All welcome to talk style and beauty

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 12:08:33

Coo eee over here. The excitement of the AR sale filled up the thread!

carrie74 Wed 20-Mar-13 12:10:10

Thanks you! Loads of pretty things! I fancy the shoes Marsha posted, and the Petit Bateau navy cable jumper...

winefairy Wed 20-Mar-13 12:11:03

Sorry shop I filled up the last thread before anyone could link to a new one. Was giddy about sale blush

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 12:11:09

I liked that jumper too Carrie - buy it on my behalf so I know someone will have it.....

winefairy Wed 20-Mar-13 12:12:46

And remember 'SHARE2013' gets a further £20 off for those who don't already have an account.

MarshaBrady Wed 20-Mar-13 12:16:20

Carrie selling out fast, good if you're a 37 or 39.

Damn I set up an account, could have got them for £5!

I was too excited too, thanks Shop.

winefairy Wed 20-Mar-13 12:20:01

You should call them Marsha. They will honour it, I'm sure.

winefairy Wed 20-Mar-13 12:20:36

Oops, forgot. Had to be over £50. Hence the two tops.

MarshaBrady Wed 20-Mar-13 12:24:16

oh yes over £50 thanks just seeing if can add something.

carrie74 Wed 20-Mar-13 12:42:03

Mmmmm, SO tempted, but I think I'll wait. We leave for Florida tomorrow, and I know I'm going to spend loads over there (or maybe not with the ER as it is at the moment - $1.47 weep).

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 12:46:05

Good call Carrie - have an amazing time!

foxysocks Wed 20-Mar-13 12:57:02

raah just went to order those marsha and they sold out! they look lovely, but i think now the ebay ones didn't work out (have requested full refund by the way, as totes not as described) I think I want some pointed ones like this pin

pinterest.com/pin/250231323018256275/

any ideas?

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 13:03:20

Marsha found those last night foxy on the previous thread from a US site but unclear if they ship to the UK....

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 13:04:34
QueenCadbury Wed 20-Mar-13 13:08:20

Aargh, I can't keep up with you lot! I'd just got my head round thinking about what to save in a fire and now you're way past that and on a new thread!!

Not sure I'd bother saving any clothes as it could pretty much all be replaced but I'd definitely save my charm bracelet, a necklace that dh bought me the first Christmas we were together and I wore it on our wedding day and the diamond bracelet that he bought me as a wedding present (I never take wedding, engagement and eternity rings off so would have those with me).

carrie have a fab time in Florida. Can't wait to hear about all your purchases!

QueenCadbury Wed 20-Mar-13 13:12:17

For foxy shoes

Meant to say a late summer meet up would be good as I can't make this one.

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 13:13:05

Good choices QueenC - it is a bit swift here isn't it! smile

winefairy Wed 20-Mar-13 13:28:28

No, I don't think Madewell do ship to the Uk sadly. Those shoes are gorgeous!

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 13:33:36

I emailed Madewell and this is their reply:

Thank you for your interest in Madewell—we’ll certainly forward your feedback to our team. At this time, we are able to ship to the United States, Canada, and Japan. If you have an address within one of these locations, we will be more than happy to ship your order directly.

You can also try www.shopbop.com where you can select Madewell styles that ship worldwide. If you are interested in seeing the items that are available for international shipping, please use the following link:

foxysocks Wed 20-Mar-13 13:36:41

wow thanks for all the responses. gah if I was SURE of my size I could get someone to bring them back with me this week, but i'm not. they are divine, I must have them somehow someway

these are nice too

www.shopbop.com/patent-sidewalk-skimmer-madewell/vp/v=1/845524441961920.htm?folderID=2534374302162451&fm=other-shopbysize-viewall&colorId=46137

MarshaBrady Wed 20-Mar-13 13:47:16

I know I love those leopard ones. Really want to find a way to order them, wish they would put them on ShopBop.

I really like the patent ones too Foxy.

Dang on Whistles, will let everyone know if not good. (size 40)

foxysocks Wed 20-Mar-13 13:55:45

I'm a 38/39 (but 37 in ash jalouse... go figure!) but thanks marsha

I need those shoes! how are we going to get them? we need a plan, there must be a way.

carrie I'm going to Florida Easter Sat!!!! Will you still be there? Disney? Should we wear the MN scarf as a sign???grin

foxysocks Wed 20-Mar-13 14:16:25

ebay seller has agreed to full refund, thankfully. I am really put off buying on there now!

MarshaBrady Wed 20-Mar-13 14:20:52

Carrie have a fabulous time.

Good news Foxy would put me off too. I hardly ever ebay, just one thing so far, but only do stuff that really is in good condition and only worn a couple of times, that just isn't right.

Hmm Madewell, <waves to people in the shop> Also their sales thing just changed, it was 20% off everything I'm sure, now it's 25% over $125. Must have expired.

carrie74 Wed 20-Mar-13 14:28:36

Drywhite MNV meet at Disney!!!

Actually, we're only in Orlando for 3 days, get there on Saturday night (23rd), and leave on the Tuesday for the Gulf Coast.

I was only going to take one scarf for travelling in...shall I take the MN scarf just in case? wink

carrie74 Wed 20-Mar-13 14:29:46

And thank you for all the good wishes, can't wait to get there now!

Foxy, that's a PITA about ebay, hate it when sellers are economical with the truth. At least you're getting a full refund, but it's such an inconvenience.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 20-Mar-13 14:38:47

Thanks for the Atterley Rd heads up (and code). Just availed myself of these. £59 plus free P&P with code!

MarshaBrady Wed 20-Mar-13 14:58:36

Thanks so much for code Wine.

I just got cotton t.

And bright sweater. Thought could be good with the navy gryphon. Although sleeves may be a problem.
All for £34 which seemed quite bargainous. I couldn't add it on the other order, but free delivery so that's ok.

Great cords Grumpy.

maybemyrtle Wed 20-Mar-13 16:53:25

Long-time lurker de-lurking...

So I am easily led (she types in a cable-sleeved cashmere jumper from the outnet...) and have been trying on lots of premium denim jeans in TK Maxx that I usually ignore because I'd never heard of them before. In your collective opinion are any brands that are generally better/worse for diff body types? I am a size 10-12ish pear. Not sure if I'm trying the wrong sizes or brands or am just too thighful for skinnies these days.

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 17:00:02

Welcome Maybe the jeans clinic pages on the Dona Ida site have been helpful for some I think.
http://www.donnaida.com/denim-clinic.html
Don't buy full price from there. If you find a brand you like the look of, try it on and then head back here to ask if anyone has seen it any cheaper. Everyone here is fab at bargain hunting! I think my local designer denim store is getting fed up of me trying but not buying!
The key I think is denim with lots of stretch. My high rise J Brand Sashas are super stretchy and it makes a big difference.
What jeans fit you at the moment?

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 17:00:35
QueenCadbury Wed 20-Mar-13 17:10:13

Jones have 10% off full priced stuff at the moment (summersave10) I used to love their shoes but just looked and there's nothing that floats my boat at the moment. They do have converse though so may help someone.

maybemyrtle Wed 20-Mar-13 17:15:47

Oooh thank you Shop, I'll have a look.

Yes, stretch - thinking about it that does make a difference! Currently switching between old Topshop Marthas, Baxters (both 28) and Uniqlo skinny straight (27). None are perfect. I may be hoping for miracles from the premium stuff though...

I'm impersonating badly her today in my Gap £12 mint crew neck.........bit chilly despite Uniqlo hitch vest, ballet flats and no socks even though its snowing!!!! I WILL dress for spring!!!
Yesterday I was her but not so gamine/ skinny/tall....Pinterest is inspiring me!!!

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 18:15:56

Loving the looks Drywhite although you're very brave in this weather!

Annianni Wed 20-Mar-13 18:37:26

I wore Hudson bootcuts today, with a sleeveless white tee, grey Whistles leni jacket, sliver studded Sam E ballet pumps and a white & cobalt Gap leopard scarf.
Dh thought I was bonkers going out like that but said I looked really nice.

I got some bargains in the Gap sale, the mesh sleeved sweater in cobalt and red. And a plain slouchy tee in white and fuchsia (not sale but cheap enough anyway)
The mesh sweater is only £15 instore, but £20 ish online.

I think/hope the red sweater will look nice with the mnv peacoat Marsha.
I'll have a try on tomorrow and see.

It's too cold here to wear it yet though.
Think i'll be back in my parka tomorrow <sob>

Great sales shopping ladies, very impressed grin

Hope you feel better soon Shop.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 20-Mar-13 18:44:00

Hi myrtle, I will say what I always say when denim is mention - Goldsign high rise Virtual. The best jeans ever (back me up foxy). They work well on hourglass me, so no reason they wouldn't work on a pear.

Thinking of doing smash and grab run on &other stories tomorrow lunch time....

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 20-Mar-13 19:13:39

I've just made my 3rd &other stories order in a week. They keep getting more new bits in and tempting me (and what with the free delivery and returns...)
Amongst other things, bought these little beauties
I think I may have found my spiritual home.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 20-Mar-13 19:17:10
winefairy Wed 20-Mar-13 19:31:59

Catch up.......

carrie Have a lovely time in Florida.

foxy Good news about the refund and I wouldn't let it put you off. Ebay is mostly fine but totally understand how you feel.

Grumpy and Marsha adore your purchases! I had to do a smash and grab as was heading out but wanted to spend the £20 off. And Marsha I agree the Hobbs sweater will go perfectly with the peacoat. Great choice. <sobs>

Anni Fantastic outfit today. Can picture it so well! Especially if I look in my wardrobe wink

Drywhite I love that first pin. She looks so very fabulous. Snowing here too though.

myrtle I never find TK Maxx great for jeans unless you know what may have a chance of fitting before you go in. Have taken in arm loads in the past only to end up weeping! grin Shop and Amber have both given you great advice, as always, though. <makes mental note to try Amber's Goldsign>

shop Hope you are feeling better today and antib's are helping.

QueenC Late summer meet up would be fantastic. Glad you are on board too!

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 19:32:15

Amber if you do, and you happen to notice, can you tell me if they have this?
pinterest.com/pin/122230577358926982/

foxysocks Wed 20-Mar-13 19:33:16

amber's right myrtle, the virtual high rise are ah-may-zing. i'm a diff shape to you both and they work on me although are ankle skimmers rather than super long. I have them in dark indigo and grey now, love em. donna ida have some on sale for £132 which is pretty good discount on the £270 FP tag

think I've gone cross-eyed from googling pointed leopard flats. still no joy.

foxysocks Wed 20-Mar-13 19:34:40

looks like I'll have a day shopping in london sans children soon, whoop! shall I head to kings road? i did enjoy westfield last time but fancy something different

maybemyrtle Wed 20-Mar-13 19:38:33

Thanks for jeans recs. It's a bit of a step change to premium isn't it!

I'm glad & Other Stories have come up though, I popped in last week and was pleasantly surprised but it is hit & miss. Came away with this www.stories.com/Ready-to-wear/Dresses/Tank_dress/582938-548880.1 in the printed version which is LOVELY on...also tried on the denim button up skater-ish dress that's disappeared from the website but was really fab quality. Popping in tomorrow so hopefully it'll be back in stock.

maybemyrtle Wed 20-Mar-13 19:40:36

ps I really really want to at least try on the Virtuals now. See, easily led. blush

maybemyrtle Wed 20-Mar-13 19:42:35

sorry... this is the dress that looks pretty bla but I fell for www.stories.com/Ready-to-wear/Shirt_dress/582772-573844.1

Oh man, I've got that wash already, but I'm seriously thinking of getting a spare pair at that price...

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 20:18:30

What wash? What price? I've missed something.....

foxysocks Wed 20-Mar-13 20:18:37

haha, ditto! mine were about that price from shopbop a month ago but due to exchange rate crazies they are now faaaar more from the US.

foxysocks Wed 20-Mar-13 20:19:03

goldsign virtuals in owena, shop

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 20:21:20

Owena? Seriously I must have missed a page. What's owena?

foxysocks Wed 20-Mar-13 20:25:27

owena is the wash, sorry! hang on will link...

foxysocks Wed 20-Mar-13 20:26:22

www.donnaida.com/sale/goldsign-virtual-skinny-jean.html

oh thank god they've sold out in my size, have just saved myself £132 lol

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 20:32:14

Aha!

QueenCadbury Wed 20-Mar-13 20:45:57

I'm not sure whether to blame you lot or Pinterest but I've become obsessed with yellow especially paired with grey or navy.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 20-Mar-13 20:59:31

I know what you mean Queen. I've a pair of acid yellow ankle grazers bought at the end of the summer in Hollister of all places and they're gorgeous. I'd fancied some I'd seen in the Kooples and saw these - very similar but for a fraction of the price. I've now added the Stories sleeveless top and BR yellow skirt. Really feeling it this year. Maybe it's something to do with the lousy weather and a longing for sunshine.
foxy how dare you tempt me with those Goldsign Virtuals. They still have my size but I'm studiously ignoring them. My resolve is being tested yet again.

Honestly, I can't stress enough how brilliant those Goldsigns are. If you're in the market for jeans, do it!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 20-Mar-13 21:36:13

Trouble is, I'm not in the market for any more jeans. They would definitely be surplus to requirements, but they look so good!
<Backing away from the Goldsigns>

No, all your other jeans would be surplus to Rees <voice of experience>

noviceoftheday Wed 20-Mar-13 21:46:39

Evening all! <Waves. Knackered>

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 20-Mar-13 21:51:36

Amber you are very bad. I can't back away, there's no denying it.
I'm going to leave it until tomorrow. If they still have my size, it's fate.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Wed 20-Mar-13 21:57:02

Evening novice smile

shopafrolic Wed 20-Mar-13 22:02:32

Grumpy get yourself over to the Frugal thread for a strong talking to! grin

libertychick Wed 20-Mar-13 22:05:49

<Tired wave from me too>
Goldsigns v tempting but I need black jeans...
Amber how weird, I have just been looking at tomorrow's work diary to see if I could fit in a whirlwind run around &other stories too...don't think I can though unless some meetings finish early which NEVER happens - have fun!

FrugalFashionista Thu 21-Mar-13 09:59:15

Stay strong Liberty! wink
This thread is going so fast I can't keep up <wheeze>
I'm a bit worried about investing in skinnies atm. Usually when they start doing colored variants of a staple it means a trend is about to die. Remember Uggs and Pistols? (Next in line: the biker jacket? - it's supposed to be cream now, no?)
I'd like to have a pair if white jeans for summer but am sick and tired of the skinnies+flats combo and unsure what the reigning summer street style will be this year <cloudy crystal ball>
Have been seeing a lot of yellow - can wear pale lemon yellow, very tempted!

foxysocks Thu 21-Mar-13 11:34:10

frugal you obv live in a more fashion forward area than I do. many of my fellow school run mums are still wearing their bootcuts from the 90s having bypassed skinnies completely....

I also love yellow but due to budgetary constraints am allowing myself one yellow piece for SS. it will either be a top or a scarf, and there are a couple of contenders but no outright winner yet!

still obsessing over pointed flats here (she says, with rain lashing down at the windows?

Hi everyone, wow you are moving fast! Each time I come on to catch up and say hi in the last few days I run out of time before getting to the last post grin..

...thanks for the DonnIda link whoever provided it, I have just ordered the Goldsigns and also Current Elliots to try. Have also just used the 20% Boden code someone provided on another thread (j238 iirc) to order some summer stuff for the DC's.

Love your yellow top Marsha - I'm still not sure if I could wear that colour but will try soon. Gold flats very lovely too Grumpy (think it was you that linked)

I am rushing back to Whistles with my returns today but realised I am on day 15 due to flu fog over last week or two..anyone know how strict they are with the 14 day returns policy confused?

Annianni Thu 21-Mar-13 12:48:07

I don't know Sleep, sorry.
When I worked in retail, we would give a credit note in those circumstances.
Good luck.

Foxy, like you i'm on a budget.
So i've just spent a whole £8 on a yellow French Connection belt from asos.
To be hopefully worn with jeans, and grey tops.

Somebody keeps pinning grey and yellow, and i've had to join in grin

QueenCadbury Thu 21-Mar-13 13:27:09

Sorry anni that may be me with the yellow and grey!!

I don't think I've ever worn yellow in my whole life (I don't even remember anything as a child) so I'm not sure where my latest obsession has come from. I'm waiting till I have my colours done and see whether yellow is in my palette or not before buying anything.

frugal I agree with foxy. The streets of Rome are much more fashion forward than the streets of Bristol.

As pistols are the fastest selling item on My-Wardrobe I don't think they're about to die a death, likewise skinnies. Anyhow, skinnies suit my aesthetic. I'm not really your Ali McGraw Love Story type. Style is about having the confidence to wear what you like and know suits you - ain't nobody getting me into leather dungarees, however 'on trend' they may be.

santamarianovella Thu 21-Mar-13 14:19:43

im having difficulty keeping up!, SHOP sorry for not responding in the previous thread, yes im fairly new here, have been an avid follower to all mnv threads, and finally found the courage to join you all.i do hope you feel better.

Decameron Thu 21-Mar-13 14:49:17

I love my pistols and skinny jeans, won't be giving them up any time soon.

Have a great holiday, Dauphin.

Hi Santamarianovella.

Hope you are feeling better, Shop.

Those jeans look good, Sleep.

What do you think of these Gigis? Does the pink, gold and zebra work together? I have a certificate for £25 for My-Wardrobe and want to spend it!

Got to collect DD1, back later.

foxysocks Thu 21-Mar-13 14:50:51

i don't love them tbh anni. what about those earrings amber featured on her blog?

www.my-wardrobe.com/mfp-mariafrancescapepe/silver-studded-hoops-435857

shopafrolic Thu 21-Mar-13 15:52:01

Waves again to santamaria
I'm not a huge fan of GiGis Decam not great for my huge feet but I know I'm fairly alone in that! <Whispers> you don't have to spend the voucher if there's nothing you need. <Waits to be kicked off thread>

Off out for a dinner party tonight that can't be avoided although I still feel like death. Hoping to keep warm in Joseph straight leg black trousers, black Whistles tee and AV grey marl blazer with an oversized necklace and LKB black shoe boots with gold toe caps. I'm hoping that some bright red lipstick will detract from just how rubbish I look!!

Am also firmly in the Amber camp and will be wearing skinnies for a long while yet!

Decameron Thu 21-Mar-13 16:15:22

I'm hiding in the kitchen studying the Gigis again, I have my neighbour's kids over and they are all running around like mad things! I don't think I like the colour way as much as the cobalt ones. I'd also like these, at least I could wear them now!

Well the outfit sounds good, Shop, hope you feel better soon and have a good night.

shopafrolic Thu 21-Mar-13 16:19:17

I like those Decameron - can't imagine a time when tanned feet will be on show! Soooo cold!

Annianni Thu 21-Mar-13 17:54:16

I'd get the Ash for now Decameron.
The cobalt gigi's are lovely, nicer than those zebra ones imo.

I think I've seen the zebra with red on my travels and they did look tempting.

Annianni Thu 21-Mar-13 17:55:15

Hope you have a good night Shop, lovely outfit.

Annianni Thu 21-Mar-13 17:57:23

It's ok QueenC, I used to wear yellow when I was young and tanned all the time.
Think a belt is enough for me at the moment though.

MarshaBrady Thu 21-Mar-13 18:41:11

Have had a day out, on trains of all things, to see a friend. Am beat! Very nice to be home.

But I love the Goldsigns and am seriously contemplating.

I am a big fan of skinnies and pistols, although two times for the pistols is probably enough. They are a good height for everyday wear.

Shop I got your pm, how exciting! Looking forward to it smile.

Ok need to catch up properly.

May have sort of bought a neon yellow parka...

Pseudonymity Thu 21-Mar-13 18:54:11

Leather dungarees Amber grin Some things are best left on the fashion pages aren't they? Lots of things on a photoshoot just would not work in life, no matter who you are, how young you are or what you look like. Hence the popularity of street style blogs etc.

Maybe it's a good question: what things are best left on the fashion pages? Leather dungarees have to be way up there. Also, things like knitted pairs of knickers and vests worn with heels - the whole underwear as outerwear trend that comes round every few years.

Pseudonymity Thu 21-Mar-13 18:55:50

Like neon and parkas, sounds good. Link?

MarshaBrady Thu 21-Mar-13 18:56:09

Spill the neon beans Amber.

Ok Pseud good one, will ponder.

MrsRadicchio Thu 21-Mar-13 19:23:55

I can't keep up either! Decam I also second (third?) buying the ash trainers. I'm not so keen on the Gigi's but just cause I like a more covered up sandal!

Shop, your outfit sounds fab tho sorry to hear you are still under the weather.

Amber, please share, would love to hear what you plan on wearing it with.

Marsha, day out seeing a friend sounds good.

and thanks to wine for atterley discount, bought a whistles Breton tunic I had been stalking for £35. Can't link as on phone.

I love yellow, not sure if I suit it or not tho do have some in my wardrobe. I have pinned a yellow and grey fahri jumper from atterley road but think it may have sold out. Love that colour combination.

Decameron Thu 21-Mar-13 19:27:09

Cool parka, Amber.

The Ash trainers it is.

I like yellow but can only wear a pale yellow.

Going out to a friends and wearing this outfit, well that Novalee top and a very old black wool jacket that is quite similar. Luckily just going to a friend's down the road so won't freeze.

Have good evenings, all!

Decameron Thu 21-Mar-13 19:27:26

Oh and Paige skinny jeans too!

justasecond Thu 21-Mar-13 19:28:56

hi all, be back later but just a quick one to let you know that the other stories yellow bag I got that some of you were interested in is back in stock! only a few left though..
www.stories.com/New_in/All_news/Clare_Vivier_shoulder_bag/591727-554024.1

noviceoftheday Thu 21-Mar-13 20:18:16

Evening all! i learned a valuable lesson yesterday. these are for sitting in. They are not for walking or standing around for long periods, two days in a row. Ouch! Ouch!

I wore my new Austin reed dress today. Looked great and wore them with more sensible heelssmile I also got out rarely used Prada black bag and the Armani jacket I bought last month. I hadn't realised at the time, as I was so focused on the look at the front that it has a slight peplum bit so ends at the widest part of my arse. I wouldn't say I have gone off it but its a real shame as its perfect otherwise!

I haven't bought anything for about 10 days ignores yet to be tried on Russell Bromley shoes and oasis dress! I would be allowed to join the frugal thread at this rate!smile

noviceoftheday Thu 21-Mar-13 21:02:23

Didnt someone link a Clarks version of these shoes? Quite like them. They seem less chunky.

Ooh novice nice dress....but can't see the heels.

Well, I think I'm not worthy of this thread anymore......my friend told me ages ago about her addiction to " Real Housewives of Beverly Hills", I scoffed but set series link just to check. Forgot about it until yesterday.....have discovered 19 episodes on the hard drive! In the last 24 hrs I've watched 6!!!!! That's a guilty pleasure......but it's affecting my taste! Ladies I have a BIG party Saturday and am now thinking slutty shoes, body con dress and huge amounts of bling added to piles of slap may be the way to go? Bare legs with open ones heels and severe snow warnings!!!
Have I lost it?

QueenCadbury Thu 21-Mar-13 21:11:34

drywhite step away from the TV.

Ladies, I give it 6 months until we're all pinning leather dungarees onto our wish lists grin

Off to centre parcs again tomorrow so will be pairing Nike sweatpants with hunter wellies for the weekend.(bilblical rain rather than snow thankfully in the SW)

We're doing CP in April. Last went in December, I wore nice clothes every day and caught pneumonia for Christmas. I think your idea sound better QueenC!

Have I missed something while away in Beverley Hills? Dungarees you say QueenC??????????shock

What do we think of these? Cheap....but think would do for boyfriend jeans daytime?
sandals

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Thu 21-Mar-13 22:27:04

Decameron LOVE that DVF. Perfect with the skinnies - so chic.
Justasecond I can vouch for the quality of Clare Vivier bags and that is so reasonable. I have the La Tropezienne and have used it almost daily for 18 months. I totally abuse it and it stands up to whatever I throw at (and into) it.
Still haven't bought the Goldsigns, but expect that to change imminently - although I'm really obsessing over the rose gold Michael Kors watch, especially after noticing my lovely hairdresser's gold version today. So many beautiful things, such limited finances!

Pseudonymity Thu 21-Mar-13 23:07:51

I love that bag Grumpy Claire Vivier is right up my street.

santamarianovella Fri 22-Mar-13 00:04:20

drywhite RHOBH is my guilty pleasure!but i do agree, with all the money they have their taste is ,well tasteless!

shopafrolic Fri 22-Mar-13 09:32:35

Beautiful outfit Decameron and good call on the Ash I think. I hope you had a fun evening. The dinner party was good, very highbrow and I felt very out of my depth at times I have to confess! Lots of talk of diamond trading and private jets (not the usual circles we move in at all!) but good fun and the outfit felt right which made me more confident....
Novice can't see the shoes that cause so much pain - hope they weren't too pricey!
Drywhite and Santa if you start linking to leopard print, bodycon and PVC we'll be having words!
QueenC enjoy CenterParcs - we go away just after Easter for a much needed few days break and I can't wait.
Great parka Amber that would liven CenterParcs up a bit!
Justasecond by the time I got home last night the bag had gone sad
But then I mustn't shop right now so that's probably a good thing.....

libertychick Fri 22-Mar-13 10:05:32

Morning all. Working from home today, DD gone to playgroup so very peaceful right now.

Good outfits for evenings out Shop and Dec.

Drywhite if you do dress Beverley Hills style on Saturday night you have to take a photo and pin it! I think the DP sandals would work well with boyfriend jeans and a pretty top. Good colour for S/S - the height would put me off of especially for daytime but I know that lots of people can actually walk in heels!

We're not going anywhere for Easter but looking forward to having a few days off. My BR skirt arrived and I am really pleased with it as it works with lots of things I have (navy, grey, white and dark blue) so will give me a spring time look if it ever warms up again.

Grumpy I ADORE that Clare Vivier bag - I have pinned a couple of totes as I need a bag for work that can take my laptop and some folders etc and now I really want that one! But the lack of a zip on top is stopping me....Will think about it for a few days.

A dress I have been stalking on NAP has suddenly popped up on the outnet with a huge reduction but only available in large sad. Will watch obsessively now for returns - any hints on best times of day to check?

foxysocks Fri 22-Mar-13 10:45:03

liberty does it have your size crossed out, or not? if so you can click and add to wish list for an alert when it comes back in. but if not there at all I think that means they've never had it in. does that make sense?

i feel utterly grim today. skipped yoga this morning which is unheard of for me. am dressed in sartorial equiv of a hug: olive cashmere sweater and my favourite slouchy jeans (distressed diesels). will add ash camel trainers once muster courage to turn off cbeebies and take DC out. inset day, sob.

anni and decam sorry for getting you two confused. I see gigi, i think anni lol. the ash trainers are great buy, I completely adore both my pairs and they get so much use

still pointy flat obsessed and drawing blanks from googling. plenty of ballerinas in leopard print but none with pointy toes. i really need the pointed ones, from looking at my pins I'm def drawn towards that look atm.

anni i ordered that yellow belt and now it's sold out in S! thanks xx

MarshaBrady Fri 22-Mar-13 13:19:43

Sleep great work on the C/Es and Goldsigns. Still tempted on the latter!

Decam I like Ash, and the cobalt gigis too. But I can't do gigis at all due to ahem ballet feet.

Shop your night sounds fantastic! I love friends like that, just for a glimpse into another world. How are you feeling?

Great parka Amber.

Novice doing well, although must be nearly time for a new bag wink grin

Drywhite I really like them.

Liberty oh no, do Foxy's thing, or when I was checking for clearance stuff it really was at anytime not just morning.

Foxy you poor thing, hope you feel better soon. Am obsessed too with the leopard pointy flat.

MarshaBrady Fri 22-Mar-13 13:23:34

My Vanessa Bruno athe jacket has arrived, missed it the other day.

And after not linking as wasn't sure at all, thought might bring down tone of thread wink, I really love it!

It's so warm and comfy and fabulously nice tweed. Here V Bruno.
Will wear long tops underneath as has short arms.

MarshaBrady Fri 22-Mar-13 13:33:03

Ooh and then the Whistles snakeskin ballet flats turned up by post straight afterwards.

Love those too! Was worried about size 40 as sometimes can be 40.5 but they are perfect.

Will be telling dh how much I've saved, not spent, recently. Outnet and Atterley Rd has been good!

MarshaBrady Fri 22-Mar-13 13:39:01

I mean have -> excitement.

And am feeling rather out of it today. I think it's the weather, as if I need to do one last hibernation after nearly getting out of it before. Can't wait for actual Spring - ballet flats and peacoats / jackets weather.

Ok I have ordered the DP sandals with 20% off today. I do think, however, that a £2 delivery charge for in store collection is ridiculous.
Will try with bf jeans and report back. I'm a sucker for a heel daytime -- perhaps I am a real housewife of BHills style wise--. Am going to try on outfits for party now.

Btw had to laugh at DH this morning.....standing in his pants, hands on hips, staring at his shirts " I hate bloody dress down Friday"..... Having a bit of a girlie dressing meltdown! I just said " welcome to my world, and don't wear your going out Paul Smith floral shirt." grin he nearly said " I don't have a thing to wear"!!!!!!!!!!

libertychick Fri 22-Mar-13 14:30:34

Marsha The V Bruno jacket is great - why did you think you'd bring down the tone of the thread? smile and I am envy at the Whistles flats - they are all gone now!

Thanks for the outnet tip [Foxy] I have repeatedly tried to put it onto my wishlist in small or medium but it just keeps putting it on in the large! Have decided to log out and try again later. Hope you feel better soon.

I am feeling very spacey today too - really tired and struggling to work. And I look terrible, blotchy skin and tired eyes.

libertychick Fri 22-Mar-13 14:34:21

Drywhite my sympathies to your DH - IMO 'Dress down Friday' is a nightmare. One organisation I worked in a few years ago had a dress code and then issued a appendix to the dress code to cover dress down Friday!!! And much harder for men than women.
But the mental image of your DH melting down about it is funny smile

MarshaBrady Fri 22-Mar-13 14:35:57

Thanks Liberty! I have no idea now, bizarre. I think it's because it's not really me, or it wasn't. So when I ordered it I half expected it to be wrong and not good.

I know silly really! I love it now, am really pleased I've ordered stuff I wouldn't usually order. Love all the recent things.

I feel so rubbish too. Glad it's the weekend, although dh doing a very rare work industry-related thing so won't be around.

We got a directive from above stipulating no shorts or 'urban t-shirts' on dress down Friday. Quite what constitutes an urban t-shirt has never been ascertained.

Well his outfit is always the same anyway.....check shirt, chinos or jeans,v neck jumper, brogues .......today though he decided Wellies and ski jacket most practical option!!grin

MrsRadicchio Fri 22-Mar-13 15:38:37

Marsha I meant to say I really like those whistles flats. I have the shopper in the same material.

I like the Vanessa Bruno jacket too, what a bargain. I like tweedy jackets though I have loads of not quite right ones in my wardrobe.

Shop your evening sounds good.

Amber I like the neon parka and outfit on your blog!

libertychick Fri 22-Mar-13 16:19:41

Our dress down directive included no denim confused. I just wear the same as I do every other day - my work environment is public sector so smart casual rather than overly corporate anyway.
And yes big thumbs up for your blog outfit today Amber
<off to look for *MrsR's snakeskin shopper>

Annianni Fri 22-Mar-13 16:32:05

There's some lovely yellow 7fam skinny jeans in Tkmaxx in a 25 and 26 for £50 if anyone's interested.

Decameron Fri 22-Mar-13 16:39:58

Grumpy, your bag is lovely. As are your new jacket and shoes, Marsha.

Wow at diamond trading and private jets, Shop! I had a good night but I can't do two nights out in a row any more, feel tired today though drank very little. I meet up with some of the mothers in DD1's class, we take turns to host. It's good fun.

That's funny, Drywhite! My Dh wears chinos on Fridays.

I still haven't ordered the Ash. Keep looking at this top and have it in my basket though I know it is probably not very practical. I have a 20% off code I can use, I get two a year and also have a £25 gift certificate to bring down the price. But it is still not a bargain and probably not a wise buy, is it?

Good morning everyone, sorry to hear you've got the lurgy too now foxy, hope you get better soon.

Decameron I love your outfit, have a real soft spot for DVF, first thing I ever bought from NAP, maybe 9 or 10 years ago, was a DVF lace wrap top and it still occasionally comes out today. Also have a gold dress (pinned) that I bought for my wedding party and love.

Shop your evening sounds fun and outfit fab too.

Drywhite please do a BH and show us a pic grin.

Just back from seeing Bowie exhibition at the V&A, was fantastic, the clothes are amazing. Have on the combo that was exchanged for PJ's and bed 2 weeks ago (can't believe I still don't feel 100%) - Monty and suede J brands and Pistols. Topped off with Joseph shearling as it is freezing out there.

We were hoping to get away for a week somewhere warm over Easter, looking at the Canaries but flights are looking to be around £500shock so may not be happening now, most upsettingly. I even bought a reduced Pistol Panties bikini sad. Will have to keep til Whitsun I guess...

ps - nice purchases Marsha smile

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 22-Mar-13 16:58:33

Just did a Post Office run with 3 boxes of returns!
liberty I also had the BR yellow skirt but it didn't even make it out of the cellophane bag. I'd had to order one size bigger as they'd sold out of my size and wow, what a difference - it was enormous!
I also returned both pairs of &Other Stories shoes as they were both too big and, as yet, they don't have the smaller sizes available in either which is a big-time bummer as I loved them both. the small yellow top has gone back too, but I did receive its bigger replacement today along with this bracelet and this blouse - really happy with both.
Out to dinner with DH tonight and at the races tomorrow but feel and look completely knackered. Have a scratchy throat and sneezy nose, so it may be a bit of a trial rather than a pleasure. Lots of bronzer!

sleep maybe I will pin some BH outfits and you can vote......have a bottle of Chablis in fridge. Give me an hour or two to " pluck up the courage"!!!wink

grin

Grumpy hope you've got thermals ready, forget bronzer!!!grin

Annianni Fri 22-Mar-13 19:25:16

Decameron I've found those zebra and red gigi's for £58 ish if you're interested? But not all sizes available.

Decameron Fri 22-Mar-13 20:10:32

Anni, yes please, brilliant, where? I'm a US 9.5.

Drywhite, would love to see the BH outfits. grin

Sleep, I'm a big DVF fan too. Ideally would be dressed head to toe in DVF every day!

Decameron Fri 22-Mar-13 20:12:53

Grumpy, that blouse is lovely, great find. I've just ordered an H&M cotton blouse that MrsCB mentioned in her blog. This one. There is another thread (top for £2 or something) giving discount codes.

Annianni Fri 22-Mar-13 20:24:31

There's one pair in your size, so I've pm'd you Decam.

Ok, by popular demand, and because
1. It's Friday
2. I'm happy with myself
3. Having finished off Chablis and moved on o a nice Rioja despite my not mixing rule, I'm feeling brave
4. Want to give you a good laugh
Voila BH putfits
HOWEVER I do actual
Y like some of them, am going to a "dress" do so need a vote please ( not bare legs as snow obv), you have a couple of hours then I delete the board.
Remember I'm 46....ok ..........grin

shopafrolic Fri 22-Mar-13 20:58:02

I haven't read back up thread to understand what the outfits are for but if we're voting for favourites I love no.4 drywhite

shopafrolic Fri 22-Mar-13 20:58:47

I meant 3!!!!! It makes you look über skinny. From the looks of things you are über skinny, but it's v flattering.

foxysocks Fri 22-Mar-13 21:01:32

no 3, deffo. gorgeous!

MarshaBrady Fri 22-Mar-13 21:03:42

Drywhite my favourite is no. 3 the one with the belt, and the purple one next to it is fabulous too. Very chic!

Will fill you in......I've become addicted to "the real housewives of Beverly Hills" and was joking that it was affecting my style. Said I'd post some B Hills outfits, but am also going to posh dress do tomorrow.....tongue in cheek ( some outfits...lilac , never worn..... Others I love)

noviceoftheday Fri 22-Mar-13 21:27:53

Hello! You look lovely in no 3 drywhite

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 22-Mar-13 21:39:35

I know it's looking unanimous, but another vote for lovely No3 Drywhite. Great shape.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Fri 22-Mar-13 21:42:12

Decameron that's really nice too - like how it's styled with cut-offs. Since seeing Gwynnie in a cut offs and shirt ensemble it's become a bit of a style crush for me.

Amber Surely 'Urban t-shirts' is a blog waiting to happen?

I suspect something like this would not go down too well grin

libertychick Fri 22-Mar-13 22:12:12

Another vote for No 3 here Drywhite smile. It's the most va va voom of the options and v classy - not BH at all.

Grumpy The sizing in BR is very generous IMO - I debated going down a size in the skirt but in the end went with usual size and I may get it slightly adjusted. I tried on some tops there the other day and felt like I was drowning in material!!

libertychick Fri 22-Mar-13 22:14:12

grin at the T-shirt travelin

Dec Raoul top is beautiful but you would probably get more use out of the Ash trainers < channeling Miss Sensible>

Decameron Fri 22-Mar-13 22:33:28

Thanks so much, Anni, I've ordered the gigis. Much nicer with the red than the pale pink.

I find it hard to be sensible, Liberty but you are right!

Aww, Drywhite, I can't see the photos.

Sorry Decameron I deleted the board.

Thanks everyone for your comments really helpful for tomorrow night. I'll go with no 3 then ( despite bare legs and snow!!) funny, I've had that outfit since last November and haven't worn it yet....so it was meant to be!
Liberty chuffed at va va vroom!!!!

Amber I agree that your neon parka looks lovely.
Hopefully if you're out there, I love the slouchy, relaxed look today.
MrsCB I think you're lurking.....thanks for the like.

Decameron just looked back......I love that H and M blouse, did you get it for £2?!!!!!shock

Decameron Fri 22-Mar-13 22:54:50

No, no, it came to about £19 with discount codes which are listed on another thread called "top deliverered for £2", something like that. On phone so can't link. Sorry I missed your photos. Have fun tomorow night.

Decameron Fri 22-Mar-13 22:55:26

Delivered. Can't type on phone either.

Aargh, am gutted, been out this evening and I missed the pics dry!

Annianni Sat 23-Mar-13 07:24:23

Drywhite looked lovely sleep.

Well done on the shoes Decameron, they are much nicer with the red.

They are from Amazon if anyone's interested, not all sizes available though.

I accidentally bought a sodding polyester cardigan last night.
I liked the blue Splendid one on AR, and had seen something else that was cotton, and I got them mixed up.

I think a polyester dry clean only cardi will be going straight back, unless it's amazing.

Annianni Sat 23-Mar-13 07:27:54

Well done with the belt Foxy, I hope it's nice when it comes.
I've also ordered it in bright blue from FC's site for £6-50.

Have woken up to a BLIZZARD! A bloody full scale blizzard.......1/2 ft snow!!!!!!sad haven't ever seen snow this bad.
Wellies tonight.......if I make it out of the house! Bother.

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 08:48:21

Oh hope you do DryWhite.

Snowing rather madly here, SE London, but settling a little bit but mostly just wet, and very cold. Dh out all day, will be with the dc at home. Fancy ordering something for Spring for a change.

Pseud in answer to your fashion mag one, I think CÚline fluff but never say never wink. Especially if it means I can lounge by a pool.

What's your most bargainous oufit? As in the best discount.

I think
I&I sweater
J Crew t
peacoat
hmm jeans, might have to be the twiggys
and pistols half price

Decameron Sat 23-Mar-13 08:53:09

It's miserable here, no snow though. Hope you make it out tonight, Drywhite.

That belt sounds great, Anni.

For me it's anything Juicy Couture. I've never seen a nice item they've made.

As for best bargain my £36 pistols are up there, along with a £50 Alexander Wang dress and a £13 Crumpet cashmere dress from the Outnet.

And my £1.99 eBay cropped Goldsigns.

Decameron Sat 23-Mar-13 08:59:58

I have quite a lot bought at 30-50% off. Not sure I have a full bargainous outfit though.

Decameron Sat 23-Mar-13 09:01:01

I have a Juicy Couture baby changing bag, Amber. blush I don't use it any more though. It was black, not too bad.

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 09:12:31

Decam I'll have to join you, I have a juicy couture summer dress from NaP sale.

I always feel conspicuous when I wear it due to the frills and lightness of fabric. One of those gets compliments things we were talking about earlier that isn't really me. I'll probably keep it anyway, just because.

shopafrolic Sat 23-Mar-13 09:20:23

Morning all - lots of snow here too (Herts) but it's thawing as it's falling which is weird!
Marsha I like that I can claim a bit of glory for your most bargainous items! - well the Pistols and the jeans maybe? (You forgot the MNV AV sweater?) smile
Amber £36 Pistols!?!?!?!?!? envy

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 09:30:03

Shop you are brilliant! If I threw on the mnv, you have kitted out that oufit. Why do I never mention the mnv?! I love it, I am wearing it today and I seem to forget when making lists.

And Anni for the peacoat inspiration.

So let's see that's
MNV sweater, Twiggy, J Crew, peacoat and pistols saving about £650 in one outfit. Not bad! MNV such good luck, love it.

Annianni Sat 23-Mar-13 09:35:33

Blue croc FC belt is here and it would fit ds1. It's one of those silly waist belts but it didn't say that on the website hmm

I have other FC belts that are huge.
Slightly annoying, but it's going back.

Along with a red angora cardigan that's itchy. And an enormous tshirt.

Annianni Sat 23-Mar-13 09:37:50

My most bargainous outfit would be bowies for £51, or Sam Edelman flats for £25, Hudson jeans for £50 or Goldsign, and my peacoat.

See now that is cute Marsha but everything I ever see is lurid, gold embossed slogan tat. And there is always an enormous queue to try it on in Selfridges. WTF? I'm obviously not their target demographic!

Shop they came from a Matches clearance sale, one needed resoling which cost me £7 and job done. My first pair of Virtuals was £50 in the Selfridges sale so that was pretty good too.

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 09:45:22

I remember thinking Juicy Couture?! when I bought it, so I think of their stuff as rather OTT too.

And Amber too, you were great luck for the Marant heels from £450 to £145 at that Matches sale.

Juicy Couture totally passed me by....just couldn't get over the velour Waynetta track suits....don't care what label they have, they are still horrible ESP worm with UGGs and orange tan....eeek. defo not in their demographic either Amber!!!!!

Has anyone seen the Times Magazine 25 things ( fashion) you should buy ? Now I'm making a list !!!!! But encouraged to see that I have a few bits.

I need want;
A bright tote in orangey / red
Bobbi Brown nude mail colour in Roza
New it trainers if I'm going to donn Lycra I may as well look semi chic when I'm sweaty
Pointy,flat, silver pump/ sandal

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 10:04:33

The track suits are horrible, I don't see them that much these days.

No, I think they were popular when Juicy first came on the scene.

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Mar-13 10:18:45

Morning all! Snowing a lot here so I am v fetching grinin Primark Breton long tee, hiding under thick beige polo jumper ( I think it's Oasis and I have had it about 10 years!), gap long and lean jeans and my beloved merrells natalya boots. Oh and jack wolfskin coat which dh bought as a present and I wasn't that bothered about but now love blush. What's funny is that I didn't take my jewelry off last night or before shower so I am wearing diamonds. Looks v odd!grin

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 10:18:48

I like your list Drywhite.

I'm finding it hard to think of what I would like, other than what I have seen so far:

J Crew shirt, polka dots or light denim one
Blush flats (still on list!)
J Crew silver pointy flats
Impossible to find leopard pointy flats
I still need a pencil skirt

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 10:19:26

I like your style Novice!

shopafrolic Sat 23-Mar-13 10:22:19

Snap Marsha MNV sweater on here today too! With J Brand Sashas, Zara leopard scarf (not sure if it works but am cold!) And the Jo Whiley boots - which I'll have to change for snowboots if we head out. Sick of this weather now. Still coughing up a lung. Still hopefully next week there'll be the final decision about DH job and then we can get on with moving forwards away from all the stress!

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Mar-13 10:26:13

Ah you know me, I am not for saving anything for best! Can't take it with yougrin

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 10:31:53

Oh I hope so Shop, fingers crossed for you.

Novice grin. I have always want to do the most mundane things in the most lavish things, just for fun.

One last thing, post arrived with Hobbs fine knit yellow sweater. It's not bright like the pic at all, more like this ochre colour. I really wanted something bright for the peacoat. It's is nice fabric, soft and silky, although quite fine, so a shame it's not the right colour.

The Filippa K t on the other hand is lovely, fantastic colour. Very rich and bright, so will keep that one I think.

shopafrolic Sat 23-Mar-13 10:33:06

Marsha what size is the Hobbs?

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 10:33:09

I mean this ochre one Farhi.

Shop thanks poor you. Fingers crossed for next week.
Novice love the diamonds and your outfit!!( where are you? Snow)
Marsha am lusting after those J Crew silver pointy flats too, just not sure they would suit my fat feet!
I'm sure someone has linked pointy leopard flats....will have a look for you.
I'm still in my pjs and dressing gown ( no diamonds) just can't get going this morning since life has ground to a halt.....,,6 episodes of RHoBH left, getting a bit sick of the incredible bitching tbh.
Can someone link the MNV sweater....I seem to have missed that!

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 10:33:30

Shop size 10

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 10:33:49

Nor my big feet Dry!

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 10:36:27

Hang will take photos of it and upload so you can see size and colour

foxysocks Sat 23-Mar-13 10:40:06

<awaits kicking off thread> I LOVE my juicy trackies! I only bought them after borrowing a friend's last year in india, I was putting jeans on after yoga and feeling grim and she offered me a loan as she has a few pairs. she was dead on the money, you really need to be wrapped up and cosy at 6am in india after a haaaaard practice smile. anyway, I think they look good on me and couldn't care less what anyone else thinks. I don't wear them here unless I'm purely sofa-lounging grin

bargains... def the mnv sweater. it wasn't as big a discount as the I&I cashmere but the quality is much better imo - don't you reckon marsha/*shop*?

I got a pair of james pale wash skinnies for £18 once in an outnet clearance which I wear every summer

my all saints leather jacket was £100 down from almost £400 a few years ago

hmmm shoes -not sure I have any huge bargains. my first pair of ash were £60 which is ok but still not amazing. I'm not a massive shoe girl tbh, I only ever wear flats unless there's hardly any walking involved (<precious> I don't like to throw off my posture, heels make my back hurt and shortens calves/hamstrings)

not seen the times today but I have a loooong SS wishlist!

white cropped jeans (still deliberating marsha!!)
chambray shirt (j crew probs)
leopard pointy flats
blush flats - either gigis or ballerinas
yellow tee
cobalt scarf
denim jacket
good quality tees in white, black and marl grey
another pair of havianas as I wear mine into the ground
white trainers - probably converse having read that superga are wide, i have skinny feet

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 10:43:49

Aw foxy bet you look ace in them. I've not tried any. Who knows I might like them after all!

Don't worry am still deliberating on Goldsigns!

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 10:44:04

From the other day, sometimes one needs a sign.

foxysocks Sat 23-Mar-13 10:44:52

I like that farhi tee marsha, maybe you could exchange? OCADO13 gets £25 off a £50 min spend with atterly road although you need one FP item in the basket to make it work.

foxysocks Sat 23-Mar-13 10:47:39

the indigo ones, marsha? am wearing mine today, I love them sooo much.

maybe i'll wear the trackies to the MNV meet wink

anni missed that about the belt, bummer! so do you think the yellow will be the same? at least asos is free returns, but how annoying.

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 10:49:36

Yes the indigo ones, they look so good. But I've spent a bit lately, and am uhming over them. They would be good.

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Mar-13 10:51:43

Marsha, you should try it! Here is the funny bit.... I am now in Poundland, (one of my favourite shops in the world) btw strolling round in Tiffany and Boodles diamonds buying bargain Easter crafts and decorations for the kids. grin. Dh thinks it v odd that I love the poundshops so much grin. Where else would you go???!.

marsha
mmmm
bloody gorgeous
pointy enough?
Haven't checked sizes though

foxysocks Sat 23-Mar-13 10:53:00

don't buy them unless you are ok ££ wise. nothing is worth getting in debt. however, they are tres useful, comfortable and flattering. have you tried a pair on? you may need to go down a size, mine are a 24 and i'm 25 in j brands. x

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 10:59:56

I tried the white ones on, yes to a size smaller. I was all in a fluster about the MiH at the time so wasn't paying attention!

I am pretty good as no credit card, so only do it if I can. But hmmm I'm used to those £20 things. What I'd like to do is have those instead of the MiH Paris, I know! After all that. But I don't want to eBay the Paris as I'll get a measly amount for them.

Ohh thanks Dry going to have a look.

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 11:03:49

Novice that is good in my book. I think about walking around Sainsbury's in Hermès or something. One step away from over the top housewife.

Also notice in swishy places that the more celeb someone is the more they dress down. Quite like that too.

Ooh I've got a wishlist:

Philip Lim T-Shirt
White converse high tops
Blue R&B pointy courts
Rose gold Philippe Audibert cuff
Jemima Vine snake print flats

So that is next week's spare cash taken care of!

Next month's - I'm not that profligate!

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 11:17:12

Love the sound of all that Amber, already swooning at P Lim tshirt.

Shop have finally managed to get a photo uploaded to profile. Shows Hobbs top, colour and size. Pretty titchy for a 10 really. Please excuse non-glamorous shot!

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Mar-13 11:18:04

grin Amber.

I don't have a wish list. I should because we're on holiday and I haven't started thinking about it yet! Its hard to when its snowing! shock

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 11:19:25

Wow at those Céline Drywhite!

Too small unfortunately, they are great.

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 11:30:41

My size has gone now in the Goldsign. Fate!

Good God it's all going pear shaped! I want to live in a city with tubes and buses!
Party in next village. Snow. I'm snowed in. But I can get the train and stay at friends house (DH away.....kids sorted). I'm now packing a sodding RUCKSACK with my lovely party outfit inside. Then I'm going to wrap up aka sodding abominable snow man and trudge through snow, take train, get ready pissed at friends house before trudging through snow in Wellies, parka, hat etc to party venue with shoes in hand. i thought my life was glamorous!!!! Bloody country living! My hair shock

shopafrolic Sat 23-Mar-13 12:40:26

Dear God Marsha I wouldn't get a boob in that! Thanks though. Perfect colour......
Sorry - had popped round to parents to check they're ok in the snow. Now catching up......

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 12:43:58

I know I was surprised when I took it out! Really small. Have to try on properly but have a feeling it will even be cropped on me, not a good look.

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 12:45:45

Hope they are ok Shop. I just skyped my parents and sister with new baby. I really can't get on with Skype at all. So delayed and just these faces looking at each other. Had to get off, and plan a normal phone instead.

Oh no DryWhite good luck getting there!

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Mar-13 12:45:56

Oh poor you drywhite! Sounds horrendous shock

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Mar-13 13:22:01

Oh dear. We're in a restaurant (dh just taken kids to loo) and I don't feel v well. Achey and sore throat. We are busy the rest of the day, really busy tomorrow and I am meant to be in Amsterdam on Tuesday and Wednesday.shock I can't get sick!confused

novice it wii be fine. I always think if things go too smoothly then it's a bit boring! I'm hoping to get snowed in at the bargrin I hope you survive and get better before your trip.

libertychick Sat 23-Mar-13 14:58:33

Quick wave to all.

Hope the party goes well Drywhite after the Trojan efforts to get there.

Novice at risk of sounding like a grandmother (this advice does come from my grandmother!!) gargle with diluted TCP - it tastes absolutely vile but it is a surefire way to stop a sore throat. Everyone I have ever passed this tip onto has thanked me for it!

Need to work on a list - black jeans, pretty white cotton blouse, some T's - plain and stripy, tan sandals, cobalt or green chinos come to mind.

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Mar-13 15:01:17

Thanks drywhite. smile

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Mar-13 15:07:21

Thanks Liberty! My dm says that so will try it too. I am that desperate.

Has anyone noticed how there are a lot of sales at the moment? Clothes that were put out on the rack last month are on sale already. shock. Doesn't bode well for health of the country.

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Mar-13 16:00:03

Try and rest Novice can you duck out of anything? Hope you don't get worse, <improving hot lemon vibe>.

I've bought loads at great discounts lately, but mostly from the outnet.

I've decided to keep the Hobbs. Have got used to the muted colour, and it is fine without anything underneath. I did think it was a jumper, but it's more a top. (that photo makes it look smaller than it is, due to the angle). It's very nice as it's silk / cotton / cashmere.

Right....I'm going out now, I may be some time.......................grin

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Sat 23-Mar-13 20:49:32

Gosh, it's quiet on here tonight! you must have all followed Drywhite's lead and gone off somewhere interesting. I'm sitting here in front of a blazing log fire, which sounds lovely (it is) but out of necessity as the bloody heating oil chose this morning to run out. Apparently there's currently a shortage and we can't get any until mid week. I bought a couple of 20 litre drums to tide us over, but as they're also rationed I'm having to be economical with it, so heating off now.Fortunately, racing abandoned today due to the weather, so have spent the day catching up on chores, which I didn't actually mind. Stinking head cold to boot, so just treated myself to a pair of gigis as I dream of days actually warm enough to wear them. My Maison Scotch cords arrived today too and I could not be happier with them. The colour is gorgeous and they are sooo soft and stretchy, they look and feel more like velvet than cord. They'd go so well with these - I'm feeling tempted...

Decameron Sat 23-Mar-13 22:37:57

They are the sandals I ordered, Grumpy. We may be waiting a while to wear them. I like the cords. Stay warm!

Hope you made it and you are having fun, Drywhite.

Decameron Sat 23-Mar-13 22:39:19

Gargling with TCP works for me too, Novice. Not pleasant though!

QueenCadbury Sun 24-Mar-13 08:17:20

Greetings all from centre parcs! Can't believe you've all had such bad snow. The SW has obviously escaped it but it is freezing in longleat.

Loving the optimsm of you all buying sandals and bikinis. Summer feels such a long way off.

The only new thing I need is a black vest. I've worn my virtually every day for 6 months and now it's got holes in it. This is what I would normally buy but I'm sure they're normally longer than 64cm so it might not be long enough for me. I'll look at h&m too but otherwise any recommendations for a basic black cotton vest for a long body?

shopafrolic Sun 24-Mar-13 10:16:44

Morning all! Hope everyone had good evenings.
QueenC I got my longer vests from H&M after recommendations on here. All the black ones are fine. Some of the white ones got sent back as were quite thin.
Am wearing my I&I green stripe cashmere sweater today with my ever present J Brand Sashas and Jo Whiley boots! Thermals are on! So cold. I love how zingy the sweater is, brightens me up when my mood is frankly awful. Shouted at DS twice already this morning. Need to lower the stress levels.....Off out for a roast lunch with friends so that will be lovely. Have good days all.

Doing my bit for the economy, I just ordered my Philip Lim t-shirt. It was the last one in my size and is therefore totally justifiable.

shopafrolic Sun 24-Mar-13 10:27:36

Link please Amber! Sounds fab!

Annianni Sun 24-Mar-13 10:34:30

Do I buy some grey Hudson horrigans from office with the 20% off?

I've liked that style since last year, so is it dated now?

I also like the rosse and enke styles with the buckles on the back.

And I like the Ash jalouse in the wood ash colour.

I need some ankle boots, not been wearing my bowies or beas (must eBay one of these days)

What colour should I get?
Help please grin

I'd love some pistols or Jenny's but they're out of my price range sad

Annianni Sun 24-Mar-13 10:37:41

Love that tee Amber

Annianni Sun 24-Mar-13 10:39:13

Hope you have a fab time QueenC

And that Drywhite survived her ordeal grin

shopafrolic Sun 24-Mar-13 10:43:27

Love it Amber!

shopafrolic Sun 24-Mar-13 10:49:29

Anni what a shame the Bowies and Beas aren't working out for you - it only seems like yesterday that you bought them. I love a Hudson boot! My favourite of the three you mention are the Enke (sp?!). I saw the Rosse in Selfridges and didn't like them so much IRL. Love my Ash Jalouse and Spirals too......not much help I know!

MarshaBrady Sun 24-Mar-13 11:33:46

Anni out of the three Hudson ones, the Horrigan is my favourite.

Great t Amber.

Dh is a some work thing, how dull dull dull on the weekend. Much prefer to have him around. Waiting for him to get home so I can go get some eggs <hungry>.

I am compiling a list for Spring, loads of stuff that I like have only one left in my size. Got a couple of project things (again!, the last few haven't been right, but these are looking better) this week, better happen so I can do the big shop.

MarshaBrady Sun 24-Mar-13 11:36:04

QueenC have a fab time. I haven't been to CP! I imagine it to be like a wood hut that we stayed in on holiday in Aus. In the middle of the wilderness. Was nice, quite rustic. Food was terrible though for some reason, shame when surrounded by such beauty and fresh fish.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Sun 24-Mar-13 11:50:10

Morning all!
QueenC hope you're having a nice (relaxing) time, enjoy the lack of snow - it doesn't look like it's going anywhere here. I'm imagining still wearing duvet coats and fairisle scarves in July sad
Love the T Amber. We do need to do our bit to encourage the economy to grow (that's how I justify everything I buy!)
Got to venture out in a bit to get more wood for the fire. I had a big builder's bag of logs kindly donated by our estate manager but the copious amounts of rain and snow have got into the bag and most of what's left is too wet to burn, so off to the petrol station I must go. It'll probably cost me the price of my new Gigis for 2 bags of wood there.

MarshaBrady Sun 24-Mar-13 11:53:48

Grumpy loved those Maison Scotch cords, glad they are really good.

I have another £20 voucher, but will wait before using it.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Sun 24-Mar-13 12:00:34

Thanks Marsha. I do love them and I'm not normally a bright blue person, but the colour is so rich and flattering.
I'm a bit worried that I haven't received my Michael Kors watch from Asos. I had a text message yesterday saying it would be delivered between 11.47 and 12.47 (where do they get these exact times from?!) but nothing has appeared. Usually if they can't deliver I get another message to let me know and I was in until 1.30 (DD1 was in all afternoon) but nobody came. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow I'll have to look into it. Anyone else had this problem?

Annianni Sun 24-Mar-13 12:02:07

Thanks Marsha, I did order the grey horrigans earlier.

I love that photo of Gwyneth on Pin, where she's wearing grey boots with skinny jeans.

I do like the Hudson Enke in coal, so if I did get them at a later date, they are different enough from the horrigans. if that makes sense.

I do love the bowies and beas Shop, but I find myself picking other shoes out to wear iykwim.

MarshaBrady Sun 24-Mar-13 12:22:30

Grumpy if I get an exact time like that they do usually turn up when they say they will. Hope you can sort it quickly, how annoying.

Anni good one they are nice. I like that pic of Gwynnie too.

I'm wearing stella m skinny grey motos, orange mnv (cough again) it's such a weekend jumper and new V Bruno jacket today. The tweed has a warm red running through it and goes really well with orange / red / yellow underneath. Still really pleased I kept it.

I'm back.....I made it....I danced till 1.15..... I'm alive!!!!!!grin fantastic arriving in puffy parka and Wellies them unwrapping to reveal party ensemble.

I love the gigis Grumpy

I also adore G Paltrows style and was v cross at the stupid DM yesterday who slated her for posting v expensive garments in her feature on spring looks on Goop.dont they understand "aspirational"?

shopafrolic Sun 24-Mar-13 17:48:40

Does anyone have any experience of selling designer handbags on EBay? If an item is in good condition, how much of the original RRP would you expect to get back? Thinking of selling one of my oak Mulberry's.......

Decameron Sun 24-Mar-13 18:01:24

Shop, I sold an regular sized oak Alexa for £420, it was in very good condition. Think they are £795 now but I bought it in the duty free at 20% off so was happy enough.

I like the boots, Anni. Will be good in this Siberian spring we are having!

Glad you had a good night, Drywhite!

foxysocks Sun 24-Mar-13 18:14:02

Which style, shop? I might be interested...

No shopping here, too effing cold to think about SS and am still feeling grotty. Popped into a few places on Friday and was distinctly underwhelmed. Jigsaw, reiss, whistles, few other places, nada.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Sun 24-Mar-13 18:17:26

Sounds like a fun night Drywhite. You can't beat a long night of dancing.

The Gigis do look lovely. I was on Amazon buying music and just had a sneaky look to see what colourways they had and couldn't pass them up. I've got some Sam Edelman bottle green velvet slipper pumps and you just can't beat those quilted soles.

Listening with interest as to how you get on selling Shop. I've got a ponyskin Hobbs handbag bought for about £300 last year which I've only used once and don't really love. I know it's not quite a Mulberry, but I want to ebay it and don't want to get £25 for it.

santamarianovella Sun 24-Mar-13 18:17:39

shop i sold some of my bags through a friend of DH who is an ebay seller (an LV speedy, ysl oversized muse, and a very old crossbody gucci fabric). the ysl was sold for half its original price, and the lv was sold for about 180.i didnt make much, but it was better than having a cramped closet with bags i dont use anymore.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Sun 24-Mar-13 18:19:32

Realised my last post made me sound like I go around buying £300 bags I don't like - I did love it when I bought it, but found it cumbersome when I used it. Now gone right off it.

Decameron Sun 24-Mar-13 18:21:16

I was really lucky, I sold an LV speedy (red leather) for more than I paid for it. Red wasn't available at the time. I still regret selling it though.

I think brands like Hobbs sell well, Grumpy.

Get well soon, Foxy.

LeFreakCestChic Sun 24-Mar-13 18:23:46

Hello everyone! Is there a £20 off code/ requirement for atterley road...? I fancy the blue cords too..
Also wondering if anyone has a great plains code for 10% off & free delivery. It was on the back of a catalogue I got which has been recycled grrr. I emailed great plains about it but they said they couldn't give me a replacement code which is quite rubbish. Also, while I'm requesting (!) am in the market for a yellow jumper, not ££. Any ideas? Ta v much

foxysocks Sun 24-Mar-13 18:27:04

Would love an LV speedy <sigh>

Thanks decam, unfortunately DH away for work from tomorrow and Easter hols have already started, sob. Monday will be brought to you by Pixar ...

foxysocks Sun 24-Mar-13 18:27:46

Att rd code is share2013 I think lefreak

LeFreakCestChic Sun 24-Mar-13 18:32:37

Foxy, you may have ridden to my rescue again! Have emailed GP to say how crap their CS is- other online companies give out alternative codes, why can't they?

santamarianovella Sun 24-Mar-13 18:58:58

there is a huge demand for vintage LV speedy bags decam sadly i didnt know that till a few months ago.
but with recent increase in mulberry prices, many people are buying pre-owned ones shop, and if you have the dust bag and the original certificate you can make decent amount out of it.

Pseudonymity Sun 24-Mar-13 19:02:22

Just popping in to say that I'm loving the recent acquisitions. Are the Gigi sandals a good purchase then? I deliberated last year but didn't bite in the end. It was so wet in the end that I mostly wore my Ash Jess boots (like jalouse but leather). In fact I'm thinking of getting another pair of boots now for that purpose. Optimistic of me I know!

I really like my Gigis, would never pay £85 for them though!

foxysocks Sun 24-Mar-13 19:11:36

I like the look of them but tbh I live in havianas if its hot. Might get some in the sales if they pop up. Are about £45 on shopbop ATM.

Annianni Sun 24-Mar-13 19:30:01

Asos have gigi's for £45 at the moment.

shopafrolic Sun 24-Mar-13 19:49:00

LeFreak GAP had some v bright yellow sweaters....
Thanks all for the handbag selling info, I'll give it some thought. I haven't used this particular Mulberry for years as it's a small size (more for evening), I still have the Selfridges receipt so perhaps I'll give it a try. Need to start cashing in some bits and pieces......

right yellow? LeFreak
shop were you looking for a yellow one? Is this more of the Marant colour?

shopafrolic Sun 24-Mar-13 20:46:26

That is a better yellow for me Dry. Unfortunately all spending is now totally suspended so I shall have to keep dreaming for now!

Fingers crossed for tomorrow shop

QueenCadbury Sun 24-Mar-13 21:02:42

Ooh, dancing till 1.15. It's been a while since I did that envy. How's your head today grin?

Hi you chatty lot, sounds like you had a great night drywhite. I was at a birthday party in super hip East London (felt old), enjoyed wearing my new zara heels but would have preferred to be snuggled up on the sofa to be honest, I can't cope with two nights out in a row either it seems grin.

Today has been spent mostly in kickboxing kit as I had a grading, tough going, especially as I'm still not back to full health but I got a lovely new belt grin.

My red James jeggings arrived from the Outnet, but unfortunately they don't really work, definitely make my legs look chunky. Shame as they are a great colour. Eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Goldsigns and CE from DonaIda.

We booked a cheap week in Spain for Easter hols today, figured that even if the weather there isn't hot it has to be better than here. Couldn't bring ourselves to pay £££ for Lanzarote. Now I need to think about what to take, may need to boost my summer wardrobe.

Good luck for tomorrow shop

shopafrolic Sun 24-Mar-13 21:10:01

Thanks Dry - we'll know by Tuesday lunchtime

noviceoftheday Sun 24-Mar-13 21:31:32

Hi all! Hope you have had lovely Sundays. drywhite your evening sounds fun! Thankfully I managed to keep sickness at bay through a mega busy weekend. The dcs do activities every Saturday morning, we eat out and usually come home. Yesterday we had a family party in the afternoon and then dh were at the theatre last night. Today dd had a dance performance, 2 shows, which basically took up the whole day and then we were making Easter decorations for the playroom and their bedrooms. Ds has finally fallen asleep a few mins ago so i can collapse into bed now!

Last Easter we were at centre Parcs, it was bloody freezing and I decided its not for me <waves to QueenC who is clearly a better woman!> We actually went again at the end of the summer so we are doing that again this year. In the meanwhile, we are going away next month for 2 weeks. I would like some new summer clothes but its really hard to feel inspired when its so cold!! I so wish I was as imaginative as some of you who have been pinning spring/summer clothes for weeks!!

I love CP, we went 4 times last year! The kids adore it and I like the spa, only poor old DH who gets a bum deal, but he likes to see us all happy and his brother lives near Longleat so we always drop in for some brotherly bonding time.

Got Matches and My-Wardrobe orders arriving tomorrow - feels like Christmas!!

My head is a bit sad but nothing neurofen and lots of tea can't handle.....In my advanced years I've started drinking water after midnight ( when I remember!) and that is a great help the following morning.

noviceoftheday Sun 24-Mar-13 22:25:56

I am in shock! After a weeki just tried on the oasis dress I bought last week. Have never taken a dress of so quickly. Straight into the "what the hell was I thinking?" hall of fame!shock I can't actually find it to link but hideous on me, just hideous!

Amber 4 times?! You must go when it's cold! <Old granny faint> grin we are going abroad in 4 weeks time. 5 star hotel, we're staying in a 2 bed villa with a pool for 12 nights. Guaranteed hot weather. Business class flights free with air miles. Last week of August we are off to CP. 2 bed villa for 7 nights. Probably dodgy weathergrin. The cost of the two holidays is about the same!shock

QueenCadbury Mon 25-Mar-13 07:18:53

Yep, CP is ridiculously expensive. This year is the first time we've been since the kids started school (used to go at least once a year before then) as Bristol has had different school holidays to the rest of the country so we've managed to take advantage of slightly cheaper prices. We also had an inset day on Friday so were able to get here early and use the facilities all day. Off home today though. I absolutely love itgrin. One of the things I love is lazing around in sweatpants and no make up (shall I leave the thread now??)

Decameron Mon 25-Mar-13 07:19:01

Novice, I must say that I prefer the sound of the first holiday!

Hope it is good news tomorrow, Shop, I will cross my fingers and toes.

I've just pinned loads of things and still hovering over ordering the Ash. Already have bowies in red/black and navy and virgins in prune and black. Still, I need a light colour, don't I??? wink

MarshaBrady Mon 25-Mar-13 07:28:22

Me too I would love some guaranteed hot weather.

Go for it Decam.

MarshaBrady Mon 25-Mar-13 07:29:11

Good luck for tomorrow Shop.

MarshaBrady Mon 25-Mar-13 07:30:17

Ah and congratulations on new belt Sleep and fabbo re Spain.

shopafrolic Mon 25-Mar-13 07:53:01
noviceoftheday Mon 25-Mar-13 09:17:50

Ugh. Don't feel well.hmmI am at home. Fingers crossed for your dh today, Shop.

Annianni Mon 25-Mar-13 10:26:31

The pink is pretty Shop.
Good luck to you and Mr Shop.

Hope you feel better soon Novice.

Decameron Mon 25-Mar-13 12:24:57

Oooh, I like the pink. Hopefully My-W will stock them as have loyalty points.

Get well soon, Novice.

I done a bad thing. I ordered these.

shopafrolic Mon 25-Mar-13 13:28:49

Wow wow wow Amber - shoe envy

Wow Amber, they are so very you.
And we'll have no guilt please.

MarshaBrady Mon 25-Mar-13 13:54:50

Love them Amber, perfect for you.

Decameron Mon 25-Mar-13 14:26:25

Fabulous, Amber!

foxysocks Mon 25-Mar-13 14:30:31

wow amber, gorgeous!

shop fingers crossed for you. job stuff is so stressful.

still feeling grotty today, thanks for all the well wishes flowers

well I managed to overcome my ebay paranoia by negotiating a seller right down on a barely worn celine silk A line skirt. fingers crossed it all goes smoothly otherwise I will NEVER use ebay again. I actually dreamed about the damn skirt last night had have come up with lots of different outfits already, haha. thinking grey marl tee and silver sandals when it finally warms up, and with grey cashmere jumper, grey opaques and jalouse while it's still freezing.

further to the above... I have silver havianas but also debating some silver gigis. they'll be £43 with quidco cashback - which reminds me, I actually got cashback for all my style passport purchases, how mad is that? had written it all off as a lost cause.

what's everyone wearing today? I am wrapped up in the olive cable knit cashmere again, with distressed boyfriends.

Silver sandals v versatile foxy, I have Marni for H&M ones which I love!

I agree with amber when I pack for hot holidays I take silver footwear it goes with everything......silver converse, silver sandals, silver flip flops......that's all I need and have on spare bed ready to pack for Florida on Satrurday
amber I love that pink, funny how you get o know everyone's style eventually.

drywhite you wouldn't happen to be the lady SGS has written about today, would you? smile

Today I wore charcoal cashmere jumper, grey CoH skinnies and cobalt converse high tips. Boring.

I also committed a major tactical error - I didn't realise DH was working from home today and had scheduled my deliveries. Two Matches boxes, one My-Wardrobe and one &otherstories later he is mildly concerned (haven't mentioned the Beketts yet...)

wink

Annianni Mon 25-Mar-13 19:32:36

Oh dear Amber grin
Those shoes are lovely by the way.

My dh has been off for a week, he's working three days this week though thank god

noviceoftheday Mon 25-Mar-13 20:21:32

Oh dear Amber!shock

I wore pjs first half of the day and a Gerald Darel top and Superdry trackie bottoms the second half. Epitome of chic!wink

shopafrolic Mon 25-Mar-13 20:24:23

SGS?????

foxysocks Mon 25-Mar-13 20:26:55

school gate style

I thought that too, how funny! good one drywhite

foxysocks Mon 25-Mar-13 20:28:23

raaar the denim jacket I tried on in zara and loved earlier in the month is OOS on the website. I have just enough march money left to buy it as well, will have to trek into town and see if they have it there.

blush

Ahh, I have just caught up with vol. 6&7!! Been laptopless for weeks and no access to anywhere... Nice to be back smile

I am on the lookout for some Goldsign at lots of recommendation from you all - is there anywhere I can try on in Bristol or Bath? Am going to Florida in June, so I can maybe buy out there a bit cheaper?

Eeeee so looking forward to SS (if it ever arrives!)

MrsRadicchio Mon 25-Mar-13 21:17:35

Just checking in to say hello. No style news to report.

I always feel like I am sneaking parcels into the house, away from dh's beady eye.

Foxy, sounds like a good eBay buy. Hope it is as good as you dreamed it would be!

Off to check out school gate style now.

Shop, good luck for your dh tomorrow.

blondie Mimi Noor in Bath carry them.

Amber Inspector Clouseau your comment about Style Guile was really nice.

Well I'm prepared to admit when I'm wrong! I like your shoes btw!

shopafrolic Tue 26-Mar-13 07:08:17

Do any of you lovely ladies live in Bath? We're off near there on holiday after Easter. Any recoomendations on PM as to where's good to go with a 2yo DS very welcome. Thanks!

Annianni Tue 26-Mar-13 07:19:07

Those R&B shoes are lovely Drywhite.

And that Celine skirt is beautiful Foxy, hope it's ok when it arrives.

Dh is back at work today, so we'll have a nice quiet day at home.

shopafrolic Tue 26-Mar-13 07:51:15

I'm completely confused Amber and Drywhite - feel as though I'm missing out on an invite to a private party! Have you been outed as someone famous!?

Good morning everyone, some lovely purchases, well done on the Celine skirt foxy! I am a silver shoe fan too, also wedded to havaianas in summer, not convinced my feet will look so great in the lovely sandals being linked but am getting tempted!

I had yet another sofa day yesterday as DD came down with a vomiting bug...will the illnesses never end sad? The only consolation is the weather being so vile, at least we want to be indoors rather than feeling like we are missing spring sunshine!

Anyway, it was of course dangerous having so much time on my hands and I ended up shopping very optimistically for holidays....got these

vest top

lace top

white jumper

ysl bikini

I hesitated over the last as I am still traumatised by getting an almost new (full price) DVF bikini tangled on the velcro of ds2's coat in the laundry last year, it is now a bit fuzzy sad. Which brings me to my question for you all...what is your worst loss of an item of clothing, whether laundry disaster, spillage or actual loss? Along with the bikini I managed to shrink a gorgeous and much beloved baby alpaca sweater just before Christmas, I could have cried.

DonaIda order arriving today too, yay (and hopefully no DH in vicinity) wink

I had a fabulous peacock blue trench coat from Debenhams, perfect length, fit and colour for me. My sister borrowed it for a night out and it got stolen. I was really upset sad

MrsRadicchio Tue 26-Mar-13 08:33:36

Drywhite, if that is you, we have something in common. (mysterious)

I had a whistles jumper which was dark pink with a dog on the front...moths got to it.

Still haven't answered the best bargain question. Have been wracking my brain but can't think of anything. Have lots of things bought at reduced price but often they're things I think were over priced full price, eg whistles.

I think I need to buy less but better.

I think amber wins the crown for best bargain hunter, £1.99 goldsigns??! Speaking of which, has the door leather skirt arrived?

MrsRadicchio Tue 26-Mar-13 08:34:39

Dior!!!

MrsRadicchio Tue 26-Mar-13 08:36:48

Shop, I love bath. Haven't been for ages though. Spa and Jane Austen museum good but not child friendly, sorry not v helpful.

My best bargain was a DKNY dress that I bought for £10 in the House of Fraser outlet

Amber definitely wins best bargains grin.

Mine has to be my suede J Brands, £237 from £800.

The Dior leather skirt did arrive and was a bit too small sadly, so I rehomed it to a lovely, slimmer friend.

I lost my Rosie Sugden cashmere bobble hat on the tube a couple of weeks ago. It was £95 <sob>

McNally Tue 26-Mar-13 10:12:02

My worst loss was a gorgeous silk Mango top from when I was at college and didn't have huge amounts to spend on clothes. I'd bought it in Barcelona as the city where I was at college had few good shops. Someone asked to borrow it and I was too wussy to say no. She returned it, having put it through the washing machine, seemingly oblivious to the fact it was totally ruined hmm.

Have been reading the thread(s) but not posting. Various circumstances (going part time, paying a nanny, uncertainty re DH's job, blah, blah, blah) made me reign in my spending a bit.

Only recent purchase (to keep me going until we convince Madewell to ship those pointy leopard flats here) are these bargainous Office pointy flats. Wore them out once, the day it started to snow here, oops, but quite happy with them as a stop gap.

Absolutely love Bath shop, so very jealous of your break there. Went many times but per-DD so not much help on the child-friendly options. Also, hope things go well today for you and your DH.

MarshaBrady Tue 26-Mar-13 10:43:33

I don't suppose anyone has a White Company code, for a duvet cover for ds1.

I just did an Ocado sure there was one there but can't find it again.

<overdose on mc brands>

McNally Tue 26-Mar-13 11:32:32

I was looking for a White Company code yesterday Marsha. The best I found was 15% and free delivery with voucher codes.

Annianni Tue 26-Mar-13 11:34:19

I only know AB950 for 15% off and free delivery Marsha

MarshaBrady Tue 26-Mar-13 11:36:49

Thank you Anni and McNally, perfect!

Decameron Tue 26-Mar-13 11:48:23

Marsha, OCD35 for 20% off.

I shrank a Missoni sweater, I'd worn it once. I slumped on the floor beside the washing machine for a while after, mourning it.

I love your summery purchases, Sleep.

You could use myus.com (gives you a US shipping address and they forward it on) and get the Madewell shoes that way.

Bored of the cold now.

foxysocks Tue 26-Mar-13 12:20:14

great purchasing sleep. am channeling your summery optimism (and amber's after the summer dress blog the other day) and wearing an actual T SHIRT today. am so fed up with a. the cold and b. feeling ill.

it's this one pinterest.com/pin/250231323018296862/ which I almost charity shopped as I'm a bit bored with it (bought it after DD was born so it's five years old) but actually I still really like it and it's worn/washed v well. so will give it another summer at least

layered (ha) over a white vest with the same old distressed boyfriend jeans and a green boyfriend cardigan (years old again, from urban outfitters)

Marsha if not too late 20% White Co code from Ocado is OCD35

Feeling a bit bad bringing everyone down about things they've loved and lost now sadgrin

Amber love your new slippers...and lucky friend getting that skirt envy

winefairy Tue 26-Mar-13 12:45:25

Was offline for a few days but after a quick skim through what I've missed I'm loving the pink studded Ash and I'm deeply envious of the fabulous holiday shopping. We have several trips lined up this summer but strangely none of them are beach holidays that would require separate 'holiday' purchases. All city breaks.

We too go to CP about 4 times a year (and embarrassingly we once went 9 times one year! Long story and thankfully we've broadened our horizons since then). We've just discovered the new lodges with the lovely big sauna so we've rebooked one of those for May.

I trust everyone else is hating the cold as much as me. I'm itching to wear some of my new purchases. Relieved that my Marant eBay jacket arrived and is perfect. Only recent purchase is dull but practical shoes.

QueenCadbury Tue 26-Mar-13 12:51:53

shop I don't know of anything in bath except that there's a good park. I think mrscampbellblack lives in bath.

I think I've mentioned it before but dh ruined a cardigan of mine by washing it. It was only a gap one but a really lovely shade of teal that I've never been able to find anything similar since.

I've lost all motivation to buy anything in this freezing cold weather.

QueenCadbury Tue 26-Mar-13 12:52:31

wine love those shoes!

winefairy Tue 26-Mar-13 12:59:29

Thanks, QueenC. I was lured in by the reduction.

foxysocks Tue 26-Mar-13 13:03:01

nice ballerinas winefairy, i looked at the leopard print flats but not pointy, boo.

yellow belt arrived, it's awful. very dull colour and TINY. already repackaged to take to PO in a bit.

winefairy Tue 26-Mar-13 13:12:12

And another confession. I love, love, love RHOBH too, Drywhite blush

I developed a real crush on Kyle even though she became a bit of a mean girl. I even started to warm to Camille. Definitely my favourite RHO series by far. We have pretty basic channels though so have to rely on ITV2 so Season 2 has just finished.

DH is shocked at my love of this show as I hardly watch tv.

McNally Tue 26-Mar-13 13:19:40

Also a RHOBH fan here blush. Not much of a fan of their style though. Lisa was my favourite but the baby pink satin dresses seemed such an odd fit with her personality. DH cannot understand why I watch at all but it is my guilty pleasure. Actually, I don't even feel guilty about it!

Annianni Tue 26-Mar-13 13:23:01

Lovely purchases Sleep. I love the bikini and the white knit.

My yellow belt is out for delivery Foxy, I won't bother unpacking it, i'll just put the return label on.

I'm so sick of this weather and being cold.

The grey boots are on their way, so they might cheer me up. Oh, and the navy plastic cardigan from AR.

winefairy Tue 26-Mar-13 13:28:08

I looked at them too, foxy but I think I need to try on some pointy ones first to check what my wide feet look like in them.

The Project D on Brand Alley reminded me of my clothes disaster. Bought this Project D dress for an eye watering £400 for a wedding abroad and promptly spilt an after dinner Baileys down it. Didn't even make it to the evening reception unscathed. Was fairly gutted.

shopafrolic Tue 26-Mar-13 13:53:22

So DH has been made redundant..... Expected, but gutted nonetheless.

MarshaBrady Tue 26-Mar-13 13:57:03

Ah Shop so sorry to hear that.

Decameron Tue 26-Mar-13 13:58:02

Shop, I am really sorry to hear that.

winefairy Tue 26-Mar-13 14:06:58

shop really, really sorry to hear that. Expected doesn't lessen the blow either I would imagine. Sending hugs.

santamarianovella Tue 26-Mar-13 14:10:09

sorry to hear that shop.

McNally Tue 26-Mar-13 14:13:42

Oh shop, that's rubbish. I am so sorry to hear that.

QueenCadbury Tue 26-Mar-13 14:15:57

Have some wine shop

Annianni Tue 26-Mar-13 14:22:56

So sorry to hear that Shop.

Adding to the commiserations shop, really sorry to hear that. Hopefully he'll find a new, better job and you'll have lots of redundancy money as a bonus.

noviceoftheday Tue 26-Mar-13 14:33:41

Oh I am so sorry Shop. Hugs for you, dh and the dcs. x

justasecond Tue 26-Mar-13 14:44:39

Sorry to hear that Shop. DH was made redundant a few years ago but really it turned out well as he found a new job straight away and we had the redundancy cash, you never know sometimes these things seem awful at the time but really are for the better. Stay positive and I hope something turns up soon.

MrsRadicchio Tue 26-Mar-13 14:46:43

Really sorry to hear that, SHOP, too.

noviceoftheday Tue 26-Mar-13 15:10:18

I decided to brave it and do my business trip today about 30 mins before the car was due to pick me up. I have just landed and run around the airport buying toothbrush and toothpaste. I didn't even remember I hadn't packed them till I went into the shop looking for lozenges. Methinks I should have stayed at home blush.

As an aside.... Shop, don't even think of leaving the thread as you said a couple of weeks ago. Its not just about new purchases and it wouldn't be the same without you. x

Really sorry to hear that Shop. I'm in the same boat with DP, he got made redundant three weeks ago and is desperately hunting for a new job, they are just thin on the ground at the minute. Hope things turn out ok for you.

Sorry Shop xx

shopafrolic Tue 26-Mar-13 15:39:38

Thanks all - that's very good of you and has set me off weeping. Sorry to hear you're in the same situation (and welcome?) OneLittleLady
Although this was expected it still feels totally shit and incredibly unfair. DH is a very proud man, fingers crossed he gets something quickly and it will all be for the good. He has already had a couple of interviews but the roles weren't suitable so fingers crossed it won't take too long.
It's been quite interesting to have to stop myself shopping. I still look at Outnet etc but I try and see if I can spot things you guys might like instead!
Anyway, onwards and upwards. I don't want to drag the thread down.
Amber those slippers in your blog are amazing!
And after all the cryptic messages I'm still none the wiser as to which other bloggers we have amongst us!

Thank you Shop. DP got a call about an interview a few minutes ago so things are potentially looking up. Fingers crossed he gets it as we are really going to struggle if not. Positive thoughts though, positive thoughts.

Topazandpearl Tue 26-Mar-13 16:43:22

So sorry shop. Sending best wishes and good luck to you and onelittlelady and your DHs.

foxysocks Tue 26-Mar-13 17:38:26

so sorry shop, hugs to you and onelittlelady xx

shopandonelittlelady so sorry. Redundancy is crushing.
shop I'm really famous grin
sleep your holiday wardrobe is so much nicer than mine
McNally those office pointy shoes are gorgeous
MrsRadiccio who are you? PM me...I'm dying to know!!!!!
these arrived today. Cheap but really nice on and look great with bf jeans. The only problem is my skin is soooooooo pale it matches the shoes and from a distance you can barely see them!!grin

MrsRadicchio Tue 26-Mar-13 19:18:32

Oh, drywhite, i fear i have made it seem more exciting than it is.

What is everyone wearing to keep warm? I have a quilted coat from gap which is ancient. I'm not keen on it but end up wearing it loads as its the warmest thing i have. So, for next winter i want to get a v warm coat i really like...am looking for inspiration. Any suggestions?

Am also keen to get a charcoal wool beanie / bobble hat, anyone seen any?

I almost bought a Zoe karrson top from the outnet today (will link later as on phone now) but have decided to hold out to see if i can find the Paris one.

foxysocks Tue 26-Mar-13 19:37:00

I've got a Barbour padded coat MrsR. Not sure on style name but its olive, knee length, big pockets, big fur lined hood and, most importantly, SO WARM without any bulk at all. I got it in harrods and they do a yearly summer maintenance thing where you send it off and they re water proof it or something.

MarshaBrady Tue 26-Mar-13 19:50:08

Thanks for White Co code Decam, constantly getting emails, but never at right time. So pleased I've actually used one!

Sleep love your summery buys.

Wine love the ballet flats.

My worst disaster would be the other week, a Stella McCartney oversized jumper that became so undersized and felted after I washed it I had to throw it away. Felt so bad for it, like I'd let it down. Sorry little Stella jumper.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Tue 26-Mar-13 19:58:07

Evening all.
Wanted to add my commiserations, shop. A few years ago DH left a job that was dragging him down and we started up on our own with 4 weeks notice - best thing we ever did. It has been hard (especially starting a new business during a recession) but rewarding, so don't despair - you never know what's coming. Please stick around here though - style is permanent, remember?
I've been suffering a shopping disorder recently, ie ordering all sorts only to send it back. The Michael Kors watch arrived on Monday and, while it is beautiful, I felt I couldn't really justify it, so it went back. I also cancelled the order for the Gigis, but have a feeling I might get them after all as I can't find anything else I like as much. Hoping for a bit of sunshine and warmth to inspire me first.

MarshaBrady Tue 26-Mar-13 20:00:21

Yes it's a bit like suspended animation waiting for the weather to improve. No point in buying winter stuff still, and still so cold.

Shop you must stay, it's lovely just to have you here, the shopping is incidental.

foxysocks Tue 26-Mar-13 20:06:47

No min doesn't have a belt. Hang on...

Result! Just checked the &Other Stories website (as every other day) and my lovely ballerinas are available in my size again. So I have re-bought. Hoping the 36 fits perfectly as the 37s were huge. I did love them and almost kept them in the too-big size. Glad I didn't now.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman Tue 26-Mar-13 20:17:22

Love that grey cashmere shop. That's why we need you here smile

shopafrolic Tue 26-Mar-13 20:25:33

Good news Grumpy - I so wish i'd bought that yellow bag when it was available......

shopafrolic Tue 26-Mar-13 20:26:34

Nice coat Foxy - I'm living in my Land's End quilted coat at the moment. Not stylish but v warm.

shopafrolic Tue 26-Mar-13 20:36:40

Loads of gorgeous Marni jewellery on the Outnet

Oh Shop I was lusting after a Barbour Arctic Parka last night.......I think I'll save up, I'm done with SS it's soooooo over (!!).....wonder if there's any way of getting one with discount....calling Amber

I'm also looking for a red statement necklace if anyone sees one and a b and w Chanel-style jacket sans the £££££ price tag.

McNally Tue 26-Mar-13 20:45:20

Lovely Cashmere jumpers shop. Need to look at the Outnet more often, seen some great stuff linked on this thread. Gutted to have missed their clearance sale. Particularly loved the I&I stripy sweater Amber had on her blog.

Good news on the &Other Stories goodies Grumpy. Had a quick look in there the other weekend but it was heaving and I was about to be late for the hairdresser so didn't have time to try anything. Need to go back.

I am not keeping warm MrsR. I have mentally put my winter coats away! Housebound at the mo due to DD having a tummy bug so staying toasty inside.

libertychick Tue 26-Mar-13 21:34:29

Shop so sorry to hear about your DH - redundancy is such a shock but you will come through it. I left my job last Oct because the uncertainty about the future was driving me crazy - working freelance now and while that has it's own stresses I made a good decision.

Enjoying all the lovely links - too busy and too cold to shop myself...totally confused by the Drywhite and MrsR mystery lives...

Actually I did buy one thing- a navy cross body leather bag in Gap at the weekend at 40% off - they are not on the website. And I found this under the desk in one of the offices I freelance in - so busy I completely forgot to return it blush - I have decided its ok but not worth £62.

And I am in the process of buying this beauty for my 15 year old sister - probably won't tell her I had an almost identical one at about the same age grin.

Liberty no mystery, although I'm enjoying the intrigue !!!!! Amber has amazing detective powers and asked if this was me.

libertychick Tue 26-Mar-13 21:56:56

Ahhhh I see - the R&B shoes....

justasecond Tue 26-Mar-13 22:14:45

Evening all!
Liberty I like that silk tee, lovely colour.
I am still pondering what to wear for an eve do in a few weeks. Atm am thinking light pink silk shirt with long sleeves with navy silky tapered trousers and sort of dull/rose gold pointy courts and a rose gold statement bracelet. Not many of any of these items in my size out there though (apart from bracelet, have not even started looking for that!)
Like everyone else, sick of the weather although I must admit find winter dressing easier.
I really like those pointy Madewell pumps too. These are nice if anyone is after a pointy pair of nude ones

santamarianovella Tue 26-Mar-13 22:41:35

drywhite Lagence do chanel inspired tweed jackets,i bought one from shopbop, sorry cant link!!,it not black and white but cream, but i think i saw it in black too in saks. it dosent compare to the real thing but its a pretty close match.

libertychick Tue 26-Mar-13 22:47:09

Justasecond love the sound of the proposed outfit so went browsing on your behalf! How about these
Mango navy tapered trousers or
not the brief but lovely and loose and would work with the pink or
also off brief but beautiful and

pale pink silky blouse or this
I&I one or
not pale pink but stunning colour or
this coral blouse

justasecond Tue 26-Mar-13 23:01:20

Hi Liberty! thankyou so much for your suggestions. I really like the Mango trousers. I actually just ordered these v similar ones
mango trs
bargain! Also like the leopard print, had not considered printed trousers..
Love the I&I and malene birger blouses but did not really want to spend that much. I actually loved this HM one
pink silk shirt
but sold out in my size. I already have the yellow one and its not bad for the price.
I did look at the Phase 8 one but think I need something I can tuck in otherwise may look a bit sloppy?

justasecond Tue 26-Mar-13 23:07:06

I was thinking these sort of shoes
wish they were cheaper

libertychick Tue 26-Mar-13 23:09:01

Well done on the Mango trousers Justasecond - that H&M blouse is lovely - all remaining colours gone in my size otherwise I would have ordered it - must check out the shop. H&M have some great printed trousers ATM - I am trying to find time to pop in and have a trying on session.
I know what you mean about the style of the phase 8 one - I have bought a couple in the past in that style but never felt I looked right in them.

libertychick Tue 26-Mar-13 23:11:58

Have you tried Aldo for shoes?

justasecond Tue 26-Mar-13 23:21:42

I like those Aldo ones but don't think I can manage above 8cm heel.
I actually quite liked these but both sold out in my size (7)
gold toe
or
although may be too shiny

Wow, lots of links since 8pm! I have been out with DH, just back and on my way to bed so will catch up properly and have a look at everything tomorrow, but I wore my full lengthy shearling - warmest coat ever. Am so glad I have it, it would definitely be one of the things I would save from a fire...still pondering the other two, its too difficult!

Chat tomorrow. Hope you are ok and have had a few wine Shop

carrie74 Wed 27-Mar-13 02:48:21

[waves] Greetings from Florida! Have just caught up after being wifi free for 3 days shock.

So sorry to hear the redundancy news, and hope something even better turns up for you both v v soon.

Have also been following the saga of the endless winter while we've been here. Does it help if I tell you that the last 2 days have been the coldest since 1979? Was 15C today. Brrr. Not helping? Sorry.

Managed a bit of shopping while in Orlando. Got myself a lovely pair of Gigis, for the princely sum of $65: shop.nordstrom.com/S/sam-edelman-gigi-sandal/3500872?origin=category&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=&resultback=500

Plus a sackful of bra and pants from Victorias Secret, and loads of clothes for the kiddies from Old Navy: just basic Ts and shorts, plus swimmers for DD, as they'll only get stained and bobbly by the end of the summer.

Still have a pretty long shopping list to get through...

Drywhite, it's you who's off to Orlando this week, isn't it? Have an amazing time! Let me know if you need any tips. smile Florida Mall good for general shopping (it's HUGE), and Mall at Millenia good for higher end. We're now in Cape Coral, shopping won't be quite so straightforward, but am planning a trip to a mega outlet mall which is tremaze (went last year and got some super bargainous Paige jeans): www.miromaroutlets.com/

noviceoftheday Wed 27-Mar-13 07:02:49

Hello! Having been all smug about having spent bugger all this month, I am contemplating spending <whispers> an obscene amount of money today. blush. Can I ask if anyone has tanzanite jewelry? Everything I have read says easily scratched etc etc.

Annianni Wed 27-Mar-13 07:21:52

<Waves to Carrie> hope you're having a fabulous time.

Now Novice... You know we'll need a link grin

I have no experience of tanzanite though, sorry.

Start a thread asking on here, there's a few jewellery experts on s&b.

FrugalFashionista Wed 27-Mar-13 07:30:37

Novice I have a tanzanite silver ring - very beautiful colors but broken. Scratched stone, beyond repair as it's a flat stone and the scratch is quite deep. Talked to a jeweler about it and he said these stones are quite frail. I love semiprecious stones and have worn them every day for years (big silver cocktail rings with chunky amethysts, garnets, rose and smoky and green quartz, turquoises) but tanzanite didn't survive my lifestyle. The quartz rings can scratch too but the scratches are almost invisible.

FrugalFashionista Wed 27-Mar-13 07:38:07

Oh and Novice labradorite can be a good alternative if you like the peacock feather iridescence but don't want to pay a lot - soft and frail too but ime much more affordable. Would avoid both stones in rings, they make more sense in earrings, necklaces etc.

libertychick Wed 27-Mar-13 07:54:31

envy at carrie's holiday and novice's jewellery shopping. Have fun both.

Sleep I want <need> a shearling coat....

Sun shining today although still cold so feeling happier!
