A continuation of style and beauty chat. All welcome.

shopafrolic Fri 15-Feb-13 13:46:52

MarshaBrady Fri 15-Feb-13 13:58:15

Good one Shop!

Snap Novice on glorious lunch. Back later.

Bonsoir Fri 15-Feb-13 14:57:18

Thanks smile.

Had great lunch with a girlfriend in a seriously delicious resturant, L'Abri. And then ran over to Tara Jarmon on Champs-Elysées and ended up buying the jacket that matches yesterday's skirt, rather than the green one (which was a weird cut on me, and the colour wasn't great for me either - would be fab on an olive skinned brunette if there are any among you). And also a bright yellow skirt, the one called "Jupe Trapèze" on the site, with two patch pockets (but no yellow, just black, on the website).

I desperately need some more tops and cardigans!

Helmut tee arrived - is amazing! Also can't get over the fact I can

Sigh... Order something from the states and get it more quickly and cheaply than if I ordered it from Matches >1 mile down the road!

libertychick Fri 15-Feb-13 21:28:58

Wow we filled that last thread up fast!

Shop I like these nude flats - haven't tried them on yet.

Lovely shopping Bonsoir the sunglasses are gorgeous. envy at the descriptions of your day in Paris. and envy novice's day out <I need a day out>

Marsha work is a bore, even when it's good I can think of things I rather be doing! Regular treats are essential.

TKMaxx find today this cardi for £30 smile

Great reduced jean links on here......if I was a 24 waist!!!! I thought 27 was small sad
Anyway loving the blogs hopefully and amber
Really looking fwd to my (childless ) trip to London next week. Am planning my (very) capsule wardrobe already!!!!am meeting an old school friend I haven't seen for 25 yrs .....( obviously last saw her when I was 5! wink) so my capsule wardrobe needs to be fabulously effortlessly chic and age reducing!!!grin

shopafrolic Fri 15-Feb-13 21:44:44

Thanks liberty, I think I need something a little darker but i like the metal detail. The Floretes I have are the perfect colour. Just need to replicate in a flat.
Well done on the TK Maxx bargain, I think I'm jinxed when I go there.

libertychick Fri 15-Feb-13 21:48:10

Drywhite 27 is small! I am overjoyed at getting to 30 waist - I notice all those reduced jeans go in sizes 29 - 32 very, very fast so I'm not the only one. And despite my moans on here about my legs etc I am really not fat.

shopafrolic Fri 15-Feb-13 21:53:32

Oh no! The 7FAM had all sizes when I posted the link!!

libertychick Fri 15-Feb-13 22:05:57

I go there several times a week and get lucky about about once every two to three weeks. I used to hate TKMaxx - couldn't bear the mess - now about a third of my wardrobe comes from there! I seem to have perfected the art of finding stuff there. If I haven't found something in 10/15 mins I leave.

Also saw Micheal Michael Kors safari style coated anoraks there today - sizes too big for me and wrong colour but v nice.

QueenBOObread Fri 15-Feb-13 22:10:59

<Puts Vol.4 on the shelf, pours glass of wine and readies self to flick through Vol.5>

Well done Shop on the new thread. Life and technology has been getting in the way on my MN habit recently but I'm hoping to immerse myself again.

The only purchase to report back on is the Ganni dress. I need to think about it a bit more, the problem being that it doesn't look quite as gorgeous on me as it does on the 5'11 model. I fear that I need to lose a stone and grow half a foot before it hangs the way I'd like it to. But it's sold out so sending it back in two minds is a risky business. I would like it if I could be sure I didn't look sausage-y confused...

I've decided to adopt Marsha's eyes-on-the-prize mentality; I'm shopping too indiscriminately at the moment. So my mission is to come up with a focussed SS13 shopping list - and yours, should you choose to accept it - is to keep me on message!

But I really like Libertychic's pointy ballet flats and I have an itchy ordering finger...

libertychick Fri 15-Feb-13 22:18:50

QueenBoo one of the things I have learned from these threads is if it's not perfect send it back. But I am sure you don't look like a sausage!

noviceoftheday Sat 16-Feb-13 07:29:25

Morning Voguettes,

noviceoftheday Sat 16-Feb-13 07:32:08

Oops! Meant to say Morning Voguettes. I have a shopping hangover. A big one! blush

blondambition Sat 16-Feb-13 07:35:01

Ooh do tell novice...

shopafrolic Sat 16-Feb-13 07:40:38

Don't leave us hanging Novice! smile

noviceoftheday Sat 16-Feb-13 08:05:07

God, this is like a massive confessional. So dh and I went to Selfridges yesterday. I spotted a jacket I liked in Armani Collezioni. I haven't bought anything from there in years (getting excuses in early!). That began my downfall. £2,500 later blush dh staggered out saying when I said don't go mad... grin. Anyway can't find everything on line to link but here are a few things... this tweed jacket goes nicely with jeans and with shift dresses. silk camisole is absolutely beautiful. Bought it in white too. I have E cup norks and just don't suit thin strap camisoles. These just looked and felt amazing so gulped at price but had to have them. Then the one I really errmed about was this shrug. Its a bad picture because I wouldn't wear it closed up like that, more like an evening cardigan to go with dresses. (Those of you reading my posts would know I am obsessed with being cold!). I got a jacket and wide leg trousers will find those and link later! Also bought two Desigual tops. Will find the other later but this Desigual top is me trying to add a bit more colour to my weekend day time palette!

We took a break at one point and had drinks at the bar overlooking the Balenciaga concession. Marsha, the bag you like had just been put out on display and so many people were stroking it. Its a beautiful bag.

On this shopping extravanga, I wore hobbs jacket, gap skinnies and this lovely desigual top which I bought last week, with these RB chanelesque flats. I never normally feel chic in day time casuals as usually have toddler and pre-schooler in tow so made a nice change! Dh may not agree to a shopping trip for a while grin

Annianni Sat 16-Feb-13 08:08:09

Morning everyone. I'm waiting for my car to defrost so I can go to sainsburys.

I am however, wearing my lovely Goldsigns with a Zara striped linen tshirt and prune bowies.

Please do tell us Novice

I may have accidentally bought yet another pair of shoes yesterday. Shall link later.

Annianni Sat 16-Feb-13 08:09:45

Bloody hell Novice grin

I'll look at the links later.

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 08:12:16

Bravo Novice! What a shopping expedition! Like climbing the Andes grin.

Am also impressed at your dh and his staying power. And that he didn't make you go and help him choose some socks or something. Good work!

Not surprised you have a shopping hangover. It's all lovely, hope you got a taxi home laden with all those yellow bags. grin

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 08:15:43

Balenciaga looks lovely too.

QueenBoo yes to list. I actually went off piste and tried on stuff in APC randomly yesterday. I definitely need a plan.

Anni enjoy Sainsbury's looking forward to shoe link.

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 08:22:36

Liberty lovely cardigan and fab price.

Bonsoir lunch looks lovely.

We went somewhere lovely and I had cauliflower soup and duck confit. Two glasses of champagne which made me feel tipsy. So indulgent.

shopafrolic Sat 16-Feb-13 08:29:44

Good work Novice - my DH would have walked away after an hour!! So gold stars to him!
I also need a list for SS purchases QueenBoo - i keep planning an outfit in my head, buying one item and then planning the next before finishing the first one. Gaps I think are dark nude ballet flats, blue skinny mid rise jeans, I have indigo wash and plenty of colours, but i need some 'normal' ones! A blazer (undecided on colour), a honeycomb or mesh knit to throw over vests and skinnies (Amber I love the Rag & Bone one you pinned and have seen it in orange......) and a couple of daytime dresses but I have no idea about these and what might suit me as historically I have only ever worn very structured dresses for work. Planning still to be done before shopping i think!
My RL breton is in Milan! Taps fingers impatiently.......
Anni outfit sounds perfect for a trip to the Orange cavern! i'll be off there myself later - probably in my prune Bowies too!

noviceoftheday Sat 16-Feb-13 08:31:37

I think I can firmly say I am on that bench with liberty now! (For any skimming my post and thinking I am a total fruit loop, I didn't buy all those things, just the ones from Armani and Desigual!!) Marsha same here, couple of glasses of champagne yesterday too!

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 09:56:14

Lovely isn't it. I didn't have breakfast so it was first thing I had, went straight to my head!

shop do NOT buy the Rag&Bone. It is 100% viscose, catches on everything and bobbled on first wear. For £145 I expected a lot better.

Hi everyone, just dropping in to say hello as I am madly tidying the house in advance of my Mum's arrival for a very rare visit. Loving your day shopping novice, how lovely. Credit to your DH as well, mine would have lasted about 20 minutes before reaching his shopping boredom threshold, even if we were shopping for him .

I have been fairly well behaved this week. Been enjoying my Pistols and leather trousers. My NAP mostly last of the sale order arrived but is all going back - which is nearly as good a feeling as keeping nice stuff ...maybe it makes the next actual purchase feel almost free?!

It was

this skirt which is actually quite nice but I don't really know how I would style it/where to wear

these which would be great (for the gym, obvs), very flattering, except for the camel toe

And a Racquel Allegra jersey beach dress which was just too vile to even link.

I then took this skirt back to Zara as again, it is nice but I'm not sure where I would wear it and my legs would rarely be brown enough to wear it without tights and it looks wrong with tights

swapped for these but they are also going back. I love the print bit the fabric is really thick and stretchy, another case of looking like a pair of sausages. I picked up this t-shirt in Allsaints to go with it and it will probably be the one thing I keep, it is rather nice.

Got some lovely things for DS1 and DD in the Elias & Grace sale which made me feel better. Am madly ebaying stuff to fund my wishlist but most of the things on it seem to be selling out sad, probably just as well, they were silly prices - £585 for Preen pants, crazy...I need a more focussed S/S plan, a la Marsha.

Off skiing on Monday for 5 days so will be sorting stuff out, but will be checking in occasionally, internet access not great where we will be. Have a great week everyone.

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 12:28:45

Exactly Sleep very virtuous! Skiing sounds fabulous, have a great time if you are not back here before you go.

McNally Sat 16-Feb-13 12:55:45

Wow! Fantastic shopping novice. I am all for making the most of those rare shopping trips without the buggy!

Good going on all the returns sleep - find sorting out returns such hard work! Have a great trip.

I'm waiting for this sweater to arrive. I'm supplementing my relaxing round the house wardrobe! Not massively exciting, but with poor teething DD we're not making it out much at the moment.

When buying DD some things from baby gap in the 30% off I also got this sweater in navy and pink. Not my most exciting buy but feels nice, was a bargain and a useful basic.

QueenCadbury Sat 16-Feb-13 14:00:49

What a fab shopping trip novice. Having been in centre parcs I haven't done any shopping recently and now we've had snow again I just can't seem to get my head round buying ss stuff that I can't wear yet.

noviceoftheday Sat 16-Feb-13 14:14:49

I should say that dh is not normally this patient and we had a few erm refuelling stops! Without wanting to out myself, the day was laid on as part of a weekend of treats to celebrate <cough> an event. I could do whatever I wanted yesterday minus the dcs. I chose a lie in, brunch, an art gallery, a few hours of shopping then dinner.Haven't properly been shopping in about 4.5 years as I have done it all on line!

libertychick Sat 16-Feb-13 14:52:44

Chapeau Novice! That's quite a shopping trip smile and intrigued to know what the event is <nosy>.

The leather jacket arrived today and alas it's being returned. Lovely shape, lovely fit, perfect length and I like the simple lines but the leather is very fine and very soft and it feels like I would wreck it fairly quickly - it wouldn't survive getting a bit wet and being chucked on the back seat of the car with a change bag on top of it which is the inevitable destiny of all my outer layers. On the plus side like sleep I feel quite virtuous about my (accidental) thrifty ways and provided I don't buy anything else this month it means I am within my budget.

Ordered this DKNY dress last night - 80% off - had to be done!

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 15:11:03

Great DKNY Liberty!

Sounds like a lovely day Novice. Which gallery did you go to?

Me too QueenC I'm ready to go on blush flats, but I need sign of life / sunshine out there.

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 15:16:23

I should just get them now not sure why I have some sort of shopping inertia confused

libertychick Sat 16-Feb-13 15:24:33

I find it hard to shop for S/S things too - need sunshine to feel inspired. But you should get them Marsha - you have talked about them so much on here that you have probably inspired others to get them and they could sell out <insert hysterical shopping emoticon>

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 15:32:07

haha I now I suddenly realised I am boring myself talking about them grin

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 15:32:19

know!

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 15:33:08

Also love the hysterical shopping emoticon. Made me laugh. I need a bit of oomph

libertychick Sat 16-Feb-13 15:34:02

Oh you are not boring! They are lovely and half the fun of new stuff you really want is the anticipation.

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 15:35:28

Ah thanks grin. You're right if they sell out in my size I'd weep.

libertychick Sat 16-Feb-13 15:36:15

I wonder what a hysterical shopping emoticon would look like???? It would need little legs, sharp elbows and a yellow selfridges bag hanging off it's arm!

libertychick Sat 16-Feb-13 15:38:01

If they sell out in your size I think several voguettes would weep with you grin

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 15:42:24

haha. I'm not mentioning them until they are at my abode. I will get them now or when the first lark chirps or whatever is Spring-like enough. grin

Emoticon - frazzled hair. How I feel if I go near Selfridges or anywhere with fast shopping music.

Annianni Sat 16-Feb-13 15:48:58

Good haul Novice.

Nice dress Liberty.

Shop would these tan ballet flats be any good for you, or are they a bit too blingy?

I've ordered them in black.

I'm a bit undecided about the red bag. I'm looking at it hanging next to my winter clothes and it just looks a bit wrong.
I wish the gold hardware was silver, that the strap was a bit longer, and it is a very bright red.
But I think when the weather's a bit warmer, i'd regret sending it back.
And my dvf red bag has gold hardware and I don't notice it anymore.

I've also bought one of these bad boys today.
I can't believe that my baby's growing up <sob> he'll be 2 next month.

pickledsiblings Sat 16-Feb-13 15:57:04

Novice, congratulations <perhaps>, you must have done something v. amazing to have such a giant sized treat. So lovely of your DH to go shopping with you, it's always good to have a second opinion. Now, what would I buy if I had that much at my disposal...a fab coat, bag and shoes and 'poof!' it would be gone. Health to wear as they say.

Marsha, get the shoes, Spring will be here soon enough.

Sleep, have fun skiing. DH was just saying this morning how he'd love to be going. It's the indoor ski centre for us this half term grin.

Bonsoir, your new sunglasses are adorable - you must be going for a certain kind of look <wonders>.

noviceoftheday Sat 16-Feb-13 16:00:08

Marsha it was the national portrait gallery. I still think of it as a gallery rather than museum! Dh lasted just under 2 hours bless him.

Thanks Anni, my ds got one of those at xmas too. He will be 2 in a few months then I can't call him my baby. Sob!

Annianni Sat 16-Feb-13 16:00:17

Have fun skiing Sleep.

Please order the shoes Marsha, you'll regret it if they sell out.
And there's snowdrops in my garden, definitely Spring like grin

pickledsiblings Sat 16-Feb-13 16:11:37

novice, DS is 5 and we still call him the baby, it won't be that long before you'll be buying a mini micro and a scoot bike.

Anni, the bag doesn't sound right in terms of strap length. The colour will be great when the sun shines. Don't keep it if it's not perfect. Put the money towards something else instead.

noviceoftheday Sat 16-Feb-13 16:15:09

Marsha make sure you don't leave it too late to get the shoes. Look what happened with my Helmut Lang cardigan! <Bitter>

Have a good time skiing sleep. I would need a whole new wardrobe for that smile

noviceoftheday Sat 16-Feb-13 16:25:23

I took delivery of this surprise gift about an hour ago from my lovely sil. grin

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 16:27:32

Wow Novice! I rather like your sil too grin

I know on the Lanvin it's because I don't know what outcome of job thing will be and it's making me think about them too much. But am zipping it til I've ordered grin

noviceoftheday Sat 16-Feb-13 16:31:42

Marsha, I was having a wonder round Lavin on 2nd floor of Selfridges yesterday then thought to myself “what are you doing you loon??!!" and scuttled off quickly!

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 16:32:48

Did you you could really do Lanvin am sure!

noviceoftheday Sat 16-Feb-13 16:40:14

Marsha, it always seems a level of chic way above me. I am trying to get out of my comfort zone so when the purse prises open again, I might look.

Thanks Pickled. I have a 4 year old too so have just done the scooter thing too. i think I just love cuddling a newborn. Dh is v afraid!grin

shopafrolic Sat 16-Feb-13 17:10:40

Thanks for the link Anni I think they are a bit too blingy for me, more the stripe at the heel than the toe cap though. I also think I'd like patent (for it's wipe clean with a baby wipe quality - essential with 2 yo DS!!). I did like those Dune ones so will take a look at them in RL although the last Dune pair I tried on didn't fit my in between sizes feet. Lots of lovely links to catch up on so need to read back once DS is in bed.
Marsha buy the shoes (free returns if job doesn't work out??)
Novice if only my BIL had such great taste and generosity! grin

shopafrolic Sat 16-Feb-13 17:13:43

Amber thanks for the R&B insight. Won't be going there then!

Marsha, the reality is you are going to get those shoes, irrespective of whether you get the job, and how gutted would you be if they sold out? Buy, I say.

Shop, MN Martin Lewis at your service.

Had a lovely evening out with DH last night. Wore Helmut grey tee, Freda leather leggings, black Zara blazer with zips, Pure snakeskin scarf and my Louboutin pigalles. Oh and Rocco, obvs. I really liked it, felt very me.

shopafrolic Sat 16-Feb-13 20:16:53

Outfit sounds great Martin grin

MarshaBrady Sat 16-Feb-13 20:40:06

Haha that made me double take. Great outfit Amber.

Ok am not mentioning but yes agree to all that you are saying.

QueenBOObread Sat 16-Feb-13 21:42:50

Novice I can't begin to say how green with envy I am at your spree and your SIL. I hope that took a little of the sting out of losing the Helmut?

Also envy of Amber's glammed up evening out. DH and I need a bit of that (she says, as she spends another Saturday night on t'Interweb).

I'm taking your wise words on board and returning the Ganni sausage dress, and will use the funds towards one of the things which has been on my SS list FOREVER (so definitely not a new, scatterbrained addition) - a pair of boyfriend jeans.

I tried on a pair of the Paige Jimmy Jimmys in my local QA today and LOVED them, so am trying to track them down for the most bargainous price.

I've managed to find somewhere in the States where I can save about £65 all in, but VAT won't be pre-paid (it's not a Shopbop type place) so I will have to faff around making the payment on arrival.

Has anyone done that? Will it take forever to get here? It's a decent enough saving to merit a bit of faff, but not toooo much....

I have just finished reading my way through Vol 4 - I feel like I am home...

grin I am lusting and loving and definitely going to be losing money over all these lovely pieces!!

Amber and Hopefully Your blogs are fab!! I am currently working on my wardrobe in Pin and will link once it's done smile

Sigh So glad I've found this thread!!

Gingersnap88 Sun 17-Feb-13 08:11:16

Bravo Novice! Sounds like an excellent way to celebrate (although my DH would have dragged me towards some geekery after 10mins!)

Very glamorous Amber, am looking forward to be able to have nights out again sans baby..

On another thread, someone recommended a blog all about flat shoes, called enbrogue.com - has anyone else come across it? Read all of it in bed last night with a poorly DD.

Can I pick your collective premium denim brains? I've fallen in love with a pair of Paige skinnies, I am a standard Topshop 12/30 so unsure if I should go for the 30 or 31?

noviceoftheday Sun 17-Feb-13 08:17:13

Amber, that outfit sounds fantastic!

QueenBoo, Gingersnapps* it was definitely a one off spree! grin I am however lucky to possess very stylish, glamorous and generous mil and sil. Over the years, mil has given me the most amazing jewellery and sil likewise with handbags! They're always check to make sure that dh properly spoils me for major occasions. grin It does mean I like to dress nicely when I see them and also getting gifts they will also like is always stressful as dh leaves that task to me hmm.

I am disappointed about the Helmut cardigan. This other Helmut kinetic cowl necked top turned out to be a disaster! Can't emphasise how bad I looked in it sad Straight down to the post office before work!

Welcome Blondiedollface! This thread is so addictive isn't it? Everyone links such beautiful things, from high street to designer.

shopafrolic Sun 17-Feb-13 08:21:05

Morning Ginger, morning all. I can't help with the Paige query I'm afraid but I'm sure someone here can!
I've just started to skim the enbrogue blog and it looks fab (and expensive!).
Off out for lunch today with all the NCT gang, thinking about Sashas with this blouse my Florettes and my camel coat
The sun is shining but it's freezing cold - not sure if this is a little too gloomy?

Hi everyone, just a quick tip off, there's a voucher in today's Sunday Times giving £30 off a £150+ spend in Liberty, valid til end of May. Could come in handy!

Gingersnap88 Sun 17-Feb-13 09:42:42

Shop that blouse is gorgeous. I'm so sad about Aubin & Wills, I discovered them late and now they are no more! I shall have to hunt eBay instead. The colours are lovely and so are the boots...

Yes, I've read en brogue before. I like it a lot, I naturally lean towards a flat shoe. It has made me bitterly regret passing up a pair of rose gold brogues in the R&B sale last summer.

noviceoftheday Sun 17-Feb-13 11:06:39

Shop that looks a great outfit! Esp love the camel coat.

MarshaBrady Sun 17-Feb-13 11:11:06

Shop I love that outfit, very chic.

Thanks Sleep! will definitely get ST today then.

Ginger I really like that blog, big fan of flat shoes.

Welcome Blondiedoll. What would you really like for SS?

I am in the garden today, it's really gorgeous. Need to get new wellies, might go for cheapos.

pickledsiblings Sun 17-Feb-13 13:04:41

Shop, lovely outfit, especially like the coat. How are the Sashas? My Topshop indigo Jamies look like a poor man's Sasha but 2% elastane vs 1% spandex. Actually the Sasha's look long in the leg which is not much good for me. I washed mine yesterday with a fiver in the pocket and it's now a lovely indigo colour.

libertychick Sun 17-Feb-13 14:59:35

Welcome blondiedoll.
Shop your outfit sounds great. I just spent the morning at a food and craft market, so good to be outdoors with the sun shining. Wore grey velvet monsoon skinnies, black woolovers cashmere/merino sweater layered over a couple of vests, H&M animal print scarf and brightened the look up with an old Dotty P mid blue denim jacket and pink supergas.
Ginger I recently saw that blog too and have bookmarked but haven't read it yet. 'I have only very recently started to buy premium denim and haven't tried any paige yet so can't help with your query.
Sleep thanks for the tip off - I usually do buy the ST but haven't today so will pop out later and pick one up.
Novice I can imagine getting gifts for your MIL and SIL is stressful but the reward is gifts like your bag which is fantastic!
grin at pickled's indigo £5

McNally Sun 17-Feb-13 16:24:04

My only Paige jeans are 29 Ginger. I'm a 12. Not sure what I am in topshop but they're quite small aren't they? I wonder if 30 might be a bit big for you. Is there anywhere you can go to try them?

Hadn't heard of that blog, but looks like a good one.

Amazing SIL gift novice! Must be great having such stylish and thoughtful ladies in the family.

Hi blondie!

shopafrolic Sun 17-Feb-13 16:25:06

Hi pickled the Sashas are good, and yes, very long which is why I love them. I think I should have gone a size down though as they do gap at the waist a bit. The knees are also lightening up a bit too quickly for my liking but that's probably because I spend most of m life scrabbling round on the floor after toy cars and trains at the mo!!
Nice lunch, lovely to see all the kids together again. Need to read through this thread in more detail when I have sometime. Sorry to anyone's posts I have accidentally ignored!

Waves

Hi, all smile You have got me drooling yet again! Those Floretes are gorgeous shop

Marsha What I'd really like is a pair of Topshop Baxters in white, I am currently on spending ban - but DH is ok with me buying cheap crap so I got a pair of pleather leggings from Primark at the weekend as am going out with both SIL's and know they always look FAB! Teaming the leggings with this lovely shirt and I will be accessorising with my Balenciaga this one in Powder Blue from SS10 and probably a pair of FCUK platform heels with studded heels smile

Not in high fashion mode at present having just handed my notice in for my lovely fashion job, as DD is so little I am still massively overweight from pg and we are ttc#2! So keeping up with current trends vicariously through you lovely ladies will keep me sane until I am back in the game, so to speak grin

Plus I guess the ultimate goal is to wear 'good' clothes as often as possible and to emanate an air of just thrown these pieces together and look fabulous Shall I just dream on with little DCs?!

shopafrolic Sun 17-Feb-13 18:06:25

Lots of us here have got little DCs blondie - this thread has been massively inspiring for me. No need to dream on!
Your outfit sounds great, I love the blouse and the bag.
Fashion job sounds interesting........
The Florettes are fabulous, so comfortable, well worth the extra cash and would happily get them in other colours.

QueenBOObread Sun 17-Feb-13 19:08:34

Hi blondiedoll, I love that Balenciaga and am feeling nosey about the fashion job....

I've two DCs (three and one) and still have a fair bit of mummy tummy to go before I'm where I want to be. I don't have the restraint to wait until it's gone and as Shop said there are so many lovely things on this thread that I have to sit on my hands! No need to dream on!

Ginger, I have two pairs of Paige, both pretty generously cut. In High Street speak, I'm a 10-12 waist but my Hidden Hills are a 28 and the Jimmy Jimmy's (acquired this morning wink) are a 26 shock. I've never been a 26 in my life so that's a bit daft, even for a relaxed boyfriend fit. So I'd definitely try to the them on in the shop first?

QueenBOObread Sun 17-Feb-13 19:10:20

Actually I've just remembered a neglected pair of Verdugo "jeggings". Think they are a 28. I reckon that the 30 should be good.

Oh you're all so kind! I guess DCs shouldn't get in the way even of fashion - I just find it hard to wear Cashmere and Silk knowing it'll be yet another evening spent handwashing or more money on dry-cleaning!! DD is 8mo and we have already started ttc#2 as I want only 2 and I want the early days out of the way. I'm not crazy, I promise!!

Used to do VIP Clientelling for a nice enough High St (High Fashion Wannabe) shop. Kitted out the Exeter Football team in their suits ;) So not a bad job, but the hours combined with the pay just weren't enough to make me want to send DD to nursery with wraparound care for all her waking hours Mon-Fri...

I used to be a High St 12 or a 30 in jeans, but my measurements have rocketed since DD and I just about squeeze into and bulge out of in every direction my clothes these days sad a 14 was tight when I went shopping on Sat, so I've no hope in hell of getting into anything premium until the 30 day shred has done it's thing! I know that J Brand are amazing for sizing I had a pair of 28s a few years ago but wore them so often as they were so comfy that I wore them through in the crotch blush Am finding my Gap Boyfriend fits are my best friend with a plain old H&M vest tucked in, a nice floaty blouse or slouchy jersey tee and a cardi. I saw upthread in Vol4 to wear with ballet flats - tried and it looks lovely so thanks to whoever mentioned that little gem!

What is the best thing to wear on top of boyfriend fits at the moment?

shop your outfit sounds gorgeous.
I've become (thanks to you lot) quite addicted to Pinterest now.....you can spend hours on it! I've discovered, looking at my fav looks, that I'm a jean and stripe addict!
1 day to go before my childless London trip and DH has put extra cash in my acc!!!!!planning outfits.......am shopping with a girlfriend but wish I could go alone so I could have a big jeans try on (Selfridges?????)

shopafrolic Sun 17-Feb-13 20:04:27

I'm no expert on boyfriend fit blondie (not helping you much yet am I!) I just look odd in the ones I've tried so far. I think I'm better turning up straight legged jeans, I need the structure. This thread has taught me not to save things for best. Completely understand baby up chuck on silk might not be a winning combination but it's nice to dress well and feel good when chaos reigns around you (or is it just my life that's chaos?).
drywhite I love Pin for highlighting clothing habits. It's made me think a lot more before I buy e.g. Do I really need another <insert name of your favourite item here>. See if you can persuade your friend to jeans shop with you (helpful when asking does my bum look big in this), assuming she is honest and not like some of my friends who say "yeah, they look great" whilst looking in the opposite direction smile
I just realised it's half term this week and I haven't planned how to keep DS entertained. Decorators are still working on our hallway and we have my family over from Holland and DH's from Norfolk at the end of the week. Cue mild panic!

Ooh shop I'd stock up on wine

I'm trying not to save things for best, after all I used to wear my pretties to get down on my knees and measure for tailor made suits... Fab tip though, thanks shop!! Completely agree on feeling good when chaos reigns, currently having a massive clear out to pretty up the house for selling as we need another bedroom!

I am mentally planning tomorrow's outfit in my head!

QueenCadbury Sun 17-Feb-13 20:32:15

I agree that straight legs rolled up suit me better too. I want these gap but can't decide to get them now with 30% off or wait and see if they get reduced as I'd only wear them rolled up with converse or ballet flats so won't be wearing until the weather warms up.

I'd love a pair of white jeans too but ith a 20month old I think it'll be a disaster. It's hard isn't it striking the balance of wearing your really nice clothes with the inevitable stains and hand washing that's often involved.

shopafrolic Sun 17-Feb-13 20:40:35

Yup, I've decided white jeans might be off the list till next year. I'm not sure why I believe things will be any better on the sticky hand print front once DS is 3 as opposed to 2 though!? <deluded>

noviceoftheday Sun 17-Feb-13 20:43:56

Hi Blondie, definitely a number of us with small dcs on this thread. Miners 4 and 1. I work so tend to pour most of my energies into looking great for work as little chance of sticky fingers at work! For the last few onths dh and i try and go out on a fri or sat night so I updated my wardrobe to have nice going out clothes. My goal for ss2013 is to update my casual look. I am v inspired by the ladies on this thread who are sahm with small dcs yet somehow manage to be stylish shock

noviceoftheday Sun 17-Feb-13 20:47:36

Shop somehow when my got to 3/3.5 there were definitely less/no sticky fingers! Its not a pipe dream! Only 1.5 years for me to get there again dc2 then hmm

shopafrolic Sun 17-Feb-13 20:48:34

And as a SAHM trying hard to still be a bit glam I'm so jealous of all you lovely ladies who work and still get to be uber glam! It's all good. Might be time to sell my work wardrobe soon.......

MarshaBrady Sun 17-Feb-13 20:52:27

My littlest is three now. And very active. But I did really get into buying nicer stuff after ds1. I remember going to Liberty 10 days after he was born. One of my favourite memories. My parents visit every year and it's now become a tradition to go shopping together, love then to be closer, but I admit they know me well!

I have two days off, or will be working (see what happens) so will go for the off-white Paris. Not sure on boyfriend jeans. I have an idea in my head of the perfect vintage blue type but haven't found them yet.

I probably would get a few things for work, but it's not too formal where I am. I'd get stuff that could work for both.

So nice to have a mix on here smile

QueenCadbury Sun 17-Feb-13 20:57:21

I'm now a SAHM but even when I worked I wore a uniform most of the time so I never got the chance to be glam. Now my eldest are 5 and 7 they definitely don't leave sticky finger prints!

shopafrolic Sun 17-Feb-13 21:01:10

Good news then white or cream jeans will soon be mine.... smile
Loving the mix too..... Nice that the thread has been reinvigorated!

shopafrolic Sun 17-Feb-13 21:06:58

Just found out that my good friend managed to get access all areas backstage passes for Vivienne Westwood at LFW. To say I'm envy is the understatement of the century!

Ah lucky! I was at Preen once (may have mentioned that wink. Was so much fun , but hugely stressful for the designers. And I felt it too, think of something goes wrong.

Do you think Viv still does the designs?

MarshaBrady Sun 17-Feb-13 21:12:41

Actually do you think Viv still turns up for shows? Can you ask your friend for a run down grin

No thanks NDW we're ok!, but there is an advertising section on here.

shop, my friend works at Vogue. Can you imagine the envy. She does share the sample sale invites with me though, so can't complain too much!

shopafrolic Sun 17-Feb-13 21:23:26

amber you have an enviable wardrobe and an enviable collection of friends! grin I wanna be in your gang!
Will get further info about VW and report back.....

OMG!! Major envy at the VW backstage passes shop

Being a SAHM now quibble I guess I should make more effort to look fantastic day-to-day!

Cream jeans are on my SS13 wishlist, any recommendations for a non-seethrough skinny?

Just had a little google, my Balenciaga is a Giant 21 Classic Handle in Ardoise... I so want a Town in Rose Blush this season!!

Think I'm a Spring - so what colours should I in theory be wearing for SS13?

shopafrolic Sun 17-Feb-13 21:34:32

I'm an Autumn blondie so yet again, can't help!!! I'm sensing a theme here blush

QueenCadbury Sun 17-Feb-13 21:41:18

Hopefully will be able to help you out with colours.

Variety is the spice of life shop!! And I've not had my colours done properly, just a guess from layering colours on and what I know does and doesn't work on me from 8 years working with clothes day in day out!!

shopafrolic Sun 17-Feb-13 21:43:45

Marsha VW update. It was the Red Label show, she was there and looked amazing apparently. Celebs (?!) present backstage were the Kidds and Meg Matthews! Collection described as gorgeous and restrained for Westwood.

A year out of the loop has had far too great an affect so I am desperate to get back up to speed grin

Swoooooooon at the VW Red Label show!!

MarshaBrady Sun 17-Feb-13 22:01:02

Thanks Shop! Sounds good, like the idea of restrained.

Ooooh, what do you think of [[ http://hire.girlmeetsdress.com/collections/wedding-belles/products/finch-charm-dress this dress]] for date night with DH for our anniversary?

MarshaBrady Sun 17-Feb-13 22:06:53

Very pretty.

noviceoftheday Sun 17-Feb-13 22:09:48

I really like it Blondie. Think its beautiful and I would love to be able to pull it off but get the feeling I would look dowdy (I am short), so that's the only risk for you I think. Great website though!!!!

libertychick Sun 17-Feb-13 22:21:04

Lovely dress Blondiedoll and love the website - I never get out - no family nearby to babysit and DH paranoid about babysitters <sigh> I feel like hiring a pretty dress just to slouch around the house in!

This thread has really inspired me to think about my style and I'm getting much more confident and assured about it. I am keeping a spreadsheet of purchases and pinning them makes me aware of the total look of my wardrobe. On the size thing I would say keep dressing nicely - I was overweight for years - size 16+ blush and never bought nice stuff as I was always planning to lose weight and didn't want to waste money but actually you only end up feeling bad about yourself which doesn't help.

Gahh I am 5'6, is that tall enough to pull it off do you reckon? I am of funny proportions, at least 2/3 leg 32" inside leg... Shortest ugliest roundest torso known to mankind!

Thinking if it's chilly a pair of grey Wolford and peachy/pink Carvela MJ's or if warmer Grey suede metal spike 120's?

Cute dress, but there have been a few threads on here about that site and poor service. Worth a quick look.

Ooooh, thanks Amber massive bugbear of mine is bad service. Literally won't go in a shop or use a company again if it's that bad so thank you for the heads up smile I have a lovely Ted Baker dress that I've never worn out so may just lump with that - it's Cobalt, so quite in style I think?!

QueenBOObread Sun 17-Feb-13 23:16:14

Just a quickie on the white jean hunt: tried on these Citizens which are highish-rise, good quality denim, pretty much perfect but I didn't want to rush in, in February!

MarshaBrady Mon 18-Feb-13 08:24:10

Nice QueenBoo!

Is everyone on half term this week?

shopafrolic Mon 18-Feb-13 08:34:05

We are Marsha, must get more organised - I had no idea and am now at a loss for things to do this week. Can't handle soft play in the holidays!! At least the sun is coming out.
Nice jeans QueenBoo

MarshaBrady Mon 18-Feb-13 08:37:30

Shop I have never been to a soft play centre! I have been to the Horniman Museum in the holidays more times than I care to say however.

So far so good, they are playing separately. And it's 8.37, good going wink.

noviceoftheday Mon 18-Feb-13 08:50:18

It is in my area Marsha, I will care a lot about half terms from September smile.

Its been a rare night where dh and I were only disturbed by one child so we feel like we have won the lottery! Late start for me in office so just heading into gym to work off 4 days of celebratory lunch and dinners.

Today, will be wearing a blue pin stripe dress from John Lewis Collection. They do nice work clothes, only problem for me is the vanity sizing. 8 is quite big and they don't do a 6. This dress is a good cut so can get away with it - capped sleeves shift dress. Am teeming it with navy jacket from Fenn Wright Manson petite. They had a brilliant season about 2 years ago where I bought 2 dresses with jackets and then have been poor since. Let's hope SS2013 is a better one for them! Marcie bag and Stuart Weitzmann black patent pumps. The shoes are okay but I really need a pair of dark navy pumps so when I start buying again that will be on the list. I paid the credit card bill this morning and still feel faint. Dh started to moan about the fact that the money came from savings so I cut him off by pointing out this is first time in 7 years I have spent any of my bonus money on me so stop being a killjoy! grin

McNally Mon 18-Feb-13 09:11:30

There must be something in the air, novice. DD (9 months) slept through for the first time last night. Amazing! Sounds like you had a lovely weekend.

Shamelessly taken inspiration from Ambers great blog and have ordered the Pure Collection cashmere snake print scarf in black/sapphire. I was looking for a new scarf to go with my black trench. The one I'd been wearing wasn't cutting it warmth wise.

I'm seriously considering the Sapphire myself McNally! Glad you like the blog!

Annianni Mon 18-Feb-13 09:34:26

First day of half term today and we've had tears already.

We're off out shopping.
Nipping to Tkmaxx first looking for James Perse (sp?) tshirts... as recommended by Amber on her fabulous blog.

Ds1 has £50 burning a hole in his pocket, so Lego shop here we come!

I'm wearing crop Hudsons, white gap tshirt, grey slouchy cardigan, grey/silver studded ballet pumps and using the Marc Jacobs red bag for the first time.

Gingersnap88 Mon 18-Feb-13 10:12:55

We did soft play last Saturday and it was hellish! The Horniman is lovely, as is the playground across the road with the big sandpit. Hmm, maybe a trip out is in order.

I am feeling utterly unglamorous today. DD (11 months) has a tummy bug and every time I get dressed I get sicked upon, might give up for today!

Thank you for the advise re the jeans, think you are right and that the sizing is all over the place so will try them on first.

Apologies for dreadful impersonal typing, using ipad one handed whilst feeding sigh

(Off to find some loafers as inspired by enbrogue. I love heels but cannot wear them, they cripple me, unlike my mother who seems to have Barbie feet. And my feet grew in pregnancy (!!) so slowly replacing expensive extensive shoe collection)

libertychick Mon 18-Feb-13 10:35:06

Have now lost two posts - quick hi - mad day at work, will check in later. Enjoy the sunshine all.

shopafrolic Mon 18-Feb-13 13:11:08

<whispers> Brand Alley premium denim sale:
www.brandalley.co.uk/FSMarque/Id-18628-Produit-0

Annianni Mon 18-Feb-13 18:21:51

I might have to increase my alcohol intake this week.
First day of half term was hard.

I managed to get this cheap grey sweater which is nice and slouchy.

I do like the off white and cobalt ones too. The merino content could have been higher though. Might have to be careful near any naked flames.

I also picked up this scarf
I do love this scarf. But I don't like the price.

My local TkMaxx had a pitiful tshirt section... Timberland anyone? grin

MarshaBrady Mon 18-Feb-13 18:37:46

I'm joining you Anni well in theory I don't have any, but due to having to take ds1 to a sport centre / tag type party in the depths of S London. Without sat nav, I had to pull over and check the AtoZ the whole way. And it was far, and did I mention S London, chicken shop central, fast roads <cries>

However, pleased you bought some lovely stuff wine grin.

Preparing for the pick up.

noviceoftheday Mon 18-Feb-13 18:47:27

Poor you Anni. On a brighter note how did the Marc Jacob do? TKMaxx used to be my favourite shop but sadly don't have any time now to be rooting through to find the bargains. Have been recently inspired by other peoples finds on this threat and nada! Too chaotic!

More TK Maxx success today, bought a really lovely black 100% silk scarf with green chameleons all over it, and this Wonderbra for a grand total of £17.98.

MarshaBrady Mon 18-Feb-13 20:05:47

You're making me want to visit your neck of the woods for bargains again Amber! Sounds great.

shopafrolic Mon 18-Feb-13 20:14:50

MNV party at Amber's TK Maxx anyone? grin

MarshaBrady Mon 18-Feb-13 20:18:09

Yep let's do it, am sure we could get a hand sign going for MNV grin

Like phones 4 u

MarshaBrady Mon 18-Feb-13 20:20:23

But for the fash pack obviously wink

QueenCadbury Mon 18-Feb-13 20:21:33

We had half term last week hence the centre parcs break. It was great as so much cheaper than this week.

Headed into town after the school run and the toddler actually behaved whilst I tried things on. Bought yet another cardigan. It looks really pale here but it's a lovely shade of blue irl. Also bought a grey linen tshirt in h&m which I can't find on the website. It's rather thin and needs a vest unless I want to flash my bra to the world but the shape is better on me than the Zara linen tees. Bought this too but I'm taking it back as realised once I got it home that's it's actually black rather than navy and doesn't really flatter me.

Enjoy the wine ladies-half term definitely drives you to it!

Annianni Mon 18-Feb-13 20:26:37

I might have a drink for you too then Marsha grin

The MJ did behave quite well actually Novice, it held a decent amount and sat quite nicely cross body.
Which left one hand free at least, for shopping bags.

Ds1 bought a lava lamp from Selfridges which is a suprise.
I was expecting him to ram-raid the lego shop as per usual.

He's now got his eye on a £8000 jukebox or one of those giant models made from recycled car parts.

Well done today Amber envy

shopafrolic Mon 18-Feb-13 20:38:34

I am now practising MNV hand signals like a Vogueing Madonna Marsha!!
No fashion news from me today. Still waiting for my Bretons.........

MarshaBrady Mon 18-Feb-13 20:49:12

Haha Shop. Good for recognition. Also your Bretons! Swimming here from Brittany.

Anni how old is your ds? Sounds exactly like the stuff ds1 would get.

QueenC lovely stuff. Really nice blue.

Yes have my glass Anni [grin, I have a tendency to just hand the dc to dh in school holidays as he walks in. I know how jammy his day was today.

shopafrolic Mon 18-Feb-13 20:59:45

So the RL breton is due for delivery tomorrow but don't understand why Massimo are taking so long to deliver???

noviceoftheday Mon 18-Feb-13 21:06:39

Oh that's good to hear Anni. smile

shopafrolic Mon 18-Feb-13 21:14:03

One green mini Gracie on the Outnet if anyone wanted one?

libertychick Mon 18-Feb-13 21:26:14

Amber you have me itching to get into TKMaxx again but going to be difficult until Friday
Marsha sympathy on the South London drive - I miss driving in the west of Ireland - London driving frequently leaves me in tears.
Sounds like the MJ bag is a winner Anni and lovely scarves - I balk at paying too much for them too though.
I must have a look for the H&M linen T's QueenC - the Zara one's don't work on me either.
I think Massimo deliver from Spain Shop but agree the wait is crazy.

So my DKNY dress arrived today and is going back. The waist is positioned a bit high and just doesn't look right - waiting for My-Wardrobe to start refusing further orders from me - this is my third return in 4 weeks smile

noviceoftheday Mon 18-Feb-13 21:28:17

Can I ask a quick question....If you have a lot of bags, how do you store them? Looking for ideas!

shopafrolic Mon 18-Feb-13 21:36:28

I don't have so many bags anymore Novice but the ones I have are kept in their dustbags on shelves in a wardrobe.

Annianni Mon 18-Feb-13 21:40:54

Ds1 has just turned 9 Marsha, he's in yr4.

I'm sat here with a very small stoli and cranberry.
Dh looked shocked when he saw it.
It's the second drink i've had this year, i don't usually drink vodka on a Monday, honest grin

I'd love one shop but I can't afford one at the moment.
There's too many things on my wish list for Spring.

My bags are hanging on the end of a Habitat dress rail and lined up on the floor, until our bedroom get's done, so I can't help Novice

QueenCadbury Tue 19-Feb-13 08:07:17

Mine are all shoved in a cupboard. But if I had some of the gorgeous bags you ladies have, they'd be in a display cabinet grin. Not at all envy honest!

MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 08:42:18

I have two bags, one in use so out ready on a cupboard handle, the other inside a wardrobe. Not very glam!

Anni my ds is year 3, nearly 8. Loves Lego etc

libertychick Tue 19-Feb-13 08:57:45

I have two bags I rotate - one mostly for work, one mostly for weekend, they sit on the floor beside my bed. Have one other that I like but haven't used in ages that is on a shelf in the wardrobe in a dustbag. Recently gave all the others away to charity shop.

And on that note - how easy or not is selling on e-bay? I am slowly clearing out my wardrobe and have lots of stuff that I haven't had the heart to charity shop or throw away as it seems too good for that but I know I won't wear them again. One friend said she spend a full day trying to set herself up and gave up in tears! Is it that bad?

libertychick Tue 19-Feb-13 08:58:42

'spent' not 'spend' ....

MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 09:07:02

I'm tempted to list stuff too Liberty, I really should.

Gingersnap88 Tue 19-Feb-13 09:11:34

Novice I have a series of pretty hooks on part of one wall where I can hang them like art wink bit like shoes on the picture rail!

foxysocks Tue 19-Feb-13 09:49:16

<nervously delurks>

hello! i found this board last week via my friend carrie74, and have been following the MN vogue vols 4&5. I hope you don't mind me joining in?

I have been slowly regaining my fashion mojo since my youngest was born two years ago, and for the last year have been on a throw out / sell / re-invest mission. i'm loving it! I feel good about my clothes, my 'look', my body for the first time in years. and more recently people (well, fellow school run mums!) have been asking ME for advice. crazy.

I only have a few bags for everyday, I tend to use one for a week or two then switch. they are stored in the bottom of my wardrobe in dust bags.

my favourite atm is this campomaggi studded cross-body which I got for my birthday, I love it http://pinterest.com/pin/250231323017024950/

<goes back to lurking>

MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 09:51:10

Noo don't go back to lurking, stay Foxysocks smile love the bag.

noviceoftheday Tue 19-Feb-13 09:51:16

Hhmm. Don't think the wall option would work for me. I am a bagaholic blush. Its v annoying because we designed the bottom of all the wardrobes to have pull out shoe racks but I didn't think of bags at the time.

My family and I have set up a charitable Iink with a village in a developing country. We all do an annual cull of clothes, if it hasn't been worn in a year and there isn't a good reason then we ship to the village. I am rather rabid about not throwing anything out as what we might think is crap might be useful over there. I normally do the cull in December but we were away this year so I have spent 2 evenings in the last week trying to sort out just my wardrobe. Its dull work!

foxysocks Tue 19-Feb-13 09:53:37

aw thanks Marsha! off to John Lewis to do some returns but will come back later smile

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 10:11:44

Stay Foxysocks - welcome! It's so nice to start feeling like you again style wise post DS isn't it? What do you wear for the schoolrun?

EBay is super easy Liberty just make sure you give plenty of info in your descriptions. Sizing, colour, if they come up big or small. If you have an iPad then the app on there is brilliant and takes the photos without you having to download them from your camera. Think there is an app for iPhone too but I have a BB. Any questions or if you want to see some of my listings to get the idea then PM me.

I bring BRILLIANT news (for me anyway) and I think some of you may breathe a sigh of relief!!! The RL breton arrived and Amber it is PERFECT (yes I am shouting a bit!). Thank you, thank you, thank you. The perfect length in body and sleeves, the perfect colour, great neckline - I love it. Needed to love it for the price but if it lasts as well as my DH's RL polo shirts then it should be around for many years! thanks
Still no sign of the Massimo version........
Off on an assortment of 'playdates' today (I hate that word!) so wearing J Brand Sashas again - think i need a second pair! and A&W peacock coloured mohair sweater with tan suede Ash boots.

I am very impressed with you two handbag ladies! But I bet they are amazing handbags? smile

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 10:12:47

Meant to say Amber Zatchel due for despatch 11/03!

carrie74 Tue 19-Feb-13 10:13:14

Foxy!!! I thought you must have been lurking on these threads! smile.

And I must echo what Foxy says, since lurking on S&B boards and following some of the recommended blogs, I've upped my game a bit, and have also been asked for style advice at the school gates. One friend called me a fashionista yesterday shock.

I may bring my [whisper] 10+ year old ankle cowboy boots out of hiding this spring following twentymumthing's blog today...

And am feeling might fine today in my McQ hummingbird skirt (another nod to Amber) http://pinterest.com/pin/283023157804604057/, damson cashmere Hush jumper: http://pinterest.com/pin/283023157804604064/, and brush scarf http://pinterest.com/pin/283023157804604060/ (all nipped in at the waist with a Massimo Dutti brown belt).

carrie74 Tue 19-Feb-13 10:13:59
shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 10:14:56

Very over enthusiastic post this morning - sorry - off for a lie down smile

MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 10:27:21

Shop bravo! love excited post-buy posts. The best ones grin. Really pleased it's perfect.

Carrie Amber's blog is great isn't it. Great you got the Hummingbird skirt that is very fashionista!

Novice that sounds brilliant, also have the image of some very well dressed people there.

Haircuts and new shoes today, rock n roll.

shop yes mine too! I was not amused. So glad the Breton <polishes wand>

foxy and carrie hello and welcome! Really glad you're enjoying my blog and the skirt carrie - it will be featuring in a post this week...

novice I am the worst person to ask, mine are piled on top of each other, sans dust bags in the bottom of my overstuffed wardrobe, where they fall out every time. Need to sort it really, my shoes have their own wardrobe and live in clear shoeboxes, hardly fair!

shop congrats......how fitted is it?< tempted now>
carrie I love that skirt and the choppy bobs on your Pinterest......Now a follower .
My handbags are all neatly lined up on a purpose built shelf....(I'm anally retentive about storage, yes my shoes are all in clear plastic boxes, knits and t shirts all folded (a la benneton) according to style! Scarves rolled up in a handy sectioned thingy recommended by MN................serious clothing OCD !!!!!)

Now onto today's outfit........boyfriend jeans with black wedge booty lace up ( I'm -too-wimpy-and-over-the-hill-for-Ash-brownies) or black skinnies?
White co asymetric stone longsleeved swingy tunic layered over white round neck, long sleeve t shirt, statement blingy collar in coffee colours, loads of brownie gold bangles (*hopefully*), new green wrap coat with chunky stripy, scarf, cross body stone old bag. I'm erring on the side of skinnies.......pathetically excited about my 3 days in London.

Btw.....has anyone found some black jeans that don't fade? I hate re-dyeing, it's soooo messy.

Over and out

foxysocks Tue 19-Feb-13 13:01:34

hi carrie! <excited wave>. i had no idea this board existed otherwise would have popped over to mumsnet ages ago!

anything goes on the school run for me but flat shoes essential. it's effing freezing in the mornings here so the only bit anyone sees is my down filled barbour and boots! cheering myself up with nice scarves though. i cannot WAIT for spring.

today: grey skinnies (gap), longline khaki top (baukjen) with grey vest underneath (H&M), charcoal cashmere longline cardigan (fenn wright manson i think, VERY old), oversized blush star scarf (beckonsgaard via plumo), uggs for school run then woodash jalouse for shopping. and my campomaggi. oh, and some smeared banana / snot mixture across my shoulder courtesy of the toddler.

foxysocks Tue 19-Feb-13 13:08:13

oh, meant to add that my experience of MD delivery is utterly pants. i ordered a rust/cream breton in their sale in and took TWO WEEKS to arrive. I was over it by then.

shop I LOVE that breton. it's on my wish list but have spent waaaay too much so far this year, I really need to reign it in. I did manage to add this little beaut of a spring/summer jacket to my SS13 collection today, found a code for 15% extra off so down to £56!

(not sure if I've worked out link on here yet, sorry if not)

QueenCadbury Tue 19-Feb-13 13:12:04

Can I ask a really dull question. For those of you that change your bags regularly is that for work or when out with dc? How do you remember to re- pack everything into a different bag? I'd be worried I'd forget to pack nappies etc.

Shop which zatchels bag did you order and do they always take that long to be dispatched? I was going to ask for a navy saddle bag for Mother's Day (having decided that the barell shape is too small) but I might have to get dh to order it now.

amber are you getting your silver balenciaga? Because of you I can't stop thinking of how much I now want a silver bag!

QueenCadbury Tue 19-Feb-13 13:17:24

Hey foxy I see you're a fellow bristolian <waves>

carrie74 Tue 19-Feb-13 13:21:45

Thanks Drywhiteplease (great user name!). My hair is kind of like those styles (well, y'know, as much as they can be translated onto real people).

My handbags are on a top shelf in my wardrobe in their dustbags, but not terribly neatly placed, TBH. Oops.

I'm not brilliant at changing bags regularly, but luckily my children are a bit older now (7&5), so out of nappies and bottles etc. I usually just empty out the old one and put into the new one everything that looks useful (ie I throw out the scrappy bits of paper, the snacks that never got eaten but now look like they've been mauled, crappy plastic tat that one of them had to bring home from the restaurant or wherever, etc ad nauseum).

Liking the sounds of the outfits today Drywhiteplease and Foxy. smile

carrie74 Tue 19-Feb-13 13:22:26

Ooh, QueenCadbury, me too <waves>. Well, kind of. About 10 miles away.

foxysocks Tue 19-Feb-13 13:37:16

hello queencadbury! (how do you make names bold? does that notify people you've mentioned them, like twitter/FB?) whereabouts in bristol are you? I wonder if we're on the same school run!

Queen, I keep a Longchamp full of toddler crap under the buggy at all times - my handbag is my own! Shop and I ordered our Zatchels from the BrandAlley sale, hence slow dispatch. Think Zatchels themselves are much quicker. I am getting the Balenciaga. Have had to sit on my hands a few times to stop myself blowing the fund. Have set the date - 1 March!

carrie74 Tue 19-Feb-13 13:39:31

Foxy, just asterisks around the name, but from what I can tell, doesn't notify you, just makes scanning through the thread easier.

Annianni Tue 19-Feb-13 14:37:46

We've just been to the zoo, lovely sunny day here.
Just too busy for my liking.

Queencadbury I change my bags most days. I keep a packet of wipes, a nappy or 2, tissues and a tin of vaseline in each bag.
Then I just need my purse, keys, snacks and drink.
And I usually have a bag in the car, with a clean outfit (for ds2, not me) and spare nappies etc.

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 14:40:25

QueenC my Zatchels order arrived within 48 hours, just Brand Alley keeping me waiting. I have a separate change bag to my handbag. The cream is on my SS Pinterest board.
Foxy sounds as though we might share hairstyles!
Drywhite fitted enough to be slim but not so fitted that it clings to my lumpy waist!
Have just ordered an orange sweater from the sale at Style Passport. Might be a bit bright.......

Annianni Tue 19-Feb-13 14:43:43

Marsha, my local Lego shop had a big tent outside yesterday. They were advertising the new Chima range.
There was a tv showing a film and you could play games with the new figures.
You scored points and the winner gets a prize.
Ds2 enjoyed it and he got a goody bag for taking part, with a mask, stickers, lego tattoos etc.
Maybe worth a look if there's one near you?

Annianni Tue 19-Feb-13 14:45:32

Welcome Foxy, i'm a longtime lurker, recent poster. So please stay.

McNally Tue 19-Feb-13 15:26:23

Hi Foxy!

Very glad the Breton search paid off shop.

Waiting for my Zoe Karssen sweater to arrive today <drums fingers>.

Was tempted by slim leg J Brands on The Outnet (good selection of sizes too) but think they're pencil leg and so slightly tapered at the ankle which doesn't do me any favours sadly.

ADifferentKindOfMum Tue 19-Feb-13 16:20:55

Amber could you please link to your blog? wld absolutely devour it!

noviceoftheday Tue 19-Feb-13 16:45:02

Hi Foxy and Carrie, just sneaking in from a dull conference call to say hello and welcome!

Shop so glad the breton worked out for you!

Queencadbury, i try and change bags every day (Monday to Friday for work). I just move everything from one bag to the other. On saturdays and sundays, I still have my Il Tutto Mia changing bag during the day and then usually a clutch on saturday nights if dh and i go out. The big thing is to remember the things i need on a monday morning from the changing bag!

Drywhite your clothing OCD is singing to me. grin We have turned a bedroom into a walk in wardrobe and had custom built wardrobes, drawers etc. I think we might be able to do shelves for the bags, good idea!

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 20:09:52

I love this Shop, was so close to spinning the Balenciaga fund!

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 20:17:00
MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 20:17:45

Lovely Shop! Give it a whirl shirl?

Thanks Anni will check out Lego shops.

I am itching to get something, new knitwear budget around £100. Sounds a lot but sadly doesn't buy much does it. Might take that voucher to Liberty for a look.

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 20:17:52

Oh Amber!!!! That is v lovely. But focus, woman, focus!!

MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 20:19:18

Ooh all nice! Keep em coming. Going to have a look too.

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 20:29:20

I'm virtual shopping only. No funds in the pot for the rest of this month. I also have nowhere to wear a dress......

QueenCadbury Tue 19-Feb-13 20:35:27

foxy, no it doesn't alert you, just as carrie said, it makes it easier to find things. I'm in BS9. What about you?

Annianni Tue 19-Feb-13 20:36:19

Love the striped dresses, and the red one too.

Well done on the breton hunt Shop.

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 20:36:26

This is cool
www.theoutnet.com/product/264250
But I have too many grey sweatshirts........

MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 20:42:01

Pale pink MiH Paris size 30.

MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 20:43:03

Pale pink hard to do of course, but could suit someone.

You can never have too many grey sweatshirts...

ADifferentKindOfMum have PM'ed you...

Topazandpearl Tue 19-Feb-13 20:57:14

Hi everyone, love the links.
Today, I wore my new jacket with this skirt, top, boots and black opaques. Liberty is right, the jacket would not stand up to heavy wear and tear but as my youngest is all of 17, I think I can be civilised enough!

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 20:58:30
MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 21:05:27

Ooh nice Shop, the Theory is only in a large. And love the Lang but not doing viscose, shame that's what it is!

MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 21:07:41

Lovely outfit Topaz!

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 21:19:35

Didn't spot the viscose.......sad

MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 21:20:31

I know bummer sad

libertychick Tue 19-Feb-13 21:20:50

Welcome Carrie and Foxy.
Shop high fives on the breton! And thanks for the ebay feedback - I have decided I'll have a go at setting up this weekend.
Fab outfit Topaz. I posted the jacket back today after several more 'will I, won't I' twirls in front of the mirror, I would love to keep it but as DD is only 2 it would potentially sit in the wardrobe for 15 years smile
Great links! The Chloe knit is particularly tempting.

Question for Novice - I have been admiring your work wear on pininterest - how is the sizing in Austin Reed? I need some basics like black/charcoal pencil skirt and same in trousers. I am basically a 12 but can veer towards a 14 bottom half and 10 top half depending on the brand.

libertychick Tue 19-Feb-13 21:26:57

Also tempted by pink MIH - 30 is my size, would possibly work with navy or grey sweater and my bright pink superga....not sure my thighs are up to pale pink though....

MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 21:29:02

Would look lovely with navy or grey.

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 21:42:58

My question this evening...... What would you wear with these?
pinterest.com/pin/122230577358725741/
Would grey go? I really like them, they've got zips at the ankle and it's nice to wear something other than jeans but I'm jus trying to figure out how to style them.......
Also, can anyone explain layering to me? I have no clue wear to start - does the under layer have to stick out below the over layer?
Sorry.....random......

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 21:46:30

Where! Not wear!

MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 21:51:16

Oh cripes does this include knowing about colours and stuff. I'd probably go for cream knit. Is that bonkers.

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 21:54:12

Nothing to do with colours. Just curious. If you owned a pair of khaki houlihan type trousers what would you wear them with? Just looking for inspiration.......

MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 21:55:11

I'd wear off-white or cream sweater with similar underneath.

carrie74 Tue 19-Feb-13 21:59:09

I'd probably wear slouchy grey jumper/sweatshirt: definitely something slouchy. Cream could definitely work too.

WRT layers, I like to have a longer layer poking out the bottom (thank you Baukjen extra long Ts), I'm always a bit wary of potential camel toe issues with skinnies blush.

carrie74 Tue 19-Feb-13 21:59:37

Actually all neutrals would go, I think: black, nude as well.

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 22:00:56

Scoots off to look at Baukjen tees. carrie do you layer in similar colours, darker on top or underneath........? Questions, questions.

I have khaki houlihans, I wear them with neon orange/yellow in direct contravention of the HoC rules, because I'm norty.

libertychick Tue 19-Feb-13 22:04:05

Shop looking at your SS13 board I think what you already have would work with them, such as this top or your A&W blouse. For layering I often do a long sleeve T under a 3/4 length sleeve in either a contrasting colour or a stripe. Or have vest straps in contrasting colour showing under a boat or slash neck and/or the bottom of the vest showing out as well.

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 22:04:42

I think I might be about to rebel on my colour rules........ There's no doubt there are lots of colours in my 'palette' that work really well on me, but I need to mix it up a bit. And I can't give up black...... Or grey tees and sweatshirts.......
Getting my colours done means I wear loads of colours. Never would have tried before, but I ain't go head to toe.......
Do you layer things up Amber?

carrie74 Tue 19-Feb-13 22:05:01

shop, I have Baukjen Ts in black, white and khaki, so they pretty much go with everything. But I suppose I would tend to black with darker colours, white with lighter, khaki for a contrast.

I think that khaki can carry off loads of colours, it's almost a neutral itself, but you need to own it IYSWIM? I don't know if I could, so it'd be neutrals for me.

QueenCadbury Tue 19-Feb-13 22:06:21

Difficult to tell on the exact colour but if they're khaki-ish then I'd peronally go for navy, black or grey. But then again, I pair navy, black or grey with everything grin. Do a Pinterest search on khaki trousers and see what inspiration it comes up with.

I can't do layers very well but I tend to have my bottom layer (usually just a vest) sticking out from the top layer. But that's because I have along body and most tops are too short so a vest underneath makes them look better.

If by layer you mean wear a cheap H&M vest under everything to preserve my modesty when breastfeeding, then yes. If you mean wearing several tops in graduated lengths and tonal colours, then no. I'm more of a chuck it on and go girl. I've never been totally convinced layering works on me anyway, but it looks fab on most.

MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 22:12:49

I don't really do longer things or do I. I might have a bit of tshirt in tangerine under apricot sweater as for today eg.

But not long layers, never over la bottom.

Neon sounds good too. Think you could do anything with that colour.

noviceoftheday Tue 19-Feb-13 22:13:11

Hi Liberty, I am an in between size, 6/8 and so get the 8 which is a good fit without being baggy (a lot of times I can look like I have just crapped my pantsgrin). So if you're bang on 12 then I would go for a 12 I think you're tall but I am petite and their size 8 petite is a perfect fit for me so they must cut slightly too small in petite.

libertychick Tue 19-Feb-13 22:19:04

Thanks Novice. grin at crapped pants look - find it hard to believe, you sound very professional looking at work. I am just about 5ft 6 so tend to be standard leg length etc.

shopafrolic Tue 19-Feb-13 22:19:27

Lack of Pinspiration on khaki houlihans / trousers. Lots of grey tees, not much else so thanks all for the ideas and the layering tips. My layering at the moment is as simple as vest top under, sweatshirt or knit purely for warmth not style! Must try harder.

noviceoftheday Tue 19-Feb-13 22:24:03

Sorry will be back to check links out properly. Bit distracted today as need to make school decision and am bit stressedshock. Waves to all!

shopafrolic Wed 20-Feb-13 08:25:37

Morning all! Have the khaki trousers on today with my old faithful grey peacock A&W sweatshirt and black leather converse. Heading out with DS shopping so will put on GAP leather bomber and Mint Velvet fur gilet over the top.
DH and I have a rare date night tonight - we're off to see Micky Flanaghan live - really looking forward to some laughs after all the recent stress with DH job.
EMail confirmation has arrived that Massimo order has now despatched at least! Not overly impressed.

MarshaBrady Wed 20-Feb-13 08:29:19

Shop ah love him. We laughed so much at the ambience thing he does in a restaurant.

Novice good luck with schools, sure it will be the right choice.

I have one more day at home this half term then ds1 to gps and ds2 to nursery at which point I will look in shops, do lunches and generally mill about can't wait!

shopafrolic Wed 20-Feb-13 08:30:34

Novice hope you managed to get things sorted......

Ooh, hope it's good shop, we've got tix for October. Thanks for heads up on my dodgy post too! What a numpty!

noviceoftheday Wed 20-Feb-13 09:31:13

Morning Voguettes! Thanks Marsha and Shop school choice made now. Spent half of last night reading what other mumsnetter had said about our choice. Thankfully mostly good but this is scary stuff! grin

So, back to more fun things...yesterday so the debut of the black Armani Collezioni black jacket. Can't find a link but will try again. Jacket is beautiful and feels great. I was going to wear the Armani light jacket but it just didn't work but don't know whether it was the dress I was wearing it with. Today, I am wearing another Damsel in a dress, no link as a couple of seasons old, its a long jersey dress with ruching which comes together in a knot and then long swooshy belt. Looks nice but would look so amazing on someone 4" taller. Paring it with Jimmy Choo Mary Janes, Balenciaga bag. Jewellery is platinum and diamonds - pendant, studs, raindance ring plus a big silver cuff.

I am thinking if the Armani jacket doesn't work as a cover jacket then I will go for this Damsel in a dress jacket. I ordered it last night in black and white so will see what happens. The armani one is still lovely so may just go back and get the skirt to go with it and wear it as a skirt suit.

Shop that Alexander Wang dress is beautiful. Theory also do one like it (I assume cheaper?). My friend wore one to work last week and teamed it with a black jacket. She looked amazing and it was fabulously edgy for the City.

noviceoftheday Wed 20-Feb-13 09:34:20

Liberty.... Oh to be 5'6". People thought I was that height for years. My flat shoes in pregnancy was a big shock for them!! I tend to favour dresses for work now to avoid the crapped in pants look. grin

foxysocks Wed 20-Feb-13 09:44:58

Queen Cadbury i'm BS7, so not too far! my DD is at the new school, BF, if that means anything to you?

shop i'm sure the school will work out - i found it stressful too and that was only for primary. I'll be a wreck when it's secondary time

my goat knit should be with me today - lefreak i hope you got my email back to you? still not sure if I have the hang on the MN boards yet

glad i'm not the only one obsessed with grey sweaters amber! i keep saying no more then find another which just fits into my wardrobe too perfectly to ignore. I tried one on at the weekend with pink/yellow leopard print pattern, it was THE perfect level of slouch and i really want some animal print for spring. I might go back and get it but am supposed to have stopped spending till march, whoops.

i love zoe karrssen too (sorry I can't scroll back and see who mentioned her sweatshirt), got a tee via zalando delivered yesterday. was £30 down from £70 with the discount+voucher code. it looks red on the website but is more of a coral colour in an attempt to break away from my bad grey/charcoal/navy tee habit. I love it pinterest.com/pin/250231323018037156/

today I feel grim so have done school run in juicy trackies, uggs and a grey sweat over neon coral vest. feel free to kick my off the board right now, I deserve it! am planning on a couple of billable hours now (am freelance) before getting dressed properly for nursery pick up, i promise...

shopafrolic Wed 20-Feb-13 12:57:23

Hey foxy it's Novice with the school challenges. Our DS is still a way off.
I like the coral tee - just need some Spring now! It's freezing again today!

QueenCadbury Wed 20-Feb-13 13:19:34

amber love your Wednesday want. That bracelet was already on my 40th wish list. It is lovely. Buy it.

foxy not sure which school you mean as can only think of a secondary one with those initials.

novice was that primary or secondary decision you had to make?

QueenCadbury Wed 20-Feb-13 13:38:34

I know I shouldn't mention it to you lot as you'll find me something ridiculously gorgeous but ridiculously over budget but I need a cobalt bag in my life.

MarshaBrady Wed 20-Feb-13 13:52:26

QueenC grin will have a look.

QueenCadbury Wed 20-Feb-13 14:24:30

I'm wondering about this one but think navy would be more practical...

Cobalt bag <helpful>

QueenCadbury Wed 20-Feb-13 14:41:53

Ooh lovely amber but not practical for me and over budget. Need a cross body bag either just big enough for purse, keys etc or large enough to fill with nappies, drink, snack etc. I really love the zatchels one but just not sure about the metallic.

Wonder if dh can be persuaded that I need both navy and cobalt for Mother's Day...?

foxysocks Wed 20-Feb-13 14:45:42

whoops sorry for mixing you up shop and novice. i obv need to spend more time here to get you all straight in my head!

queencadbury I will try to work out how to PM you now. I love the metallic, fwiw.

TheEarlyBird Wed 20-Feb-13 14:59:14

Oh Amber am a regular lurker here and often end up spending too much as a result (although the Pure scarf was a bargain!) Is your blog private or can I follow it too?

Annianni Wed 20-Feb-13 14:59:38

There's blue Anya H's on the outnet?
<not helpful either>

Annianni Wed 20-Feb-13 15:01:04

I do like the metallic saddle bag.
I thought about ordering it when it was on brandalley the other week.

EarlyBird, it is not private and now I am a member of the MN blogher's network I believe I am allowed to link to it: here I am.

Glad you liked the pure scarf, I'm wearing mine today. Currently serving the dual purpose of accessory and stain hider!

shopafrolic Wed 20-Feb-13 16:04:45

No worries foxy I've been here ages and still struggle to remember who's who and who said what! smile
Love the metallic Zatchel - but I would - I'll soon own two of them blush

QueenCadbury Wed 20-Feb-13 16:10:31

Ok you've all convinced me. The metallic cobalt shall be mine. Do I go for navy as well? And I still want a silver bag. And a grey one. Sigh. So many bags, so little money (or occasion to use them!)

noviceoftheday Wed 20-Feb-13 16:22:34

Hi Foxy, don't worry! QueenC it's primary school. You only get a week to accept the offers and the deposits are up to £1000 so we needed to make up mind. Just so desperate to make the right decision for the dcs. The stress of parenthood eh?

Anyway that RB bag is lush isn't it? I have my blue bag today. Had lunch with a client and first thing he said was "well that's a new one in the novice collection!" blush

LeFreakCestChic Wed 20-Feb-13 18:28:12

Hi foxy, yes, got your message. Thanks very much and it's ordered! Was slithering between that and the baukjen one. Can't promise I won't order tht either...! Although I possess nothing yellow apart from summer sandals so not sure it'll suit. Let me know what it's like?

LeFreakCestChic Wed 20-Feb-13 18:29:11

Ha, dithering! Gotta love the typo

QueenCadbury Wed 20-Feb-13 21:03:30

Just ordered navy and cobalt

Annianni Wed 20-Feb-13 21:27:23

Lovely QueenC, what size did you get?

QueenCadbury Wed 20-Feb-13 21:29:58

Small. Was dithering about large but decided small was large enough.

Annianni Wed 20-Feb-13 21:32:32

I think I may need a blue bag next grin

I'd better get ebaying...

QueenCadbury Wed 20-Feb-13 21:34:11

That's what I need to do. I used to have a local second shop that I sold clothes through but it's shut down now. eBay will have to become my friend.

noviceoftheday Wed 20-Feb-13 21:44:21

Hi QueenC was just taking a look at your spring board, love it. I am soooo not inspired yet for Spring, weather is too cold for that!

scripsi Wed 20-Feb-13 23:21:14

I have often stolen style tips from you lot (am now a follower of Me and Em!).While under the influence of some Dutch courage (and on a high from some good news) I was wondering whether I could join in?
I have a mix of very high end from my wealthier single days (some of which is too dated to wear), some inherited pieces from relatives more elegant than I could ever be and also am gradually accumulating higher end stuff to add to the large amounts of topshop, uniqlo, JCrew. I went back to work full time in an arty environment and seriously want to up my game after years of skinny jeans and slouchy tops, as it seems to be a good environment to be a bit more experimental, though I have lost my nerve somewhat.

shopafrolic Wed 20-Feb-13 23:30:39

All welcome scripsi - this is the perfect place to refind your style nerve (I say this from personal experience!). Are you on Pinterest?
Micky Flanagan was fab, very funny, and rude!!
Well done on the bag QueenC the small is plenty big enough for the basics.

libertychick Wed 20-Feb-13 23:39:10

Hello and welcome scripsi.
Sounds like you had a good night Shop
I have been on pin all night! Now exhausted. I have a list of things I want a mile long and obviously cannot afford it all and have hit a point of being unable to make decisions about what to get and in what order - suspect I am hugely overthinking it all smile
Lovely bags QueenC hope you adore them when they arrive.
Night all....

scripsi Wed 20-Feb-13 23:48:21

Thanks shop I am on pinterest but under my real name and am not very organised as yet so I shall take some photos of some of my weird clothing archive and at the same time organise a new account.

Have always wanted to see Micky Flanagan! I love live comedy but always seem to miss it.

scripsi Wed 20-Feb-13 23:56:54

Hello Libertychick!
I am off to work out what cosmetic improvements I can make to myself before a big dinner tomorrow. I think I am going to bed with moisturiser and cotton gloves to see if that will make a difference. Don't know whether I can sleep in a facemask (might frighten the household!).

Queen, Foxy and Carrie Also Bristol here! BS15, DD too young for school, but perhaps a MNV Bristol meet-up is in order?

Been catching up as been offline for 3 days and hated it! V cold here today, so Cashmere Poncho I think today in Stone smile

novice aam planning extension....a new master bedroom with fitted wardrobe dressing area.....you can imagine how excited I am about that. My DH will have one wardrobe.....I'll have all the rest!!!!!!
Well my day in the West end was fab (not enough trying on though!)
The shoe gallery in Selfridges....<swoon>!!
Valentino.....ok, bit disappointing, no red dress room sad

QueenCadbury Thu 21-Feb-13 09:34:48

Waves to blondie. Bristol meet up sounds good especially if shopping's involved.

scripsi it's not all high end on here. I'm strictly a high st girl. I just love seeing all the lovely links.

foxysocks Thu 21-Feb-13 09:53:47

a bristol meet up sounds fab!

drywhiteplease we are planning a loft conversion for later this year which will be our bedroom with ensuite and dressing room! so exciting. already DH has to use the wardrobe in the guest bedroom, I have full use of the wardrobe and chest of drawers in ours. it's mainly shoe and scarf storage that I have problems with, need to think of solutions that the architect can build into the plans.

it's freezing again today isn't it blondiedollface? so annoying, I was so hoping spring had sprung. back to the padded barbour for the school run this morning, at least I enjoy wearing it I guess. It's so true that a good coat is such a crucial investment, esp as that's all anyone sees in the morning. well, that plus scarf plus boots.

MarshaBrady Thu 21-Feb-13 11:12:21

<Waves from day off> so far so good. Relaxing breakfast, galleries then more relaxing. Sometimes easier to have days off in London than it is to haul everyone on holidays.

Scripsi welcome, great to have a mix on here work/ non work, all shops are great.

Bristol meet up sounds fab, making me want to do one here.

carrie74 Thu 21-Feb-13 11:25:51

Morning All, welcome scripsi

Bristol meet sounds a fab idea! Harvey Nics? wink

Little style today, but I am warm: full thermals under Zara pinstripe work trousers and a blue cashmere roll neck from M&S. But I guess I do look professional. Am wearing some old dangly earrings in blue and green but not sure if they work or if they're actually a bit frumpy, TBH. Still, it's all worth trying, eh?

Who Pinned the Next girls stuff? Loving the flower power stuff, might even get over my aversion to the store and check it our for eldest (7.5). How is Next these days? I admit to usually buying Boden for the kids (and American brands when we travel there) as the quality is generally good. Oh and H&M down to great pricing and range. But the little I've had from Next in the past for the children disappointed me - washed badly and lost shape.

www.next.co.uk/girls/older-girls/flower-prints/1

QueenCadbury Thu 21-Feb-13 11:50:43

I think it was remus who posted the next dress. I don't buy much from there anymore as find it generally overpriced for what it is. Love h&m but dd1 is a tall 7yo so needs the older girl stuff which can be a bit hit and miss. Great for the ds and dd2 though. Other than that it's mainly supermarket stuff or gap if there's a discount/sale or john Lewis for nice occasion stuff.

QueenCadbury Thu 21-Feb-13 11:52:04

I went in Harvey nics once and hated it. I get terribly intimidated by all the assistants and designer stuff. Maybe a couple of cocktails there would make me like it better wink

libertychick Thu 21-Feb-13 12:02:55

I'm up for a London based meet up smile
Saw this last night - cannot justify the price but I adore it. The hunt is on for something similar at a price level I can live with - actually I could justlfy the price if it was better quality - it's brass plated with silver. I don't know much about precious metal but I am assuming this is inferior to silver/sterling silver - if anyone knows about this sort of stuff I'd appreciate some insights.

MarshaBrady Thu 21-Feb-13 12:39:07

Great! smile

Amazing McQueen cuff, not sure on jewellery.

Annianni Thu 21-Feb-13 12:44:31

I've just been looking for some more Hudson jeans, as they are my favourite ones at the moment. And i've come across these beauties

Should I?
What top would you wear with them? grin

foxysocks Thu 21-Feb-13 12:56:03

waaah annianni my eyes!

libertychick i love that but am not very knowledgeable about jewellery so not sure on quality

queencadbury i don't rate harvey nicks in bristol at all, i have never bought anything from there apart from diptyque perfume. when we lived in edinburgh i used to get loads from HN. i think the stock they carry in bristol is woeful.

saying that it's a nice area of the city to meet. and means we can go to all saints...

I am currently stalking the UPS website like a deranged madwoman. I have jeans coming back from the states with my friend today IF they arrive before he has to go to the airport. pleeeeease can I have vibes that they make it in time, otherwise I will most probably (make that definitely) burst into tears.

carrie74 Thu 21-Feb-13 13:16:05

I've only been in Harvey Nics in Bristol once or twice (although H did agree to a pair of Citizens jeans for me for my birthday from there a few years ago), and agree that it's not terribly welcoming. But it's a good area to meet - there's quite a pleasant restaurant behind it where I went to some event a couple of years ago. Good cocktails if memory serves.grin

Anni I think it'd go well with something red. You should try it out.

foxysocks Thu 21-Feb-13 13:35:30

there are loads of good places for a cocktail around there although it can be dangerous. i once had a glass of wine with lunch at raymond blanc then ended up blowing a fortune in the all saints sale.

Annianni Thu 21-Feb-13 14:05:08

Decided against the scary jeans from hell grin

Just ordered...

J brand grey jeans
Grey 7's
Goldsign jeans

And some black Hudson skinnys that are now sold out, so it won't let me link them.

QueenCadbury Thu 21-Feb-13 14:10:19

Phew. Thought I was abnormal not liking HN. When I lived in Chelsea many moons ago I loved browsing around the Knightsbridge one.

Sending vibes to whoever needs them for the jeans.

Those Hudson jeans are a snip at £650grin

Love the dragonfly cuff but just wonder if it's something that you'd love forever...?

shopafrolic Thu 21-Feb-13 16:50:53

Blond thanks for the Massimo 'bretonalike' suggestion. After a very long wait it's arrived and is fab - so I'm keeping both!
I also picked up this little beauty in the sale.....
pinterest.com/pin/122230577358808496/

foxysocks Thu 21-Feb-13 17:27:41

that's really nice shop. my goat swing cardi/jacket arrived from style passport today, have tried it on and am not sure i can pull off the colour. it's this one pinterest.com/pin/250231323018068512/

i think i need to try styling it before i'll know whether it's a keeper. it was such a bargain I want to try to find a way to make it work!

shopafrolic Thu 21-Feb-13 17:50:08

Foxy even if it's a bargain if you don't really love it, send it back. Otherwise it'll sit unused in the wardrobe. That's one of many things this thread has taught me!

Annianni Thu 21-Feb-13 18:07:04

Is there an age limit on the Zoe Karssen tees?

I've been looking at a couple of them but <whispers> didn't know if I was a bit too old for the ones with writing on?
Just turned 40 by the way.

I like that jumper Shop
What's the sizing like?
Should I order the plum or have I spent enough today? grin

foxysocks Thu 21-Feb-13 18:09:15

Yes I know you are right! Tried it on in a rush over my outfit today which is a gold silk miniskirt, dark grey opaques and grey jumper and it didn't work at all. i think because of the gold, but also it might need a trouser/jean rather than a skirt (sticks tongue out at fash spk police)

i might try with a breton, dark ink wash jeans, or charcoal colours etc after have thrown children into bed. The cut is great I'm just not sure I'm brave enough for the colour. I'm more of a grey/blush/navy girl at heart but am trying to break out of my comfort zone.

foxysocks Thu 21-Feb-13 18:11:16

I don't think you are too old anni. S'all about the tude, innit?! I'm 33 and will wear mine once its warm enough

Annianni Thu 21-Feb-13 18:21:05

Thanks Foxy, i've ordered 2 to try anyway.

The plum jumper was out of stock by the time I was putting my details in, so it wasn't meant to be.

QueenC, I was a bit upset that a nice pair of jeans had to die, in order for those monstrosities to be created. And they are being advertised as bridal wear!?
Silly me wore a black dress, I could have looked a right bobby dazzler in those with stripper shoes grin

Annianni Thu 21-Feb-13 18:23:14

Foxy, that Goat cardi is lovely.

And great news on the breton Shop.

QueenCadbury Thu 21-Feb-13 18:44:03

Does anyone else ever have a confidence crisis. It's ridiculous but I'm meeting dh from work for just a relaxed bite to eat and I don't know what to wear. I've ended up wearing stuff that I'd wear normally. But I always feel that I should dress up to go out. Walking a mile and it's freezing so far too cold for anything but jeans and it's midweek so I really don't need to be dressed up but I'd just like to look like I've made an effort. I think this is what comes from being a SAHM. At least when I worked I had some kind of distinction in my wardrobe.

Sorry for the whinge. Am going to go out, have too much wine and let mother sort out the kids in the morning grin

QueenCadbury Thu 21-Feb-13 18:44:55

Oh, forgot to say that the goat cardi is lovely and if that colour suits you then go for it foxy

noviceoftheday Thu 21-Feb-13 19:07:30

Hi all. <Waves to scripsi, earlybird, lefreak> hope haven't missed out anyone new.

So today I finally debuted the Leopoard print calf hair Aspinal Heprburn. I have loved this bag for about 2 years and its so worth it. Its the kind of great bag which sets off a very simple and plain business suit. So am wearing Austin Reed navy crepe dress with Fenn Wright and Manson navy petite cropped jacket. Black cashmere coat (its freezing today!!!) and Louboutin Pigalle. I need to say again that I really need navy court shoes grin. Jewellery is diamond pendant (courtesy of my lovely mil), sapphire and amethyst ring (mil again!) and swaroski bracelet which is simple with blue gemstones (dh this time!).

I tried on the tweed Armani jacket again and it didn't go with todays dress hmm. So, I am waiting for the Damsel in a dress cream jacket then will probably go back to Selfridges to swap the Armani one. Its £650 so I don't want to waste it!

Shop so glad you love the Bretons. smile

QueenC have a fab time tonight. I feel like that all the time. Dh always looks astonished when I say have no clothes. I won't be telling him about my pinterest board grin

shopafrolic Thu 21-Feb-13 19:25:37

QueenC confidence is improving slowly.it takes a while post DC I think. I'm also out tonight and am not going overboard as it's too damn cold. I have a vest on!! I am rocking grin Oasis coated skinny black jeans, camel and black stripe A&W knit, camel Maison Scotch coat and black LKB shoe boots with gold toe caps and heel tips. Have a few glasses of wine and enjoy!
Anni sorry I didn't get back in time about the jumper.......
Waves to all x

MarshaBrady Thu 21-Feb-13 19:54:15

Anni those chandelier jeans are hilarious! And such good value. wink. Go for the Zoe Karssen.

Shop love that jumper! Wish I had seen it earlier, sold out now.

Foxy the Goat cardigan is gorgeous, see if you get used to it. Or have someone give their opinion when it's on you. Then if still not sure send it back.

QueenC I used to wear loads more dresses, but really they are a bit of a faff. The tights, then different shoes. It's a big leap to dressing up for me, so tend to stick to easier stuff. I'd like to wear my dressier stuff more too.

Sounds lovely Novice.

Had a very indulgent day, started with breakfast then segued into nuts and champagne (had eaten enough already). Did some sleb spotting, felt happy with that grin.

foxysocks Thu 21-Feb-13 20:11:48

WHOOOP my new jeans are on the way to the airport! <sings> they're coming home, they're coming home, they're coming, goldsigns coming home....

god i am so relieved. the courier arrived 90 mins before my friend was due to leave. i thought I was going to throw up with nerves at one point today.

thanks for all the marigold encouragement, i might ask my friend down the road to come and check it out tomorrow. it's the kind of piece (!) you need makeup for, IYKWIM? whereas i can throw on something in grey marl and not bother. DH will not be pleased if i get (even more) high maintenance lol.

Theweek Thu 21-Feb-13 20:56:09

Foxysocks, sorry to cut in...
I also received the Goat cardi today from SP but in red. I was actually quite dismayed by the quality, considering the original cost?
Wanted to love it for 'bargainous' price so going back!
Good luck with it!

foxysocks Thu 21-Feb-13 21:02:15

Really theweek? What didn't you like about it?

libertychick Thu 21-Feb-13 21:28:13

QueenC very good point re the cuff - I could get bored with it - makes the case for finding a cheaper version. And I get the confidence thing, I rarely feel that I look completely right.
Novice can we trade MIL's? Mine does a great line in tenners in cards and the occasional set of notepaper smile <dreams of MILs bearing diamond pendants>. Your outfit sounds fab as always.
Great sounding day Marsha
Anni I have had the same thought re ZK and similar - but I reckon go for it - you are younger today than you ever will be again!

QueenBOObread Thu 21-Feb-13 21:54:38

Foxy I like the Goat. I'm a big fan of yellow - it seems to have been under a fashion cloud for a few years but I'm now a bit of a convert. Have you seen 40Bum wearing hers with a stripey top? Very summery.

Not much activity to report while I try to stick to the eyes-on-the-prize philosophy but I do have a temptation to run past you.

I've been alerted to en brogue where I have seen and am now lusting after the black tights and white ankle strap flats look. I also saw something similar on Carine Roitfeld in Grazia. White flats were not on my List so I need to have a good hard think about them.

I was thinking of wearing them with black dress/tights at work, then more casually in the summer. I worry that I will tire of them though? Am I better off saving the ££ for a key piece? wink

libertychick Thu 21-Feb-13 22:38:56

I really want white shoes too QueenBoo, and also finding en brogue very inspiring. I am not that keen on them with black tights - sorry - but that is probably my instinctive conservatism coming into play. I am the woman who still thinks wedge trainers are risky smile. These white loafers or something similar are on my wish list and I am thinking of wearing them with rolled up jeans or chino's for casual and with dresses and cigarette/cropped trousers for work - bare ankles and fake tan essential. Definite spring summer look rather than winter.

QueenBOObread Thu 21-Feb-13 23:18:19

Interesting, Liberty - I think I'd feel quite self-conscious doing the full monochrome thing so it might drive down the number of outings they get.

But if I don't do the black-tights-white-shoes thing I have no reason to be looking at them now! They ought to wait until summer when my ankles aren't quite so drip white.

I've got those Jemima Vine snakeskin slippers pinned too! I really can't justify those given that I've just bought some snakeskin ballerinas but they are properly gorgeous.

libertychick Thu 21-Feb-13 23:41:09

I am so close to buying the Jemima Vine slippers! As you say, white shoes probably won't get an outing for a while so hard to justify buying them now but the JV slippers are very versatile...or so I keep telling myself. I like the version with the neon pink trim as well.

QueenCadbury Fri 22-Feb-13 06:38:56

Well, I had a great night. Don't know why I stress about what to wear so much. It's not like anyone there is thinking ooh, she wears that outfit to toddler groups, how dare she wear it out in an adult establishmentgrin

I actually like the black tight/white shoe combo if you can pull it off.

noviceoftheday Fri 22-Feb-13 07:08:41

Morning all (early rising dc2 hmm). I don't think I would be brave enough to do the white shoe with black tights thing. Waaay out of my comfort zone! grin

Anni, don't worry about whether you're too "old" for a certain label. My rule of thumb is do I look nice and stylish in it. You can have the same outfit from two different brands but if you don't look good then doesn't matter what the brand is, so get the ZK if you think you will look good it.

liberty, mil and I have come a long way! 10 years ago I would have been aibu moaning about her grin. Thankfully, she decided that I was not actually stealing her son away so she's fantastic now. Dh told her I have too much stuff so he wasn't buying me any jewellery last christmas. She doesn't think its christmas or birthday without a gorgeous accessory as a gift so decided to make up for her son by getting me a sapphire and amethyst ring grin. God it was awkward when it turned out dh had changed his mind!

Drywhite I forgot to respond yesterday re your extension. That sounds so exciting! I have a cautionary tale....we had a designed and custom built floor to ceiling wardrobe that runs all the way down one wall in our bedroom. Its like having 4 big wardrobes. Dh showed no interest in it upfront then decided during a design consultation meeting that he wanted half. Grr. So we then decided to change one of our guest rooms into a dressing room. We had it all designed and built and then he wanted some of that wardrobe and drawer space too hmm. Bet your dh tries the same!

Annianni Fri 22-Feb-13 08:13:42

Glad you had a good night QueenC.I would be a lunatic getting ready for a night out at the moment because i'm still fat and I used to be very confident about what I wore.

Which Goldsign did you order Foxy?

Thanks Novice, I may have ordered 5 3 Zoe K's to try.

Those JV slippers are lovely Liberty.

We're off to feed the ducks today, half term's almos

Annianni Fri 22-Feb-13 08:14:52

Almost over grin
stupid phone!

foxysocks Fri 22-Feb-13 09:25:20

glad you had fun QueenC. where did you go?

anni i got these http://www.shopbop.com/virtual-slim-leg-jeans-goldsign/vp/v=1/845524441943561.htm?folderID=2534374302166571&fm=hearts-shopbysize-viewall&navFolderId=2534374302166539

(and <confessional> these too http://www.shopbop.com/811-skinny-jeans-j-brand/vp/v=1/845524441955524.htm?folderID=2534374302166571&fm=hearts-shopbysize-viewall&navFolderId=2534374302166539)

in my defence the ONLY blue skinnies i have are really pale blue. i tried them both on in donna ida the other week but had a heart attack at the combined price. it was almost 2 for 1 from shopbop. positively FRUGAL.

foxysocks Fri 22-Feb-13 09:27:53
QueenBOObread Fri 22-Feb-13 10:11:48

Good taste, Foxy, those are both classics. It's only a matter of time before I buy myself a pair of Virtuals, I think. High rise, cropped therefore the perfect length on short-arsed me - what's not to like?! Just recovering from my Jimmy Jimmy spend though.

Anni I wear my Karssen inside with a heavy dose of irony - it's says "I'm so rock and roll right now" and makes me laugh when I'm changing nappies/doing night feeds/[insert glamorous job of choice]. I'm just not cool enough to carry it off outside - and I think that's the test rather than age!

MarshaBrady Fri 22-Feb-13 10:39:04

Love those Foxy

Do these off white MiH look too see-through?

MarshaBrady Fri 22-Feb-13 10:57:37

Ok have ordered, will report back on whether they are see-through!

Got them from Style-Passport, £30 off.

I've got that ZK, Queen. Feeling quite rock and roll today with a heinous hangover. Bleurgh.

I have those JV slippers on my list. Need to decide between those, Charles Philip Shanghais or Choos.

foxysocks Fri 22-Feb-13 11:26:19

oh I like the look of those marsha. i've never worn white jeans but am tempted once it warms up, despite promising DH that the shopbop order meant I was completely utterly sorted for jeans now.

the goat update is not good. firstly DH HATES it. he says it looks cheap and is unflattering! now of course i would happily ignore his opinion for something i adore, but I am wavering on this one anyway. the colour is more dull than on the website photo, i'm really not sure i can pull it off.

also - and perhaps more pertinently - the buttons haven't been stitched on very well and look like they will all need re-sewing quite soon. there's also a small black mark on the front of it. both of these are very annoying, had I paid FP i would be raging as it's not free returns. if an item is deemed to be faulty do they HAVE to offer free returns under distance selling? do you think a mark on the material and/or poorly sewn buttons classifies as faulty?

i'm tempted to try this instead but i'd need a hefty discount code to make it workable this month

www.isabellaoliver.com/baukjen/uk/600/jackets-and-blazers/JK490.html

MarshaBrady Fri 22-Feb-13 11:31:27

Foxy I am the same, I trundle along buying what I like, but if I am wavering on something and dh hates it then I do think hmm even more. He usually likes things so I know it's bad if he doesn't. I had some clangers and looking back I'm glad I sent them all back.

It's a bit early for the white but those sizes were selling out pretty quickly, and really wanted to get that slight reduction.

shopafrolic Fri 22-Feb-13 12:23:50

Marsha love those - let us know re: see through or not as I'm definitely still considering......
My Dutch family have arrived and my niece has taken up dressmaking. At the age of 11 she has made herself a very cool white sweatshirt with a black moustache design on the front. like this
I think I'll be commissioning her when she gets older!!
Foxy my DH is usually pretty good at saying what suits me (even if he doesn't always 'get it' e.g. Ash Bowies!!) - I would definitely try for free returns if faulty..... I love the jeans you've bought. I need some blue skinnies as I only have the J Brand indigo Sashas which I am wearing to death so think i need to track some down in another wash. If anyone sees any on their travels let me know?
Amber coffee and carbs sounds the order of the day?! smile

Theweek Fri 22-Feb-13 12:59:02

Arghh keep losing posts.
Foxysocks, totally agree re: buttons. They look cheap and cheaply sewn on in my opinion. Have just taken delivery of a rather lovely Matthew Williamson blanket coat in lovely shades of blues...it has the same press studs.... Argh.
I just didn't feel the shape flattered me, it felt frumpy. I love the yellow colour but it wouldn't suit my colouring.
I didn't love it so have posted back this morning. Am used to free returns but I understand my fault not theirs.
Also ordered the pink Birger scarf but just too acidic when arrived and a dreadful blue top which was actually polyester of the worst slinkiness when it arrived. All gone back.
However I look upon it as 'making' money so am browsing Outnet.

Love this thread ladies, I read regularly and steal ideas but lurk!
Hope I haven't upset you Foxysocks!

Decameron Fri 22-Feb-13 13:27:46

Theweek, I took my new Goat cardigan out of the package yesterday and a button fell off. However I love the colour and shape so just going to sew it back on. I would not have been happy if I'd paid full price.

Great jeans, Marsha.

Hope the hangover lifts soon, Amber.

Lovely bags, QueenCadbury, especially like the cobalt.

Also got this which is gorgeous and a Zoe Karssen top. No more shopping for a while now.

Theweek Fri 22-Feb-13 13:46:29

Decameron. I prefer the shape of yours. I have last years Spring version, it is a lot narrower than the red one from SP and so more flattering on me, the SP one flares out and stops at unflattering place, am only 5"6 on a v good day!
If I loved the SP one, I too would have re-sewn those damn press studs.

At last....have procured a pair of chestnut Pistols from MW,just in. Have been obsessing over that colour for weeks only to find everywhere had sold out..
Can barely breathe.... Need to get a grip....
My reward for rotavirus x v2 children, little sleep and husband on stag do.
(Very shallow)

Decameron Fri 22-Feb-13 14:19:53

Pistols are great boots, good buy. Hope your children are better now.

Theweek Fri 22-Feb-13 14:32:50

Decameron, Thank you. Am a sane and sensible lady in daily life but become an over-anxious wreck when they are poorly.
Yes, eagerly awaiting Pistols!

MarshaBrady Fri 22-Feb-13 14:49:48

Theweek love the colour of the chestnut pistols, great buy. Can you link to Malene Birger scarf? sounds interesting. Oh and do stay on here, more the merrier, you may as well now you're linking smile.

Decam lovely stuff, the Goat cardigan is gorgeous.

Shop very cute!

Annianni Fri 22-Feb-13 15:00:51

Thanks Queenboo, I like that one. I've ordered this love cross one, too much love and the devil made me.

Also got some navy Superga coming. Lots of deliveries due next week.

That red Goat cardigan is lovely Decameron
And those white Mih look nice Marsha

Well done on the pistols Theweek envy

And I hope your hangover's gone Amber.

QueenBOObread Fri 22-Feb-13 16:20:18

Marsha I'd be interested to hear back about the Paris - that cream is such a good colour but I'd be worried about their see-through-ness. On the model's bottom shot I can just about make out the shadow of a thong I think!

Theweek I have a pair of coffee-coloured pistols which I love - I can't put my finger on what is so special about them but the shape is just so elegant. That chestnut colour is gorgeous too. If I saw the Star boot in the chestnut I think I might have to add them to my List.

I had a look in Malene Birger the other day and saw the orange dress which Hopefully linked to on her blog. On the right person it will be absolutely stunning but I think they'd need to be tall (it was pretty much the same height as me!), flat-of-tum and it's also a completely neon orange so won't be for everyone's skin tones.

Speaking of neon I'm wearing this Essie nail varnish today. It's completely neon, not just the hot pink given in the description. A cheerful distraction from potty-training blues in this neck of the woods <grim emoticon>

QueenBOObread Fri 22-Feb-13 16:22:06

That may be the first link to Ocado on this thread <adds to cool>

Have you seen the bashing that's going on on the £800 bag thread. Increasingly I just want to stay on this thread. Can't get over how rude people think it is acceptable to be if you're fortunate enough to have a bit of money to spend.

Theweek Fri 22-Feb-13 16:37:56

www.style-passport.com/shop/by-malene-birger-kampiz-animal-print-scarf-bright_pink-1929-1-13

This is the Birger scarf.
I usually adore/wear 'shocking pink' (as my mother would say) but this was a little too ?neon for blonde-haired, blue-eyed me; a bit draining.
Love the style though as very stiff and oversized and tied well!

Annianni Fri 22-Feb-13 17:41:38

I posted on that bag thread at the same time as you Queenboo, has the op come back on since they started having a go?

That scarf's lovely Theweek, have you found anything nice on the outnet instead?

Decameron Fri 22-Feb-13 17:46:01

The comments are so predictable.

I love having parcels on the way, Anni!

Annianni Fri 22-Feb-13 17:49:00

I've got 5 on the way <twirls>
grin

MarshaBrady Fri 22-Feb-13 17:53:19

I think it would be too much for me too Theweek. Although it is nice and so many tying suggestions.

I did think that about that white MiH pic too QueenBoo, but I know they will bug me if I don't see for sure.

Looked at bag one. It is nice to have this lovely thread, I agree.

MarshaBrady Fri 22-Feb-13 17:54:05

High fives Anni grin.

shopafrolic Fri 22-Feb-13 17:56:20

I had a look too but decided to stay here with the fabulous fashionistas. Too much negativity....
And the award for shopper of the week goes to Anni!

QueenCadbury Fri 22-Feb-13 20:18:46

amber I sympathise-I've felt a little delicate today too and to top it off my periods started. Still, at least that explains the confidence crisis last night!

Nice links everyone. Love the scarf whoever pinned that.

As for the bag thread I wish people wouldn't be so bloody rude. I might start a thread for a laugh saying I've got 10 grand to spend on clothes and bags grin

shopafrolic Fri 22-Feb-13 20:24:00

That should have read too much negativity out there, not on this thread!!

Ooooh I'm off to look at bag thread.......meanies! I love this thread.
Since my trip to London and funny fashion swoon in the Selfridges shoe gallery I have decided that at 29 <ahem 46>I'm going to stop buying cheap bulk and buy one investment, quality item.
I saw
this in the flesh and its so sweet.....I'm going to watch it and snap it up in the sale......or maybe sooner, I've no will power!

shopafrolic Fri 22-Feb-13 21:29:14

That is beautiful Drywhite. And what a lovely place to have worked!
I've definitely become more of an investment shopper since joining this thread, spending more on classic items that won't date and less on trends. It's taken me until 21 (ahem 40) to realise this!!
Don't waste your time with the bag thread. Nasty.

noviceoftheday Fri 22-Feb-13 21:46:02

Hi all! That bag thread! Love it when people get their knickers in a twist over nothing. Hope OP joins this thread.grin

So dh and I in front of tv. I am drinking wine in my marks and spencer pjs (lovely, soft and cheap!) and trying to decide what to get next week when I am in US.

MarshaBrady Fri 22-Feb-13 22:02:28

Ha Novice. Just watched Crazy Stupid Love with Ryan Gosling. He's fab in that.

MarshaBrady Fri 22-Feb-13 22:03:16

Love that blouse Drywhite!

noviceoftheday Fri 22-Feb-13 22:14:02

I agree that blouse is cute. I couldn't wear it though (bit too booby).

Someone on the bag thread has just linked to the Michael Kors bag I like. this one. Sigh. It's either that or the coach Madison Lindsey. Sigh. I am a bit worried they both look too much like my aspinal biker bag.

libertychick Fri 22-Feb-13 22:16:43

Marsha I tried on white MIH vienna's in TKMaxx yesterday - unfortunately they didn't have my size but they were not see through so fingers crossed for the Paris.
V tired so have only skipped through and not read properly - well done on the ZK orders Anni and love your purchases Dec especially the Goat cardi - I have looked at them several times but double breasted doesn't work on me even though I am not particularly norky.
Amber what are you like getting deleted on the bag thread and not updating blog today??? grin hope the hangover has properly worn off now.
Ordered this sweater and this scarf today. Posted them on another thread earlier so apologies if I am boring everyone.... off to bed - need an early(ish) night

libertychick Fri 22-Feb-13 22:19:34

MK Hamilton bags are lovely Novice I have pinned the tan version - it would be cheaper in the US <enabler>....shame to waste the opportunity smile

novice love the coach and the aspinal bags!!!!!!! ........and no boobs here sad

noviceoftheday Fri 22-Feb-13 22:43:00

Sigh, I know. Just reprinted from you. Yes you are enabler.please send me your number as dh wants a quiet word with you!!grin

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Feb-13 06:57:21

Drywhite, Aspinal are a great brand. I like t

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Feb-13 07:22:47

Oops! Drywhite I was trying to say I like that they are not everywhere. They are also at the cheaper end of my bag collection so I own a few.

I have that biker (great bag I have used on the weekend as an alternative to my changing bag). I have the Hepburn in nude patent and the leopard calf hair. I just got the latter and was a tad shock yesterday to see it shedding on my coat. Don't think I had thought that through!

I also have the Boston bowling bag although admittedly I use that less.

I have my eye on the Barbarella but that's definitely an A/W 2013 buy if they still do it.

Decameron Sat 23-Feb-13 08:24:11

Lovely blouse, Drywhite, and sweater and scarf, Liberty.

Novice, I don't know Aspinal but I love that Coach bag. I was quite obsessed with the brand when I lived in the US but can't bear to pay the prices here. I like this bag. Also thinking of this Prada but will have to be disciplined and not buy anything for a few months (difficult).

Oh novice what a lovely collection

Oh, threads like that bag one do my nut. There are things people spend money on that I think are colossal wastes of money, weddings for example. Mine which was at a riverside venue in london, where we had a free bar all night still came in at less than £4k and my dress was sub-£200 from Coast. Weddings just don't excite me because they are just one day, and I could never spend thousands on a dress I would wear only once, but I wouldn't dream of going on someone's wedding dress thread and telling them what they should be doing with the money instead.

You earn it, you decide what you want to do with it. End of. It is not my place, or anyone else's, to judge. I actually find it extremely distasteful. No-one on here knows our financial circumstances or how much we donate to charity, nor would I ever discuss it. If I want to spend my money on a bag, a pair of shoes or a diamond encrusted dildo that is my choice and I don't expect a character assassination from a bunch of santicimonious prats who don't even know me.

And here endeth the lesson.

jenny99 Sat 23-Feb-13 09:03:49

Hi everyone....I found this thread after reading the handbag one...can't believe how judgemental so many of the comments are!
This thread looks much friendlier but I think will end up costing me a fortune ;)
But I have quite a bad habit already. A complete shopaholic...
just wanted to say hi...

Annianni Sat 23-Feb-13 09:12:47

Welcome Jenny.

Decameron you have to get the blue Prada, it's divine.

Lovely blouse Drywhite.

I like the sweater Liberty.

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Feb-13 09:17:02

Hi Jenny stick around.

Novice great collection!

Liberty that sweater looks really good, good fibre content too.

Amber it is odd how people get riled up about it.

Nice to have here. Lots of lovely stuff and chat.

Just ordered this cute necklace from Etsy to feed my rose gold addiction. Plan to layer it with other small pendants in different metals.

Diamond encrusted dildo you say amber? Mmmmmm........my DH is away a lot, perhaps I need one? £250k? Now off to search web......shall I link it for the benchers?

I have also received from Etsy, a chan lu esque cuff hopefully linked on her blog, fab value for £19.99 (not £150)... Quite thrilled.....I love bracelets/ cuffs etc

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Feb-13 09:42:00

And I really could not give a toss what people spend their £ on.

Except on here of course grin.

Ok a gallery today, the breakfast lasted so long on Thursday we left at 3.00!

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Feb-13 09:55:55

Liberty thank you for info on the MiH white! Sounds promising.

Mrsap Sat 23-Feb-13 10:04:07

Hi all. Just staggering to the end of half term and ill DC x 3. Need a holiday myself to get over it. However, have been keeping up with the thread. Lots of amazing links. Love that blue prada especially.

The other handbag thread just made me laugh really. Amazing how people feel they r in a position to judge others. Incredible!

On a more interesting note, have made a few cheeky purchases.

Although think I need to stop reading your blog Amber as I have bought several things u linked, inc the kg pony skin flats, the A jumper and the whistles animal print sweater. Thx for the tips. Non of it breaks the bank tho, thankfully, but then I found this.

m.my-wardrobe.com/mt/www.my-wardrobe.com/goat/green-purdy-ruche-neck-lightweight-wool-crepe-dress-786583

I actually can't wait for it to arrive, think it is my perfect colour. Hope I am right.....

Good god mrsap that dress is gorgeous!

I have found a platinum, diamond encrusted you know what.....a snip at $1m......couldn't link as teenaged DS walked in!!!!

Mrsap Sat 23-Feb-13 10:25:56

Eh? Think I might have missed a bit of the thread...diamond encrusted what? Will go back and c what I have missed!?

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Feb-13 10:27:41

Gorgeous dress Mrsao!

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Feb-13 10:27:54

ah can't see Mrsap

Phwoar

Make sure you clear your search history drywhite....

cute little summer clutch

I'm all about the leopard clutch today, appaz.

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Feb-13 11:07:44

Mrsap, that dress is gorgeous!

jenny99 Sat 23-Feb-13 11:26:45

That green dress is absolutely gorgeous. And I love the Stella clutch too. So pleased I found this thread.

Maybe you can help me with a belt dilemma..I bought a black silk jumpsuit, and I need a gold belt. Planning to wear it with either gold strappy heels or black ones and I can't find a belt. I'm not good with belts!!

Not sure how to link to the jumpsuit. It is Surface to Air and is on their website.

Thank you in advance for any ideas smile

Mrsap Sat 23-Feb-13 11:31:03

Funny that everyone likes the dress because my MIL (a lovely woman of impeccable taste normally) spent ages trying to dissuade me yesterday, saying it was boring. I just love the colour tho.

On the belt question, surely the belt can be the gold mango one on Amber's blog? Although without seeing the outfit it's hard to know?

Mrsap Sat 23-Feb-13 11:33:18
jenny99 Sat 23-Feb-13 11:37:55

I love the green colour. And it isn't boring at all.

Yes, thank you for the link. That's it.

I have seen a gold glitter belt on Mango's website...where is Amber's blog? I sent my husband to a branch near his office yesterday and they didnt have it. But as you might expect he didnt ask when they will or if they can get it etc smile

Mrsap Sat 23-Feb-13 11:40:58
jenny99 Sat 23-Feb-13 11:45:44

Ooh that is nice. It would def work I think unless it is quite heavy...and need to check it goes with my gold glitter valorie...such problems ;)

foxysocks Sat 23-Feb-13 11:52:38

jenny i have a pale gold belt from jigsaw but it's pretty old, not sure they stock it anymore. look on ebay? mine was £11 down from over £50 in the sales and is really useful.

the goat jacket went back, my friends were appalled at the quality too. and style passport agreed that the mark made it faulty so are going to refund postage. EXCELLENT CS from them, will use again

jeans arrived with same friends last night and i am actually in love. wearing the goldsigns now, they are ridic comfortable.

has anyone see something like this but in better material? don't mind paying a bit more. i tried it last weekend and LOVED it but 100% acrylic? erm, i don't think so.

pinterest.com/pin/250231323018061477/

absolutely love the green dress mrsap and that ponyskin clutch amber

shopafrolic Sat 23-Feb-13 12:26:09

Late morning all! Lovely links this morning. Was quite scared when I opened the Phwoar link Amber! Wasn't sure what might pop up! grin
Had my nails painted orange this morning to match my jumper! <loser alert>
The new AV orange sweater is lovely - super soft and warm but at the moment it is shedding all over my indigo jeans! I hope that stops as time goes on.
Marsha that sounds like my perfect breakfast - let us know what gallery you visit. I'm not doing so well with that NY resolution yet!

shopafrolic Sat 23-Feb-13 12:26:58

Meant to say am about to do more listing on EBay. Free this weekend.....
Selling lots of Thomas Sabo jewellery that I don't wear anymore. There seems to be quite a market for it!

shopafrolic Sat 23-Feb-13 12:31:05

Marsha have PM'd you back x

Annianni Sat 23-Feb-13 12:47:44

Love the green dress, Stella M clutch and jumpsuit.

Cute necklace Amber.

I've finally taken my Hudson baby bootcuts up by 4 inches, so I can wear the damn things tomorrow. I'd forgotten just how soft the denim is, they are lovely.

Forgot to say, lovely bag collection Novice envy

And those Sam Edelman black baxton ballet flats arrived this week, they are very cute and incredibly comfortable [old gimmer emoticon]

MrsRadicchio Sat 23-Feb-13 13:18:50

Hi,

I'm a long time lurker, been meaning to say hello for a while! Really like this thread for the fashion chat and links. Though as others have said it can prove expensive! Have developed a liking for Zoe Karssen as inspired by this thread. Really want this paris jumper but it seems to be sold out everywhere.

Have also been inspired by Amber's blog...bought the H&M sweatshirt (good at the price) and also quite keen on the Whistles animal print one Mrsap mentioned upthread.

However, am currently trying to prune back my wardrobe, and make sure everything suits me. I have a tendency to buy what looks good on others but does not necessarily suit my shape.

Foxysocks I really like that jumper you linked to, but not in acrylic! Haven't seen anything similar though.

Mrsap Sat 23-Feb-13 13:39:39

Hello mrs radicchio, that Zoe jumper is avail on the outnet but only in xs

www.theoutnet.com/product/331820

But worth keeping an eye in it because I always find things come back into stick there (returns I guess?).

Live that jumper too foxy, shame about the acrylic, so frustrating.

I do love that clutch amber (the Stella one) but reluctant to get a canvas one....I do like my leather bags.

Mrsap Sat 23-Feb-13 13:40:11

Stock.....not stick!

shopafrolic Sat 23-Feb-13 13:43:09

Welcome mrsradicchio. Love the Paris ZK.

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Feb-13 13:48:45

Welcome Mrsraddichio!!

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Feb-13 13:55:36

Thanks for comments re my bags smile Now you can see why I said I was a bagaholic and was asking about storage of bags. That was a peak into one part of my collection blush.

I have been wearing this Desigual top today. Love it.

MrsRadicchio Sat 23-Feb-13 14:18:50

Ah thanks mrsap, am 12/14 so looking for L or maybe M. Good tip to keep checking back though. It will be mine!

coraltoes Sat 23-Feb-13 14:26:36

Hi ladies may I join in? Been looking for a "home" on mumsnet and think s&b is it! I've just taken delivery from net a porter and my wardrobe this week and need to hide in shame.

When I went on mat leave net a porter rang me as they had noticed I had stopped shopping and wanted to check it wasn't due to dissatisfaction. Oops. It wasn't - I had just ballooned. Anyway, back to normal size for a yr and abnormal spending.

As for the bag thread, argh...buy what you like, enjoy it, and ignore the do gooders. Nothing to say a lady with a pricey bag isn't a good person is there?!

libertychick Sat 23-Feb-13 14:38:40

Welcome coraltoes no need to hide in shame here - link those purchases and give us all something else to drool over!
Welcome also Theweek, Jenny99 and MrsRadicchio

Goat dress is lovely Mrsap and great colour.
Well I am off to get my hair done at last - hasn't been done since November and it looks terrible. And have built in time for a quick TKMaxx trawl before the apt...will check in later.

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Feb-13 14:47:39

Hi Coraltoes am impressed with your personal phone call from NaP, you've got to stay now smile. What would you like for Spring? And are you on pinterest?

MrsRadicchio ditto, welcome and love the sweater.

Novice you clearly need a custom built storage system a la SJP for your bags grin.

Took ds2 on the river boat from Tate to Tate, great fun but cold.

jenny99 Sat 23-Feb-13 14:51:10

Having a blissful afternoon surfing whilst the OH and kids are at football.

Not sure where to look first!

Annianni Sat 23-Feb-13 14:54:37

MrsRad welcome, I've seen that Paris top somewhere on my travels this week, I'll have a think and see if I can find it for you.

Hello Coraltoes, there is no guilt in here, just lovely purchases and links.

QueenBOObread Sat 23-Feb-13 14:55:38

Hello! to MrsRad and coraltoes. I love how many lurkers are coming out of the shadows (I'm one of them). This thread's been going for ages and clearly there were hundreds of us behind the scenes desperate to chip in!

Coral that's hilarious! I can only aspire to that relationship with NAP. Are you one of these mythical people who receives NAP discount codes?

I've scratched my black-tights-white-shoes itch with the purchase of these Zara kitten heels. Ok it's slightly off my SS13 piste, but I feel virtuous spending £40 rather than the £150 for the KG versions which En Brogue linked to.

I'd have preferred a higher heel but I've been waiting for Zara to get these back in stock for a week forever so had no choice but to jump ship.

QueenBOObread Sat 23-Feb-13 14:56:39

Am I the only one who would like Novice to list her full collection?

Go on, go on, you know it's good for the soul grin

Annianni Sat 23-Feb-13 14:56:56

Asos have it in xs, but I'm sure i've seen it elsewhere.

QueenBOObread Sat 23-Feb-13 15:03:55

Jenny one option with black is nude - like this. If something a bit more muted would work, I saw this from the new COS collection the other day?

QueenCadbury Sat 23-Feb-13 15:04:52

Love the green dress mrsap and the rosé gold necklace amber. Can't seem to open the other links.

Welcome to the new posters. I haven't been no here long either and my only contribution is high st purchases but I love living vicariously through everyone else!

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Feb-13 15:11:23

QueenBoo, good grief no....It might be quite a lengthy post! I did cull about half last year though!

Hello coraltoes, glad you joined as I was admiring your bag collection on the nutty bag thread. Also hi to Theweek and Jennysmile

Ds fell asleep this morning (to make up for lack of sleep last night hmm so I pushed him round the shops for 1.5 hours. Who knew primark did gym wear??? Anyway bought a few bits to try plus a few cardigans to ear round the house.

shopafrolic Sat 23-Feb-13 15:20:28

Nice nude belt ideas QueenBoo
Waves to any newbies I've missed

jenny99 Sat 23-Feb-13 15:23:01

Thank you for all the thank yous and welcomes.

QueenBOO I love nude with black but am going to wear a gold bag and strappy gold heels so I think gold is better. Unless I find some nude shoes too?! Nooooo....don't make me 'need' MORE shoes! smile

QueenBOObread Sat 23-Feb-13 15:27:28

I have these which are seriously gorgeous IMHO.

<enables>

shopafrolic Sat 23-Feb-13 15:39:46

IMHO too!!! Wow wow!

jenny99 Sat 23-Feb-13 15:42:57

They are fab. And funnily enough I am just on Shopbop right now. Have found a lovely top which I tried on here but is much cheaper there (£135 here and $118 there) but now I can't remember which size. Returns there have to be DHL?

jenny99 Sat 23-Feb-13 15:52:04

Is this how to do a link ...

I love this top.

QueenBOObread Sat 23-Feb-13 15:57:13

I think the DHL returns cost around £25 to Shopbop so very cynically I always make sure I've tried it on first and haven't had to fork out.

jenny99 Sat 23-Feb-13 15:59:52

Mmmm. I'm sure I tried on a S but now am wondering if M may be better and more 'drapey'.

QueenBOObread Sat 23-Feb-13 16:03:30

Lovely top, makes me look forward to summer smile.

I love
these
Grazia has another pair of Prada pointy ballet lats that I saw in Selfridges but can't find anywhere online to link to.

shopafrolic Sat 23-Feb-13 16:09:40

That's it jenny

QueenBOObread Sat 23-Feb-13 16:20:18

I love the whole pointy ballet flat thing, Drywhite but those are stunning. It makes me wonder why they've all been round-toed for the last decade...?confused

shopafrolic Sat 23-Feb-13 17:10:31

Pointy ballet flats on big foots like me will look awful I think, I can carry off pointed heels but flats might be pushing it..... I love them, but they won't love me back.

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Feb-13 17:28:31

Shop that's such a great saying!!gringrin

shopafrolic Sat 23-Feb-13 17:36:49

The same is also true of scallops grin

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Feb-13 17:38:13

Haha grin.

QueenBOObread Sat 23-Feb-13 17:42:41

I have a high-street versus high-end dilemma.

ACNE versus Boden...?

noviceoftheday Sat 23-Feb-13 17:48:24

Boo, I clicked pre thinking get high street and save the cash but I think I prefer the acne one which is angora so will probably sit better vs Biden which is cotton.

shopafrolic Sat 23-Feb-13 17:55:52

Do you know what....... the Boden is very nice. Not words I thought i would say. And because it's white the fact that it's machine washable would sway it for me smile
First time I've ever gone for Boden!!!!!!!

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Feb-13 18:20:29

I know I am the same, i thought oh Acne for sure. Love acne jumpers.

But actually I really like the Boden! I like that it's ivory rather than stark white and I like the waffly knit. So there you go never thought I'd say that! grin

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Feb-13 18:30:50

And happy sigh I still love those Alexander Wang heels, they are so gorgeous.

I had some great Anne Valerie Hash glossy deep raspberry pointy flats a few years ago, I loved them.

Also love these and these. Not completely pointy. But do have to be careful in the size 7s too.

shopafrolic Sat 23-Feb-13 18:43:50

Hey Marsha we could borrow each others shoes! I think I might do better out of that deal than you though!

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Feb-13 18:49:23

Ha yes size 7 is where it's at wink. Although not sure you would as have terrible tendency to wear til holey!

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Feb-13 18:55:38

Oh and one last thing. The Boden is softer and sweet and the Acne is more minimalist. So actually I now like both the same but go for the look you would like most. Ok enough posts for now!

jenny99 Sat 23-Feb-13 19:10:19

marsh I love those animal print flats. I seem to be wearing a lot of black at the minute so they would look perfect!

jenny99 Sat 23-Feb-13 19:11:04

Sorry Marsha excuse my typo!!!

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Feb-13 19:15:30

Jenny they look great don't they, with the black. Would love some too!

jenny99 Sat 23-Feb-13 19:27:33

Yes. Gorgeous. Where can I get them?

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Feb-13 19:33:07

Will have a dig around on pinterest, sometimes they don't say on the image which is a shame.

Theweek Sat 23-Feb-13 19:40:36

Thank you for the welcomes.
Loving all the links.
Amber, that bag is divine.
I also love all the pointy flats and am chasing some cobalt blue ones for Spring, if only I could find them....
I have shopped far too much recently chasing my beloved chestnut Pistols. I have been amazed by the number of boutiques online and shops with cracking reductions around at the moment, have fallen into several traps of 'bargains' falling into my shopping basket, got some great basics but copious amounts of!

Currently searching for a ball dress for an allegedly 'dressy' school ball in mid May.
Have 7 dresses that have been dispatched from Matches and a couple from the Outnet.
Am crossing fingers and toes that something is fabulous....
Enjoy evening ladies, husband still away so am browsing...

ujjayi Sat 23-Feb-13 19:45:04

QueenBoo I have just ordered a waffle knit jumper from Topshop . Not sure if they have it in cream - and I prefer all natural fibre - but thought it was worth a try.

QueenBOObread Sat 23-Feb-13 19:46:50

Oooh thanks for all the comments. My absolute fave jumper at the moment is an ACNE acid yellow number which I've worn much more than I'd expected to.

But one of the reasons I love it is that it's 100% cotton and so so easy to wear and wash. The angora trims on this white ACNE make it a bit more high maintenance and I've a love/hate relationship with angora <glares at once-worn angora scarf, shedding in a corner>. So Boden it is; but if I don't like it I will know who to blame where to turn!

Love those leopardskin flatties too. I've a pair of Sam Edelman mini-wedges in a similar print that lift my work outfits, love 'em.

Have you guys heard of the Kaleidoscope app? I downloaded during a silly o'clock feeding session last night so the details are a bit blurry, but the gist is that it gathers fashion/style blog images then prices them up with links to similar - and in some cases the actual - products shown.

If they got it to work comprehensively it would be amazing. I need to play around with it a bit more though.

MarshaBrady Sat 23-Feb-13 19:56:37

Lol Boo you're making me jittery about rec the Boden wink grin. I also love the acne angora I have that I wear too much.

hey ujjayi got to say am big fan of the waffle.

Wow theweek 7 dresses! You've got to link, or your favourites at least. And am impressed by school ball.

Annianni Sat 23-Feb-13 20:04:40

Theweek, you can't tease us by mentioning 7 dresses but no links...

QueenCadbury Sat 23-Feb-13 20:05:45

theweek please show us your dress links.

queen I prefer the boden one too.

For me the jury's still out on pointy flats. May have to go and try some on...

McNally Sat 23-Feb-13 20:39:08

Hi all! Loving the links and vicariously shopping through you all. Not much to report here style wise. Very happy with my Zoe Karssen sweater (and speedy delivery from them in the Netherlands). Slouchy but snuggly. Also really appreciating my new cashmere Pure Collection scarf (thanks Amber) as it is cold, cold, cold today.

Love pointy flats even though, at 5' 2", I really could use a heel. I had a beautiful black snakeskin-ish Pied a Terre pair that I wore to death and need a replacement. Would settle for those gorgeous leopard one Marsha pinned though. We need to track them down!

DH is away on a stag weekend, so going to spend evening browsing Pinterest. Bliss. Hope it is ok to follow you all?

ujjayi Sat 23-Feb-13 20:47:58

Pointy flats are a no-no for me. A combination of their being unkind to my wide feet (think penguin) and reminding me too much of my schooldays in the 80s when we wore them with tube skirts and slouchy socks.

I would rather like some leopard print ballet pumps for spring - a textured pony skin-esque version perhaps.

I really hope that Top Shop jumper works out. I am not a minimalist dresser so I struggle to find outfits for more relaxed, hanging out with the kids or working in the studio days. Marsha and I have had this conversation before, but I always feel bland and stripped of my personality in plainer outfits. I figured a bright slouchy jumper to wear with Top Shop Martha's, rolled at the ankle and a lose tank might be the way to go? (Undoubtedly there will be pendants and scarves involved too.....baby steps).

Would anyone care to share their favourite comfy but suitable to be seen in public outfits?

Theweek Sat 23-Feb-13 20:56:11

Am on verge of nervous breakdown dealing with links on the I pad I had a smash and grab just after the code for 20% off sale prices arrived, whilst youngest asleep.

Wish I had ordered this however, will prob do so.

I ordered 5 styles and 2 of those had 2 sizes.
