It might be unlucky for some but vol 13 is open to all who want to chat style, beauty and much more besides. Continued on from here

shop did you see the closing post?

LinusDKD Wed 12-Jun-13 19:11:14

13 is DH's lucky number so I don't mind.

These are the things I considered buying in the Matches sale before their website went kaput:

Marant jacket

They still have it in a size up from my normal size

McQueen flats

Still available in my size.

But now I have had many, many hours to think about them I am not sure anymore.

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 19:11:26

I should start a shoe therapy group - just think of the potential 'guest' speakers....

I like the J Crew bangle but I am like death to jewellery. I break it, lose it, tear it. Dreadful. Love to look at it and admire on others.

Whatever happened to DonaAna? Radio silence.....

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 19:11:54

Shop I read Dry's post, your cousin's good reputation has been reinstated. grin.

McNally Wed 12-Jun-13 19:13:29

Love the bangle shop. So much so that I went on the J Crew site to get one too if not too £££. Couldn't find it so think they've sold out. Too slow! Agree with wearing it with casual rather than dressy outfit. Think it will look great.

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 19:13:42

That Marant is lovely Linus. I can remember when those Indian style quilted jackets were in fashion in the 70-80's. We used to wear them reeking of patchouli and joss sticks after buying them from the local 'Head Shop'....

And they didn't cost £250+

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 19:17:00

I like them Linus as long as you don't feel the Marant is too bulky.

Mignonette I sent you a pm.

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 19:17:49

Love the J Crew bangle too Shop.

Choos and Kors have been dispatched. It's like Christmas, only I don't have to be polite to my mother in law!

shopafrolic Wed 12-Jun-13 19:30:59

Would just like to point out that my relations' dress sense is much more conservative than my own but thanks for the vote of confidence Dry
Bangle for McNally

shopafrolic Wed 12-Jun-13 19:32:43

Linus neither link is working now so they may have sold out?
I bought two cheapo basic bits
another AV tee
Marant skull beads

LinusDKD Wed 12-Jun-13 19:33:18

Amber grin

Maybe the Marant is too bulky and Mignonette you are right, it really is a lot of money for something that might not age well.

I am wearing my cobalt Asos pencil skirt today and a AV tee in marshmallow. The colour of the skirt is really lovely and the skirt itself soo comfortable.

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 19:35:58

Which one is the Asos cobalt pencil skirt?

I need one item to wear I think in the first week.

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 19:37:34

I know it's the wrong time for cords really, but gosh these J Crew cords are a bargain with another 30% off.

shopafrolic Wed 12-Jun-13 19:37:46

You'd be better off with at least 3 items Marsha (and even then you could be going commando) smile
Assume you mean 'new' item

LinusDKD Wed 12-Jun-13 19:38:04

shop I tried that tee on in real life but sadly the colour didn't suit me. I still have another AV tee in my basket but as it is a colour I already own blush and it costs £12 to deliver to Switzerland I probably won't buy it. Unless I find something else to buy.

There was a lovely coral Marant bracelet but not sure if it's still in stock.

shopafrolic Wed 12-Jun-13 19:38:38

Not for the long of leg tho sad

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 19:39:01

lol Shop yes I could scare the work people grin

Yes am thinking one item. I am seriously going to have to eek out what I have until I can buy more .

LinusDKD Wed 12-Jun-13 19:41:46

shop they are still in stock on the Matches website but maybe my links are dodgy.

Marsha cobalt skirt

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 19:59:38

Love that Linus thanks. Cotton and looks like thick jersey. Cobalt is my favourite too. Ok have bookmarked as serious contender for pre-pay work clothes.

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 20:02:41

Linus - that skirt/T colour combination does sound very unusual and I like it.

Would love more suggestions for colour combining from you all. I like off beat and clashy alongside toning and matchy.

Here are some of my favourites.... Camel and Pale Blue; Olive/Ivy Green and Red; Orange and Fuschia; Purple and Ochre Yellow; Red, Baby Blue and White...

Marsha Thanks for PM. Like the cords and i have a soft spot for them....When I trained years ago I used to have a few pairs of cords. I'll always remember a placement with children who had learning disabilities. One little girl used to stroke my corduroy encased leg in delight and called me 'Lamby'. She had a soft PlaySkool blanket lamb as her 'comfie' and being visually severely impaired, she took great delight in textures. I've never forgotten her and she really opened my eyes to how clothing can have so much meaning, far more then just fashion, warmth, identity etc....

LinusDKD Wed 12-Jun-13 20:03:08

<whispers> I have that skirt in cobalt, black and berry and now it seems they do it in grey as well.

shopafrolic Wed 12-Jun-13 20:07:59

Mignonette you've reminded me of all the fabulous colour combinations you gave me when I bought this coat. Do you remember? So glad I bought it by the way, it gets lots of wear.

LinusDKD Wed 12-Jun-13 20:12:18

Those colour combinations remind me of the Céline Cabas totes, see google images.

My Céline purse is grey 'souris' on the outside and a very neon yellow on the inside. I fell in love with it instantly.

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 20:12:34

Have just ordered Asos skirt in berry and grey. The grey to wear with pale pink old AV pale pink sweatshirt and Converse (hope I'm not too ancient to pull it off) and the Berry will also look off beat and good I hope with same sweat plus ancient grey marl sweat.

Also have navy/cream chiffon pussycat blouse that may go with either/both in mad top-half secretary,bottom-half 80's Desperately Seeking Susan manner!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 12-Jun-13 20:17:15

Can I hark back to the maxi dress convo, please? Not usually one for a maxi due to being vertically challenged, but found this on the extra petite blog and love it. Can anyone suggest something identical similar?

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 20:18:33

Oh I do love that coat Shop and how good is it that you have got so much wear. I am of the opinion that camel scares some people because they think they have to go all beigey-greigey neutral with it when in fact it looks so cool worn with bright clear colours.

Loewe bags and I'm thinking especially of the Flamenco are made in some great colour combinations and yes the Cabas tote also. Love the 'Souris' (Mouse) name, Linus and that flash of neon inside can be brilliant inspiration for what to wear under ones neutral or tonal winter coat.

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 20:20:13

I'll look for you Grumpy. It reminds me of an old M&S stretchy jersery dress I wore in the late 90's. It was knee length, navy and white horizontal stripe and had a slashed boat neck, short sleeves edged in navy knit. Loved it.

shopafrolic Wed 12-Jun-13 20:23:26

I saw a lady today wearing a camel coat just like yours shop, with turned up dark denim skinnies, nude ballet flats, sunnies....v chic indeed.

LinusDKD Wed 12-Jun-13 20:30:16

Lovely coat shop! I love camel but I don't think it suits me.

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 20:30:33

Found this at Vera Moda which is stand alone or in store at House Of Fraser.,default,pd.html?cm_mmc=Google+Shopping-_-Product+Extensions+And+Listings-_-Vero+Moda-_-_Vero+Moda+Beachy+sleeveless+striped+maxi+dress&_$ja=tsid:44970|cid:146504515|cgid:7042173355

Can anyone remind me about how to do the 'here' links so i don't post the entire Cyrillic alphabet in every link?

shopafrolic Wed 12-Jun-13 20:32:23

[[ these 2 brackets, then your link, then your words e.g. Fab coat, then ]] again

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 20:33:00

I love camel too. Very understated which I like.

Camel and light blue sounds gorgeous. Love all those combinations. Yes to Celine does fabulous colours.

Grumpy will have a look around.

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 20:50:26

Thanks Shop. I am such a troglodyte with IT.

Testing..... More camel

Hooray! It works! grin grin grin

As well as buying a pair of jeans I already have I bought
this top today for 3.99 in Gap. Only had one in my size. Can only find it on US EBay to link. Quite bright with a neon stripe. Good for slobbing around this summer. Rude not to.

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 20:54:35

Well done Mignonette a clean link! grin.

Great top Dry.

LinusDKD Wed 12-Jun-13 21:01:41

I decided not to buy anything in the Matches sale but ordered this instead:

Splendid maxi skirt

I wanted it in black but they didn't have my size anymore.

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 21:11:39

Linus if you love the Marant you should go for it, I wasn't sure if you wanted to be dissuaded. Do you still fancy getting it?

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 21:12:44

Love this Phillip Lim bikini here

So pretty. Like a modern print interpretation of those 'Country Diary of an Edwardian lady' books.

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 21:14:12

I didn't mean to dissuade you either Linus. It just reminded me of those jackets we used to wear. That's not a bad thing either. I loved my jacket and wore it with my first pair of drainpipes!

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 21:15:33

That Lim bikini is gorgeous, teeny but gorgeous.

LinusDKD Wed 12-Jun-13 21:20:04

Lovely bikini! I think Ariadne Oliver in the Agatha Christie novels used to have wallpaper like that.

I think I'll sleep on the Marant jacket. If I spend that amount of money I do want something that will still look good in 5 or 10 years time.

libertychick Wed 12-Jun-13 21:26:02

Great colour combining chat. I was going to ask what people think of cobalt and yellow. Shop has sold me a gorgeous cobalt silk shirt and it's hanging beside this skirt in my wardrobe and I think it looks promising.

libertychick Wed 12-Jun-13 21:26:30

Great colour combining chat. I was going to ask what people think of cobalt and yellow. Shop has sold me a gorgeous cobalt silk shirt and it's hanging beside this skirt in my wardrobe and I think it looks promising.

QueenCadbury Wed 12-Jun-13 21:28:44

Aargh, how do you lot move sooo fast? I am now going to attempt to catch up...

libertychick Wed 12-Jun-13 21:29:00

Woops double post - not sure how that happened. Liberty sale starts tomorrow....

QueenCadbury Wed 12-Jun-13 21:32:14
shopafrolic Wed 12-Jun-13 21:36:43

Ooooo yes! Try it Liberty

libertychick Wed 12-Jun-13 21:38:52

thanks QueenC that's a fabulous board - I have to try the combo now!

QueenCadbury Wed 12-Jun-13 21:49:01

mignonette I've just recently got into colour combining since having my colours done. Before thatbibwas fairly dull wearing mainly neutrals as I was pretty scared of colours. Now my favourites are
pink and navy

LinusDKD Wed 12-Jun-13 21:49:26

I have worn a yellow tee with a cobalt scarf and shoes and DH complimented me. Go for it!

QueenCadbury Wed 12-Jun-13 21:51:14

pink and red although I haven't been brave enough to do this yet!

(Apolgies that they're separate posts but the iPad isn't letting me link more than one thing at a time at the moment)

QueenCadbury Wed 12-Jun-13 21:52:42
QueenCadbury Wed 12-Jun-13 21:54:42

Also love yellow and grey although I can't wear yellow

QueenCadbury Wed 12-Jun-13 21:57:27

I adore black and navy and wear this lots in winter.

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 21:57:30

Love the Liberty cobalt and blue-reminds me of school chemistry and the lovely colours in the test tubes. Pink and red is such a favourite of mine too Queen.

Have been playing on Polyvore- what do you think of this fantasy combination?

I think it is fairly mix and match and I love candy coloured Converse. I have a mint green suede pair bought from I Drive years ago.

QueenCadbury Wed 12-Jun-13 22:01:32

Looking good mignonette. All the colours really go together.

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 22:03:36

Excellent choice of pin colour combinations Queen. Can Sophia do any wrong style wise?

One of my favourite lo-fi combinations was an olive green woolly cardigan worn on top of a deep red and white pin striped cotton vest top. It just worked unexpectedly. I also put same olive green in a merino crew neck sweater with a tweedy pair of straight leg sailor pants in nut brown worn with an apricot-y brown Baby G watch. That was in the late 90's and was one of my favourite ever outfits. I just felt pulled together and wish I had a picture to post.

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 22:04:10

Thank you smile

QueenCadbury Wed 12-Jun-13 22:04:21

Sofia is my new style crush!

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 22:05:09

Really like it Mignonette.

Love watermelon and red.

blue and deep burgundy.

QueenCadbury Wed 12-Jun-13 22:05:30

Gah, my iPad battery is down to 2%. I guess that's my sign to go to bed!

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 22:05:50

Love Sofia too. She can be our Vogue sleb! grin

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 22:23:30

Do you know who watermelon top is by Marsha? That is the most exquisite shade.

shopafrolic Wed 12-Jun-13 22:26:16

Sofia who? (Thicko)

your shoes!

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 22:28:01

Mignonette Stella M. I prefer it with the red skirt, but might just be the styling I prefer. On sale (nudge, nudge).

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 22:29:14

Shop Sofia Coppola.

shopafrolic Wed 12-Jun-13 22:31:42

Sorry! I think I got a bit lost! smile

libertychick Wed 12-Jun-13 22:35:21

QueenC I am a big fan of navy and pink - I wear my navy trench coat with a fuchia and pale pink polka dot scarf.

Lovely polyvore board mignonette - the Mango sarong skirt and the Burberry pussy bow blouse great.

Linus can you link your cobalt shoes?

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 22:39:23

Love that Stella top with the red. That is such a wonderful colour. I am being nudged smile

MarshaBrady Wed 12-Jun-13 22:42:54

I now would so dearly love that outfit I feel a bit faint. It's been ages since I felt like that. You should get it Mignon!

QueenC great colour combos. I love turquoise and emerald green too. Am feeling an Autumn ant coming on.........flannel (?) short skirts in red, emerald, maybe fushia..........

"Autumn WANT"!

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 22:56:11

Oh god I have just seen the slickest sandals on Matches site alongside a Current Elliott jean that would surely go with the Stella sweater...Now look what I have done- turned a sweater into a whole outfit. I was feeling smug because I have a red skirt that could go with the sweater therefore 'saving' me money..

I am doomed.

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 22:58:28

And flannel is THE way to go in Winter for skirts and pants. A must of mine. I have some navy flannel sailor pants, several pairs actually, one being MaxMara and the others various High St. Laura Ashley used to do really well cut sailor pants and I wonder if they still do?

mignonette Wed 12-Jun-13 23:01:59

I will wish you all a good nights sleep and hopefully talk again tomorrow...

McNally Wed 12-Jun-13 23:16:26

Thanks for the link shop. Have ordered the bracelet too (still couldn't find it without your link - weird) and some t shirts while I was at it.

I usually wear brights with a neutral but some inspiring colour combinations there.

LinusDKD Thu 13-Jun-13 06:16:40

What lovely colour combinations last night! I might try one of them today.

The cobalt shoes are an old pair of Jimmy Choo flats (patent leather with oversized studs on the tip) I bought at Harvey Nicks.

But I also have the cobalt gigi's which were on sale at Matches if I remember correctly. Will try and link later.

LinusDKD Thu 13-Jun-13 06:18:30
noviceoftheday Thu 13-Jun-13 06:25:08

Morning! Selfridges sale on now. <runs out panting>

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 07:02:48

Starts at 8am Novice still time for a coffee!

LinusDKD Thu 13-Jun-13 07:16:59

<sips coffee whilst waiting patiently and hoping DC will occupy themselves>

Maybe not a colour combination mentioned yesterday but today I am wearing the cobalt skirt, fushia AV tee and navy havs.

noviceoftheday Thu 13-Jun-13 07:27:54

No Shop, started online at 6am!

LinusDKD Thu 13-Jun-13 07:30:53

<spits out coffee> 6 am!? I could have been shopping for hours!

noviceoftheday Thu 13-Jun-13 07:33:44

Yes, hurry! I just missed out on a Chloe Elsie bag at 50% because someone else snapped it up while I had other things in the basket.

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 07:57:52

SHIIIIIIIIITTTTT - the email lied?

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 08:01:32

Paige jimmy jimmy jeans for £125

MarshaBrady Thu 13-Jun-13 08:05:34

Oh no Novice. Darn!

LinusDKD Thu 13-Jun-13 08:21:32

angry after being a bit underwhelmed by the things on offer in the sale, I did have two items in my basket. But when I wanted to check out I could only choose between UK delivery or collect in store.

Apparently they don't deliver online orders outside the UK!!!

One of the biggest department stores in the world doesn't do international deliveries!? In the words of J. McEnroe: YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 08:24:30

So far, browsing around I'm not overly impressed! Perhaps I should have started at 6am!

libertychick Thu 13-Jun-13 09:19:20

That's absolute rubbish Linus

libertychick Thu 13-Jun-13 09:23:06

I am wearing the cobalt and yellow combo today! Grey whisles lena jacket to keep warm and M&S snakeskin flats, silver necklace and bangle....feels good so far. Nice start to the morning, tubes all ran on time so reached my meeting destination with 20 mins to spare so enjoying a cuppa with a bacon buttie...happy sales shopping all.

Annianni Thu 13-Jun-13 09:34:16

Blimey, I've missed loads again.

I only ordered the trainers from Matches, they should be here today, along with the outnet Kors boots, and a brand alley Charli order from last month.

I had a little look at Selfridges early this morning, but I don't want to spend any more money.

I did go to Selfridges last night with dh (which was lovely, we rarely get to shop together childless)

I saw Amber's new Choos and they are lovely and soft.

Have you managed to find the McQueen tee Shop?

That's terrible Linus. Have you any family/friends who could send an order on to you?

QueenCadbury Thu 13-Jun-13 09:52:17

grin at all the sale shopping frenzy. Hope you all get some bargains.

I'm feeling low today. The eldest 2 have been playing up as they're missing dh who thankfully is back today. For those of you that have dh regularly away, I don't know how you do it. I originally put on a black tee and a black cardi to reflect my mood but looking at my reflection in the mirror made me more depressed grin. I quickly changed into a mood brightening pink and navy.

I'm loving all the colour combination chat. It's great to get new ideas of how to wear stuff you already own. The only one I won't be doing is burgundy and cobalt. Df supports Aston villa and bil supports west ham so for me that combination will always be football colours!

foxysocks Thu 13-Jun-13 10:09:36

the selfies website is BEYOND shit. why can't it just say out of stock on the main pages rather than forcing constant - and very slow - click throughs?

queenc sorry you are feeling low. i hate DH being away, it's the major source of our rows. as the DC get a little older I am starting to focus on my stuff again, which will include travel, and that helps a bit - knowing that he will have to pick up the slack here too! do you have something you do that's really just yours? I've found that's really helped when my kids are little, to keep me sane. (((hugs))) x

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 10:14:56

Hugs for QueenC DH doesn't go away as much as he used to but when he does it tends to be for longer periods and affects DS a lot. As a child of a father who frequently travelled for up to a year at a time I find it very tough, and I constantly worry about the impact on DS as I know how my brother and I have been affected!
No luck with the McQueen Anni sad

MarshaBrady Thu 13-Jun-13 10:16:13

I really feel for you all Foxy and QueenC and everyone who has travelling dhs.

Céline perfection = Aston Villa oh no! <splutter> shock wink

Haven't bothered with Selfridges, I'll be sifting through the sales dregs oh woe.

MarshaBrady Thu 13-Jun-13 10:16:37

Linus that is crap I love your McEnroe line grin.

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 10:17:47

Yes loads of punchy cobalt pretty Theory skirt.

MarshaBrady Thu 13-Jun-13 10:37:18

Punchy? I was going to put zingy. You know that cobalt that's so strong.

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 10:38:18

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 10:39:14

Annianni Thu 13-Jun-13 10:39:40

<Wah> do I want green boots?

The Kors I'm trying today are brown.

I really wanted grey boots.

I need something with a heel and a slouchy or biker flat pair I think.

MarshaBrady Thu 13-Jun-13 10:39:59

Oh yes that is gorgeous.

MarshaBrady Thu 13-Jun-13 10:40:51

Which Kors ones are you trying Anni?

Annianni Thu 13-Jun-13 10:45:35

<wah> don't link them Shop!!!!!

If they were almost any other colour, I'd order them.
But my parka is green.
And my peacoat is green.
So I'd look like a knob in Winter.

Annianni Thu 13-Jun-13 10:48:36

I've sent you the Kors pin Marsha.
Don't want to link them on here incase I like them and need a different size.

MarshaBrady Thu 13-Jun-13 10:48:53

Good idea Anni!

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 11:03:05

Sorry Anni!

mignonette Thu 13-Jun-13 11:04:46

Oh Queen you do have an awful lot on your plate so sending you some flowers

I am imposing a ban on all black clothing for you. Keep bright colours on, it does help as does cuddling up to throws, cushions in warming, relaxing shades. DH did one of the first research projects into the use of colour, texture and shape on dementia units which indicated a significant positive correlation between mood, behaviour, orientation and the use of particular colours to both calm and show where things /places are. Further research into the use of colours with deeply personal meanings to individual patients also had positive feedback. For example he decorated the room of a fervent football fan with his team colours-duvet cover, curtains, towels etc. Worked like a charm.

Love the petrol blue shirt (would work with small silver metallic bag or belt).

Today I am wearing my Adidas mustard cowl skirt bought on sale from Hervia last winter. I am wearing it with a charcoal grey C&C long sleeved V neck T layered over a silver grey skinny vest and a pair of tan Hasbeens. And I am freezing.

foxysocks Thu 13-Jun-13 11:15:10

i LOVE that blue skirt and the washed silk shirt. latter OOS in my size though.

no quilted whistles skirt for me now i have the wang grey ruched number, but thank you shop

i am unimpressed with sales so far. good for my bank balance I guess.

foxysocks Thu 13-Jun-13 11:16:43

if you were a chambray shirt WHY on earth would you be dry clean only?!

mignonette Thu 13-Jun-13 11:30:13

Dry clean labels are put on so many clothes these days. It has been described by US Vogue columnist Plum Sykes as a way for clothing companies/stores to cover themselves against any claims of wash day faults. The concern I have is what to do about cleaning the increasingly embellished clothing and these new techno fabrics such as bonded wool, raffia etc that are still at the experimental stage as regards their longevity.

Annianni Thu 13-Jun-13 12:21:24

It's ok Shop, they are the wrong colour for me anyway.

Hope you feel better QueenC.

I've done a smash and grab at Whistles.
Ordered Shop's grey quilted sweat.
A sweater I tried in JL a few weeks ago.
Another grey sweat, with short sleeves,
And a navy and yellow silk top.

I'll link later.

Come on dhl man, where are you?

Oh, I did ask my nice dhl man about leaving the boxes open... and he said that domestic parcels can be sealed now. In the past, they had to be checked but not anymore.
So get that parcel tape out ladies grin

Annianni Thu 13-Jun-13 12:22:44

Does anyone else hate Whistles' website?
It is so annoying!

The only thing I dry clean are coats and some jackets. Everything else goes on a gentle 30 cycle. It has all survived.

ANd in other news my 7.5 snakeskin M&S flats have arrived and are super comfy - no idea why I didn't just buy them in the first place! Free listing on EBay today so am listing them, a Cath Kidston bag (sooooooo not me!) and a few other bits and bobs.

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 13:18:46

Anni I thought how great the Whistles site was to search through by type and size. I didn't go on to purchase though.....
Hope you like the quilted sweat - I love mine and layer it over my neon tee, I've worn it at least once a week for months now and it has washed well.

QueenCadbury Thu 13-Jun-13 13:30:19

I now have period pain so that explains the low mood! I've just eaten my favourite pizza on the sofa for lunch. No point even trying to be good when I'm hormonal grin.

Anyway I did my usual thing when feeling low of turning to shopping. After music class I pooped into my local favourite boutique and bought this blouse. It's so me, the dark navy looks lovely and it will be perfect for going out paired with black trousers.

Our colour pin board is looking good!

LinusDKD Thu 13-Jun-13 13:39:38

Just got an e-mail from Selfridges saying that I still have some items in my basket and that I should buy them soon as otherwise 'they might get snapped up by an equally stylish shopper' hmm angry

I could have the items delivered to a friend in the UK but I only do that if delivery costs to where I live are ridiculously expensive or if it's something I really can't find anywhere else.

DS has been acting up as well. This is the third week in a row DH has had to travel and this week he's been gone longer than usual. He's back home around midnight tonight and I can't wait!

And my periods have started as well QueenC so I have had some Toblerone to cheer me up.

All this talk about colour boards reminds me of a person I am following on pinterest. This lady has a gazillion boards on various topics but her colour boards are a thing of beauty. Will link in a minute.

QueenCadbury Thu 13-Jun-13 13:40:51

mignonette that's really interesting about the colour stuff. If it works for dementia patients perhaps I should try it with my fil. I've always had colour in my wardrobe (as well as a lot of black/grey/navy) but soft, muted tones. I'm just so into brighter colours now that I know they suit me. I would never have picked out anything in fushia or red before having my colours done but it's great what it does to both my mood and self esteem.

LinusDKD Thu 13-Jun-13 13:43:47

Hope this works

MarshaBrady Thu 13-Jun-13 14:47:12

Linus that's a bit much, surely it should say almost as stylish.. Or nowhere near as stylish but they'll try... if they want to flatter us grin

Leonard Cohen that's no way to say goodbye just played on the radio, sob. So gorgeous.

MarshaBrady Thu 13-Jun-13 14:48:16

I have three cashmere jumpers to deal with. Not sure how to play it. I destroyed a Stella M jumper in the wash and it's put me off my stride. Will have to do the tuck and roll, darn!

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 15:03:25

Do you use laundry bags Marsha? I put them in a laundry bag, delicate detergent, hand wash cycle and the Marsha towel roll.

MarshaBrady Thu 13-Jun-13 15:06:08

lol at Marsha roll grin I always think of this thread when I watch Bolt and they say tuck and roll, tuck and what?!

I should try a laundry bag shouldn't I, could be the missing thing.

foxysocks Thu 13-Jun-13 15:10:56

i don't dare machine cashmere. cool hand wash followed by the marsha roll.

I have been perusing sale bags and realised it's completely impossible for me to buy a small bag. i am inexplicably drawn to huge ones.

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 15:19:42

Has anyone been watching the 30min programmes on Channel 4 this week called Dates? Really interesting characters, written by the guys who did Skins.
Having met my DH online it's been quite eye opening! smile

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 15:20:11
libertychick Thu 13-Jun-13 15:52:19

<runs in screaming with delight waving hands in air>

DH has bought me the Whistles Biker jacket in the sale - I gave him a list of possible pressies and he was searching on-line for various options this morning and spotted it was reduced and pounced!!!!

I am so happy!!!

<dances back out again>

libertychick Thu 13-Jun-13 15:53:15

It's now sold out in almost every size (including mine) - the man is a genius!

MarshaBrady Thu 13-Jun-13 16:28:24

Well done Liberty! Fabulous!

McNally Thu 13-Jun-13 16:32:49

Ahhh, well done your DH liberty!

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 16:33:44

AAaaaawww top marks to Liberty's DH.

linus Selfridges delivery.....rubbish
Foxy I agree with you, the sale site is rubbish too....really got my hopes up about my all time dream bag
swoon had an ok ( almost) to get it....them "this quantity is un available"!!! UPDATE the site Selfridges!
Marsha If you don't have a laundry bag just use a pillow case
QueenC it's hard, ESP when you have little ones, when DH is away, I can sympathise....... Love, love, love your new navy blouse.
Migonette v interesting about colour therapy. Whoever mentioned wearing red dresses.......I have had my most epic nights out when wearing red, make me feel invincible or is it the white wine

Out for girlie get together this evening. Will be wearing my stone leather jacket and Clarks snakeskin sandals with dark jeans and perhaps a cream lace top.

The colour combination discussion has made me realise that I'm very safe/ pragmatic.....I love brights but always wear them with neutrals. Am going to try to be braver .

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Thu 13-Jun-13 16:57:10

Thanks for the maxi dresses. Went for the Vero Moda (thanks Mignonette). At £16 it's a cheap way to see if they can suit me or not.

I hardly dare look at the sales now - Massimo Dutti started last night and I bought a few bits from there, mainly for DH though. I really have no room left in my wardrobe atm, although plans are afoot to re-model the bedroom, including super-duper storage. I'll need it for when the AW13 starts arriving!

santamarianovella Thu 13-Jun-13 16:58:53

i think selfridges is still heavily relying on the instore sale and the items on the website are very limited.but that is no excuse for the shit site they haveangry

excellent job mr liberty! fab jacket.

linus and queen i sympathize with you,DH,goes away often to M.E,and i hate it!being alone with the dcs is exhausting, specially when they start to really miss him and ask about him all the time.and i love the chocolate indulgence prior to AF,i do that too, with ice cream!

QueenCadbury Thu 13-Jun-13 17:44:43

Well done to mr liberty!

Do not use a pillow case for washing delicates as things fall out of it (I am the voice of experience)

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Thu 13-Jun-13 17:53:14

Fab board QueenC

foxysocks Thu 13-Jun-13 17:59:42

brilliant DH liberty!

amber what were/are the issues with your rocco? would you buy again, knowing how it wears?

have looked at so many bags today, nothing quite right.

foxysocks Thu 13-Jun-13 18:00:32

does anyone have a p lim bag? what's the quality like?

MarshaBrady Thu 13-Jun-13 18:07:56

Afraid not Foxy, but I'd love one.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Thu 13-Jun-13 18:11:23

Just bought these. Hope we get the weather so I can wear some of these sandals I've been buying. Need wellies today sad

LinusDKD Thu 13-Jun-13 18:56:28

Well done Mr. Liberty!

I also wash my cashmere in my washing machine, just on a cold wool cycle and they come out ok. But maybe I should try laundry bags. What kind are suitable for cashmere?

Have got a splitting headache which may be hormonal or because it was so hot here today. I am expecting a thunderstorm any minute now because the wind is blowing something awful.

Does anyone know when the Me&Em sale starts? As I have hardly bought anything in the sales so far (stupid Selfridges) and as I have a lot of their stuff pinned on my 'would like to own' board, I hope their sales aren't a dissapointment.

I'm also thinking of coming to London for a day of shopping next weekend, but only if the sales have started in the shops.

Me&Em sale? Ooh maybe my dress will go in.......will pop in basket just in case.
liberty what a lovely DH...can't see the jacket, which colour is it?

foxy I love my Rocco, but honestly, no, I wouldn't buy again. Within a couple of months the leather trim had started to wear away and in some places is very ragged now. Admittedly I don't baby my bags but I don't feel I should have to with a rugged looking article like that. I've never been gentle with my others and they look pretty good, even the exotics.

LinusDKD Thu 13-Jun-13 19:12:37

dry I think they will have a sale, just not sure when.

wine and Toblerone are my friends keeping me company tonight.

Water and dry toast here.........have had to ditch girls night due to sudden and very violent stomach upset.........I have a stomach of steel, just don't understand it and its my long anticipated race day tomorrow sad. Tips welcome (or the health variety....but horsey ones v welcome too!wink)

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 19:37:54

Flat, warm full sugar Coca Cola Dry - poor you!

LinusDKD Thu 13-Jun-13 19:45:41

Second the Coca Cola advice, it's what DM used to give to us when we had an upset tummy when we were little.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Thu 13-Jun-13 19:54:28

Have a good day tomorrow Drywhite. We have one runner there, but I won't tell you his name because I'd be surprised if he won - he's run twice before for us and been disappointing so not really a betting prospect. I really hope he does better tomorrow though because he has shown some promise at home. Hope your tummy feels better. Coca Cola cures everything (I am an addict)

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 20:20:53

God people love Cath Kidston don't they? Bid already placed on EBay!

Annianni Thu 13-Jun-13 20:33:35

Hope you feel better soon Drywhite.

Fab dh Liberty.

Lovely shoes Grumpy.

Dhl man finally turned up...

Lovely Kors boots. They are very nice but a bit welly like on me.
Oh joy... the boot hunt continues...

Words cannot describe how lovely these are irl... They are lovely, but absolutely huge! sad
I have found them for a similar price online from the us.
But I need to decide whether to get a half or full size smaller.

Shop did you want the Sam Edelman Gracie flip flop?
I've found them for 32 plus taxes.

Charli top is really nice, it's a lovely nude colour. Probably a keeper.

Charli grey cardi is nice, incredibly long sleeves which makes a change. Probably keep this too.

Another Charli cardigan, is nice but it's a shade of brown that i'm not sure is the right colour for me.

There was also 3 other Charli tee's blush but they aren't nice... too thin, see through (and not in a nice way) and quite short too.

Right oh....have loads of coke, thanks for the tip everyone

Annianni Thu 13-Jun-13 20:39:07

Whistles grey sweat I ordered today.

Shop's lovely grey quilted sweatshirt that i've liked for ages.

I tried this recently but I think i've gone off it already grin

And i've ordered this to try with jeans... but I suspect the yellow part will make it look like maternity wear on me.

I did want this silk top, I tried it recently and it's lovely... but it's not in the sale.

mignonette Thu 13-Jun-13 20:43:37

I think you might be my first MNVogue successful recommendation!
Good luck at the races- was there a toast to Henry Cecil?

Agree with the flat full fat coke or flat Lucozade. No dairy for a few days as can irritate also. Basic advice though is if you fancy eating something, try it.

Anni I think my lower legs and ankles would look a little marooned in those Kors boots as good as they look on screen.

Linus those colour boards are beautifully composed but how does she find the time to pin all that? I waste enough time on it....

Queen am loving the colour combo board. Some interesting and fresh ideas there and reminders of old favourites too.

Am waiting for the 'Secret Life of Cats' Horizon programme to come on at 9 tonight-very much looking forward to this.

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 20:46:31

I liked this one Anni

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 20:47:20
And no, I found those Sam Edelman's for someone else. Just can't remember who.......

Annianni Thu 13-Jun-13 20:55:34

I liked that too Shop, but the back is polyester.
Thought it might be a bit sweaty.

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 20:58:24

Good all Anni I have more than enough grey sweatshirts! Even though Amber says there's no such thing!

LinusDKD Thu 13-Jun-13 20:58:28

Am taping it Mignonette so I can watch it later. Bedtime for me, night night.

Great shopping everyone.

I have 6 grey sweatshirts. Is probably enough. I want a grey hoodie though.

Am Watching Ultimate Shopper - my favourite show. Brixton Smith-Start (aka who I want to be when I grow up) is on it!

Fucking autocorrect

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 21:13:48

What channel is that on Amber?

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Thu 13-Jun-13 21:14:17

I know I seem to be bombarding you all with requests to help me find stuff, but can anyone pleeeease help me find something like this? I have a pistachio green silk Marc Jacobs halter neck and need something like this, but can I find one anywhere? Aaaargh! Going cross-eyed looking through site after site but all I can find are those weirdy stick-on jobs.

mignonette Thu 13-Jun-13 21:21:12

Amber You have one more grey sweatshirt than I do...I have a 80's fetish for them. If I include DH's tally then we own about 9 between us. Mostly pretty similar....

I used to have a Flip London sweatshirt in grey that a fashion design student friend of mine customised by binding knitted welts (think thats what they're called) onto the waistband and cuffs. They were in baby blue wool and actually looked good. She had a lot of requests for the same. Sweatshirt was stolen from a ward office when I left it on the back of my chair...angry

I recall seeing Brix Smith Start play the Cardiff Ocean Ballroom in Autumn 1984 when she was still married to Mark E Smith and in The Fall.Oh happy days..... She was such a cool chick with her guitar..

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 21:22:41
mignonette Thu 13-Jun-13 21:22:49

Rigby & Peller, Grumpy might be able to help even if they do not stock. They have encyclopaedic knowledge of bra stockists...

santamarianovella Thu 13-Jun-13 21:25:53

foxy one of my friends has philip lim bag,and is very disappointed with it,

dry hope you feel better soon.

i swear by the flat cola trick,i told a dr about it and he was all hmm

linus summer sales in london is awful, its too crowded now with tourist who are here specifically for the sales,i could not face it.

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 21:28:37
MarshaBrady Thu 13-Jun-13 21:28:56

Dry hope you feel better soon. We always had flat lemonade when we were little.

Oh what a shame about P Lim bags.

shopafrolic Thu 13-Jun-13 21:29:23

Sorry for long links - I've got wet nails!

santamarianovella Thu 13-Jun-13 21:30:28

grumpy i want one too. have been looking for ages

MarshaBrady Thu 13-Jun-13 21:32:57

Anni great Whistles shopping. I hope DHL had you on a top customer list somewhere grin. Actually not sure if Whistles is DHL.

QueenCadbury Thu 13-Jun-13 21:44:05

grumpy this bra can be worn 100 ways hmm

QueenCadbury Thu 13-Jun-13 21:45:50

Would this work?

QueenCadbury Thu 13-Jun-13 21:51:30

What about this bizarre looking contraption?

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Thu 13-Jun-13 22:25:58

Thanks Ladies! QueenC that Wonderbra one was perfect....but sold out. I have requested an email when back in stock. If I've not heard in 10 days or so it may have to be the bizarre contraption! The top exposes too much back for any over-the-shoulder straps, they have to be halter too. I thought finding a backless bra would be easy!

libertychick Thu 13-Jun-13 23:17:04

Right, proper catch up on today…

Great idea for a pin board QueenC I haven’t spent much time on pin lately but will get back into it. Hope you are feeling a bit better and that your DH is home. I like the Vero Moda blouse you bought a lot – I used to buy lots of VM but none of my local shops stock it.

Marsha I love the cobalt theory skirt you linked and the silk shirt Shop linked – will add to my list of brands to watch.

Dry DH bought me the black Brando biker – hope this link works. Now this could be risky but my Dad swears by a small drink of port and brandy mixed for stomach upsets, he has made me have it a few times and amazingly it did seem to work

Great shopping Anni. I am following your boot hunt with great interest – I find them really hard to buy too and when you do find the perfect pair and I going to follow suit smile.

Thanks all for the lovely comments about my DH smile

Grumpy good luck with the bra hunt

shopafrolic Fri 14-Jun-13 07:59:22

Morning all. Heading for North London today N19 (is that Archway?) With DS to meet an old mate / work colleague. Not sure what the hell we'll do round there if it's raining! What's everyone bought or made DH / DP for Father's Day?

Port and brandy sounds very good indeed liberty but it's only 8am and I'm due to wear heels today!!grin
Gutted that I'm not 100%, not feeling as crappy as last night ( see what I did there), should be filled with excrement ,oops excitement, but feeling rather apprehensive and hoping the horses will be the only runners today.

shopafrolic Fri 14-Jun-13 09:23:13

Grumpy the multiway is in stock (low stock tho) at fig leaves....

shopafrolic Fri 14-Jun-13 09:25:45

Good luck today Dry
Feeling pretty good today in a very basic outfit but just shows the difference good quality clothes can make I guess. Wang slubby vest over an M&S cream vest, Goldsign Lures, Hudson ankle boots, red lipstick, freshly painted nails. Will wear the new leather biker when I leave the house.
Date night with DH tomorrow night - think I might finally get to wear the Bella dress.

libertychick Fri 14-Jun-13 09:53:27

Outfit sounds lovely Shop. I don't know Archway but if weather is not good I would get the bus or Tube up to Highgate village which has lots of nice shops and cafes. Or go into the city and go somewhere like the Tate modern which has lots of space for DS to run around and a nice shop/cafe for you.

foxysocks Fri 14-Jun-13 09:53:44

DH is getting ten days in the bahamas for fathers day. if he's not here I'm not making an effort with gifts!

thanks for the dry cleaning advice amber and mignonette. such a shame about your wang (snort), the whole look and vibe of it is just what I'm after but i want something that will last years of heavy use.

I know many don't rate mulberry anymore but the bag i bought in 2005 looks amazing, is so well constructed and I have not been careful with it at all. for £400 and near daily use it's brill CPW so I want similar from my next big bag purchase

am put off by so many unlined bags, or lined with naff materials (marc jacobs, looking at you). it's not proving easy to spend money on a bag!

shop love the sound of your outfit, I adore my wang muscle vest too. the shape is uber flattering on me.

shopafrolic Fri 14-Jun-13 09:58:08

It is a fab shape Foxy, it covers the fleshy bits between my bra strap and armpit (I call them my underarm scallops) but still means I can show my arms! Will buy more if I see them. Not sure if it's the same cut as the muscle tees?
Thanks for the tips Liberty

MarshaBrady Fri 14-Jun-13 09:58:21

Shop I was going to say Highgate Village too, think it's up the hill. <waves vaguely that way>

Foxy what type of thing are looking for?

Liberty love the biker. Good work dh!

MarshaBrady Fri 14-Jun-13 09:59:12

Good luck Dry hope all good.

shopafrolic Fri 14-Jun-13 10:00:07

Oh and Foxy - agree re: older Mulberry bags - my 10 year old plus ones are still going strong but my Bayswater from 3 years ago looks as though it has had better days. Curses the bastards who stole my old printed Bayswater AGAIN.

santamarianovella Fri 14-Jun-13 10:03:56

hope you have a lovely time dry, with no accidents of course!

shop your outfit sounds great, hope it doesnt rain though,

sleep how was the cake? hope it was a success with your Dd.

libertychick Fri 14-Jun-13 10:12:46

Foxy the lining on the Marc Jacobs bags totally puts me off too.

Have you seen Rebecca Minkoff bags?. I looked at one recently in Selfridges and was impressed with the quality.

Ok, I've read skimmed the R Post, have chosen my horses, have dress on and I'm off................

libertychick Fri 14-Jun-13 10:30:05

Have a great day Dry. Seriously if things are looking dodgy the brandy and port is worth a try - can't make it worse anyway!!

foxysocks Fri 14-Jun-13 10:41:24

it's really awful isn't it, liberty? such a shame as some of the colours and squishy shapes are lovely, but it would piss me off everytime I opened it lol

marsha. I have given this some serious thought! I want something black or grey, blue at a push but depends on the shade. must be squishy leather not too stiff. must be lined. mid-size. ideally with a rock chick vibe, studs optional lol. would like option to wear cross body but not a deal breaker.

i love this rocco but it's SO expensive and if it wears badly it's out of the running

I just bought a theracane and a trigger point therapy book <wrong audience icon needed>

libertychick Fri 14-Jun-13 10:52:03

DH bought a theracane last year Foxy - it's fantastic. I will show him the link to the book - we just use the cane to press where it hurts!

So the liberty household has just been doing a collective happy dance with much cheering and wooping around the living room to celebrate DD's first poo in the potty!! She is now enjoying her chosen reward - 2 peppa pig stickers and watching her favourite U-Tube clip - wait for it - an All Blacks Haka!!!

Rocco strap is too short to wear cross body, it ends up under your armpit and you look like a dick.

My Kors gladiator heels arrived and are fabulous. Will wear them out tomorrow night with super skinnies and my Philip lim vest.

Am ridiculously excited as just drove to the supermarket on my own (well, with the kids) for the first time ever. Passed my test this week - sixth time's a charm.

libertychick Fri 14-Jun-13 10:57:10

Well done Amber!!!

MarshaBrady Fri 14-Jun-13 10:59:22

Nah everything is welcome here. Poos, well done LittleLiberty! Books, washing, driving. Vogue Lifestyle and all that.

Good brief Foxy am going to have a look around.

mignonette Fri 14-Jun-13 11:12:37

Hope you are feeling better Dry....

Some interesting developments over at Mulberry; the creative director Kate Hillier has left in what insiders are saying is a major clash with the new CEO Bruno Guillon and owner Christina Ong. They want Mulberry to compete with the Hermes and Vuittons in the luxury leather goods market and this is one reason why the bags retail price has gone stratospheric over the last few years. Hillier's departure has taken 28% off the forecast profits and a share price drop from £25 to £9:40.

Hillier does that quirky British thing very well but Guillon doesn't get that and is also adverse to the celebrity heavy endorsement that Mulberry has used so cleverly (even though I always think this ends up biting you in the bum). Continental Europe doesn't get Mulberry either and it is thus trying to reposition itself in the market.

I am very disappointed by the way my Alexa has aged. Granted it is calf hair and that is very delicate but it has eroded very badly. My Ox leather Roxanne, Mabel and Edie are all okay although the flat studs show too great a willingness to drop off.

I like this Rebecca Minkoff bag and this one too.

I have been re-reading some of my favourite articles from US Vogue. I love Plum Sykes knowingly languid 'Zelda' like writing; she crafts some great pieces about less mainstream aspects of the Fashion world. A good one to start with is 'A Twist To The Wrist' published in Us Vogue Oct 2008 in which she bemoans the dearth of garments with sleeves, especially sleeves for long arms. Another good article is about the poor finish on very expensive designer garments and her perennial search for replacement buttons and fastenings which have fallen off a matter of days after purchase (Losing Her Buttons April 2006). Stella McCartney is described as a serial offender. Another favourite article in September 2007 describes her quest for the perfect brooch and how to wear it.

These should all be in the online US Vogue archive.

Hi everyone - HOW can you be on 200+ posts on here already, I can't keep up!

Congratulations on passing your driving test Amber! grin @ sixth time!

I have uploaded a pic of the cake onto my profile - hysterical, its amazing what you can get away with if you have sufficient sparkly cake toppings grin.

Just ordered a couple of bits at 40% extra off on the Outnet, wang dress and Malandrino skirt. Trying not to get too swept up in sales fever though - staying focussed on my NAP wish list! I did have a wander around Matches yesterday (DH in tow - bit of a hindrance wink) but nothing I liked was reduced enough, the Stella dress I was lusting over not at all.

Marsha did you order that beautiful sweater you linked? It would suit you perfectly...

Novice I forgot to say well done on your work thing, sounds like it went brilliantly. Also that's amazing about the charity. PM me with some more details, it sounds really interesting.

mignonette Fri 14-Jun-13 11:20:36

Oh Amber

WELL DONE!!!! I took ages to pass my car test despite passing the bike test first time. I had to ride a motorbike for years...

RE Marc Jacobs bags, I bought my sister one of his marc by Marc Jacobs fabric totes six years ago from Outnet for about £80 and it is still going strong and looks immaculate despite her using it nearly every day to lug her nursing kit about. Amazing quality- Mulberry please take notes.....

Liberty My DH is laughing his head off at the thought of your little-DD taking a dump whilst watching a HaKa. Briliiant....grin

Thanks guys! I'm honestly not a bad driver, I just used to get unbelievable panicky before a test. My tests tended to be almost flawless with one major (where I'd lose the plot). I overcame it this time by telling no one except my DH that I was taking it. Obviously worked!

mignonette Fri 14-Jun-13 11:42:36

I developed de-realisation I used to get so anxious. I'd drive around during a lesson and not remember any of it. I would refuse to over take, turn right; all actions I had no problem with on a motorbike. I would insist to my instructor that I'd only take routes that involved no right hand turns.

I cringe at my total ridiculousness....blush

libertychick Fri 14-Jun-13 11:53:56

Amber I failed my first driving test because I get confused between right and left and throughout the entire test consistently indicated the wrong way!!
Mignonette I have been following the Mulberry story in the press too. We use the Haka to encourage DD to do all sorts of things - favourite reward in this house - it's hysterical to watch her try and do it.

This is my desired Minkoff

libertychick Fri 14-Jun-13 11:55:10

Sleep that cake is impressive!!! Your DD must have been pleased.

Thanks liberty - it really didn't bear close inspection!

Grumpy I meant to ask, depending on your size, have you looked at fashion forms? My friend thinks they are fantastic, I haven't tried suspect that my norks would be too challenging but they may be worth checking out?

Annianni Fri 14-Jun-13 12:07:59

Well done Amber.

Fab cake Sleep.

Hope you have a great day Drywhite.

Atterley rd sale is starting soon.
PREVIEW30 gets 30% off before then.

It's pouring down here.
Will check links later.

Annianni Fri 14-Jun-13 12:10:29

Lovely bag Liberty
And well done to dd grin

Ds2 keeps wanting to watch the cat programme that Mignonette linked.

santamarianovella Fri 14-Jun-13 13:12:09

sleep that is some cake!
amber are you going to selfridges?

mignonette thats very interesting, LV,is the biggest luxury brand in the world, would be stupid to compete with them.

QueenCadbury Fri 14-Jun-13 13:18:52

Well done amber. I failed first time as a bloody dog ran in front of me and I didn't check my mirrors before slamming on the brakes.

liberty I'm about to endure the trials of potty training soon. Just trying to pick the right time but dd is often taking off her nappy and has so far done a poo and a wee on the potty.

sleep very impressive!

foxy what happened to the blue or Red small Across body you wanted?? And what's wrong with MJ lining? I'm intrigued.

I used to always want a mulberry but they kind of became a victim of their own success. There's too many fakes out there and I don't think that people that cn afford real mulberry's particularly aspire to be alexa or lana del ray. I still love chanel 2.55 but hate how they have become the wag/z lister bag of choice.

Feeling much better today, hormones are back to normal and I'm not eating my own body weight in chocolate! Dh is back so dc very happy!

QueenCadbury Fri 14-Jun-13 13:24:19

I have coveted this radley for years. I know it won't be too most people's taste on here but there's just something about it that I love. I'm hoping that a to die for colour (not sure what colour i want but i'll know when it happens)will be issued in the autumn in time for my birthday.

mignonette Fri 14-Jun-13 13:53:54

Am I the only Pinner who really dislikes the new super-tiny format? It is impossible to read the text under the pins without enlarging them (and I do not want to do that every time).

I couldn't link to the Radley Queen. I do think the brand goes from strength to strength and is (possibly) repositioning itself as an alternative to the now ubiquitous Mulberry now that Mulberry has taken itself out of the mid price range bracket (the £200-£700).

Anni Your DS might want to see 'The Little Cat Diaries' on BBC2 tonight although its 10 pm slot might mean it needs recording (and screening by you for any scenes of bird and rabbit torture shock)...I have been cringing behind the cushion at the amount of nature red in tooth and claw on Springwatch. Is it me or has it become a lot more comfortable with showing baby animals being dragged to their deaths by weasels etc? I don't recall it showing quite so much reality...I am a wuss, I truly am. I accidentally smashed a snail's shell yesterday and worried about it being in pain blush so i gave it to the tame Thrush living in our garden as an act of mercy...

I have to take DS's girlfriend out on sunday to shop for a Kaftan-y thing plus some kind of coverup (scarf) for visiting the medina in a Muslim country. Any suggestions for late teenage appropriate and inexpensive wafty beach cover ups? She doesn't do the hippy Boho style-she's all solid block colours or discreet patterns, very understated peaches and mint, creams, denim and is strawberry blonde very slim and not immodest in her dress anyway (although she has fabulous legs and wears teeny shorts at home)...

libertychick Fri 14-Jun-13 14:21:56

QueenC This is the Marc Jacobs lining. You pick up a lovely bag, then open it, and it's like it has just screamed at you!

The link to the Radley isn't working - I have a small cross body Radley bag that I bought just before last Christmas and it is fantastic. Lovely leather, very simple classic shape and really well finished including nice lining. I would definitely buy another one. My ideal would be the one I have in blue or pink. The closest style currently to the one I have is the mini Holloway but my one is slightly more boxy in shape. Which one do you like? I have noticed before that links to the Radley site don't seem to work.

Mignonette - I find that TV is becoming ever more graphic especially with violence even as you say with nature programme's. I am a complete wuzz too and cannot bear anything too gory.

foxysocks Fri 14-Jun-13 14:44:42

yep liberty has demoed the awful lining perfectly.

I realised i didn't want a small coloured bag enough, queenc. I don't have many bags - two tan day bags - one tote, one crossbody - and a metallic clutch. i think a mid-size in black or charcoal would be a good addition.

think have seen some rebecca minkoff on shopbop, thanks for that rec, am off to peruse!

mignonette Fri 14-Jun-13 15:11:20

That lining is reminiscent of the Louis Vuitton Keith Haring print several years ago. Has Marc not yet got it out of his system? It is bloody rowdy isn't it? To paraphrase...'Truly a party in your bag' only the party was a 90's rave and haven't we all moved on from that?

shopafrolic Fri 14-Jun-13 15:29:58

God! I go out for a few hours and you all go crazy!
Amber CONGRATULATIONS and yes I am shouting - that's fab news
Sleep Cake of awesomeness - well done
Had a good time with my old mate, DS loved him and we had a great walk around the park and then a bite to eat (up the hill somewhere!)
DS tried to play with another little boy in the park who was chasing pigeons but the boy ran at him and shoved DS over, I am such a wuss and had to really stop myself from having a go at the kid! Me? Overprotective?

shopafrolic Fri 14-Jun-13 15:31:43

Dry I hope you're winning
I missed my Matches delivery too - frustrating as would have been good to have for the weekend.......

Did Selfridges. Just a recce as historically they slash prices on day 3 of the sale, so will pop back at opening time tomorrow. Kids were fine, we went to visit DH for lunch and they were rewarded in the Disney store.

shopafrolic Fri 14-Jun-13 15:59:13
foxysocks Fri 14-Jun-13 16:03:02

ooo well done amber! missed that. took me a few gos too, I got SO nervous.

shopafrolic Fri 14-Jun-13 16:06:04

Animal print pointed flats I so want to buy these but I reckon the hair will shed the minute you start walking?

mignonette Fri 14-Jun-13 16:11:56

I like this Bayswater sandal...

and I used to have an identical ankle strap pump from Cacharel just like this one

mignonette Fri 14-Jun-13 16:13:27

If Those animal print pumps are in similar skins to my Alexa, then they'll wear very badly, lose hair and develop shiny patches. Your cheetah's will be balding....

QueenCadbury Fri 14-Jun-13 16:20:50

Ooh, that MJ lining is pretty in your face. Tht would put me off too. The lining is part of the bag and should make you smile when you open it. The radley I love is the grosvenor. I'd love it in grey ( a true grey, not the brown grey they did last year) or a cobalt or magenta. Are you listening Radley? You always seem to do wishy washy colours.

amber you obviously have your eye on something if you're heading back tomorrow?

shopafrolic Fri 14-Jun-13 16:21:12

That's what I reckon to Mignonette but they are pretty aren't they? A bit pricey just to look at tho.....
Back to the Madewell flats!

mignonette Fri 14-Jun-13 16:25:13

Beautifully understated Queen.

The flats are gorgeous Shop. Maybe French Sole have some? I'll keep an eye out. WYB that I had a great pair of M&S Autograph leopard ballet pumps a few years back in calf hair that lasted two years before the sole developed a tear along the creases? Great value and quite fashion forward for them without their usual frippery....

libertychick Fri 14-Jun-13 16:29:02

The grosvenor is very classy QueenC I like the croc effect on the brown version. The bland colours do let the Radley bags down.

The shoes are very pretty Shop

shopafrolic Fri 14-Jun-13 16:30:23

It's the point we're all after Mignonette.
exhibit B

shopafrolic Fri 14-Jun-13 16:31:00

I haven't looked at Radley bags in years QueenC - the dog put me off!

Queen, I've always got my eye on something... ;)

mignonette Fri 14-Jun-13 16:43:52

The madewell flats are very similar to my Autograph ones. They do look great with a flat fronted cigarette pant in black and a sloppy T in that marl-opaque cotton or a sharp white/ cream shirt. Kind of slouchy-sexy-secretary grin

QueenCadbury Fri 14-Jun-13 16:56:50

amber you're very dedicated to the cause. Not sure that I could be arsed to trek up to Oxford st on a Saturday morning!

My tastes obviously aren't as bad as I thought. I thought everyone would slate the radley grin. shop the dogs aren't too bad nowadays, much more understated.

noviceoftheday Fri 14-Jun-13 17:17:21

Well done Amber! flowers and also well done liberty's dd - my dd was potty trained at 2 and then refused to do a poo in the potty for another year. sigh!

Sleep, the charity thing is very exciting. smile I am sponsoring a kindergarten and primary school with 150 children in a developing country. It's the kind of poverty where parents can't afford to send the kids to school because they can't afford the uniform, school supplies or to pay for lunch. Will pm you more details!

On fashion news..... I am trying to work out whether to finally scratch the Aspinal Barbarella itch that I have had for about 2 years. If so, red, black or navy. I am actually thinking red but not sure whether it is too.....and I can't think of the word after "too"?!

I am in the US next week. I was miserable about but I have just found out that it's 30 degrees!!! Finally get to wear my short sleeved dresses without a jacket. smile

shopafrolic Fri 14-Jun-13 17:45:28

Donna Ida instore sale now on - not sure about online?

noviceoftheday Fri 14-Jun-13 18:00:51

Hi Shop, I just pm'd you on my US trip. I have forgotten what you really wanted to buy a few weeks ago (memory like a sieve!) but have sent you details of hotel and city smile

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 14-Jun-13 18:04:48

Thanks for keeping the bras coming - haven't yet landed anything in my size, but I'll keep trying.
Having a bit of a moment as I've just checked the forecast and Tuesday's not looking good for Royal Ascot, weather-wise. Unfortunately Tuesday's dress does not lend itself well to jackets, but I have discovered this, but am a bit put off by the price (however reduced) because I don't know how much continued use I'd get out of it. What do you all think?

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 14-Jun-13 18:06:53

Oh, also wanted to add... can't remember who it was, but thanks to whoever opened my mind to Tom Ford Neroli Portofino. Bought a bottle today and can not stop sniffing myself. I don't care how weird I looked, I smell so goooooood!

noviceoftheday Fri 14-Jun-13 18:13:22

Love the coat Grumpy. It's stunning.

noviceoftheday Fri 14-Jun-13 18:14:22

Should add, not sure I would pay that much for a summer coat though! <cheapskate>

QueenCadbury Fri 14-Jun-13 18:26:32

grumpy it's gorgeous. But yes, a lot to pay if you don't think you'll wear it much.

Today has been brilliant. Singing lesson went great, tutor says I have a lot of potential and am in the soprano range.

In fashion news, I picked up two Kenneth Cole ruched jersey skirts, one black, one in snakeskin print for £7.50 for the pair! I also treated myself to a pair of faux suede, deep red studded short cowboy boots!

QueenCadbury Fri 14-Jun-13 19:58:52

That's great news one! I, on the other hand, am the worlds worst singer. Obviously when doing drunk karaoke I think I'm great though!

QueenCadbury Fri 14-Jun-13 20:00:55

I'm in love with this DVF dress. Please can someone stop me browsing for dresses 4 months in advance of the event!

Annianni Fri 14-Jun-13 20:31:31

Lovely dress Qc.

Can somebody tweet Donna Ida and ask if the sale is going to be online too, or just in the shops.
I'm not on Twitter.

santamarianovella Fri 14-Jun-13 20:42:11

amber well done ,and i must say brave,i find driving in london one of life most frightful experiences, and i cant wait to read about your selfridges buy tomorrow! it must be a good one.

queen its a gorgeous dress, but to summery for november.

any experience with ordering from neiman marcus? they have lovely things on sales, but dont want any hidden taxes or import fees,so anyone...please!

Annianni Fri 14-Jun-13 20:54:17

I've found some Paige jeans that I quite like the look of, but they are slightly more money than I usually spend.

Opinions please...

Paige jeans?!

MarshaBrady Fri 14-Jun-13 20:59:14

Lol Anni! What the!

Just a quicky QueenC this is the pin I thought of with the other blue dress. Might need a sharper, simpler clutch. But I liked the combo. Unfortunately not great for November.

Novice love the sound of your charity, fantastic.

That MJ lining is shouting isn't it.

MarshaBrady Fri 14-Jun-13 21:01:51

Sleep I loove the cake. Brilliant. I bet your dd was delighted.

And thanks! I didn't buy the top (yet!) I need to work for a bit first. Hopefully there'll be something left.

Gorgeous coat Grumpy. Between £200 and £300 would feel better in the sales I imagine.

noviceoftheday Fri 14-Jun-13 21:01:52

Marsha, have you started the contract yet?

QueenC love the dress but you will freeze your bits off in Novembergrin

MarshaBrady Fri 14-Jun-13 21:03:22

In one week Novice. One week! Am quite excited about it, hope it is good / ok.

libertychick Fri 14-Jun-13 21:03:41

Anni totally worth it as long as you have a good enough laundry bag to catch the diamonds in the machine grin

QueenC I had the exact same thought as santa - the side tie means it would be very difficult to get a jacket to work over it - stunning dress though.

No idea re neiman marcus santa - sorry.

libertychick Fri 14-Jun-13 21:10:28

Novice I am struggling for a word to follow your 'too' also - it is 'too' something...'shiny' maybe??? also possibly 'noisy' with all that hardware grin. I have a feeling that will not put you off though. smile Your charity sounds amazing.

Grumpy that coat is fantastic - as a regular on the race circuit I would have thought you would have more opportunity to wear it than most?

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 14-Jun-13 21:27:09

I am falling in love with the coat, but a bit wary of spending so much on one item. A couple more toffee vodkas and I'll probably end up buying it anyway!

Anni WTF?! Under the 'more money than sense' banner.

QueenCadbury Fri 14-Jun-13 22:55:32

Gosh, my alcohol unit count is through the roof this week!! Just enjoyed a bottle of Chablis with dh and watched a crappy rom com called playing for keeps.

grumpy buy the jacket!

anni I looked at your link before realising that you were taking the piss and was trying to think of something positive to say as I thought you really liked themgrin

I know, I know, I'm picking inappropriate dresses for November. But that's what happens when you look for something 4 months in advance. I'm sure that no money will be spent yet but I'm enjoying looking. The do will be in a hotel where I'm staying so I won't need to worry about a jacket or a handbag.

Hope you're all having good Friday nights. grumpy, enjoy the toffee vodka.

QueenCadbury Sat 15-Jun-13 07:04:40

Gah, it's 7 on a Saturday morning and i've been up for an hour. Where are you all? Are all you lovely voguettes having a lie-in envy.

shopafrolic Sat 15-Jun-13 07:18:27

No chance QueenC.I haven't had one of those in over 2.5 years sad

Well I had a fantastic day at the races. Just love it, a great day out. Grumpy I'm completely useless when it comes to betting, my completely random choices were terrible, I lost on every race! Still had a fab time. Some lovely outfits, great people watching.
liberty well done with the Hakka potty training......still psychologically scarred by my experience potty training DS 12 yrs ago!
Amber congrats. With 2,little ones it will make life a lot easier. I admire anyone who drives in London.
QueenC I love the Grosvenor Radley bag. I agree, they need to keep going with the image but the product is lovely and really good quality.
Sleep the cake is fab!

foxysocks Sat 15-Jun-13 08:36:27

i'm here queenc. successfully ignored the children till 7.30 when cries of "Mummy, I'm AWAKE" became too frequent grin

not told you all this but i've been having a few probs with NaP and the j crew jacket. just got a replacement for a faulty one and am not keen on the wash. AND it's just gone into the j crew 40% off sale. so that's £57 rather than £130. i should order and send back the NaP one, right?

that gives me extra ££ for the mythical perfect bag grin

can someone please tell me it makes sense before i hit buy and request NaP RMA? <needy> i would usually run it through with DH but of course I can't <sigh>

foxysocks Sat 15-Jun-13 08:37:33

that doesn't make sense - the wash on the replacement one is diff to the original they sent (which had faulty seams)

am thinking third time lucky at (less than) half the price.... ???

I had a lie-in until 7.30am when I had to get up to be on this train Bond St bound! Wish me good shopping karma folks!

drywhite I am historically a terrible gambler on the horses but have a good hit rate with scratch cards and the dogs <pikey>

Thanks for the good wishes re the driving all. I won't go into what I've spent to get here. Suffice to say the cost of taking the tests alone is knocking on the door of four figures <sob>

foxy I am sitting with Rocco on my lap in absolute dismay at how battered he is. Honestly this bag looks 10 years old not 6 months - save your wedge for something better! In fact, here is a link to my Instagram - I've taken a couple of shots to show you!

MarshaBrady Sat 15-Jun-13 08:40:17

foxy Yes hit RMA. A slight faff but worth it.

MarshaBrady Sat 15-Jun-13 08:42:11

Grumpy re the lovely coat you could order and return if it doesn't feel worth it.

Foxy if you use Grazia25 you get extra off on top of the 40% at J Crew

foxysocks Sat 15-Jun-13 08:47:55

O.M.G Amber. my jaw just dropped to the floor. can't believe it's worn so badly! that is SUCH a shame as it really is a gorgeous design and you would think for the money a long-term piece. thanks so much for the feedback and pics, I really appreciate it

marsha yes a bit faffy isn't it? but as i'm not happy with NaP I think it is worth it. if I LOVED the one they had sent then I probs wouldn't bother. it is a massive saving though which I will probably spunk on something else before the end of the week

grumpy LOVE LOVE that coat. gorgeous. I have a cool stone wool coat which is a similar shape, from reiss about 8 years ago. it's really useful although has had less use since DC were born, natch.

mignonette Sat 15-Jun-13 08:49:10

Up, breakfasted and so have my garden birds- have a regular crowd now including very tame blackbirds and a thrush which hops into my kitchen sometimes to smash snail shells on my stone floor (ugh).

The coat is a stayer Grumpy -endless options for changing accessories which I would imagine is a race day must. You have my vote for buy. That shade of ice suits so many different colours and textures. I think we have pinned some on QueenCadburys colour combination board.

Straw poll time -

One vote each for our perfect bag. What is yours? this is my luxury choice.

I see Bottega Veneta are also selling fabric totes at a more affordable price point for a luxury brand here

mignonette Sat 15-Jun-13 08:52:48

My god Amber - that insta alone gives a hit to their brand. I will post some photos later of the appalling state of my Alexa. It looks like it has been mauled by a leopard as opposed to being the pattern of one.

Foxy I would recommend sending it back on the basis that whenever you wear it, it'll always be the garment that disappointed you....grin...Get the increased discount and spend on something else!

MarshaBrady Sat 15-Jun-13 08:59:48

My orange Celine is looking pretty scratched and marked too. I have this idea that my wardrobe will be better kept when I'm working. I should also be able to get more of a rotation going or something.

foxysocks Sat 15-Jun-13 09:00:20

thanks amber! - £57.03 all in compared to £135 from NaP. hurrah! <polishes frugal halo> <heads straight off to harrods sale>

MarshaBrady Sat 15-Jun-13 09:01:51

Nice Mignon will link to faves later when on mac/pin.

MarshaBrady Sat 15-Jun-13 09:02:47

Wahay Foxy good one!

foxysocks Sat 15-Jun-13 09:05:01

thanks mignonette - i absolutely agree. SO good to be able to chat these details through with people who absolutely understand
marsha that's disappointing - I was going to ask you about your celine. do you have a link? where did you buy from?

am pmsl at 'mauled by a leopard'

MarshaBrady Sat 15-Jun-13 09:09:43

I think it's just me and everyday indelicate use. I'd dearly love to get another and only use it when the dc are not around. It's all those moments where you're strapping them in cars, doing the shopping it gets knocked too much.

I <whispers> would love a raspberry one, saw it once and hunted around and couldn't find it, or burgundy a la Linus or Santa (ah who was it?). I don't even know if they go on sale I should check.

McNally Sat 15-Jun-13 09:22:39

Morning all! Was supposed to be seeing my brother and family today but cancelled due to his DS having a tummy bug so sitting in PJs pondering what to do with the day. Don't want to waste it!

Def return it Foxy, especially as the wash is not great. Is a faff but worth it for that saving.

Disappointing that bags have not worn well. They need to be able to take a bit of a battering. I have a couple of Bally bags that I use for day to day that have lasted pretty well. And Bally did a bit of a refurbish on one too.

Also love Bottega Veneta mig. I want this one. Also have a real soft spot for a Birkin. Actually there are many, many, many...

Congrats on driving test success Amber. Do very little driving in London but quite enjoy it elsewhere.

McNally Sat 15-Jun-13 09:29:31

Does anyone know what the sizing on J Crew Tippi sweaters is like? I'm a 12 so would a medium be ok? Want a bit of slouch.

MarshaBrady Sat 15-Jun-13 09:30:03

Foxy this is sold out, but just to see what you think. P Lim with long strap. Actually it's suede but am sure they do leather versions.

Mignon my favourites are P Lim.

CÚline and CÚline any colour. Could probably link loads of Céline but will stop there.

Love this orange, but not sure what it is.

mignonette Sat 15-Jun-13 09:34:47

Awaits Harrods loot from Foxy

I had a try of the new Estee Lauder 'Bronze Goddess' reformulation yesterday during my lunch break. It's not a new horizon in perfume-ology but very very clever in invoking happy holiday memories. It is pure Hawaiian Tropic (which I sometimes dab on just for the scent) with a little more complexity on the dry down. I used to wear the Dior version and sit there at my desk having a subtle wrist-sniff when especially stressed-it is the essence of salt, sea,sun and coconut soaked skin.

I'm not normally an Estee wearer and the fact that it is EDT is off putting as even EDP doesn't last that long on my skin for some reason. I have the Tom Ford 'Oud Wood' and Violet Blonde full size plus testers of Ombre de Hyacinthe, Azure Lime and Black Violet. I especially recommend Azure Lime for summer evenings and holidays...Another lovely more mainstream summer fragrance is the Lancome 'O'De Lancome range. Worn by my Mother, the original is transporting for me; a zingy, nose sharp citrus-green. However I bought 'Azure' last Summer and wore it to death. It is just lovely with a floral peony overlay to the original.

I am normally an Oriental - Tobacco perfume wearer (Angel, Tabac Blonde, Ambre Nu, Vitriol D'Oeillet, Secret Oudh, Secrete Datura, Felanilla Musc Ravageur etc . I much prefer the heavier scents but these fresher lighter perfumes have been a revelation to me.

What are your Summer perfumes?

Grumpy lovely, versatile coat.....I'd get it if I were you and after freezing at races yesterday
Marsha I'd return and save the money.
Amber that's shocking. Aren't you tempted to take it back?
Mignonette I spend hours and hours in my eternal quest for the perfect handbag and the perfect jean.

Shop which Bella dress are you wearing tonight? Whistles is a new discovery for me and I'm really thrilled with my dress you know how a garment just works? Fits beautifully, fab colours.....I felt fantastic in it, now want it in lots of colours!

Annianni Sat 15-Jun-13 09:43:25

Just got to selfridges grin

mignonette Sat 15-Jun-13 09:46:42

Marsha is that bag not one of the new Hedi Slimane YSL bags? Or is it this Burberry in an orange?

That is gorgeous and the celine yellow too.

I should change the straw poll question into wish list/favourite clutch/tote/handle/shoulder/cross body shouldn't I? I also adore the Ps1 by Proenza and got this one but the colour is very impractical for so many of my more colourful outfits. It tends to come out when I'm wearing charcoal grey or indigo denim as it suits those shades best.

McNally No matter how many Birkins the Ecclestone sisters buy, they will always have style....^sigh^. I love that Bottega too but worry about keeping the basket weave clean and dust/dirt free....

Taking DS's GF out tomorrow for holiday shopping. She needs cover ups/kaftans/shoulder covering scarves....

Mignon I still love the look of the Rocco and Diego but wouldn't buy another. Next big bag buy is going to be SL Cabas Chyc. I'm pondering doing a spending ban after the sales to buy it as a birthday present to myself. Could make a decent blog feature...

santamarianovella Sat 15-Jun-13 10:03:32

omg amber, that does not look good at all!,

foxy, I would return it too,the difference is huge.

marsha linus has the burgundy, some celine bags go on sale,so some in a celine store in Paris last year. The one I have is more grained leather and have not used it a lot, maybe twice a week,so it looks great, the worst designer bag I had was an YSL muse, just awful,it scratched within weeks, and it does not hold its shape at all

mignonette i love bottega a lot! My dream bag would be this chanel grande shopper. Or this.i also want a chanel tweed jacket!

santamarianovella Sat 15-Jun-13 10:06:32

*saw , not so

shopafrolic Sat 15-Jun-13 10:12:31
shopafrolic Sat 15-Jun-13 10:14:48

Gobsmacked at the Rocco Amber - I'd be taking it back and complaining at that price!
Anni and Amber happy Selfridges shopping - I'm jealous.
Marsha enjoy your last week of freedom or is it the opposite? smile
No idea on dream bag - I don't dare start to look as I'll want to get the credit card out.

MarshaBrady Sat 15-Jun-13 10:22:45

Hehe Shop atm I feel like it's the opposite. Lets hope that feeling sticks, you know with actually doing the work and all. Not just my super quick train to a nice area and environment.

Thanks Santa I think it is definitely more me than a problem with the quality with the Celine. I use it all the time.

Have a great time in Selfridges Anni and Amber and everyone going.

shopafrolic Sat 15-Jun-13 10:23:21

I can tell you a few dream purchases though.
Burberry Peacoat
Vivienne Westwood dress
Chanel jacket and 2.55 (so there's the bag then!)
Boodles waterfall ring
George Jensen fusion ring
Ladies rose gold rolex - still haven't decided on final style!

shopafrolic Sat 15-Jun-13 10:25:50

Mignonette current summer perfume is Givenchy Dahlia Noir L'Eau

Good morning everyone! I got a lie in this morning, DH's turn tomorrow smile. Gorgeous links as usual, loving the bags, particularly the BV and of course beautiful Celine. My personal choice would be this Loewe baby, although the more sensible choice would be all black smile

Love that coat Grumpy, I bet you would end up wearing it loads. Did you order it yet?

Amber are you going to HN? I was hoping to get theory sandals in the sale but Marylebone store sold out in 39 and Selfridges didn't stock them. They suggested HN, if you wander through could you let me know if you see them please?

On fragrance-it is BIL's birthday on Monday, just remembered and we aren't in London so I need to order a present online today. Is Neroli Portofino a safe bet do you think? (I assume I will get it online), I love it but need vote of support for men (sure DSis will be happy to use it if not tho grin).

MarshaBrady Sat 15-Jun-13 10:36:26

Love that Sleep, love your list Shop, bag included grin.

Mignon thanks could be YSL not sure, possibly an old pin too.

Love the Chanel with chain Santa.

If anyone is in close proximity to a Celine trio could you see if they are on sale, thanks!

Oh shop the waterfall ring is lovely.

My dream purchases would be;
Chanel jacket
Cartier tank francaise
Hermes Birkin
A dress by Galliano, loved the dip dyed wedding dress he made (?)for Gwen Steffani (?)
I really want a pair of Chanel sunglasses too.....just haven't found the right style yet and I drop/sit on/ throw around sunnies so £££ on them is a bit silly.

QueenCadbury Sat 15-Jun-13 11:48:31

Yay, you're now all up. I've been to asda (dreadful shop on the whole but useful to stock up on basics) and had a cheeky nap!

amber I am shocked at rocco. I've had a synthetic bag from monsoon that only is just beginning to look like that after about 5 years. Have fun shopping.

foxy it makes perfect sense to return.

mignotte I adore that 1st bag you linked. The colour is divine.

mcnlly I'm loving that you have a kitchen aid on your wish list. Are you getting one? I considered it recently when my old mixer broke but decided I couldn't justify the money when I do so little baking.

grump have you bought the coat yet?

Marsha Trios did not go on sale at Selfridges and were sold out.

Sleep I did go to HN but didn't see your message until after I left - sorry!

Well, I was very restrained. Tried on a McQ skirt and a Carven dress I'd been eyeballing, but decided against both, they were nice but not amazing. There is an Equipment shirt I want badly, but at £168 still too pricey, so I will stalk for a while. HN had the navy Splendid maxi skirt for an amazing £31, but the colour was too muted for me, so I'll hold out for the grey. Was also tempted by some Stella desert boots, but I didn't love them as much as the Boden pink ones I have on order.

I only bought two things; a McQ white razor wrap bracelet (at £27 I couldn't leave it) and, my fashion serendipity moment, a pair of grey Goldsign Virtuals in my size, hiding in the HN clearance section for £82. Had wanted them for ages but never got lucky with the Outnet, so I'm very happy with that!

noviceoftheday Sat 15-Jun-13 12:35:52

Hello QueenC! Believe me, I was up too, just running round like a loon between 3 sets of children's activities. It's a whole new world!shock. However.....

this maje knitted cardigan is winging its way to the Novice household. As is this Hawick cashmere knit.

errr and this Roland mouret dress

I also bought a Herve leger bandage dress in coral but can't find the link.

foxysocks Sat 15-Jun-13 12:38:16

well done amber! the grey virtuals are lush aren't they? i wear mine all the time, was so lucky to get that last outnet pair thanks to anni if i remember correctly.

absolutely loving all the lists and links. don't we all have great taste?

marsha that shopbop p lim is RIGHT up my street. i love it. thank you!

thanks for all the jacket help - hopefully the switch will go smoothly. finally got around to the boden preview order too - pointed leopard pumps and the honeycomb stitch jumper in green. remembered quidco at the last second.

have hosted playdate this morning so done the alpha mummy bit. am about to put DS down for nap, install DD on reading eggs and switch the tennis on.

happy saturday voguettes xx

Annianni Sat 15-Jun-13 12:38:42

Got some ballet flats, black sandals, a bracelet and a tee.

Done 2 different Selfridges' and HN grin

Amber thanks for the tip.

shopafrolic Sat 15-Jun-13 13:26:09

2 different Selfridges? I'm confused.....

shopafrolic Sat 15-Jun-13 13:28:49

Novice I PM'd you back. Thanks for the offer. x

santamarianovella Sat 15-Jun-13 13:34:29

ani wow, shopping up north is not that bad grin.

Annianni Sat 15-Jun-13 13:47:24

I'm home now.
I did Selfridges at the Trafford centre, then nipped into Manchester city centre to the other Selfridges and HN.

I'll do links later.

mignonette Sat 15-Jun-13 13:47:43

Lovely bag -porn!

I too love the Loewe Flamenco Sleep- such glorious colours that I imagine would look even better under the Spanish sun.

The Chanel 2:55 and shoppers are the definition of chic.

My dream dress is a Chanel here. What would I give to own this piece of gorgeousness?

I also love this Nina Ricci.

Here are some of my sale picks. these for the Autumn/Winter and I'm considering this as pink coats will be very au courant. However medium may be too large.

Anna has Sam Edelman leopard pumps in a 37 here for leopard-lovers.

Finally, I have bought these Sam Edelman silver strap flats for Summer at full price but only just over £100.

santamarianovella Sat 15-Jun-13 14:05:32

mignonette i saw that dress in selfridges back in december, its gorgeous ,its made of denim.

sleep was it you who was after a gucci halter top? i saw one today and they are on sale on the website too.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Sat 15-Jun-13 14:19:52

Sleep I love the Portofino....on me! Not sure I'd want DH sharing it. Grey Vitiver smells amazing on DH, which surprised me as I wasn't that keen when I gave it a sniff from the bottle (and on saleslady). I'd recommend that for a man - gorgeous, clean smell.

Still loitering over the coat, but expect that to change imminently!

mignonette Sat 15-Jun-13 14:21:32

How much was that Chanel dress/ Did you get a chance to see? I love it but have to accept it is not going to happen.....sad

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Sat 15-Jun-13 14:33:05

Ordered the coat, with expedited delivery. Hope it comes on Monday because I'd really like to wear it Tuesday.

<slight palpatations> Never spent that much on one item before. You ladies are bad for my wallet. wink

santamarianovella Sat 15-Jun-13 14:39:10

i have no idea mignonette it was displayed on the mannequin,i was looking at the chanel boy bags, when i saw it .chanel resort collections are always exquisite,my fav was the one in venice a few years ago.

McNally Sat 15-Jun-13 14:44:16

That dress is beautiful mig. Can't believe it is denim. Diane Kruger always looks amazing too even if not particularly my style.

Drooling over gorgeous bags.

Have been thinking about the Kitchenaid for a while QueenC. Very lovely looking but takes up lots of counter space and quite pricey. One day I'll just crack and buy it though!

mignonette Sat 15-Jun-13 15:08:54

That sentence is worthy of best of 'Vogue' thread alone....^Chanel resort collections are always exquisite,my fav was the one in Venice a few years ago^.

My Mother bought the Cider Apple metallic KitchenAid a couple of months ago. She still hasn't used it and my DD fizzes with envy whenever she sees it. Think Mother only bought it because she knew how much DD longs for one (Mother a bit like that)....

mignonette Sat 15-Jun-13 15:11:58

Chanel resort collections are always exquisite,my fav was the one in Venice a few years ago.

As Santa said...................

libertychick Sat 15-Jun-13 15:16:19

Great links today. I haven't been pinning in a while and I try not to spend too much time thinking about things I can't have but on the wishlist are:

Burberry coat
P/S satchel
Diamond tennis bracelet

Just those, and maybe a rolex grin

QueenC I have pm'd you

libertychick Sat 15-Jun-13 15:20:37

Well done on the coat Grumpy - it looks like a classic - pricey but it's not going to date and in your business you will get the wear out of it. I would have said no if you were just buying it for a one of wedding similar.

Shop I am wearing your Gap pink sweater today and I look good without make up in it - I think, via you, I have just stumbled on a ** colour!!!

libertychick Sat 15-Jun-13 15:21:06

'one off' even...

shopafrolic Sat 15-Jun-13 15:45:24

Nice one Liberty - it is a fabulous colour. I was hoping I was a winter. I think I'm on the edge of Autumn and Winter TBH. When they did my draping so many colours were OK on me. And only a few ** - jewel tones and black came under okay colours. Strongest though are deep teals and tomato reds, so I'm stuck as an Autumn and must accept it!

shopafrolic Sat 15-Jun-13 15:46:38
libertychick Sat 15-Jun-13 15:53:05

A HoC session is on the wish list of presents I gave to DH and I think he may have booked it. I really hope I am a winter but then it's a bit daft worrying about it as whatever you are is right for you. Dithering here over ordering a Marant blouse...partly as it's only left in 14 or 16 but also as I think the colours are more on the autumn/spring spectrum I think and I am sure if I'm not winter I am a summer. DH actually said he had spoken to the HoC consultant and read the website and he's tempted to book it for me as he thinks it would save us a small fortune in failed purchases!

Anyway have to get DD up from her nap now so will ponder for another couple of hours.

Anna website another new revelation!
Shop your Bella is lovely

shopafrolic Sat 15-Jun-13 16:51:43

Oh Dry we've been posting Anna links for a while - Mignonette just reminded me to take another look. I don't think that's their main sale yet?

mignonette Sat 15-Jun-13 17:17:31

Think it is a pre-sale but their reductions are pretty serious. Those leather leggings have several hundred pounds off.

They also have something for many, price wise....

Not clothing related but have any of you been to the Icecreamist ice cream parlour in Covent Garden? I know their sundaes can be very pricey but wondering if the hype far exceeds the reality. Matt O Connor is the man behind 'Baby Gaga' breastmilk ice cream and used to be main activist in FFJ (which means I probably shouldn't put any ££ in his pocket)

Hi, mignonette thank you for the Gucci tip, seems to have gone now though sad...have had DM visiting today, she just left. Am now relying on NAP!

Great purchases Amber and Novice... Novice, can i suggest wearing the HL dress with cage sandals for when DH opens the next credit card statement wink?

No problem about the sandals Amber, maybe I should call them....

Don't think Anna sale is on yet, it's usually one of the later ones and I should get a pre-sale invitation (typically 30-40% reduction) so if anyone has their eye on anything in particular let me know so I can snap it up, though you may want to try it on first if its expensive as in-store returns are non-refundable.

MarshaBrady Sat 15-Jun-13 17:27:35

Amber you are a star! thank you. I actually feel better knowing that it doesn't go on sale as I bought it at full price.

Dry lovely list, very classic and chic.

Great sales shopping Anni and Amber!

Novice gorgeous things, the Mouret is so nice.

Foxy so pleased you love it, I can really see you with it <excited>, I do too. Definitely one I'd love to have one day. Playdate on a Saturday is good going imo.

Mignon that blue is lovely on Diane Kruger.

Grumpy well done! Will be lovely.

Liberty love that Burberry coat and Proenza Schouler satchel.

I haven't Mignon, but I have heard of it.

If we're doing One Day outfits, it would be a Derek Lam dress or here.

This is rather something too. Prabal Gurung

Tbh I'd be happy with everything on my looks I like board.

mignonette Sat 15-Jun-13 17:37:34

I cannot take the credit for the Gucci heads up, Sleep. It was Santa who mentioned it. However Sleep a help with Anna purchases would be lovely (if I have any ££££ left)....

That white Derek Lam.....Oh Marsha what a wedding dress that would make.....In fact all of those dresses are exquisite.

Oops sorry, Santa, I dashed off to Gucci website so fast! flowers

MarshaBrady Sat 15-Jun-13 17:40:49

I know, I wish I had looked elsewhere when I got married, instead of a typical bridal store - Browns Bride. I mean it's a lovely place but I felt rushed and had to get something off the rails, not made.

Would have much preferred one of those two. <whimper>

Decameron Sat 15-Jun-13 17:44:37

Quick hello from me, lots of lovely links.

Liberty, that's great your DH ordered you the jacket, good man! I love that Burberry coat, my friend has an amazing one and I am thinking of saving hard and buying one in the autumn.

I've ordered a pair of grey J Brand mavericks in the Donna Ida sale, I wear my navy ones loads so couldn't resist. Anni, do you want to pm me your email address and I can forward the email? It's 50% off on certain items.

Decameron Sat 15-Jun-13 17:45:01

Renew your vows, Marsha!

MarshaBrady Sat 15-Jun-13 17:47:43

Ha I was thinking if dh was worth not getting married again (JOKING) yes renewing vows much better grin.

Decam a Burberry coat would be perfect for you too.

mignonette Sat 15-Jun-13 17:57:15

When I saw those photographs of Keira Knightley's wedding it did make me wonder just how 'un showy' a wedding can be described as when it involves a custom made Chanel dress and Lagerfeld as a guest at the reception. However her undone hair and re-worn gown I suppose made it appear that way.

It would be good to see more weddings like that though in terms of a lovely day dress, un-fussy hair and just the joy of it.

Annianni Sat 15-Jun-13 18:06:01

I had a fab time this morning.
I dashed out of the house with no make up on, except mascara... such was my bargain hunting enthusiasm grin

Sam Edelman felicia was my first Selfridges bargain, £35 reduced from £110.
I'd pinned them ages ago.
They were also in a fab bright pink, but none in my size unfortunately.

I tried some CoH jeans that were in the sale, but they weren't a nice colour on.
They had loads of reduced jeans, but mostly small sizes.

I then went to the city centre stores, as there were some lovely sandals, but not my size available.

Sam Edelman Gwyneth was sat waiting for me in that Selfridges for a bargainous £29 reduced from £100.

Along with this Splendid tee but mine's a dark grey, and mine's a looser fit and lower at the neckline.

And finally this Marc Jacobs rubber bracelet.
It's a pale grey, i've liked them for ages... think it'll be nice layered with my silver pieces and a bit of fun for £17.

I tried a lovely navy wool Maison Scotch jacket in HN.
It was £125 reduced from £250. But i've put weight on lately and didn't want to but anything that would end up too big in the future.

Also tried the black leather Dickers again in HN.
They were reduced to £175, but I needed a 7, the 6 were too small (luckily) grin

Good haul Anni... I'm so impressed at all of your sales shopping.

Novice the Roland Mouret is gorgeous.
marsha I especially love the blue, feather print maxi....lovely

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Sat 15-Jun-13 19:24:00

Super bargain-hunting Anni!

Just catching highlights of All Blacks v France, saw a the Hukka, thought of potty training dd.....who was it? V funny!

QueenCadbury Sat 15-Jun-13 19:45:17

Great shopping everyone.

liberty I hope your dh has booked your colours. If you're getting it done, try and stay strong and don't buy anything until then. If you're like me, you just isn't be happy wearing it gain knowing it's wrong.

I'd love to renew my vows again as an excuse for a gorgeous dress and a party. Dh not so keen though.

Annianni Sat 15-Jun-13 19:48:27

Thanks Drywhite and Grumpy.

It was libertys dd Dry.

That's terrible wear on your bag Amber, I agree, take it back.

Lovely dresses Marsha and good luck for the job.

Fab frock Novice, I'd love to try a RM.

Those diamond jeans are awful.
I like my diamonds where I can see them.
Are they just for the Ecclestone sisters to buy?

Even if I had pots of money, I wouldn't spend that much on jeans.

I would however happily do a Novice spend that much on jewellery, bags etc grin

Annianni Sat 15-Jun-13 19:52:04

Hope the new denim jacket works out for you Foxy.

QueenCadbury Sat 15-Jun-13 19:52:29

My fantasy wish list would be a chanel 2.55 and an elie Saab dress such as this or this. Not that I would have any occasion to wear it though.

MarshaBrady Sat 15-Jun-13 20:30:41

Oh yes love Elie Saab too, gorgeous dresses.

Fabulous sales shopping Anni!

foxysocks Sat 15-Jun-13 20:41:46

thanks anni GREAT sales shopping! wish I'd been there to nab some jeans, still looking for a slouchy white skinny to no avail.

QueenC fabulous Ellie Saab dresses..........

santamarianovella Sat 15-Jun-13 21:21:19

queen that green elie saab dress is gorgeous!,

ani lovely haul, your are an amazing shopper.

i went to liberty today and nothing caught my eye, will wait for the nap sales for a markus lupfer sweater .i dont want to splurge ,im already getting excited about A/W shopping,so will save for that !

libertychick Sat 15-Jun-13 21:26:02

Well done on the sales haul Anni.

QueenC I think you are right that I should wait to get my colours done before making any more purchases - especially expensive ones. I did have a wobble about the biker jacket for the same reason but I think a black biker is a classic I would wear regardless of the HoC verdict. I had never heard of Elie Saab before seeing your links - that green one is just amazing - oh to have (a) the cold hard cash and (b) the life that required such a dress.

Hello Decam great idea to save for a Burberry - as I decided not to buy the Marant blouse I have instead put the £73 into my savings account. Maybe a Burberry, maybe a bag....

Dry I have a better Haka story than DD's poo!! One of my friends reckons the sexual high point of her life was a one nighter in a hostel in NZ where the object of her affections did a one man haka for her at the end of the bed before getting down to business! I have requested the same from DH but have been consistently refused (spoilsport!)

santamarianovella Sat 15-Jun-13 21:50:13

liberty you have done the right thing, saving for a burberry coat is a great idea, they are the best in my opinion,i have one in grey, burberry brit do lovely ones and are more mid range as apposed to burberry main line.

noviceoftheday Sat 15-Jun-13 21:53:42

Fab links everyone! Including the weird jeans.shock I wouldn't be wasting diamonds on jeans that's for sure! Sleep, you may just have given me the best idea card bill is due in about a weekgrin

noviceoftheday Sat 15-Jun-13 21:58:29

Can someone more seasoned than me explain the Selfridges sales to me? I am seriously baffled. Things seem to go on sale. There but not for very long. Eg the Chloe Marcie in black was on sale on Thursday at half price for about an hour (this was at 6am when ds2 was up). Also I bought this Rag and Bone bag on Thursday morning but it was at less than a third of the price. It's now back at full price.confused

santamarianovella Sat 15-Jun-13 22:06:02

novice maybe it was a mistake? the marcie bag specially in black hardly goes on sale, its a current design, and not seasonal.was it the hobo? i think i saw it on sale too,

libertychick Sat 15-Jun-13 22:17:21

Well done on getting the rag and bone bag at such a good price Novice. The selfridges website is really annoying - I have no idea what goes on with it! And yes, I thought Sleep's idea was excellent too! Did you get the Aspinal???

Santa thanks for the encouragement - thankfully I don't seem to have champagne tastes, the coat I like most is one of the cheapest they have here

noviceoftheday Sat 15-Jun-13 22:17:48

Hi Santa' it was this Marcie. I have the same one but in a salmon pink colour. I was really surprised that the black was there at half price. It briefly crossed my mind that if I had the first clue how to eBay, I would have bought itgrin

noviceoftheday Sat 15-Jun-13 22:25:21

Oh liberty, that coat is divine. I am glad Grumpy got her coat, I can admire from afarsmile

libertychick Sat 15-Jun-13 22:38:51

I have fallen in love with a mini Marcie in red. I agree with Santa and reckon the half hour of the black Marcie at half price was a mistake by someone in Selfridges - I wonder how many people got lucky??

Novice thanks for the feedback on the coat - I love it. I have spent about £200 - £300 per month for the last few months on clothes so I reckon I could buy that coat for winter if I am disciplined and buy absolutely nothing else between now and Sept/Oct - I may have to take leave of absence from S&B though to stick to that!

shopafrolic Sat 15-Jun-13 23:16:24

Back from dinner. I bottled out of wearing a dress again - I don't know why I bother buying them! I wore a cream silk Whistles blouse, Paige Jimmys and nude LKB Florettes with my nude Gina sparkly clutch.
There was a glam woman at the bar beside us with a 2.55. I nearly kissed it. Jealous does not describe.......

shopafrolic Sat 15-Jun-13 23:17:27

Weirdest customer base too with ladies footwear ranging from FitFlops and trainers to Loubs.

libertychick Sat 15-Jun-13 23:18:12

Your outfit sounds very elegant Shop.

QueenCadbury Sun 16-Jun-13 08:54:51

Morning. Dh is making the most of Father's Day and had had a lie in and now on a long bike ride hmm. So whilst the dc are happy with the wii/TV/iPad ( I am a bad mother!) I've been browsing and stumbled across this blog. I'm trying to stay away from blogs but I like this one as it has more to it than just fashion.

liberty loving the Burberry.

shop hope you had a good night

MarshaBrady Sun 16-Jun-13 08:57:40

Liberty love that Burberry. I think I might need one this year too.

Shop. great outfit.

MrsRadicchio Sun 16-Jun-13 09:43:19

The usual apologies for not being able to catch up!

Just thought I'd jump in to say - fantasy bags wise - I have a soft spot for smythson and this (minus the sparkles hmm )

Also love the chanel 2.55

I like the rocco too but that level of wear does put me off.

Some great fantasy shopping and actual sales shopping!

liberty that is a funny stories, bet the All Blacks have done that wink. The black Burberry is lovely
Novice I saw the black hobo Marcie in S sale too......impossible to buy though. Wierd .
Shop wish you had kissed the bag......!

QueenC you're lucky, my DH has said for Father's Day he'd like the whole family to go on a bike ride! He's currently watching more rugby highlights with DS , I'm keeping quiet! At least it's good for me although I might die on the big hill.

Oh no! DH just said " are you wearing that to cycle? Won't you get friction?!" ........friction? shock didn't realise we're doing the Tour de France. Worried now.

MarshaBrady Sun 16-Jun-13 10:51:13

Oh Dry... Good luck grin

Decameron Sun 16-Jun-13 10:51:15

Funny about the haka, Liberty, I love it too. My Sil is from NZ and used to play it over and over when she babysat for DD1. I want a few things from the Me & Em sale and a pair of grey jeans then I think I will save for the coat.

Enjoy the bike ride, Dry!

Lovely bag, Novice.

Have bookmarked that blog, QueenC, thanks.

Foxy, let me know if the email didn't come through, I can try again.

QueenCadbury Sun 16-Jun-13 13:31:19

Ha ha dry good luck!

QueenCadbury Sun 16-Jun-13 13:36:35

mrsR I always forget about smythson but they are indeed lovely. Just had a quick browse of their site and from their current collection this would be my bag of choice.

shopafrolic Sun 16-Jun-13 13:46:08

Just back from the shops where we had to exchange DH's RL polo shirt that I got him for Father's Day. Spotted that the Swarovski sale is on in-store up to 50% off.........

shopafrolic Sun 16-Jun-13 13:48:11

And online but worst website ever

mignonette Sun 16-Jun-13 16:50:56

Hello everyone. has an extra 10% off of the existing sale prices. Just enter VIPSALE as the discount code. Plenty of Comme there.

Anni I bought my DD that Marc Jacobs rubber bracelet in black last Christmas. She loves it. has James jeans on sale with hefty discounts plus vintage Chanel accessories and bags on sale. we're still talking at least a thou per bag but less stratospheric and they do hold their price.

Am enjoying peeking at the sales bargains. Just back from taking girlfriend of my DS out to get some holiday clothing. She is on a small budget but I did treat her to a few items- an elephant print playsuit here from New Look; this soft River Island sweatshirt; this skirt. Then she bought a straw hat which made her look like a character in a French film set in the Riviera and a pair of pink and biscuit suede deck shoes.

mignonette Sun 16-Jun-13 16:59:09

grin grin That is brilliant (Inspired to ask DH the same)

noviceoftheday Sun 16-Jun-13 17:13:02

Hello ladies! Happy Father's Day smile I at Heathrow - my last flight for about 6 weeks, hurrah! My outfit is all high street today. That lovely indigo warehouse top that either Dry or QueenC found for me, warehouse jeggings, my Primark waterfall cardigan that I use when I travel and the KG pumps I got in the sales. I then have bling and my beloved balenciagagrin

mignonette Sun 16-Jun-13 17:51:05

I'm always interested to read/hear about other women's travelling outfits. It can be one of those style-minefields.....Hi Novice...

The last time we flew to Sardinia (our regular stamping ground) the flight was full of models/stylists/photographer+assistants and very interesting it was too to see what they wore. Variations on J Brand Jeans not too skinny to avoid having to wear them until ankles have gone down, skinny long T's layered and jackets plus big big sunnies...And bare faces too. No make up which seems to be par for the course with models I've met as they're sick of the stuff.....

Today I am wearing Acne tube skirt in black on grey stripe, white Perse skinny V neck T, Sportsmax black jersey blazer and my Kurt Geiger ochre yellow calfskin thong sandals.

noviceoftheday Sun 16-Jun-13 17:54:21

I am so glad I am about to fly. The MK Hamilton tote I have loved for ages is now half price! Sigh. It looks like one of my Aspinals anyway. Oh, I didn't get the err shiny Aspinal.grin

shopafrolic Sun 16-Jun-13 17:55:50

Safe travels Novice - your hotel looked lovely by the way! Hope you get to see it and aren't office based till all hours....... If you have time / inclination can you tell me how much an Oak printed Mulberry Bayswater is at Duty Free? Are you in T5?

noviceoftheday Sun 16-Jun-13 18:04:48

Oh damn Shop, I am so sorry, I have passed through. sad yes I was in T5. On plane now. The hotel is one of my favourite chains. Them or four seasons, you can't go

shopafrolic Sun 16-Jun-13 18:05:57

Don't be daft - I should have thought to ask earlier..... DH won't be flying again for a while so it's not important. Feet up, movie on, safe travels xx

mignonette Sun 16-Jun-13 18:09:23

Bon Voyage....xx

Have a safe trip novice , where you off to this time?( missed that bit)
mignonette you are v kind to your DS girlfriend, lovely stuff. And BTW models can travel sans make up because they're beautiful and don't look as rough as a badger's arse without it, unlike me!grin

I am on a fashion high......have completely abandoned the spending ban ( why did I impose it?) and bough this..... So excited, can't wait for it to arrive. I have loved it for a while and have a blue bag gap in my wardrobe. I blame YOU MrsR for reminding me!!!!
my shopping is normally v safe, considered and reasonably priced, but ,occasionally I just fall in love with an item;you know the heart in mouth feeling and I just go for it and feel incredibly naughty but the few items I have like that are always the ones I love the most.
Now I really must impose a spending ban............but that won't be hard because I find June-August v depressing shopping wise anyway.

Oh bike ride was long, good fun but now have sore arse! would have been helpful if DH had remembered a MAP but since it was Father's Day I didn't go on about it

mignonette Sun 16-Jun-13 19:20:08

Love your Nancy Dry

I'm so tempted by that pink River Island sweatshirt I bought GF of DS- posted pic earlier. It is so soft. Is brightish pink a bit 80's Fame for a 40-something?

Mid Summer fashion did tend to be a bit meh but now we have pre-fall and cruise things are looking up!

santamarianovella Sun 16-Jun-13 19:45:33

hi everyone!
we did not have a great fathers day at all,DD fell in the garden and cut her lip poor thing, we spent the entire afternoon at A&E . the amount of blood that came out of her cut was horrifying,DH and i are both awful at accidents, we both panicked which caused the LO more distress, she was crying for hours,im glad we are home and that she is fine.

enough with the drama now!

safe trip novice and what your wearing sounds comfortable .

mignonette i loveeeee Sardinia! hoping to go this summer, we have not decided yet, do you go to costa smeralda?
i too like to have a look at what people are wearing at airports , but i find its not easy when you have a toddler, and need easy clothes to move get very limited options.

we have not heard from linus in a while, hope everything is ok smile.

MarshaBrady Sun 16-Jun-13 19:47:42

Wow Dry what a Sunday purchase! Good one!

Novice have a good trip.

MarshaBrady Sun 16-Jun-13 19:48:45

Oh no Santa always horrible when stuff like that happens. I'm glad you're home now.

LinusDKD Sun 16-Jun-13 19:52:40

Wow, I've been without internet for a couple of days and it's taken me a while to catch up.

Amber congrats on your driving licence. It took me many attempts as well. And the picture of your Rocco is unbelievable, I would go back and complain.

One well done on the singing lesson.

Grumpy I bought Neroli Portofino a couple of weeks ago but DH has pinched it. He also wears TF for Men and Creed Original Vetiver (all bought for him by me)

Mignonette my summer perfume is A la Nuit by Serge Lutens and Cristalle by Chanel.

Shop yes to a rose gold rolex. I am currently wearing an old Must de Cartier watch my mum used to wear but I would like a really nice watch one day.

I don't remember who linked to Elie Saab but his dresses are to die for. I always find the best dresses actresses at the Oscars wear his designs.

And now my favourite subject: Bags!

I bought a Mulberry Bayswater about 8 years ago and it has worn reallg well. I am gobsmacked at the prices they are charging now because LV or Hermès they aint!

Mignonette I love the colour of your PS1 and one day I would like to own a Bottega Veneta as well as a 2.55. Oh, and that Tom Ford bag and the Sofia Coppola LV bag I linked a while back.

Santa I think DM has that Chanel shopper and she also has a bag very similar to the second one you linked to. It even has a secret compartment in the bottom to put your foldable Chanel umbrella!

DM also has two Birkins, one of which will be mine eventually (but hopefully that won't be for a very, very long time). They are the Birkins designed by JP Gaultier so they are a bit 'shorter' than the original ones.

My trio does have a few scratches on it but the leather is very soft and my lifestyle (lugging DC in and out of cars etc) means I don't take very good care of my bags. I have been using my Tod's D bag Bauletto a lot recently and that is showing some scratches as well.

Right, off to have a look at the Atterley Road sale...

mignonette Sun 16-Jun-13 19:57:49

Oh what a rotten day for you all Santa. Hoping all is calm now xx

We fly to Alghero and drive/stay mainly in the NW or Central West coastal regions although I have travelled all over. I'd avoid Costa Smerelda between end of June and end of August. It is over priced, over crowded and full of 'Eurotrash'....sad

Alghero is wonderful; a little Sardinian city with Catalan influences with fabulous beaches nearby. You can drive to amazingly deserted beach paradises (La Pelosa berach is breathtaking) and it is fabulous for children-safe, accessible from the airport (ten minutes) and not grabby grabby regarding tourist cash. Check out my Sardinia pinterest board for some of the places we have been to and stayed in.

Villa Las Tronas in Alghero is a lovely if pricier hotel as is capo Caccia hotel. Other alternatives for an inexpensive family self catering break is the Bougainvillea Apartments in Alghero and the JustSardinia website sells holidays here.

In the south there are lovely beach resorts too and a great train ride across the island from coast to coast through the mountains is a great way to take a 2 day trip (you have to stay overnight).

santamarianovella Sun 16-Jun-13 20:11:19

thanks marsha & mignonette i need to learn to stay calm.

dry that bag is beyond gorgeous!

mignonette last year we stayed at hotel romazzino in porto cervo ,we got a good deal but it was still way to expensive, lovely beach though,
can you link me your pinterest board?

QueenCadbury Sun 16-Jun-13 20:25:18

dry I'm glad you survived! And wow,how gorgeous is your new bag? The only reason I didn't choose the nancy earlier as my fantasy bag is becuse of the gold hardware <fusspot emoticon>. But it truly is gorgeous.

MrsRadicchio Sun 16-Jun-13 20:27:07

Oh Dry great purchase! I love being an enabler grin

Santa glad your DD is ok now, but how awful - I hate seeing blood when DC hurt themselves, seems so much worse.

Mignonette I like the sound of your tube skirts. You inspired me to visit matalan after you said they had some surprisingly good ones, but unfortunately none in my nearby store.

Great colours board by the way QueenC. I love red and pink together and blue and green. Like the blog you linked too.

Safe trip novice

LinusDKD Sun 16-Jun-13 20:32:47

Santa poor DD, I hope she is ok now!

Lovely bag Dry. Isn't it nice when you finally buy something you have been lusting after for ages.

QueenCadbury Sun 16-Jun-13 20:36:12

novice are you still there?? Or up in the air? Just wanted to ask you about the kaliko cowl neck tops? Are they clingy? What's the sizing like? I'm an 8 on top but have 30f boobs.

shopafrolic Sun 16-Jun-13 20:51:07

She's flying QueenC
Santa what a shock, I hope you're all feeling better. One of my earliest childhood memories was splitting m lip - mainly because my parents allowed me unlimited ice cream for days. I hope she feels better soon and you get to relax tonight.
Gorgeous bag Dry

QueenCadbury Sun 16-Jun-13 20:54:47

Damn, I was hoping to catch her before she was up in the air!

QueenCadbury Sun 16-Jun-13 21:02:54

Oh well,I decided to order anyway!

libertychick Sun 16-Jun-13 21:05:47

What a gorgeous bag Dry - great price for it too.
Hope DD is ok Santa
Do you start work tomorrow Marsha?

MarshaBrady Sun 16-Jun-13 21:23:17

One more week left before I start Liberty. This time next week will be interesting! Nerves and all that.

shopafrolic Sun 16-Jun-13 21:24:49

We'll be here for virtual hugs and distraction Marsha

santa your experience pounds distressing to see your child hurt ESP when blood is involved, hope you're having a stiff drink now. Your Dd will forget all about it tomorrow, hope you can. ((((Hug))))
QueenC I'm a gold woman!grin

libertychick Sun 16-Jun-13 21:25:00

And what to wear Marsha??? [Smile]

libertychick Sun 16-Jun-13 21:25:26

Since I'm still on a fashion high, ((((hug))) do for marsha too,it will be ok

MarshaBrady Sun 16-Jun-13 21:31:24

Ah thanks guys I'm getting jittery thinking about how I'll feel next Sunday! grin.

Oh yes what to wear have started thinking about it, I'm not sure on shoes, ballet flats or Kors heels (not too high). It's not very formal. Will build outfit upwards!

shopafrolic Sun 16-Jun-13 21:35:41

All the best outfits are planned around shoes.
I'm catching up on the Graham Norton Show - Henry Cavill is still as lovely as ever

I think he looked amazing in The Tudors, looks so different now

santamarianovella Sun 16-Jun-13 21:49:15

thanks everyone, she is much better, obviously taking advantage of the extra attention everyone is paying her!

linus the jpg birkins you mentioned are the shoulder ones.they were very popular,

shop kissing chanel is totally acceptable to me,

marsha relax im sure you will ace it,

after tucking the DCS,i started looking at pins of celebs at airports, and i think that jen aniston gets it right all the time .very relaxed and luxe style, and of course all the victoria secret models look awesome while flying.

shopafrolic Sun 16-Jun-13 21:56:49

Santa I kept leaning past my DH to catch a glimpse of the bag. It finally clicked it was 100% the real deal when she wiped the bar down before putting it on the bar, logo facing outwards and kept her hand on it ALL night! I don't think I could handle the pressure owning that bag. The thing was her outfit was so classic it bordered on dull! She had beautiful hair, but a long grey maxi skirt, white tee and black blazer. Not very structured. It was as though she'd dressed for the bag, and not that the bag enhanced her outfit IYSWIM........

santamarianovella Sun 16-Jun-13 22:19:24

shop i have seen this look a lot lately, maxi +tee+blazer+chanel in an off beat color, not a huge fan of it, and i do agree there must be some pressure in owning a bag that costs well over 2 grand!

that graham norton episode was amazing, russell is hilarious and still looks so good!, i agree with dry henry looks different now, still good looking but not like the tudor days, he was soooo hot back then ! there was a particular scene that my friends and i were like WOW! we must have watched it a thousand times!

I loved GN too. Russell is my son's hero ( big Gladiator fan) and he didnt let us down. Henry stole the show in the Tudors....DS saw Man of Steel of Sat, said it was v good, wanted to go but not cool having Mum hanging around!
Love the Chanel lady wiping the counter down before placing her bag on it....sort of thing I'd do, but I'd have an anti bac wipe!!

noviceoftheday Mon 17-Jun-13 03:20:22

Hi everyone! Am stateside now (east coast).

Santa, poor you and dd. glad she's betterthanks

QueenC, sorry was in the air! No, the Kaliko tops aren't clingy. I am a 6/8, 28E. Kaliko don't do a 6 so I buy an 8 and find them slightly loose, I think if I was a perfect 8 then they would be slightly less flappy, so should be great on you. Which one did you get?

Marsha, I will be sending you positive vibes all week.

Dry, great great baggrin smythson nancy one of the best bags ever. I have it in red and yellow. I was v tempted by the blue when it first came out. Please give it a good stroke for me!

I always dress comfortably when I travel. Drives my mother insane who likes to dress up to the nines. She goes to the hairdressers before and has a mani and pedi before flying. Dresses like she's off to a party and in make up. I am definitely at the opposite end of the scalegrin I also don't do make up other than tinted lip balm, moisturise mid flight and at the end too.

LinusDKD Mon 17-Jun-13 05:58:59

NaP sale has started!

McNally Mon 17-Jun-13 06:53:44

Beautiful bag dry. Gorgeous colour.

libertychick Mon 17-Jun-13 07:05:51

MOrning all - Thanks for the early tip off Linus I have just had a wobbly moment looking at the NAP sale - tempted by the IM Ariana and the ZK Born Wild sweater but I have resisted (save for the Burberry) Also I am suddenly fat - 2.5kg gained in last month. Trying to psyche myself up to - you know - eat less, move more, so bloody boring!

QueenCadbury Mon 17-Jun-13 07:38:32

Morning. santa sorry,in the excitement t ordering tops I forgot to send a hug for you and dd.

liberty the shred is pretty amazing. I can already feel that things are firming up although I haven't lost any weight--but I eat like a pig--

novice I got green, blue and purple. I won't keep them all honest and I ordered 8s and 10s. The green which I really like the look of was only available in a 10 so hoping it won't be too big.

shop love the chanel story. Maybe after buying the bag she can't afford nice clothes grin. I don't think I really could ever own something like that as I'm too precious. Even when dd got chocolate on my new bag I was feeling annoyed and anxious and that was only £69!

MarshaBrady Mon 17-Jun-13 07:41:16

Good tip off *

good one on Burberry saving Liberty.

Foxy have sent early morning pm <coffee>.

MarshaBrady Mon 17-Jun-13 07:42:32

Linus -where'd your name go.

MarshaBrady Mon 17-Jun-13 07:43:03

In my post that is.

Morning everyone, thanks for NAP tip off, just jumped on there but it seems to be behaving much like Matches site the other day hmm. Also my coveted Gucci top is NOT reduced angry

Glad you got there safely Novice, have a good trip!

Shop I love the 2.55 too but would a) also be terribly anxious about it and b) it would irritate the hell out of me having people's starting point to think it is probably a fake grin

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 08:06:24

Aaaarrrrggggh trying to buy the Arty and it keeps crashing!
(Morning all smile )

foxysocks Mon 17-Jun-13 08:12:51

what size arty should I get?! <dither>. have quite skinny fingers, maybe 5 to wear on the middle one - shop what size are you getting?

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 08:16:17

Foxy use this and then convert on the NaP sizer x

Annianni Mon 17-Jun-13 08:17:40

I've spoken to customer services, nobody can buy anything. The whole site's down and they're trying to fix it.

They've got my number to call me back about my order, but I'm not holding my breath.

Nice man said they were swamped with calls.

Right, now have to get myself and DC's ready for school run [frustrated]!

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 08:26:06

Bloody nursery run getting in the way of my dreams!

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 08:26:32

Lurkers - I'm joking grin (but I am super frustrated!)

MarshaBrady Mon 17-Jun-13 08:27:03

Lol Shop grin

foxysocks Mon 17-Jun-13 08:28:31

waaaah me too shop! children schmuldren. I think I need a 6? but i'm not sure argh

marsha thanks for pm x

foxysocks Mon 17-Jun-13 08:30:27

maybe a 7. oh goodness I am going to be late for school, better go. dammit! bet i'll miss it now.

mignonette Mon 17-Jun-13 08:31:11

here it is...

Marsha Hopefully building those outfits will channel any nervousness constructively. It is; at least, something tangible to focus upon that is

It is going to be ninety degrees on Wednesday according to the forecast which triggers mild anxiety because my closets are heavily biased towards not-hot. I have become so acclimatised (so to speak) to cool weather that I do not really buy hot weather garments. And my holiday clothes aren't really what I would wear to work. I do have to be very careful about flashing flesh, with the client group I often work with being young males. I also have to be on call, going out alone at night for crisis management work.

Talking of holiday clothes, my DS's GF put on a little 'show' of her new outfits last night. She looked so lovely-fresh, unaffected, not plastered in make up and fake tan. Fathers Day was always going to be difficult this year in our home with it being the first since Father/FIL died and son's GF lost her father a few years ago. Taking her out shopping helped.

What a shame Matalan did not stock those tube skirts MrsR. Have you looked online? They are worth pursuing.

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 08:37:39

Foxy I'm trying to buy a 6 and a 7 - I have over £700 worth of stuff I want to buy - why can't these sites get it right!!!!!!!!??????

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 08:38:06

You can return sale stuff can't you??

mignonette Mon 17-Jun-13 08:42:35

The only legal obligation is if it is faulty but many places do. However some stores will only issue credit for sale stuff.

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 08:42:41

Woop!!! Order went through.

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 08:47:36

Marsha The full price Dagmar fell in too!

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 08:48:01

Oh God! You know you've been bad when you get a fraud prevention call from Barclays!

Can't get excited about NaP sale, have seen it all cheaper elsewhere. May be interested when the 70% reductions start.

MarshaBrady Mon 17-Jun-13 08:59:01

Shop shopping up a storm! Good one on the Dagmar.

Thanks everyone really appreciate it smile and it all breaking down to stop rising nerves.

santamarianovella Mon 17-Jun-13 09:44:45

surely NAP were expecting this! they should have been prepared for a crash! f*cking unbelievable!,amber save me a seat im joining the anti NAP sale team too.

foxysocks Mon 17-Jun-13 10:02:22

lol marsha just looked again, that jumper would be a crop top on me i reckon. too short!

have had a look through NaP, am not overwhelmed. the jeans still seem v expensive. only thing have in basket is the arty. will it stick around for further discounts do you think, oh stylish ones? or is it now or never? amber what size is yours and which finger do you wear it on?

it is SO frustrating that sites can't increase capacity or something in advance of sales launching, they KNOW it's going to go crackers for the first few hours.

LinusDKD Mon 17-Jun-13 10:06:46

The NaP website was already acting up at 7 h. CET when I was browsing, so really not impressed.

I am a bit underwhelmed with their sale to be honest. I only have a MiH breton top in my basket but as the p&p is ridiculous I probably won't be buying it.

In bag related news, I think I spotted the LV Sofia Coppola beauty in navy today at the supermarket. A lady passing me on the travelator was carrying it and I turned round several times to see if it was really the LV bag. If it had been in the red colour I am lusting after I would have run after her and given it a kiss.

I gather Swiss jails are rather plushy and DH can look after the DC so it would have been worth it. grin

LinusDKD Mon 17-Jun-13 10:36:37

Your Sardinia board looks impressive Mignonette! I have always wanted to go but now I'm even more determined.

Would you recommend going there with small children? Next summer DS will be 3.5 and DD 1.5 years old, so are they a bit too young?

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 10:48:15

I've bought the Arty Foxy on the basis that if it comes down further I'll buy it again and return the old one! Also bought a Chan Luu bracelet but am going to have a dig around later and see if it is cheaper anywhere else (anyone know about such things?).
The Dagmar sweater is full price anyway and is something I've been lusting after for ages.....

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 10:50:01

NaP order has despatched already! Shite website, swift delivery!

mignonette Mon 17-Jun-13 11:06:29

I would avoid July/Aug with very young children because the beaches are very crowded in the main holiday areas and it is extremely hot.

Before late June and from the last week in august (I have been in mid April and mid Sept and spent both weeks toasting in sunshine) would be ideal as well as much cheaper. One holiday we had two years ago when we took DS and his Gf cost us less than £1200 for 4 adults for ten days self catering inclusive of car hire, flights and accom. We booked through JustSardinia and went in mid April.

Children are very well received there as in Italy generally. Lots of accommodating in restaurants and cafes, great safe sandy beaches to putter about on with many beaches having softly shelving sea beds and of course that extraordinary pellucid and clean water to paddle in.

The food is good too. Plenty of simple pasta, pizza by the metre and bread/cheese/tomato combinations. It is easy to self cater and I still yearn for carrier bags full of miniature violet tinged baby artichokes for less than £2. We steamed them and served with butter, salt and garlic and occasionally an anchovy pounded into the butter. Saw lots of toddlers sucking on them too.

Today I am wearing this with a pale grey cashmere/merino knit short sleeve from Pure and these stripy flat form espadrilles. The espadrilles are from New Look and so bouncy and comfortable.

I'm very envy at everyone's fabulous sale shopping. All my money is being thrown at music lessons so nothing spare for pretties sad it'll be worth it in the end though. Well, I hope so at least! Currently lounging in my peruna slinky purple dressing gown practising some scales

What are you hoping to achieve with your lessons One? I am grade 8 voice, mezzo soprano. Don't do anything with it beyond singing along to the radio!

My arty is a 7 and I wear it on my middle finger.

I'm first off hoping to get my grades and then actually sing in a band or something. Actually do something with my voice. I've waited so long to do something for myself and it's now or never! I thought I'd be a mezzo myself but my teacher says I have a soprano range and can hit the 'high F' if that means anything to you amber ? Of course, I also want to get into uni and study, I have wasted so much of my life being scared of everything and hiding away, looking after everyone else and I reckon it's my time now grin

QueenCadbury Mon 17-Jun-13 11:56:39

Must just say a big thank you to liberty thanks. I am now the proud owner of this top. It fits well in a slouchy way and initially I was worried it may look a bit bet lynch with my blonde hair but adding a cardi/jacket tones it down a bit. Thanks agin liberty, I've pm'd you.

Annianni Mon 17-Jun-13 11:58:16

NaP have just rung me.
It's still broken but they will reserve items for when it's mended.

Fab top queenC I love a bit of animal print

Annianni Mon 17-Jun-13 12:01:43

I've reserved the Marant Jenny boot in dark grey.

I know 40bum tried them and said they were nothing special, but I think I've tried every other boot in existence now grin

NaP lady was rather suprised that I only wanted to reserve one item.

Good for you One, hope it all works out for you! It's nice to have an interest outside kids/job etc. I find my blog has been quite reinvigorating for me, though it's fast feeling like a second job!

foxysocks Mon 17-Jun-13 12:29:37

i love those boots anni

thanks amber and shop - still not sure whether to order. will deliberate until it sells out then i'll realise how much i need it

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 12:34:08

I love a MNV hand me down tale QueenC - glad the top works for you.
Glad things are progressing for you One - so important to have something that's all yours (not that I've managed that yet of course!)

DP has been dropping hints that he's bought and hidden some of the things I've been eyeing up. I haven't a clue which bits he's got though, he says I have to wait until christmas!

Thanks amber it's been a long time coming but I really feel like it's time for me now, I can't keep being mum, sister, carer, cook and problem solver to everyone else, it's breaking me and I need something for myself now. Since mum died a couple of years ago, my brothers and sisters have been looking to me to fill the void and I just can't do it anymore, mum was incredibly strong and gave everything up for us kids and she warned me not to become her.

Oh dear, sorry for going off fashion! I'm secretly hoping that DP managed to get the Alexander McQueen razor cuff, I've wanted one for what feels like an eternity!

Nice to have a surprise a Christmas One. My DH gets furnished with a list and my Matches sale preview code mid December and told to get on with it.

Am waiting in for my Jimmy Choos feeling impatient. Wish there was some sort of DHL tracker beyond 'out for deliery'. I want coordinates man.

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 13:10:20

Me too Amber J Crew and Matches out for delivery today - I'm going nowhere after missing them on Friday.

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 13:11:11

Not sure if there are any Hobbs lovers on here but you can get an extra 10% off sale code via their Facebook page

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 13:25:02

So the J Crew bangle is going back, and I'll be calling them to ask for a postage refund too! Rubbish quality. I assumed the calf skin ran under the gold panels, but it is stuck on unevenly and you can see white edges and glue - it looks really cheap. Very disappointed sad

Annianni Mon 17-Jun-13 13:42:54

Oh no Shop, that's rubbish.
I thought J crew would be nice quality.

I've just sent my entire Charli order back to Brand alley.
I don't think the colours were quite right on me.

And I want to return the Splendid grey tee to Selfridges, I think it's too dark a colour.
I just need to find the receipt...

I've put loads of weight on lately Liberty, it's depressing. But I can't seem to get my head into gear, to do something about it.

santamarianovella Mon 17-Jun-13 13:43:53

thanks mignonette,Alghero looks amazing, will look at it in more detail when DD takes her nap.

linus we went to Sardinia last year when DD was 11months and DSS was 6ys, and we had not trouble at all, it is a very family friendly place.

one all the best of luck .

Annianni Mon 17-Jun-13 13:46:25

That blue bag is lovely Drywhite.

And the cake was fab Sleep.
Did it taste nice?

I've got to make a chocolate cake for dsd's birthday tomorrow. And got loads of balloons to blow up (i have a balloon pump though, so it's not too bad)

Amber, have you had your hand op yet?

Annianni Mon 17-Jun-13 13:48:06

Foxy, Yoox have several pairs of Goldsign in 24's for around £50.

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 14:05:28

AV tee from Matches going back too - it's the wrong shade of blue - I thought it looked more petrol blue on screen but it isn't. Still debating whether to keep the Marant bracelet which I love. But still seems pricey for what it is.....

LinusDKD Mon 17-Jun-13 14:06:20

Anni after seeing some photo's of myself taken this weekend (oh, the joys of the digital camera) I have finally ordered the shred dvd, bought some hand weights today and had a salad for lunch (and a pain au chocolat for breakfast)

I would like to lose about 10 kilos so I have quite a long way to go.

Santa Mignonette we do take our holidays end of July/beginning of August when the nursery closes for their annual holiday.

Our summers can be pretty hot as well so I hope the DC will be used to it.

I know the Italians love babies and children but the baby friendliest place I have been to was Singapore when DS was nearly one year old. You would have thought he was a rock star, the way everyone was fussing over him and taking his picture.

One enjoy doing something you like and are good at!
I used to sing in am amateur choir (classical music, cause I am supercool. Not!) when I was in my teens and I was a soprano but thanks to smoking and drinking during my student days I now sound like a frog with laryngitis.

linus, I used to smoke like a bloody chimney and was always around second hand smoke as both parents and my older brothers smoked! oddly enough though, I still have range and my teacher says I sound like I've never smoked a day in my life hmm I still have a crafty smoke now and again as well, bad habits are hard to break grin Also, good luck with the shred! Please don't try to be brave and skip level one though, you would definitely regret it! expect to be sore for a couple of days after your first go at it, I could barely move my legs the first day after I started it!

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 14:21:09

Sending it all back - v disappointing!

MarshaBrady Mon 17-Jun-13 14:28:32

No way! Did you get it already!?

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 14:36:35

Got the Matches and J Crew orders Marsha
NaP looks to be arriving tomorrow. It'd better be good as everything so far hasn't been worth the money - even at sale prices.....

Gah - I don't think I love anything enough on NAP to order...there are a couple of pairs of shoes I would have gone for if they had my size left (will keep watch for returns) and tempted by some Choos but at 120mm the heels are just too high for me to cope with - 100-110 would be ok....still have my eye on that top, maybe it will be reduced later.

Sure there will be plenty to go at once Anna sale starts grin.

How is DD today Santa - horrible when they hurt themselves like that. DD is still traumatised by her fall at Easter, very sensitive about bumping her lip sad

LinusDKD Mon 17-Jun-13 15:07:32

Dissapointing, isn't it sleep?

I have decided that, as I am going to try and lose weight, I am only going to buy tops (never lose much weight up top) accessories and shoes in the sales but at this rate I won't find anything I really love. I guess that's one of the things MNV has taught me, only buy when you really love the item.

one envy at your voice being unaffected by smoking.

It is hot here today so I am wearing white linen trousers (my legs look even less appealing after being eaten alive by mozzie this weekend in France) navy Massimo Dutti tee and my old red gigis.

DD is wearing her finest Pampers nappy and nothing else. wink

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 15:12:37

You're making me long for sunshine Linus I still have scars from bites that are 3 months old! Not a good look! smile

lois28thoms Mon 17-Jun-13 15:17:47

If anyone's open to smaller shops going into sale, Precious london went into sale today, additional 10% off with JULYSALE10.

LinusDKD Mon 17-Jun-13 15:23:18

It's 30 degrees here today shop! But it is getting a bit overcast now which suits me fine as I need to stay in the shade anyway with my pale skin.

Precious used to be my favourite boutique when I still lived and worked in London! Some of the dresses I bought there are still my amongst my favourite items of clothing.

mignonette Mon 17-Jun-13 15:45:00

Love this but it is sold out in a 10....sad and this scarf would look good with so much of my stuff [tempted]

Linus My Father lived in France until his death last year. We are trying to work out what'll happen to his house there as although my stepmother claims they left everything to each other it is my understanding that under French law, the house has to be divided between children and spouse upon its sale. Stepma has gone strangely quiet re the issue especially as she started a new relationship with another man 4 months after death of my father....sad. Father did say that he knew the house would have to be shared with us under French law. it's all a mess really. I'd have loved one more week there as it was so special to him but we were never really welcome....

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 16:34:34

Still ££££ for polyester Mignonette

lois28thoms Mon 17-Jun-13 16:35:02

Linus Precious is still great, atmosphere hasn't changed and it's been a few years for me.

Sale has come at the wrong time of the month for me unfortunately, I hope things don't sell out as quickly as migonette is seeing.

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 16:35:15

Thanks for the link Lois28thoms do stick around and join the chat

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 16:35:33

Linus envy

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 16:36:35

Hobbs website also down - don't send emails directing people to look at your sale preview and then show site under construction - it's rubbish

lois28thoms Mon 17-Jun-13 17:12:51

Thanks shop I intend to.

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 17:26:34

So then lois28thoms - introduce yourself. What's your name and where do you come from? smile
Are you on Pin? Have you indulged in the sales?

lois28thoms Mon 17-Jun-13 17:44:49

I'm from West Sussex, no pinterest, I find social networks a bit overwhelming. Forums are where I am most comfortable, and I've been out of the loop with them for a while too. This is a big step from just hiding like usual. smile

I have not indulged beyond the essentials so far, and at this rate I think window shopping may be all I get sadly. It's still better than nothing though.

santamarianovella Mon 17-Jun-13 17:45:15

she is much better sleep ,she keeps looking at herself in the mirror and say"not good".

linus i remember what summers in switzerland were like, mosquito bites and all!

mignonette thats terrible!,surely you have the right to visit your dads house, how cruel of your stepmum.

my feud with NAP ended ten minutes ago bought a pair of gucci metallic sandals, was tempted to buy a marant jacket, but will wait a bit.

Choos arrived and are lovely, I like the square toed shape for a change. Will have to suede protect though, they seem quite delicate. At least they have rubber soles!

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 18:20:42

Definitely better than nothing lois28thoms. My grandmother used to live in W Sussex - I have fond memories holidaying there when I was little. Welcome on board smile
Have you got a link for the sandals Santa ? They sound gorgeous.
Amber glad your sales purchase is better than mine!

LinusDKD Mon 17-Jun-13 18:50:48

Mignonette it is clear that your grief is still very raw and the last thing you need is to worry about material things.

But I think it would be a good idea to talk to a French lawyer as it seems your stepmother is uncooperative and might be misguided in her belief the house is hers alone.

I don't know French law but I do know a bit about Belgian law which is very similar (both still based on Napoleon's Code Civil) and I seem to remember that under Belgian law a parent can't completely disinherit their children. Children are always entitled to a minimum of their parents estate, even if the parent died leaving a will leaving everything to someone else.

When it comes to a house I think the surviving spouse usually has 'usufruct' of the property which means they can continue to live there until they die if they wish to do so.

Maybe you can post your problem in Legal hoping some MNetter has more experience with French law and can help you understand your position a bit better?

I am so sorry that your loss is being made even more difficult because of this.

LinusDKD Mon 17-Jun-13 20:29:13

What do people think of these boots

Michael Kors

I have been looking for ankle/biker boots to wear with skinnies and skirts in winter but as I am very short and have big calves, standard biker boots look a bit chunky on me. I think these might be a bit more elegant and flattering on me but I am not sure.

LinusDKD Mon 17-Jun-13 20:30:53

Such a pretty top but I don't think it will suit me.

Iris & Ink

Shop a call from the fraud people at Barclays!... That's hilarious grin. Shame about your orders today, hopefully the NAP will be more successful. Links to what you've bought? nosey
mignonette that's v sad about your father's house.
Linus I love the top.......--great for flat chested me--

Anyone been to Guernsey?

LinusDKD Mon 17-Jun-13 20:41:11

santa I have also succumbed and ordered these in the NaP sale:

MiH breton

Splendid Tee

Oh and the mozzies were in France, not in Switzerland. Where we live we don't seem to have to many of them during the summer.

QueenCadbury Mon 17-Jun-13 20:41:28

dry yes, I have, years ago. I have a friend who comes from there.

mignonette that all sounds very stressful. Sending a hug.

shop never mind, more money for a/w stuff grin.

linus I'm not at all sure about those boots but they may look better on.

Sorry for random, non fashion related question, but v impressed with Sardinia pin board

mignonette Mon 17-Jun-13 20:46:29

Apologies to all for posting about ugly family issues on our lovely Vogue thread. I get emotionally incontinent sometimes and very easily triggered. Thanks for all your kind words though.

Now back to the clothes......Love the Iris & Ink- I'd keep things very simple and un adorned with that Linus if I was to wear it. I'm not the kind that suits heavily embellished clothing. No Boho for me despite its prettiness. The Kors boots are keepers. They will go with so much. Probably not flares or boot cut but I'd wear them with most cuts of pants and they'd suit a lot of skirts/dresses too. Wearing them with pants will elongate your legs and they won't cut across the widest part of your calves which quite frankly is unflattering to most shapes of legs.

Waving a big hello to Lois

santamarianovella Mon 17-Jun-13 20:59:15

The boots are nice linus .i think the the advice you gave mignonette is correct,I might ask some people,I'm not that great in french legal system, but it seems most of the cases in French courts are related to what mignonette mentioned. That Breton top is gorgeous.
shop these are the sandals I ordered , and shame about your orders.hope the YSL ring is a keeper.
dry that board is fab,I started following it.

mignonette Mon 17-Jun-13 21:09:34

Thanks santa...Feel free to PM me if you do know anything. God those Gucci gold sandals will look amazing with tanned feet and painted nails..

I have a YSL cocktail ring bought for less than £160. The designs and quality punch well above their price band-weight.

QueenCadbury Mon 17-Jun-13 21:12:29

linus having looked at them again and looked at some of the other designs, it's the almond toe that puts me off. I prefer a rounder toe. But that's just a personal thing.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Mon 17-Jun-13 21:20:21

Wow, you lot move really fast! Will have to have a catch up in a bit.

Well MIL and her H have arrived this evening but, despite my hardest praying, the Armani coat has not sad

Sod it. I'll just have to get bloody wet tomorrow.

noviceoftheday Mon 17-Jun-13 21:21:22

QueenC, lucky you!envy I have always loved that top! I passed because Liberty thought it might be too big (I am a munchkin but sadly, not a waif like one!!)

Hello to Lois and thanks for One and Mignonette.

Good meetings so far and I will be done in an hour ish so am heading to the shopsblush. Unusually, no dinner!

mignonette Mon 17-Jun-13 21:33:36

Tangerine dress and Attwoods.....What a delicious sounding outfit Novice...Need to see a picture of it....Do you like Sophie Webster's shoes? I have a pair of her super bright heels. They make me want to buy a ticket to Buenos Aires to dance whenever I put them on.

Grumpy I have my fingers crossed that Wednesdays 27 degrees of sunshine will arrive tomorrow for you instead...

Only keeping one!
Dagmar merino sweater
I fell in love with this Dagmar last Autumn but by the time I decided to go for it, it had sold out everywhere. Hence the full price purchase. I prefer the blue, but feel I have to try the green to scratch the itch!

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 21:54:16

Novice gorgeous, gorgeous outfit.

noviceoftheday Mon 17-Jun-13 21:58:04

Here is tangerine dress, it was actually cheap ish, about £30 from memory. This dress, blue Balenciaga, atwoods and bling totally works for me. I would never have thought of it before. Must FaceTime dh and give him peek of attwoods as I think credit card bill due soon!.grin

shopafrolic Mon 17-Jun-13 22:00:31

Foot time him Novice grin

mignonette Mon 17-Jun-13 22:19:56

Just gorgeous novice. Perfect for Summer.

Poor MrNovice will really miss you when he sees you in that outfit wink
shop I love the sweater, and the blue fom last year.....2 of my favourite colours. I love merino wool and had never heard of the brand before. Lovely. I have a bracelet from Etsy a lot like that and wear it all the time. Great stuff.

libertychick Mon 17-Jun-13 22:59:14

Have just pm'd you QueenC. I am so pleased the top works on you as it's lovely and I just wasn't doing it justice. It's really nice passing things around. I have 4 items from Shop's wardrobe all of which get plenty of wear!

Love the arty ring shop and the dagmar.

It seems a few of us are trying to lose weight - I posted it today as a way of forcing myself to do something so have decided my regime is no sugar, no milky coffees, no eating after 6pm (or if that's impossible with work, then no carbs with dinner), lots of water and walk as much as possible. Have stuck to the rules today. I have the Shred but I have very weak knees and when I tried it I was in agony with knee pain for days after (sound so bloody old). Must do some upper body stuff though as my arms are scarily wobbly!

McNally Mon 17-Jun-13 23:05:08

How disappointing about those orders shop. My J Crew order is waiting for me at home, where I'm headed now having been at work drinks (on a Monday night?! They clearly don't know Only Connect is on <sad>). At least I'm forewarned about the bangle. Hope the NaP order is more successful.

Can totally sympathise liberty. Have tried the Shred twice now. Got to day 3 the first time and day 5 the second before having to stop because of pain in my back. Boo.

libertychick Mon 17-Jun-13 23:10:46

I get terrible back pain too McNally I really need to do some yoga or pilates as I did them before and it really helped.

libertychick Mon 17-Jun-13 23:41:35

Oh Grumpy how disappointing about your coat sad. Hope the sun shines tomorrow.

shopafrolic Tue 18-Jun-13 07:10:50

Morning all!
Check this out as an impressive response from J Crew:
"Thanks for reaching out - sorry to hear your Wild Side Wide Bangle arrived in less than perfect condition.

Due to the high cost of return shipping we invite you to keep the item and do whatever you please with it. I'm happy to let you know that your original payment method has been credited for the entire order ( shipping costs included). Please know that it may take up to 7-10 business days for your return credit to appear.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to let us know if there is anything else we may assist you with - we're always happy to help."

Annianni Tue 18-Jun-13 07:42:36

Well done J crew.

Much better than Atterley Road, who haven't replied to my email about the Ash Virgo's... that I sent last week hmm

Could you fix the bangle shop?
By putting new fabric on instead?

mignonette Tue 18-Jun-13 07:58:55

The Americans know how to do customer service. Well done JCrew.
