I am ill in bed and my wandering fingers have spend £169 on this curling tool - I hope it doesn't gather dust like alot of my other 'my hair will be amazing after this' purchases. Anyone else lost their minds and bought one? Is it worth it? Please lie to me if it isn't....

FrantasticO Wed 17-Apr-13 21:48:22

Seen it on you tube, looks great!
Let us all know how you get on.
Get well and get curlinggrin

TwinkleSparkleBling Wed 17-Apr-13 21:56:46

Yes, I did the same I blame threads like this. Couldn't wait to try it, so used it on straightened hair & it was rubbish. Put it down to the fact that, at just below the jawline, my hair was too short.

However, gave it another go on washed hair (as the instructions say [blush) and.......

yes the hype is worth it. Amazing curls in less than 10 mins.

Pricey but worth it for sure. Hope you enjoy yours grin

It's a flipping mazing!

I really need to hide these threads.

I have heard they are bringing a cheaper version out later this year so will hopefully be able to wait until then to get one.

Do a link somebody I'm intrigued! Please

Crutchlow35 Wed 17-Apr-13 22:12:40

They seem to have good reviews but a sock bun will do exactly the same for the price of an old sock!

Pendipidy Wed 17-Apr-13 22:17:27

What is a sock bun ?

Crutchlow35 Wed 17-Apr-13 22:20:52

if you go to you tube it will show you. hair overnight in a sock and you have curls.

Pollykitten Wed 17-Apr-13 22:21:44

so excited! I have also ended up on youtube looking at sock buns and also purchased a massive hair donut and some seche vite topcoat. Oh, and Revlon Lipbutter. Not good for the finances being ill!

Sweetie, link to bun or styler?

SherbetVodka Wed 17-Apr-13 22:23:33

Sock buns only work if your hair is fairly long, you can't do them on mid length hair.

sweetiepie1979 Wed 17-Apr-13 23:20:03

Thank you for link yes they look great! I'm sure your hair will be fab. I like the sock idea I might give that a go.

I've got mine, it's amazing, awesome and easy. Even for a klutz like me.

eagerbeagle Fri 19-Apr-13 15:43:08

Arghhh I want one <<starts plotting on how to conceal excessive expenditure on frivolous item from DH>>

valiumredhead Fri 19-Apr-13 15:46:07

Massively overpriced, the BB Big Hair was too - the price is madness compared to GHD's.

they'll all be on ebay soon wink

hermioneweasley Fri 19-Apr-13 15:51:51

This sounds like something my boss was describing yesterday. He has quite a few daughters and his wife has purchased one of these - he had to spend ages curling them all. The image of this incredibly respected and statesman-like CEO playing hair salons with his girls had me in stitches.

flossieraptor Fri 19-Apr-13 16:18:54

I could practically sell the perfect curl door to door. I spent about half an hour on my hair last night and this morning it still looks perfect - big loose curls. I know it's expensive but I have absolutely found it worth the money for me - although clearly if I wasn't so utterly inept or unwilling to learn, I could achieve the same effect more cheaply.

flossieraptor Fri 19-Apr-13 16:19:50

Hermione grin picture him with some sectioning clips in his teeth, eyes narrowed in concentration...

valiumredhead Fri 19-Apr-13 16:28:09

If a product works flossie and it's expensive but you use it loads and love it then it's absolutely worth the money - I'm just not convinced grin

Hermione I love that mental picture of him playing salons grin

Just ordered one ! Dh doesn't understand he says I've got loads of curling products already !
Free straighteners with the link above too. I'll let you know how they are when they arrive

Al0uise Mon 22-Apr-13 13:01:23

I curled my hair on Thursday. The curls are still in place, not as defined as day one but better than beachy waves.

Cristiane Tue 23-Apr-13 05:41:22

I tried I tried to get it to make my hair look good but it hasn't worked... Selling it on eBay now... I think may hair too naturally wavy and not smooth enough for it... Also it seemed to take ages

I have the babyliss ceramic rollers and find them much easier - put them in then walk around doing stuff till they are cool... And only. £30 not £170!

ChesterDrawers Tue 23-Apr-13 09:47:20

Has anyone who has usually has difficulty getting curls to last in their hair tried this? No matter what I do I cant get curls to last longer than 30 seconds in my fine, straight hair no matter what I try.

i really want one of these but don't want to blow £170 to find out this is yet another gadget that works for everyone else but not for me.

SherbetVodka Tue 23-Apr-13 10:10:04

Me too, Chester. I wish you could try it out somewhere before buying.

parasaurolophus Tue 23-Apr-13 22:02:12

I've just received mine in the post and I really love it.

I have naturally frizzy curly hair. Once in my early twenties I had a great hair cut when the hairdresser cut every curl individually. Besides that glorious 6-week-period, I have been using hot rollers, straighteners, curling tongs, etc since I was 13. The babyliss big hair has been great. I cannot leave my hair down in its natural state.

These are the best every. My hair is now in very nice, pretty, well-ordered curls. There is no frizz and it was quick and easy. My hair takes a curl well, it gets needs a bit of encouragement. I left it on a low setting and stopped after two beeps. I am thrilled.

WhiteBirdBlueSky Thu 16-May-13 10:40:03

If you buy it on QVC you have 30 days to return for any reason. Woo!

Sophie18 Mon 20-May-13 09:50:55

I have very long thick hair which normally does not curl at all or if I do manage to get curls they drop out almost instantly. Has anyone used it on this type of hair and had good results? It's a lot of money to spend on something I'm worried wont work like my hundreds of other curling products.

Susieq601 Wed 12-Jun-13 14:54:54

Hi I have really frizzy hair. My hairdresser tried the babliss curler on my hair after blow drying and it looks great. Have you tried it without straightening first, ie letting it dry frizzy and using curler only?
