I am nosy grin and I'd love to know what handbag you are all using right now. Post a pic if you can. I'm after a new one and would like some inspiration!

My current one is this:

But mine is brown not black.

Purpleknickers Fri 17-May-13 15:32:40

Patent Mulberry Mabel in purple I love purple (hence my username)

Purpleknickers Fri 17-May-13 15:33:09

ps I love handbags too grin

PaperPomPom Fri 17-May-13 15:41:10

A Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Groovee in black leather. Hate the name, adore the bag.

On mobile app so I can't make proper links sad but here:

Allthingspretty Fri 17-May-13 16:01:22

Purple i am very jealous of your patent mabel.

I still regret not getting a pink patent mabel a few years ago

Purpleknickers Fri 17-May-13 16:04:00

smile thanks allthingspretty you could try e bay for a pink one maybe? I know Mulberry trawl e bay and eradicate the fakes

TheCraicDealer Fri 17-May-13 16:07:56

A fudge Mulberry Evelina. That link is probably fake btw, but couldn't find a genuine linky!

DP chose it for me when he was in Cheshire Oaks last month. I luff him.

Doyouthinktheysaurus Fri 17-May-13 16:10:07

Mulberry Antony in Goat skinconfused

It's a golden colour in reality, very nice. Bought it a few years back half price, cost about £180, can't believe the price now. I would like one in midnight blue but I can't see me affording it now.

I was thinking about it for last Christmas then prices went up again. I bought a camera insteadgrin

Kate spade.

Cheesymonster Fri 17-May-13 16:50:46

This one

Raptorrethy Fri 17-May-13 17:21:42

How wonderful to check back on one's thread and find all these beauties ((salivates)). I am seriously envy of the Mulberries...I had a chocolate congo a while ago but I sold it as the rolled straps never stayed on my shoulder and it drove me mad.

TheCraigDealer I can't open the link sad

The purple Mabel is very do you cope with no shoulder strap, Purpleknickers? Two DCs and an effervescent dog means I need to be hands free...

More more more please grin

Raptorrethy Fri 17-May-13 17:22:48

Slug - same question to you! Lovely bag (I love anything flowery - my bag is vvv dull) but needs a constant hand on it...

Raptorrethy Fri 17-May-13 17:24:46

Mulberry Anthony - so classic and PRACTICAL too! How much does it hold, Doyouthink? Does it have any pockets/compartments? fartoolazytoresearchitmyself

ShirleySharpeyes Fri 17-May-13 17:27:29

I love my bag, its a a Mimi Berry peggy, except mine is red, and made from the most beautiful leather which is looking even better now it's getting older.

KatoPotato Fri 17-May-13 17:31:00
timidviper Fri 17-May-13 17:33:52

Mine is also a Mulberry, it's a camera bag which is small yet deep from front to back so you can fit loads in. This link is prob fake though as I can't find a real one,

Arcadia Fri 17-May-13 17:41:54
After much deliberation bought this few months ago, loved it to begin with but excitement has now worn off. Don't think I will spend that much on a bag again, first time I'd really bought a 'grown up' bag!

Arcadia Fri 17-May-13 17:42:16

In tan not black

AlwaysSleepingBeauty Fri 17-May-13 17:55:21

There are some very chic handbags around!

Mine rather pales in comparison to some of these designer bags- but I'm carrying a vintage black leather bag with a metal purse style clasp. It's from the 1950s but not any particular label as far as I know.

faustina Fri 17-May-13 18:11:38

this one except in black. Unlike the picture, it's all squishy and slouchy - it doesn't stand up straight at all. I LOVE it. Also it's indestructible!

daisydoodoo Fri 17-May-13 18:19:00

My current one is a mn pet hate. Across the body messenger navy blue polka cathkidston. TThe children brought it for me for Christmas.

I do have a cupboard and a storage box full of beautiful handbags as well and often swap about but current is as above.

Mbear Fri 17-May-13 18:28:06

This is mine - execept in a deep reddy purply colour. Courtesy of my dad who decided one day that his credit card was looking a little neglected grin

Mbear Fri 17-May-13 18:28:43
GraduallyGoingInsane Fri 17-May-13 18:31:04

This is my most used bag (with the dog removed) - I love it! So very practical for day to day work use.

SundaySimmons Fri 17-May-13 18:32:19

You will laugh but I have just bought this

My daughter and I were looking for clothes for her and I started looking st bags and yes, it's Paul's boutique but I have taken off the charm and the bag is really nice. I'm nearly fifty, hardly Paul's boutique target market!

SundaySimmons Fri 17-May-13 18:32:30
LadyBigtoes Fri 17-May-13 18:43:21

White stuff collette - sorry teeny pic. I love it, the leather is thick and gorgeous, unlike most of theirs. However I've had to swap to a rucksack when out with the dc, as no longer using a buggy much to hang the bag on. So my bag is just for ladylike nights out and trips.

Allthingspretty Fri 17-May-13 18:43:34

Faust i cant see your link. Which bag?

faustina Fri 17-May-13 19:19:24

it's the le pliage cuir large bag - Longchamp

Allthingspretty Fri 17-May-13 19:24:08

Ooh faust its lovely

Purpleknickers Fri 17-May-13 19:30:05

I just carry it in the crook of my arm if I need two free hands ... Bit like a wag only I'm not posh totty sadly

faustina Fri 17-May-13 19:30:26

thank you allthings. They had a v good sale and I bought two for half price - I love them!

Raptorrethy Fri 17-May-13 19:36:39

Lovely lovely bags. I haven't seen yet that I don't like!

daisydoodoo I have already proclaimed myself a Cath Kidston lover in another thread. Which bag do you have? Is it the saddle bag or the double-zip one?

Gradually the radley link says 'item not found' unfortunately...

Raptorrethy Fri 17-May-13 19:40:45

faustina I love Longchamp. I have the one I linked to in my OP, plus a Le Pliage rucksack. I had a gorgeous Le Pliage satchel which I gave to someone and have regretted ever since as Longchamp don't make them anymore sad
Like this:

landofsoapandglory Fri 17-May-13 19:46:47

I'm using this one ATM in an attempt to feel summery.

faustina Fri 17-May-13 19:48:57

that's a lovely bag Raptor!

madammecholet Fri 17-May-13 20:06:21

Been wearing this one today from my handbag stash .. black croc leather cross body ...

Murraylover Fri 17-May-13 20:15:30
HousewifeFromHeaven Fri 17-May-13 20:16:38

mulberry bayswater tote

Its great however a little structured. I prefer if I'm honest my daria hobo so will stick to that style in future I think. Mulberry have stopped selling the large daria which I have I've noticed so I guess that aes mine a vintage!

noviceoftheday Fri 17-May-13 20:58:24

Oh i love a handbag thread!

I used Chloe Marcie in salmon pink today. Fab

Raptorrethy Fri 17-May-13 21:04:28

I know faustina sad
I am terrible for getting rid of things rather than hanging onto them just in case! I wish Longchamp would reintroduce it...

Love the Peony & Moore one madame linked to...athough it would be completely impractical for the crap essential stuff I carry. Osprey - so elegant! - and the Chloe Marcie is gorgeous although I'm dull and would prefer antique brass metalwork rather than gold. But the shape is beautiful smile

Allice Fri 17-May-13 21:09:17

I have one like this

The buy it now price is ridiculous, mine was less than £100 from Bicester. I love it, light to carry and cheap (for Mulberry at least)

umiaisha Fri 17-May-13 21:13:53

I alternate between this and my Alexa. Getting seriously tempted by some of the bags on this thread..

literarygeek Fri 17-May-13 21:16:44
piratecat Fri 17-May-13 21:17:15

ok it's per una but i love it, bought it last week. not too big not too small.

it's more cream coloured in real life.

my new bag

EuroShaggleton Fri 17-May-13 21:17:16

This is my work bag:

I love it - the three main pockets are great for organising everything, and they all zip up which is good for security on the tube.

KansasCityOctopus Fri 17-May-13 21:17:59

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS Fri 17-May-13 21:22:31

Today I am using this Mulberry oversized alexa in oak. Lots of space but bag is still really light. Fine in the rain too which is nice for Mulberry oak.

Pics of the style here:

rubytubeytubes Fri 17-May-13 21:23:18

Got to love a handbag thread!

This is what I am currently using when I am not with child, Chloe parity in tan

nowaistatall Fri 17-May-13 21:26:49
Raptorrethy Fri 17-May-13 21:28:05

I am in heaven clicking on all these links grin
A surprise each time smile

I love handbags (clearly). A handbag always looks the same even if you have a stone to lose and your hair is rubbish. It's like a completely faithful friend saddo

timidviper Fri 17-May-13 21:28:43

I have already posted upthread about my everyday bag but just popprd bag for a quick brag about my favourite bag which is this but in black, grey, brown and beige. Gorgeous and goes with anything.

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS Fri 17-May-13 21:29:07

Housewife, I love your bays tote <3

Raptorrethy Fri 17-May-13 21:33:26

nowaistatall linking to P&M reminds me I have admired the Olivia from afar for's now out of stock.

Does anyone have the Olivia? Is it very narrow depth-wise?

Allthingspretty Fri 17-May-13 21:34:44

Tipid..i have a vw bag too. V similar to you. Can we be bag twins

MooseBeTimeForSpring Fri 17-May-13 21:38:06

Either my Longchamp Arbre De Vie like this but in white

Or this my tan Storksak Sofia

MacaYoniAndCheese Fri 17-May-13 21:45:27

This in Ocean Blue. It's quite structured, smells like a saddlery and is big enough for my iPad and diary. I love it so much I got it in red, black and plum too <boring>.

parabelle Fri 17-May-13 21:49:54

DH bought me this for Christmas and the matching purse for my birthday - I love it.

Barbie1 Fri 17-May-13 21:50:25

Oh favourite subject wink

I'm currently alternating between

Or if I'm going somewhere without the kids I carry my Chanel 2.55... Well I'm in paris so it's rude not too wink

I also love my mulberry and tanner Krolle bags, currently all sat in dust bags and haven't seen the light of day in a while due to mostly carrying around the stork sac which is full of nappies, mini raisins and toy cars hmm

Cavort Fri 17-May-13 22:01:55

I alternate between my Chloe Parity in tan or my black Gucci Jackie depending on what I am wearing.

I am currently expecting DC1 and I am determined my lovely bags will not be replaced by a changing bag despite my friends telling me otherwise. grin

ChablisLover Fri 17-May-13 22:03:32

I am alternating between a blue version of the zara a like shopper from stylist pick and an anya hindmarch maxi satchel in red.

Also have a pauric Sweeney hobo bag in reserve

Have stored my winter handbag away - mulberry roxanne in purple. I love this bag.

Barbie1 Fri 17-May-13 22:22:26

cavort being the bag junkie that I am, I too was determined not to have a baby bag...

Until a bottle leaked all over the mulberry and a yogurt exploded in the Chloe shock thankfully they cleaned up ok.

Stork sac was the closest thing to not looking like a baby bag.

I still throw the baby bag under the pram and carry a nice bag blush.

I'm such a bag snob

janji Fri 17-May-13 22:26:06

Black oversized mulberry del rey.

Hulababy Fri 17-May-13 22:30:26

A mulberry messenger one in dark chocolate brown leather - like this:

MN is unreal. Handbag threads are the only ones that make me think MN and reality are completely removed from each other. I don't know a single person irl with a Mulberry handbag but every other person on here seems to have one!

My favourite was from the Hobbs sale and is a tan leather camera bag. It was £60.

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS Fri 17-May-13 22:45:39

But to be fair, Remus, you are in the S&B section where peeps tend to be interested in fashion bag obsessed grin

HousewifeFromHeaven Fri 17-May-13 22:46:05

remus I don't know anyone apart from myself who owns one either. Everyone thinks I'm crazy. That's why I love MN, I can share bag love without being made to feel I shouldn't spend so much.

ChablisLover Fri 17-May-13 22:56:11

Love handbags. S&b laies are a bad influence on me.

A colleague has a lv ( logo one) but my anya is going unnoticed. That's hey I love it - it's understated and not in your face.

ChablisLover Fri 17-May-13 22:56:47

Blooming IPhone ( or the 1/2 bottle of sauv Blanc!)

Camwombat Fri 17-May-13 22:57:28

I have this bag sadly mine has a puree stain on it where DS put an unfinished open one in it unnoticed, grump....

BeehavingBaby Fri 17-May-13 23:00:56

Teeny, so use a tote as well, but the lock makes me happy every time I use it smile

Corygal Fri 17-May-13 23:03:02

I was sitting here cackling at all the people rushing onthread to display their Mulberries & then I realised I was using mine today...

It is a properly vintage one - cross-body, tiny, none of the bells and whistles of the statement bags. I think it's older than me. Indestructible. Hang onto them, is all I can say, they never die.

TheOriginalSteamingNit Fri 17-May-13 23:06:08

You know the advert for VW Polos, with the tall woman? She has a slouchy brown bag in one bit which I love, and I want it.

Any ideas?

HousewifeFromHeaven Fri 17-May-13 23:08:00

What does everyone think of Louis Vuitton purse

I have a multicolore zippy coin that I've used for three years and still looks like new but I need a bigger one.

I like a nice bright purse so that I can see it!

Which other purses are similar can anyone recommend?

Stevie77 Sat 18-May-13 00:11:13

remus you assume people tell the truth...

this is my life is now complete bag
which I recently purchased and do feel a little bit sick at how much it cost.
Then I have this for day to day use:
stripy flowers!

and this when I dont need to carry much:
well similar anyway but mine was cheaper
Though I now have fallen in love with the Sak one too but I really really can't afford it and I am no longer in the States.

noviceoftheday Sat 18-May-13 05:44:15

Remus, it is exactly as i expected on a S&B thread! I have said this before about mulberry bags, they are everywhere and it seems like every other woman on the morning commute has one. For that reason, the bayswater is a good classic but certainly in central London in the morning, its looks like a herd of them going to workgrin

The links are all lovely but the ones to the Chloe Paraty are making me swoon. Beautiful bag. There was a hobo linked earlier, M&S I think, that looks fab.

Raptorrethy Sat 18-May-13 07:16:12

housewifefromheaven that purse is gorgeous!

Have you also looked at Orla Kiely? Like these beauties

Raptorrethy Sat 18-May-13 07:22:02

Mulberry is popular! And why not? So are skinny jeans, converse, boden, m&s undies in general in the UK. I live abroad where you never see mulberry but every other lady carries a Longchamp...and so do I grin

There are so many bags linked to in this thread I can't pick a favourite. Someone linked to something grey with birds & flowers but link does not work...I'm intrigued though, could you try again?

Raptorrethy Sat 18-May-13 07:23:58

camwomabat it was you smile

Wuldric Sat 18-May-13 07:33:22
Barbie1 Sat 18-May-13 07:37:39

raptorrethy are you in France?

Longchamp is the bag of choice here on the outskirts of Paris.

Was thinking of getting one for the plane. Tres chic to carry one through the airport, non? wink

noviceoftheday Sat 18-May-13 07:39:05

It's like Coach in the US. Didn't want one when I lived there, suddenly want one now!grin

fresh Sat 18-May-13 07:55:41

Osprey Maudie in Orange - has a cross-body strap too. Fabulous lining. Hopeless for anything work-related tho.

Queazy Sat 18-May-13 08:00:05

Wow - so many people with crazily expensive bags!!! I have a tote from banana republic smile Nice leather. I even bought that with a 30% off voucher! Everyone spends on different things, but I can't imagine spending £800+ on a handbag x

PlumSykes Sat 18-May-13 08:02:16

Just switched, for summer, to my Mulberry Alexa in petticoat white, which is a creamy white.

Raptorrethy Sat 18-May-13 08:11:35

Jealous of all of you who manage to carry a white handbag - it would NEVER LAST with me!! I have very grubby DCs grin

Barbie - yes I am in France! Longchamp everywhere. Incidentally, could you take a look at this site
They are selling the Le Pliage messenger bag I desperately want BUT I have no idea if they are genuine. I emailed them and they replied saying they are genuine and they get them straight from the factory...but I am not sure...

Raptorrethy Sat 18-May-13 08:13:36

Plumsykes just taken a look at your profile evernosy
You are far too young and fresh-faced looking angry you cannot possibly be 33??

chickensandbees Sat 18-May-13 08:18:08

Mulberry here as well. Got a lovely bayswater clutch in oak from the outlet store in shepton mallet a couple of weeks ago. Its small and just fits my phone wallet sunglasses. But i love it.

Also have an oversized alexa in chocolate which is my all time favourite.

Barbie1 Sat 18-May-13 08:23:04

To be honest I would be wary. Of course the company will say its the genuine article only.

I would be contacting long champ head office. Either ask for a list of confirmed stockist and maybe alert them to the website.

I know most high end brands sell through minimal outlets to keep them 'all exclusive'

MoodyDidIt Sat 18-May-13 08:23:09

i have this balenciaga giant city

i love it sooooooo much

Raptorrethy Sat 18-May-13 08:31:39

Good idea, Barbie...I know it's cheap but I still don't want to end up with a shoddy fake!

Hulababy Sat 18-May-13 08:59:38

I had a longchamp bag a few years back. Then left it in a taxi sad

noviceoftheday Sat 18-May-13 09:14:49

sad Hulababy, I would have been wailing!

MoodyDidit, I will be using the balenciaga giant city in royal blue today. I agree it's a gorgeous bag smile

Allthingspretty Sat 18-May-13 09:15:12

Any orla Keilly fans in london? i posted it on thursday but there is an orla keily sample sale in lonfon imvludomg today i believe.

Mulberry Mitzy Hobo in oak

ExscooseMeMrOfficer Sat 18-May-13 09:19:01

I'm currently using my mulberry oversized Alexa in conker. I love it it's holds loads and goes with everything smile

ExscooseMeMrOfficer Sat 18-May-13 09:21:23

Love all those links but sadly cant buy a new handbag as I think dp wouldn't be amused but im happy with my purple seude one from warehouse which I got off ebay for less than a fiver

Raptorrethy Sat 18-May-13 09:24:44

Mulberry mad mumsnet wink

If this thread was started France all the links would be Longchamp.
In the US, Coach?

Not sure about the top brands in other countries...

Currently alternating between Rocco though mine is slightly lighter grey and a white Michael Kors jet set tote I can't find a photo for.

ImTooHecsyForYourParty Sat 18-May-13 09:29:34

I'm using one I got from the local charity shop. It's lovely. sort of a carpet bag but beaded, multicoloured. the beads form flowers. and the handles are two belts.

noviceoftheday Sat 18-May-13 09:31:00

Hi Amber, I think the MK jet set tote is at John Lewis. I was looking at the tangerine and navy versions earlier. way too scared of white

I love the Mulberry Mitzy hobo. Its such a lovely slouch bag. Perfect for weekends.

Raptorrethy Sat 18-May-13 09:35:14

Ooh I really like that Rocco, amber envy

Barbie1 Sat 18-May-13 09:56:56

When I lived in Dubai it was all Gucci and guess bags, the more bling the better, back in London mulberry ruled.

I was hoping to use my Chanel more here in France but haven't really had the chance, haven't seen too many around either which surprised me. Guess I need to frequent rue st honore more!

MoodyDidIt Sat 18-May-13 09:57:28

oh i LOOOVE that mulberry alexa excooseme envy

yeah i do love balenciaga, i think they just go with everything. and i just love the soft squishy leather and slightly rock n roll studs

i have the same one in red as well (but have not got a shoulder strap for it as i bought it on ebay for a steal because of the lack of shoulder strap its prob fake as well knowing my luck )

IShallCallYouSquishy Sat 18-May-13 10:05:09

When not carting around all my 1yo's crap I use my beautiful Chloe Paddington. It's a stunning buttery black leather and I love her grin

nowaistatall Sat 18-May-13 10:57:22

Raptorrethy - I wanted an Olivia too - so rang customer services -- they are doing it in another colour soon I was told . . . . but they wouldn't tell me the colour .

MoodyDidIt Sat 18-May-13 11:03:55

oh i love chloe paddingtons ishallcallyou

i used to have one in black as well, she was my first ever "designer bag" but sold it when i was skint a while back and i MISS HER :,(

Camwombat Sat 18-May-13 11:46:59

Sorry, here is the link again to the bag I have. I love it and am hoping DH buys me a second one

GraduallyGoingInsane Sat 18-May-13 11:47:26
Raptorrethy Sat 18-May-13 12:19:22

That grey birds bag is soooooo pretty camwombat! But far too small for me to copy buy.

Elegant Radley, gradually - such a classic shape.

I'm keen to know what colour the mysterious Olivia will be, nowisall. Probably white knowing my luck!!

Camwombat Sat 18-May-13 12:33:24

I think in comparison to most people I know I carry very little with me!

I look at bigger bags and then lose things!

You should see the size of my Dooney & Burke going out bag!

Camwombat Sat 18-May-13 12:35:23

Bourke even! it fits my phone, keys, lippy and tiny purse.

Crunchymunchyhoneycakes Sat 18-May-13 12:45:34

I have this tartan doc martens satchel. I don't know anyone that spends hundreds of pounds on bags, mental.

YoniOno Sat 18-May-13 12:54:14

I'm taking this out today, but when my order arrives next week I shall be clutching this and never letting go.

Raptorrethy Sat 18-May-13 14:29:41

Yoni envyenvyenvy you lucky thing!!

issimma Sat 18-May-13 14:36:35

I want this oushka one.

I like that DM stachel - much, much nicer than the Zathcels and Cambridge ones. smile-

Since everybody is talking about designer ones and making my tiny Hobbs one feel rather insignificant, I have also got a Gucci one - pink suede with tan handles BUT I won it in a writing competition and (although it is v beautiful) don't use it very much at all - maybe just once a year.

I could never, ever justify more than about £80 on a bag, even if I was ten times richer than I am now.

Hulababy Sat 18-May-13 16:06:01

Novice - I was! Bag also contained my Gucci bangle watch and my mobile. Called taxi firm within 5 min if being dropped off but they claimed it wasn't there. Odd as we live a few miles out if town and he was unlikely to have picked up another fare on his route back.

Hulababy Sat 18-May-13 16:08:43

Should add hat I am not really a bag person at all, nor shoes. I have what I need shoe wise and my bags are always gifts. Mulberry was from DH and it is perfect for me as holds what I need, is strong enough to cope with being bashed about a bit and brows over my shoulder. I do have a couple of Radley messenger bags too which I had before it and a lovely little cream Radley bag for going out which my sister bought me.

Thecatsmum Sat 18-May-13 18:26:01

Have no idea what predictive text thought, mulberry etc not wax?

Awks Sat 18-May-13 20:06:10

I so want an Antony.

BrennieGirl Sat 18-May-13 20:43:25

This is what I am currently sporting. I got it in a Coach outlet.

I have a couple of other Coach bags which I don't really use. I also have a few Mulberrys (my favourite bags) and a few Furlas. Love them all.

Chottie Sat 18-May-13 20:53:36

Mulberry Alexa in grey (Bicester buy). I just love it, it is an all year round bag.

Chottie Sat 18-May-13 20:54:06

I love bags too.....
