What happened to the loose half a stone before christmas thread? Is there one for Easter?

Karbea Sat 23-Feb-13 18:01:49

Because I need one.

As if by magic I've put on a dress size sad
I'm rubbish at dieting and exercise, but this has upset me. I'd like some friends to egg me on and stop me falling off the diet (eat takeaways) and exercise (lull on the sofa) wagon...

DancingRoundTheKitchen Sat 23-Feb-13 19:31:40

I'm going on hols at Easter, which will mean wearing a swimming costume - arrggh!
I'd like to shed at least half a stone before I go, so count me in.
I've got the my fitness pal app on my phone and have been attempting the 30 day shred (which doesn't seem to be making any difference!)

Karbea Sat 23-Feb-13 19:36:40

Ive both of those too.
Think I'm going to do a detox thurs/fri as DH is away for a few days.

SayHelloToMyLittleFriend Sat 23-Feb-13 19:43:25

Can I join too please? I'm going on holiday in May and would love to have lost half a stone by then. I keep saying I'll start my shred dvd but so far haven't bothered so maybe this will motivate me.

DancingRoundTheKitchen Sat 23-Feb-13 19:52:54

I know all I need to do is eat less and exercise more and I know I can do it - before having children I went from a size 18 to a size 8! But since having the DC I have put on lots of it back on. I'm currently a 14/16 so aiming for half a stone by Easter and another half a stone by my birthday in the summer.

DancingRoundTheKitchen Sat 23-Feb-13 19:53:54

Just wish I could find the motivation!

Join the "Motivation" thread over in weightloss, that's what we're all aboutsmile.
I started the "eat less, exercise more" in July, and have dropped 4st 3 so far, and gone from size 18 to size 8/10. With motivation it can be done.

DancingRoundTheKitchen Sat 23-Feb-13 20:04:28

InMySpareTime that is amazing! Well done! Will check out the thread now.

Karbea Sat 23-Feb-13 20:32:02

Omg inmysparetime that's amazing!

I'm not saying it was always easy, I needed to address my attitude to food and learn to enjoy all my food instead of just eating without thinking, but a steady 2lb a week, every week, over a few months really adds up.

Karbea Sun 24-Feb-13 20:57:51

Hello all,

I've had my last pig out, lazy weekend before the new me starts tomorrow ;)
Tomorrow I'm going to go for a run, first one in a long time!

LaVitaBellissima Sun 24-Feb-13 21:03:13

I'm in, going to dust off the 30 day shred and eat healthier and it down my portion sizes.

5 weeks till Easter, I'd like to lose 10lbs by then.
Just putting it out there. Currently am 10st 7lbs and 5ft 6. Am completely flat chested so need to be slim, my goal is 8st12

We can do it ladies!

Can I join? My attempt to lose weight in time for Christmas was an epic failure which resulted in me putting weight on. I don't have loads to lose but am currently 10lbs above my happy weight (however a week ago I was 12lbs over so have made some progress!) The last few lbs are always the hardest to lose though- I have to be ridiculously strict to lose any weight at all sad

Am good at eating healthy meals but I have a weakness for hot chocolate and little snacks. Fruit/ salad/ carrot sticks just don't cut it when I want bread/cake/chocolate/biscuits etc! grin It should help me that DH is on a healthy eating kick (having lost 5.5 stone last year) but all it means is that when he's out I stuff my face blush

I pigged out a bit yesterday but today have been good. Need to stay busy as I tend to comfort eat when I'm alone. I'm going away with DH in 2 weeks for a long weekend (first holiday ever without the kids - well, since having them 7 years ago) so would like to be a bit trimmer so I can squeeze into my swimming costume! Karbea I might attempt a run tomorrow too - it'll be my first in years blush

FrantasticO Sun 24-Feb-13 21:10:22

Link to motivation thread please and another member for this one!

I'm a size up after quitting the cigs 2 months ago... And miserable.

Would rather be thinner and miserable so im in if you will have me!grin

FrantasticO Sun 24-Feb-13 21:12:31

Ok 2littlemonkeys big breath I'm 11 st and 5' 8"

FrantasticO Sun 24-Feb-13 21:13:45

Oh and I'm so flat chested I have 2 backs...if we are being competitive! grin

Karbea Sun 24-Feb-13 21:15:12

Cool twolittlemonkeys let me know how you get on. lavita I've 39 day shred, I've only ever done level one two days in a row :S

I used to be really good at not snacking as before I lived with DH I wouldn't have anything like crisps, biscuits etc in my flat but DH seems to buy them but doesn't eat them, but I've NO self control and I pig out on them, I've had 5 jumbo cookies this afternoon sad but it's all good as I'm going to turn over a new leaf tomorrow!

RobinSparkles Sun 24-Feb-13 21:17:01

Please can I join? I would, ideally, like to lose a stone for summer but half a stone for Easter would be a good start!

I'm crap at healthy eating, my sweet tooth really lets me down.

Karbea Sun 24-Feb-13 21:17:17

Oh I've big boobs they make me look fatter than I am sad

Karbea Sun 24-Feb-13 21:19:05

That should read "even fatter" my biggest issue is my pudgy belly and fat hips, when I was thiner my boobs were smaller too, which I much preferred. I hate having big boobs.

FrantasticO Sun 24-Feb-13 21:26:16

karbea believe me if you have to have extra wt then why not on the boob?
I'm jealous!

Right off o clear my mind cupboards for tomorrow!

RobinSparkles Sun 24-Feb-13 21:32:09

My boobs always seem to stay the same. They've been the same size for years - it's my waist that changes!

Shodan Sun 24-Feb-13 22:01:30

I'll join you, if you don't mind!

I appear to have put on over half a stone over the last couple of months (ahem. That might have something to do with the large bars/bags of chocolate and packets of crisps I keep eating) and worse, I am now on a low dosage of anti-d's for my insomnia, which have the effect of making me look at the scales and say 'Oh well. Not that bad!'.

So I need an added incentive. We 've finished the last of the crisps and chocolate tonight, so the diet begins tomorrow. I'll also be starting the 30 day shred again.

So. Currently 11st 8lbs, and 5'8".

(I'm actually a little bit ashamed of myself, seeing it written down. That's a good thing.)

FrantasticO Sun 24-Feb-13 22:12:37

Shodan my cupboards are clear too.
We are roughly same stats.
I will try keep up with you !
Oh if only food wasn't an option...

Shodan Sun 24-Feb-13 22:21:12

Hah, FrantasticO- you already have a half stone head start on me grin

I wish I could look forward to, say, a nice apple the same way as I look forward to chocolate. Maybe with determined effort it'll happen. hmm

Right so. It starts tomorrow. 2lb a week, or thereabouts. I think so long as I'm 10 st something, I'll be ok with that (I have a fair amount of muscle tone already due to karate.)

Hmm. Yes. We can do it.

FrantasticO Sun 24-Feb-13 22:25:15

We can do it!
I NEED to my heads all over the place and clothes are very very tight!

So tomorrow is the day of reckoning...will look forward to feeling better.

Shodan Sun 24-Feb-13 22:29:57

Yes- even my old faithful always-a-little-bit-loose jeans are feeling too snug right now.

We will feel better.

Mantra when thinking longingly of chocolate.

FrantasticO Sun 24-Feb-13 22:34:57

Chocolate is the same colour as ...

Now if we can only think it smells like....

We will be half way there!

Shodan Sun 24-Feb-13 22:41:37

Karbea Sun 24-Feb-13 22:50:16

Ok how about we aim for 2lb a week and weigh ins on Monday?

Just had an email from my friends who I see rarely, they are all single and stunning, we're going out for dinner on the 15th so that's a good short term goal for me!

FrantasticO Sun 24-Feb-13 23:02:52

Ah they are not that stunning if they are all single!!

2lbs...I'm in!

FrantasticO Sun 24-Feb-13 23:06:08

That was meant in jest before I have the women's liberation camping at my doorstep...

Will I name change now or was an apology enough?

Karbea Sun 24-Feb-13 23:42:59

Apology was fine, stunning and fussy!

Champagnecharleyismyname Mon 25-Feb-13 09:11:38

Please can I join, I am 9st 12lbs and 5ft 4in. I have a small frame and really want to get at least half a stone off.

No more fad diets, healthy eating and exercise.

LaVitaBellissima Mon 25-Feb-13 09:38:39

I am going to make a vegetable soup today, think I am going to do 1 soup day a week (bit like the 2 day fast diet)

I have a few tips that helped me lose my twin tummy 2 years ago which as reappeared over Christmas

*drink 8 glasses of water a day - I put 8 elastic bands round the glass and remove 1 every time I finish
*eat my 5 a day, 2 pieces of fruit and at least 3 portions of veg a day
*walk at lunchtime every day
*30 day shred starts again tonight

Also if you fancy a biscuit, that's fine but follow the 30minute rule, you can have it but you have to wait 30 minutes, I drink a glass of water, eat a piece of fruit first. If I still want the biscuit fine but often I fine that after that little bit of willpower I decide against it. If you want another biscuit after the first you have to do the same, fruit, water wait half an hour!

Wishing everyone lots of good luck and Willpower, we can do it!

DancingRoundTheKitchen Mon 25-Feb-13 09:49:18

Hi everyone, I had a pretty good weekend ( after a terrible Friday!)
I'm going to weigh on Fridays but will post any good news on here! I'm aiming for 2lb per week. I am only 5foot1 but weigh 11stone1. I actually need to loose 2 stone but half a stone by my holiday at Easter would be a great start!
I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to squeeze in the shred today, got a really busy one. I'm really going to try though. I'm stuck on level2, tried level3 and had to phone it in give up!

Karbea Mon 25-Feb-13 10:35:56

I've manged to do 20mins jog and shred level 1 day 1. Feeling very good. Just need to avoid the evils that are biscuits, icecream, crisps etc, etc, etc...

RobinSparkles Mon 25-Feb-13 11:13:15

I'm going to buy the Shred DVD. I got it on loveFilm once and only did a few days of level one and then gave up blush.

JeffFaFa Mon 25-Feb-13 11:19:17

I'll join too i want to get in shape for summer mainly, im 5'6 and weigh 8 stone 9, dosent sound alot but im flabby with it, i consider myself skinny fat, i was 8 stone 3 before christmas and that was after getting down from 11.8 so i know i can do it!

mrspolkadotty Mon 25-Feb-13 12:46:41

Count me in! I have lost/gained/lost/gained the same 1/2 stone in the past 12 months. I have a pic taken on holiday when DD2 was 7 weeks old and i looked a damn sight better in a bikini than i do now shock. I seem to do the baby weight thing arse-backwards lol. Slim when pregnant, skinny when bf then put weight on when they get to around 6m.

Had fruit & yoghurt for breakfast, I've got some hm lentil & veg soup and a granary roll for dinner then we're having hm fish, chips & peas for tea. I oven-bake the fish and chips, not fry and will have a smaller portion that the heaped plate i usually have. Snacks will be raw veg/fruit/low fat philly and rice cakes. Sounds good written down, lets see if i stick to it!

In fact i'm off to print out the bikini pic and stick it on the fridge

mrspolkadotty Mon 25-Feb-13 12:48:12

Oh forgot i'm 5'2 and 9st 13

Shodan Mon 25-Feb-13 12:55:00

Had a good start to the day- greek yoghurt, small banana and honey fro breakfast instead of my usual toast dripping with butter and marmalade. A little blip at around 11 when a small bag of Frazzle-type crisps jumped into my mouth, but back on track with salad for lunch.

I also did the Shred, but started at level 1 again as it's been a couple of weeks since I attempted any Shredding (and that was at level 2)- don't want to put myself off! A gentle lead-in is the way to go, I think.

Karbea Mon 25-Feb-13 13:26:51

Hey all,

I had 10 almonds for my morning snack and a tuna salad for lunch. The afternoon is when I tend to snack tho, so hard bit of the day is ahead of me. All I can think about is biscuits!

shodan I've never managed 10days in a row so only ever done stage one. But I'm determined this time!

RobinSparkles Mon 25-Feb-13 13:47:44

Ok, I weighed myself this morning and I'm 8 stone 13 and a half (so I'll say 9 stone) and I'm 5'3.

I've not done too badly today except I was offered a biscuit at school and took it without thinking.
I need to excercise - I used to walk miles every day but DD2 (now 2) is a pushchair refuser and will walk to school but it means that power walking is out! It's a real pain because I enjoy walking.

scabbysnake Mon 25-Feb-13 13:54:50

Hi, can I join in?
My sister is getting married mid may & I'm moh.
I really want to lose at least a stone. I've been putting it off since new year & now I need to get my butt in gear!
I've been such a pig the last few months & pretty much eating what I want so today it stops. I eat pretty healthy meals it's just the amount & the evening when the kids are in bed.
I had 2 weetabix, wiv half a banana & a few strawberries for breakfast. For lunch I had grilled mushrooms, scrambled egg & some plum tomatoes - my attempt at cutting my carbs! Chicken, salad & a bit of cous cous for tea.
I will weigh myself tomorrow. Have brought lots of healthy food today so I have no excuse. Also made carrot, lentil & tomato soup so will take that for lunch tomorrow & lunches the rest of the week.

scabbysnake Mon 25-Feb-13 13:56:30

I'm also going to get on my cross trainer 3x a week- mayb I'll do that while kids are in bed to try not to snack!

DancingRoundTheKitchen Mon 25-Feb-13 17:24:14

Karbea - shred & a jog?? I'm very impressed, going to do a load of sit ups once the children have gone to bed.
Scabbysnake - a wedding is such a good target. I managed to lose a stone before my sister's wedding and felt great. Then I had another baby and piled on 31/2 stone!
I did manage to fit in doing the shred today and have had a good day food wise.
Has anyone got any tips for low calorie but tasty, treat type foods?

DancingRoundTheKitchen Mon 25-Feb-13 17:25:52

That is three and a half stone not 31/32 stone!

Karbea Mon 25-Feb-13 17:35:59

Yes but this is my problem I start well then after about two days it all goes massively wrong.

LaVitaBellissima Mon 25-Feb-13 18:34:19

I had 2 cups of tea for breakfast, had grilled turkey steak with green beans and capers for lunch, and have had half a banana and a milky coffee as a snack.

Once the girls are in bed I am going to Shred, still need to make my veg soup and will have a small bowl of that for dinner.

I also have a DP who fills the house with crisps, chocolates, biscuits and ice cream - it's not exactly supportive is it!

RobinSparkles Mon 25-Feb-13 19:13:41

I know! I went to the shop for bread and milk before, DH: while you're there get me a bag of m & ms!"

Grr! But I resisted the temptation to buy anything for myself, which is NOT like me!

DancingRoundTheKitchen Tue 26-Feb-13 12:24:18

I just took a trip back to the 1990's and did the Cindy Crawford shape your body work out.
Soooo much easier than shred and much bigger hair!

Karbea Tue 26-Feb-13 18:43:55

I jogged and shredded this morning.

This afternoon I've had a cookie, packet of crisps and one twix finger sad

Karbea Wed 27-Feb-13 08:50:45

Right just jogged for 30mins and done shred level one day 3. I can really feel the shred, I ache pretty much everywhere!
Need to try a bit harder with food today especially as DH and I are going out for dinner tonight.

How are you all doing?

Shodan Wed 27-Feb-13 09:58:44

A slight malfunction last night which caused me to eat a Crunchie. It's no wonder I never lose weight! Although actually according to MFP it came within my calorie allowance, so that's ok.

I did Shred yesterday and the day before but I haven't worked up the energy to do it yet- I think I must've overdone it a bit (I have a habit of doing that) and I ache today. Quite a lot really.

Not doing too badly re: food though and don't feel as bloated, especially as I've cut right down on wheaty stuff, so fingers crossed.

Shodan Wed 27-Feb-13 10:00:05

I'm never sure (and this is despite 11 years of karate training!!) whether it's better to try and work through aching muscles or give them a day's rest. Anyone know?

Karbea Wed 27-Feb-13 11:12:01

I don't know, but I ache, I'm thinking as you are supposed to do shred everyday you must work through them :S

DancingRoundTheKitchen Wed 27-Feb-13 13:33:06

Hi! I did workout 2 of the cindy Crawford shape your body. It has been nice to have a break from shred but god, I ache and after the 'gut busters' today I don't think I'll be able to get out of bed tomorrow!
Been ok food wise. Weigh in on Friday, I really hope I've lost something!

awaywego1 Wed 27-Feb-13 13:48:13

Can I join-I'm feeling very demotivated at the moment-weight not shifting. Am 9.8 and want to be 9.0-I'm 5.2. Can't do much exercise so will mainly be focusing on reducing snacks, carbs and drinking more water.

RobinSparkles Wed 27-Feb-13 14:07:21

I'm impressed with all the shredding and jogging going on. I've done no excercise what so ever blush but I'm logging what I eat with MFP and doing ok with that.

Pay day today so I shall be buying the Shred and then there's no excuses. I'm not looking forward to it though, it's going to kill me. I'm sooo unfit!

Karbea Thu 28-Feb-13 09:18:23

How are we all doing?

I had Chinese for dinner last night! I did warn you food was my vice!

BUT, I have done shred this morning and a light 20min jog. I'm doing the David Kirsch 48hr detox and have had the first drink. I maybe eating my arm by this afternoon!

DancingRoundTheKitchen Thu 28-Feb-13 13:05:19

I was just doing the shred. Got half way through and turned it off - I just could not be arsed! I think I have excercise fatigue, going to have a few days off the shred and try and do some outdoor excercise over the weekend.
Weigh day tomorrow - arrggh!

RobinSparkles Thu 28-Feb-13 13:39:01

What's the David Kirsch detox, Karbea?

I've not done so good - I've just had a salt and vinegar crisp buttie. Healthy! hmm

Shodan Thu 28-Feb-13 13:42:58

I took a day off the shred yesterday but did level two today. Have supposedly got karate tonight (which MFP reckons burns up loads of calories!!) but Tuesday's was cancelled, so we'll see.

TBH I'm not sure how I'm doing, food-wise, as I haven't been totting it up on MFP. I feel like I'm eating less and have definitely cut down on the chocolate, so hopefully I won't ruin it all over the weekend ready to weigh in on Monday.

RobinSparkles Thu 28-Feb-13 13:57:08

I'm definitely waiting until Monday to weigh myself. If I weigh myself tomorrow I'll use any weight I've lost to pig out over the weekend.

Champagnecharleyismyname Thu 28-Feb-13 14:46:04

I have been using my fitness pal on my phone so I am hoping that has helped. It had made me realise all the empty calories I have been taking in! Red wine especially.

I have a half hour window for the gym when DDs are in swimming so I am trying to talk myself into it rather than coffee in the cafe.

DancingRoundTheKitchen Fri 01-Mar-13 08:13:49

Had a disaster last night, take away and a bar of chocolate.
Really don't want to weigh in now!
We are away for the weekend so that is going to be a disaster too! Think I'll start again on Monday!

Karbea Fri 01-Mar-13 10:22:18

I'm on Day 2 of the Detox, tomorrow I get to eat something!

It's actually been surprisingly easy. I'm not sure whether to exercose today or not as I feel pretty tired and I've alot of housework todo...
