has been stuck in a cupboard for a while and the label looks a bit worn but the vest itself looks like new.

Anyone interested?

QueenCadbury Thu 04-Jul-13 19:27:35

Just a quick catch up till our guests arrive. Dh is being all manly and trying to change a flat tyre. Bet we end up calling the AA ingrin.

Congrats on the boots anni

novice that's very sweet of you but the reason I'd love to visit j crew is to get an idea of sizing. I hate ordering online when I'm not familiar with the store.

Had better get back to doing something useful. I'm annoyed at myself as i've started on the bloody Pringles!!

QueenCadbury Thu 04-Jul-13 19:28:17

Yep, he's come back in and can't get the nuts and bolts off! Aa it is!

I'd be interested linus it sounds lovely and potentially warm which is always of interest to me as I am always cold.

foxysocks Thu 04-Jul-13 19:47:12

I have the peninsula down coat linus, it 's amazing. SO warm but not bulky, great slim fit, huge hood. I love it.

McNally Thu 04-Jul-13 19:57:12

Hooray on the boots success Anni. Glad the persistence has finally paid off. You're going to be very well shod.

Have just started thinking about A/W which I much prefer to summer dressing. First thoughts are:
- pencil skirt, prob in charcoal (could do with toning up arse a bit first though)
- black cashmere crew sweater
- straight cords, prob in a deep berry colour, now I want J Crew ones
- navy, chunky cable knit jumper
- smart dark coloured bag, along lines of Celine Luggage

LinusDKD Thu 04-Jul-13 20:02:27

Sorry, rubbish picture that really doesn't do the vest justice.
It says it's a size small, but I have just tried it on and it fits (I am a size 12 on top)

one if you are interested pm me your address and I'll send it to you.

LinusDKD Thu 04-Jul-13 20:03:55

Crap, I can't see the picture but it did show when I previewed my message.

Can you see it?

I can see it and it looks fab. It should fit as even though I'm norky, I'm smaller on my top half than my bottom half. Will Pm you in a sec with address thanks

LinusDKD Thu 04-Jul-13 20:20:03

santamarianovella Thu 04-Jul-13 20:34:57

Congrats sleep

linus we had sports day in the school I went to,but they are not like the one you get here,it's fun attending sports day here. I got a sticker last year for competing grin.

I'm still working on my list, I love this iro jacket,I like the styling here, but how else would u style it or wear it with.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Thu 04-Jul-13 20:35:10

Woohoo! Well done on the boots Anni - about bloody time!

I'm miffed that I'm still awaiting my Equipment shirt, T&J bracelet, Toothpick jeans and All Saints Dita dress. What's taking them so long?

<impatietently taps fingers>

Missoni espadrilles arrived today and, while a fab colour etc, look a bit...weird. At first I thought I'd put them on the wrong feet, but it seems they are both the same and don't have an obvious 'left' and 'right'. I still like them, so will just have to get used to them. Have also bought DD2 some Scotch R'Belle and Scotch Shrunk bits from Secret Sales in addition to a Melissa Odabash Kids kaftan in navy with pompoms. She'll be the most stylish 9yo on the beach.

shopafrolic Thu 04-Jul-13 20:39:45

Which Equipment shirt did you order Grumpy?

noviceoftheday Thu 04-Jul-13 21:06:50

Stress. I returned a whole load of stuff to Selfridges a couple of weeks ago. Including the Pucci £325 cardi (full value was £650) which arrived filthy. They haven't refunded me yet because they have sent it to a branch specialist to review and couldn't be arsed to contact me to give me an update. In the meanwhile this item has held up refunding all the other things, which is about £2k.angry really shoddy service.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Thu 04-Jul-13 21:10:05

this one shop

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Thu 04-Jul-13 21:27:43

Just had a blip from the spending ban to buy this white belt. Couldn't help it. Sorry.

shopafrolic Thu 04-Jul-13 22:05:50

Lovely Grumpy.
Novice out them on Facebook or Twitter - that'll get things moving! That's atrocious.

libertychick Thu 04-Jul-13 22:27:31

That is outrageous Novice.
grin at Grumpy's flexible ban (not that I can talk) - love the shirt - gorgeous colour.

Anni well done on the boots. I will check them out next time I am near All Saints - look a wee bit high for me.

I am so pleased with my M&S white trousers - just had a trying on session and they work with lots of different things.

Novice that's really bad

liberty did you link the white trousers ?

shopafrolic Thu 04-Jul-13 22:42:21

Can someone PM me the latest on Mignonette please? If you're around Mig then I'm thinking of you x

Think pink has slightly lst the plot today! confused

libertychick Thu 04-Jul-13 22:54:48

Dry I can't find them to link. They are M&S woman range and called slim fit chinos - these are the only chinos I can find in the 'woman' section of the website, but the ones I got are a slim fit and not as flappy around the ankle. They were a bit of a random find - hanging all by themselves on a rail with various odds and ends. I now NEED a white or nude sandal to wear with them smile

libertychick Thu 04-Jul-13 22:56:50

Dry blush I like that look - have previously pinned it - the skirt is fab.

santamarianovella Thu 04-Jul-13 23:09:46

its a nice look,i love her valentino studded shoes.

QueenCadbury Fri 05-Jul-13 06:45:09

santa I love that jacket and I love it with the grey and black. I'd also wear it with blue jeans and a white, navy or black top. I'm sure someone can come up with a more exciting combination though.

novice I would definately be making a nuisance of myself. They surely have no right to hold onto your money and should be refunding the other items.

LinusDKD Fri 05-Jul-13 07:42:48

I actually really like that outfit dry, that skirt is beautiful.

santa nice jacket, I like that the shoulders are a bit unusual.

novice that is outrageous! Complain!

Just me then! Might resurrect my Union Jack spice girl dress from the dressing up box worn for the Royal wedding of course ,with tiara

LinusDKD Fri 05-Jul-13 07:58:37

Piccies, please dry grin

Annianni Fri 05-Jul-13 08:03:58

I think we need a photo of that Dry grin

Morning all...

Novice, that's terrible. Get complaining.

I think we'll go to the zoo.
It's a lovely sunny day here finally.
I'll just pop into town first to return the Office boots.

Any news on Mig?

Liberty, how about the Sam Edelman sandals that some of the all worn outers have?
I think they're called 'trina'
I've seen them reduced in loads of places.

santamarianovella Fri 05-Jul-13 10:40:15

morning all,

thanks queen, great tips, will have to see it in RL,to see if this shade of red suits me,

dry grin did you wear it with platform boots?

linus i have a lovely dries van noten dress,i love his designs.

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 10:56:36

I'm taking DS to the hospital this morning for a check up, DH has taken time off work to come with me so we're all going for a bite to eat afterwards.
I'm wearing the Me&em grecian dress with a brown thin belt at the waist and my Sam Edelman Gigis. Am a bit worried that I may turn into a sweaty mess as it's viscose but we'll see.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Fri 05-Jul-13 12:38:44

Dry PP outfit is pretty but I would feel like a total nob in it!

Anni Have a great day at the zoo.

Santa Lovely jacket.

Novice Can they even do that?

Shop Hope checkup is ok. Outfit sounds lovely.

Well DH has decided that I am totally bonkers. I bought a shoe stretcher from Amazon after a rec on another thread. My NBs (aka evil tiny trainers) are tight and hurty so I put the shoe stretchers in and turned the handle veeery slowly, cackling madly as I had my terrible revenge on the bastards. The instructions say to leave them for 24 hours so they are on my bedroom floor where I can see them being tortured. I have a nother pair that are too narrow so I have put them beside the NBs so they can watch as they wait their turn.

Mwahahahaha! grin

foxysocks Fri 05-Jul-13 13:32:24

waaah the leopard shorts are TINY. both in leg length (ie non-existant) and waist wise, wtf? all saints are usually generous with sizing, non?

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Fri 05-Jul-13 13:34:59

Batty riders! Lol

foxysocks Fri 05-Jul-13 13:39:46

i don't think i have the nerve paris, honestly they are miniscule. annoying it's not free returns! reminder to check the small print, bah.

santamarianovella Fri 05-Jul-13 13:44:19

loool foxy so basically they are denim knickers.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Fri 05-Jul-13 13:49:08

Can you see cheek Foxy?

I was caught having to pay for returns today. Shoes from Mango were £8 to return.

I too have learnt my lesson

foxysocks Fri 05-Jul-13 13:54:36

no! no cheek.

i had them pulled down on my hips and still too short for comfort, plus fastening them so low caused some muffin shock. fucking fuck all saints I do not usually have muffin!!

pmsl at denim knickers ( I almost typed knockers there!). yes, leopard print denim kecks. back they go...

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 05-Jul-13 14:04:22

I did wonder Foxy. I got these and now the bastards are half price and I haven't even worn mine yet thinking they didn't look too short. But they are plenty short enough. Not indecently so, and I will only wear them on holiday or on private property, but still short enough.

grin @ batty riders Paris

libertychick Fri 05-Jul-13 14:19:54

LOL at the shorts drama's grin. Foxy I feel hatred for items of clothes that give me muffin top and I am a lot bigger than you!

Such a drag being at work today. Wearing H&M print cotton trews (not on website to link) and this shirt hanging out with sleeves rolled up and these ballet flats - am so hot!!! Was ok until about 30 mins ago....might go and work from home

Muffin top is so awful. I immediately return anything that gives me even a hint of it. I'm big enough without having something making my jiggly bits look even more jiggly! That said, I really think I could have sized down in my newest skinnies and they would have fit. Slow progress but I think I'm finally cracking it

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 14:30:11

DS all fine so that's good. Dress held up well although was in air conditioned restaurant so still unsure. Am a little nervous of wearing my Me&em maxi tomorrow in case I turn up with sweaty pit marks from stomping round town all morning.
Funny short stories. Grumy any shorts that have the pockets hanging out at the front are definitely too short for my old hag legs! ;)

libertychick Fri 05-Jul-13 14:33:54

Good to hear all is well with DS Shop. I don't know how I can avoid turning up sweaty tomorrow!! Think I will get just one tube and then a taxi rather than the tube, bus, walk combo I was going to do - I am convinced I smell ATM blush

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 05-Jul-13 14:38:05

Shop I'd hoped they were just big pockets - the legs looked OK in the picture! Pleased your DS is well. You need to be in my office, no chance of sweaty pits in here as it's always 20 degrees cooler than anywhere on the planet.

That said, I'm leaving it now to go and spray myself liberally with St Tropez in order that I may don shorts at some stage. I plan to spend the next 40 mins in the garden.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Fri 05-Jul-13 15:03:03

Am watching the tennis slathered in St Moritz tan. My own leopard print batty riders are getting an outing tonight!

shop get some driclor for the sweating. I swear by it (as a dedicated polyester wearer I have to be!)

foxysocks Fri 05-Jul-13 15:12:52

Can you link to yours, Paris?

paris would driclor work for sweating as caused by medication? Excess sweating is one of the side effects of one of my meds and it's really bad for me.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Fri 05-Jul-13 15:36:34

I'm on my phone Foxy so don't know how to link but they are from Mango. Type PARDO into their search engine and they come up.

One I don't see why it wouldn't work. Warning! It itches like mad the first few times you put it on but it's worth it. I only put it on once a week now and don't need any other deodorant. My friend told me about it a we both agree that it has changed our lives!

I'll give anything a go paris, I'm sick of being soaked in sweat. I go through two or three BIG cans of deodorant a week atm and it's just ridiculous. I even have to carry it around in my bag to re-apply through the day if I'm out

Just dropping in in between Summer Fair madness and saw your post re shorts Foxy - don't be too upset, AllSaints denim is tiny, I am an 8/jeans 26 in most labels but literally can't get my leg into All Saints skinny jeans in those sizes.

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 16:22:46

YY to taxi from the tube tomorrow.
Won't try Driclor tomorrow though if it means sitting scratching my pits all through lunch I sense you might all go off me! Looking forward to seeing everyone (and having a few cheeky glasses as DH has yet again said he'll drive me to the station!) smile

foxysocks Fri 05-Jul-13 16:41:49

that does make me feel better sleep. was not about to keep to 'slim into', had scones with strawbs and clotted cream this arvo and prosecco is in fridge for tonight wine

these paris? are they high waisted? not sure re: poly!

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 16:48:57

One Driclor website says it does help with sweats caused by meds. Google for more info - there was lots of info on there.

Thanks for looking shop will have a google and see what it says smile

No platforms Santa I have taste you know! Will pop a pic on my profile but it may take me a while
shop hope DS is ok.

Just bagzeed my comfy chair, made a cuppa ( dinner all ready in advance) and ready to watch The muscles of Murray wink

LEGS are OUT! ( not at work obv) .....Gap boyfriend shorts in stone, orange vest (again...I have washed it!!) flip flops with gems

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 17:28:17

Blimey it's going to be roasting tomorrow. No idea what to wear now......

I just checked the forecast for tomorrow and I am in a pickle. I don't do well in hot weather. My skin is practically blue so no matter how hot it is I HAVE to cover up or end up with sunstroke. My skin still burns through factor 30 suncream so have to go for 50 plus even in Britain's pathetic summers sad

Bet you don't have wrinkles though One

Not a single one dry grin

foxysocks Fri 05-Jul-13 18:35:04

I'm wearing a maxi tomorrow, with denim jacket on hand as we will be heading up north in morning. Will bling it up with chunky bangles and mulberry bag, the scousers will love that lol.

(Ps I LOVE scousers, if any are lurking grin)

Oh - forgot to mention, I got this skirt in the preview sale at Anna yesterday, I love it, really thick clingy jersey, the spine design down the back with the fish tail back looks amazing and feels fab. Nice with a white tank but will be great for A/W with boots and a jumper too.

I am still trying to decide on what to wear for MU too shop - seems a bikini would be weather appropriate! Possibly shorts but probably a maxi dress. Pretty much anything goes at the place we are going....

LinusDKD Fri 05-Jul-13 18:49:32

Soo envy about the MU tomorrow! I wish I could be a fly on the wall.

One I am reading a kindle book that might interest you, you might even have read it already. It's Carole King's autobiography and it really gives an insight into how she composes her music and explains how she started at a very young age.

paris I made that prawn recipe I repinned from you a couple of days ago and they were delicious! I might have to adapt the marinade a bit to our tastes, but it really was yummy.

I think poor DD has finally caught chicken pox. sad I just hope she doesn't suffer as much as DS. The pediatrician's surgery was closed this afternoon when I called but by chance he's on call this weekend, so I'll give him a call tomorrow.

shop can you wear your M&E grecian dress tomorrow? It should be nice and cool and you can dress it up or down.

LinusDKD Fri 05-Jul-13 18:52:33

Lovely skirt sleep! I have never heard of that brand but I am a big fan of Scandinavian brands.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 05-Jul-13 19:15:54

So hot and tired here. Would really like a glass of Pimms (the new Blackberry and Elderflower - yum) but DD2 has her school disco tonight and I'm on pick-up duty, as per. DH has come in in a bad mood. Every now and again he gets a taste of my everyday life, chasing up debtors and it depresses him. For him, it's black or white, feast or famine and he takes the lean times as though they were the end of the world. I'll leave him to sulk upstairs on his own.
The All Saints dress and the bracelet arrived today. Haven't tried the dress on yet as I've been at work all day (that 40 mins in the garden I hoped for turned out to be a pipe dream and my legs are still un-St Tropez-ed), but it looks promising. The bracelet is pretty but feels a bit on the cheap side. For $100 I'd have expected it to be a bit heavier. TBH my &Other Stories bracelet which is quite similar but far less pricey feels better quality. As I had to collect it from the Post Office and pay them £21 for the privilege, I won't be returning it though. And it still looks nice.

Grumpy hope you can have a wine after disco pick up. I'm on my second.
Sounds familiar with DH....mine is fine until visa bill arrives, the Mac gets turned on and he "does the visa bill", I disappear and then he pronounces " we need to batten down the hatches" i nod and then I just ignore him! This weekend will be a good one for me to ok big spends with
Wimbledon finals and lions third crucial moments I ask " how about ......?" DH goes "yeh, whatever " ....done!

Come on Murray!

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 19:55:18

Sleep love the skirt. I don't dare go to Anna. I need to not buy anymore.
Linus I may well wear the Grecian again tomorrow. Took it off straight after lunch so it's only been worn for about 4 hours so should still be presentable. Sorry to hear about DD - hope it's the last of the guys for you and your family.
Bit the bullet and bought some Driclor too. Itchytastic!

foxysocks Fri 05-Jul-13 19:56:53

Am freaking out over the tennis. Nerves = shot.

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 20:03:37

No spoilers please, I'm about 45 minutes behind on Sky+ tennis

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 20:04:46

Oh and Linus I'll send a MU update from the loo!
My armpits hurt!

And to me too Shop I'd love to hear about the MU......wish I could be there .
I wish my Me + Em dress would arrive tomorrow , I have a bloody "smart/casual " thing tomorrow night it would be perfect for.

Think I need wine no 3, it's getting tense!

QueenCadbury Fri 05-Jul-13 20:20:49

Am I the only one not interested in the tennis?

Have a fab time at the meet up. Can't believe I'm going shopping on a really hot day but it's too good an opportunity to miss. I think Sunday will be so hot that I'm not so bothered by what I wear to the christening now as I have a feeling that when we get back to the house everyone (myself included) will get changed into shorts anyway!

That sounds like a lovely christening QC

LinusDKD Fri 05-Jul-13 20:23:52

Thanks shop! I wish the MU was tonight as DH is watching
Cloud Atlas and I could do with updates to relieve the boredom.

Serves me right for buying the dvd for him. Yawn.

I have a question about nude shoes: are they really a wardrobe staple?

I like them om other people (I think it was QueenC who pinned a lovely picture of denim and nude heels) but as I am very pale, I doubt the usual nudes will look good on me.

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 20:26:53

I'm pale too Linus these darker nudes work for me and I wear them an awful lot.....

santamarianovella Fri 05-Jul-13 20:28:09

how hot will it be?my dd birthday is on sunday,i was planing on wearing a maxi dress.

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 20:30:35

27 degrees here on Sunday.....

linus I have worn and worn my nude R and B ballet flats, fab.....but the patent nude courts just make me feel a bit dull and like K Middleton without the swishy hair, have not been worn yet......maybe it's the shoe because they always look fab on other people and you your beautiful highness, curtsey

It's my DD's birthday on Monday, santa! how old will yours be?

Linus they're not a staple in my wardrobe!

MarshaBrady Fri 05-Jul-13 20:38:59

I don't think I can do nude heels.

MarshaBrady Fri 05-Jul-13 20:43:49

Drama on court!

Not sure whether to do flats or heels tomorrow.

LinusDKD Fri 05-Jul-13 20:47:00

I like those shop but they don't seem to have anything in that colour anymore.

This is the image QueenC pinned and I really love it:

denim and nde

But I still think this looks good on tanned skin and not on super pale skin like mine.

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 20:48:10

I'm all about the flats tomorrow. Too much stomping around for me to do before if get to you all....... And too hot.
Still behind on the tennis so please don't give it away! flowers

MarshaBrady Fri 05-Jul-13 20:49:42

I've got that pin too Linus! I do like them in that look. I think it's just that my dresses are wrong for nude.

QueenCadbury Fri 05-Jul-13 20:49:45

linus I was only pinning them as I was considering buying some to go with the lk bennett dress but like dry can't get thoughts of kate Middleton out of my head. I was searching looking for other looks to go with them and actually do quite like them with jeans. I don't generally like brown though so they will have to be a very particular shade for me to like them.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 05-Jul-13 20:51:23

I can't really do heels - flat feet.

I need some help in finding a nice pair of flats, something I can wear with jeans or skirts, quite summery, casual and, most importantly, slip on/off for going through airport security. Any suggestions?

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 20:51:28

I've never worn mine with a dress. Purely boyfriend jeans or rolled up chinos, or my skinnies....

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 20:53:02
MarshaBrady Fri 05-Jul-13 20:55:10

That looks really nice. Looks fab with skinnies etc

LinusDKD Fri 05-Jul-13 20:59:03

Nice! Maybe I'll have a look in NY for a nice (and cheap) pair.

QueenCadbury Fri 05-Jul-13 21:01:39

What colour grumpy?

santamarianovella Fri 05-Jul-13 21:04:33

2 amber

LinusDKD Fri 05-Jul-13 21:06:18

Grumpy how about Tod's ballerina flats?

I have several pair and they are very comfortable but elegant enough to wear with dresses.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 05-Jul-13 21:10:17

Colour is not the main issue, I'll consider anything, although I do really like brights and neons right now. I could wear my gold flats, but I'd like something a bit more chilled, iykwim.

I think I need wine no 4.... Can't cope!

santamarianovella Fri 05-Jul-13 21:11:00

linus i like that pin too,i think the patent stilettos are a better option to the court ,mid heel one.

Annianni Fri 05-Jul-13 21:12:29

The tennis bores me grin
Dh is watching it, all I'm needed for is to tell him who the celebs are in the audience.

Dsd looked lovely for her prom earlier.
We followed them up to the venue to take photos and giggle at some of the dresses

There was a Ferrari, a Porsche and a rather large tractor dropping off the other guests.
Dsd and her gang went in a vw camper van.

Hope you all have fun tomorrow at the mu envy

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 05-Jul-13 21:13:58

I like these in orange, fluoro fuschia and coral. I'd like to not pay £125 though.

QueenCadbury Fri 05-Jul-13 21:15:13

Anni the tractor and camper van are sooooo cool. Can't wait for my DD prom ( few years away yet!)..... Porsche and F a bit naff IMO .

I think my nude courts are just boring.....the ones pinned look much better. More pointy....mine are 'safe' sad

Grumpy yes yes yes ! Loverleeeeeeeeeeeee! Get them go on!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 05-Jul-13 21:20:33

Nice Queen. What do French Sole fit like? I have narrow feet and can go between size 3 and 4 (36-37).

santamarianovella Fri 05-Jul-13 21:22:58

ani I would love to go in a vw van ! It's big enough for an after party !

QueenCadbury Fri 05-Jul-13 21:24:05
LinusDKD Fri 05-Jul-13 21:24:32

Both are nice grumpy and QueenC!

I can wear a size 4/37, 4.5/37.5 and 5/38 depending on the brand and the French Soles I bought recently are a size 38 and fit perfectly.

I have slim hands and feet as well (the only thing that is slim at the moment wink )

QueenCadbury Fri 05-Jul-13 21:28:13
QueenCadbury Fri 05-Jul-13 21:29:11
Annianni Fri 05-Jul-13 21:29:28

The sports cars were dropping off boys.

It was the girls in the very cool camper van and tractor.

I feel sorry for the neighbours of the boy hosting the after party.
We've predicted the police being called.
I know I wouldn't be very happy if 50 noisy pissed teenagers started partying in a neighbour's garden at midnight.

Christ I'm getting old... grin

QueenCadbury Fri 05-Jul-13 21:30:04
shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 21:31:52

French Sole come up small and do not stretch.

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 21:32:31

Am still 30 mins behind in the tennis but Anna Wintour looks amazing....

QueenCadbury Fri 05-Jul-13 21:34:20

No idea about sizing grumpy I'm afraid. I just came up with those after googling neon flats.

Dh is now totally ignoring me as he's absorbed in the tennis so I may as well go to bed.

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 21:34:51

Yes as ever shop but did you notice how far away she was from the woman next to her? Jude Law looks rough!

MarshaBrady Fri 05-Jul-13 21:37:35

I know! Dh and I just said that Dry. Anna W does look good. Murray's Dp looks great in orange.

LinusDKD Fri 05-Jul-13 21:39:21

Confession Time: I actually own a pair of those Melissa jelly shoes in purple.

In my defense, I only bought them to go swimming in the lake as beaches here are usually pebble beaches and my poor feet were hurting getting into the lake.

I've only been swimming in the lake twice...

QueenCadbury Fri 05-Jul-13 21:43:45

Oops, sorry linus blush. I'm sure they're lovely irl but they just look like the most bizarre thing ever in the picture.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 05-Jul-13 21:44:16

Thanks QueenC - I have bought these.

Hope they fit now! I am usually a 36.5 when I can get it, so fingers crossed.

QueenCadbury Fri 05-Jul-13 21:45:53

Cool. What happened to the spending ban though grin

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 21:46:49

Toe cleavage QueenC! You be careful when you slip them off at the airport! grin

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 05-Jul-13 21:52:46

What spending ban?

<innocent face>

LinusDKD Fri 05-Jul-13 21:54:04

No offence taken QueenC, they are pretty horrible in real life.

And they smell most peculiar, like bubble gum.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 05-Jul-13 21:56:34

Linus I have a pair of navy Melissa/Vivienne Westwood rubber pumps with pom poms on the front (like clown shoes). DH thought they were ridiculous, I thought they were cute. I now know they're actually quite ridiculous. And I know what you mean about the bubblegum smell!

MarshaBrady Fri 05-Jul-13 21:57:46

I had some, the plastic ballet flat VW ones. I did wear them swimming and one floated out to sea!

MarshaBrady Fri 05-Jul-13 21:58:27

And yes to the smell, very bubble gum.

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 21:59:47

Kim Sears' dress is from Hobbs - the Ava

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 22:01:43
shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 22:04:06

Wooooooop wooooo woooooooop tennis
That's going to be one hell of a final!

shopafrolic Fri 05-Jul-13 22:04:56

His opponent was like the Terminator! Scary!

I love the sound of the bubble gum scented shoes, they sound fab, all of them! Caught the last of the tennis, going to be an interesting final.

santamarianovella Fri 05-Jul-13 22:17:56

dry you'r alright love?

Yes....recovered from the stress thanks santa... Can't wait for finals this weekend. Normally not this into Wimbledon but this year, with all the predictable boring winners out its much more exciting! Have put a pic of Union Jack dress on profile! grin

Very patriotic dress dry grin

santamarianovella Fri 05-Jul-13 22:53:22

looking fab dry loooove the tiara ! i was about 7months pregnant at that time and only wore a union jack scarf. so amber VB and I were all 7 months pregnant with girls during the royal wedding ,i feel kinda special grin.

DP has bought me a keyboard grin it will help with my vocal exercises though so there is a practical reason for having one other than the fact that I like to mess about and make up little tunes

GwendolynMoon Sat 06-Jul-13 07:44:16

Hey everyone. Have had limited Internet access this week so haven't been able to post. Have a lot to catch up on, it's a whole new thread already!

Feeling a bit nervous this morning, have hair appt later and am getting my long ( past shoulder blades) locks chopped off to about chin length. DH is sulking about it but I really need a change, hoping I won't regret it.

Happy weekend everyone. Going to try catch up a bit now smile

QueenCadbury Sat 06-Jul-13 07:53:58

I was heavily pregnant during the royal wedding too. I remember having to have a nap in my friends bed where we were watching it. Great dress dry.

gwen my dh would be exactly the same.

one that's so cool about the keyboard. I used to have one as a kid and loved making up tunes. I would love a piano but I don't really have a musical bone in my body.

I'm wearing a dress today (a rare occasion as I can never find any to fit due to long torso). Anyway it's just a linen thing bought last year from next but for some reason dh loves it. So whilst he was getting a bit amorous over me I asked if I had permission to buy more dresses today and of course he said yes grin [gin]. Bet I don't bloody find any to fit though.

Have fun weekends in the sun!

QueenCadbury Sat 06-Jul-13 07:54:31

Ha ha, that should ave been another grin not gin!

Fedupnagging Sat 06-Jul-13 08:16:14

Not been on MN for a few days and have just caught up - you're all talking AW! I need some summer first. Having said that, I have started looking for knee length boots.

Am getting some great ideas from you all.

Have fun at the mu.

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 08:51:18

Gwen my DH biggest worry when I got my hair cut short was that there'd be nothing left to hold onto blush
Waves to Fedup
Great typo QueenC my DH loves me in a dress too and I rarely wear them. I'm in one today, the red Levis M&C one with a belt and jewelled R&B sandals. Too hot not to get legs out. The dress is definitely too big on me so not my best look for the MU but am hoping everyone will ignore as it's so damn hot!
On the train, which has a minor fault! So fingers crossed I make it.

MarshaBrady Sat 06-Jul-13 09:00:41

Morning, what a glorious day for a mu.

What shoes are people wearing today? Think I'll walk in flats and change like last time.

Shop you're flats I know. Good luck on train, it had better get you there!

GwendolynMoon Sat 06-Jul-13 09:06:35

Lol Shop my DH just hates change, am sure he will get used to it and then love it.

I need to spend a long time this morning applying make up, I don't usually wear that much but having to look atyself in the mirror for a few hours always freaks me out so I have to try and make sure I look my best wink

Have a good MU everyone going.

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 09:12:28

Why didn't I think of that Marsha? Mind you, not sure what heels I'd wear with this dress. See you all later!

I was in hospital for the royal wedding! Had just come back from holiday where I had terrible food poisoning and was on a drip. Nurses were far more interested in the dress than me.

I always say Harper is DD's celebrity twin as they are so close in age!

God poor you Amber..... Posh was my pregnancy twin grin when she was expecting Brooklyn! Kept looking at how chic and tiny she was sad

Good luck with the hair Gwen I'm sure it will look fab.

LinusDKD Sat 06-Jul-13 09:57:35

DS was born in January so I was still in a post natal haze during the Royal wedding.

I am wearing the teal M&E grecian dress for the first time today with the Stella&Dot necklaces and DH complimented me again.

I guess he's just happy I'm wearing a dress instead of jeans.

Have fun at the MU!

My Me + Em dress just arrived. It's a no go though sad... Such high expectations but too short even on me! Fab quality fabric and lovely design though, v flattering but I just wouldn't get enough wear out of it.

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 10:35:43

That's a shame Dry, which one was it?

santamarianovella Sat 06-Jul-13 10:49:06

morning all!

amber thats terrible, food poisoning at 3rd tri, is very serious, glad it didnt affect you or your dd.
dry i was massive compared to VB,and i dont know how she manged to stay stylish.i was a mess.

i contacted sleep 2 days ago about the MU,as i was not sure i was gonna make it,and it seems i definitely wont be able to make it sad
we are having 8 toddlers and 14 grownups at DDs birthday tomorrow and im about to lose my mind trying to prepare everything.

hope you all have a lovely time!

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Sat 06-Jul-13 11:01:01

Happy meet up day!

I'm slightly hungover but have been to the shop and now have a pile of sugary things to perk me up. All I'm doing today is slobbing on the sofa and cheering on Sabine Lisicki in the women's final this pm.

Wore shoes like this last night. My feet swelled up in the heat so they were a bit uncomfortable! Should be ok when the weather returns to normal though.

foxysocks Sat 06-Jul-13 11:50:50

Come on lisicki! Can't wait to watch with a glass of fizz later.

We are loving this weather. Last min change on outfit am wearing Celine skirt for first time got big thumbs up from DH. with grey slouchy vest and pale gold havs, denim jacket on for morning chill now discarded.

On phone and better go but have fun at mu sorry to miss it again xx

noviceoftheday Sat 06-Jul-13 12:00:56

Hi, running late for MU. Will be there about 1.30/1.45pm, order without me! Who is coming? Me, Marsha, sleep, shop, amber? Liberty? Mrs R?

MarshaBrady Sat 06-Jul-13 12:22:28

On my way! Just got to negotiate south to north but shouldn't take too long.

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 13:01:05

That's a real shame Santa I was looking forward to meeting you!

Turquoiseblue Sat 06-Jul-13 13:03:37

Just a quick little delurk again smile, work and training and looking after smallies means the end of the week s always super busy here. Caught up on the last tread as we re driving to weekend away in glorious sunshine, opened this tread to see 200 replies already! Phew will try catch up but hello to all. Enjoy your MU.
Mignonette sorry to see about your little niece, thoughts are with you.
Loving all the lovely links, refusing to think of AW just yet (well ok maybe there s a little wish list evolving but not going there till next week at least).
Waiting on AR road delivery from my sale haul. Fingers x'd.

noviceoftheday Sat 06-Jul-13 13:17:50

Hello Turquoise! Don't worry I am not in the A/W camp yet! Not even on my radar no matter what dry says grin

On way to MU. They may see more of me than they bargained for! Bloody dress strap keeps slipping down. Has never happened with this dress. Grr!

this one Shop. Almost perfect but not enough to keep it. Lovely though.not to worry, there'll be others.

Foxy just you and me watching?

McNally Sat 06-Jul-13 13:55:46

Have a lovely MU everyone. Hope you are several bottles of prosecco in by now! Such a gorgeous day for it. Looking forward to hearing about it.

At a lunch wearing blue Whistles rope print dress (from two summers ago) with gold Jimmy Choo heels. Am enjoying the air con in the restaurant...

I love that dress dry though I worry that on my rather large norks, it would look a bit matronly?

One I'm smaller on top so suit high/round/slash/boat necks. Plunging necklines make Me look boney....the fat's all moved south on me!!!!!grin. It's only the length that I'm not sure about for every day and poss work.

Hope the MU is going well....have visions of the whole Me + Em collection being modelled in a restaurant in London!

If I'm truthful dry even though I've piled on the weight, I carry it well as I've put it on evenly everywhere instead of all just on , say, my bottom half. The only think I don't have is a fat face, not even a hint of double chin! Well, not unless I really push my face down for comedic effect hmm

You must be taller than me if that dress comes up short on you as it looks a decent length in the picture. That said, I swear hemlines are getting shorter every season

I'm now a blithering wreck....blubbing at Wimbledon final! While you're all out at the MU! Have a wine for me.....5.30 I'll be having mine when I go out grin

One I'm not even 5ft3 and the model is 5.10 but the skirt looks the same length and I'm short's wierd!confused

LinusDKD Sat 06-Jul-13 15:45:07

Such a shame dry! But if you feel like your not going to be comfortable wearing it, there is no point in keeping it.

I can't wait for my two sales dresses to arrive and I hope they are as nice as the other M&E dresses I already have.

DMIL told me on Skype earlier that I looked lovely so I e-mailed her the link to the M&E website.

Migth have to get some Driclor next time I'm in the UK because I need it in weather like this. Not sure about the stinging though.

You're taller than me dry grin I'm a very teeny 5ft exactly. Shame about the dress then, it is very nice but if it's too short, it's too short

LinusDKD Sat 06-Jul-13 15:48:37

dry I can't wait for DH to make me a White Lady later on because I bought a bottle of Hendricks Gin to see if it's as nice as Bombay Sapphire.

Oh, and maybe a G&T tomorrow when we have friends coming over for a bbq.

Remind me Linus gin,Cointreau and ?.... Sounds like a good one for summer hols....aperitif is earlier then !!!! (6 pm term time, kids activities permitting!!!!) grin

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 16:56:16

Well that was fun! On the train home
MrsR so pretty, amazing hair, gorgeous necklace and great neon Zatchel. Glad you joined the fun.
Liberty so nice to put face to name, as lovely as I'd hoped and great necklace. Glad some of my things went to such a great new home.
Marsha my partner in crime! Fab neon J Crew tee and sunnies, great minds think alike!
Sleep naughty trying to tempt me into Anna...another time? Beautiful All Saints dress and lovely jewellery as always
Novice beautiful dress and oh that ring is to die for
Such a good time, I didn't want to leave. Much prosecco consumed in the sunshine. Pissed - yes but feel very lucky to have met such a fab bunch of people.

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 16:57:28

Linus make sure you serve that Hendricks with a slice of cucumber instead of lemon. Yummy!

LinusDKD Sat 06-Jul-13 16:59:54

According to the Savoy Cocktail Book it's:

1/4 lemon juice
1/4 cointreau
1/2 dry gin

Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass. I love it over crushed ice and with a splash more cointreau.

Can't wait until DC are in bed!

I'm having a beer now [classy]

LinusDKD Sat 06-Jul-13 17:01:55

What ring, what ring?

Oh, and what happened to update from the look! <taps feet>

MarshaBrady Sat 06-Jul-13 17:38:45

Haha we're still here. Fab times. Back later.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Sat 06-Jul-13 18:18:42

Glad the meetup is going well

<waves to Turqoise>

Re Driclor. It does itch like mad the first couple of times. Try to get it on your actual armpit only. I put it on before bed an lie with arms outstretched to get air on it to dry it quicker!

DH picked this shirt up for me in the Zara sales today and I am in love! It's a beautiful charcoal colour and is thick and silky. I've already thought of a million outfit combos for it and I know it's going to be a hard worker in my wardrobe all year round.

I'm in a pink t shirt, veeery slouchy, pale wash denim shorts and purple Havs today. Feet need a rest after the high strappy sandals on the hottest night of the year.

I'm out on wednesday night with some v glam friends who live abroad so haven't seen for a year. The outfit has to be killer. Hope my JC sandals come in time.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Sat 06-Jul-13 18:19:31

Outfit sounds super glam McNally

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 18:35:23

Paris Driclor is a revelation. Itchy last night but fine now and saved me from embarassment today.
Marsha can't believe you're all still going? I thought Sleep had to leave?? You're making me look bad! Am home now with a glass of wine having a lovely chat with DH and watching DS play in the sand. Good times.

MrsRadicchio Sat 06-Jul-13 18:41:59

Impressed the MU is still happening.

Hampstead heath was packed but dh and the dc did a job job of coping without me.

Really glad I was able to make it, lovely to meet you all. Was a very relaxed afternoon and felt like I'd met you all before.

McNally Sat 06-Jul-13 18:52:45

Ahhhh, MU sounds very glam. Lots of great jewellery by the sounds of it.

That shirt is lovely Paris. It is great when you get something you know is going to work so well with your wardrobe. Impressed with your DH. Did he have instructions?!

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 18:54:07

MrsR glad they coped - means you can come again? I will watch your 333 board with even more interest now I've met you IRL!

noviceoftheday Sat 06-Jul-13 19:16:24

Have just got on train! Had a fab Mrs R and Liberty are sooo nice and lovely to see Marsha, Shop and Sleep again. I loved what everyone was wearing, especially accessoriesgrin

My skimpy dress (god help me when I get home wink) was Desigual. The ring was Boodles raindance. Present from dh and makes me smile every time I wear it. I was also wearing a Tiffany amethyst bangle studded with diamonds - another dh Xmas present and Tiffany diamond studs (aka thank god you didn't die giving birth to dd present from dhsmile). Non diamonds were white gold ankle bracelet, magnolia silver flower watch and fab £6 rose necklace from magnolia.

The prosseco was plenty as was the chat. Good times x

noviceoftheday Sat 06-Jul-13 19:36:26

Hmmm got off train at different stop thinking I would get cab and get home more quickly. I was wrong.dh and dcs having to come and get me.blush

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 19:36:31

So nice to see you again Novice - just a lovely, lovely afternoon.

foxysocks Sat 06-Jul-13 19:40:28

aww glad you guys had so much fun!

am also home, showered and in pjs with glass of fizz. my first all day, didn't feel like drinking at all this arvo so stuck to water. now DC in bed and DH gone to see some band with a friend at our local carnival.

poor lisicki. I actually couldn't watch, when she started to cry I felt SO bad for her.

lovely shirt paris.

mcnally I was considering this me&em dress but it's sold out in my size. maybe boring? don't know.

have been getting hot weather head today and looking for summer dresses. i like vanessa bruno but still expensive, and maybe too pastel-y?

another gorgeous athe but not sure on the colour, bit too autumnal pour moi i think

I like this acne, absolutely ADORE the colour and shape but it's 100% poly. even if it's that special french poly wink still super spendy for a plastic dress, non?

also having worn my gorgeous new breton from linus yesterday thanks thanks looked at some more maison scotch and found this super cool take which I may bookmark and consider.

finally - sorry, epic post! - balenciaga. do the bags ever go on sale? I can't afford FP, am considering second hand, but still so expensive. what to dooooo?! <firstworldprobsobv>

foxysocks Sat 06-Jul-13 19:44:13

also re: balenciaga - DH will flip if I spend more than around £400 on a bag. which means I either buy new and get a small plain one, or second hand for something bigger/statementy. even then second hand is pushing it, they seem to really retain value.

LinusDKD Sat 06-Jul-13 19:46:22

I absolutely adore that Me&Em dress foxy and if I didn't think I would look like a chubby toddler in it, I would have bought it a long time ago.

Like the Vanessa Bruno as well.

Please keep the descriptions of outfits and bling at the MU coming!

Well done Mr.Paris for buying that shirt, I can see it will go with so many things.

Now where is DH with my White Lady?!

MarshaBrady Sat 06-Jul-13 19:49:21

I am home. I got too tipsy and nearly knocked myself out on the stair well. And then nearly fell over walking back into the eating bit. The shame. I loved seeing everyone, loved it. More of you next time! Tis fun. Especially after a few champagnes proseccos.

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 19:54:57

Bloody hell Marsha next time I'll walk you back to your seat!

MarshaBrady Sat 06-Jul-13 19:58:24

Although I'm heartened by the fact you must have missed the falling into the eating space bit grin

Or perhaps you'd gone already <sad face>

foxysocks Sat 06-Jul-13 20:02:40

haha marsha! i like you even more now. have NEVER met an aussie that can't handle their booze, I bet you are no exception. we had aussie guests - colleagues of DH - and they arrived at ours around midday once, i offered them a cup of tea and they were aghast, wanted to get straight on the beers lol. I felt v bad!

MarshaBrady Sat 06-Jul-13 20:03:36

lol lol not the CARBS <sign of the cross at BEER>

I haven't eaten today. That's my excuse grin

MarshaBrady Sat 06-Jul-13 20:04:28

A glass of beer is like a loaf of bread to me. I'd rather have the bread. With butter. A baguette preferably.

Am rambling.

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 20:04:42

I took a cab to Chalk Farm. I could have walked there quicker than he drove there as he had to go round the canal........ Hilarious. £5 wasted but not sure i could have made it solo!

MarshaBrady Sat 06-Jul-13 20:05:55

lol Shop. Bet you were close.

MarshaBrady Sat 06-Jul-13 20:08:22

And I'm not 100% Aussie, born here, I get sloshed on bubble only wink Pure class.

LinusDKD Sat 06-Jul-13 20:09:14

<regrets drinking that beer>

noviceoftheday Sat 06-Jul-13 20:12:18

The bubbles were

Just remembered shoes and bag. Shoes were a fab £25 carvella nude low heel sandals. Amazing on the comfort scale. Bag was my new Rag&Bone in coral. I was also wearing a simple freshwater pearl bracelet which I got from China. For some reason I couldn't find bracelet I wanted (Tiffanys hearts elsa peretta) so this was my compromise. Hmmm dcs don't seem in the mood to bed. hmm

Ps I agree with Shop, Mrs R has very swishy hair, loved liberty's statement necklace. Shops Levi's dress is fab. Totally suited her. Loved marshas neon tee, matched beautifully with (wang?) skirt and sky scraper heels. Sleep's dress which I think was maxi was a great print.

MarshaBrady Sat 06-Jul-13 20:20:50

Only joshing Linus enjoy!

Novice loved your dress. Very pretty.

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 20:21:02

I love other people's swishy hair. As you will have seen - I definitely a lack swish!

LinusDKD Sat 06-Jul-13 20:25:46

I do love a cold beer on a hot day.

Especially in Oz where they pour it in an ice cold glass. Heaven!

santamarianovella Sat 06-Jul-13 20:26:54

im so exhausted ,i could cry sad.

so nice to hear everyone enjoyed the MU,everyone sounds so stylish.
lovely shirt paris, and how was your night out?
foxy i like the first bruno dress, some balenciaga do go on sale, but not all styles.

marsha your post made me crave for baguette with lots of buttergrin.

noviceoftheday Sat 06-Jul-13 20:29:11

Had you just had it coloured Shop? It looked very swanky.

I loved the Hobbs dress you linked to earlier worn by Kim Sears, but everyone will be wearing it now.pity.

Thanks Marsha. I only get to wear it about once a year on hols so bit if a treat for me. Now what to wear tomorrow? I am thinking hot pants and slouchy tee for our BBQ.

Annianni Sat 06-Jul-13 20:31:14

Glad everyone had fun.
I wanna be tipsy!

We had a couple of hours on St Annes beach, then kfc on the way home [classy bird emoticon]

foxysocks Sat 06-Jul-13 20:33:40

oh yes novice. hotpants and slouchy tee always good! my go-to grin

i will wear boyf shorts and probs my neon tee tomorrow. yoga then cleaning then tennis tennis. come ON murray! tennis tennis

foxysocks Sat 06-Jul-13 20:34:29

noviceoftheday Sat 06-Jul-13 20:38:16

Well I have a meeting with the bank manager on Monday. It's meant to be a hot day. Hot pants then?gringrin

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 20:41:31

YY Novice colour and cut

McNally Sat 06-Jul-13 20:42:15

Love the outfit breakdown novice. Sounds really lovely. Your jewellery sounds like it lived up to expectations!

I really like that Me&Em dress foxy. Looks like it'd be pretty useful. Like the Vanessa Bruno dresses too. Esp the first one. I think only too pastely if you're pale and for some reason I think you're dark (have I made that up?!).

Poor you santa. Hope you're ok?

Hope you've got your White Russian Linus. Relaxing on sofa with a gin and tonic. Bliss.

LinusDKD Sat 06-Jul-13 20:45:31

McNally No no a White Lady! And yes, I am sipping one as I type.

Coincidentally, a White Russian is DH's favourite cocktail. I blame the Big Lebowski.

santa I bet your DD is going to have the best birthday ever tomorrow!

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 21:07:30

Linus the tee had arrived when I got home. [Flowers] looks quite boxy, will try tomorrow.

shopafrolic Sat 06-Jul-13 21:08:07

Bed now, can't handle daytime drinking!

libertychick Sat 06-Jul-13 21:25:28

What a lovely group of ladies - I really enjoyed the afternoon and would have happily stayed on swigging bubbles - we will all have to negotiate late pass outs for the next time!

MrsR has amazing hair...and in the best MNV form brought in her EBay goldsigns for me and they fit and I have had a little whirl around the house in them this evening and I love them.
Shop looked v glam with her sharp hair and lovely Levi's dress, Sleep is very gorgeous and cool, great maxi dress, Marsha also v cool, minimalist chic and would look fabulous in a bin bag and Novice just so glam and the jewels are amazing....

Agree with MrsR felt like I had known everyone for ages and was all very relaxed.

santamarianovella Sat 06-Jul-13 21:49:42

thanks ,im good McNally ,its dd birthday tomorrow ,and i literally had to prepare for the whole thing alone,

i hope so linus its my first try at throwing bdays ,we did a very small one last year, so im really nervous,i want everyone to have a good time.

and whoever pinned the strawberry filled with cream cheese filling,i owe you a big kiss, delish!

QueenCadbury Sat 06-Jul-13 22:00:01

Ah I'm so glad you had a good time at the meet up. I'm ridiculously excited at meeting you all in October! I've had a fab day shopping but Birmingham is soooo busy. It was heaving. The dc loved lion king at the theatre too. Knackered from the drive there and back and now chilling with a glass of Beaujolais. Am about to try and find all the things I tried on/bought/lusted over. I did a lot of lusting in the selfridges bag department. And in the toilet queue I actually totally embarrassed myself by telling some random stranger that I loved her chanel watch and bag blush

libertychick Sat 06-Jul-13 22:07:36

Hope you have a great day tomorrow Santa

Are there links coming QueenC? We were all chatting about your Oct date today but we may need another MU before that one too!

santamarianovella Sat 06-Jul-13 22:08:45

queen dont be blush,im sure you made her happy!,women love it when other women complement them on what they are wearing

QueenCadbury Sat 06-Jul-13 22:37:40

Give me a chance-it takes time to find everything online!

Right then, I bought this dress for dh to lust after. this bag which dh definately didn't lust after..." I just don't understand why you need another bag", I didn't understand it until I saw it but nice my years old pleather grey bag has died I needed a replacement. Since grey bags do not exist this stone is perfect. And I love the versatility as it's a shoulder bag but also had a cross body strap.

I also bought some gorgeous mole sandals from m&s although they were kind of in desperation. I really wanted low heel ones as whenever we go out we tend to walk there but these are fairly high. They look gorgeous with the davina dress and I can imagine wearing them in church tomorrow but after that they are just too impractical for my life so they are going back.

So I tried on some birthday dresses... anglomania is gorgeous and great fit but not quite the right colour. If this ever gets made in a brighter cobalt or emerald then it will be infer sure. This dvf was gorgeous too but looked too similar to my lk bennett. Again in a different colour it would be a serious contender.

QueenCadbury Sat 06-Jul-13 22:47:15

So now for the lust list...

givenchy. I knew when this didn't have a price tag that it was waaay out of my price league. And yep, it's £1345 of gorgeousness.

This, however may be a contender for the 40th bag longchamp. It's a much nicer pink irl and I totally lurve it. Otherwise I could go for the more affordable longchamp.

I alo tried on a few other things namely maxi dresses which all looked great until I looked side on in the mirror and look pregnant (my tummy is not at all flat!).

linus I also saw your jelly shoes and can confirm that they are much less bizarre looking irl than on the website!

So that's me done. Dh not happy so i've assured him that I will not buy another thing until my london trip (I may also have to spend a couple of grand on a tooth implant as I have a dead tooth). Can't believe you're all going to meet again before October. Make sure you don't all get bored of each other and leave me alone in London.

libertychick Sat 06-Jul-13 22:48:52

grin at QueenC I am too hyper from all the booze earlier to sleep and have being waiting to see some lovely things!

Monsoon dress looks perfect for the weather we are having right now and I like the fossil bag - I almost bought a pink one a few weeks ago.

The DVF is my favourite of the two birthday dresses but I can see it is similiar to your Davina dress.

QueenCadbury Sat 06-Jul-13 22:49:41

Sorry for all the typos. The Beaujolais has gone to my head grin

santamarianovella Sat 06-Jul-13 22:56:07

queen the navy dress you bought is really gorgeous.
the DVF dress in nice too.
apparently that givenchy bag is THE it bag right now,i see a lot of
people in london carrying it.

QueenCadbury Sat 06-Jul-13 23:01:26

Lucky that I don't live in London anymore then as I'd be accosting more strangers to compliment them on their bags grin

noviceoftheday Sun 07-Jul-13 07:56:18

Morning all. i am hungover. shock

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 08:40:38

What time did you leave Novice?
My DH cooked a Chinese last night so that soaked up some of the alcohol. Rough night's sleep though - combination of booze and heat = fuzzy head.
I have got another hair appointment booked in already if anyone fancies an interim meet before October? smile

foxysocks Sun 07-Jul-13 08:41:05

Me too novice. DH in trouble for bad behaviour, and he knows it. Have cup of tea in bed, and that's just the start of his day mwahahaha

McNally Sun 07-Jul-13 08:46:01

Morning! Not hungover but seem to have developed a cold overnight. In this weather?! Having a restorative coffee.

Oh dear foxy. Hope he wasn't too bad. Enjoy your tea while thinking of ways he can make it up to you!

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 08:47:11

Are you sure it's not hayfever McNally - I wake up with a raging sore throat, bunged up nose etc every morning at the moment. Might have to move to London.......

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 08:47:39

Uh oh Foxy - what did he do?

foxysocks Sun 07-Jul-13 08:50:49

Bad Drunken antics. Not going into any more details haha. He got up with DCs and brought tea without any prompting which is a reasonable start.

McNally Sun 07-Jul-13 08:59:29

Could be hay fever shop. Think it is probably a combination. Def not immune from it in London unfortunately.

Sometimes I'm happy to trade some drunken antics (not too bad ones though) for a lie in and tea in bed foxy.

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 09:06:33

Boys and their booze. When I got home (pissed) last night I sat down, had a good conversation with DH about my day, cooked DS pasta, put DS to bed, read story, ate dinner with DH and then had an early night. Last time DH came home pissed he woke the whole house up, pulled my pillow out from under my head causing me to go flying across the bed and then wasted the whole of the following day feeling hungover.
Last time I was hungover I was on my way to the beach at 8am!
I, of course, am perfect - so that probably explains it.
And don't get me started on my friend's DH who goes for a wee in the corner of their bedroom when too drunk! grin

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 09:21:42

She's in The White Queen playing a bonkers character quite convincingly!

Morning all. Glad you had a great MU. Shop when's your next hair app?
QueenC some v good purchases.....hope the christening goes well today. Lovely day.

Someone spotted my Nancy last night and stroked it ! bloody hell that sounds rude !!!!!!!

MarshaBrady Sun 07-Jul-13 10:04:07

Well done Shop! Love it when you can place people. There's some one at nursery who could be an actor or just a familiar face, I can't work it out.

lol Dry! grin

Shop what's the date?

QueenC love your links.

Foxy well done in cashing in on antics, hope your day is still going swimmingly.

MarshaBrady Sun 07-Jul-13 10:07:53

Shop have pm'd you.

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 13:16:10

Will check date for next hair appt. end of Aug some time.
Marsha have PM'd you back
A wearing cut off denim shorts and my neon tee (inspired by Marsha)
So hot! Friends arriving at 3 for boozy BBQ. It's just taken DH and I over half an hour to low up a paddling pool. Idiots!

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 13:18:38

MarshaBrady Sun 07-Jul-13 13:25:38

Am so hot had to have a breather inside! That's a first. Shop have a fun time. August sounds good.

MarshaBrady Sun 07-Jul-13 13:57:17

For the next one Dh has said do not come home at bed time, just stay out. The dc get too excited again, took ages to get them to sleep in the end. So I just need some one else with an extended pass wink.

Might have to slow down a bit on the prosecco however as nearly knocked self out on stairs.

libertychick Sun 07-Jul-13 14:47:37

Me, me, me Marsha grin. I have told DH next time I am staying late! It is very hot today.

I am in Dotty P stripy sundress, wine in hand, watching the tennis.

MarshaBrady Sun 07-Jul-13 14:56:50

Excellent Liberty! grin

I need to go in to watch the tennis as iPad won't get a connection outside.

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 14:57:10

Me me me too Marsha - I said to him "what would you have done if I called and said I was staying out later?" - he said "told you to have fun and get on with it" WOOOOOPPPPPPPP!
But YY to drinking a little more slowly and eating again!

MarshaBrady Sun 07-Jul-13 15:05:28

Shop Excellent!

LinusDKD Sun 07-Jul-13 17:58:08

Is everybody out celebrating?

shop did the Splenid tee fit?

Annianni Sun 07-Jul-13 18:17:30

If Shop doesn't like the tee.
Can I be next on the list please.

I've already got it... worn it once... got a grease stain on the front hmm

LinusDKD Sun 07-Jul-13 18:33:49

Anni sure. I think that someone else asked as well, but I'm not sure.

Maybe Liberty? Or maybe that was re. the breton top that Foxy has.

Will try and find the post.

LinusDKD Sun 07-Jul-13 18:36:37

Found it! It was liberty and it was the breton, so you can have the tee if shop doesn't want it.

LinusDKD Sun 07-Jul-13 18:38:35

Oh and one because DD has chicken pox I might not be able to go to the post office this week and send you that vest. I do hope that she won't be contagious anymore by Wednesday (day 6).

that's ok linus please don't rush on my account. I hope DD feels better soon

Bloody fantastic weekend! Doesn't good weather make everything/everyone so much nicer? A Murray win just sealed the deal for me.
Now back looking at S/S but not much left sad

I am so hot. My sweat is sweating. Aside from that, these 'comfort shorts' from evans are the best thing I've bought all year. I can now wear long dresses and skirts in comfort instead of dreading beign cursed with the dreaded 'chub rub' I'm going back for some more of them just in case they stop making them!

Boden sale is on

QueenCadbury Sun 07-Jul-13 20:20:11

Hello. Lovely day at the christening and wore the new navy dress and silver flats. I was going to wear the kew floral dress but dh decided to tell me that he doesn't like it hmm. I was worried I'd be too casual but everyone was and as predicted once we got back to their house it was shirts and tees all the way.

I won't be able to make an August meet up as we're on holiday towards the end and then away for the last weekend. I plan on staying out all day in October but will probably need to get a train back about 7ish.

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 20:23:10

Sorry but the tee is fab and a definite keeper - thanks Linus
Such a lovely weekend. Fab BBQ today with lovely friends and our DS' playing nicely.

When's the October MU? I may be able to make that one if I'm welcome?

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 20:34:51

Not sure of date for Oct meet One - I don't think I'll be there as shooting season will have started.
My next hair appointment is August 24th (the saturday of Bank Holiday weekend).
Let me know if anyone fancies it?

QueenCadbury Sun 07-Jul-13 20:40:05

one it's 12 October.

shop definately can't make that date as we'll be travelling back from Cornwall.

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 20:43:30

Chub rub? On Vogue One???? Faints. TMI! TMI! grin
QueenC glad the Christening went well. Outfit sounds lovely.
Will put 12th Oct on calendar too and see if it clashes with DH........

McNally Sun 07-Jul-13 20:44:17

Love that navy dress QueenC. Glad christening was good. Amazing weather for it.

Hope the bday party went well santa.

Such a lovely weekend.

Oh dear shop, are vogue ladies too delicate for talk of CR? grin

I'll know closer tot he time if I can make the MU, will let you know when I know

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 20:45:22

YY Santa how as your party? Amazing day for it - perhaps you're all still going smile
Linus hope illnesses finally all clear up this week.

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 20:46:06

As a flower One , as a flower! smile

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 20:48:23

Am watching the tennis back on sky+. It's making me want a hat.
love this

McNally Sun 07-Jul-13 20:51:13

I want a hat too shop! That one looks pretty good. Bought my DD a similar one with neon pink trim (doesn't stay on, obv). Gutted they don't do adult sizes.

libertychick Sun 07-Jul-13 20:56:04

I'll have to chat it over with DH Shop - it's his birthday around that time and we usually use the August BH weekend to do something for him...

Like the hat shop I only own silly 'festival' hats like wooly polar bears and the like. Oh, wait, I also own a burgundy felt floppy hat with black trim. I wish I was even half as stylish as the rest of you ladies sad

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 20:59:10

Trouble with hats is I have a big head (who knew?) grin so they don't usually fit too well.
For the amount of sun we get in this country I might just nip to the market and buy one for £10.
I know Bank Hol won't work for lots of people Liberty. Just thought i'd mention it on the off chance.

LinusDKD Sun 07-Jul-13 21:04:26

Glad you like the tee shop!

Sitting on a futon watching tv in a half empty living room. We have moved most of our old furniture in anticipation of the new furniture arriving on Thursday. Can't wait!

This heat is making me want to chop my hair really short just to get it off the back of my neck but short looks terrible on me, I don't have the right features to pull off a really short 'do'. Going to have to look up some ideas for pulling back mid-ish length hair so I can at least pretend like I make an effort grin

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 21:07:06

Downside of short hair in this weather is I always burn the back of my neck....

I'd love to be able to pull off a pixie cut but my face is too round at the cheeks and square at the jaw (god, I sound like a right looker grin) I think the plump cheeks are what make me look young tbh.

LinusDKD Sun 07-Jul-13 21:15:24

I think we might have the same face shape one. Really short hair doesn't suit me and neither do fringes.

MarshaBrady Sun 07-Jul-13 21:15:40

Lovely day! What weather. Really nice all week.

Meet up sounds good Shop will check in with the h. See what we are up to.

Santa how was the party?

noviceoftheday Sun 07-Jul-13 21:23:02

Hello! Fab day, 20 friends came round, dh on the BBQ and me serving champagnegrin I wore slouchy tee, denim hot pants and havianas. We set the sonos up so the whole house and our garden were filled with summer hits from the late 80s and 90s and danced around to the hits of our uni days while watching the tennis. Happy days. There is a very big chance possibility I may be hung over tomorrow.

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 21:26:24

Sounds awesome Novice - so much more fun when the sun shines!

noviceoftheday Sun 07-Jul-13 21:27:20

Shop, I cant do the August date as am on hols. What's the significance of shooting season? <nosey>

MarshaBrady Sun 07-Jul-13 21:28:43

Well done Novice! Sounds fabulous.

shopafrolic Sun 07-Jul-13 21:30:52

Not nosey at all. But maybe controversial for some. DH shoots - pheasant, duck and the like. Season starts in the Autumn and runs till end of Jan.
Means DH is out most Saturdays and I don't have childcare. The good news is that hairdresser will cut my hair on a Sunday because he's a star, so perhaps people might meet me for a Sunday lunch instead of Saturdays........

Sounds fab novice I spent the day pandering to my hungover sister who came by to beg some clothes, flat shoes and a shower after going to a house party and crashing out instead of going home.

santamarianovella Sun 07-Jul-13 22:24:39

evening lovelies!,
what an amazing day,fab party!, ,didnt sleep much and was up early worrying about it,but im really happy to say that we all had an amazing time,no tantrums or anything , which is partly due to the help of an amazing entertainer ,who did an excellent job keeping the kids busy,so the mummies and daddies could enjoy the lovely weather and the food with little booze,
DD did start to cry when we all started to sing happy birthday,i have no idea why! but was back to her self when she blew the candle .

was so happy for murray, what a wonderful man,and going up to hug his mum made me all teary!

i wore a maxi dress by velvet and a pair of gold flat sandals.

and what is chub rub wink?

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Sun 07-Jul-13 22:40:19

Well it sounds as though everyone has had fab weekends. Mine has been super busy - two race meetings yesterday (dashing from one to the other) and then DD's Stagecoach show in the evening. Today has been a bit easier with DD's end of term party followed by BBQ at my friend's. Enjoyed the sunshine, the company and watching Andy Murray win Wimbledon. Would have enjoyed it more with a jug glass or two of Pimms, but I was the designated driver. Officially knackered now and in need of a shower and half a packet of Nurofen. Meet Up sounded fun, glad you all enjoyed your stylish assignation. Some great links this weekend too. Especially like Foxy's Maison Scotch T. I have a soft spot for all things Scotch.

Chub rub is where you get sores on your inner thighs because they've rubbed together santa [sticks out tongue] I wish I could say it's purely because I've got bigger but I've always suffered from it, even at my smallest size 8. I think whether or not you suffer from it depends on the build of your legs, I don't think it's exclusively a 'larger lady' problem.

santamarianovella Sun 07-Jul-13 23:01:26

one I have not heard the expression before, but now that you explained it,I know what it is,and yes it's not a size problem.

Be careful talking about it, shop might faint grin

LinusDKD Mon 08-Jul-13 07:26:02

santa that is so sweet that your DD started to cry! I bet she had the best time ever and now you can relax for another year. wink

Poor DD's little body full of chicken pox and she had a bit of a difficult night. Not as bad as DS but she clearly is feeling under the weather. sad

As I am not going out today (or maybe just for a walk) I am dressed for comfort. White Splendid tee, grey Splendid maxi tube skirt and Stella and Dot necklaces.

MrsRadicchio Mon 08-Jul-13 07:51:54

Hello everyone,

Hope you enjoyed the lovely weather. Novice your party sounds great, liking the dancing to cheesy tunes!

Santa glad DD's birthday went well. It does seem stressful and I hate the thought that there are years of this ahead! We have avoided doing something for DS1 so far [bad parents emoticon] and this year we are hoping to just be able to do something low key in the park if the weather holds up.

Shop I am not sure about bank hol meet up as we will probably be visitng ILs. Should be able to make October though. Meant to say that I thought your Levis dress was a great colour on you - can see the benefits of getting colours done!

Although all was well with DH and the DC, DS2 would not go to sleep on Saturday night so I got my commupance. Marsha returning after bedtime sounds like a good plan.

shopafrolic Mon 08-Jul-13 08:13:59

Thanks MrsR! Sorry you had a rough night - they know when we've had fun, I swear it! And thanks for the lovely compliment - I would never have worn that colour before so pleased I did it, but don't want to wear a mix of 5 colours head to toe (especially being an Autumn) - so I tend to keep colours close to my face and not worry too much after that....
Morning all! Amazing tennis yesterday (caught up last night) - so pleased for him, he's worked so hard for it.
Linus your dressed for comfort outfit sounds fabulous.
It's going to be a scorcher here again today so I'm back in my denim cutoffs with this tee and Havs.
Still smiling about the MU - you're such a lovely bunch!

It's already ridiculously hot here, I'm not even properly dressed yet and I'm roasting! Poor DD linus I hope she starts feeling better soon.

noviceoftheday Mon 08-Jul-13 08:23:08

Morning all! No hangover! No hangover!shock God knows how, but hey, thank goodness for small mercies.

Thinking about the party making me all smiley. All my friends turning 40 this year has just been so fab and its just made us enjoying spending more time with each other. Also, we designed the house and garden to be at its best in the summer, either just relaxing or when entertaining but we hardly ever get the chance to enjoy it with the crappy weather. i also moan constantly about the cost of the gardener blush but it felt so worth it yesterday as the garden looked glorious and was fun to see all the kids running around in it. My girlfriends were all wearing such pretty dresses as well. smile

Today, it's back to see the bank manager after my bi-annual terror visit to the dentist. Think I will shorts again.

noviceoftheday Mon 08-Jul-13 08:31:56

Shop, I agree with Mrs R, that dress really looked terrific on you. I liked the bag and belt match too. I am also smiling about the MU too.

My two regrets of the MU were I didn't get to talk to either Sleep or Mrs R much as I was too busy gabbing to everyone else. Also didn't arrange late pass because of yesterday's party.

libertychick Mon 08-Jul-13 09:19:08

Morning all!! Yay a week of good weather in store - just a slight pain trying to dress half appropriately at work...

Today I am wearing a black, zip front, v old (all my summer clothes are old) knee length Gap dress. Couple of silver bracelets and a watch but no necklace (unusual for me) as they look weird with the zip. Wearing v v comfy but entirely inappropriate rocketdog flip flops but have black ballet flats under the desk for slipping on as needed.

I am feeling a strong urge to buy a new dress!!! I will resist...had a look online last night but nothing grabbed me apart from the navy linen Monsoon one QueenC bought...actually it's all QueenC's fault that I am looking in the first place <repeats to self, I do not need a dress> grin

MarshaBrady Mon 08-Jul-13 09:49:27

I know I didn't get to chat to MrsR and Sleep as much, next time!

I really enjoyed it. So much fun. And nice to get more of an idea about what everyone does etc

Everyone looked very pretty and stylish, next time I'm dressing up more! Will wear a dress.

I have good autumn dresses am very low on summer ones.

noviceoftheday Mon 08-Jul-13 10:03:00

I loved your t shirt. It was fab. So casually stylish. I don't think I would think of putting a t shirt and skirt together with heels. Given me food for thought!

This is the way to work.... Sat on our decking overlooking the gardengrin

MarshaBrady Mon 08-Jul-13 10:09:36

Ah thanks, I felt a bit scruffy but that's my default so am used to it. grin

Ah this weather, all week!

santamarianovella Mon 08-Jul-13 10:55:08

morning all!,
mrsR thanks, having a small birthday in the park was my first choice,im
doing it next year!
sorry to hear about your DD linus,i hope she is better soon, and as always sound super stylish!

marsha im sure you looked fab, i dont buy a lot of summer stuff either ,as the weather is so unpredictable,i prefer to splurge on WA stuff and transitional pieces like, light sweaters and jackets.

im still in my gym shorts and top,and have no intention of changing!

shopafrolic Mon 08-Jul-13 11:06:46

Marsha you looked fab. I tried to roll my tee sleeves yesterday like you'd done but the fabric was thicker and the sleeves shorter so it wouldn't work. I'm such a saddo.
Sleep how do you do your eye make up? You had a great colour liner under your eye that made them pop - really stunning. Care to divulge?

Annianni Mon 08-Jul-13 11:12:03

Glad your dd had a good birthday Santa

And wasn't it Amber's dd's birthday too?

My boot search is finally over thank god you all say... she'll stop banging on about boots now
I did start looking for boots last Winter, so it's took a while...

These are lovely, irl they are a really soft suede, and are just like these Marant in colour... a lovely mid brown.
They look great with jeans and are just the right height for daytime.
So pleased!

So my shopping ban is in full effect.

If I come on here talking about pretty things, can someone please shout at me!

I've started juicing again today... having home made juice/smoothie for breakfast and lunch. With a healthy-ish meal at night.

I lost 1.5 stone last Spring doing it over about 3 months.
But then the stress of moving house, amongst other things put a stop to it.

I just need to start exercising now... hmm

MarshaBrady Mon 08-Jul-13 11:13:08

Lol Shop. Your dress is a perfect colour for you btw. Everyone looked great.

shopafrolic Mon 08-Jul-13 11:13:33

Some fab Chinti & Parker bits on the Outnet. Lovely striped jersey skirts, dresses, cute printed cotton shirts......

MarshaBrady Mon 08-Jul-13 11:14:34

They are great Anni lovely colour and good heel height too.

mignonette Mon 08-Jul-13 11:20:00

Hello everybody!

I have Pmed some of you but here is my news-

They are going to treat her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We sat on the plane in Germany waiting to disembark and unwilling to actually get off because we were so scared of what awaited us. At that point the plan was to take her off life support, give palliative care and let her drift away. Then a TM came through saying they had performed a last scan and it showed her brain damage was confined to less 'significant' areas of her brain. Since then baby has-

1) fought ventilation and is down to a few breaths per min and due to be extubated tmrw;
2) regained renal and hepatic function;
3) Has normal newborn reflexes;
4) Has no signs of weakness on either side and has good muscle tone;
5) grimaces, tries to cry (two little teardrops) and jumps when she hears alarms go off;
6) appears to like her tummy being kissed;
7) receives Breastmilk via NG tube.

She has lost the oedema and is a tough little kid. We are cautiously happy. I did not dare hope any of this would happen let alone all of it. We have had tears from the doctors and neo nurses who are as shocked as we are but think putting her into a hypothermic state upon delivery reduced the catastrophic damage that was expected.

We do not know what her future holds but she now at least, has a chance of one.

Thank you all for your support and concern flowers. It has helped. I sent you all a mental message of thanks as our plane flew over London on Friday which looked so beautiful in the sun but our hearts were so heavy. BA were lovely, comforting my sister who was tearful all the way there. I'm not sure when I am coming home and have taken extended leave of absence from work and I may not return as i do want to make some changes to my life in general and now seems lie a good time. I'll spend some time at our home in the East when I come home but for now am sitting on a terrace on a mountainside in the forest with Frankfurt in the distance. It is beautiful. And i love German prune jam!

My wish list clothing wise starts with the Prada/Miu Miu stripes. Love them. And I like the Jonathan Saunders wool bandeau dress in horizontal tobacco, indigo blue and white on page 71 0f this months Vogue,
the Carven sand yellow parka on page 94, those grey luxe track pants in leather I have seen somewhere, an ochre or brown flannel mid calf skirt, a kilt in tartan, stripe or leather panelling, a men's pin stripe shirt, wool pajama style loose pants in a tea towel stripe and a check wool coat. That is it so far but sure they'll be more....

I will read this new thread to comment on all your posts asap but so good to tell you our happy news..

shopafrolic Mon 08-Jul-13 11:23:26

Mig as per our PM conversation I'm so happy to hear this. Life changes sound good - things like this make us realise what's important. Let us know when you're home and sending love and positive vibes

MarshaBrady Mon 08-Jul-13 11:30:34

Great to hear from you Mignonette. Great news too.

Annianni Mon 08-Jul-13 11:36:35

That's brilliant news Mig, i'm so pleased for you all.
Finger's crossed.

And enjoy the jam. x

mignonette Mon 08-Jul-13 11:46:18

I have a little video of her responding to us that I will try to PM and some pictures of her first cuddle with her parents. seeing what happens when she is off the ventilator is the next hurdle...

Glad you all had a great MU this weekend. Enjoying reading all about it....

LinusDKD Mon 08-Jul-13 11:51:40

Oh that is such wonderful news mig! I have thought about you and your family a lot and I hope things will only get better from now on!

McNally Mon 08-Jul-13 11:56:57

Oh mig, that's such fantastic news. I have my fingers and toes crossed that she continues to make good progress. What an amazing little fighter she must be. I am so pleased and have been thinking of you all.

Oh mig that's amazing news. Fingers crossed that she continues to progress. I will be thinking of you all

mignonette Mon 08-Jul-13 12:45:36

They've just taken her off ventilation even though it was scheduled for tomorrow as I think I said earlier. She's tolerating nasal prongs so far. I am waiting to see her, the clinics all have wi fi here and there's even a gelateria and Italian restaurant on the university hospital campus so that helps.....wink

I cannot keep up with all the changes and changed plans/outlooks etc. I had tried to prepare myself for the worst and I feel a little strange really-not numb but odd. The sunny weather seemed so inappropriate when we arrived full of despair and of course it has got hotter and hotter. We are quite high up so the house is lovely and cool but Frankfurt is terribly dusty and stuffy today because the hospital is half building site... The meals are also very bread and meat heavy with the other alternative being Pizza (!) which the Germans here seem crazy about. Have seen pizza delivery after delivery arrive on the wards. Am envying the staff their scrubs as I so hate the heat and never feel comfortable especially as I have hot flushes that are fierce. My Dr kept telling me I was imagining them as I am apparently 'too young' until he got the bloods back which confirmed it. I am nervous of HRT but will have to capitulate because these are unendurable.

What to wear? So am in a loose cotton tunic/shirt dress a bit like the Stella ones with orange/cream circles on them (that are way too expensive). It is cream with a plisse pleating around the edge of the hem and along the sides and has a pale orange panel swirling from the back to the front. A Henley collar opening to a deep V and that's all I can tolerate. Tan HasBeens in my feet and navy blue Espadrilles for inside the clinic to cut down on noise. Hair in a bun to keep my neck cool and no make up bar lipstick. Feel hot and yuck. I bought a Jo Malone pear cologne in the airport but now feel a bit meh about it. Not really me. Plan to investigate German pharmacy toiletries if I can find the time and energy to shop. So far i have only bought Pumpernickel bread, Ice cream (Amarula flavour and a Limoncello one) and some newspapers for a schoolteacher friend to use in her class. No clothing yet.

I walked the dog (an enormous hairy retriever) yesterday across the mountainside on a 'shortcut' to the bakers. Got dragged through probably tick filled meadows at a fast clip then had to drag self back up the slope home carrying enormous bag of bread and all hopes of the dog towing me home went out the window. I had to tow him....Brief thoughts of doing a Maria Von Trapp came into my head grin until I realised that what goes down has to go back up again. I ruined my lovely flowery espadrilles and that's the second pair gone after the others went into pond ooze on my allotment. Good job they be cheap.

My SIl lent me a gorgeous pair of inky blue Linen PJ bottoms- trying to find a similar pair as no idea where she got them. They would be great worn as day wear as I see those loose linen pajama style pants are in this months Vogue and seem to be on the way back. I used to wear them in the early 90's with a tight T. Great slopping about wear.

QueenCadbury Mon 08-Jul-13 12:46:39

Oh mig that's absolutely amazing! I am so pleased and happy for you and your family xx

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Mon 08-Jul-13 13:11:03

Mig That is great news. I hoped there would be a miracle for that little girl!

Other happy news is that DH has phoned me to say that it FIL has had his test results back and he appears to have beaten cancer for a second time!

What an utterly fab day! grin

More fabulous news paris that phone call must have been such a relief!

mignonette Mon 08-Jul-13 13:30:42

That is great news. What your FIL must have been through and of course, all of you too. Always glad to hear the good news of others.

Linus How is your DD doing? Hope things are getting better.

shopafrolic Mon 08-Jul-13 13:37:12

Yay Paris more good news on a sunny day - lovely!

noviceoftheday Mon 08-Jul-13 13:50:13

Oh Mig and Paris, that's terrific news!thanks

I am celebrating too although not as big as Mig and Paris. I finally have a bank account for the charity. Yippee! This was step 3 (out of 5) to getting everything set up formally and each step has been frustrating. Now, I can send off my form to HMRC to get it registered as a charity for tax purposes.

I decided against shorts and am in a simple sundress with flowers all over.

Yay for you novice a big step forward, hopefully everything else you need to do will go smoothly now smile

mignonette Mon 08-Jul-13 13:57:46

Novice That is a big step. Hopefully everything else will now cascade in a positive direction. And I can donate smile...

I made so many promises to the fates over my niece that I will now have to be good for the rest of my life like a saint. So finding a charity that helps other girls is a great step for me.

LinusDKD Mon 08-Jul-13 14:03:18

paris what a relief that news must be for you!

Fab news novice!

I am currently sitting on our drive next to the car whilst DD is alseep in her carseat. She didn't have a good afternoon nap and it's too hot and sunny here to go for a walk (apparently sun is not good when you have chicken pox) so I decided to take her for a drive in a nice airconditioned car.

She is really miserable but she has fallen asleep and I don't have the heart to wake her up so she's in the shade with the doors open and me next to her.

Thank god the wifi works on our drive!wink

mignonette Mon 08-Jul-13 14:11:51

The things we do for our children Linus...I always remember the advice given to me to let sleeping babies/children lie. Sun on itchy skin must be terrible for her. Do you have a little paddling pool she can splash in shen she feels a little better? Filled with cool water?

Annianni Mon 08-Jul-13 14:16:47

Fab news Paris

Well done Novice, nearly there.

I've just gone dizzy from blowing up the small paddling pool.
My hayfever is terrible today, which doesn't help.

I'll leave the big one for dh to do later grin

santamarianovella Mon 08-Jul-13 14:25:27

wonderful news today, paris and mig hope it stays that way,
novice thats great, your perseverance really worked.

linus, i agree with mig cool water will really help and soothe her skin,

LinusDKD Mon 08-Jul-13 14:30:27

Good idea! Will try the paddling pool when she's woken up.

shopafrolic Mon 08-Jul-13 14:33:41

Congrats Novice great news!

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Mon 08-Jul-13 14:50:01

Glad to hear the charity set up is going well Novice

Poor MiniLinus. Chickenpox in this weather must be hideous. Paddling pool sounds like a great idea.

I am so happy about FIL's all clear. It has been hanging over us since christmas when the lumps in his neck came back. FIL is a retired doctor so, knowing all about the process, it must have been incredibly frightening for him. Now he's hoping his hair grows back before the weather gets cold again!

We're going out for dinner tonight to celebrate. I'm going to wear the zara skort, my new grey shirt and flat gold gladiator sandals.

Anyway, back to business! Amongst other things, the bikini arrived and it's lovely! I could probably do with a few circuit sessions before I do it justice but the style is so different from usual high st swimwear.

I also bought a pair of faux leather trousers in dark grey in the sale for £12. I have wanted leather trousers for a while but they are £££ so I thought I'd get some faux to temporarily scratch the itch and see how much wear I would get out of them before buying some real leather ones. They fit really well but I had to take them off because I was so hot in them!

QueenCadbury Mon 08-Jul-13 14:59:18

That's great news paris. Enjoy dinner.

Fab news for you too novic

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Mon 08-Jul-13 15:30:04

Great day all around smile

Mig I am beyond thrilled for you and your family. You've endured enough tough times of late and deserved something positive to happen. You must be feeling so relieved and I hope you know how much everyone on MNV thinks about you.

Paris Great news for you too. Make sure you celebrate good and proper.

Well done Novice - more than halfway there!

I have DD2 at home this afternoon after I was called into school to collect her as she had hurt her knee at lunch time. Think she's milked it a bit and seems fine to me. Once she realised we wouldn't be going to the cinema this evening to see Despicable Me due to said injury, she miraculously improved. She'd better not make a habit of it!

In car so forgive any typos.
mig what wonderful news, really v moving, a proper miracle. How is your sil doing?
And Paris that is a huge relief for you. What wonderful news all round.

Qc I agree with whoever blamed you for wanting a summer dress... Now desperate for your monsoon and poss a white dress too. Damm!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Mon 08-Jul-13 15:36:51

Just checked in on Pink Peonies, what do we think of this?

I like it but I think it would only look good on someone slim yet curvy. I think it's just one of those things that wouldn't look good on say, me, who is larger than average. I do wish I could wear it though, I'd even wear it to sainsburys grin

mignonette Mon 08-Jul-13 15:44:40

Paris Have a great evening. I agree that being a medic must have made it so hard for your FiL. I like the sound of your outfit. It is the kind of thing I like to wear.

Dry I have an 'interesting' relationship with SiL but will not let that get in the way of supporting her. Am worried about my Brother as he tends to do most if not all the childcare, works very hard and is subjugating himself too much. SiL can play the sick role a little too well and has these incredibly over involved parents (Mother is wiping her butt when after 8 days, SiL should be mobilising) who she encourages in treating her life a child princess. Is hard to watch hmm but am giving leeway at the moment as she has been through an ordeal although she has always been a bit like this. I refuse to do personal care that she should and can do for herself though. Families, hey?

I am now back at the house in my shorts and a geometric print sleeveless cotton shirt with my feet up drawing fashion designs with my older niece. So far I have ripped off Simone Rocha's entire ouvre and am claiming it as my own to my niece who thinks I am fashion-genius and clearly in the wrong business. They have these great drawing pads which are pre-printed with the outlines of female/males and you then draw clothing on top. The body shapes are not fashion thin either nor Barbie pneumatic.

mignonette Mon 08-Jul-13 15:47:00

Grumpy naughty DD2- sounds familiar to me, that one smile
The skirt is great but I would worry about scratching it because of the lightness of the shade. I have metallic leather shoes and they do get so grazed.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Mon 08-Jul-13 16:12:05

Good point re Grumpys skirt Mig. I have silver clogs from Lotta and the scratch very easily.

grin at your designer rip offs Mig. never did Zara any harm though!

mignonette Mon 08-Jul-13 16:20:39

Does anyone recall when TopShop got sued by Stella McCartney for copying a pineapple print playsuit? That's the only time I recall action being taken for 'tributes'....Paris

I have an old pair of metallic gold loafers from Miu Miu. They look like I have been walking through a briar bush after not that many wears so scratched are they. DH calls them my 'Nun on a Night Out' shoe grin. A sexy Nun wink.

santamarianovella Mon 08-Jul-13 16:50:57

mig i remember that,it was back when she was designing for chloe, imagine if isabel marant did the same thing and sued all the high street brands for stealing the designs of her wedge trainers and boots, she could make some serious money!

grumpy my eyes!,but im sure someone more edger can give you a better opinion .

mignonette Mon 08-Jul-13 16:52:52

Santa God yes, Marant could clean up. COS have really paid tribute to Celine too and as for Zara as Paris pointed out.....

shopafrolic Mon 08-Jul-13 18:15:09

Not sure about that one Grumpy - I think it will depend how shiny and also how thick the fabric is. If it was a leather thickness and a slightly dull silver I think it would be easier to wear..... how would you style it?

Good wifi for 3 hrs.....have been listening to "99 red bloody balloons", Tracey Chapman who made me want to kill myself on a good day, let alone when I've been without Internet for hours, don't the know I have a desperate need for a pair of Gigis now the suns out and "Rio" by DD, whom I was rather partial to in the day,.....bloody Virgin. Anyway back now!

Hmm Grumpy not a skirt for Xmas Day, you might get accidentally put in the oven, basted and served with a nice jus.....roasted Grumpy anyone? won't make any stuffing jokes, far to rude for someone as posh as me

grin wink

santamarianovella Mon 08-Jul-13 21:39:01

dry no wifi is such a scary thing i get all panicky, even dd screams "no internet" as it seems it only ever happens when she is watching the wiggles big red car song on youtube!

shopafrolic Mon 08-Jul-13 21:55:46

Which Gigis are you getting Dry?

Well you know me.....fancy tan but have seen gold at a good price on Amazon.

libertychick Mon 08-Jul-13 22:32:07

Paris and Mig - great that you have had such good news today.
Linus hope your DD feels better soon and that you get some rest tonight. Well done on the bank account Novice.
Grumpy it’s a difficult skirt – if you had toddlers they would love it though!!! Agree with Shop that a more matte look might be better.

I have spent the evening sipping wine and looking at pretty dresses. This is fantasy stuff – I am not, as you all know, actually going to buy a dress! wink

Maxmara polka dot
Raoul white
McQ beetle print – Love this but probably not brave enough who am I kidding, not rich enough more like

And then I realised that lots of dresses appealed but wouldn’t suit me so I had a go at matching people to dresses!!!! Such fun – I didn’t do everyone – much easier when I have actually seen people

So how did I do??? Miles off??? Vaguely close for anyone?? smile

shopafrolic Mon 08-Jul-13 22:49:41

I like mine Liberty and as you know I'm not too confident at finding dresses to suit me! You've got a skill there! Can totally see everyone in what you picked for them. Love your choice for Sleep. Will watch who comes back with positive feedback with interest!

libertychick Mon 08-Jul-13 22:56:05

Yipee - one success will do me!

Great game liberty

Grumpy hope you weren't offended by my skirt comments!

MrsRadicchio Tue 09-Jul-13 07:06:14

Mig and Paris so pleased to hear your good news.

Novice that's great about the bank account. So two steps to go then? Will it take long to get it fully up and running now?

Ha ha Liberty I am impressed! I can see that the dress you picked is my sort of style. I love your choice for Sleep and think she would look great in it - Sleep you should buy it!!

LinusDKD Tue 09-Jul-13 07:11:06

liberty what have you done?! I like all those dresses but I am on a spending ban! Frustrating!

My favourite is the McQueen one, luckily it is too ££££ for me to even consider it. I might pin it though for the winter sales wink

Poor DD had quite a restless night but I hope she is over the worst now. The spots are scabbing over nicely so I hope I can go out with her tomorrow. Just to the supermarket but that'll do because I am starting to suffer from cabin fever.

We also had to get up several times for DS because he had nightmares, so not a lot of sleep again. Yawn!

QueenCadbury Tue 09-Jul-13 07:23:10

I like mine liberty. Excellent choice even though you've never met me!

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 08:01:56

Morning all - I love the Maxmara polka dot too Liberty

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 08:23:48

The one you picked for me has been reduced this morning <sits on hands>
I love the pockets on it, not sure it's a quite deep enough colour, also slightly worried about how long it is in the body. Are you about Marsha? What do you reckon.....?

MarshaBrady Tue 09-Jul-13 08:33:04

Ooh pretty dresses! Nice one Liberty.

Shop my only thing is the high waist, which would be high on anyone. But the colour could be fabulous. I really like it for you. I like the £ too and am tempted too but think the colour might be tricky on me. Good for autumns?

MarshaBrady Tue 09-Jul-13 08:33:52

Love my one too Liberty be fab if it was on sale!

libertychick Tue 09-Jul-13 09:25:21

Worth a try Shop wink <enabling> it can always go back. The waist line is a bit tricky - risk of looking pregnant - but I thought you could pull it off and I loved the pockets too.

I have looked at the polka dot maxmara several times today - seems to have some pleating at the neckline which might not work though....<go in the sale, go in the sale> The Raoul is completely impractical I've decided and the McQ is fantasy stuff - even if I could afford it I am not sure I have the 'sass' to carry it off.

Glad everyone likes them! <Drumms fingers impatiently waiting for Sleep to come and see hers>

Annianni Tue 09-Jul-13 10:34:21

Where's my dress? sad

Love the others though.

Waiting for ds2 to wake up so we can feed the ducks and swans. He didn't sleep well last night, with the heat and his eczema (sp) poor thing kept scratching.

Shop, what does your ds wear in bed when it's hot?
If I don't put a vest on ds2, he scratches himself to bits.
Same with short pj's... he then scratches his legs.
No matter how short his nails are, he still does it.

No dress for me either sad then again, I don't think I post enough links to give a good idea of my style smile

In,amazing only to me news, I have tried on an old maxi dress that I was going togive away because it's a size 12 AND IT FITS!!!!! I do know that Joe Browns (the brand of the dress) are a bit generous anyway so it's probably more like a 14 if I'm honest but that's still over a dress size smaller than I was wearing grin

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 11:32:42

Anni at the moment DS is sleeping in his nappy. The less clothes rubbing against him the less he scratches. We cut his nails super short and put a layer of Epaderm cream all over him immediately before bed so his skin is super moist. We also give him a dose of Piriton which seems to help with the itchiness.
Daytime as few clothes as possible and am now trying Sunsense toddler milk (the pink one) SPF50 - it is ££££ but we've tried everything else and lots of people with kids with eczema have recommended it. Will keep you posted. Oh and we took away his duvet and he has a very thin blanket.....

libertychick Tue 09-Jul-13 12:12:53

Sorry Anni, One, Dry, Linus, Grumpy, Santa, McNally, Decam, Foxy, Paris, mignon, Gwen, Amber, Carrie and hopefully <yikes, anyone else???> I would have been up all night if I did everyone smile. I did the easy ones, people I have actually met and QueenC as I browse around her lovely pin boards quite often and know her colours so feel like I have a good idea of her style. Did worry that I could make people feel excluded but half the fun of this thread is getting to look at clothes for other people.

One I love it when a lower size fits!! I have a pair of Monsoon skinny velvet jeans which I ADORE just because they say size 10 - My hips are categorically not size 10.

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 12:13:19

I keep looking at this and thinking of you MrsR

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 12:14:09

You didn't do the lurkers either Liberty! wink

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Tue 09-Jul-13 12:15:19

Hello all!
Not in the least offended by the skirt comments - I asked for genuine opinions as I always do when I just can't make up my mind whether something is good or bad. I hadn't thought Christmas Turkey until you said it, but now I do! And thanks, because no doubt I would have thought it in time, had I actually bought it. I can sometimes be blindsided by something I see which isn't actually that nice - just well-styled and worn by someone gorgeous. That's the power of t'internet. It can sell you stuff you'd just walk past if you saw it hanging on a rail in a shop.

libertychick Tue 09-Jul-13 12:21:14

<slaps forehead> Sorry lurkers!!! grin

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Tue 09-Jul-13 12:23:45

Love that skirt shop

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 12:24:33

Just watched the video of the Maxmara dress you suggested Liberty definitely too high waisted for me - even the model looks larger than she is in side profile so I'd stand no chance! Love it though - especially the colour and the pockets! flowers.
Feel free to share anything else you ever spot - you've got a v good eye.

rubylovesshopping Tue 09-Jul-13 12:37:36

I am such a lurker I love the clothes and links on here. Do any if you have the rag and bone Newbury boots? The navy ones on the outnet today are calling me to buy them, just wondering if they're worth it?

libertychick Tue 09-Jul-13 12:40:50

I can't remember if anyone here has them Ruby. Anni has almost certainly tried them!!!!

40 Bum has them if you want to flick back through her blog posts.

Welcome BTW!

libertychick Tue 09-Jul-13 12:41:55

No problem Shop - everyone enjoying the links has made me smile all morning.

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 12:48:25

Welcome rubyloves don't just lurk - stick around! I'm sure Anni tried them......

QueenCadbury Tue 09-Jul-13 12:55:36

one that's great. Love it when that happens.

ruby I do love those navy boots 40bum has. Makes such a nice change from black.

Anyone else realising that they don't have enough summer clothes?? It always seems a waste to buy loads as we get the sun is infrequently but when we do and it's this hot there's very little to wear. I even scoured the local charity shops this morning in desperation and did find some denim shorts from monsoon. They're a bit of a frumpy length on me but rolled up they look fine. I have decided to downgrade this floral dress as I didn't wear it to the christening and I don't have any other formal do's coming up so I've been wearing it this morning. Just got changed into shorts as I'm about to head into school and help ds class do a bug hunt!

Next time I fantasy shop I'm going to see if I can pick out anything for anyone and see if I'm as good as liberty. Probably not as I've never met anyone!

Annianni Tue 09-Jul-13 13:18:20

Yes of course I've tried the Newbury boots grin

They are very nice, small fitting (i thought) and too high for me, for day to day.

Also, there was too much leather on the front part of my foot, so they looked a bit loose/too big.

Whereas the All Saints boots fit better, are very similar and half the price.

I think Grumpy has some from Shopbop.

Annianni Tue 09-Jul-13 13:23:09

I found with a few different boots, they seek to be cut for people with a high instep... so they look a bit baggy on me.

I probably would buy some Newbury's if they fit me though, because they are lovely irl.

Welcome Ruby.

Annianni Tue 09-Jul-13 13:30:14

We've just fed 5 adorable cygnet's /signet's (sp??) baby swans. grin
They've grown quite a bit, and are all fluffy.
And the parent swans aren't vicious if you go near them, unlike when they were newborn.

MrsRadicchio Tue 09-Jul-13 13:31:26

I actually own that skirt shop !! I love chinti & parker stuff, am quite keen on a few of the outnet bits.

Annianni Tue 09-Jul-13 13:31:30

Seem to be...

LinusDKD Tue 09-Jul-13 13:36:32

ruby welcome! I like those boots but I think the tan coloured heels would bother me [superfussy]

There is some lovely stuff on the Outnet but I must not buy anything until we go to NY.

Which reminds me I need to slowly start packing and it's freaking me out. Before and after NY we will be staying at my DP and DPIL for a couple of days and then we are at the seaside for two weeks so we will be gone for four weeks in total.

We be able to wash our clothes regularly so I shouldn't be packing too much but even so, I will have to pack for all kinds of weather and with two DC we will have to take along a lot of crap. We are going to DP and DPIL by car and I can alreday see the boot filled to the brim.

I HATE packing! <off to write 1001 lists>

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 13:36:36

Boom! So I was right MrsR - I could so see you in it! I'm quite tempted myself...... <must remember shopping ban>
Off to the do the ironing hmm

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 13:37:31

You'll have to let us know your capsule holiday wardrobe Linus

LinusDKD Tue 09-Jul-13 13:49:38

I am RUBBISH at capsule wardrobes shop!

I usually put all the clothes I need want to take on the bed and when I realise it's never going to fit in the suitcase I start to cull so half of it is left.

And when DH starts to put everything in the suitcase, another quarter gets left behind... blush

rubylovesshopping Tue 09-Jul-13 13:59:16

Linus you are right the heel would feel too summery for winter which is when I would wear them most. Needs to be darker. Have been wanting some navy boots for ages. Will investigate all saints although have had quality issues with all saints stuff in the past.

LinusDKD Tue 09-Jul-13 14:05:09

I am not impressed with Jack Wills!

About a month ago I ordered a cardigan and when I still hadn't received it after three weeks I e-mailed them to see what had happened.

They wrote back saying that because it was an international delivery I should give it another week but that the parcel had left their warehouse.

So when the cardigan still hadn't arrived I e-mailed again and they said they were going to investigate and asked whether I wanted a replacement sent or a refund on a gift voucher.

I chose a replacement cardigan but guess what? It's OOS and now they offer me a gift voucher or another item from their website. Grrr.

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 14:35:46

Can't a cobbler paint the heels Ruby ?

Annianni Tue 09-Jul-13 14:44:41

One of the all worn out ladies has darkened wooden heels. I was going to look for the post.

I know MrsCb dyed some Newburys recently, but I think it was someone else who dyed the heels darker.

libertychick Tue 09-Jul-13 14:47:56

Why won't they just give a straight refund Linus? That's rubbish.

QueenC good idea to downgrade the dress - get the wear I say! I have so few summer clothes but really don't want to invest in them - we are planning to relocate to Oz eventually so once we know when that is going to happen I'll start buying nice summer things.

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 15:07:57

In fact didn't 40bum dye the heels?

rubylovesshopping Tue 09-Jul-13 15:09:19

Going to look into how to do it/ get it done. They would be perfect with darker heels.

libertychick Tue 09-Jul-13 15:20:18

MarshaBrady Tue 09-Jul-13 15:34:46

Well spotted Shop.

I am not doing a third pair <mantra>. grin

MarshaBrady Tue 09-Jul-13 15:35:17

Oh I love that Liberty!

Annianni Tue 09-Jul-13 16:12:25

Liberty grin

It might have been Shop, I remember someone did it with furniture wood stain or something similar...

Annianni Tue 09-Jul-13 16:13:09

I might do my All Saints ones, before I wear them.

Annianni Tue 09-Jul-13 16:16:10

But you've got lovely slim legs Marsha, you can wear Pistol's <sob>
And third time lucky and all that!
They were so not flattering on me grin

mignonette Tue 09-Jul-13 16:18:19

I'm flying back tonight so will hopefully get a chance to talk fashion with you all later on. Baby continuing to improve and we are cautiously hopeful...

Finding something to wear cool and comfortable enough for even a short flight has been interesting as packed in such a hurry and flurry of 'couldn't care less' which is so not me...Have resorted to city shorts in charcoal grey, a navy and cream geometric print sleeveless shirt and my silver Edelman sandals. Am hoping the backs of my legs do not stick too much to the leather BA seats!

See you all soon

MarshaBrady Tue 09-Jul-13 16:38:16

Ah thanks Anni! they are rather handy aren't they.
I just wear them out so quickly. And the last ones were suede and got so marked. I love the pale ones but they'd most likely be wrecked in no time.

Actually Shop found the second pair, reduced, and I ordered at midnight. I remember it made me jump. grin

Good luck Mignonette leather seat stick is the worst. Glad to hear all is still good.

Hello everyone....fab weather !
One so lovely to go down a size, well done with your diet.
Grumpy I do think the opposite is sometimes the see something (cheap) styled well on a blog and it's great isn't it?
Liberty grin at MNV t shirt!
QueenC like you. I'm now desperate for high summer casual dresses! Have just found a cotton dress I the depths of my over spill wardrobe the one I haven't told you about, for things that should really be binned but can't quite bring myself yet...lots of suits circa 1996 that really must go .

Liberty love the dress game.
These are my criteria:

Fitted but not clingy.
Feminine but not fussy.
Round neck/slash neck best for flat chest.
Any sleeve length. Like showing shoulders and really love 3/4 .
Just above the knee.
Any colour ESP greens and blues, never fushia pink or garish purple.

Just in case you were wondering.

Trying to put off ironing...too hot

Oh and Mig was it you who said when PMT hits women need carbs.....I blame YOU for the Magnun then!!!grin. Have a safe trip.

And Shop remember the record breaking ironing pile you had? I have realised that 4(!!!!!) yrs ago I bough DH a pair if Boden chinos, they have been hanging from my bedroom curtain pole waiting to be shortened ever since, so much so that they have become part of the window dressing!grin

Thank you dry I'm really chuffed as it means one less thing I have to buy this year and since all my money is going towards music lessons at the minute, any saving is a bonus. Lovely news mig hope you have a safe and not too uncomfortable flight home

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 17:25:35

Marsha that was my first time that someone bought something I'd linked to! I felt super special! grin
Liberty we wouldn't miss each other at a MU in that!
I deserve wine tonight - have done all of my ironing apart from those napkins!
Mig glad things are improving still. PM me when you're back?
Not sure if I can get away with Pistols but I love these so perhaps one day I'll upgrade....

mignonette Tue 09-Jul-13 17:32:11

T'is my fault re Magnum Dry. Yes carbs=serotonin!!!!
I have plenty of new ideas ofr ice cream creation- the Germans have some interesting flavours....
I'll PM you Shop

Looking at the Chanel A/W slide show on Harpers Bazaar site- those clothes are divine and perfect for me but alas not my income bracket sad. Love the kilts, blacks and greys for Winter.

I have ordered some gold now really in the club! Due to arrive tomorrow .

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 17:48:11

Link Dry?

Annianni Tue 09-Jul-13 17:54:01

Yea! Well done Dry.
I love my silver ones.

Whatever happened to Jo Whiley (winefairy)?

Annianni Tue 09-Jul-13 17:54:46

Safe flight Mig.

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 18:07:22

I don't know Anni - she disappeared sad

LinusDKD Tue 09-Jul-13 18:21:38

Safe flight mig and I'm happy your niece is making good progress.

I can't be arsed at the moment to fight with Jack Wills about a proper refund so I'll have to choose something from their website, which is difficult as I'm not really their target market.

I saw a couple of belts that look ok so I'll probably go for those and chalk this one up to experience.

one I can't wait to fit into some of my old clothes. I have nearly lost 2 kilos so I'm not quite there yet, but it's a start.

LinusDKD Tue 09-Jul-13 18:39:56
shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 18:45:31

She's got a cracking pair of legs! How old is she?

Decameron Tue 09-Jul-13 19:09:18

Mignonette, I am delighted that your niece has a fighting chance now. Bon voyage.

Good news about your FIL, Paris.

Gigis were one of my best summer buys, Dry. Has your H&M top arrived? Mine came yesterday, I like it.

I bought another dress from Me & Em, this one. The fit is great but one of the Avid & Wise ladies has offered hers to me in navy, which was the colour I wanted but was sold out, so I returned it.

Anything from Me & Em's winter range will do nicely, thanks, Liberty!

I saw the DVF top I was hankering after was further reduced so put it on DH's credit card. smile

Anni, glad the boot quest was successful. I was annoyed I missed the Newbury boots but sounds like they'd be too high for me for day too. My friend's boots arrived, luckily it is so sunny I am not tempted to wear them before I bring them to Dublin for her!

That is annoying they won't just refund you, Linus.

LinusDKD Tue 09-Jul-13 19:30:22

shop according to French Wiki she was born in 1967.

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 19:37:58

Love that dress Decameron and the colour of the DVF is just gorgeous!

voilà les gigis dorées bit bling for some but will work well in my wardrobe. I have silver flat sandals already.
No Decameron it hasn't arrived yet, maybe tomorrow. Are you happy with yours?

shopafrolic Tue 09-Jul-13 20:32:07

Tres belle! Not sure where my accents are on an iPad!

LinusDKD Tue 09-Jul-13 20:34:00

You keep pushing on the letter you want and then the letter with all the accents appear.

Very nice Gigis! <sits on hands>

very nice dry

One click shopping is leathal!

Or lethal that is (oops)

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Tue 09-Jul-13 21:41:39

Oooh - another lurker to lure into our lair! Come in, come in <beckoning in a witchlike fashion>

Tis me who has the navy Newburys. I haven't even looked at them on the Outnet - please tell me they're not too cheap...I did buy them 40% off myself though, so I shouldn't complain.

Spending ban is going abysmally. Thanks to following links through Asos I ended up somehow buying not just the lovely Maison Scotch T, but also the very practical boots and jeans I don't really need. Now, thanks to seeing v stylish (and beautiful) girl at the races this evening, I am now hankering after something like these. Looked at Tods, but these are similar enough without being as £££. Have I lost my mind?

Hi everyone, sorry I have been AWOL the last couple of days, very busy with stuff, from the summer fair on Sunday (glad that's over with for another year), then tennis grin, then a drive to Hereford with DS1 to stay with my DM then on to Wales to visit my grandad on his 93rd birthday yesterday. Today been busy with the DS's and it has taken me about an hour to catch up with you all on here!

The MU on Saturday was fab, everybody looked gorgeous and it was a wonderful way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon. So lovely to meet Liberty and MrsR for the first time and to catch up with Shop, Marsha and Novice. Shop, in answer to your eyeliner q, I think it was the sparkly one out of this Bobbi Brown set.

Mignon - so pleased to hear your news about your niece, that is a wonderful change of prognosis, I wish her all the best.

Paris that is also fantastic news on your FIL, you must all be so pleased and relieved smile.

Novice - well done on finally getting the bank account sorted, now you can really get started. Amazing stuff.

Liberty I am so impressed with your dress choices shock - I absolutely love mine! Wish I had somewhere I could wear it!

Shop you obviously get the silver medal for selecting that skirt for MrsR that she already has you think we may be getting to know each other a bit too well hmmgrin

How do you ladies find ASOS clothing fits? Is it on the small side or more generous? I've been having a look for new dresses but am hesitating as I've never ordered from them before and have no idea how they usually fit.

Grumpy fab purchases and the orange moccasins are great with denim and would be lovely with white too. I say go for it!

sleep I'm looking for cycling shorts (for gym obv) that don't go thin and see through.....any recommendations or is this just what happens when you are a top athlete ? grin

One I think err on selecting the larger size if in doubt with ASOS as I think it is a young target market, less vanity sizing going on grin

Dry I think you can't go wrong with Nike but Sweaty Betty is very good and has more interesting designs going on if you are bothered - more ££ though.

libertychick Tue 09-Jul-13 22:48:17

It's been ages since I seriously exercised (ie to the point of wearing out gym gear!!) but agree with Sleep that Nike is good - I have shorts and running leggings that have stood the test of time.

One definitely size up with Asos I think. I am 36 inches exactly around the bust and their size 12 T-shirts fit nicely but no room for complacency with the diet!

Glad you liked the dress Sleep - you would look fab in it! Fantasy shopping for others is so much fun.

Dry I have noted the requirements - will get onto it!

Liberty best not tempt me!wink

Thanks, will perhaps look at their plus size range then, though I often find that I can fit in the top end of 'normal' sizes, I do sometimes venture into plus sizes if something catches my eye. It's such a shame though that the large (haha) majority of plus size clothing is hideous, so much glitter and unnecessary frills I find.

libertychick Tue 09-Jul-13 23:21:43

Sorry Dry I have already looked!! Either classic DVF or Erdem to be a bit more adventurous

libertychick Tue 09-Jul-13 23:28:42

Grumpy do feedback on the chelsea boots when you get them - they look good.

noviceoftheday Wed 10-Jul-13 07:22:22

Morning all. Work dinner in Mayfair so late home last night. I had 2 courses and so was stuffed!

I wore my maxmara ciro dress Yesterday. It was amazing. Virtually every person I met complimented me on a great dress. I used my mulberry bays water, which is fab because it is different to your usual mulberry. I also wore my fab atwoods. Happy days. Thank you to MNV for inspiring me to get such a great dress.

The dress liberty chose for me is gorgeous. I can happily say that at that price, the credit card will be staying firmly wedged in the pursegrin also, where would I wear it too? I would be stuffed on a cost per wear basis!

Sleep sent me a link to a stunning dress. Looks like great cut and shape for me. Amazing colour, but I am not confident as to how long summer will last so I will just sigh and pass. sad

On good news front, Selfridges finally credited my account with the £2k. The whole thing has been totally stressful. Lesson learned. Rather than quietly returning the dirty cardigan, I should have phoned and screeched down the phone as soon as the package arrived. hmm I did another return last week for about £1k, including the gorgeous Herve leger dress <sob>.

Today, I am meeting with my charity partner about kindergarten supplies! Another gorgeous day, what will I wear?

Annianni Wed 10-Jul-13 07:41:16

Love that pink dress Novice.

Ds2 went to bed with just his nappy on, plenty of cream and nails freshly cut. Me and dh managed to wake him after 10 mins, so he was then up till after 10, and has scratched himself so much he's bled on the sheets.
Back to the drawing board...

I didn't get to sleep till after 2, so I feel great today hmm

And I may have ordered 2 coats to try late last night they are wool and a bargainous £55 in the sale, so that's my excuse anyway but then remembered that dh is off Friday and Monday, so chances are he'll be here when they arrive... and he'll think I really have lost the plot, ordering coats in this weather grin

Morning by the way...

Poor DS Ani my sister used to be similar with the scratching thing, she used to get sent to bed with socks on her hands! My mum found that not just cutting my sisters nails but also filing them, like a proper manicure minus the nail painting, helped a lot.

Gosh that's horrid Anni poor little thing.

Novice fantastic outfit......really love the dress, shoes, bag....if I'd seen you I'd have had to say something!

Liberty bingo! I'd defo wear both of those dresses. Lovely.

Gigis due today.

The Nancy visa bill arrived and I've been really restrained ( with the occasional supermarket or Amazon hiccup that don't count because they are on the joint acc! wink ).... Feel quite virtuous. Am learning.

Hi all, that outfit sounds amazing Novice!

Off to Legoland today, just DH and I taking DS1, haven't told him yet, he is going to be sooo excited grin, just have to drop other two to school first!

LinusDKD Wed 10-Jul-13 09:07:33

That dress is so beautiful novice, I really like MaxMara

anni your poor DS! Could installing a fan or airconditioning in his room work so the heat doesn't make the itching worse?

shopafrolic Wed 10-Jul-13 09:26:51

Anni will PM you x
One have PM'd you too
Morning all. Off to see my fabulous make up artist friend for lunch today with DS in tow. Hoping to pick her brains about latest products..... Am wearing Whistles khaki dress, probably Gigis......

foxysocks Wed 10-Jul-13 09:44:59

novice that pink dress is amazing.

anni so sorry you are struggling with your little one at nights. can you tape socks over his hands?

sleep have fun today!

I have absolute DEARTH of warm weather options. today wore denim shorts and cream AV tank (which is a size too big so had to do some clever tucking) and pale gold havs for SR.

I am def in market for a summer dress if this weather continues. am totes in love with the acne have posted before but a. too expensive and b. polyester <sweaty>

I taught again last night, am loving it and the feedback is so great so am feeling super positive today grin. only downside of teaching late is I can't get up early to practice myself, so need to do it now hence missing valuable sun time. oh well, win some loose some.

has anyone bought from vestaire collective? am wondering about it in order to get my dream bag but am wary of second hand/lack of return options. any thoughts?

LinusDKD Wed 10-Jul-13 10:13:55

My polka dot Marc by Marc Jacobs scarf has finally arrived and it is gorgeous!

It is super soft and a lovely colour, shame it's too hot to wear it at the moment.

mignonette Wed 10-Jul-13 10:23:01

Hello everybody. Glad to be back and i'm going to plunge straight in as there's so much to catch up on so please forgive me for missing anybody out.

Grumpy Orange is one of my go to colours and is easier to work with than people sometimes think.

Liberty The Erdem print will transcend trend I think as the print is adaptable and can be placed at the forefront of the outfit or 'calmed down' by what is worn with it. There are some prints (the baroque for example) that I see as more transient. Like the DVF but not as much.

Shop I need a really good waterproof eyeliner that is not a gel. I have blocked Mebomian glands in my eyelids and my opthalmologist consultant believes there may be issues with gels causing blockages and research is needed. Can your friend (or anybody on here) help prevent panda eye melting by recommending a pencil? I like black, dark browns and dark greys. I wear contacts but mainly glasses at moment because of complications last year resulting in bilateral corneal ulceration.

DeCameron - that DVF is so Summery. I bet it would look great next to a tan in the evening light. I can see it with Swedish Hasbeens or other tan sandals and a shortish embellished skirt, grey, navy city shorts or Indigo denim shorts/skorts.....Will work for the coming Winter too with the new long skirts.

Anni Isn't eczema quite the beast? DD had it until she was around 8/9 and it was such a challenge in the warmer weather. Keeping nails super soft, short and very clean is my best advice to stop infections in scratched skin, referral to Dermatology sooner rather than later, putting a cool fan in the bedroom directed onto the skin and specialist flat seamed sleepwear when needed. I also used to smear a little antiseptic cream under her nails in case she scratched.

Foxy - glad to hear positive effect on your mood. So good to get skills validated isn't it?

On the Summer clothing debate, I always slightly resent buying too many warm weather stuff as i'm not that comfortable showing flesh (even just bare legs) and love the A/W options more. Layering is my thing. I hate my skirt blowing up too. Get really anxious about it. The weather is slightly less bright today but still warm and ominously suggestive of humidity later which makes me really grumpy. I am going to have to give in to HRT I think as having vicious hot flashes that are embarrassing. So today (when I get dressed!) I'm having a gardening day so what to put on? Old indigo shorts, an old Liberty Tana Lawn grey/white print cap sleeved shirt and Espies. I have trashed so many pairs of Espadrilles so far this year and these ones will be a soggy old mess by tonight. I never wear appropriate shoes for gardening! The redcurrants are ripe and I made a redcurrant and Chambord Pavlova for my Brother before I left as their redcurrants/whitecurrants are even riper than mine are. here it is just to torture you all!

Novice I really like that bag- what leather is it? It looks a little shimmery so good choice for evening! Bags like that can take an outfit from work to play.

In a queue through Windsor, v impatient DS1 in car!

Foxy I love that Acne, try it. I would say that the maxi I liked in Anna looked like floaty silk but was in fact quite heavy poly, quite different to wear in hot weather!

mignonette Wed 10-Jul-13 10:31:57

Linus did Marc Scarf come from the Outnet? I scored a total bargain a couple of Winters ago buying three cotton jersey MJ scarves-two multi stripes and one Graffiti print for £20 approx each. Gave one to my sis who is obsessed with MJ. Also bought her a fabric aztec print tote for £40 last summer too.

mignonette Wed 10-Jul-13 11:11:31

Having had a peruse, here are some of my possibles..

and because this looks very much like the Chanel styles this coming A/W;

I really like this Antonio Maras skirt;

The jury is still out on this leather Skater skirt;

this L'Agence red shirt;

a green lizard clutch;

and a Crippen vented grey top.

Think they'll all mix and match pretty well but need talking through the red leather skirt as i am not a leather separates person usually. Bit concerned about the heat/hot flushes...

noviceoftheday Wed 10-Jul-13 11:46:26

Massive hugs to you Anni. Poor baby.thanks

Mig, welcome back! I think the bag is suede. It feels all soft and is slouchy. It was actually one of dh's Xmas presents to me from 2 years ago and I didn't like it at first so hardly used it. He's quite chuffed to see me using it 2 days today, I am wearing a belted red dress so the bag goes well with it. Vampy red nails (which need redoing but didn't have timeblush) my lovely £6 silver necklace with red rose on it, magnolia silver flower watch and noodles ring - all from Saturday. I am also wearing a garnet bracelet. It's silver with linking clusters of garnet. Quite simple but v pretty. Dh bought for me about 10 years ago in Prague.

mignonette Wed 10-Jul-13 12:00:53

I love Garnets. I have a Garnet signet ring from my Mother that I do not wear as scared of losing it. I lost a gorgeous apricot Brazilian Opal she gave me and a natural pearl ring too sad. Your outfit sounds lovely Novice

QueenCadbury Wed 10-Jul-13 13:42:24

Hello all.

mig welcome back. That dessert looks lush and I don't even like pavlova. I have really cut back on my food intake this week and started my fitness pal again to keep check of it. I have a stubborn 2 or 3 lbs that I need to lose. May not sound a lot but it all sticks around my waist and tummy. Your sweats sound a nightmare andi can understand that it's a big decision about whether to go on hrt or not.

I've had to give into the spending ban and order some shorts. Just some basic stone ones from fat face so nothing wildly exciting. I would have loved another dress but can't find anything online that I like and as much as I love dresses, on the days I have dd at home shorts are a much more practical option.

Haven't had a chance to catch up with all the links yet but will try and do so later.

QueenCadbury Wed 10-Jul-13 13:45:03

anni if you haven't already definately get a referral to dermatologist/excema specialist. Dd's friend has dreadful excema and was often missing school due to it becoming infected but since referral and consistent advice it has been much better managed and has significantly reduced her absences from school.

mignonette Wed 10-Jul-13 14:40:21

I have some lovely photos of baby niece with her daddy if anybody would like to PM me their email addresses. She's having another CT as there is some concerns over a lack of leg movement and her hips need looking at also so another brain, spine and leg CT. Fingers crossed for that. But she responds beautifully to her dad's voice.

I cannot find the addresses I had from last week- must have deleted them in the confusion.

Anni I will ask my Dermo relative for any advice re your DD.

Annianni Wed 10-Jul-13 15:07:37

Thanks for all the advice.
I use doublebase morning and night on ds2.
I have 1% hydrocortisone and fucidin h (sp) for any patches.

It's the back of his calves that are bad at the moment.
I put some hydrocortisone on before while he slept.

We did find that he's allergic to garlic and tomatoes.
So have cut those out of his diet.

When I asked the doctor about allergy testing, I was told they won't because of his age.
He's now 2.3

Mig delicious looking pud!
Like the Crippen grey jumper a lot, quirky .
Someone braver fashion wise will let u know about the red leather skirt.
QueenC saw your Monsoon dress today.....was on my way to try it on when a little voice reminded me I'm on a spending ban and have a lot of blue dresses. Lovely.
Tried on loads of white linen dresses....all so see through which I hate. One lovely, very "me", lined too in Gap ......but do I really need a white dress?( remember white skinnies were on for about 10 mins when I spilled tea on them!) Can't find a link but it was really lovely.

this is not the lovely dress but I tried it on. Looked as if I was wearing a sheet or hospital gown! Hideous, infact I laughed in the fitting room, lady next door took a peek.......we bonded!

mignonette Wed 10-Jul-13 16:34:46

That would look tres affreux on me too. I love shirt dresses but cannot wear those styles that pouff around the belt Dry. That dress does look like a Hollywood interpretation of an old asylum nightie.

I have had many a hysterical outburst in dressing rooms, the last involving a Carmen Miranda replica peering back at me in the mirror when I made the mistake of trying on a Cavalli dress. My sister sat on the floor and simply howled with laughter.

I don't do waist pouffing either and it was HUGE!grin

Of all places, I picked up a load of 100% cotton vests in PRIMARK! Had to size down in them to a 12 rather than a 16 as they are very stretchy but the colours are vibrant and they fit well. Since they are priced at £2 each, I am going back tomorrow for one of every colour and some multiples of my favourite colours!. I'm sure I gaped a little and made a high pitched squealing noise when I read the label to see what they were made of.

mignonette Wed 10-Jul-13 17:30:10

You can get some well made stuff there and in Peacocks. With T shirts and vests it is often better to buy inexpensive as I am unconvinced of the benefits of spending more than £40 on a T. I bought DS's GF a beautiful white cotton sundress from Peacocks a few weeks ago and it is really beautifully made. Would make me look like a relic from Woodstocke but on her-lovely.

I have no problem shopping around in the lower end of the high street, it just is a surprise to get decent material instead of the usual viscose you find in primark and the like. Even cheap things can look chic if you style them right smile

mignonette Wed 10-Jul-13 17:39:45

Exactly. And fresh new vests and t shirts are da bomb (very sad apeing of the modern idiom here)...grin

LinusDKD Wed 10-Jul-13 18:19:22

I like the Antonio Maras skirt a lot and even though I am not an adventurous dresser (that's an understatement) I do like the leather skirt.

If you have the right body shape I think it will be a real investment piece.

I already pinned a clutch from that website and I am going to have a proper browse this evening as I hadn't heard of it before.

I downloaded the kindle edition of Grace Coddington's memoirs yesterday so that's next on my reading list. Finishing Dara O'Briain's Tickling the English first.

My favourite layering vests are from H&M (many people on S&B recommended them) and I love them. I bought them in loads of colours because they are so reasonably priced and they are cotton with a tiny bit of elasthane.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 10-Jul-13 18:23:15

Popped into Primark myself today for some PJs for DD2. I know they have some great bits and pieces, but I hate the shop itself. It's like a huge, chaotic jumble sale and I just can't be bothered sorting through everything, so I seldom look at much. Shame really, because I've had some brilliant buys from there (although mainly from Penney's in Ireland).
The Equipment shirt arrived today - excellent quality, lovely drape and the yellow is more zingy and vibrant than it looked on t'internet, which is a good thing. I'm really happy with it. The Asos package arrived too and I'm going to try on later. I did try on one of the boots quickly and, while it's nice, I'd say it's slightly on the roomy side. A size down may be too small, but I'll put both on together and try them out properly. It wasn't so big that it felt slippy, just roomy.

Almost bought these today because they felt great quality and I really liked them. Bottled it at the last minute though, on account of fear of mutton. What do you think?

noviceoftheday Wed 10-Jul-13 18:39:19

I love them grumpy

LinusDKD Wed 10-Jul-13 18:39:22

mig this is the MbMJ polka dot scarf

I bought it at a discount on Gilt, but nowhere near as good a bargain as your scarves.

LinusDKD Wed 10-Jul-13 18:40:04

grumpy if you have the legs, go for it! Channel your inner Kate Moss! wink

LinusDKD Wed 10-Jul-13 18:46:14

For shop

LinusDKD Wed 10-Jul-13 18:47:14

Crapola, just saw it is sold out. Why don't they make it more obvious? Sorry shop

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 10-Jul-13 18:58:14

Really nice bracelet though Linus. I've got the Stella and Dot Renegade, which is similar in silver (and currently awaiting gold too).

Yep Grumpy worn in your chic way not mutton at all....get then, you'll wear them a lot.

MarshaBrady Wed 10-Jul-13 19:56:13

Evening everyone. Had some good work type stuff news today. Flexible working option (which would be much better as from home etc) will see what happens. Plus I like the agency and people which is great.

Looking forward to catching up after dc in bed!

shopafrolic Wed 10-Jul-13 19:58:06

Anni not sure if you got my PM but DS used to have hydrocortisone and Fucidin, it's the one I emailed you that has made the real difference......
Linus LOVE that - I love that you've got a handle on my taste even though we've never met - still love that scarf you PM'd me too.
Too many links for me to catch up on.
Lovely day with my make up artist friend. I didn't see your post about eyeliner to ask her but I use Chanel waterproof eyeliner with no issues Mig
I did ask her how to stop my concealer bunching up under my eyes and she said to try Laura Mercier primer....... Am seeing her again in a few weeks and she says we can hit Space NK together and try some things out!
Dry I'm just about to EBay a white linen dress from Kookai if you want to take a look? You'll have to PM your email address again!

shopafrolic Wed 10-Jul-13 20:07:32

Way to many loves and lovelies in my last post. Sorry. <must try harder>

QueenCadbury Wed 10-Jul-13 20:09:18

anni when dd had exczema really bad on the backs of her knees I took her to the gp who diagnosed a fungal infection which miconazole cleared up.

QueenCadbury Wed 10-Jul-13 20:17:37

Like * grumpy* I wish I had more patience with primark. Although my local one is not too jumble sale like if you go first thing in the morning, it is huge and you really have to root through the tat to find the gems. Did you know primark now has a concession in selfridges?

My internet is being slow so not all the links are opening fast enough for my liking! I did see grumpys trousers though and I say go for it.

My poor dd has a cough worthy of a 60 a day habit. Think it could be a restless night...

noviceoftheday Wed 10-Jul-13 20:35:36

Marsha, ooh interesting! Tell us moresmile

shop, everyone raves about Laura mercier primer. I would also say nars primer as I haven't used the LM one. Really makes a difference to how my make up stays in place.

In charity news, i now have 2 charities that are willing to work with my one as they have people on the ground. Both have been going about 6/8 years. The smaller charity has income of about £50k per year and the larger one has income of £100k. The smaller one has asked me to be a trustee which is pretty cool! Next week we are taking delivery of some of the student supplies eg 400 exercise books. We are doing an assessment of the school next week so I will be spending this evening writing up the questions I want them to ask, videos and pictures I want and the observations. I am very excited about it all as its getting real. I have a major meeting tomorrow so busy day ahead. I am supposed to be taking it easy right now because the autumn looks like a disaster. 3 trips to the US, one Far East and a couple of European tripsshock having said that my poor colleague has had to fly to New York today for a 2 hour meeting. Flew today, back in the morning.shockshockshock

Last bit of fashion news....I saw the video i shot. I look nice, the outfit worked but I hate how stilted I sound. sad

Novice that sounds amazing ! But how the heck do you do it all? Hope you're going to have a holiday this summer before you jet off again to recharge your batteries!

noviceoftheday Wed 10-Jul-13 20:47:29

Dry, dh is muttering that he is getting a bit worried. He is pursing his lips a bit as after the big event last month I was seriously fatigued as it was the culmination of 4 back to back type high stress projects over a 9 month period.

Dh and I are supposed to be having a weekend away but I can't seem to find somewhere. If anyone wants to find me a romantic weekend break...!grin

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 10-Jul-13 20:52:40

Sounds v busy Novice, but great that you're getting so much accomplished. Don't worry about the way you sound - it always sounds weird to hear your own voice from outside the confines of your own head but nobody else will think that. And I'm sure you did look fab!

Just had a try on of everything - the boots are fine and well worth the bargainous price. They look better in the reflection of the mirror than they do looking down upon them - keepers.
The Maison Scotch T is luvverly, but the real triumph are the Pepe jeans. The best-fitting, comfiest and sexiest jeans ever with shading in just the right places and sooo super soft. I can see me wearing them to death and I love their faded grey-ness. And now you lot are trying to enable me to buy the snake print zipped trews. After bloody Dry convinced me very convincingly to buy the orange moccasins. As I said, spending ban a total disaster, although in my defence most of what I've bought recently would adapt very well to AW and is not summery at all. <clutching at straws>

Decameron Wed 10-Jul-13 20:54:11

Mignonette, welcome back. I love all the skirts in your link in particular. And the pavlova, yum yum.

My friend thinks the DVF blouse is a bit Nana goes to bingo but we shall see!

Exciting news about the charity, Novice, and that it is all coming together. Your pink dress and cage heels outfit sound amazing.

Funny about the dress, Dry! I tried on the H&M blouse, I like the buttons down the back but it is hard to close and too similar to the MrsCB blouse, so I returned it and ordered this skirt and top instead. I am wearing the black version of the skirt now, really flattering (I think, don't have a full length mirror though so may be deluded).

Gorgeous scarf, Linus.

I would take DS to the GP, Anni, DD2 has also had a fungal infection which looked like eczema.

Hope your DD sleeps tonight, QueenC and I think the shorts were an absolute necessity!

Decameron Wed 10-Jul-13 20:55:05

Grumpy the adapting to AW purchases are my excuse too. grinJeans sound fab.

Decameron Wed 10-Jul-13 20:56:44

Shop I have used a couple of different primers incl. the Laura Mercier one but the best I've found so far is Garnier 5 second perfect blur.

I have no patience with Primark but love H&M, especially for the DDs.

Stressful couple of days, BIL was taken into hospital yesterday and the results of the lumbar puncture are showing that it's likely that he's had a brain hemorrhage. Waiting to hear more news from SIL, shes at the hospital now waiting on MRI results. sad

Hee hee Grumpy glad you got the moccasins ! Have you tried them with white?

Decameron H and M blouse still not arrived (grrrr) but, after nearly dislocating shoulder trying to do up a buttons up the back top I had on today, will have to think carefully about it.

Where do you fancy Novice? Uk?

Oh my god One that's sorry.

QueenCadbury Wed 10-Jul-13 21:19:30

Oh no one is he ok?

QueenCadbury Wed 10-Jul-13 21:21:29

novice I really don't know how you do it.

Give us more idea about the romantic break. Uk? Abroad? Sure we can come up with something. Didn't someone post some good suggestions ages ago...? Can't remember who it was or where it was for though!

shopafrolic Wed 10-Jul-13 21:28:40

Really sorry to hear that One

noviceoftheday Wed 10-Jul-13 21:30:04

Oh One, your poor bilthanks poor all of you. x

MRI scan has been done, just waiting on the results being examined and should know more tomorrow. He's obviously being kept in the hospital for now but it's appears that it's been caught early which gives him the best possible chance of coming through ok. thank you for all your good wishes thanks

noviceoftheday Wed 10-Jul-13 21:45:24

Romantic break.... The reason why i am having trouble is that I am a divablush. it has to be within a 3 hour flight from London or in the UK. If its abroad, it has l be BA or someone similar. I don't do easy jet, Ryan air etc. has to be a 5 star hotel. Ooh in the midst of writing this I just had a brain wave and might have thought of somewhere!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 10-Jul-13 21:52:19

oooh, give us a clue Novice!

I've moved onto Florence as a possible short break for DH and I for our 20th anniversary in Sept, although Paris not completely discounted.

noviceoftheday Wed 10-Jul-13 22:02:01

Omg Grumpy! Florence is where I am thinkinggrin

2 hours 7 mins from London. I have just been looking at this hotel

shopafrolic Wed 10-Jul-13 22:06:03

Can I come in your suitcase Novice? I promise I'll be ever so quiet! grin

Is there space for me in the suitcase as well, I'm only small and quiet as a mouse. You won't even know I'm there grin

noviceoftheday Wed 10-Jul-13 22:17:57

gringrin at One and Shop. I think dh might err not appreciate your presence!!

shopafrolic Wed 10-Jul-13 22:19:38

it looks beautiful Novice - just perfect!

Book it Novice it looks gorgeous. Shop and One I'll meet you at Heathrow with my little suitcase, perhaps we could share one of the green house suites!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 10-Jul-13 22:27:25

Nice Novice, bookmarked.

I can't believe we both came up with the same place! Let me know how everything is if you go before I do (late Sept).

libertychick Wed 10-Jul-13 22:39:40

Sorry to hear that one - fingers crossed he will be ok.

Marsha great news about work - see if you hadn't quit the first one you wouldn't be in the position to consider this one!

Dec I have just ordered both those Me&Em items thanks to your links!!! They should pay you commission smile. I am ever so slightly nervous about the skirt and what it might do to my saddlebags but at 70% off its worth a punt.

Novice I am with you on Ryanair/Easyjet...detest them. I am so over Raynair I refuse to fly to Knock in the west of Ireland which is quite close to where I am from and instead fly with Aer Lingus to Dublin, hire a car and drive for 3.5/4 hours!!!

For a luxury, romantic weekend have a look at Ballyfin in Laois in Ireland - ££££ but amazing. It's about 1.5 hour drive from Dublin airport.

libertychick Wed 10-Jul-13 22:44:48

Linus I love that MbMJ scarf - gorgeous!

Mignon lovely selection of A/W clothes - I like the leather skirt. How would you style it? I think the fact it is flared should mean it doesn't create too many issues with overheated moments, as long as the waist isn't too tight.

I have fallen utterly in love with a cheapy, post box red maxi skirt. I know the size of my arse should put me off buying and wearing it but I.MUST.HAVE.IT. Is it so wrong? Is it?

MarshaBrady Wed 10-Jul-13 23:13:34

One I'm so sorry to hear about your Bil. I hope he is ok.

Novice that hotel is divine. How exciting about the charity.

Lovely skirts Mignonette

Grumpy go for it.

Sleep will do that thing in the morning now!

Liberty that is gorgeous too.

On the work thing, I did lots of freelance for one agency last year. Lasted quite a long time, was good stuff. But I did find it a bit hard to switch off on the days I wasn't working (and thought hmm maybe I should be paid on these days in an office!). But realised after that last one that it is better for me to work from home so emailed them to say hi. So the whole job thing was a good push in the end. Depends on a few things happening (winning projects), but might happen.

I know them and the ciients and it's nice work. So will be happy if it happens.

Just watched last episode of Mad Men season 6. Very good.

libertychick Wed 10-Jul-13 23:17:32

Sounds like you should 'buy and try' one. I think maxi skirts are better than maxi dresses for the non willowy among us. What is the fabric and design? You want something that skims the curves.

It's a viscose mix and high waisted with a slight amount of billowing. Will give in and purchase but if it doesn't suit will return it for a refund. After the horror of the last few days, i think a little pick me up is deserved

libertychick Wed 10-Jul-13 23:27:30

Excellent one - you will have to report back - hope it's perfect and gives you a lift!

Will report back tomorrow, I am going into town early to do a little shopping, I prefer to go early in the day as there's less people around, the racks and shelves are tidier and I'm less likely to pick something up that someone's already tried on and left orange foundation marks on! Going to try my luck in the house of fraser outlet again as well, picked up a silk DKNY square silk scarf in there the other day for £6, it makes a perfect hair band when folded up grin

LinusDKD Thu 11-Jul-13 06:22:52

one I hope you get some good news today.

novice lovely hotel, I have also bookmarked it. I can't remember the last time I was in Florence, it must have been my late teens.

We went to Tuscany for family holidays for years but that's more than twenty years ago.

DH and I are going to Rome in October for DPIL 40th wedding anniversay and I am really looking forward to it. Via dei Condotti, here I come!

Marsha fingers crossed about that job opportunity.

Today is our furniture is going to be delivered, yay! It will be late afternoon until they get here because they have about 800 km to drive and then they have to go through customs but I can't wait for it to arrive.

Today I am wearing the Me&Em maxi dress as it is going to be another hot one.

Marsha job front sounds good .......and series 6! Love love love MM as you know. Annoyed that we have the max Sky sports package but no Sky Atlantic, the one channel I want.....will rectify the situation and order the box set.

QueenCadbury Thu 11-Jul-13 08:07:45

novice love your attitude to travelling. I'd be exactly the same if only we could afford to! I dragged dh to Florence and Rome when I was pregnant with dd1. He hates city breaks as would rather be up a mountain but I loved them. I'd been obsessed with Florence ever since I'd watched room with a view 100s of times in my teens.

one keep us updated with results of bil. Do get the skirt and try it. The HOF in Birmingham on Saturday had a clearance bit and I was hoping to find a bargain just like you but to no avail.

marsha exciting times.

I'm very happy today as although my weight is still the top end of what I like to be, because I have replaced carbs with beans/quinoa etc I'm a lot less bloated and my waist has some definition again. Just need to sick with it.
