What perfume do you buy time and time again?

(115 Posts)

Mine's Bvlgari Black - addicted to the leathery burnt rubber smell. It's the only one I'm faithful to - perfume whore in all other respects blush

Mintyy Fri 24-May-13 20:31:51

I tend not to buy it myself but my 3 regulars are Clinique Aromatics and Paloma Picasso for winter, O de Lancome for summer.

Naebother Fri 24-May-13 20:32:51

CK one. Smells like freshly laundered washing. I love it.

Roshbegosh Fri 24-May-13 20:33:39

I just like to change all the time, I like Jo Malone as I have a nice choice and can layer them. Every morning I think is this a citrus day, a floral etc. trivial but no harm done.

DuttyWine Fri 24-May-13 20:34:36

Dior addict and Cerruti 1881

Chanel 19. I've just finished another bottle off and have another in my drawer. More recently I've bought Chloe's See By. It's a lot lighter than 19 and it does seem to last. I can still smell it on me at the end of the day.

SisterMatic Fri 24-May-13 20:35:10

Womanity, Ghost Deep Night, Ange au Demon and Alien.

HilaryM Fri 24-May-13 20:35:17

Aromatiques and Chanel no5

WilmaFingerdoo Fri 24-May-13 20:35:51

Dior Addict. God I adore that stuff.

For nostalgia purposes, Samsara.

Limelight Fri 24-May-13 20:37:11

Chanel No.5. It's my signature scent wink

<trying and failing to not sound like a complete twat>

Oh I'd forgotten about O de Lancôme - I loved that in my youth and might need it again for nostalgia-feeding.

Rosh I had a massive phase of Jo Malone but always got a bit frustrated at the lighter scents not having much staying power. My fave was Nutmeg and something...

I'm currently coveting a bottle of Bronze Goddess. That way if the sun never shines I can still pretend to be on a beach.

PasswordProtected Fri 24-May-13 20:38:53

I used to adore the stupidly named YSL In Love Again, then it was discontinued. However, about 6 or 7 weeks ago I read that it was being sold again and managed to get some. Gorgeous.

MrsBertMacklin Fri 24-May-13 20:39:14

Jeux de Peau from Serge Lutens

Eau Savage by Christian Dior

suebfg Fri 24-May-13 20:39:25

Shiseido Feminite du Bois - it is just unique

Chanel Coco Mademouiselle.

I don't think I could have a signature scent to the exclusion of others though... I love too many different smells and find if I wear just one for too long I can't smell it any more on myself (even though it could be overpowering for anyone down-wind of me!).

mrspaddy Fri 24-May-13 20:43:32

chanel no 5

I only wear Coco Chanel. Am very faithful, me.
DH bought me the Mademoiselle by mistake, but it's nothing like my Coco and I gave it away.
I read somewhere they are being forced to change it or discontinue, which might well be true, as this time DH came home with Coco Nuit which is very similar in smell and packaging.

ChocolateCremeEggBag Fri 24-May-13 21:19:02

Coco Chanel for me too, and agree Coco Mademoiselle is not similar at all

Is it really being discontinued? Will need to stock up!

nurseneedshelp Fri 24-May-13 21:20:28

Alien! I love it

HalfSpamHalfBrisket Fri 24-May-13 21:22:09

Dolce Vita. Though it's been reformulated and is Not As Good As It Used To Be. I keep nearly buying vintage bottles off ebay then chickening out.

AlwaysReadyForABlether Fri 24-May-13 21:23:35

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb. Always stock up at duty free as it is so expensive.

craftycottontail Fri 24-May-13 21:24:33

J'adore - I could sniff it all day long!

Apparently it's a mad EU thing, Chocolate. here might come to nothing, of course, but it made me wonder that Chanel have created a very similar product to Coco in Coco Noir.

Longdistance Fri 24-May-13 21:26:54

Emporio Armani She/Elle. Been my favorite ever since it came out 13ish years ago.

TiggerWearsATriteSmile Fri 24-May-13 21:29:09

Perfume made me, not nauseous, more just GETAWAYFROMMESTINK when I was pregnant.
I haven't worn any perfume in over 5 years, I can't handle the synthetic smell.

Actually, some of the names on here are making me itch

NotSoNervous Fri 24-May-13 21:30:28

I like to use a lot of different but one of my favourites is pack reban black XS smile

Bexicles Sat 25-May-13 09:27:40

Alien for me too and I buy any flankers they release.

ExscooseMeMrOfficer Sat 25-May-13 09:30:17

Dolce and gabbana (red box), chanel allure and Flowerbomb. I'm a bit addicted to perfume and have about 25 bottles but these are the ones I but time and again.

Mosschops30 Sat 25-May-13 09:41:35

Coco mademoiselle

I have just discovered Clarins fragrances and think that will be my next purchase

Clarins red one. Liking the sound of burnt rubber though. If I was rich I'd buy bucket loads of Tuscan Leather.

Victoria3012 Sat 25-May-13 16:07:12

Coco Chanel.

Wallison Sat 25-May-13 16:11:59

Another vote for Coco here too. Gosh, there are a lot of us, aren't there?

And Gucci II, which I also understand is being discontinued - it's now v difficult to find.

Why are they scrapping my favourite perfumes? Is this what happens to life when you are old?

MrsMaryCooper Sat 25-May-13 19:10:31

Paloma Picasso

Green Tea - Elizabeth Arden

Anais Anais - really easy to wear.

Chanel 19

nabootheenigma Sat 25-May-13 19:15:50

I was a Chanel Allure girl for years, and now I'm a big fan of Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino. Doesn't seem to last as long as Allure, though, which is annoying given the price.

nabootheenigma Sat 25-May-13 19:17:59

Chance, not Allure! Halfway down my 'just put baby to bed' glass of wine!

bigkidsdidit Sat 25-May-13 19:20:29

I like Allure but now I only really wear Molecule 01. It's a single ingredient, apparently it changes with the wearer. I adore it, it lasts forever and I spend all dya thinking how nice I smell grin

KenDoddsDadsDog Sat 25-May-13 19:21:54

Prada Infusion D'Iris

Lambzig Sat 25-May-13 19:23:15

It is beautiful, quite sweet though.

DXBMermaid Sat 25-May-13 19:27:15

Paul Smith Rose is one that I keep coming back to. Great day time scent!

Acqua di Gioia (Armani). Nice and light and good for summer or winter.

lizzypuffs Sat 25-May-13 19:33:09

Nu by ysl. It was discontinued but they brought it back again last year. V happy.

Wishiwasanheiress Sat 25-May-13 19:35:18

Narscissco Rodriguez or something. Pink bottle. Never can say it or spell it but love the pong.

Also aqua di Parma. They are divine...

Dilidali Sat 25-May-13 19:41:44

Another Coco Chanel addict here.
For the evening I use Allure. But I need to change it.

ipotty Sat 25-May-13 19:52:41

DKNY woman. I love it!

TheBirdsFellDownToDingADong Sat 25-May-13 19:58:21

Chanel 19, Rive Gauche, Ysatis, Obsession (though sadly smells too young and sweet on me now)

MrsBungle Sat 25-May-13 20:02:22

I always have Armani she and jean Paul gaultier woman. I don't often have other perfumes unless people buy them for me as presents.

CKIN2U - lovely and light. Hate heavy perfumes.

Also a work colleague smelt lovely the other day. Asked her what is was and it's some fragrance from Soap and Glory at Boots, so i really want to find it.

OiVaVoi Sat 25-May-13 20:07:31

Green Tea Elizabeth Arden, but only in the summer

Chanel coco mademoiselle and Coco Noir

Chanel Cristalle for summer

Molecules #1 to wear alone or with any of the above smile. I regularly get chased down the street by people asking what this is (but I think it smells different on everyone).

Imscarlet Sat 25-May-13 20:16:16

Can you smell Molecule 01 off yourself bigkidsdidit ? I'm intrigued!

RVPisnomore Sat 25-May-13 20:16:17

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle here too

I can't smell it on myself at all scarlet, only on my clothes/scarves when I sniff them. Truly though, I have never had so many people (mostly women, admittedly) tell me how gorgeous I smell since I started wearing it.

Geeklover Sat 25-May-13 20:21:30

I used to love Gucci envy but they discontinued it
Now I'm loving paco rabanne lady million. Always get compliments on it.

Oh I used to love Obsession birdsfelldown. I feel like it screams my age now though grin

bigkidsdidit Sat 25-May-13 20:22:43

I can, yes, Scarlet. I love it. People stop me to ask about it, like Sleep, and I met DH wearing it - I think it was the main reason he asked me out smile

TheBirdsFellDownToDingADong Sat 25-May-13 20:32:02

Sleep- I know :-( I bought a mahoosive bottle for myself at Christmas and I put a wee bit on and think bleeeeurgh. I wore it non-stop from about 1987-1997 (dp who I met in 97 says he remembers me in it then)

Imscarlet Sat 25-May-13 20:34:46

I'm sold!! (Perhaps I should change my username!!) DH owes me a bottle of smelly since he broke one of mine and he is currently googling!! grin

bigkidsdidit Sat 25-May-13 20:36:12

I get mine from Liberty online, it is about £60 (but worth it)

CoCo Chanel is lovely (also gave away a bottle of Mademoiselle that my ex gave me in error!) and Chanel Allure is a favourite.

Completely in love with Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb at the moment...currently plotting how to raise funds for my next bottle!

I've always worn Clinique Happy so usually have a bottle of that on the go but I like to have a choice and others I buy regularly (or have as presents) include Paul Smith Rose, Hugo Boss Orange, Eternity Summer and recently Orla Kiely.

StiffUpperLimp Wed 29-May-13 18:08:24

Really, really struggling! All my favourites seem to have deserted me. Does your skin change with age - post menopausal (very earlysmile) and now all my regulars seem to have lost their scent. Help!!

hollyisalovelyname Wed 29-May-13 18:28:48

L'air du temps. Used to love Geminesse but long since discontinued alas.

Zoidberg Wed 29-May-13 22:12:15

Boudoir, Vivienne Westwood

I think this is going to be my scent from now, I've been searching for one after a break from perfume through the baby years and I recently chose this and love it. Read a lot on here about it but it doesn't smell particularly sexy/grungy on me, smells rosy an delightful.

I love Creed's Virgin Island Water, if only it had staying power, I'd love to smell like Hawaiin Tropic all day smile

I absolutely adored Fendi ,wore for 20 plus years and its been discontinued sad. Im dead fussy about perfume but now wear Coco Chanel and latest to replace Fendi is 'Feuilles de Tabac' by Miller Harris- costs the earth but its stunning IMHO..On the box description it pretentiously states that it 'takes you to the woody, smoky brasseries of Saint -Germain' ..Im a sucker for a smoky Brasseriesmile
