Ashamed to say I only have 2. Now my husband will say that is plenty ...

dexter73 Sat 29-Jun-13 20:28:44

I took 4 for a week long holiday. One blew off the balcony one night though so that only left 3!!

FrauMoose Sat 29-Jun-13 20:31:19

None. I have a one-piece swimsuit. I managed to forget this on the day I went to the beach on my recent holiday, and went swimming in the Med in shorts and bra. (Nobody seemed to notice or care.)

FadBook Sat 29-Jun-13 20:31:31

I like lots of bikinis! I took 7 on my last 2 week holiday! grin

Hit primark, there's some lovely ones in there at the min. I use to mix and match bottoms and tops too

Yonihadtoask Sat 29-Jun-13 20:31:41

2 probably. but I like to travel light.

ChewingOnLifesGristle Sat 29-Jun-13 20:32:12

My dh would say that's plenty too. In fact he'd probably say it's one too many. Anyway that's why I don't bother asking his opinion...hmm

I'm planning to take 4 tops and a few mix and match bottoms. Mn says mix and match bikinis are ok (I asked the other daywink)

bigTillyMint Sat 29-Jun-13 20:32:26

Probably 4 or 5 bikini's/costumes. If it's a hot holiday, it's what you wear most of the time.

badguider Sat 29-Jun-13 20:35:55

I've never owned more than 2 at any time, enough to keep the strap marks varied... you just rinse them out and dry them overnight... why would you need more?

I wear one pieces, but never own more than two or think that would be necessary. One on, one hanging up to dry.

People own more than two bikinis???

One to wear, one hanging up to dry.

Onetwo34 Sat 29-Jun-13 20:55:40

I would take 3.

Filofax Sat 29-Jun-13 21:24:12

I would take 4.

landofsoapandglory Sat 29-Jun-13 21:41:26

I'm taking 3 on my week long holiday. All the same style just different colours, so I don't end up with lots of strap marks!

mejypoo Sat 29-Jun-13 21:45:31

Atleast 6 or 7! wink

Mrsrobertduvall Sat 29-Jun-13 21:47:42

I 'm taking 2 for a one week break.
We have a washing machine.

AWimbaWay Sat 29-Jun-13 21:54:22

One swimming costume, I'm now feeling a bit odd.

AWimbaWay Sat 29-Jun-13 21:55:26

I don't sunbathe though as I burn so easily, only wear the costume to actually swim.

dexter73 Sat 29-Jun-13 22:01:30

I take more than 2 pairs of pants as well even though I could wash 1 pair at night and dry them out!

TheBuskersDog Sat 29-Jun-13 23:55:03

I think it depends what you do, if you just lie around on a lounger all day then you need less. I might go in the pool with my sons in the morning and then after lunch go to the beacn and then another dip in the pool later, so will change between activities. I usually take 4-5 bikinis.

notaverynicemum Sun 30-Jun-13 00:01:03

I have 6 put aside to take for my fortnights holiday but may only take 4 - depending how well the packing goes.

FrugalFashionista Sun 30-Jun-13 09:27:52

2. We used to have a pool, and I never ever used more than 3 pairs. On most beaches, if you lose something, you can buy a replacement on the spot.

gindrinker Sun 30-Jun-13 14:05:43

One swimsuit. I'm too pale to get too much flesh out... Boots doesn't stock enough sun cream to protect me in a bikini for two weeks!

greyvix Sun 30-Jun-13 14:08:19

2. One to wear, and one to wash from the previous day.

WhyMeWhyNot Sun 30-Jun-13 14:24:03

I hate sitting in a wet bikini so change every time I have a dip in the sea or pool. For 2 weeks take about 10!

Ifancyashandy Sun 30-Jun-13 14:28:06

2 week beach holiday would see 7 being packed probably. Took 5 on a recent 10 day break.

katydid02 Sun 30-Jun-13 14:35:03

One swimming costume, I don't have any bikinis.

Mosschops30 Sun 30-Jun-13 14:39:10

Normally 2.
One for the first week and one for the second
Washed out every night

CharlotteBronteSaurus Sun 30-Jun-13 14:40:27

<love handles>
I would take 2 x one pieces, although currently that would necessitate a shopping trip to buy the second one

intarsia Sun 30-Jun-13 14:42:22

Two bikinis one swimsuit and one tankini. Am packing as I type smile

RedPencils Sun 30-Jun-13 15:26:02

I have to buy ones with full scaffolding so only own 2. Wear one, wash one is more than adequate.

OverAndAbove Sun 30-Jun-13 18:01:04

I'll be taking 4 or 5. I spend most of the day in them so like a change. Also I like to soak them properly after a day's wear so two could be in the sink at any one time. They take up very little space so DH will hardly notice.

I was just thinking about DD's swimwear earlier and thinking she'll need 4 for the same reason

TippiShagpile Sun 30-Jun-13 18:02:06

If I'm going to be living in them for the whole holiday, then 3 or 4.

FortyFacedFuckers Sun 30-Jun-13 18:06:49

I usually take 4

EliotNess Sun 30-Jun-13 18:09:16

do you not have washing facilities?

ygritte Sun 30-Jun-13 19:57:44

I would take about 5.
I wouldn't want to be washing my knickers every other day and so don't want to do the same with my bikinis, although there is always a favourite. has taken me ages to amass 5 bikinis that look ok, and the thing about varying the strapmarks is another thing I keep in mind.

EliotNess Sun 30-Jun-13 22:14:59

Meh. Who cares about strap marks really

HappyGirlNow Sun 30-Jun-13 22:22:28

14 blush

ENormaSnob Sun 30-Jun-13 22:46:58

14. At least tbh.

EliotNess Sun 30-Jun-13 22:48:05

Lol. These are small tit ladies.

When a bikini costs you $50 you don't take 14 plus it's weird.

SoggySummer Sun 30-Jun-13 23:07:53

I am taking 6 I think. 3 older ones from last year and 3 new ones from this year.

I bought mine in Sainsburys and Asda at about £12 each. Had a peek at a lovely looking M&S one yesterday in the sale reduced to £18 for the top (at that point I didnt bother looking at the bottoms). The top looked beautiful from the front but the clasp at the back looked cheaper and naffer than the Primarni bikini my DD bought herself for £5 last weekend.

I have always wondered why some bikinis are so expensive and some so cheap. My best friend is rather well endowed in the boob department so buys hers from dearer stockists and I can see what she is getting for her extra £££ but some of those M&S £30 in the sale bikinis - pretty that they were didnt look any nicer or seemed to offer anything more than my Sainsburys ones. Have to say I own 5 Sainsburys bikinis bought over the past few years and think they are fab for the money - seem a bit better and a bit sturdier than other cheap ones. I need a few bits lifted etc and they do the rick fab, as they seem well cut.

curlew Sun 30-Jun-13 23:13:53

Well, every day's a school day!

Clary Sun 30-Jun-13 23:16:51

Loving this.

I don't own a bikini (not got the figure) so I wear a one piece. They are cup sized (huge boobs and weird size) and cost about £30-£40 so I generally own max of two.

I just love the fact that there are people out there who a) own 14 bikinis and b) take them all on a holiday grin

HappyGirlNow Sun 30-Jun-13 23:39:34

Yes Eliot I do have small(ish) tits grin

Parisisalwaysagoodidea Mon 01-Jul-13 14:07:53

I'm going to S.E Asia for 3 weeks in Dec/Jan. I was going to take 3 bikinis, may have to use this thread to justfy buying more rethink.

flowery Mon 01-Jul-13 14:15:39

Why is only having 2 something to be ashamed of? confused

Can't see any reason anyone would need more than 2, but if you want more, go for it.

I have 2 swimming costumes and 1 bikini and won't be buying any more for our holiday. Apart from anything else we are going to Cornwall and judging by the recent weather, I won't need any of 'em... hmm

When we go to Center Parcs and are swimming every day, I bring 2 costumes, and that's plenty.

HappyGirlNow Mon 01-Jul-13 14:20:09

To each their own.. I just think when else can you buy a whole outfit for £25... grin

Notcontent Mon 01-Jul-13 14:35:45

Gosh, I am shocked by some of the responses!!!

I have only ever had 2 at a time... And I speak as someone who grew up in a hot country.

Trills Mon 01-Jul-13 14:47:26

Minimum 2.

Maximum - as many as I had.

Still18atheart Mon 01-Jul-13 14:50:52

2 bikinis
1 tankini
1 one piece

Blu Mon 01-Jul-13 14:53:47

2 or 3.
But only wear 2.

fuzzywuzzy Mon 01-Jul-13 14:54:02

Depends on whether you will be atthe beach every day, my friend took one for each day.

rempy Mon 01-Jul-13 14:55:30

I used to take 3 bikinis.

I now take a tankini, a bikini that I only wear under a rash vest, and a floaty kaftan type thing to make sure other people on the beach aren't blinded by my vast white thighs..........(and because I am really sun exposure obsessed, and am trying to set a good example).

How times change.

FaddyPeony Mon 01-Jul-13 14:57:30

3-4 probably?
