I have black. Would never have chosen but were S1s originally.

If you replaced yours what would you get?

Nehru Mon 06-May-13 08:26:43

(Looked at them in John Lewis on sat. Had done kind if bourgeois nail promotion going on. I lurked. Woman sat there. No offer to paint nails. V bizarre )

Cherrypie32 Mon 06-May-13 08:33:19

Well it wouldn't have been my first choice but just bought brown Brazil's as only £10 from Matalan. They do go with everything. Fancy silver but they are over double the pricegrin

roughtyping Mon 06-May-13 08:33:29

All of them! I love them smile

I have a gorgeous royal blue pair with black flower design and black straps. They are my favourites.

Nehru Mon 06-May-13 08:35:17

Some kind. Typo. Sorry

Nehru Mon 06-May-13 08:35:43

My black ones have the Brasil thing on. Like that

uggmum Mon 06-May-13 08:37:10

I bought a lovely pink pair yesterday from Costco. They are fab

I've got about 6 pairs - my favourites are silvery grey with very thin straps and a russian doll design on the inner sole, also a tiny russian doll charm on the strap. Others are red with the same russian doll design, bright pink with hearts, yellow and blue with flowers and plain white. Best with a tan are the pink and white ones....

MortifiedAdams Mon 06-May-13 09:35:28

teal

Notfootball Mon 06-May-13 09:46:55

I have about 6 or 7 pairs too, never paid full price as I have picked them up in TK Maxx on holiday. Favourite ones are the grass green pair and the pink ones with pink, white and green flowers on the insole.

MrsBertMacklin Mon 06-May-13 09:47:58

I've actually got my eye on the new edition animal print ones - the leopard print ones in particular.

The ones I own, which were worn to death and disposed of last year, were black soled with a muted gold strap.

Notfootball Mon 06-May-13 09:48:02

*Or on holiday

Nehru Mon 06-May-13 09:49:50

ah yes
here are mine

in store they had some with multicolured faces on the under bit.
The heel looks a lot thicker than I remember, mine are ancient though

Notfootball Mon 06-May-13 09:58:03

Those are lovely. Can hear my bum squeaking at the price though.

Umlauf Mon 06-May-13 10:03:35

Plain white with slim straps. So dainty! I love them!

Nehru Mon 06-May-13 10:04:31

White. Hmm. I'm interested. Wonder if neon pink animal might be a bit " ooh I'm crazeee cupcakes"

noddyholder Mon 06-May-13 10:08:02

I love my black ones but on darker skin friends I am envy of the colours and patterns

Haven't got any, but if I did I'd go for plain blacck (none of that bright flag coloured nonsense - just plain black) or pewter. Are they really worth £20? I usually buy plain black £5 jobs from M&S and chuck at the end of summer.

JacqueslePeacock Mon 06-May-13 10:13:51

£24 for a pair of flip-flops?! <skulks away>

mrspaddy Mon 06-May-13 10:14:35

I have a dark brown pair that I bought in Australia. The only thing that lasts and is comfy.. they are still in great condition.

noddyholder Mon 06-May-13 10:14:53

They are worth the money I was begrudging initially but if you wear a lot its comfort and they are a nice shape on foot

LadyClariceCannockMonty Mon 06-May-13 10:15:10

I want a pair in every colour but I like the sound of the teal ones.

VerySmallSqueak Mon 06-May-13 10:16:14

Don't know what colours they do but for Summer I like copper/brown colours for footwear.

I noticed that they had lots in TK Maxx last week btw, if anybody is interested. Didn't look at the price though.

noddyholder Mon 06-May-13 10:18:43

Thanks remus

Umlauf Mon 06-May-13 10:21:05

Ohhhhhhhhhh those grace ones on the site are lovely! .....

Umlauf Mon 06-May-13 10:22:33

Nehru I'd never have gone for white, only got them to wear on my wedding day (I don't really like wearing shoes!) and have worn them sooooo much since, I love them! Make feet look lovely and tanned, too.

racmun Mon 06-May-13 10:26:35

I've just bought black soled with a muted gold strap. They're thin strapped and don't have the brazil flag on them they just say Haviannas in gold.

They are lovely and go with everything. Got them in Office and I think they were £25.99

YoniMontana Mon 06-May-13 10:27:16

Do you wear them as everyday footwear in summer or just on holiday?

LadyClariceCannockMonty Mon 06-May-13 10:29:07

Forgot to say, I have a black pair and hot pink, but the latter are a bit disappointing; started to look quite grubby quite fast.

They are worth the money; very comfortable and thick cushioned soles, so you don't feel as though you're jarring with every step as you do with thinner cheaper ones.

Nehru Mon 06-May-13 10:56:46

i love the flag

Nehru Mon 06-May-13 10:57:28

Yoni i wear them as slippers in autumn/spring often, I wear them as shoes to go swimming in to avoid hassle, to put washing out in

then all summer

TheCraicDealer Mon 06-May-13 11:04:12

I have the white ones with the fleg. Got them a few years ago and some of my friends were all "twenty quid for flip flops?!". Then they tried them on- flip flop heaven. Still v comfy and have held up wear wise, but do need a bit of a wash.... Do you think they'd be alright in the washing machine?

cornypringle Mon 06-May-13 11:08:09

I have a black pair and the pair before these were brown.
Think the brown were a bit nicer on my pasty feet.

They are expensive but worth it - they last forever and seem to be comfy right up to the end, when the pattern inside has worn out and the edges are worn away. I wear mine every day as I live in a very hot country. I have washed mine and they were fine at 30C, came out very clean grin

noddyholder Mon 06-May-13 11:10:47

I am glad you can wash them am going to look for mine. Like the sound of brown though or gold

Silver, goes with everything, gorgeous with a tan and pretty nail varnish. I have silver ones with grey soles with turquoise trailing flower design and similar with hot pink soles with flowers. Grey more versatile but both lovely. Don't get white, shows dirt too easily! Gold is lovely too and I am ever so tempted by electric blue/neon shades I saw the other day. Decided they were definitely holiday wear only though, somehow they seem much more casual than silver confused, I am aware of how ridiculous that sounds, given they are flip flops but..grin

GypsyFloss Mon 06-May-13 11:39:32

Have got black slim fit ones which I love, the most comfy flipflop ever. Silver ones are on their way from asos as I type .

Nehru Mon 06-May-13 13:20:36

But if you can wash white..

I have red, green and some slim ones in a neon pink strap with a patterned base - love them

Uggmum - how much were they in Costco?

Anyone got these? Are they as comfy?

Umlauf Mon 06-May-13 15:31:21

I haven't had to wash my white ones yet and they have stayed really clean looking, amazing as I've worn them to death. They aren't the same material as the accessorize ones that really do pick up dirt. I might wash them now I've read you can though! Grr this thread is bad- I've been encouraged to buy more! Going to get the black I think...

I tramp around London streets in mine so perhaps they get filthier than others grin, also very lazy about washing them so not the best combo!

I don't get these. I have a pair and they look and feel like any old two quid jobs.

spottymoo Mon 06-May-13 17:17:39

do they not rub inbetween your toes ive had similar in the pass but bin them after the toe blister comes

LadyClariceCannockMonty Mon 06-May-13 17:40:44

I usually get toe blisters but no, Havaianas don't do that. They're more comfy than most flip-flops; the soles are thick and firm so there's no jarring, but they're also soft and comfortable and your feet don't slide about in them/get sweaty as they do in cheap plasticky ones.

TSSDNCOP Mon 06-May-13 20:01:53

I have navy and another pair in pink. Navy looks great with skinnies, utilities and chinos.

I like the sound of dark brown though.

I love the leather strap ones I have seen, they are my next purchase.

I've got brown ones and also some teal green ones that are lovely.

YoniOno Mon 06-May-13 21:22:24

Bargains if you're a sz 5 - you're welcome, now find me size 4s...? hmm

YoniOno Mon 06-May-13 21:26:17

I have these already - I have blonde hair and I have a weird thing about matching bags and shoes to my hair. But this thread's making me want more...

FrugalFashionista Mon 06-May-13 21:37:19

How they are washed in Brazil: scrub vigorously with washing powder. Rinse. Lean against a wall to dry. Repeat frequently. The slim ones are my favorite type.

Olivermoliver Mon 06-May-13 21:40:15

I bought these a couple of weeks ago, and they are my first pair: www.surfdome.com/havaianas_flip_flops_-_havaianas_slim_season_flip_flops_-_white/coral-125460. Really like them and very comfy, v impressed so far!

thenightsky Mon 06-May-13 21:41:08

Do they make ones for skinny-skinny feet? I always have about 4 inches of strappage floating the air above my feet in normal flip-flops, which means they just fly off randomly.

DerbyNottsLeicsNightNanny Mon 06-May-13 21:42:08

which size would you get for a UK 6.5? Have seen some on John Lewis website but only come in S, M, L.

YoniOno Mon 06-May-13 21:46:39

Frugal does that work for coloured ones ok? Am eyeing these now

Nehru Mon 06-May-13 21:48:32

I don't like slim. I have chicken feet.

Awks Mon 06-May-13 22:05:42

I have black sans flag and green avec flag. Like the plain ones best. Re sizing, they come up big so buy a size smaller if poss but do the foor measuring thing just to make sure

FrugalFashionista Mon 06-May-13 22:24:07

Hard scouring will eventually cause some fading but mine were scoured once a week for several years wink I used to be a hard-core Havaianista - wore them every day for years, including long hot walks. I even managed to wear my favorite pair out (the thong part snapped). Have still several pairs customized with little diamante flower, frog, and butterfly charms. Simple denim blue is my favorite color.

I have very slim, narrow and long feet and the slim strap model is just right for me. The wider straps feel too bulky and coarse on me but might work well on different feet. I had a pair of Ipanemas too, very pretty gold-white sakura pattern, but they felt coarser and faded very quickly <connoisseur>

FrugalFashionista Mon 06-May-13 22:27:03

Re sizing, Brazilian sizing 39-40 is Eur 40-41 and just right for my Sz 40.5-41 feet.

£10 from matalan - 3.95 delivery or collect free from store

ItsYonliMe Tue 07-May-13 01:54:32

I'm confused. Why would anyone have more than one pair of flip flops? When do you wear them? I take mine with me when I go on holiday so I can go onto the beach. They're a bit of rubber that's all confused

FrugalFashionista Tue 07-May-13 06:09:48

I used to live somewhere very warm where everyone wore flipflops all the time just like we wear ballet flats, trainers or ankle boots (all of which were too hot for that type of climate). I still use them as house slippers in the summer.

I wear mine every day it is warm through the summer, definitely not just on holiday. That £23 is made to work hard!

GypsyFloss Tue 07-May-13 07:53:20

I wear mine around the house all the time and casually out in the summer, in addition to hot holidays.

YoniOno Tue 07-May-13 08:48:49

Thanks Maketea. Havs for a tenner

Umlauf Tue 07-May-13 09:58:20

I live at the beach so they are my exclusive summer footwear. Only have 2 pairs though, plus Birkenstocks!

Do they have them in store in matalan? I want to see what all the fuss is about before I shell out for them

They don't have them at my matalan, ordered a pair to collect at the weekend. DH has had the same pair for years, still going strong

Nagoo Tue 07-May-13 12:38:45

Marking place for you all to make me spend more money. <sigh>

AmberLeaf Tue 07-May-13 12:47:18

I need some decent flip flops.

They are all I wear all summer long.

Ive not had a pair of havianas before, but I suppose for a pair of shoes that will last £20odd is not expensive.

Best pair of flip flops I ever had were Kurt Geiger ones that were free with Elle magazine about 9 years ago! Not found them again at any KG outlets though.

Wore a cheapy pair last week and now I have sore feet, so seriously considering some decent ones.

Had a look, no Havaianas but I did get a dress for the poxy wedding I'm going to next month so result!

I don't even know if I still have the pair I had. They're either far far down in the back of the understairs cupboard or I got rid. I just don't remember them being all that. Am intrigued now though.

MrsBertMacklin Tue 07-May-13 14:00:42

This inspired me to go to TK Maxx today, picked up a nice pink & silver pair for £10. They were the only nice ones left = extra smug.

tomatoplantproject Tue 07-May-13 16:10:14

I have brown slimline ones with a gold strap and pink floral design. Its about my fifth pair - I would never buy any other make. I live in them all summer and use them as flip flops the rest of the year. I travelled through Latin America a few years ago and wore them pretty constantly - they survived several madcap adventures including by mistake a 5km walk. They are so comfy and make me smile whenever I put them on.

maybemyrtle Tue 07-May-13 18:38:36

I love them. They are worth it for me because I do live in them during the summer. They are literally all I wear on my feet between May-September and I do wear them until they fall apart. Currently I have plain black Tops for work, black Brasils (a bit worn down), yellow/green Brasils and grey Brasils. I'm trying to work out if I need some metallic ones for this summer or if I could just customise a pair I already have. Agree that they collect dirt, I'd be wary of white/light coloured ones.

However, great tip about the washing machine - I scrub them by hand every few weeks in the summer, but putting them in the machine is genius!

maybemyrtle Tue 07-May-13 18:42:18

Oh and the difference (in my experience) between havaianas and cheaper flipflops is that havs don't rub, ever, and the weight. Havs are denser, more supportive, comfier, more durable. If you pick up a pair of havs in one hand and a pair of cheaper ones in the other you can really notice it.

Stila Tue 07-May-13 19:09:36

I love my Havaianas , cheap flip flops feel odd (and very flat) after wearing havaianas .

I have loads all from overseas or TK Maxx . My favourites are these Greek ones .

OK, I took delivery of my pair from Matalan today and am wearing them round the house. I still don't geddit. They feel like, well, flip flops. I was expecting super comfort. They still feel thin and have sharp plasticky straps and the toe bit.

Still, only paid a tenner for them so they'll do for summer slippers.
