Pale yellow AV tee

MarshaBrady Tue 09-Apr-13 20:33:37

<moves next door>

MarshaBrady Tue 09-Apr-13 20:34:03

Thanks Shop. Good discount on that t

They add stuff at about 9.30am on Mon/Tue/Thurs on outnet. I shouldn't be sharing this really!

shopafrolic Tue 09-Apr-13 20:43:47

Delete that post immediately Amber flowers

Annianni Tue 09-Apr-13 20:52:13

Ha ha... I knew that, thought it was common knowledge grin

Those Lanvin flats appeared yesterday Marsha but only small sizes unfortunately.

Hopefully Tue 09-Apr-13 20:57:19

I had an AV tank and it lasted like eight washes before utterly disintegrating. I have refused to try anything else from there on principle!

In other news, I walked through topshop today and really liked a lot of their stuff. I should probably be growing out of topshop by now... (but look! A skirt with a motel on! And one with stars! And a purple dress!)

shopafrolic Tue 09-Apr-13 21:03:55

Oh to have the body for that purple dress Hopefully

santamarianovella Tue 09-Apr-13 21:12:19

there are a few lanvin flats on yoox, the python one is at190 euros, but its an open toe.gorgeous nonetheless .

carrie74 Tue 09-Apr-13 21:13:54

Hopefully I LOVE those topshop skirts! Totally fab!

Shop nice Gigis. Wish they were bigger, even better price than he ones I just bought in the US (I'm a UK 6, and had to buy a US 9/9.5).

I am SO on a spending ban after the US shopping spree (and yet am v v tempted by some Gap sale items...Gap)

shopafrolic Tue 09-Apr-13 21:29:17

20 degrees next week ladies. Time to get your Spring on!!

MarshaBrady Tue 09-Apr-13 21:33:33

Thanks Santa will check them out.

noviceoftheday Tue 09-Apr-13 21:57:03

Hello ladies! Nutty couple of days at work. Left the office at 9.30pm. Have read end of last thread though not looked at links.

Thanks again to QueenC for the warehouse link and thank goodness you got your things back Carrie!

I wore my tanzanite ring to work yesterday. I had a meeting with someone over from the US who was wearing similar ring with matching necklace and earrings and a tennis bracelet! She made me look dull!grin I was also surprised she was travelling wearing that much bling shock

libertychick Tue 09-Apr-13 22:01:15

Vol 8 Woo hoo! And spring is finally coming - even better...

I didn't know the outnet tip - will start checking at those times smile and thanks

Great Topshop skirts Hopefully - will we see one on a blog post soon???

santamarianovella Tue 09-Apr-13 22:51:26

marshai hope your a36 or a 37grin otherwise I saw one at far fetch for£300+ . it's in python ,and the python ones rarely go on sale.
Apperantly I'm on a lanvin high,I'm very close to breaking my shopping ban!
I added this to my wish list,
I hope I can buy it for AW13.

MarshaBrady Wed 10-Apr-13 08:32:49

Good find Santa! on both accounts. Some good yoox ones but all too small, am a 40.

AndiMac Wed 10-Apr-13 10:02:00

Adding myself here before I go to read the previous ones I've missed.

See you in about 6 weeks Andi...

Hello from Spain everyone <waves>.

Having a lovely time here, weather is fantastic and house and pool lovely. Quite eventful so far, we managed to flood the house, dd fell in the pool and I had to jump in and fish her out (not done my blue cashmere jumper any favours but priorities and all that hmm). DS1 tripped up some stone steps and cut his lip open-all on day 1. This morning we awake to a text from our neighbour in London and someone has broken into our garden room, luckily not the house though. So we need to get the door/lock repaired somehow. None of this as traumatic as your handbag drama though Carrie, how horrific, but what a relief you got it back. I had a beautiful Tanner Krolle bag stolen years ago with loads of precious/important things in it and the memory is still horrible.

I am checking in regularly to keep up with you all, enjoying links when I can (data allowance permitting wink) hopefully the rest of our week will be quieter grin.

foxysocks Wed 10-Apr-13 10:21:38

oof what a start to the hols sleep. well done for prioritising DD over cashmere, not sure i'd have done the same wink

I am hungover to hell and browsing for trainers while i have a rare morning to myself. found some great ones which then went OOS over night dammit. that list was tres useful shop, thanks for writing it out for me.

one of my friends is applying for a job at NAP! am so bloody excited for her I may pop.

btw there are supergas in the asos sale for £27 and the rag and bone biker I bought has come back into stock on the outnet if anyone is interested... <enables>

carrie74 Wed 10-Apr-13 10:27:51

Ooh, Sleep, trust me that is WAY more traumatic. I feel a bit of a fraud actually. Although I was pissed off, I couldn't get too worked up - it was all just stuff and we're well insured. It would have been a PITA to replace, but not too traumatic (in fact my Anthony is pretty battered a bruised and maybe could have done with an update... wink).

Foxy can't see it - has it gone back OOS already? The power of Mumsnet!

On another forum [gasps], this was linked, and I think they look like fabulous corporate work clothes if anyone interested. Not a name I knew, but I've been out of City life for quite a while now. Probs too corporate for me at the moment, but you never know what the future holds: The Fold

carrie74 Wed 10-Apr-13 10:29:51

Ignore me, found it

Hopefully Wed 10-Apr-13 10:36:06

OMG sleep that's a heck of a start to the holiday.

Have just been doing returns for American Apparel order (I may have been slightly optimistic about the sizing). Love the colours available there! If anyone's had their colours done and looking for somewhere to get basics, I highly recommend.

foxysocks Wed 10-Apr-13 10:36:20

have PM you carrie - thought you were all bikered out?!

foxysocks Wed 10-Apr-13 10:38:10

hopefully I wear AA leggings for yoga and agree they are excellent. i have pairs that are five years old and still going strong although a bit faded. i wear and wash 5/6 sets of yoga clothes a week so they need to be built to last.

carrie74 Wed 10-Apr-13 10:54:17

Yes, bikered out (and on spending ban until I've cleared some space in my wardrobe...), but y'know, I like to look. grin

Hopefully I quite fancy one of their longer interlock tube skirts. Quite a good price, especially if they do last. Reckon would be a good crossover piece for work and play as well. [talks self into it]

Hopefully Wed 10-Apr-13 11:01:04

Carrie I ordered one but have sent it back as it was tight (and this is from me, the queen of tube skirts). I love them because I cycle everywhere and they are v easy to cycle in! I have gone for bright red as a bit of a spring pick-me-up.

LeFreakCestChic Wed 10-Apr-13 11:04:21

I know I'm very late to the snakeskin flat party but are the M&S ones good dupes for the JVs? Also, somewhere on MN7 it said they were quite large and to size down...? Have no will / time to go through all 1000 posts to check!

MarshaBrady Wed 10-Apr-13 11:09:12

Ha it's harder to find stuff in a back catalogue here than it is in Vogue. grin

I think so, but Liberty and Shop will know.

I'm also wondering if there are any codes for The White Company? I need more sheets!

And are you all getting American Apparel at sale prices?

MarshaBrady Wed 10-Apr-13 11:10:08

Oh Sleep what an eventful start to the holiday! Glad everyone is ok. And it sounds so lovely.

MarshaBrady Wed 10-Apr-13 11:12:26

Foxy go friend! Let us know if she gets it. grin

carrie74 Wed 10-Apr-13 11:16:02

Sale prices Marsha? Tell me more grin

The White Co drives me mad, codes all the time, except for when I actually decide to buy something. Begged in the shop once and they gave me 5% off - better than nothing.

Annianni Wed 10-Apr-13 11:20:11

Thanks Foxy, I would have ordered the grey Superga but 6 is oos sad

My AR order is here, the Petit Bateau pea coat is very nice, lovely feel to the fabric.
I'll try it properly later.

Not keen on the spirals though, they are such a pale colour, I'd trash them within a week and they feel very wide round my ankle.
But I have only tried them with my Hudson bootcuts rolled up.
I'll try them later with skinnys to see.

But... they don't look as nice as the horrigans did sad

My asos grey coats are out for delivery and I want to go to the zoo later.
So I hope it comes soon.

Lefreak, Shop and Liberty have both sized down in those shoes.

And I somehow lost 3/4's of a pound yesterday. So i'm up to 4lb loss in 6 days grin

Annianni Wed 10-Apr-13 11:21:56

Well done on the outnet bargains Amber envy

And good luck to Foxy's friend and Mr Shop.

carrie74 Wed 10-Apr-13 12:04:22

Anni Don't know if you'd looked at these, but are they an alternative to the Horrigans?

carrie74 Wed 10-Apr-13 13:43:35

Hah! Marsha, I've just been sent a White Co code: 15% off orders over £75 (10% orders under £75) plus free delivery: Q3A03

QueenCadbury Wed 10-Apr-13 13:49:03

hopefully you've just opened up a whole new shopping world for me with AA. It had never really been on my radar before despite there being one in Bristol.

sleep hope the rest of your holiday is more relaxing!

anni am envy of unique weight loss. Was hoping to lose all my Easter egg excess weight but I'm so premenstrual at the moment that I'm literally eating my body weight in chocolate.

QueenCadbury Wed 10-Apr-13 13:49:45

Eh, where did 'unique' come from. Bloody iPad.

MarshaBrady Wed 10-Apr-13 13:57:50

Same here Carrie I get bombarded with White Co emails then can never find one when I want something grin. But thanks I got that too! Not sure if it will be over £75. Any advance on 15% greatly appreciated. wink

I used to think that American A didn't go on sale, but maybe it does and I just missed it. The Little Fashion Gallery has an A A outlet but sizing might be hard to work out. It's fab for the dc, I only buy when in the sales as it's ££ for children's clothes.

MarshaBrady Wed 10-Apr-13 13:58:50

Anni Well done!

Corygal Wed 10-Apr-13 14:06:40

There's loads of AA on sale on Amazon. Lovely soft yellow tees for two quid, etc.

MarshaBrady Wed 10-Apr-13 14:30:24

Ah yes, thanks that might be easier.

MrsRadicchio Wed 10-Apr-13 14:31:49

Hey all, hope everyone is enjoying the better weather. It is good to be able to plan some different outfits, rather than the old coat and jumper look! I am keen to give my new veja trainers an outing. Annoyingly they are quite a bit cheaper now than what I paid, grrr.

They have also led me to think that I do need a pair of black coated skinnies to wear with them - any recommendations?

Sleep that sounds like a very traumatic day, your holiday can only get better now I hope!

I do like American Apparel too, have that tube skirt. Impressed you can cycle in it Hopefully or are you not talking about the maxi one?

Asos do AA, sometimes on sale too.

MrsRadicchio Wed 10-Apr-13 14:47:27

Oh shop I will link to ebay tweed jacket, once listed. I think it'll only be a whistles one I'll be selling in the end.

foxysocks Wed 10-Apr-13 14:59:28

Love those MrsR they are on my trainer short list!

MarshaBrady Wed 10-Apr-13 15:04:16

Love those MrsR!

MarshaBrady Wed 10-Apr-13 15:08:50

Think I want some too now. Eek

MarshaBrady Wed 10-Apr-13 15:30:32

A A here too.

shopafrolic Wed 10-Apr-13 16:38:22

carrie74 I mentioned the Fold last issue but no-one picked up on it. I really liked some of their stuff. If I was office based would definitely dabble.
sleep not a good start to your holiday! I hope things are improving and that the sun carries on shining.
LeFreak I half sized down but must have tried them when my feet were cold as they felt snug when i put them on this morning. Now I reckon I'll need to wear around the house with some shoe stretcher..... (I've already taken the tags off!). So for me as a size 40 in Ash Jalouse, Bowies etc, I should have got a 7.5 but actually got a 7....
Anni I'm v impressed with the continued weight loss! Well done!
AndiMac welcome or name change?
Love those MrsR - my coated skinnies are cheap as chips Oasis ones

In other news DH has a job interview on Tuesday which sounds v positive (mustn't jinx it!)

Good luck to your DH shop. DP has a telephone interview tomorrow and went to an interview yesterday. Fingers crossed one of them comes good.

shopafrolic Wed 10-Apr-13 16:45:10

Oh positive news OneLittleLady - holding your hand virtually! And crossing everything.

Thanks shop everything crossed for your DH too

Hopefully Wed 10-Apr-13 16:55:03

MrsR I was talking about the knee length one, but I have been contemplating the long one too. Would happily cycle in it - just as long as it is hoicked up to upper-calf level I can cycle in just about anything!

Shop and One fingers crossed re the interviews!

Ugh, just went all the way into town to go to the post office and peruse scarves in Zara and realised I had forgotten my wallet. Sigh.

carrie74 Wed 10-Apr-13 17:02:25

Oops, sorry shop. Thought it looked familiar when I opened it blush.

Fingers crossed for your and one's DHs interviews, hope some great opportunities present themselves.

Mrs R, fab trainers!

Argh Hopefully it bugs when that happens, hope it wasn't too far into town for you. Liked your roundup of scarves on the blog today.

shopafrolic Wed 10-Apr-13 17:03:42

Don't be daft carrie just glad someone likes the look of it too - I thought perhaps my style radar was off!

Hopefully Wed 10-Apr-13 17:17:38

Thanks Carrie! Not too far into town, but I left it so late to go that I couldn't come back, get my wallet and go again. Boo.

foxysocks Wed 10-Apr-13 17:45:07

another contender from shop's grazia list

foxysocks Wed 10-Apr-13 17:46:23

like the pink flash but more than I want to spend

shopafrolic Wed 10-Apr-13 17:50:11

Those Daley's are bargainous foxy!

LeFreakCestChic Wed 10-Apr-13 18:01:43

Thanks for sizing info shop. Think I'll go for my usual size. Would have gone for the JV ones but got stung with the collapse of Style Passport and couldn't return coral Blochs.

I looked at the Fold on the first link- looks v sophisticated workwear, maybe too much so for my work environment which should be more formal but Many of my colleagues are one headscarfed croc- ed foot away from resembling Russian cabbage pickers grin and I already feel I stand out. Not that I wear anything particularly special- just love clothes and refuse to go to work in crocs. Crocs!

shopafrolic Wed 10-Apr-13 18:10:36

Yup v corporate LeFreak
Fingers crossed for the snakeskin's. I love them - need to try them on again tonight. My feet swell and shrink a lot so hopefully they'll be okay. My left is bigger than my right and in-store the 7.5 right kept falling off when I walked in them. Am hoping they give just a little.

Hopefully Wed 10-Apr-13 19:17:58

Liking some of the Fold dresses, especially the leather panels one. Cannot quite envisage the work environment that would work in though!

Speaking of work, am meant to be catching up on emails this evening but have say down with a glass of wine and CAN'T MOVE.

Hopefully Wed 10-Apr-13 19:18:09

Annianni Wed 10-Apr-13 19:24:06

Thanks Carrie but i want grey boots.
Ideally, horrigans in a 6 & 1/2 but they don't exist sad

QueenC I've started well but my period's here so it could all go pear shaped and I'll end up in a teary heap with my face in Sainsburys pic n mix grin

Asos order's here...
Grey coat 1 is quite nice. Lovely soft fabric.
Grey coat 2 is too Wintery and not as nice
fabric wise.

Gap order's here too, both order's came within 24hrs of ordering.
Smaller size short trench fits perfectly on the body but snug on my arms.
Need to have a proper try tomorrow.

I do like the PB pea coat, it's lovely quality... but will I get much wear out of it at the moment? If the weather's improving.

I like all the trainers you've linked Foxy
Buy them all grin

Annianni Wed 10-Apr-13 21:47:45

Is anyone a size 5 shoe?

Marsha's whistles snake flats are in stock on AR again for £25

libertychick Wed 10-Apr-13 22:23:10

Shop I bookmarked Fold when you linked it but haven't had a chance to have a look yet. Fingers crossed for your DH and also for one's DH.

I really like the ASOS Daleys especially in green.

I haven't got the M&S snakeskins yet - 6 (my normal size) was too big and I have ordered both the 5 and 5.5 to try - they are sitting waiting for me in what I thought would be a convenient M&S but my work diary has been crazy this week and haven't managed to get in there yet...could be Monday now before I can collect them as the rest of the week is equally crazy.

Managed to swing by Regent St today - had to be focused so just went to & Other Stories and Cos. Was disappointed with Stories - nothing really appealed - a LOT of polyester. In Cos I bought this navy linen jumper which one of the worn out ladies blogged about and Grumpy bought - really like it - perfectly slouchy and in keeping with the Philo aesthetic I am trying to do - 'would Phoebe wear it?' is my current mantra grin Also bought this T-Shirt - very impressed with the fit and quality - hope it washes ok.

Also tried on this dress and I am very tempted...looks amazing on, very flattering but a difficult length (mid calf) and this is my best 'time of month' when I am not bloated or paranoid so wondering if it's something I wouldn't dare put on any other time. Hopefully what do you wear on your feet with your tube skirts as I need some inspiration in terms of potential styling?

Ran into Zara in another part of town and bought this t-shirt the logo is the story of my life!

It sounds like I spent the day shopping grin - actually I managed 4 work meetings in 3 different locations and spent about 40 mins tops in the shops!

libertychick Wed 10-Apr-13 22:29:03

Ohhh very tempting Anni

Marsha what is the sizing like on the Whistles snakeskin flats? I am usually a 6...

LeFreakCestChic Wed 10-Apr-13 22:29:44

Popped in to say I've bought the M&S flats (sheeplike me)- hope they're true to size on me- CBA with exchanging.

Was momentarily distracted by the Yoni thread though grin

libertychick Wed 10-Apr-13 22:31:04

And noticed in London today that practically every woman under 25 is wearing retro Nike trainers.

MarshaBrady Wed 10-Apr-13 22:33:49

Liberty not small for size. I'm a 7, but can be a 40.5, and got a 7. So felt pleased they weren't too small. Not sure if could do a whole size down.

But would be great if someone got them so am willing them to fit!

libertychick Wed 10-Apr-13 22:44:41

Thanks Marsha - probably won't risk it - I have returned an embarrassing amount of stuff to Atterley road - feel certain they must be on the verge of blacklisting me!

LeFreak the Yoni thread has made my night! Fingers crossed the shoes come up ok for you.

The Yoni thread is something else grin I'm on the hunt for brightly coloured shirt dresses. I have one in red but would quite like some more, perhaps in blue and green. Anyone seen anything like that?

That Cos dress is right up my street - would wear with NBs/Superga/Slipper flats. Am doing a blogging event in Carnaby St next weekend, will swing by Cos!

libertychick Wed 10-Apr-13 22:59:14

Amber I did think NBs and maybe a cropped denim jacket or else slipper flats and a blazer for really is lovely and it would suit you I think. Lovely soft cotton as well - very comfy. I may have to order it....

Hopefully Wed 10-Apr-13 23:02:02

Liberty I wear my tube skirts with everything - my faux Marant Dicker-alike suede ankle boots, nude LKB heels (nude heels always seem easier than coloured with my tube skirts, for some reason), great big doc marten triumph 1914s for casual. Tube skirts work well for me - I look so incredibly frumpy in a classic pencil skirt - so I wear them a lot.

libertychick Wed 10-Apr-13 23:05:45

I have just ordered it - so easily influenced! And that's me spent out for April grin

libertychick Wed 10-Apr-13 23:11:49

Ahhh good ideas there Hopefully it would probably work with my biker boots...just realising that half the problem is I think the look could be a bit young for me and I feel self conscious about that even when something suits me...and both you and Amber are about 10 years younger than me...ahhh what have I done????

liberty I am wearing a tube skirt for work today so it will be on the blog - some inspo maybe?

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 08:23:39

Liberty, that Cos dress is lovely and I'd wear it if I wasn't fat and I'm 40.

shopafrolic Thu 11-Apr-13 08:32:32

Morning all - flying visit - GAP sale now on

shopafrolic Thu 11-Apr-13 08:36:51

Shrunken blazer and neon parka both discounted for those that were interested.

Windowbasket Thu 11-Apr-13 08:43:16

Hello! I've just had a peek at the cos dress and love it. £6 delivery though!!

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 08:49:03

Beware anyone ordering from Gap.

On the mobile site, the neon parka etc are about £5 more than on the normal site.

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 08:50:13

I wore my neon parka to the zoo yesterday and it's fab for £35

foxysocks Thu 11-Apr-13 09:19:52

i love that cos dress and jumper. gorgeous. have a similar knit jumper dress from hush. maybe one to watch in the sales for me.

am ordering trainers and yellow tee today I think. white jeans should be here soon too, now if only the rain would stop might be able to wear them this weekend!

what's everyone wearing today?

shopafrolic Thu 11-Apr-13 09:23:23

I did look stylish earlier Foxy but then DS had a poo explosion to end all poo explosions so I'm now in jogging bottoms and a hoodie! Raining here. I am willing the Spring to arrive by the weekend.
Wedding anniversary today so will dress up tonight for dinner instead.

I'm wearing a burgundy Toppers tube skirt, cobalt Iris & Ink silk tee and JV snake print flats. I'm blinding it up with a very gold LKB Annina bag too.

blinging, sigh.

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 09:54:58

Marsha Lanvin flats in a 40 on the outnet, but they're cotton with a heart print pattern.

foxysocks Thu 11-Apr-13 09:55:49

nice outfit amber will check your blog later for the pic. and good shopping wink

shop oh such is life with DCs, hey? I am also slobbing a bit now in AA grey leggings and old H&M black vest about to do a quick yoga practice (once have finished second cup of coffee and ordered some trainers!).

was a little more glam on school run but not by much - oversized grey silk/linen mix dress, black opaques, black biker boots, olive barbour. topped with a pink neon bobble hat grin

MarshaBrady Thu 11-Apr-13 10:06:42

Thanks Anni I think I'm going to wait for the exact colour and ones I'd like, unless plain turquoise blue or something comes up. I have second meeting with another person (well time tbc so in theory) for the project, the one where I met for coffee, so am hopeful that I will be able to get them soon!

My outfit has gone backwards in this weather, not good, back to pistols, MiH and I&I. Need that sunshine back.

MarshaBrady Thu 11-Apr-13 10:10:30

Great outfits Foxy and Amber, love the sound of the neon pink bobble hat.

Shop happy anniversary, what will you wear?

shopafrolic Thu 11-Apr-13 10:20:33

Thanks Marsha - due to lack of funds we won't be going out for dinner so friends of ours are throwing us a dinner party and we're taking the fizz. So probably skinny jeans, nude LKB Florettes, silk blouse. Not sure yet, must give it some more thought. smile

MarshaBrady Thu 11-Apr-13 10:22:38

That sounds nicer anyway. Love the outfit.

foxysocks Thu 11-Apr-13 10:24:33

that sounds nice shop. are the links on your pinterest?

marsha the hat is a few years old from the matches sale. bought it after DS was born when I felt grim and was still all flabby so no clothes buying.

have ordered these three pairs on my Considering board to choose from

shopafrolic Thu 11-Apr-13 10:31:13

Yup Foxy - unfortunately on Autumn Winter board not Spring Summer!

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 11:05:45

I'm wearing gap distressed boyfriend jeans, white h&m vest and a Gap navy sweater.

We're having a lazy day today.
I'm looking forward to next week, when I'll get my house back.
I've had enough of ds1 charging round being noisy and dsd tapping away on her laptop.
I can't wait for some peace and quiet.

I need to have a proper try on later, and decide what i'm keeping.
The neon pink breton is due today.
So i'll wait for that first.

I didn't think you'd want those Lanvin flats Marsha, I think there's an age limit on having heart print shoes grin

Happy anniversary Shop

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 11:07:12

Lovely trainers Foxy.

I've just got Grazia, so i'll look at the list.

carrie74 Thu 11-Apr-13 12:38:12

I like that Cos dress too Liberty. I'd wear with my Hudson ankle boots (which go with EVERYTHING).

Today am wearing blue Me&Em dress, black opaques and the ubiquitous Hudson boots. Topped with a grey Cozy (I have worn my 2 cozies every day this week to work, a different style each time grin), belted with a neon blue skinny belt.

Happy Anniversary shop, your evening sounds lovely (as does the outfit). smile

Amber I LOVE that Annina bag, have been tempted. How has yours held up (I'm a Mulberry girl, and have always been pleased with the quality and how long they last - I make my bags WORK!)?

I've had it 2 years now and so far so good, but as a disclaimer I have many bags so none of them really have to work too hard. Of all of them my Rocco is looking the tattiest and I've only had him for 4 months!!

I want this

YoniOno Thu 11-Apr-13 13:09:23

I'm a lurker but had to come on to say please don't pay £175 for a polyester vest Amber! shock tis a lovely print, but that's just bonkers.

I love the top Amber..... How would you wear it? Agree that it's a bit pricey for polyester but would go with so much

carrie74 Thu 11-Apr-13 13:15:45

Thanks Amber, I'll keep musing. I really don't need any more bags. [but I may call the local outlet to see if they come in very often]

I think I'd be wanting silk for £175, agree with Yoni.

And what was the Yoni thread last night? Totally missed it (was having an iPad free evening for a change (it needed charging blush)

shopafrolic Thu 11-Apr-13 13:18:01

carrie please don't ask that question on this thread grin. The thread is still active if you want to take a look / visit Hull anytime soon!

shopafrolic Thu 11-Apr-13 13:18:16

Just don't google the word

shopafrolic Thu 11-Apr-13 13:18:43

Amber lovely print, but should be silk for the price.

LeFreakCestChic Thu 11-Apr-13 13:20:53

carrie, which hudsons do you have? I'm struggling to style them with anything apart from skinnies.
PS. Please do look at the yoni thread, it's amazeballs grin

carrie74 Thu 11-Apr-13 13:36:43

I'm totally intrigued now lol! Is it just Yoni? Might save it for the evening...[my extended family is all from Hull. I'm starting to feel afraid]

LeFreak I have these: Hudsons. They really do go with everything, smart enough for (my) work, goes with dresses and trousers, skinnies, the lot!

LeFreakCestChic Thu 11-Apr-13 14:14:43

Ah, I have the beige suede horrigans, lovely but maybe less versatile.

'just yoni'? What else are you looking for?! wink

carrie74 Thu 11-Apr-13 14:21:55

Waaahhh! Sorry, I meant is that what I should search for. Lol!

I LOVE Horrigan's. Might stretch next autumn.

Decameron Thu 11-Apr-13 14:22:20

Lol at just yoni!

That COS dress looks great, Liberty.

Happy anniversary, Shop. Enjoy tonight.

I have a plain grey top and navy cargos on today (both Boden but no patterns!), navy Ash bowies and red DVF wool coat when out.

Oh don't be mental, I'm not actually going to buy it at that price. At 80% off in the sale I might wink

And drywhite I'm imagining it tucked into a hot pink pencil skirt (which I do not own) or with white skinnies (which I also do not own).

Am inches away from ordering a pair of white cowboy boots. Shall I...?

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 14:42:59

Lovely top Amber.

White cowboy boots!?
Erm... link please grin

I've been very good and sent lots of parcels back.
The Petit Bateau pea coat is lovely and if the fabric was thinner I would have kept it. But it's quite a heavy wool and i'd need to alter the sleeves, so it's gone sad

I tried the jalouse with skinnys and they don't work on me. I also broke a nail putting them on. And when i'd re-packed them, I realised my nail was bleeding.
I had a heart stopping moment checking the pale suede boots for blood, but luckily they were fine.

I've kept the short Gap trench. If anyone wants to try it, size down as i've kept the medium and it's been a while since I was one of those.

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 14:50:29

I've also returned the asos grey coats and the navy Gap blazer.

I'd like to try the Maxmara one Decam linked a while back.
And i'd rather pay a bit more for something nicer.

Oh, and the neon breton is here and it's lovely... but a bit snug on my vast stomach.
So i'll try it next week, when i've hopefully lost the rest of that half a stone and see how it is.

It looks fab with the Gap short trench.

I want to try those Mirar Hudson's on my grey boot quest, but they look a bit pale in photos.
Has anyone seen the grey irl?

shopafrolic Thu 11-Apr-13 14:54:24

Scary with the boots Anni when I first bought mine I felt very odd wearing them, thought they didn't work, now I live in them, my Hudsons and Ash Spirals too ( which are easier to get on as they have zips).
Carrie hurry up and find the thread. If you've got family in Hull I can't wait to hear your opinions! grin
I'm wearing the M&S slippers, with two socks on my left foot, one sock on my right to stretch them a bit. Seems to be working but I look bloody ridiculous!

foxysocks Thu 11-Apr-13 14:55:09

good returning anni. i will have to do some as well this weekend as only one pair of white jeans and one pair of trainers is allowed to stay. I'm hoping they all get here tomorrow so I can try on and choose!

i didn't order the neon breton in the end, have decided my yellow tee need is more pressing.

shopafrolic Thu 11-Apr-13 15:08:15

I hate the COS website. I'm browsing in anticipation of good things. Love this but I'm guessing it'll be super short on me if I'm 5ft 9? Why can't they it their clothes on models?
too short orange dress
Also like
fab grey dress
love the colour

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 15:10:18

Shop i've seen something online recently about stretching shoes by wearing socks and putting the hairdryer on them too.
If you wiggle your toes, the heat will soften the leather and they'll loosen up.

The neon breton is lovely Foxy, it was back in stock on AR last night too.

I ordered a slouchy navy stripe breton to try. The £20 off code is still working (share2013)

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 15:17:06

Those dresses are lovely Shop but they're all around 3ft in length, which doesn't seem long to me. I think there'd be knees on show.

shopafrolic Thu 11-Apr-13 15:17:39

Good tip Anni will give it a shot

shopafrolic Thu 11-Apr-13 15:18:14

Knees are fine, thighs aren't - need to get my tape measure out.

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 15:21:13

I'd like a nice dress for Summer but it'd have to be past my knee.

Isn't Amber going to Cos over the weekend?
Ask her to investigate.

Here, look better than they sound!

Hopefully Thu 11-Apr-13 16:19:26

ermmm, if anyone can make them work, you can Amber. <diplomatic> grin

I have just had a fabulous session with a photographer getting a load of head shots and studio shots done for work, was really nice. Have also discovered lots of new clothing combinations while trying to work out new tops to put on for head shots!

The sun is actually out here today, which is lovely, and making me want to crack out the coral/orange/yellow end of my wardrobe, which rarely sees the light of day.

LeFreakCestChic Thu 11-Apr-13 17:08:15

shop shoe stretcher works- its a spray, got it from clarks. I used it on Hudson brogues that were pinching at the toes.
anni neon Breton lovely- we are a pair! Would like to use the code but thought it was only for new customers?
carrie yoni seems to have disappeared sad but not before I shared the link with friends in FB grin. Haven't laughed so much in ages!

foxysocks Thu 11-Apr-13 17:15:16

yoni is on classics. brilliant!

has anyone ordered direct from j crew? am v tempted to get all my april shopping done so i don't have to think about it anymore.

You're just jealous because you can't wear white Hopefully...

shopafrolic Thu 11-Apr-13 17:25:52

Yeeeeeee haaaaa!

foxysocks Thu 11-Apr-13 17:27:46

i like them Amber. how will you style them? I wouldn't get enough wear to justify them but that's not to say you wouldn't....

carrie74 Thu 11-Apr-13 18:15:16

Just caught up on the Yoni thread. grin

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 18:17:03

Grazia readers, what boots is SJP wearing on page 133?

I love them...

DP got one of the jobs! He starts on Monday. It's almost better news than the arrival of my newly born niece!

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 18:32:26

Fantastic news onelittlelady

I'd not registered for an account lefreak.
Have you got a different email account?
That might work.

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 18:33:56

I think they're an acquired taste Amber

Bargainous though. Have you ordered them?

shopafrolic Thu 11-Apr-13 18:43:32

Huge congrats to your DP OneLittleLady that's fabulous news!

Thanks ladies thanks so pleased, we were really struggling and this has come just at the right time, before we really got pulled down into major debt and stuff.

Grey marl tee & indigo skinnies or new pale blue Wang and grey skinnies foxy. Definitely not with chaps. Haven't ordered yet but I am mad tempted.

foxysocks Thu 11-Apr-13 20:13:35

sounds brill amber. get them ordered, you can always return.

am this >< close to ordering a faaaab neon yellow tee.

QueenCadbury Thu 11-Apr-13 20:27:34

Brilliant onelittlelady.

amber as I said on the other thread if people haven't put you off then you must get them.

Just found out another Mnetter is getting her colours done with me next week. And she lives in Bristol. Perfect for lift sharing and talking clothes all the way.

Where is this sun you were all promising? We had thunderous hailstorms this afternoon.

foxysocks Thu 11-Apr-13 20:44:03

oh onelittlelady that is SUCH great news! v pleased for you

wasn't the hail so weird queenc?! it came out of nowhere. luckily we were all at home by then, although did get drenched on school pick up. i was banking on good weather i want to wear white jeans this w'end.

QueenCadbury Thu 11-Apr-13 21:29:44

Anyone watching the intern on channel4? It's certainly doing great for my as you can't get on the site!

MrsRadicchio Thu 11-Apr-13 22:12:49

Foxy, not sure where you're at with the yellow t-shirt search but did you see this gap one?

Annianni Thu 11-Apr-13 22:19:20

Not me Queenc, I'm in bed.

Has anyone bought a bag from Jigsaw?
I've pinned a couple that I quite like, but I've not been in a Jigsaw shop for years.

I did quite like some of the zatchels saddle bags, but I think I want something softer and I don't want to spend £££ as there's other things I need too.

libertychick Thu 11-Apr-13 22:59:22

Welcome windowbasket £6 delivery annoyed me especially as I had the dress in my hands only hours beforehand – but I won’t be near a Cos store again for weeks and at least I know it fits.
Happy anniversary Shop – Hope you are having a lovely night.
Great news onelittlelady on both the job and the new niece
Love the outfit today Amber, tube skirt looks great with the flats - your SL ring is really fabulous too.

Today I wore black Gerard Darel wrap effect dress with grey/black leopard print tights and black suede ballet flats, silver and black jewelery. Also decided to abandon the 333 project idea! It meant putting away too many things I love and what’s the point of that? Will adopt Drywhites suggestion of trying to wear a different outfit every day for a month instead. And going to try playing with hair, nails and makeup – I bought a red lipstick last weekend and it makes me look much brighter. This weekend I am going to buy some different eyeshadows – I only ever use brown! Like the idea of dark blue.

Anni I like the look of the Jigsaw bags too – have not bought anything from there in years though.

shopafrolic Fri 12-Apr-13 08:07:15

Morning all! Seriously hungover this morning - a lovely night, we were thoroughly spoilt - homemade chicken liver pate, monkfish in Vermouth, lemon syllabubs, champagne - just lovely.
The weather was asbsolutely vile in the end so I wore indigo J Brand Sashas, Reiss Mitts jumper with the chunky Reiss gold chain necklace and nude Florettes.
Liberty red lipstick seems to really work for me too at the moment - definitely lifts the complexion. What colour are your eyes? Mine are brown and turquoise / peacock blue liner works well too (obvs not with red lipstick tho!).
How is the sizing in COS? I've seen three dresses that I like the look of but have never bought from there before....
Amber joking from yesterday aside - I really like the cowboy boots. I own three beaten up pairs myself - never had pristine white though.
Foxy have you got a link to the neon tee?
Anni how's the hula hoop? smile

carrie74 Fri 12-Apr-13 09:27:04

Fab news one! Hope we hear similar v v soon from mr shop.

shop, evening sounds fab, great outfit.

Amber, they wouldn't be for me (like my bags, I wear my clothes to death, so shoes in particular need to be hard wearing. Bargain, though).

liberty, I also like the idea of the new outfit challenge. May ponder some more on that.

foxysocks Fri 12-Apr-13 09:32:50

oh that sounds perfect shop - what lovely friends. I don't know about sizing in cos but have heard it's all over the place. annoying! will have to make special trip next time I'm in london to try some stuff on i think.

I would definitely like cowboy boots later this year, have never owned any, but i think i'll go more classic as it will be just one pair to go with everything!

MrsR i hadn't seen that but am a bit over gap atm, the quality seems shocking. am definitely enjoying spending a bit more per item for something i love and will cherish.

shop will link to tee once it's ordered as they are low in stock <paranoid>!

Belsize77 Fri 12-Apr-13 09:42:21

Delurking to ask a random question ladies. I have been sent a voucher for 70 pounds at Matches by my credit card company. It runs out in a week or so. No minimum spend - its more a gift voucher code than a money off one. Problem is I am 27 weks pregnant and can't really see anything I fancy. I considered gigi's and Superga's - but that's only really because I am casting around. In the worst case scenario I suppose I could buy something and ebay it to fund something I really want elsewhere. What would you buy?

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 10:23:52

I've found the grey boots sjp is wearing in Grazia boots they looked different front on, in the photo.
They would look vaguely orthopedic on me... so that's a no...

I did find these for Amber they don't look a million miles away from the yee haw boots.
So I say get them ordered Amber grin

Glad you had a good night Shop.
I've not hooped for a couple of days, because i kicked a bedside table earlier in the week and have bruised my little toe. It's swollen and very sore. I've struggled getting shoes on since.
And i've been scared of the hoop landing on it.

However... ds1 is a natural and can keep it up for ages, even though it's a weighted one. And dsd can do it by the merest flick of her hips.
Whereas I have to put slightly more effort in.

I've ordered
Jigsaw bag 1
and Jigsaw bag 2 to see what they're like.
If I keep one, or both, then that's me done for this month.
And i'll resume the grey boot search next month and also look for new skinny jeans. But i'd also like a new watch... i'd better get ebaying again then grin

Any news on your 2nd meeting Marsha?

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 10:26:14

I've found things in Gap a bit hit and miss lately Foxy
The neon parka and short trench are nicely made, but the shrunken blazer wasn't.

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 10:27:31

Belsize, what about jewellery?
I'll have a look on matches now. Can you put anything towards the voucher?

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 10:33:12

Sunglasses as recommended by Amber?

carrie74 Fri 12-Apr-13 10:38:11

Lovely bags Anni, I'd struggle to choose between them.

Good call on sunglasses, or jewellery, or a beautiful scarf?

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 10:38:51

I'd probably get a pair of Havaianas and some Superga

Or the blue gigi's which I ordered recently and are fab irl.
or the pink

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 10:39:58

There's not many scarves for that price Carrie, i've just looked.
Unless there's anything in the sale section?

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 10:43:41
Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 10:44:29
Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 10:46:47

Dvf sunglasses

Sorry, have to go nowsmile

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 10:47:34
Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 10:52:27

Dvf sunglasses

Sorry but i've got to go now smile

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 10:52:59

Sorry about the double posts grin

I'd get the sunnies or maybe another Helmut tee. Or half a pair of Charles Philip flats, or half a Balenciaga wrap bracelet....

shopafrolic Fri 12-Apr-13 11:03:12

Welcome Belsize - stick around - it's fun here! I'd get sunnies (then no issues re: sizing later!) My feet changed sizes too......
Great suggestions Anni - ouch for the toe! Let me know if Hula Hooping works. I tried it when I was in my twenties - but got bored v quickly (story of my life)

foxysocks Fri 12-Apr-13 11:14:00

hi belsize. I'd get a tee tbh, which prob doesn't help you much. I love havianas and they are super comfortable, those plus superga would be a very sensible move i think. I do like gigis but wouldn't pay the matches prices for them.

anni i like that slouch cross body bag, if it was sub £50 i'd be tempted too.

foxysocks Fri 12-Apr-13 11:44:11

have ordered this. £24 all in from J Crew, and they now do free returns from the UK if there are any problems. have been emailing then over the last few days with my many qus and the CS could not have been better. BIG thumbs up.

so that means with yellow tee + white jeans + NB trainers = me out of the shopping game for April! VERY happy with the purchases though, presuming it all fits ok grin

shopafrolic Fri 12-Apr-13 13:15:54

Woo hoo! Good shopping foxy

pickledsiblings Fri 12-Apr-13 13:17:06

thanks for the tip off about J Crew doing free returns foxy, I'm off for a peruse - love the colour of that t btw

Amber. step away from the white boots, they are saying WAG to me.

QC, great that you've found a travelling buddy, hope the colour session goes well.

Have you found anything yet Belsize?

QueenCadbury Fri 12-Apr-13 13:18:23

belsize I can't find a huge amount on there that I'd buy for that price but yes, you may as well use it and resell on. Do supergra go for a good price on eBay?

pickledsiblings Fri 12-Apr-13 13:23:41

Belsize, how about this Kenzo t? It says coming soon but I'm sure you could call and ask about being able to use the vouchers for it.

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 13:25:39

Nice tee Foxy

I need help...
The Whistles leni jacket that I have in grey (and love) is now available in navy. And a navy jacket is on my list.
But I can't afford to pay full price this month (i don't want to link it on here either) grin

Does any other magazine do discount for there?
I can't imagine Grazia doing another this soon.

Any suggestions?
I need it...

I know I could send the Jigsaw bags straight back if I don't like them.
But if they're nice, then i'm stuck.

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 13:26:57

Just had a thought Belsize, could you buy a gift voucher with it, to give yourself more time?

Decameron Fri 12-Apr-13 13:41:59

Onelittlelady, great news on your DH's job.

Belsize, I'd get the Gigis, I bought a pair recently . Now just need some sun so I can wear them. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Anni, I am definitely getting that Whistles navy jacket, love it in black, thanks for the heads up!

I like cowboy boots. Amber, not sure about the white personally but you can make it work.

Liberty, a different outfit every day sounds like a better plan to me.

foxysocks Fri 12-Apr-13 13:47:39

well I spoke to soon. jeans arrived and aren't even white! so they are going back, have sent an email to let them know am cancelling whole order as per distance selling regs so I should get outbound postage (£8!!!) back too.

so, slightly cropped white jeans. anyone seen any? rofl.

anni I would wait until the bags arrive and then decide whether you want the jacket or bag more.

QueenCadbury Fri 12-Apr-13 14:00:46

foxy what colour were they???

anni if you but the jacket on your credit card can you not then pay it off next month?

pickledsiblings Fri 12-Apr-13 14:03:15

foxy, you can't beat TS white Jamies, if they're good enough for Emmanuelle Alt and all that.

Decameron Fri 12-Apr-13 14:15:44

Foxy, MiH?

Anni, maybe Atterley Rd will get it in stock? I have ordered. Couldn't wait and have not spent a penny in April (mostly because I was away for a week of it!).

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 14:16:13

I don't have any credit cards QueenC, I got rid of mine a few years ago.

I'm going to list loads on ebay.
If I asked dh, he'd pay for it. But I still find it hard asking him for money... especially because we're in the middle of doing the house, which is ££££.
And I don't want to touch the savings.

Very occasionally I actually miss being at work and having more money grin

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 14:17:18

Thanks Decam, i'd already checked AR.

foxysocks Fri 12-Apr-13 14:19:50

they were a yellowy parchment colour queenc. totally not what i wanted, nor how they looked on the website! will post em back today.

yes have seen the MiH on donna ida decam, they look great but too much £££ FP pour moi

are they the ones EA wears, pickled? i did not know that. I love her look in this pin

pickledsiblings Fri 12-Apr-13 14:31:06

She has definitely said she wears Topshop jeans foxy, possibly Baxters though rather than Jamies. Jamies are a similar fit to J Brands, so not low rise. I think the Baxters are more low rise if that's what you are after. Someone like Amber will probably be better informed about these things than I am...

That is a great look though...I'm sure you could emulate it once you find the right white jeans...

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 14:33:02

My size has sold out already <sob>
John Lewis don't have it in stock.

I might have to go to an actual shop to get one sad

Hopefully Fri 12-Apr-13 14:34:36

Oooh, I really like this ring. I only have one other ring apart from engagement/wedding rings, a pucci one which is a bit big for work really (but I wear it anyway because I love it so).

Hopefully Fri 12-Apr-13 14:37:26

I have Baxters, they are v low rise and give me an annoying muffin top. I do really like them when I am less blobby than i currently am though.

MarshaBrady Fri 12-Apr-13 14:47:22

Foxy they are a mid colour, I wasn't that sold on it either. The MiH are really off-white (vanilla, no where near white) or white Wel ll I think haven't tried the latter. Actually I was totally distracted with those Goldsigns, what with having paid three times, so £450 and the liquidation thing £600 for one pair then, it was like shopping hell hmm.

Ok need to read propos.

MarshaBrady Fri 12-Apr-13 14:48:31

Anni not yet! Need a date, really wish I could find out if there is a pa as the hardest thing is getting that in the diary as they are all so busy. No rec cons to do the badgering for me.

MrsRadicchio Fri 12-Apr-13 14:51:23

Apologies for not being with it but was it the goldsign jeans? That's a good idea, inciting distance selling regs. I have lost £££ in postage over the years.

Meant to saw I've found j crew good.

Liberty, really old news but I love that dress too. Think it is pretty classic and not too "young".

Amber, not so sure on the boots though I do like the marant ones anni linked to.

Shop, sounds like a great night, what lovely friends you have.

Congratulations to your dh, onelittlelady, that must be a relief. Good luck to mr shop too.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 12-Apr-13 14:53:08

Although I am having a white jeans moment pickled and EA can do no wrong, I look at those Jamies and just think 'Camel Toe'...

MrsRadicchio Fri 12-Apr-13 14:57:59

Oh I meant to say I'm keen on a McQueen skull ring too hopefully. Love that pucci ring too, where did you get it? Is it antique?

I wear Jamie's and really rate them. EA wears Baxters which I don't get on with because they are so low rise.

libertychick Fri 12-Apr-13 15:14:28

Shop great tip on eyeliner. Cos sizing is all over the place. On top I am a 10/12 - (usually a 10 in jackets, small in Gap, bra size 32D or 34c depending on style) and I'm 12/14 on the bottom (30 in 7FAM, 10/12 in Gap). On the Cos jersey dress the medium was the best fit but it's a fitted style so if I was buying a looser or more A-line dress I would probably order a small. I went for the medium in the linen jumper - small was ok but I wanted a more slouchy fit and I bought the t-shirt in a small - once again though it came down to fit and I prefer that style of t-shirt to be more fitted. HTH

How annoying with the jeans Foxy.

Belsize I thought sunnies or jewellery too or if you can add a bit to it how about Lily and Lionel scarf?

Anni I would love the Whistles jacket in navy but sadly I am spent out for this month too - there will be other lovely ones is what I tell myself when this happens!

MarshaBrady Fri 12-Apr-13 15:14:37

Well done to your dh OneLittle and sending good vibes to your dh Shop. Your friends sound really lovely.

Anni I have that Acne scarf, it's bright. I should wear it more now. Too much with green coat. Didn't realise it was in the sale, maybe they've added more stuff.

Hopefully Fri 12-Apr-13 15:26:26

MrsR Pucci ring was from NAP last year. I really like it, it feels very 'me'. It was insanely expensive (for a glass ring), but was last one left in last size, so I didn't dare wait for the sales! Am quite tempted by the McQueen one, but wondering if it's a bit pretty for me (am guessing not, what with the skull and all, but I don't normally do anything remotely girly!)

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 15:35:05

Thanks Liberty
I've emailed whistles customer services and asked.
I could always try the smaller size because there's a bit of room in my grey one.

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 15:37:18

Lovely rings Hopefully

foxysocks Fri 12-Apr-13 20:23:58

bwahahaha I am back IN the game.

none of the trainers fit! apart from these which i do like but not sure I almost £50 like.

I am not having a good shopping day but at least I have more money in the bank.

foxysocks Fri 12-Apr-13 20:24:13
GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 12-Apr-13 21:30:42

I didn't know I was looking for love until I found you

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 21:39:29

Oh no Foxy... so which trainers are next on your list?
I did like the navy NB's that were on the Grazia list.

I emailed Whistles customer services this afternoon about the navy lena jacket, and they replied within an hour, saying that they'd sent a batch of jackets out to stores and that's why they had gone out of stock.
So they have put one on hold for me and will post it from the store, to me grin

Which is fab... but i'd ordered the smaller size in the meantime online.
But at least I can compare the sizes grin

My bowies and beas sold on ebay this evening, for more than I paid for them, so i'm very happy!

Annianni Fri 12-Apr-13 21:41:51

Ooh pretty Grumpy

I must look at Cos bags later... grin

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 12-Apr-13 21:55:20

So pretty. But every time I go on Cos' website I'm so distracted by the awful photography I wonder how they manage to sell anything! I've loved everything I've ever had from there, but it always looks sooo much better in RL

noviceoftheday Fri 12-Apr-13 22:00:47

Hi everyone! <waves> it's been a grim old busy week at work including a European day trip. Haven't been to bed before midnight on any night. Great links. No shopping from me although i finally opened my John lewis bag delivered on Tuesday. Mostly stuff for the dcs but I slipped in this warehouse metallic cardigan which doesn't look anything special but will go well with tan chinos or jodhpurs. Also these Dune sandals which are lovely but not sure they are practical. And this sun hat.

i am picking up my Marks & Spencers order tomorrow hmm. If they want to know why they are doing badly.... I spent about £200 in both stores online last Sunday. JL arrived first thing Tuesday morning free delivery. M&s involves going to pick it up at the store 6 days later and only after 12pm else there's a delivery charge. Really M&S? hmm

Anyway rant over. Lovely to hear the news about one and shop's dh'

noviceoftheday Fri 12-Apr-13 22:01:52

Very nice Grumpy.

libertychick Fri 12-Apr-13 22:18:02

Great bag Grumpy I can never spot the good stuff on line in Cos either - have to see it IRL.

Novice my M&S orders to collect in store are always within a day or two and have never been charged...they are doing badly because they have not properly identified their customer - just too much stuff and their better items only seem to be available at a handful of stores.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 12-Apr-13 22:21:44

So good to see the summery purchases novice, esp skimpy sandals. I know what you mean about M&S - ordered DH some navy suede loafers last Sun and expecting them tomorrow. Great value though - I've seen them in store and they are so similar to his brown R&B suede loafers, but over £100 cheaper! I'll forgive them this time.
Despite moaning about Cos' photos I've just bought a nice indigo top in the sale section, which I would link to if their website would open to me. Maybe they've read my comments and blocked me...
After looking at the white jeans links earlier was tempted to try some Baxters, now ordered in a shorter length for an ankle-skimming thing. I love how comfy high-waisters are, but I feel wrong in them. I think it's because I'm short (and I just think of MIL, lovely though she is, with her jeans somewhere up under her ribcage). grin

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 12-Apr-13 22:24:30
libertychick Fri 12-Apr-13 22:33:25

Oh well done Grumpy - very nice it is too!

Aw, I love belly hugging jeans.

Just back from a lovely night out at karaoke box with DH for his birthday. No voice left at all. Wore very short, tight American Apparel dress at his request with pistols, leopard ASOS cost and green Gracie.

pickled I'm going to kill you - wishlisted the Kenzo tee this morning before I went out, intending to order when I got home. You link in the meantime and it sells out in all sizes!! Grr... ;)

LeFreakCestChic Fri 12-Apr-13 23:03:10

grumpy, I think you bought the cobalt Maison Scotch cords? What are you wearing with them? <shite weather has drained all my inspiration>

Am totally pissed off with today's purchases- M&S snakeskin flats are too big ( i know, i know, some of you did say that, but shop was having to stretch hers, so...) so have to dick about with ordering the half and full size smaller online and take my proper size back to shop. Bought nails inc porter field square , 'hero' shade appaz, and had surprise hour to myself to paint my nails when DC3 went to bed early- revolting colour, total waste of money and time. Bah.

Dare I say it, but only Brianswife AIBU thread in response to yoni has cheered me up..

Belsize77 Sat 13-Apr-13 00:30:57

Thanks so much everyone for your suggestions. I have posted a few times here and on W&A. Any more and it would be fatal to my bank balance - just lurking is often ruinous enough. I loved the Kenzo and neon leopard scarf but am not sure I can quite carry either off...Particularly as this will be my third child and I feel about 90 at the moment! I think I will probably go for the boring option of gold havianas and maybe the American vintage t shirt with the loose hem but you have emboldened me to look further afield at the following,
anya, helmut and sunglasses.

Anni - I love the Lena jacket too. That's actually what I was hankering for. I couldn't find a code anywhere either. My only hope was a John Lewis price match to an event somewhere else like HOF or Selfridges that might include Whistles.

The advice on Gigi pricing was spot on too, they are miles cheaper on other sites. I will save my free money and maybe buy elsewhere.

Oh foxy I'm looking at more trainers........ Fashion not gym this time, and after recent holiday splurge ( I did eventually find my gym turquoise Nike trainers in US) ill have to wait until next month.
These are the contenders
Started off looking for red, then thought blue would go well with jeans, but actually love the Gazelles and think they would go with everything.
Views anyone?

Or any other suggestions welcome too?

Annianni Sat 13-Apr-13 08:07:59

I love the grey gazelles Drywhite but i'd probably spill olive oil on them within a week, or ds2 would leave a muddy footprint on them...

I was thinking about some Ash virgo's (not linking just incase)

Might order some if those Jigsaw bags aren't nice. I'd forgotten I'd ordered a breton from AR blush
So I might still have some money to play with this month grin

Did you have a fab holiday?
What else did you buy?

Annianni Sat 13-Apr-13 08:13:20

It's glorious sunshine here (rain forecast later)
But while the sun's here, I'm going to wear crop Hudsons, ballet flats (to accommodate fat toe) and maybe just a cardigan over a tee grin

<going shed shopping again... rock n roll>

shopafrolic Sat 13-Apr-13 08:19:04

Sorry LeFreak blush

QueenCadbury Sat 13-Apr-13 08:37:30

drywhite love all of the trainers especially the gazelles. I'm considering some but want to try on first. Also need to convince dh that I need to replace the gold converse but he's hmm as I have 3 other pairs. What is it with men that they don't quite understand that you need hoes and bags in different colours.

I'm sporting the Anna wintour look today. I've had a headache/migraine for the past day and now I've got photophobia. Sitting here inside with sunnies on.

shopafrolic Sat 13-Apr-13 08:43:29

Oh QueenC I suffer with that - poor you!
Drywhite I love the Pumas - great colour too......
A morning in the garden and then a friend's opening party this afternoon, more friends for dinner this evening - fun times.
DH now has two interviews next week, the sun is temporarily shining - perhaps things are looking up.

foxysocks Sat 13-Apr-13 08:48:41

Love them all dry white, think the blue nikes edge it for me

Not sure what I'm going to do. I do like the vejas a lot (and I like their ethical status) but need to sleep on it a few more times. the NBs grey/yellow combo is better for fitting into my wardrobe but they now don't have them in the size I need.

Cos snood is absolutely lovely but the purse is going back. Returns city this weekend.

QueenC hope you feel better soon. X

foxysocks Sat 13-Apr-13 08:54:22

That is brill shop! So pleased. X

Hope you feel better soon QueenC - I did enjoy your comment about men not understanding that we need hoes in different colours wink

Have ordered the white boots. Well, I do work 9 to 5...

Great news about DH Shop! I will keep my fingers very firmly crossed for him.

shopafrolic Sat 13-Apr-13 09:01:19

Thanks all
Amber can't wait to see them in your blog - you'll make them work - I would look like a DP tribute act (not that I have the chest or the hair - or the surgery!)

Annianni Sat 13-Apr-13 09:52:06

That's fab news Shop, fingers crossed for you.

Postman's just been...

The AR saint James breton is hideous.
It's beige and navy, not white like the photos, scratchy thick fabric and enormous.

The black Jigsaw bag is all creased and bent, due to being packed in a plastic bag, instead of a box. Which is a shame as it's quite nice. But i'll just return it.

And finally...
The mushroom cross body one is lovely and definitely a keeper.
It almost looks grey in some light, and is the right length on me.
But most importantly I can fit my rather large purse in it.
I struggle to fit it in a lot of smaller bags, and I can't be bothered swapping purses over.

Annianni Sat 13-Apr-13 09:53:09

Get well soon QueenC

I also loved your hoes comment grin

shopafrolic Sat 13-Apr-13 09:59:46

Good news on the bag Anni and on the EBaying, and glad the Whistles jacket issue sorted - I love it when companies give good customer service. Big tick.

QueenCadbury Sat 13-Apr-13 10:09:25

I really should proof read!!

pickledsiblings Sat 13-Apr-13 10:14:17

Oh Amber, sorry about the Kenzo. They have in on NAP in cobalt (coming soon). Karaoke sounds like great fun.

Shop, lovely news that DH has some interviews, hopefully he'll have some of onelittlelady's DH's luck too.

Anni, glad you've found a cross body bag that you like, think you should call it a different colour than 'mushroom' though grin. <ponders>

Hopefully Sat 13-Apr-13 10:23:58

Lurking but not posting much this weekend as have a guest (don't even get me started). Will deserve a mini-spree by the time the weekend is over, I reckon!

foxysocks Sat 13-Apr-13 10:28:53

pmsl at hoes.

i like that bag anni. glad it's a keeper. where is your purse from? i REALLY need a new one but don't have big bucks to spend, saying that I want leather, natch.

tried on the vejas again and am starting to falll in loooooove.

noviceoftheday Sat 13-Apr-13 10:38:05

Hi all, just swapped RB blue suede courts for a bigger size. 3s too tight, 3.5 ever so slightly loose. So annoying! The witch from last week wasn't there though so didn't have to argue over whether I had really bought it from there or nicked it. hmm. Also picked up new amethyst and silver bracelet from magnolia jewelry, will see if I can find link later. While I was in RB, I saw the most gorgeous sandals with little gemstones which my mum will love. Will link that later.

About to spend an hour running around high street to see if there is anything I want to buy for holiday! Have a good morning smile

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Sat 13-Apr-13 10:43:05

Morning all! and what a beautiful one it is too. shop so pleased things are positive.
Anni bummer - so deflating when you don't like what you've been looking forward to. I returned the Boden slingback flats because the &Other Stories gold flats ere sooooo much nicer. Hope you find something you love more.
LeFreak I wore my Maison Scotch cobalt cords pretty much how they'd styled them - chunky cream roll neck sweater and my Marant Dicker rip offs tributes from Mango because it was freakin' freezing in Ireland. I have a lovely cream silk and lace shirt from Zara that looks great with them, but can't link because it's no longer on the website. I intend to put the gold flats on with them too, now the weather has improved (for now)

santamarianovella Sat 13-Apr-13 10:49:13

I don't know if anyone saw these, but I couldn't resist not linking, there is a wait list for themgrin

Good luck to your DH shop.

shopafrolic Sat 13-Apr-13 10:52:46

Good God Santa! No words.....

santamarianovella Sat 13-Apr-13 11:11:36

they can be very handy! if i wore them,DD will stick with me and not get distracted with every twig and leaf in our path!

Even I, the bad taste barometer, think those are awful.

QueenCadbury Sat 13-Apr-13 11:56:32

Phew, super strength painkillers have done away for the need for sunnies. Loving all the shopping going on and all the links. I'm so desperate for a good splurge myself. 1 week to go till colours done and then I'm hitting the shops!

shop I love these you recommended
from Asos they are my favourites actually and will order when home. Back tomorrow sad fab time......will report on purchases but 4 cases to sort.

shopafrolic Sat 13-Apr-13 12:30:45

Not sure I can take the credit for Grazia's editorial work - oh what the hell!

foxysocks Sat 13-Apr-13 12:37:35

I like those too drywhite, good call.

Annianni Sat 13-Apr-13 14:25:05

I don't think you'd want a purse like mine then Foxy, it's Prada. grin
But they are very nice and last for ages.

Bad news on the mushroom/taupe bag <sob>
On second viewing, it's got a few faults...
Glue on the inside of the flap (where you get into the bag)
and because the bag's a pale colour, it looks a mess.
Paint/dye on the end of the shoulder strap
and also on the shoulder strap (where the leather is joined) the edge hasn't been tucked in properly, so it's left a lump/ridge.

I'd expect that sort of finishing on one of dsd's Top Shop bags, but not on a bag that should have been £130.

I'd already returned the black one, when I did my ebay post office run earlier.
So i've just emailed Jigsaw customer services to ask for a pre-paid postage label.

Let's see if they are as nice as Whistles...

Navy jacket has been procured and will be here Tuesday grin

Now... has anyone seen a nice cross body bag in taupe/grey or black for less than £100?

Oh, and Belsize i've followed you on pin.
I'd re-pinned from you a while ago, I thought I recognised your name.

Annianni Sat 13-Apr-13 14:26:36

Foxy, the veja's are nice. Keep them grin

Nice shoes Drywhite.

Annianni Sat 13-Apr-13 14:33:56

I do like the grey Whistles bag that 40bumlady has, but it's more than I want to spend.

Nice bags are usually Christmas and birthday pressies in this house.

Dh is eyeing up my ebay money, to add to his shed fund hmm
So I need to spend it quick grin

How can sheds be so flipping expensive!?
The one he likes is £1200 which seems obscene...
When I could get this instead

libertychick Sat 13-Apr-13 15:35:39

Santa mad shoes to keep the DD from wandering away is not a bad idea. I had a nightmare morning with DD in the shops - she is usually ok but today was hell – grabbing everything. Had to abandon my plans to buy some new eyeshadow.
Foxy I love the veja’s – what’s putting you off them? For a leather wallet go to TKMaxx – always a good selection.
Drywhite ASOS Daleys on my wishlist too.
That’s really positive your DH is getting interviews Shop
Anni what’s your budget for a bag and will have a look? Shame about the quality of the Jigsaw ones.

noviceoftheday Sat 13-Apr-13 17:35:39

Hi all. I picked up this silver and amethyst bracelet today. Three of my friends turned 40 in February so I bought them amethyst jewellery to mark the occasion and this slipped into the basket.grin Except they were fab.... I have small wrists so they measured me and made it specially for me, no extra cost! The fit is perfect. They do lovely stuff and have made a fortune out of me this "academic year" as my school and uni friends and I all turn 40.

I love this flower watch and this funky watch but on last count I own about 10 watches so hard to justify!

From my wander to the shops today, I am going to buy this RB jewelled sandal for my mum's birthday. I hesitated today as I got confused between her shoe size and one of my sisters (whom I bought RB knee high suede boots for Christmas).

Annianni Sat 13-Apr-13 19:49:35

Thanks Liberty, I don't really want to spend more than £100.
Because there's other things I want need.

I quite like the look of this, need to see it irl though. Incase it's a bit blingy grin

QueenCadbury Sun 14-Apr-13 08:12:05

anni I've been searching for a grey cross body bag for what seems like forever. I've got a £6 one from primark currently until I find 'the one'. Let me know if you find one.

QueenCadbury Sun 14-Apr-13 08:15:14

anni have you looked at radley? None are quite the shade of grey I'm after but I do like the quality of radley.

QueenCadbury Sun 14-Apr-13 08:17:50

rose dust looks kind of grey.

QueenCadbury Sun 14-Apr-13 08:23:00

oasis. When I looked at this the other day it was described as plastic but now seems to be leather. Annoyingly oasis never state the size of their bags so I might check this out irl.

shopafrolic Sun 14-Apr-13 08:53:51

Good morning lovely ladies. The sun is shining!! squeal
Lovely party and then friends for dinner yesterday. They're getting married next year so lots to talk about and too many bottles of Waxed Bat consumed. Feeling a little tender again this morning.
Roast lunch with friends and DS' this afternoon, fingers crossed for good behaviour (from the two boys not the adults).
In honour of the sunshine I may get my ankles out and wear the M&S snakeskin slippers, no idea with what yet - talk about planning an outfit from the bottom up!
What's everyone up to today?

noviceoftheday Sun 14-Apr-13 09:31:22

Morning all! Sounds like a great evening shop. Oh and great news on your dh, fingers crossed.

I am sadly, paying for being foolish. I stopped taking the antibiotics when I got really busy at week which means the illness is back with a vengeance. Dh is understandably cross because everyone's immune systems are weak and we're worried about the virus recirculating back round the family. He's being kind really as I would be livid if tables were turnedblush. So not much plans to wear anything special today.

I have been holiday shopping and bought a few Freya bikinis, hats and beach bag this morning from figleaves. Have pinned them [[ here]] There is 20% off and the code is TWENTY.

noviceoftheday Sun 14-Apr-13 09:32:23
shopafrolic Sun 14-Apr-13 09:45:55

Oh Novice get well soon. I ended up on my antibiotics for 2 weeks in the end. This morning I've woken up with a sore throat again - I'm ignoring it, the sun WILL make it go away!

foxysocks Sun 14-Apr-13 10:39:43

oh novice poor you. i can understand wanting to stop early but if you take ABs it's REALLY important to finish the course.

sunny but very ominous looking dark grey clouds here. DH take DCs for a bike ride while I do yoga (just one more coffee.....) and then we are going for a walk later before roast dinner.

not sure what to wear. poss skinnies, vejas and grey marl sweatshirt a la the frugality although my sweatshirt is a little worse for wear (6 yrs old). might add one to my 'want' list....

foxysocks Sun 14-Apr-13 10:42:46

queenc if that bag is really leather it's a bargain

i love the grey rocco. mega bucks though. maybe for my fortieth <starts saving>

MarshaBrady Sun 14-Apr-13 11:09:54

Morning lovely sunny voguettes. Have been knee deep in house viewings and 8 year old birthday parties, well just ds's yesterday.

Am in J Crew yellow t in sunshine, and J Brands, plus wellies, very muddy.

Shop sounds good, good luck to dh in interviews.

Novice hope you feel better soon.

Foxy yes to a rocco, would be fab.

Big wave to everyone.

I love my Rocco, but it is wearing terribly. I'm not Mrs Precious with my bags, I'll admit, but the trim has worn right away in places after 4 months!

santamarianovella Sun 14-Apr-13 12:32:38

that does not sound good amber,i had a terrible experience with alexander wang ,i bought a pair of platform shoes a couple of years ago and vowed not to buy anything from them again! very very poor quality, and to think with this kind of price you would actually get a decent pair of shoes.American designers can do clothes, but with shoes and bags they just dont get it right.

shopafrolic Sun 14-Apr-13 12:36:18

Take it back Amber - that's ridiculous deterioration. Even if you exchange for a shiny new one.....

noviceoftheday Sun 14-Apr-13 14:18:47

Thanks for good wishes, i feel a little better after a nap though still in bed. Dh trying v hard not to look cross! Especially when I told him our upcoming holiday is not looking quite so bargainous anymore! hmm

Amber that's shocking! You should email Alexander Wang directly at least.

QueenCadbury Sun 14-Apr-13 15:08:15

I've just ordered the oasis bag as I found a 25% off code. Will report back if it really is leather or plastic.

amber I wouldn't be very impressed and would definitely contact them.

novice get well soon.

MrsRadicchio Sun 14-Apr-13 15:16:43

Hello all, lovely to see the sun shining - finally! Novice hope you get better soon. Shop what did you wear with the snakeskin flats in the end?

Foxy am pleased you like your vejas! I am pleased with mine though managed to mislay them for a few days. Put them away and then couldn't find them.

Today am wearing (from the bottom up, shop style!)
blue miista sliper shoes
navy polka dot trousers
white long sleeved t-shirt
liberty padded jacket for going outside.

Would like some advice re dying these neon trousers.

What colour will cover the neon? I'd like a pair of lilac / purple chinos, but not sure that would work with these. And does dylon work on clothes with elastane? Thanks!

Hopefully Sun 14-Apr-13 17:46:25

MrsR the best thing for dying over any colour is a darker/similar colour, unless you want to get into colour stripping (which can knacker clothes IME). Those trousers might go tan/mustard/brown/dark yellow/green, but probably not much else. How much elastane will affect how well the dye takes.

foxysocks Sun 14-Apr-13 18:03:29

can you return the neons MrsR if you're not sure they'll work for you?

I LOVE the vejas! took me a day or two but I wore them all round the house today and tried them on with lots of diff stuff. the shape is excellent for me and the grey/coral combo is brill. they are a bit too big but I'm not convinced the size down wouldn't have been too small - I could barely get the NBs on in that size, maybe my feet have grown a bit?!

foxysocks Sun 14-Apr-13 18:05:43

I had a quick hour in town today and maaaaan it was v depressing. plastic shoes, plastic clothes, cheap hemming, thin fabrics to the point of evaporation.

NBs come a little small, remember that about the pair I had as a teen and it is true of the ones I have now.

Returned a leopard print shift dress from Gap that was pretty but not right for my body shape, and exchanged for a pair of strappy grey flat sandals and a neon yellow shirt.

Hopefully Sun 14-Apr-13 18:29:19

So, I have been thinking about ordering this anglomania cardigan for ages, and I have just realised it is not only 78% polyester, the remaining 22% is nylon! For £297!!! shock. So, I'm on the look out for an alternative. I need a cardigan for spring/summer. I'm not wedded to natural fibres, but I am if I'm spending £300!

Hopefully Sun 14-Apr-13 18:30:00

My teenage NBs were a size 9, and I am a 7.5/8. I remember they always annoyed me, as the size 9 was just a bit too big, but I'd insisted on having them so had to wear them to death.

MarshaBrady Sun 14-Apr-13 18:49:18

I had some NBs once, a gift from some boyfriend. Wish I had kept them now, think I threw them out <bah>.

I'm now sporting a vair trendy tubergrip on my ankle after somehow twisting the ligaments. Ladies, do try to contain your jealousy at my immense sense of style. grin

shopafrolic Sun 14-Apr-13 20:17:53

So from the bottom up (shopstyle - love that!) I wore snakeskin flats

j Brands
hard working sweater

I confess to being a little bit drunk this evening so please bear with me!

foxysocks Sun 14-Apr-13 20:23:18

Hmm maybe I need to try and track them down in a 5 then. Gah!

foxysocks Sun 14-Apr-13 20:24:25

I wore skinny blue j brands, neon pink slouchy tee, rag and bone biker and navy converse. No scarf!!!

MarshaBrady Sun 14-Apr-13 20:43:42

I may zip up my Stella M coat in the protector thing....

Must be able to by now.

noviceoftheday Sun 14-Apr-13 20:50:22

Poor you onelittleladysad

I eventually got properly out of bed at 3pm. Took the dcs to the park so changed out of pjs into helmut Lang kinetic cowl top with Warehouse black jeggings, white Levi denim jacket and Russell & Bromley black ballerina flats. I felt like hell but looked good! Just sitting by ds while he goes to sleep and I will be back in pjs whenever ds decides to grace me with sleep hmm

I am doing another marks shop for the dcs. If John Lewis did fireman Sam pjs I would be straight there!

shopafrolic Sun 14-Apr-13 20:50:31

Thoughts on these? If I was shopping I'd be v tempted for Spring

shopafrolic Sun 14-Apr-13 20:52:21

Marsha don't jinx us! smile

noviceoftheday Sun 14-Apr-13 20:52:54

Marsha what will you switch to? Am thinking of sending my coat that I have lived in for 6 months dry cleaners and then storage. Can't work out whether I will be freezing in my mac this week or not!

noviceoftheday Sun 14-Apr-13 20:56:29

Way too funky for me Shop but am sure someone way triendier than me will be along to give you a proper opinion!!grin

They are......interesting boots. I'm curious as to what they could be worn with without clashing terribly.

shopafrolic Sun 14-Apr-13 21:00:12

Perhaps I should have laid off the wine tonight? grin

MarshaBrady Sun 14-Apr-13 21:01:29

Ha Shop I know gotta be careful.

Novice I switched today!

Vanessa Bruno tweed jacket today, also have a Gryphon navy peacoat. Both outnet bargains incidentally.

Shop bit funky for me too, I'm afraid. Trying to imagine how someone would wear them, not sure.

Never! In fact, I think you should have a glass on my behalf since my painkillers prevent me from having one of my one sad

shopafrolic Sun 14-Apr-13 21:01:31

Also amazing in Style mag today

Hopefully Sun 14-Apr-13 21:01:50

Gosh marsha how brave! Mind you I have been hot in thermals and biker jacket the past week - it may be time to ditch the thermals! Biker jacket needs a clean, but don't have anything else to wear so it stays until the weather's warmer! I don't even have a mac since my Zara one got too stained (remind me never to buy a cream mac again).

MarshaBrady Sun 14-Apr-13 21:02:09

Sure you didn't have any of those funny smokey things? wink grin

shopafrolic Sun 14-Apr-13 21:02:45

Where's Amber when I need support - <slinks off to sober up>

shopafrolic Sun 14-Apr-13 21:03:29

Not since 1993 Marsha smile

MarshaBrady Sun 14-Apr-13 21:03:57

Am slow, soz. That was to Shop.

I know, but it was 19 today!

19! I can't go back. The scarf at least, that needs a dry clean and I don't want to look at it for another year.

The citrus bright green acne can stay out as hasn't been used much.

MarshaBrady Sun 14-Apr-13 21:04:13

Me either Shop. Can't stand the stuff now.

QueenCadbury Sun 14-Apr-13 21:14:13

shop step away from the wine grin!

Oh what a lovely thought putting away the winter coat. Not sure that I dare yet as it still seems very wet here even if it is warmer.

shopafrolic Sun 14-Apr-13 21:17:52

Not even the turquoise ones? Sunday Times must have got it wrong then? Right, no more booze and no more links tonight.

QueenCadbury Sun 14-Apr-13 21:19:50

On second thoughts keep drinking. I'm rather enjoying the links grin

MarshaBrady Sun 14-Apr-13 21:20:42

Don't stop Shop! The turquoise ones are a bit better. Still, hard to wear?

shopafrolic Sun 14-Apr-13 21:23:01

I'll delete in the morning! This is why I don't have a credit card grin

MarshaBrady Sun 14-Apr-13 21:24:09

lol grin

libertychick Sun 14-Apr-13 21:27:48

Great outfit MrsR - especially the shoes
Bed early for you tonight Novice!
Shop hmmmm I couldn't do either of those boots - but I would wear those colours in a shoe - not sure what it is that makes the fluro boots a no no but shoes ok???
Anni sorry I haven't looked at any bags despite intending to - I second QueenC on radley - I have a tan cross body radley and it's fantastic quality. Got it for about £90 in a HoF sale.

Feeling crap today - very hungover after a friend's 40th birthday party last night. Popped out to go to M&S for some hangover food and caught sight of myself in a few mirrors and was suddenly appalled at how parsnip like my legs looked in my skinnies! All winter I have worn them with long tops/coats and superga or biker boots and today I was wearing the Leni blazer and NBs with them and it just looked all wrong - I may have to switch back to straight legs or baby bootcuts for the S/S looks.

Oh and whoever mentioned the M&S neon T's (think it was shop?) I got the pink one today - it's great thanks - much, much better IRL than on the website. here it is. Foxy and Marsha the yellow version is lovely.

shopafrolic Sun 14-Apr-13 21:43:13

Are you sure liberty ?
Glad you like the neon x

That should have been a link to the shoe at the bottom of the page

noviceoftheday Sun 14-Apr-13 22:37:29

No Shop, just no! X 3gringrin

Just popped last of pills for the day including nurofen and about to switch off. I am supposed to be having my picture taken first thing tomorrow because I hate my current professional photo (i look about 12) and my pic will be around next week. (for dull work reasons, I am not famous) I look like craaaap! Oh and I don't even know what I will be wearingshock and breathe.....!

Going to be controversial and say I like the patterned boots. Life is WAY too short for boring footwear. Sometimes I put my Russell and Bromley navy courts on and want to slit my wrists. Such is my disdain for my boring work shoes they all live in my desk drawer. I don't want to see them in my shoe closet (keep them all in see through boxes).

shopafrolic Mon 15-Apr-13 01:39:52

Thank you Amber

shopafrolic Mon 15-Apr-13 07:45:40

Morning all - I've looked back on Pin and am standing by 2 out of 3 of my boots from last night. The only thing that put me off the truly crazy print is the fact that they are satin!
Rest assured I'll be a bit more sensible this week.
Off training with a friend - haven't done any exercise in a month - wish me luck!

Annianni Mon 15-Apr-13 07:51:10

Thanks for the suggestions QueenC

And it's ok Liberty

I think i'll go for a wander round the shops with ds2 and look for bags (if he'll let me)

Our schools are finally back today grin

I got some bargainous grey Hudson jeans from ebay over the weekend for £11.
I have no idea what style they are, there was only one photo in which they were folded up, but i'll take a risk for that price.

Annianni Mon 15-Apr-13 07:52:12

Good luck Shop grin

MarshaBrady Mon 15-Apr-13 08:15:07

Good luck Shop don't be more sensible! Good to see what's out there.

Well done Anni re Hudsons.

School back tomorrow here, hope the sun doth shine

MrsRadicchio Mon 15-Apr-13 08:30:22

Ah shop, I'm actually a fan of mista shoes and have a couple of their more conservative offerings! Will pin when on pc.
hopefully, thanks for the dying advice. It doesn't sound like it will be straightforward. Not too keen on trousers the colours you suggested but doesn't sound like anything else would work well.
Can't send them back as bad them a while. Think I'll hang onto them, they might work with neutrals on a v hot sunny day.
Good bargain anni!

Nearly bought those trousers yesterday MrsR, I say keep - they'll look awesome with a grey marl tee, and FWIW I have lilac jeans that I never wear (but maybe that is because I have fat thighs...)

noviceoftheday Mon 15-Apr-13 08:58:55

Don't be sensible Shop!!!!! I won't let youshock. Besides, I told you someone waaay more fashionable than me would be along to give you a sensible opiniongrin

Annianni Mon 15-Apr-13 09:10:25

I agree with Amber, MrsR...
Those trousers will be fab on a hot day with a grey tee and flip flops etc.

MarshaBrady Mon 15-Apr-13 09:11:48

I'd keep them as they are too MrsR they are really nice.

foxysocks Mon 15-Apr-13 09:35:57

agreed, keep them as they are MrsR, perfect with grey marl.

what are you wearing today? me.. (ground up!)

navy converse
low rise flared diesel jeans (from 2001!!)
whistles breton
rag and bone biker

pickledsiblings Mon 15-Apr-13 09:55:08

So Shop, which of those delightful boots are you swayed by this morning smile? I love coloured footwear especially with bare legs. I'm less confident about what works with opaques though.

Good to hear that the Winter coats are making an exit. Have bought a mac as a safe interim one - it's navy Hopefully. Wore a gap denim jacket yesterday with some JBrand dark mulberry cords and navy Ash boots, TS checked shirt on top - felt good to be without layers.

Wearing Goldsign Virtuals, neon pink Gap v neck and grey NBs.

carrie74 Mon 15-Apr-13 10:03:39

Morning all!

Shop I actually like the multi-coloured boots, and seen them somewhere else too. BUT, difficult to style for the school run...

Had a lovely weekend. London on Saturday with friends for lunch at Hush. Wore boyfriend jeans rolled up, Bauken long T and green cardie/jacket and my trusty Hudsons.

Yesterday went to visit my parents who have family friends from the US staying. Wore skinnies, silk Massimo Dutti top, grey biker boots and grey DKNY Cozy. The granddaughter (17) told me I looked like Keira Knightley grin. (I really don't look like Keira Knightley. This is probably evidenced by the grandmother, who has known me since birth saying I had a touch of Princess Di and Julie Andrews about me. I think all likenesses boil down to the fact I have short hair - think KK as Domino: Domino

Annianni Mon 15-Apr-13 10:07:54

Sam Edelman baxton flats
Hudson beth baby bootcuts
Gap coral mesh sleeved sweater
3/4 sleeves and no coat woo hoo! grin

Off out shopping now.

MarshaBrady Mon 15-Apr-13 10:16:24

C/e floral skinnies (last year, practically retro these days)
Maje white top with lace details
J Crew t - pistachio

MrsRadicchio Mon 15-Apr-13 10:31:13

whistles blazer on ebay.

my miistas

The multi coloured miistas shop pinned could look good with white jeans and a neon t. Its the raver in you coming out, shop!

foxysocks Mon 15-Apr-13 10:38:49

bwahaha MrsR I sold a CK toiletries bag on ebay straight after christmas. do my family not know me AT ALL?

MrsRadicchio Mon 15-Apr-13 10:47:12

He he, mine was from MIL. Not my thing but people seem to like them on ebay (hope so at least).

Some lovely things on the outnet just in. Lots of Zoe Karssen t-shirts.

T by AW dress

like this dress

nice cuff

Marsha these trousers?

foxysocks Mon 15-Apr-13 10:55:12

I sold a CK toiletries case and matching small canvas shopper for £20, and spent the £20 on I&I cashmere from blondambition. i think that's what's known as a #win.

MarshaBrady Mon 15-Apr-13 11:37:27

lol Foxy good one.

Close MrsR these c/e ones.

Also think some even older c/e pale yellow ones are on there too.

I get perfume often from my parents <sob> I never wear it. My other sister got some too, and my little sister got what looked like a life time supply of Lancôme products in a big case. We all looked like this shock. We've all been taking my mother's Lancôme freebies from time immemorial, it's not hard to see how we feel about this grin.

Hopefully Mon 15-Apr-13 11:44:15

I was sorely tempted by this cardigan on the outnet this morning, but fortunately it has now sold out in my size, so temptation removed grin. I think I need to check ebay for something similar - it's not like it's a one-season-wonder that I need to buy brand new right now!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Mon 15-Apr-13 11:59:50

Oooh Hopefully that is gorgeous - looks so lovely on the model.
grin at your dodgy gifts Marsha, MrsR and Foxy. MIL is the giver of dodgy gifts in our family. DH (who is probably more of a clothes horse than I) received a bowl/ashtray type thing from her for christmas (he doesn't even smoke). It was made from clunky clay, like the DCs would make at school, except it had a 'made in china' sticker on the bottom. Very tasteful, in red and green with a robin sitting on it. DH's face was a picture when he opened it. His thought process went 'WTF? Have I opened the right present?' then shaking head 'She has definitely lost it'.

Annianni Mon 15-Apr-13 12:34:14

Lovely cardigan Hopefully

Ds2 is being an angel. I've been able to look in loads of shops.

Selfridges has some lovely Whistles pieces but unfortunately I can't try any of it on, as they have nothing available above a size 12 hmm

QueenCadbury Mon 15-Apr-13 13:00:06

Woohoo the sun is out and the day is good (although I've just found out one of my cats has cancer sad). Wore a coat on the school run but had to take it off and was wearing just a tshirt and a 3/4 length sleeve cardi. I think today is the first day in over 6 months that I haven't worn a vest!

I'm so unadventourous when it comes to clothes/shoes-ambers r&b navy courts sound like my idea of shoe heaven grin.

hopefully you have your work cut out on Saturday to get me out of navy/black and grey!!

shopafrolic Mon 15-Apr-13 13:02:15

I'm still alive - sweaty and horribly red faced but alive!
MrsR I definitely need to investigate Miista further and YY to it being the raver in me coming out! You have a good memory - I can never remember who said what on here - I wonder why? grin
Love the T Wang dress too - if I a) had any money and b) it didn't have a racer back I'd be very tempted - I've not tried that length yet
Carrie love the sound of your weekend and your outfits (and your hair). I'm a fellow short haired stylista - beginning to wonder if my jawline can still carry it off though, I could do with a ponytail pulled back way too tight for an instant facelift TBH
Love the cardigan Hopefully
Everyone's outfits sound fab.
I wore the snakeskin flats pain free yesterday so the stretching worked. I'm still in my gym gear so need to shower and get dressed in something half decent.......
If anyone has a few spare fingers can they keep them crossed for DH's first interview today at 2.30? He has another (that he really wants) tomorrow at 8.45.......

shopafrolic Mon 15-Apr-13 13:03:34

Anni i love it when they let you shop! Have fun but boo to sizing challenges.
QueenC am very excited for you for Saturday. Enjoy and can't wait to hear your diagnosis!

Annianni Mon 15-Apr-13 13:06:21

So sorry QueenC, is there anything they can do?

Wey hey... John Lewis has the fat women sizes... Just tried a lovely Whistles coral 3/4 sleeve sweater, £75.
Was just deciding to get it when I realised it was polyester and acrylic! <sob>

Decameron Mon 15-Apr-13 13:06:41

Hi all.

Shop, good news about the interviews. I like the purple boots.

The worst present I got was bright pink birkenstocks. Hate them and find them really uncomfortable. They went straight back.

Novice, those bracelets you bought your friends are so pretty. Amethyst is my birth stone too. Hope you are feeling better.

From the feet up, I am wearing red R&B ballet flats, Goldsign lure skinny jeans, and Maxmara navy top and jacket.

This Boden bag arrived, got it for £37 with discounts and voucher, nice leather and great for the price. Although I am going to Westfield on Thursday and very tempted to go buy a bright Coach bag.

Decameron Mon 15-Apr-13 13:08:04

Fingers are crossed, Shop.

shopafrolic Mon 15-Apr-13 13:32:22

I wish I'd found Miista in my thirties not forties!
Amazing green boots
flouro brogues & rose gold metallic brogues

shopafrolic Mon 15-Apr-13 13:33:27

Fingers and everything else crossed shop

So sorry about your cat QueenC sad I hope s/he isn't suffering.

Hopefully Mon 15-Apr-13 13:50:02

Sorry about your cat QueenC, and don't worry, I am getting very used to easing people out of the grey/black comfort zone (actually more people wedded to charcoal grey than black at the moment, I find).

I am working incredibly hard today, but everything is taking about 10% longer than expected, so my To Do list is not decreasing as it needs to. Grrr.

QueenCadbury Mon 15-Apr-13 13:50:09

Thanks anni and littlelady. She's fine actually, just pissed off and grumpy as she had an operation last week to remove 2 lumps and now has a collar on so she doesn't bite at the stitches and isn't allowed outside. Can't wait till Friday when she has the stitches out and I have my happy cat back!

shop I'll cross my fingers for you.

shopafrolic Mon 15-Apr-13 14:26:04

QueenC sorry - I must have cross posted about you when you mentioned your cat. Horrible news but sounds as though she is on the mend.....
Hopefully the woman I went to see wasn't an HoC woman and described me as Warm, Deep Autumn. There is a grey in my colour swatch book - a warmish dove grey I guess I'd describe it as - I naughtily use that as my excuse to wear any grey I like the look of! It's been the hardest colour to step away from...
Finally clean and dressed! Today is the first outing of my Ralph Lauren breton (remember that saga?) - the good news is I still absolutely love it so thanks again ladies. I am wearing it with the rust coloured J Brands (again) which come up cropped on me and some French Sole leopard print flats. White ankles screaming at me to fake tan them.

Hopefully Mon 15-Apr-13 16:35:24

I come bearing news of possibly the least exciting purchase ever. A plain cream t-shirt from M&S. It is, as always with M&S, far nicer than it appears on the model, nice and slouchy and perfect for khaki skinnies and sandals (because, you know, that kind of weather might happen for 14 minutes one day this year). It is not, however, a cardigan, which is what I was actually in town looking for. Ho hum.

Hopefully Mon 15-Apr-13 16:36:03

I also tried on the M&S snake print slippers, but they looked awful, annoyingly. I think I need proper pointy or round toe, I can't do anything in between, for some reason.

foxysocks Mon 15-Apr-13 17:07:19

I really want the JV neon slippers, hopefully, but i can't afford them (even with the discount code they kindly sent to me)

does anyone have a code for wrap london? or used them before? TIA..

MrsRadicchio Mon 15-Apr-13 19:34:58

Ooh, foxy, how did you get a discount code? I am considering them as my one purchase for next month.
amber, have you seen the white boots shop linked to? Maybe an alternative to the kg ones, or did you get them in the end?

Queen c, hope your cat is ok and it is at the curable stage.

Hope your dh's interview went well shop, and good luck for tmw.

Today I wore grey leopard print skinnies with grey sweathirt and white converse plus an Aztec blazer I bought from beyond retro. I have so many jackets and blazers but the weather either seems too cold or too hot to wear them.

I may be passing an m and s tomorrow and will look at the snakeskin flats, seeing as they are getting good reviews here.

Thanks to the advice re the neon chinos and what to wear with, I will keep them and let you know when I wear them!

MrsRadicchio Mon 15-Apr-13 19:37:26

I've bought a broderie anglaise shirt from wrap in the sale, but never received a code. What have you got your eye on, foxy?

Yep white boots are in the post I'm afraid.

<wanders off humming Islands in the Stream>

shopafrolic Mon 15-Apr-13 20:15:46

MrsR I think Amber already ordered the KG ones but thought she might love the white and neon too! Good call on keeping the trousers.
Hopefully a cream t-shirt is a rare thing indeed, might have to take a look myself since I can't wear white now.
Foxy I can't help with Wrap sorry.
Anni what did you buy today?
So DH has had a good interview today, through to meet the European Sales Head and then next stop CEO interview. He really liked them too so that's good. Tomorrow is his more favoured role but he feels happy that today might work too. Hopefully they feel as keen.....

shopafrolic Mon 15-Apr-13 20:16:22

What did you think of the white and neon Amber?

noviceoftheday Mon 15-Apr-13 20:31:06

Hi all! Manic day and still coughing and spluttering. Got home and dh took (mostly headshot) photos of me. I have been wearing black Austin Reed dress, black Armani jacket (the one from the birthday shopping spree) and black mac from M&S. only £39 and petite, it looked really nice. importantly it wasn't the winter coat!

I did look slightly funeral like but was going for classic black look, so slicked hair back into high ponytail and my 2 pops of colour were my blue balenciaga and my new love tanzanite and diamond ring.

As i was walking off the train and I was thinking that Shop's shoes would have brightened up my outfit and smiled to myself as I looked down at my RB ballerinas (which I use for journey in) and thought of Ambergrin

noviceoftheday Mon 15-Apr-13 20:31:46

That's terrific news Shop

Hopefully Mon 15-Apr-13 20:41:15

Great news Shop. And yes, a good cream t-shirt is rare - I have one scoop neck one from New Look that (apart from the neckline, which I cover with a scarf) is perfect, but it is as old as my firstborn, so looking a weeny bit tired now! Have never found another good one.

Have just Shredded for the first time in about 6 weeks. Wasn't as bad as I was expecting, although I am v wobbly!

I'm back with monster jet do people work transatlantic on a regular basis? Was like a hungover zombie at work today, but glad to see the sun today, I even got my (tannedgrin) feet out in ballerinas.
shop hope the interview went well
QueenC so sorry about your cat, hope she can be cured.
All the links look great. I love this thread because everyone has such varied tastes and styles.

Today I wore
this top
anecklace similar to this
these ballet flats
And a pair of Banana Republic 7/8 black tapered trs.

When I got home I changed into my beloved comfy bf jeans
this top
my lovely RBs

Novice hope you feel better soon. I remember how awful it was being ill with young children, horrid.....eventually they grow up and can look after themselves/ you if you don't mind beans on toast for tea

I really like those white and neon ones, clearly white boots are like buses. If the KGs don't work out for me, I'll definitely try them. Because obviously I now need white boots...

shopafrolic Mon 15-Apr-13 21:22:19

Thought you might Amber I've pinned the brown and orange version as I'm more boring!

MarshaBrady Mon 15-Apr-13 21:23:53

Welcome back Dry! Jet lag is a bugger indeed. It takes me nearly two weeks to get over it when we go to Aus for Christmas.

Shop sounds good, big good luck for your dh.

noviceoftheday Mon 15-Apr-13 21:43:20

Welcome back Dry! And thanks. I am hoping winter is finally over and this is the end of the illnesses as I am exhausted.sad I used to be able to go to New York on a friday, hang out all weekend with my friends and take the red eye for a monday and work all day.shock I look back now and think who was that person?? Hope you don't suffer too long. Love your outfits today.

libertychick Mon 15-Apr-13 21:53:11

Today I wore grey A-Line short H&M skirt, white A&W shirt and black zara blazer with black opaques and Whistles loafers - bit boring but it's work. And as I am mixing up my look I won't be wearing it again for at least a month!
Foxy how did you get a JV code - have you shopped with them already? I have signed up for emails, followed them on pin all in the vain hope of getting a code - can you share it or is it just for you to use? If you can share could you pm me or can you tell me the date you got your and I'll check my spam folder? My M&S snakeskin flats sage continues - went in today to collect the 5 and 5.5. The 5.5 fit but the pattern comes up different on each shoe and I didn't like how it looked - the front of both shoes was almost completely cream with very little black and I really didn't like them. Returned them on the spot and have just now ordered again...if it doesn't work out this time I may take it as a sign from the fashion gods and order the JV's!!!

noviceoftheday Mon 15-Apr-13 21:59:27

Am I the only one who wore s oat today?blush There were loads of us on the train!

Liberty, how is the clothes changing thing going? I am thinking of doing the same with jewelry, I have a lot from cheap and cheerful to expensive but have got very boring recently.

I can share a 20% off code for JV - FFAM2012.

libertychick Mon 15-Apr-13 22:03:39

I am rubbish with jet lag too Drywhite.
QueenC really sorry to hear about your poor cat - and I am so excited for you on Saturday - fingers crossed you don't have to abandon all your favourite neutrals!
Shop a raver girl skirt to go with your neon boots?? smile

noviceoftheday Mon 15-Apr-13 22:04:00

That should be a coat by the way!

Also another random post..... There is an M&S outlet website and has kids stuff! <sits back down>

Amber have just read your white boot thread. Cowboy boots are not for me, however I completely agree with what you said about hating trends at first but then after awhile of seeing them around, we all want them!!!! In Style mag has a page on white shoes this month and I never thought I'd say this after my 80s stilettos, but they look really lovely and I quite fancy a pair!!!grin
I look forward to seeing you in them on your blog

shopafrolic Mon 15-Apr-13 22:14:55

Love the skirt Liberty back in the day and at half the price I'd have worn that for sure

libertychick Mon 15-Apr-13 22:32:18

Novice I am only 3 days in with my pledge to wear something different every day for a month so not difficult so far!!! Tomorrow I am wearing a new combination - this mustard BR skirt with a crochet top I bought last year in TKMaxx and hardly ever wore - it was cream but I have dyed in black and it has gold lurex threads on all the cuffs which really show with the black. Going to wear a pink, mustard and black floral scarf I got in Primark ages ago which I haven't worn a lot. It looks good together on the hanger!!! Will add a gold and black cuff as well. Nude fishnet tights, shoes - not sure yet, black courts would be best but I'll probably wear ballet flats or brogues.

And yes I am still in my trusty black hooded parka - it's not that springlike at 7.30am on the Tube platform in the outer London suburbs!

Amber - thank you thanks. So tempting...I may just order and then compare with the M&S ones if they are any good. Have spent way too much this month though...

Hi everyone, I am back too!

Our holiday was lovely (sunshine amazing) but slightly jinxed..after my last post we had one peaceful day then DD tripped on the same step as DS1 did but she ended up bashing her front teeth in and having to have her lip stitched, poor baby. It was horrendous, definitely took away the good holiday feeling for a day or so. The rest of the week was lovely though. Now we are back I have to book an appointment for her to have stitches removed, also get hold of insurance co, police, etc for break in.

To console myself slightly whilst there I ordered the Love sweater from Shopbop and it is on its way smile. Great to come home to some mild weather, DH and I popped out for a 5km run round the park this evening - nearly killed me, I have barely done any exercise in the last month what with flu and holidays and DH runs too fast for me, I looked like this angry when we got back grin. I am on a mission to get back into shape before my little trip away in 10 days (and the Acne dress which will not allow any extra lbs).

Loving all the links to some great - satin boots - really??grin Good luck to your DH. And well done to yours little. Not sure aboutthe white cowboy boots Amber, but could definitely be persuaded into white heels smile.

Sorry to hear about your cat QueenC is she very old?

Travelled in white supergas, duffy colourblock sweater and cropped zara jeans with orange zara bag today. Looking forward to some nice weather tomorrow, DD is back in school, will probably take the boys to the zoo once all the tedious admin is out of the way smile.

Decameron Tue 16-Apr-13 07:30:07

Welcome back, Sleep and Drywhite. Ouch, Sleep, your poor DD. I like the sweater.

Liberty, you should do an outfit of the day photo! Sounds great.

I woke up regretting that Boden bag (sometimes I even embarrass myself with my shallowness!) so going to return.

I really like that pale grey Whistles bag you pinned, Anni. Did you see it yesterday?

I've put away my winter coats, wearing trench coat/Barbour/Weekend Maxmara light quilted coats now.

Decameron Tue 16-Apr-13 07:31:21

Foxy, I have bought a couple of tops from Wrap, sizing is on the large side.

Decameron Tue 16-Apr-13 07:32:03

Oh and good luck to your DH for his next interview, Shop.

noviceoftheday Tue 16-Apr-13 08:22:58

Liberty, I love that skirt.

have already failed today in my quest to wear different jewelry as I am wearing the tanzanite and ring again. It's the debut of the RB blue court shoes

noviceoftheday Tue 16-Apr-13 08:28:48

Posted too soon! The shoes are lovely and got balenciaga blue bag too. Navy pin striped dress from John Lewis collection and fenn wright Manson navy jacket. Two important meetings today! Oh and the new M&S mac. I hope it doesn't go in the way of last cheap mac u bought which lasted a season. I am thinking of a Burberry this autumn.

Hope Shops dh is confidently walking into his meeting now,

Hopefully Tue 16-Apr-13 08:32:29

I am looking slightly homeless today in v hard-working outfit of old Topshop forest green military style sweater, whistles tube skirt that is looking decidedly faded after a winter of hard use and brown opaques. Ugh I am so bored of my clothes at the moment! Have a massive car service coming up, so am trying to hold onto my purse strings until that is out of the way, then I am determined to fill a few gaps in my wardrobe!

shopafrolic Tue 16-Apr-13 08:39:29

Morning all - welcome back Sleep and Drywhite.
Sleep you've had an eventful time! I do hope DD isn't feeling too sore and that the aftermath of the break in is easy to sort.
All these celestial boots and skirts remind me of the interior of the lifts at the Sanderson hotel. Have you ever been there?
Sanderson Perhaps it should be the venue for another MNV meet up?
I'm off for a meeting with my old retail colleagues this morning (with DS in tow so not too formal) - need to dig out some kind of skinny jeans / blazer combo - heading upstairs now to investigate (zero planning!)
DH is in London interviewing - knowing the way our lives work we'll both be offered jobs at once!

shopafrolic Tue 16-Apr-13 08:40:53

Hopefully am going to look at that cream tee in M&S today
Need to get a raft of birthday presents too - my mum, DH, and several friends - expensive hmm

Annianni Tue 16-Apr-13 09:35:38

Welcome back Sleep, your holiday sounds rather stressful though.

Finger's crossed for you Shop.

I saw some lovely things yesterday...
I saw a grey bag in Whistles concession on a shelf, Decam and have assumed that it's this one
But I didn't dare to touch it, as I knew it was out of my price range at the moment. It did look nice though.

So did this lovely grey bag and it's lovely leather. But I did want a cross body one.

John Lewis had this in tan and it's very nice too.

I'd happily have all three grin

I did see some beautiful sequin jackets (amongst other things) by Maje, but they're not on Selfridges site or NaP to link.

I did try this top and I loved it, and wanted it. But the fabric content pissed me off, so I put it back grin
If JL or HoF do a 20% day, I'll order it.

Also loved this
and this but I couldn't try them due to a lack of sizes sad
and this but seeing as the model's wearing a size M, there's not much point in me trying that one grin

I did buy the Gap taupe leather soft bag that can be cross body etc for £29-99 in the sale.
I tried the neon pink and yellow bags but they didn't work on me.

Also tried the M&S neon pink tee, but the colour was wrong on me.
I tried Gap's version but they didn't have my size.
So I ordered it last night, along with this one

Annianni Tue 16-Apr-13 09:38:51

I'm wearing grey m&s slippers
Hudson baby bootcuts (again)
and a Gap cobalt mesh sleeved sweater.

But I think the blue's are clashing and i'll change my top when I go upstairs.

Whistles lena jacket is due today smile

Annianni Tue 16-Apr-13 09:42:25

Oh, and Jigsaw customer services sent me an apologetic email yesterday and are sending me a pre-paid returns label in the post for the bag.
So they get a thumbs up.

Hopefully Tue 16-Apr-13 10:08:01

Shop I sized up (I am a large 10/small 12, and i got a 12) for extra slouchiness.

shopafrolic Tue 16-Apr-13 10:10:48

Woo hoo! DH through to second round on both interviews! Thanks for the crossed fingers! smile

Annianni Tue 16-Apr-13 10:16:14

I wasn't keen on the Banana Republic bags.
The metallic one looked like plastic.
Although it did look nice in the green
And this bag is nice.

Here's a photo of the Gap bag in my bathroom grin
As I can't find it online.

Annianni Tue 16-Apr-13 10:17:51

That's fantastic news Shop.
Good luck to Mr Shop smile

Great news Shop, fingers crossed!

I'm being daring and wearing a neon yellow shirt to work...

Amber where did the neon shirt come from? Sounds fun.

Annianni Tue 16-Apr-13 11:05:47

20% off Shopbop today using the code WEAREFAMILY13

MarshaBrady Tue 16-Apr-13 11:07:35

Great news Shop!, fingers crossed.

I rather like my outfit today, peacoat (love it), orange mnv sweater and stella grey skinnies with ankle zip plus snakeskin flats. A new combo <rejoice>.

Charles Philip Shanghai leopard slippers on the outnet if anyone is looking for some. Actually not sure whether to say / link, as it probably helps them sell out.

Gap's finest Hopefully, they also had orange. Called a shrunken boyfriend I believe.

Hopefully Tue 16-Apr-13 11:34:39

grin at shrunken boyfriend.

pickledsiblings Tue 16-Apr-13 12:01:16

Shop, that's great news about DH.

Novice, I have recently bought this Tommy Hilfiger mac - I'm amazed at how similar your M&S one is to it. There aren't that many single breasted ones around.

Marsha, hurray for new outfit combo, sounds good.

Anni, I don't think neon bags work on me either, nice bathroom btw.

Sleep, glad you had a good, albeit eventful holiday. DS2 split his lip yesterday (a cm long gash) but it stopped bleeding very quickly and seems to have healed well overnight - I wondered at the time if it might have needed to be stitched. How did you know to have DD's stitched, did it bleed lots? <clueless mum> How old is your DD? Hope she didn't damage her teeth too, poor thing. As long as the holiday ended well, that's the main thing as apparently we mostly remember endings.

libertychick Tue 16-Apr-13 12:46:30

Well done Mr Shop will keep the fingers crossed!

I am thinking about taking photos of outfits Decam just for reference for myself at the end of the month - not brave enough to post them on-line. Outfit is annoying me today as the nude fishnet tights are all wrong - they are so pale they almost look white and it's pissing me off everytime I go into the loo and see them in the full length mirror!!!

Wincing at the split lip descriptions - poor DC's.

Great blog post today hopefully.

Anni I bought the same Gap bag in navy. I am finding it a little unstructured but it's a great size and shape.

MarshaBrady Tue 16-Apr-13 12:53:07

Sleep welcome back! Your poor dd, hope she is feeling ok. And your ds Pickled.

Pickled I love that mac, how did I not know you bought that? wink grin. Fantastic length. Quite like Hilfiger ads / styling atm. They went through a patch in the 90s where it was all ripped off too much. New store in Regent St I think.

Oh no Liberty I hate it when an item bugs!

Have just pinned loads from French Voguettes. So so stylish, obviously with that name grin.

Love this look and this and this.

MrsRadicchio Tue 16-Apr-13 14:15:53

Welcome back sleep, sounds quite a traumatic holiday.

Great news shop

hopefully when you mentioned your outfit on here, I was hoping you'd do an outfit post as it sounds right up my street. Looks good on the blog.

I had been hoping to go to some real shops today, but DS1 being ill (again!) put paid to that. Had been planning to see if I could find the snakeskin M&S flats, plus the leopard jacket in this post. I have 25%off voucher and I saw it in store last week and it looks good. 100% cotton iirc.

Since breaking my shoe ban, I have been looking at loads of shoes.

Love the JV flats (thanks for posting the code Amber!)

Also love these though when would I wear them?

What do people think of

these ? I like them but again not sure what I would wear them with. Plus are they a bit too mannish I wonder?

also like these

these are lovely

and these

Also liked those Charles Philip Shangai flats Marsha but sold out in all but the small sizes.

Aargh, I need to be stopped!

Hopefully Tue 16-Apr-13 14:20:50

MrsR and Liberty thanks for the blog love smile. I have decided to do a few more iPhone-in-the-mirror shots, much as I hate them. I just don't have the time most days to set up a tripod, and it's rather silly never ever posting my outfits because I don't have time to set up a 'proper' shot.

I have new hair, am very happy with it.

foxysocks Tue 16-Apr-13 14:26:15

oh amber's code better than mine which was only 15%. still love the JV neons but am also v taken with the DvF yellow flats on matches.

have only spent £60 on clothes this month, presuming I keep the J Crew tee (which is on it's way!) <polishes halo>

welcome back sleep

nice mac pickled

also loved your blog hopefully esp that divine scarf. tempted!

shopafrolic Tue 16-Apr-13 15:14:14

Need to look at links in a bit but successful morning - that tee is fab Hopefully I sized up as you mentioned - really lovely - thanks
While there I bought this for my mum's birthday
hideous pic as always
She's in her 70s but stylish. Have got a gift receipt just in case.
The best news is that having come all the way home from London this morning feeling that his interview went v well, DH has to be back in Charing Cross for 5 PM suited and booted again for round 2! YAY!!!!

foxysocks Tue 16-Apr-13 15:20:38

oh shop that is properly BRILLIANT! well done MrShop and good luck for the next round.

Hopefully Tue 16-Apr-13 15:23:08

Shop great news about DH! (And the t-shirt, obv wink)

Decameron Tue 16-Apr-13 15:24:03

That's fantastic, Shop.

Love those looks, Marsha.

I like the Jemima Vine shoes best, MrsR.

Just checked your blog, Hopefully. Great outfit today.

shopafrolic Tue 16-Apr-13 15:54:53

Hopefully (should have checked instore) but just realised the cream tshirt is Viscose! I have a poor track record with viscose (makes me sweat) so it might have to go back sad - might risk it and see though as it is very lovely.......

Hopefully Tue 16-Apr-13 16:06:09

Shop I decided to risk it since I can't find a single bloody non-viscose t-shirt any more (unless it is poly). Oh for some decent natural fibres!

shopafrolic Tue 16-Apr-13 16:09:43

I know! Such a nightmare. Will risk it too then! It is lovely, I like the different texture to the back.....

Sounding very promising Shop, fingers crossed for him!

pickled tbh, with DD's lip I could see it was a mess (inside her lip) and she had a small, deep 1cm cut on the outside, but it was her teeth that alarmed me the most, bashed backwards and bleeding gums <shudder>. We took her to the doctor who wasn't interested in her teeth (not being a dentist!) but said the cut inside needed stitches. It was only the next morning that we called dentist in the uk who told us that the teeth should have been pushed back into position immediately, otherwise they reset sad - so her teeth are angled slightly further back than they were, but she can still bite with them (or will) and she's nearly 5 so our consolation is they will probably fall out soon anyway and it shouldn't affect the adult teeth. But now you all know what to do if your DC's bash their teeth back, with a cut I think if its open and looking like staying so, it will need stitches, but generally i think rely on instinct and if you feel worried, get it checked!

Nice pins Marsha. MrsR, my fave out of those shoes are the Clarks (not something I would say very often smile.

Slightly irritated by code for Shopbop after ordering that sweater last week hmm. Oh well there were only 2 left and it would probably cost nearly as much to return one as i save if I reordered with discount.

Nice afternoon at the zoo with DS's. Wore cropped white Kookai jeans, cobalt h&m vest with duffy loose knit sweater over it, orange bag and gold toes leopard ballerinas...for about ten minutes then admitted defeat in face of cold wind and added charcoal cashmere t-shirt under white sweater and blue/grey leopard scarf grin. Off to a gig tonight, not sure what to go for from the wardrobe yet.

shopafrolic Tue 16-Apr-13 17:33:12

Anna website has relaunched. 10% off everything online (so I assume inlcuding sale) with code RELAUNCH at checkout

Fingers crossed for DH shop. Loving some of the links, shame I have no money to spend right now sad

shopafrolic Tue 16-Apr-13 18:06:43

Won't be long now One x

shopafrolic Tue 16-Apr-13 19:24:56

Woo hoo!! DH is through to third and final CEO presentation next week!

Brilliant news shop just gotta to keep everything crossed for next week smile

Hopefully Tue 16-Apr-13 20:00:00

Great news Shop! Really pleased for you.

shopafrolic Tue 16-Apr-13 20:14:34

Hopefully you'd have been doubly proud of me today as for probably the first time ever I went out dressed head to toe in my colours.
I wore, dark blue skinny jeans, cream and red breton, cream Whistles Leni jacket, tan Spirals, Zara leopard print scarf, red lipstick, tan Mulberry bag, rose gold jewellery. My old work colleagues were all apparently amazed y how 'well' I looked grin

QueenCadbury Tue 16-Apr-13 20:38:33

Wow, so many links in one day. Even though I've only just looked at them I can't remember who posted what! Except anni and the bags and I love all those. I also have the gap navy one and love it as it fits purse, phone and nappies!

sleep how traumatic but as you say at least they will fall out soon so hopefully all will be fine.

shop great news for dh.

Thanks again to all of you wishing my cat well. Hopefully she's had all the cancer removed and our vet spoke to a vet oncologist (who knew such a thing existed?) who advised to do nothing else. Not sure what else we would do as I sure as hell wouldn't give a cat chemo.

Finally wore the boucle today but it felt all wrong and not really sure why. It was a considered purchase and I love it but I felt a bit drab in it. Maybe I am ready to embrace colour after all!

QueenC I love that jacket, v tempted indeed have been looking for a Chanel style one for ages. Ordered one ( with 50% off from La Redoute) so will wait to see what it's like, but yours looks nicer.
shop great news, fingers crossed

noviceoftheday Tue 16-Apr-13 22:30:00

Evening all! Am exhausted. Just on way home from work.

QueenC, I like re boucle <unhelpful>smile. Hope your cat gets better.

Loved the sound of your outfit Shop and well done Mr Shop!

pickled, I love that mac! I am looking for a beige one, which is why I mentioned Burberry but if that's around in the autumn, I will get it from the States.

pickledsiblings Tue 16-Apr-13 23:20:38

Oh Sleep, poor DD and her teeth, I'm sure you felt awful for her. I wouldn't have guessed that you are meant to push the teeth back into place <ouch>. I hope she heals quickly.

Hopefully Wed 17-Apr-13 07:20:43

Am just dressing for a team meeting today (the only time I really see my colleagues) and debating whether I am going to cook in leather leggings (with asymmetric kettlewell t-shirt and bespoke blazer). Probably not, it's something like 9 degrees out at the moment, can't believe it's going to be a blazing hot day!

Annianni Wed 17-Apr-13 07:45:58

I'd wear them Hopefully.

I'm miles away from you, but we've got heavy rain and 19mph winds.

Go on Hopefully... I'm loving this in between weather clothes wise.

shopafrolic Wed 17-Apr-13 08:02:34

Definitely wear them Hopefully - I know we're miles away but it's raining here

Hopefully Wed 17-Apr-13 09:01:08

I have decided it is definitely cool enough for the leather leggings, and an very please about that as I wait in the cold for my lift!

carrie74 Wed 17-Apr-13 09:24:20

Morning all!

Shop fab news grin. Loving the sound of your outfit too!

I'm feeling quite good in my business casual today: black straight leg trousers (Zara, but they're not wearing brilliantly, and have got the Gap straight work trousers on their way), "crisp" white shirt (Thomas Pink, YEARS old, but still going strong), green Me&Em cardie/jacket, a neon green skinny belt, and leopard print ballet slippers (old from Boden). All topped with a beige Banana Republic mac. Very safe, but I feel quite pulled together.

What do we think to this dress Baukjen? I have the V neck one from Me & Em, and I wear it a lot - at least once a week for work, and sometimes outside work too. I have some of the Baukjen extra long Ts, and they work hard for me, are the dresses as good as Me&Em?

I also think it's time I retired my Boden leopard ballet slippers. I'm finding them harder to keep on my feet, so think they've over-stretched (I have had them for about 4 years though, and they've been resoled several times. They still look fine on the top though, so I hate to replace them, but they're starting to hurt my feet with that toe clench thing you have to do to keep too big ballet slippers on. So. A replacement pair. How do we feel about the scrunchy ballet slippers, do they stay on better? Any recommendations for very comfortable but not too pricey? I want decent quality, but don't want to spend more than about £75 max, I'd say. I LOVE my animal print, but also quite fancy nude with a black toe.

carrie74 Wed 17-Apr-13 09:28:22

Oh goodness, I like these:

LK Bennett Zebra

carrie74 Wed 17-Apr-13 09:34:27

And these, but have become a bit wary of Boden - the last few years the quality doesn't seem to have been as good (which is a pity, as I've always got a lot of the children's clothes from there, but their Ts don't seem to be washing as well as they used to) Boden golden flats. They might be a bit dull too...

I'm wearing Boden ballerinas today, funnily enough, as I hardly ever wear them!

MrsRadicchio Wed 17-Apr-13 11:08:41

Carrie your outfit sounds nice. I like that baukjen dress a lot but have no experience of their stuff. The reviews look positive in the main. Whats the p&p and returns costs? Hate having to pay those when you're not sure if you're going to keep it.

Agree about Boden. I am trying to avoid their stuff but keep getting sucked back in with discount codes etc. Always send stuff back though. I like their boys clothes, bit more interesting and colourful than other places.

I've just made a few purchases from Oxfam online.

All things I have coveted in the shop. I know I've mentioned them before but you only pay for p&p once which is v generous as the items come from different locations and also returns are free, which again I think is v good.

carrie74 Wed 17-Apr-13 11:10:44

Wow Mrs R, great finds!! [scuttles off to Oxfam]

Need to check out the Baukjen del and returns...there's probs a free code knocking around somewhere.

carrie74 Wed 17-Apr-13 11:15:49

Look at these:

[[ Leopard print heeled boots]

Too high for me, but swit swoo!

carrie74 Wed 17-Apr-13 11:16:14
foxysocks Wed 17-Apr-13 11:20:13

baukjen are SHIT on delivery and returns ime. another reason I am loathe to order from them unless I know exactly what i want. watch the fabric content too, they are getting very viscose-happy (and charging silk and cotton prices for it <rant>...)

carrie I like the slipper style more than driving shoes - have you checked out jemima vine? love the neon trimmed flats and the snakeskin ones that amber has.

am also after leopard flats but can't get away from preferring pointed toes. come on Madewell, ship to the UK, you have a captive audience. am not 100% sure on size otherwise I'd get my mate to bring from the US for me next week.

my yellow J crew tee is with courier <squeals>

am on sunglasses mission now I think. oh and white jeans, black tee, chambray shirt, denim jacket. not too much then rofl.

I also want the yellow sports bra top that hopefully linked to, will make my (TOO HARD) yoga practice more palatable I am SURE of it.

Annianni Wed 17-Apr-13 11:58:32

Thanks Pickled, only my bathroom and ds2's bedroom are done and suitable for photos at the moment.
Otherwise you would all laugh at my old lady wallpaper and carpets grin

The Whistles navy jacket came yesterday and it's lovely.

I'm on my way to Selfridges, to try jeans on. I won't be buying any though... But I want to know which ones to look for online, in the sales etc.

Grey lucky dip Hudson's are on their way, so finger's crossed.

And I hope your yellow tee is nice Foxy.

carrie74 Wed 17-Apr-13 12:09:22

Yeah Foxy it's the fabric content I'm concerned about. Me&Em's jersey is such good quality, and although I love the Baukjen long Ts, I don't want a dress in the same fabric. I think I'll hold off.

I love the JV flats and slipper shoes, but given how hard I work my clothes, I'm not sure I'll want to wear them for as long as I have ballerinas...

Can't wait to hear verdict on the yellow T!

What kind of sunnies? I'm still looking out for some cheap (but real) Aviators.

foxysocks Wed 17-Apr-13 12:10:57

dunno really. want big frames! don't think aviators suit me unfortunately, am not edgy enough.

carrie74 Wed 17-Apr-13 12:38:26

FWIW, I found Ralph Lauren brands good for classic, BIG frames. Found some last spring in the sunglasses hut in Bath, they had some great deal on, and I've worn them almost non-stop. My poor red Wayfarers haven't had a look-in for a while.

Hi - I tried that dress before Christmas Carrie and was disappointed, there is quite a lot of fabric to ruche unless you are tall/want to wear it around your knees(I prefer a couple of inches above), it is also thicker than other jersey dresses I own in similar style - I don't have Me&Em but Velvet and Anglomania, the jersey in those clings softly whereas the Baujken one definitely felt like it was trying to hold me in IYKWIM. The blue didn't look as vibrant IRL as it does on the models either, it is more the shade it looks off the model in pics. Try it but if you are unsure on size I would err up rather than down.

Just back from a little trip to take DS1 and a friend to Choccywoccydooda on Carnaby Street, stopped in Liberty for the loo, it was torture not being able to browse grin!

My Tom Ford aviators are in a sorry state, lost a nose grip on hols and one arm is bent outwards so they keep slipping down my face, I need to get them looked at, driving me maad! Foxy SecretSales have RayBans, including aviators, on sale at the moment, may be worth a look?

libertychick Wed 17-Apr-13 12:48:43

Marsha are you still thinking about a nude/pale leather skirt?

Carrie and Foxy there are some great oversize sunnies in & Other Stories

foxysocks Wed 17-Apr-13 12:54:16

That skirt is divine. Will look at sunnies suggestions now, thanks!

carrie74 Wed 17-Apr-13 12:55:47

Thanks sleep, I think I'll give it a miss (and buy another Me&Em in their next sale).

Good tip on secretsales, off to have a look.

Thanks liberty for sunnies link. I'm good for big frames at the mo, so staying good and not looking lol!

That skirt is nice but Christ, the styling is naff! A horse print jumper? Really?

libertychick Wed 17-Apr-13 13:02:10

[Grin] - styling is awful! But I thought Marsha could rock it with her yellows and bubblegum pink!

MarshaBrady Wed 17-Apr-13 13:17:05

Love it Liberty! Thanks! I am going to wait til sales could do with 50% off grin.

I have big Miu Miu graduated purple ones from Liberty. Not new though.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 17-Apr-13 13:49:31

Bans are meant to be broken, MrsR. I'm also on a self-enforced shoe ban but have had my head turned by these (holding out gallantly, though). I did go back and buy the Cos bag just because it's so demure and pretty, unlike any of my other bags. I am waiting on that Evan clutch in orange too, as linked by anni. I ordered it from BR with a hefty discount a good few weeks back, but my Dsis has brought it back from the US for me and, at the moment, her luggage is missing shock. All that after she endured a 14 hour delay to her flight home - I'll bet that was fun with 4 DCs in tow (not). I also received my white Baxters yesterday and love them - a perfect fit and look so good with both pairs of pumps I bought from &Other Stories. Now I just need the sun to come back...

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 17-Apr-13 14:02:03

Love that skirt Liberty, but I can just imagine it defaced by biro or greasy fingerprints. I think I'd keep it in a glass case and gaze.

foxysocks Wed 17-Apr-13 14:38:04

ooo had forgotton about white baxters as an option. might go and try some on tomorrow morning. thanks grumpy

neon tee is here and, erm, a bit bright rofl. the fit and cotton is absolutely lovely but am not sure I'm brave enough to wear it tbh. if I post a couple of pics is anyone willing to give me an opinion?

foxysocks Wed 17-Apr-13 14:53:51

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

MarshaBrady Wed 17-Apr-13 14:57:20

Am flying out door as sr. But yep do it!

Love the Celine too.

carrie74 Wed 17-Apr-13 14:58:51

Can you sling your R&B jacket over top and see how that looks? Can't help but think it's a little harsh against your face.

Love the Celine skirt, BTW, styled beautifully grin

carrie74 Wed 17-Apr-13 15:01:33

Actually, looking at it again, I really like it, it's v zingy. For £12, it's hardly worth returning anyway, and I think it's really fresh.. Keep!

santamarianovella Wed 17-Apr-13 15:03:35

Hi everyone,
I need some opinions,I'm ending my ban next weekgrinand first thing on my list is to find a dress for a wedding in late June, and my inlaws anniversary, so what do you think of this:
or this :

If money was no issue it would be this: wink
I like both the MSGM dresses, but I have no idea what shoes to wear with the navy lace dress, would love to hear your thoughts.

foxysocks Wed 17-Apr-13 15:03:37

i look a bit blobby round the hips and tum <throws out rest of easter choc>

off on school run - you too marsha?! - will leave up till I get back then take em down!

It's exactly the sort of colour I'd wear but I think that shade only works for Autumns/Winters. Hopefully will be better judge...

I'd pick the first MGSM and wear with bright line green shoes.

Annianni Wed 17-Apr-13 15:53:34

I say keep it Foxy, it'll be fab for Summer.
The Goldsign's look great too.

I agree with Amber, Santa.
The first dress is lovely.

I've been shopping again grin
I'll do links later.

Selfridges had some lovely jeans...

MrsRadicchio Wed 17-Apr-13 16:30:56

foxy you are a slip of a thing! No need to bin the chocolate!

I think the t looks nice, but I know what you mean about neon, I feel the same about my gap trousers. I think it looks more muted on screen, in the flesh it is NEON!

Can you see yourself wearing it and what refund would you get if you sent it back?

I think it could work toned down with lots of grey, biker jacket and golsigns. Or I see it on a scorching hot day (dreaming) with white jeans and sandals.

I LOVE the celine skirt!

I also prefer the first dress Santa though I like the shape of the second. I like Amber's suggestion, I would probably be boring and wear something matching the colours of the dress. How about white shoes??

Well, I've ordered these. Can't stop thinking about them (sad) and want to see how they look in the flesh and how they go with things. If not, I may get these as an alternative. I want a comfy go anywhere brogue!

Shoe ban will be back in place after this. I want either a pair of Jalouse of H by Hudson black boots, but will wait until autumn for that.

foxysocks Wed 17-Apr-13 16:36:07

i'll only get £12 if I send it back. i think would wear with all grey like you say MrsR, or with blue jeans and the grey biker and grey/coral kicks, or denim skirt/shorts when it's hot, or white jeans and silver sandals... oh look i've talked myself into it.

santamarianovella Wed 17-Apr-13 17:24:55

thanx everyone,i will go with the first one,i do like the cut of the second dress, but i think its a bit too bright and cheery for my inlaws anniversary in scotland! and amberi like your suggestion, if you own a pair of neon shoes , can you lend megrin.
i do have a white strappy one and a silver one, will take them with me when i go to try on the dress.

MarshaBrady Wed 17-Apr-13 17:36:05

Foxy yes am back now grin. You don't need to bin the choc you look fantastic. Sometimes for small £ amounts I will keep something even if it isn't entirely perfect, ie has to be put on with something else. I do really like it, and think it could look great with grey on grey.

Santa I adore the MSGM first one, would love that, am a big fan of the bright waist or trim.

Love ordering something and feeling like that MrsR.

First MGSM definitely, it is gorgeous, even nicer than the CK IMO.

shopafrolic Wed 17-Apr-13 17:57:47

So on the way to my meeting with another Marketing contact this morning I crashed into the back of someone on a roundabout. I have never been responsible for an accident in my life. No-one hurt, other than a sore wrist and shoulder for me and dented pride and thankfully no damage to the vehicles. But they did try to make a big deal out of it to start with (the female passenger who spoke little English said she was coughing up blood) - I hit them at between 0 and 5mph. She soon stopped the discussion when I asked if she needed medical attention and pointed out the complete lack of damage to either vehicle.
Have had to log it with my insurers just in case.
Rubbish. So I haven't looked at links other than the neon tee which looks a definite keeper Foxy - good news! You look fabulously slim too!
Will try and look at stuff tomorrow when I ache less.
Upshot of the meeting is that I may be about to set up my own company! Eeeek!

Oh poor you Shop . I prang my car on a regular basis and it's so horrid, really shakes you up. My girlfriend just did hers yesterday and is getting it sprayed while her DH away!!!!!how did your DH get on in the final round? Your company set up sounds v exciting!
Marsha if you can't wait until sales there's a 20% off Jaeger voucher in May In Style ( if you want it I can send it to you)
Well, just as I was thinking that I'm just too much of a cheapskate to be on Vogue ( my NYResolution to buy less tat and more investment pieces is not going terribly well...just can't help myself!!) you all started mentioning Oxfam and Foxys fab £12 I'll stay and keep trying.
this arrived today. I paid £34.50 and it's actually quite nice. Thin, but looks ok with bf jeans snore and my black shift dress. No worse quality wise than Zara equivalent.
This week I'm trying not to wear black trousers yawn or denim jeans snore...... Have worn burgundy skinny jeans to work and caramel 7/8 today ( cold anklesgrin)

dry I'm a cheapskate too, I love a good bargain and never pay more than I have to for what I want. My £10 DKNY dress is proof of that grin

I hope you're ok shop even a little prang can be scary

MarshaBrady Wed 17-Apr-13 18:31:22

I go through stages Dry. Splurges and cheapskate. Love a good bargain so £12 tees a plenty here. Love that jacket. Thanks for offer of the Jaeger code, if am in splurge part by then may do it.

Oh no Shop poor you, re the crash. Although congrats on good marketing lunch!

I was in TKMaxx today and there were a couple of Missonni scarves.... They were all synthetic and shiny and thin and horrid really......£30 odd, I just don't get it at all. Am I missing something? Am I too granny for granny fashion?grin

Sorry about your bump Shop, hope the aches go away tomorrow. I have had a few stupid incidents in the car recently that I sorted out but forgot to mention to DH, eg grazing the rear wheel arch of a neighbours parked car whilst squeezing into a space, wrenching off my wing mirror whilst parking too close to a dumpster thing blush

Mango leopard print shorts have arrived, I went for a size 10 but they look miniscule, cannot see how on earth I am going to fit my bum in them. Spain obviously doesn't go in for vanity sizing, I am usually an 8! Also have a customs fee of £37 to pay for the shopbop sweater hmm, so I'm not thrilled.

Found your Shoes santa

Those are gorgeous Amber...alternatively, how about these

See, I'm my own worst enemy because now I want a pair of green pointy courts, somewhere between neon and lime.

santamarianovella Wed 17-Apr-13 19:21:31

thanx marsha and sleep,
i do hope you feel better shop, ice pack on shoulder before it begins to throb.
those will looks fab with the dress amber, love the navy straps.

there is a%20 off code at shopbop, it ends tomorrow if anyone is interested.

Decameron Wed 17-Apr-13 19:59:55

Foxy, you have an amazing figure. The Celine skirt is gorgeous.

Hope you are ok, Shop. I hate roundabouts!

I really like the first dress, Santamarianovella.

My navy Whistles lena blazer arrived, I like it but a little sorry now that I bought it in black, might try to return that one as it is as yet unworn.

Austique have 10% off with the code SPRING10. Very tempted by these as I have been looking for a while for skinny grey jeans. But still very expensive.

libertychick Wed 17-Apr-13 21:31:15

Foxy have you taken down the pics? I can't see them.

MrsR I love the Grensons. Your shoe links also have me sighing over the mid heel JV's too.

Santa another vote here for the first dress.

QueenCadbury Wed 17-Apr-13 21:52:21

Yet again I can't keep up with all!

foxy what the hell are you talking about saying you need to lay off the Easter eggs?? I looked at your photos and was envy of your figure. Obviously being mrs navy/grey here I'm not peronally keen on the neon but if you can pull it off then go for it. I agree it would look fab with white jeans.

santa definitely the 1st dress too. And I do like the heels that amber linked to.

shop hope you're ok. Sounds exciting about your own company.

Sorry if I've missed out anyone else's links. I have the memory of a sieve!!

libertychick Wed 17-Apr-13 22:01:36

Hope you are ok Shop. Good luck with the company set up - pm me if you have any questions - my top tip is find an accountant who will do it all for you!

I was wondering if I could join you, I've been lurking since the avid&wise days but never plucked up the courage had anything interesting enough to contribute. I've just started pining my wardrobe and looks to try and am now addicted to Pinterest too, so thought now might be time to join in.

I'm currently hunting for a dress for a christening,I'm trying to convince my husband that as its our cotton anniversary this year he should buy me a DVF...... Not getting any where with that just yet!!!!

QueenCadbury Wed 17-Apr-13 22:13:42

Welcome mrssheep. Let's have a look at the dvf dress you want...

libertychick Wed 17-Apr-13 22:17:06

Welcome MrsSheep! I am just off to bed but provide some guidelines ie budget, body shape. preferred colours and always happy to have an excuse to look for a dress!

DVFs are generally silk MrsSheep, but we won't tell him ;)

I believe I'm due leather this year... The possibilities!

QueenCadbury Wed 17-Apr-13 22:23:30

Just checked mine and I'm due copper hmm. Would prefer leather. Although I guess technically he owes me...

santamarianovella Wed 17-Apr-13 22:29:29

1st one it is, thanx everyone.will go to harvey on sunday as its sold out in my size at matches.i love the neon manolos.
to be honest its the anniversary that i dread the most,i havent seen DH extended family in almost 2 years, and im still referred to as a foreigner cause i have difficulty understanding them!
so i want to look smashinggrin ,and i do need to wear high high heels as everyone is taller than me and i look like a little girl standing next to them.angry

16 doesn't appear to have one so I'm going to yell him it's brik as I want an extension grin....or is it car?wink
Hello MrsSheep

"Tell" "brick" bloody p text!

Thanks for the replies, I using artistic license on the "cotton" bit Amber smile if you can find me a nice cotton dress that's fine, but for some reason I've got my heart set on DVF smile the wrap shape doesn't do anything for my body shape so I was thinking:

Zarita in nude

Akoni don't think ill get the budget for this though!!

My style is classic and I am what colour me beautiful now call "light, soft and warm" which I think is spring. Mostly I seem to wear, navy, coral, cream but am now hooked on mint for spring and can't seem to get enough of it!

I've wasted a whole evening on YouTube trying to find new ways to style my curly hair, I am still none the wiser, so back to wash and go again tomorrow!

shopafrolic Thu 18-Apr-13 07:54:04

Morning all - I'm never sure with anniversaries - I read ours this year (4yrs) as leather - DH read it as flowers & food confused

I think I would prefer flowers and food to leather. Then again, I'm a fatty who loves a good bit of cake grin

Yes 3rd is leather traditionally, 4th is flowers. I think they front load the good stuff (paper = a cheque, cotton = clothes etc.) then it's years of copper and tin type shite til you get on to the jewels.

Hopefully Thu 18-Apr-13 08:21:40

According to wikipedia I'm up for either cotton or paper this year. Hmmm.

Gorgeous day here today, it's making me feel positively spring-like!

QueenCadbury Thu 18-Apr-13 08:22:12

I put these on for the 1stntime today. Dh was shock saying that I can't wear those as they're all ripped. If you think I'm conservative with clothing choices he's worse! For me I feel ever so slightly rock n roll as I've got them rolled up with grey ankle boots.

mrssheep love the lace dress especially in navy. That's the kind of thing I'd wear for my 40th later in the year. If blush suits though it would look amazing.

I've managed to lose 7lbs this week. Hurrah. Ok so most of it was premenstrual water retention but even so by cutting back on the chocolate and eating sensibly I am very happy!

shopafrolic Thu 18-Apr-13 08:39:56

No link QueenC?

Morning, thanks Queen I love it in the navy too, since having my colours done I no longer wear black, but I have replaced it with navy so am trying to add a bit more variety! Thanks for the Pinterest follow too.

I have a bargainous gap order arriving today, i'll link to anything good as I think they have had further reductions today.

I was planning to revolve today's outfit around my brogues but it is very grey and miserable here so back to the just thrown on look with ankle boots for the preshool run.

foxysocks Thu 18-Apr-13 08:50:29

yes liberty I took them down, they got lots of views v quickly which freaked me out a bit. sorry you missed them and thanks to everyone saying nice things flowers.

i actually LOVE the tee this morning, might wear today with rolled up distressed jeans and grey biker, the sun is out! am still slobbing in yoga clothes as DH not working till later so he has done school/nursery runs.

we are rubbish at anniversary stuff. I think this is yr 6, or is it 7?

how does everyone store winter clothes? in bags under bed or similar - do I need to get moth repellent or anything for the cashmere (never owned cashmere before!)

Annianni Thu 18-Apr-13 09:36:18

Hope you're feeling ok today Shop, even little prangs can be scary.

Those jeans are lovely Decam, but too £££.

I started putting my Winter clothes away yesterday Foxy
I put them in those plastic boxes on wheels that b&q sell.
I want some more lavender thingies to put in with them.

My no-spending till next month lasted long grin

I saw some beautiful jeans in Selfridges yesterday.
I tried these Goldsign but they didn't do me any favours.

I wanted to try these Paige Jimmy Jimmys but they didn't have my size.

Hudson May are fab, and I want some, but cheaper... obviously grin

I tried some other Hudson skinnys, and they had some beautiful Hudson bacaras but again, not in my size sad
And there were some fab Goldsign that looked similar to the bacaras.

The price tickets looked like they had phone numbers on them, instead of prices though!

I love the look of these but not the low rise bit.
So I got these instead for £24-99 and I want to shorten them slightly. They look great rolled up, and the denim is very soft. And I managed to squeeze my arse into a smaller size than usual, so the diet's still working.

I also got this grey tee
And a neon coral version of this I wear the navy one lots, and the coral looks similar to the Whistles one I tried on Monday.

carrie74 Thu 18-Apr-13 09:39:25

Huh, it's our 10th this year. Tin, according to Wikipedia (although I think I prefer the modern version of diamond jewellery grin). As per, we'll be ignoring actual presents, but we are jetting off to Lisbon for a long (child-free wine) weekend.

QueenC like the sound of your rock chick look smile

Sheep looking forward to details of your Gap order. Mine came yesterday. What I actually needed was a pair of straight black decent quality work trousers, but they only had the (US) 4 left. I'm a 4/6 in Gap, so hoped for the best, but sadly, they're going back. Customer service good, I called to see if there was any chance of an exchange, but nope, all gone sad. I do still have pants for both kids, and some cute bedtime leggings for me hmm.

santamarianovella Thu 18-Apr-13 09:41:17

morning all,
hi mrssheep the lace one is lovely.
foxyi read on the frugality blog good tips on storing winter clothes,i bought the lakeland zipper bags for knitwear and scarves, and i have one of those big storage boxes,so will store them in it.coats and jackets will go in garments bags.
regarding the cashmere,i wrap them in tissue papers(i never throw them!)and store them in shoe bags,i never used moth repellent, but i read that cedar is good for protecting cashmere.there are cashmere protecter bags in white company but too pricy ,26 quid!

Annianni Thu 18-Apr-13 09:45:40

Now, I need everyone to say a little prayer for me... as i've bought a version of these Goldsign off ebay. But they are coming from America, so there's no point trying to return them. The postage has cost me the same amount as the jeans did grin

Also got something similar to these from ebay for a bargainous £8-01

I'm wearing a version of this today, with my Hudson Gia skinnys, the grey Gap tee I got yesterday and the FC navy cotton cardi. Feel quite nice.
Pity i'm not going anywhere, apart from school.

MarshaBrady Thu 18-Apr-13 09:47:19

That sounds lovely Carrie. We want to do Miami one year, we are not great at anniversary stuff either.

Anni lovely Gap jeans and tops.

Welcome Sheep. I like the lace one.

Am in heaven. After 4 weeks or so of school holidays all the dc (well two) are out. Silence is golden. <bliss>

Annianni Thu 18-Apr-13 09:47:21

Well done on the weight loss QueenC

And welcome Sheep, love the lace dress.

QueenCadbury Thu 18-Apr-13 09:49:29

Oops,forgot to link jeans

Hi mrssheep the lace one would be my first choice too, especially if your style is classic. Its more sophisticated than the other two IMO, though I can see why you are tempted by the green one smile.

I did just about squeeze into the Mango shorts and although they were only £28 I think they will look good with a white linen tee and a white blazer (which I am on the hunt for) - and, most importantly, brown legs grin.

Do you guys usually pay customs fees to UPS for shopbop orders or do you do the payment direct to shopbop when you checkout? Presumably if you return things you get the customs fee back from shopbop, or do you have to claim separately? confused

Foxy get some cedar balls to throw in with your cashmere.

MarshaBrady Thu 18-Apr-13 09:50:16

Foxy re winter stuff I put hanging things in zipped up protective clothes things and will wrap cashmere up in tissue with cedar wooden balls and lavender scattered around. I probably won't put away the jumpers for ages, if at all.

Also you can put your pics on your profile and list your 'mn mates' in that section if too freaky to have ready to see links on here.

MarshaBrady Thu 18-Apr-13 09:51:26

Anni love the Goldsign straight ones. They are gorgeous hope they are good.

Sleep well done on Mango shorts, haven't tried them but have heard they are tiny!

I've made a bad choice today - no tights. Am freezing. Will mercy dash to Boots at lunch!

Am wearing:
Faux leather midi skirt - charity shop so we'll call it vintage
Grey silk trimmed crew neck tee - Banana Republic
Black cashmere mix crew neck cardi (worn open) - Whistles
Snake print flats - Jemima Vine
Gold fox head necklace - Mulberry
Green mini Gracie - Anya

Like the outfit but am freezing!

Am excited at the opportunity to rifle through Other stories, Cos, BR etc at weekend. Also going to an extremely glamourous blogging event wink

QueenCadbury Thu 18-Apr-13 09:54:39

anni just saw that you've bought the same jeans as I've got on today. As you say they are lovely and soft even if dh thinks I look a scruff bag! I've been wondering too about getting them shortened as I love the length of these

santamarianovella Thu 18-Apr-13 10:06:00

sleep i usually pay when i checkout,i have not returned anything.they send the fees back to my card in a month or so,they have lovely things and cheaper than uk but its the shipping and import duties that ruin it.
have you tried revolve clothing?i ordered with them in feb,and i paid much less in shipping and no import fee,but its usps so it takes around a week to arrive.

foxysocks Thu 18-Apr-13 10:40:27

sleep i always pay taxes direct to shopbop. there is usually a mini refund a few months later back onto my card, just a couple of ££.

my j crew exp this week has taught me that under a certain amount there are no import fees. was cheaper to buy one tee than two, despite shipping.

thanks for storage info. i actually only have winter coats and a few hats/scarves to put away, I'll just leave the knitwear in the drawer I think, it doesn't take up much space and i have another drawer for tees/ls tops

decided against neon today it's a bit brrr. olive cashmere over charcoal boyf tee with indigo skinnies, but i might switch to grey skinnies. not sure olive/indigo working for me.

queenc they're aren't scruffy! lol at your DH. my DH is the opp of conservative, he had leopard print hair for all of his uni days. our more trad friends were appalled rofl.

amber brave! am not ready to loose the socks, nevermind go bare legged.

good tip on the pics, thanks marsha, will def do that next time i need some MNV opinions. x

Annianni Thu 18-Apr-13 10:46:57

I'll try the jeans again later QueenC, but I think I want to take a couple of inches off the length, so they're above my ankle when rolled up a couple of times.

The tan leather Gap bag was fab yesterday and I'd decided to get a yellow one for Summer but they had none left.

If anyone decides they don't want their navy one anymore, I'll happily buy it off you.

Not really a wearer of socks. Only wear with boots in depths of winter.

Decameron Thu 18-Apr-13 11:23:24

Lovely jeans, Anni. I have the Goldsign misfit which are great. Yes, I will wait for the sales for the grey Goldsign. Although like your Hudson ones a lot too.

I always pay the customs charge direct to Shopbop and they refund if there is a difference. I don't think they refund you the customs charge if you change your mind and return, unless there is a problem with the item.

Our anniversary this year (13th) is lace or textiles, which works for me!

I like the first lace dress a lot, Sheep.

My friend in the US has offered to forward on a Coach bag. Saw these on sale: satchel and this, but not sure about the neon yellow as I don't wear that colour. Also like it in the watermelon but not sure it is too bright? What do you think?

Decameron Thu 18-Apr-13 11:24:43

Foxy, I use those protector bags, I bought a few from Pure Collection, they often have 25% off.

Annianni Thu 18-Apr-13 13:23:55

I like the second bag Decam, both colours.
Have you got any other navy bags?
Or anything similar to the watermelon?

Decameron Thu 18-Apr-13 13:33:52

No I have a navy/watermelon bag shaped gap in my wardrobe! Other bags are tan, red and black. I'm tempted. Very tempted.

Thanks all, does anyone know how DVF sizing comes up? I would like to order from shopbop if I can as much cheaper but don't want to have to order a selection of sizes. I have a top in a US4 and its slightly roomy but I am smaller on top.

Decam I've just come back from the states and really liked the satchel you linked to it citrine/parchment, it's lovely, didn't see the other one though. I was tempted on a coach bag but bought this instead, adding to my mint fetish!!!

QueenCadbury Thu 18-Apr-13 13:44:53

Dec do it, I love both of them. I've never seen a coach irl but I really like them.

anni I'm deffo going to get the destructed jeans shortened too once the weather warms up. They're fine now with boots but will be too long with sandals. Like you I want them just above the ankle.

My oasisbag has just arrived and I love the colour but not quite sure it's big enough. Need to see whether I can fit nappies in it before I decide whether to keep. But it is leather and considering I got it for £30 it's a bargain (and obviously nicer than my 6 quid primark one).

This also slipped into my basket and although I love it online I'm just not sure it works irl. Maybe it's just because I'm not used to seeing me in patterns.

amber if it's as blustery in London as it is in Bristol you much be freezing bless you.

QueenCadbury Thu 18-Apr-13 13:45:40

Ooh sheep that's divine.

I think DVF sizing is slightly on the generous side, is there somewhere else you could try the dresses before ordering from the US though Sheep?

Love the Coach bag Decam. I like both colours <unhelpful>. Not so mad on the satchel.

Pretty cardigan Queen

Decameron Thu 18-Apr-13 13:55:01

Love the bags, Queen (and the cardigan too) and Sheep.

I find DVF on the generous side too.

Thanks, think I prefer second shape, the satchel is a bit fussy.

Annianni Thu 18-Apr-13 14:04:27

My 1st pair of grey Hudson's are here and they are going straight back on ebay.

They are low rise and very flared.
Was hoping they'd be like my beth's.

Finger's crossed for the Goldsign and the skinny Hudson's now.

Annianni Thu 18-Apr-13 14:05:57

Not keen on the satchel either Decam
Are you still after the blue Prada?

If yes, get the watermelon... it'd be lovely for Summer.

Annianni Thu 18-Apr-13 14:07:08

Pretty bag Sheep.

Are you on pin?

Decameron Thu 18-Apr-13 14:17:50

Shame about the jeans, Anni, but hopefully you'll sell them for more than you bought them.

I am still keen on the blue Prada (if it turns up in Bicester, can't pay full whack!) so leaning towards the watermelon. Also, just remembered that a mother of a child in DD1's class has the blue/yellow bag. I don't want to turn up with it and be like a stalker!

shopafrolic Thu 18-Apr-13 15:07:51

Hi all - super busy trying to get company stuff set up so only waving.
Good outfit QueenC tell your DH I too am scruffy today! smile
Will look at links later if poss but may not be around for a while - can't keep work and fashion heads on it seems!
Shoulder still sore today but not as bad as yesterday.
Sheep and Sleep could get me very confused!! Welcome MrsSheep - gorgeous lace dress and loved the neon shoes being linked
I am in my yellow neon M&S tee today with grey Whistles quilted sweat, 7FAM boyfriendalikes and Hudsons.
Liberty I've PM'd you...
