I tried the tweed-y Next one and didn't like it at all.

Where else can I look? Either navy or grey. I am a 12 btw.

MrsCampbellBlack Tue 12-Feb-13 13:34:07

New Look have a cotton jersey one for £19.99 that looks nice. I did try it but it wasn't a great fit on me but I'm only 5ft.

Hush also do one but its about £55.

Topshop have a grey ponte blazer.

carrie74 Tue 12-Feb-13 13:38:49

I've just been looking at this one:

www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/uk/en/zara-neu-S2013/358002/1091053/BLAZER%20WITH%20ELBOW%20PATCHES

But haven't seen in the flesh, so not sure.

issimma Tue 12-Feb-13 14:02:06

Topshop ponte blazers get my vote. I'm also a 12 and they're true to size. Navy available now at £40, or half that on ebay grin.

Dancergirl Tue 12-Feb-13 14:11:41

I like the look of the Hush one but it's got mixed reviews.

Annianni Tue 12-Feb-13 14:39:25

I tried the Zara one yesterday, it's nice.

Mumelie Tue 12-Feb-13 14:52:30

Had a Hush one last year and found it a bit boxy (not sure if style has changed). Waiting for the Next one to arrive. Have an old New Look one and it fits well, is just a bit too long.

SilverSixpence Tue 12-Feb-13 15:23:58

Saw the hush one in the sample sale and thought it was too short.

DanGleebals Tue 12-Feb-13 16:03:51

I love the Zara one too. How long is it annianni? I am very short and just wonder if it might be too long for me. Ive also got my eye on this one but wondered if it was a bit boring?

cathyandclaire Tue 12-Feb-13 16:26:55

Anni is the Zara one with elbow patches jersey? I also tried the Next one and it was horrid on me, am now joining the obsessive search for a different one grin

orangina Tue 12-Feb-13 16:32:32

I saw the zara one yesterday and wasn't keen on the tartan lining.... didn't try it on though....

stclemens Tue 12-Feb-13 16:39:59

I have this one here but in navy with black piping when they had a 30% offer - not sure why it is not on the website. It is quite a boxy short cut which I like (size down), the shrunken blazer is a similar cut, not jersey though some cotton polyester mix. I also have one from Uniqlo which is longer and slimmer cut which I think they do in grey, black and navy.

Snowkey Tue 12-Feb-13 16:48:29

The uniqlo one is great, £40, in black, white, navy and red, unfortunately I want grey! Zara one wasn't comfy enough and is going back. I wanted a tight - knitted look, not sweatshirt material.

Annianni Tue 12-Feb-13 17:39:09

I'm 5ft 7, and it was hip length on me and yes, it was jersey.

I tried 2 similar ones, one with tartan and one without (i think)

cathyandclaire Tue 12-Feb-13 17:41:20

Thanks! Think I may be putting in an order for the Zara grey one smile

Dancergirl Tue 12-Feb-13 19:03:08

Not sure about the elbow patches on the Zara one!

XiCi Tue 12-Feb-13 21:43:39

Oasis do a nice grey one Here

TheBeanAndTheBee Tue 12-Feb-13 21:49:40

I bought the Zara one in a slightly different colour way and I LOVE it! Super comfortable jersey. I really like the elbow patch details. I'm 5ft4 dangleebals and its the perfect length for me, not too long, not too short.

JumpHerWho Tue 12-Feb-13 21:53:48

I have the Hush one, it is boxy and not smart, it's jersey fabric lined with fleeciness though and is lovely to throw on instead of a cardi or light jacket with jeans and flats. Not an eveningy blazer. It's not cropped, but not tailored in at the waist despite the single button. I love mine.

DanGleebals Wed 13-Feb-13 19:10:30

I've just seen this one on the warehouse website. Has anyone seen it in real life. I like it but can't decide if it's a bit too twee or if my judgement has been clouded by the 25% off voucher!

Dancergirl Thu 28-Feb-13 00:09:34
herecomesthsun Thu 28-Feb-13 03:33:30

I also got the GAP navy academy blazer - don't machine wash it (as per label), bobbles very badly! I took mine back.

snoworneahva Thu 28-Feb-13 07:14:36

Have just order the Mango one and this one from Whistles using the 25% off code.

AlisonMoyet Thu 28-Feb-13 08:40:27

I tried the Zara one. Liked. But quite $$$
I am a 12-14. I needed the XL

AlisonMoyet Thu 28-Feb-13 08:41:51

Oh my Zara one was dark grey. Not that linked one.

noddyholder Thu 28-Feb-13 09:20:20

Don't they go sloppy looking after afew wears? Uniqlo one definitely does

winefairy Thu 28-Feb-13 09:38:34

Love that Whistles one, snow.

Dancergirl Thu 28-Feb-13 16:52:27

I like the Whistles one too! Where did you get the code from snow?

AuldAlliance Thu 28-Feb-13 17:45:01

I have a Zara one from last year, it has aged well.
Some here too.

snoworneahva Thu 28-Feb-13 17:53:49

Have bumped the thread but the code for 25% off at whistles is WH25ss13 I tried it on last year and it was a great fit - black one was like moss stitch rather than sweat shirt fabric, felt less likely to go baggy, but I've ordered the grey one this time.
I want to try this black jacket from Me and Em....just fancy a change of style as I have a navy cotton blazer with a good stretch through it, already from Banana Republic, so I don't want another dark blazer, its a bit too samey. I'm in no panic for it so I'm waiting on a code.

EarlyInTheMorning Thu 28-Feb-13 18:07:01

Is the Whistles one any good for short people?

snoworneahva Thu 28-Feb-13 18:34:12

I'll let you know on Monday - I'm 5 8" it's arm length that I normally struggle with.

Decameron Fri 01-Mar-13 07:02:11

Snoworneahva, I bought the Whistles Lena blazer in black. I'm 5' 9" and also often have issues with arm lengths but this fits!

Bunbaker Fri 01-Mar-13 07:11:49

I have ordered this one from H & M. I will let you know how I get one. It's due to be delivered today or tomorrow.

faustina Fri 01-Mar-13 08:34:55

I'm 5'4 and bought that whistles one last year in black. It wasn't v flattering on me. The fabric is too thick, and something about the cut and the way it hangs. I still prefer the Uniqlo cut and sewn jacket I bought three years ago

Corygal Fri 01-Mar-13 08:38:31

I've got the Topshop one and it doesn't bag. The dark blue one looks more expensive than the other colours, IMHO.

snoworneahva Fri 01-Mar-13 16:14:58

Whistles jersey arrived - sleeves are just long enough, could do with a bit longer but I have issues with arm length. Quality of fabric is spot on, it's thick and looks knitted rather than sweatshirt stuff - which was what I was after. It's also washable. Length - it falls mid hip - a good few inches above my widest part, so it's very flattering. Not too snug around the waist.

All in all very pleased, although it has a small snag in the fabric so it's being sent back for a replacement but otherwise it's a keeper.

Annianni Fri 01-Mar-13 16:35:43

I ordered the Hush one this week. It was nice but wasn't sure so i've sent it back.

I've ordered the Hush biker style to try next. And the Whistles one in grey.

Bunbaker Fri 01-Mar-13 17:18:45

My H & M one arrived and is a perfect fit. I had a load of friends round when it arrived and they were all very complimentary when I tried it on. It isn't really jersey though, even though it has a bit of stretch in it. I am very pleased with it.

Dancergirl Fri 01-Mar-13 17:29:03

annianni what was wrong with the Hush one? I've ordered the Whistles grey one to try but not sure if I want grey or navy?

What do you all think of this Kaliko one?

www.johnlewis.com/kaliko-jersey-blazer-navy/p377964#tabinfo-ratings

Beaverfeaver Fri 01-Mar-13 17:44:58

I ordered this one the other day and it arrived today and is wonderful :

Grey, cut well, slightly unusual and fabulous price.

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370749335940?redirect=mobile

Annianni Fri 01-Mar-13 17:52:21

Dancer I ordered the hush one in charcoal, pale grey and navy.

The charcoal didn't look right next to my hair (long brunette)
The navy was lovely and I did actually hang it up as a keeper because it looked nice with my jeans.
The pale grey just didn't seem to look right.

But I then saw the biker style and thought that might be better for me, more casual.

If the biker style is no good, I might order the navy again at a later date.

I think I want a navy jacket and a pale grey one, but different styles iykwim.

That kaliko one looks a bit smart for me. But i'm probably going to JL next week, so i'll have a look at it then.

winefairy Fri 01-Mar-13 18:29:57

Glad the Whistles grey seems to be working out for people although I had an email to say mine will be delivered on the 5th. The 5th?!! <wails>

Have my eye on the Hush navy but I shall wait and see how this next wave of purchases pans out for me before ordering more. Have a chequered history with Hush.

chubbymomie2012 Fri 01-Mar-13 18:40:56

Look at Mantaray in Debenhams. They have a gorgeous one they call grey but I think it's more blue/grey. I have bought it and love it. It's £40 x

snoworneahva Fri 01-Mar-13 21:25:59

I've just ordered this jersey biker jacket can't decide between blazer or biker jacket.

Annianni Sat 02-Mar-13 10:09:08

There's a grey marl Hush jacket in a M/L on ebay, new without tags if anyone's interested.
It finishes tomorrow and was at £4-20 when I last looked.

Dancergirl Sat 02-Mar-13 15:11:50

Thanks anni I think now it's a choice between the Hush navy one and the Whistles grey one.

Thank goodness for MN, how would we all shop without it? smile

Windowbasket Sat 02-Mar-13 20:39:45

Ok not jersey but I love it! What do you think? Bit pricey though [[http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=21&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=8468650&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=208526&parent_categoryId=203984&pageSize=20&refinements=category~[209745|208526]&noOfRefinements=1]]

upinthehills Sat 02-Mar-13 20:59:50

Not usually a fan of them, but I like this look of this white stuff grey jersey blazer

I have ex swimmers shoulders so need to hit the high street to try on them all on - everything I buy online line pretty much gets sent back.

Sonotkylie Sun 03-Mar-13 08:23:51

I am quite tempted by the Kaliko one. Just found it with 20% off on the Kaliko website and free p and p if anyone else is interested.

EarlyInTheMorning Sun 03-Mar-13 10:51:06

Thanks Sonotkylie. Good find. Do you know how long the discount will last? Shame they don't do free returns too.

Sonotkylie Sun 03-Mar-13 10:54:32

Ends Sat 9 march. I agree about returns but weirdly I am OK with it if its free postage to start ... Funny isn't it how quickly we've got used to free returns as 'standard'

Windowbasket Sun 03-Mar-13 11:10:28

I have just ordered this - £44 and free delivery www.atterleyroad.com/willow-boyfriend-jacket-4.html

Annianni Mon 04-Mar-13 14:10:50

My grey Whistles jacket is here and I love it. It's a better fit than the hush one on me.

I just wish they did it in navy too.

EarlyInTheMorning Mon 04-Mar-13 14:19:29

Annianni what's the fit like?

Annianni Mon 04-Mar-13 14:34:29

I'm a good size 14 with boobs and a small belly. The size 16 fits me perfectly Early.

Someone will be along who'll say the sizing is huge though, and then i'll feel crap grin

EarlyInTheMorning Mon 04-Mar-13 14:37:31

grin

mewkins Mon 04-Mar-13 18:44:42

A word of warning though...I just returned something to kaliko and as they delivered the dress I a giant cardboard box (who does that?!) I had to pay 6quid to return it in said box. I would never pay £6 for delivery normally so feel slightly ripped off!

AlisonMoyet Tue 05-Mar-13 21:11:18

The whistles one came

IT'S DISGUSTING. Cheap boxy and conservative candidate wifey

The dark grey Zara one I'd had on was way better

AlisonMoyet Tue 05-Mar-13 21:11:56

Plus the colour!! What on earth possessed me

snoworneahva Tue 05-Mar-13 22:08:41

Odd - the Zara one looks cheap to me and the whistles one looks better - have decided that the whistles one doesn't fit properly - baggy around my shoulders. I might have to order a smaller size.

Dancergirl Fri 08-Mar-13 09:28:30

I quite like the Whistles one! Waiting for navy Hush one now to compare!

Annianni Fri 08-Mar-13 09:40:48

I've worn my Whistles one and it's great. There is room in the boob and waist area.
The size smaller would have probably fit, but I didn't want that snug jacket look.

I'd definitely buy it in other colours in the future.

SilverSixpence Fri 08-Mar-13 09:46:24

I bought BUTTON BLAZER this from Pull and Bear. The cut is great and the colour is a nice neutral for spring. The only thing is that the fabric isn't that soft for jersey but it's the best one I've found at that price.

upinthehills Sat 09-Mar-13 15:43:06

If you contact them John Lewis should price match Kaliko, and you can return to a JL store for free. Just returned the Kaliko one to JL today - fabric looked like it was covered in lint and sleeves had funny bits at the wrist that made them flare out and it looked odd. It sizes big - I went for 12 and am a 12/14 normally.

Dancergirl Mon 11-Mar-13 12:52:34

I didn't like the Hush one at all, completely shapeless.

Annianni Mon 11-Mar-13 13:11:12

I've just sent the Hush biker jacket back. It was nice, but too short for me.

Dancergirl Tue 12-Mar-13 13:42:19

Just been to Zara and bought their jersey blazer in dark grey. It's lovely, nice cut and good fit.

Sending the Whistles one back now.

Really recommend the Zara one and it comes in loads of colours.

Sonotkylie Tue 12-Mar-13 15:23:39

Kaliko one went back here too. I looked too much like Mrs Thatcher. Like the zara one online but when I was looking I found a 'jogging blazer'. Can anyone tell me what a jogging blazer might be? Its about the only time I could say definitively I don't need a blazer

snoworneahva Tue 12-Mar-13 17:23:18

I ended up sizing down on the Whistles one and buying a jersey biker - both in grey....I couldn't decide between them.

oxcat1 Sun 17-Mar-13 11:56:54

Do you think there is any chance in a month of Sundays that I could get away with this? I'm a size 8/10 and was thinking of aged 16 (although 15 better fit according to their size guide). Not sure about a peplum blazer. Does it just make you look very 'hippy'?

snoworneahva Sun 17-Mar-13 13:33:54

I like it, definitely worth a try.
