What make-up do you wear day to day?

I used to be quite arty and always approached make up as a type of painting-i'm oft surprised at the number of ladies that go bare faced.
So may i ask what make up do you wear day to day?
I usually only have ten minutes to throw on a full face in the mornings so i wear :

Two concealers- one to smooth bumps and scars, the other to cover spots.
Eyeshadow in a neutral shade ( i sadly don't have time to blend coloured ones on work days)
Black liquid eyeliner
Lipstick-fushia looks best on me
I don't fill in my brows or anything as they're already really thick.

How about you, what do you wear? smile

Lottapianos Fri 28-Jun-13 14:01:18

Rimmel foundation (Match Perfection or Wake Me Up - both lovely)
Fill in eyebrows with shadow
Sometimes eyeshadow + eyeliner, sometimes bare lids
Lip gloss

I love make up smile

loopyloou Fri 28-Jun-13 14:04:41

I have very sensitive skin so only wear mascara, blusher and lippy when at work or out, otherwise nothing. I am experimenting with foundation but being very careful.

Must admit, can't be bothered to spend time putting makeup on if I can avoid it.

rubylovescheese Fri 28-Jun-13 14:05:08

OP my regime is the same as yours but I don't wear eyeliner and I do fill my brows. takes ten mins max often done at kitchen table whilst encouraging the dc to eat.

onetiredmummy Fri 28-Jun-13 14:10:26

Too Faced linen glow, the best bb cream ever. Benefit dandelion powder as blusher, neutral eyeshadow, black mascara , touch of powder on nose and red tinted lip balm. Takes 5 minutes and its healthy looking rather than looking made up,

Aetae Fri 28-Jun-13 14:11:03

I find there's not a dramatic amount of difference to my face between Mac-counter-style full face of makeup and my quick slap-it-on version. I just don't have one of those faces that utterly transforms with makeup. So daily I go with:
- Tinted moisturiser (Terry Light Expert) and sometimes concealer if I have a spot (Mac)
- Eye shadow (Too Faced Naked Eye palette usually, I use the dark shadow and an angle brush to do liner)
- Mascara (Maybelline Full n Soft)

Brows don't need filling in, blush looks ridiculous on me (freckles plus I get easily flushed) and I have skinny lips so lip gloss is a no go.

That's it usually. Sometimes I add lip tint (Stila pomegranate crush) but usually I can't be bothered with more than blistex.

mrspaddy Fri 28-Jun-13 14:15:05

Normally for work it is very minimal. I always use dark brown pencil Rimmel on brows/line with this too.. mascara
Max Factor Crème Puff powder - medium beige
Bronzer - either St Tropez or if I can't get that - Sunshimmer.

If I wanted a bit more - black eyeliner, mascara, sweep of Urban Decay - naked palatte, lipfinity lipstick. Double wear foundation, Vichy dermablend concealer.

I have a lot of the benefit stuff - High Beam, cheek tint etc but never really bother.

somewheresomehow Fri 28-Jun-13 14:23:34

Nowt and never have

Keztrel Fri 28-Jun-13 14:50:28

SPF 40 Clarins sunblock as a primer
Givenchy Subli'mine Sculpt Light foundation - ridiculous name, lovely sheer dewy foundation, sadly discontinued but I have some stockpiled. I just put it on my nose, chin and forehead, don't like a full face of foundation.
Mac creme eyeshadow in Blackground as a thick-ish line of eyeliner on my top lid
Max Factor mascara
Benefit Benetint blusher
Lipbalm or a sheer lipstick
Mac blot powder

Takes 5-10 mins and never varies, even if I'm going out in the evening (or getting married grin)

MrsBertMacklin Fri 28-Jun-13 15:00:43

The only item I wear on my face every time I wear makeup is eyebrow pencil. If I put on makeup, then don't put eyebrow pencil on, it looks unbalanced. I always, always curl my lashes, even if not wearing makeup.

My everyday look for a routine day at work, or Saturday daytime is
- Light base; either BB/CC cream or YSL teint eclat foundation, also applied as undereye concealer
- Bobbi Brown corrector under the eyes if I still have shadows coming through
- Maybelline Full 'n' Soft mascara, or Clinique High Impact Curling mascara
- Maybelline Master Smokey pencil in grey, or Clinique Cream Shaper for Eyes in Chocolate Lustre, used to tightline upper eye & add very subtle definition to lower lashline
- Mac cream blush
- NARS setting powder
- Lips: whatever I fish out of my handbag first, I have the whole Burt's Bees range knocking about in there and a couple of lip-coloured liners.

EccentricElastic Fri 28-Jun-13 15:06:35

None! I have tried it but felt very uncomfortable with it on my face (as though I'm not being true to myself), but I must admit that I enjoy putting moisturiser on it several times a day....though my skin isn't dry and never has been.

KatoPotato Fri 28-Jun-13 15:11:59

MrsBertMacklin Fri 28-Jun-13 16:25:43

KatoPotato, what finish does the Hello Flawless powder give? my NARS stuff is extremely mattifying, I'm planning to get something else when it's finished. I'd like the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow, but don't have the funds to buy it, so looking for a similarly dewy finish.

stopusingmynicknames Fri 28-Jun-13 16:27:52

Lord I am such a slob!

Ethlinn Fri 28-Jun-13 16:38:24

Smashbox primer
Dior Forever foundation
Rimmel concealer
Some sort of cheap eyebrow pencil
Gosh eyeliner

If I have time - eyeshadow. I love make up and because I am pretty fair even though I can hardly remember my natural hair colour my eyebrows and eyelashes are invisible without make up and that's my excuse for using loads of it grin

Ooft I wear loads

Skinheadmermaid Fri 28-Jun-13 17:53:10

No one ever taught me wild smile i experimented a lot as a teen and watched tutorial videos online. I've had some horrifying make up looks in my time!

Skinheadmermaid Fri 28-Jun-13 17:59:41

Thanks everyone for replying! Its good to know i'm not the only one that prefers a full face. Sometimes i feel vain or even guilty putting it on as some people always bang on about natural beauty and make up feels weird and stuff. I don't wear fake tan or lashes and i bite my nails so i'm hardly a TOWIE extra. smile

FruitOwl Fri 28-Jun-13 18:03:53

For everyday:
Lacura (Aldi) concealer pen
No 7 loose powder
17 bronzing rocks as blusher in summer or Benetint
17 brow sculpting pencil
No 7 Fanomenal Lashes mascara in black.
For going out I add black liquid eyeliner and mix Benetint with Vaseline for lips.

Never takes longer than 5 mins to put on and I usually do it at my desk when I get to work <slattern alert>

Vibbe Fri 28-Jun-13 19:40:51

After moisturiser, I currently use:

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer - oil free. This one is new, so just have to see how it works with my skin before I know if I'll use it in the future. So far I'm happy with it.
Diorskin Nude foundation, currently a mix of 010 and 020.
MAC Grain eye shadow (if I have more time or want a change, I'll use a golden or coppery colour or something from the Smashbox Heat Wave palette)
MAC Mystery eye shadow as liner, applied with push brush.
After curling lashes, Clinique high lengths mascara in black/brown or Le 2 de Guerlain Volume mascara in Brun 2 laque.
Catrice Eyebrow Filler tinted gel
Guerlain Rouge Automatique lipstick in 143 Nahema or Laura Mercier creme smooth lip colour in pink pout (current favourites)
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light (either all over the face or just on the T-zone)
MAC Alpine Bronze blush - I have quite a few blushes, but this is the one I use the most at the moment.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in lightscapade as highlighter

MAC Select Sheer pressed powder for touch-ups during the day.

Takes between 5 and 10 minutes to do, and despite the amount of products, it's looking quite natural.

flossy101 Fri 28-Jun-13 19:51:55

Benefit erase paste to conceal
Rimmel stay Matt powder
Rimmel bronzer
Benefit brow zings
Ysl faux cil mascara

I've never owned liquid foundation, blusher, bronzer, concealer or eyebrow pencil.

biryani Fri 28-Jun-13 23:08:15

Foundation (Marksies').
Eyeshadow (cheap).
Lippy plus liner.
Nails ( Chanel Rouge Noir-the only expensive bit of kit I've got..).

blueshoes Fri 28-Jun-13 23:12:09

It is the same everyday, whatever I wear and whether for work or leisure.

Make up base
Liquid foundation
Eyebrow pencil
Eyeliner, some times liquid
Cream blusher

As I get older, I find I can look washed out in that my brows are not as dark, skin not as taut and smooth. So need to extra boost that make up gives.

madmomma Sat 29-Jun-13 07:32:27

bit of foundation, concealer, powder, 2 blushers, brow pencil, kohl, 2 eyeshadows, mascara, undereye mascara, lipstick. But I have one of those plain, blank-canvas faces that is totally transformed by make-up. Feels criminal not to wear it when it makes me look 10 times prettier

twointhemorning Sat 29-Jun-13 08:44:08

I use Bare Minerals foundation in fairly beige, mixed with a bit of medium beige. For blusher I use Bobbi Brown in Desert Rose and some BM Warmth. Then I finish off with the BM Mineral Veil. I loathe the heavy feel of liquid foundation.

For eyes, I line upper lid in Mac eye pencil in slate (it's been discontinued, so I have been looking for a replacement & have been trying the Clarins eye pencil in grey which is more bluey-looking than the Mac one). Eyeshadow depends on my mood: BM, Urban Decay Naked2, or lately, some of the House of Colour shadows. Mascara is Clinique in black or HoC in navy. No lipstick or lipgloss, in winter some colourless lipbalm.

I consider myself someone who doesn't wear much make up, so I'm shocked at how much I do slap on. I do look subtly made up though rather than trowelled on. I tend to wear make up for work or going out, & don't bother much at weekends or holidays.

valiumredhead Sat 29-Jun-13 08:46:23

Two-I use medium beige but I think I need fairly beige. What's your skin colour if you don't mind me asking?

Mainly a bit of bronzer on my cheeks.

If I'm peed off and going out I tend to put more on, my 'war paint' eases my mood slightly so that's - tinted moisturiser, bronzer, light eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, lipbalm and depending on how bad my mood is a really sultry lipstick - it's a real deep red.

Never 'over done' but when I wear make up I want to be striking grin

marriedinwhiteagain Sat 29-Jun-13 08:53:08

No 7 foundation
pressed powder, concealer stick and blusher.
Lancome mascara
L'Oreal Lippy

Wear that every day. For a special occasion might add a bit of eyeliner and eyeshadow in fairy neutral tones. Got absolutely slated on aibu once for being extravagant for buying No 7 !

Ashoething Sat 29-Jun-13 09:19:16

I wouldn't leave the house without make-up.

Max Factor 2000 calorie mascara.
MAC powder blusher.
MAC lipstick.
Clinique Glosswear lip gloss.
Sometimes Soap & Glory 'Glow all out' highlighter to make me look a bit less dead!

When I go out I use MaC StudioFix foundation as well but I just can't be arsed messing around with it on a normal day.

Lizzylou Sat 29-Jun-13 11:12:53

Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser
Bit of undereye concealer
Brown eyeliner on lower lashes
Black mascara ( in fat yellow tube, Maybelline?)
neutral Mac eyeshadow

That's for work, weekend s just mascara unless going out, then have more eyeshadow and lippy (either red or taupe).

charlottehere Sat 29-Jun-13 11:18:55

Sometimes nothing....sometimes just tint moisturiser.....sometimes mascara. When I go out I wear foundation concealer lip liner gloss eyeshadows sometimes eyeliner and blush.

twointhemorning Sat 29-Jun-13 12:30:18

Valium my basic skin tone is cool coloured pinkish. I'm pale but not too pale. I got medium beige in the BM starter pack but thought it was a bit too dark. The fairly beige looks a bit flat on its own so I sprinkle a bit of the medium onto the lid with the fairly before swirling the brush in.

AlwaysSleepingBeauty Sat 29-Jun-13 13:23:37

Today is a good example of a normal day for me. I'm an aspiring make up artist if that makes a difference.

Bourjois Healthy Mix concealer for under the eyes
Laura Mercier Secret Camoflage on blemishes
Vichy Dermablend setting powder
Urban Decay Walk of Shame eyeshadow
Urban Decay Faint and Naked eyeshadows mixed together
Urban Decay Venus eyeshadow (all from the Naked Basics palette)
Laura Mercier caviar liner in black, I'm really pale but this is he only black that looks ok on me
Max Factor false lash mascara in black
Dior Rosy Glow blusher
Laura Mercier deep blonde brow powder
Laura Mercier lip liner in Baby Lips
Chanel lipstick in Mademoiselle

That sounds like so much written down. I rarely wear more makeup than this, although I often wear brighter or deeper colours.

JazzDalek Sat 29-Jun-13 13:35:49

In order of application:

Concealer under eyes (Benefit Fake Up)
Benefit It Stick in corners of nose
Benefit Benetint on cheeks

noviceoftheday Sat 29-Jun-13 13:48:19

Workdays I wear:

Mac prep & prime eyeshadow base
Nars long lasting eyeliner
Mac eye shadows
Mac prep & prime eyelashes
Soap & glory mascara (was free in Elle magazinesmile)
Mac prep & prime lips
Mac blusher
Lipstick (my new favourite is nars satin pencil. AMAZING staying power!) or lipgloss (current favourite also nars)

On saturdays, I ditch the eyeshadows (and base) and blusher, and usually wear tinted lip balm. Current fave is kiehls.

Chottie Sat 29-Jun-13 14:05:50

3 eyeshadows blended over lids
eye liner
brow mascara
lip gloss

All is Bobbi Brown except for Lancome mascara

p.s. I need all the help I can get smile

valiumredhead Sat 29-Jun-13 14:12:54

Two-great, thank you! That sounds the same as me, medium beige is very nearly right but not quite do I will try fairly mediumsmile

valiumredhead Sat 29-Jun-13 14:13:07

So not do

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep Sat 29-Jun-13 14:23:52

Fun thread!

I wear:

Liquid foundation
Pressed powder
mascara or fake lashes
Brow pencil

on a daily basis. If I'm going out I'll use clarins beauty flash balm before make up and I'll go for bolder colours, but still all the above.

V rarely go out without make up, but since I've been using clarins double serum my skin looks great without make up so it doesn't bother me doing the school run bare-faced.

VodkaKnockers Sat 29-Jun-13 14:47:15

Only just started wearing make up daily so my list is a bit crap.

Nivea BB cream
S&G Thick & Fast mascara
S&G Solar Powder bronzer (been using this for ages as its not glittery and very subtle)
S&G Glow All Out (just a very light sweep over my t zone)
Either Rimmel 1000 Kisses lip tint in Carry on Cherry or S&G Sexy Mother Pucker in Punch Bowl.

Got a bit of a thing for S&G

None, I'm totally rubbish at applying make up and don't have a clue what to do buy.

teacher123 Sat 29-Jun-13 18:01:25

For work as little as possible. It tends to be BB cream or just some of my Chanel powder compact, which is ace as a base. I use a bit of concealer under my eyes, lip salve and mascara. I always wear blusher now as well as otherwise I look a bit washed out. Normally I still look reasonable after a day of teaching primary aged children, so that's all I can ask for. For an evening out I'd put real foundation on, and add eyeshadow and eye liner. I always have my toenails painted, and have shellac fingers if finances allow!

BoomChicaBoom Sat 29-Jun-13 19:23:08

Day to day, either a work day or a home day I wear:

Clinique city block spf 40
Light foundation (ysl touche eclat or chanel lift lumiere)
Clinique airbrush concealer if needed
Estee Lauder double wear eyeshadow in range of colours
Double wear mascara
Dior waterproof eyeliner
Chanel bronzer or Bourjois cream blusher
Always wear nail polish on fingers and toes

If going out, then same as above but with thicker layer of foundation and EL double wear liquid eyeliner.

Don't do anything with lips usually

BoomChicaBoom Sat 29-Jun-13 19:25:15

Don't do anything with lips usually as the rest is probably enough!!

QuinnFabray Sat 29-Jun-13 19:28:54

MAC spf 50 primer
Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation
Estee lauder Double Wear concealer
MAC mineralise skinfinish natural
Nars Orgasm blusher
Lioele eyebrow powder
Estee Lauder Double Wear dark brown eyeliner
Barry M Lash Modelling Mascara ( at the moment )
Always some kind of lipstick. Favourites are the Soap and Glory gloss stick in Fuschia-ristic, which is a nice glossy coral, or Dior Extreme Addict in Riviera or Plaza.

That's my go-to daily make up, but I like to try new things and mix it up sometimes.

Bunbaker Sat 29-Jun-13 19:33:32

"i'm oft surprised at the number of ladies that go bare faced."

On non wok days I wear no make up at all as I like to let my skin breathe. For work I will wear primer, Boots no 7 Intelligent Colour foundation, blusher and lipstick. I don't wear eye make up because it accentuates my crepey eye-lids sad. I have dark eye lashes so don't need to wear mascara.

Apart from my wrinkly eyes I have very good skin and look younger than my years (54)

Sativa Sat 29-Jun-13 19:34:59

For every day wear :

Garnier bb cream
Clinique lip gloss in mystic

If I'm going out I will add Barry M dazzle dust eyeshadow, bronzer and benefit moon beam highlighter.

My skin is pretty good and I have lash extensions so no need to wear loads.

mervynmouse Sat 29-Jun-13 22:01:12

For work-
Chanel Vitalumiere Foundation
Liquid Eyeliner (this is key)
Concealer on my horrid chin spots
Liz Collinge highlighter (had this since 2001!) on eyelids and cheekbones
Sometimes bronzer

Weekends or not at work - curl eyelashes, concealer on horrid chin spots. Lovely. I blimming hate taking off makeup at the end of the day.

Clinique airbrush concealer under eyes

Current faves are Dior addict lipglosses .

Bertrude Sun 30-Jun-13 05:40:03

I clearly do not belong in style and beauty.

I wear MAC mineralise powder and No 7 lippy in 'Chic' colour as its fairly neutral. Occasionally I stick on some mascara.

All this is done stopped at traffic lights in the car on my way to work.

None what so ever just some moisturiser. I hate the feel of it on my face though will put foundation, powder, eyeshadow, blusher and lipstick on for special events, so about six times a year. I couldn't even tell you what makes they are. I'm 48 this year and don't think I will change now. Though quick boast, most people think I'm 30 something, whether that is because I have never worn makeup I don't know.

whyno Sun 30-Jun-13 06:29:31

Foundation, blusher and lippy. Eye make up makes me look a bit 'drag' since I hit my 30s.

cafenoir Sun 30-Jun-13 17:03:27

When I was a gal, some 30 odd years ago (50 now) I was often told not to wear makeup all the time. Back then, there was no "everyday spf 15" moisturiser; no such thing as self tan and I did use foundation and blush and "eyeballs" everyday, as I am blonde and pale and look dead without it. Now, my older sister and I are only the minimum of months apart in age and she has far wrinklier skin than I. She used to be of the " let your skin breathe" brigade and I have to say, I don't believe it! Skin excretes..... It does not breathe. If you wear light makeup and thoroughly remove it each day, it does no harm in terms of "suffocating" skin.

Now, I wear spf 50 and love wearing my makeup. Every day except on holiday.

That's interesting Eliza. I'm in my 50's too, have also worn make up since my late teens (I look ill without it) and barely have a wrinkle. I don't have wonderful skin but I honestly don't think make-up has done it any harm over the years. And over the last few years stuff has just got better and better and my skin looks the best it's ever looked thanks to all the high tech gear available smile

I am 54 and hardly ever wear make up, but I have worn moisturiser since I was 15 and always cleanse my face night and morning. I have excellent skin and look younger than my years.

I now feel like a scruff! Normally bb cream mascara and lip gloss. Interesting replies. I should make more of an effort. MN you have inspired me and I will try and make more of an effort.

foundation - doublewear, but sparingly applied, mainly to even out under eye colour.

mascara - clinique lash power or ELdouble wear.

none unless going out, which doesn't happen very often. I've never been able to do eye liner.

but I'm 46 and feel like I need to get a grip, so am marking my place to get some brand ideas. I went out last night and did think I looked better made up

Concealer, eye primer, eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner, foundation, blusher, lippy.

mignonette Mon 01-Jul-13 15:44:43

I'm very very lazy. I use Clarins Beauty Flash Balm or currently a freebie Elemis one. Then it's a slash of black eyeliner using a Dior eyeliner pencil stub and finally Guerlain Divinora lipstick in a deep raspberry red which I use as a light stain with a lipbrush. And that is probably why my lipsticks last about ten years...

Have never worn foundation/concealer in my life as have been lucky enough to not need to. No Mascara as have long eyelashes+ contact lens or glasses (lashes catch against glass lens leaving little black stripes if I wear mascara). I have worn cheek colour using Chanel blushstick but DD went home with it last month so am pallid faced.

Perfume is my thing.

Oh and I have been known to use MAC Spice all over my lips, rubbed in then a light slick of tinted gloss on top. I have a lot of makeup that I never use.

Old favourites are Agnes B apricot colour corrective and Agnes B mauve tinted colour corrective and NARS multistick.

Nothing day-to-day. If I want to be 'presentable' (church, relaxed meet-ups with close friends) I will put on blusher and mascara and maybe lipstick. The only times I go the whole hog with foundation, eyeshadow etc. are more flashy evening things and if I'm in a concert (I sing in choirs).

All my makeup is good brands though (Bobbi B, Estee Lauder etc), and I wear a good moisturiser that's applied every day.

EugenesAxe Mon 01-Jul-13 16:38:14

I forgot to add.... and when I bloody feel like looking swanky for once.

Nacster Mon 01-Jul-13 16:54:37

I don't wear anything day to day.

For posh do's I wear eyeliner, mascara and possibly eyeshadow.

I do own foundation but I don't like how it looks so don't bother.

BeCool Mon 01-Jul-13 16:57:03

Tinted moisturiser or BB Cream
Eye liner
Little bit of blush
Lippy - usually a light one.

This takes about 3 minutes in the morning. If I'm in a rush it will just be tinted moist & lippy.

Sometimes I wear eye shadow, but these days that is more likely at night.

higgle Mon 01-Jul-13 17:00:41

Clinique super-balanced foundation
No 7 Cream blusher
Clinique beigey eyeshadows
M&S mascara
Boots lip pencil - natural coloured - all over lips topped with M&S lip gloss nude.
I try to look like myself, but better. The way I feel today I'm seriously considering trying to look like someone else altogether.

Eliza22 Mon 01-Jul-13 17:33:05

Higgle ... Hahaha!

I love the Clinique Superbalanced .... Does amazing things for my face.

Concealer if required - No 7 but it's crap
Curl lashes and use mascara - Max Factor Masterpiece
Clear mascara on eyebrows - Collection 2000 atm but anything cheap
Eyebrow pencil- Rimmel
Brown eyeliner - Bourjois

For a night out I use Clinique super moisture foundation instead of the mineral powder foundation and add some eyeshadow.

BerkshireMum Mon 01-Jul-13 23:07:45

Helene E foundation topped ATM with benefit tinted moisturiser
Natural source cream blusher
Benefit high beam
Clinique lid smoothie
Mac liquid eyeliner (usually purple)
Clinique brown mascara
Benefit high brow
Maybeline 24 colour lip stick (in red as eyes are very minimal, despite the number of products!)

5-7 mins in the morning - had years to practice!

Interested about the comments on wrinkles. I'm 43 and at a recent school reunion was complimented on being virtually wrinkle free (I wish!). I've worn a full face ever since I was 16. Can't image doing anything else, but I always take it off properly at night.
