It has been decided that we need a new Mumsnet Scarf

In order to stop hijacking stormforce10's brilliant thread, in which she gave another TerribleCuntMum a proper bollocking (go, stormforce!!! - and link here for anyone who wants to cheer her on), I am starting this one.

The old Mumsnet Scarf, judging by responses posted to a picture, is just not serving its purpose any more.

Here are a few alternate options.

Please add yours.

Skull scarf with attitude

Gorgeous white and grey butterfly scarf - my personal favourite

More butterfly options, with international shipping for those of us not in UK

Not so great, but worth mentioning nonetheless

The Original Scarf, which looks great on the wearer, but of course we don't all look like that

VivaLeBeaver Sat 09-Feb-13 20:08:03

I like the white stuff one and also the skull one.

I thought we did have an updated MN scarf though? There was a thread last year about the zebra scarf.

Jacksmania Sat 09-Feb-13 20:09:45

Missed that one - link please?

notjustamummythankyou Sat 09-Feb-13 20:14:01

This is the Zebra scarf , isn't it? I bought it green - had tons of compliments. I try and not let on it was dirt cheap on eBay, but usually fail. smile

Jacksmania Sat 09-Feb-13 20:16:45

Oh, I quite like that!

Glossynotflossy Sat 09-Feb-13 20:22:39

No butterflies
can we have something a bit edgy?

Humph, that's my not so great butterfly scarf, it is actually nice IRL, and I get loads of compliments too! <sulking>

I already own a zebra one & a gorgeous accessorize circle scarf butterfly one (thanks mum).

I could use an excuse to buy another. I only own about 300 scarves to go with my 500 cardigans. Good for hiding chins & back fat.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sat 09-Feb-13 20:30:46

Some lovely ones here

I have three of the MN ones.

I need some new ones.

I bought the original MN scarf in purple and thought it was bloody horrible.

EverythingslookingRosie Sat 09-Feb-13 20:35:34

I love that 'not so great' scarf Glaikitfizzog in fact I will probably buy one now to hide my chins and back fat grin

Coconutty Sat 09-Feb-13 20:36:51

Haven't seen any that I like on here yet. Zebra one was ok last year but need an update now.

Skull scarf wins my vote

I don't like any of them, sorry. And I don't want a scarf that everybody is going to be wearing, either tbh. So let's find LOTS of scarves, so people can all have a different one!

But I do like the look of:

watches Love this print but depends on fabric

Might well go and buy this tomorrow if it's nice irl

love this too

Jacksmania Sat 09-Feb-13 20:42:49

Oh shit Glaikit - I'm sorry, really, that was rude of me blush

<slaps self>

landofsoapandglory Sat 09-Feb-13 20:45:19

Glaikit I've got one too!

Jacksmania Sat 09-Feb-13 20:45:43

Um. Maybe I'm being stupid, but if we have lots of different scarves which I heartily approve in principle, I love scarves and have a few a lot actually, then how will we know which is The Mumsnet Scarf?

Or is it a defining feature of a Mumsnetter that she wears a long floaty scarf?
felling dim

as well as rude blush

BabyRoger Sat 09-Feb-13 20:48:03

I like the original!

Hope nothing floral is decided on!! Needs to be edgy not WI! (in my humble opinion!)

WitchOfEndor Sat 09-Feb-13 20:48:52

Not fond of skull motifs but marking my place for possible new scarf splurges!

notjustamummythankyou Sat 09-Feb-13 20:51:04

Pretty skulls anyone?

iMe Sat 09-Feb-13 20:51:31

I have the White Stuff one smile Haven't worn it yet though so can't say if it's got any compliments.
Love all the other butterfly links.
Didn't look at the skull one as I hate skulls. (No offence to anyone who likes them!)
Love all Remus' links.
<Faints at the price of the Atterley Road scarves>

notjustamummythankyou Sat 09-Feb-13 20:51:55

Ok, babyroger doesn't like flowers, and witch doesn't like skulls.

I'll get my coat ...

Nagoo Sat 09-Feb-13 20:52:12

placemarking, I like the zebra one in yellow a lot but it's not payday yet...

landofsoapandglory Sat 09-Feb-13 20:57:49

Nagoo, if you do a search for "yellow zebra print scarf" on eBay, some come up as cheap as £3.99 incase you do want to buy one when pay does come. I have 3 from last year and know I didn't pay £7.99 for them.

I just don't think it's healthy for lots of women to all want the same scarf - maybe it's me that's stupid? smile

Murtette Sat 09-Feb-13 20:59:39

Can someone explain the whole MN scarf thing to me? I have heard about it on many occasions but have no idea what it is or, more importantly, how to wear it. Will it make me look instantly stylish asks optimistically?

LynetteScavo Sat 09-Feb-13 21:00:40

I vote for the Zebra scarf.

In fact, I'm just going to buy it anyway.

iMe Sat 09-Feb-13 21:00:45

I like this

LynetteScavo Sat 09-Feb-13 21:05:13
iMe Sat 09-Feb-13 21:05:37

grin Moonlight....a true MN Scarf!

Branleuse Sat 09-Feb-13 21:05:42
Hissy Sat 09-Feb-13 21:08:58

well I like the not so great one, and will swish it with aplomb...

Love the pretty skulls one too!

Yay! I'm not unstylish!!

Well I bloody love the 'not so great' scarf, I've just bought it.

CointreauVersial Sat 09-Feb-13 21:16:15

iMe's is lovely, and tis nice to see a bit of colour (summer is coming, ladies).

I have far too many scarves already, so I'm trying not to like too many of the links.

UterusUterusGhali Sat 09-Feb-13 21:16:15
AmberSocks Sat 09-Feb-13 21:16:40

i like the skull one,not the one in the op the coloured one.

Levantine Sat 09-Feb-13 21:17:41

The not so great one is my fave, apart from the Cos one, which I love

exexpat Sat 09-Feb-13 21:22:19

I think MNHQ is missing a trick here. They should commission a range of scarves with tasteful butterfly/skull/Pombear/cupcake & bunting/whatever prints, with the MN logo carefully camouflaged in one corner (it would blend in very well with butterflies, for example). The uninitiated wouldn't notice it, but for those in the know there would be no doubt at all about spotting fellow NMNers. And they'd make some money out of it, which might mean they could reduce some of the tackier ads would be an all-round win.

LynetteScavo Sat 09-Feb-13 21:30:00

The star scarf is £3.99 with free postage from china. What's the catch? Should I avoid ordering it?

libertychick Sat 09-Feb-13 21:32:42

I agree with Remus on this - why would everyone want to wear the same scarf???

Some lovely links on this thread. I usually get scarves at TKMaxx, also some good ones from Primark and Zara have great ones like this

Yes to TK Maxx.

I still want a fly print one.
And a burgundy one.
The bigger, the better.

Corygal Sat 09-Feb-13 21:36:36

Remus - yayayay to yours.

CointreauVersial Sat 09-Feb-13 21:46:45

Liberty - that Zara one is gorgeous.

cocolepew Sat 09-Feb-13 21:55:16

I love the pretty skulls one. I'm going to order one.

Bakingnovice Sat 09-Feb-13 21:55:31

Love the not so great scarf. Great colours.

Don't like skulls. Also like the star one. I've got loads, but can I ask where the feck everyone stores their scarves. I have them folded and often forget the ones that are at the bottom of the pile.

AuntieMaggie Sat 09-Feb-13 22:01:47

Just trying to decide what colour to get the not so great one in...

I have the white one ......

gemma4d Sat 09-Feb-13 22:22:49

I think we need a pressure group to force encourage MN to produce and sell a right proper MN scarf.

Love the nest of vipers!

landofsoapandglory Sat 09-Feb-13 22:35:05

I've already got the elephant one, the cat one and the bird one!

frostfrond Sat 09-Feb-13 22:47:47

Whatever the one Emeila Fox was sporting on Silent Witness the other night

carrie74 Sat 09-Feb-13 22:49:51

Love the Cos one, saw it today in store and nearly bought it (but too busy gossiping),

I already have the Zebra scarf, so can it please be that one as my budget won't stretch to another scarf!!

UterusUterusGhali Sat 09-Feb-13 23:02:15

There's a MN scarf holder dontcha know?!

UterusUterusGhali Sat 09-Feb-13 23:04:00

I like tge skulls but too small.
Primark has some nice cotton snoods ATM.

I love love love the eBay butterfly one!!

iMe Sun 10-Feb-13 01:15:19

Bakingnovice, I store my many scarves on that loopy hanging ikea thing. Sorry, can't link as I'm on my phone.

MooseBeTimeForCoffee Sun 10-Feb-13 02:07:28

Jacksmania how about this one for the Western Canada Mumsnetters?

MooseBeTimeForCoffee Sun 10-Feb-13 02:11:33

Actually, scrap that. I've just seen how much they're changing hands for!

CheerfulYank Sun 10-Feb-13 03:13:38

I need a long floaty scarf? I have a few but they are Not Big Enough.

CheerfulYank Sun 10-Feb-13 03:14:17

That was not meant to be a question. hmm

whoopwhoopbib Sun 10-Feb-13 04:53:53

Little bit excited as I've got the zebra one and now know it's not 'out' yet smile

piemistress Sun 10-Feb-13 04:57:07

Marking place, always space for another scarf!

FellatioNels0n Sun 10-Feb-13 05:08:18

Haven't we finished with butterflies? Aren't they on the way out already? Or is that swallows? confused I get confused.

FellatioNels0n Sun 10-Feb-13 05:09:33

Is the butterfly the new swallow? Or should we now have a new butterfly?

A bumble bee perhaps. Or a rhino. You don't see many rhino scarves about do you? That would be edgy.

FellatioNels0n Sun 10-Feb-13 05:10:03

I mean with rhinos on it. Not rhino hide patterned. That would be boring.

Is this a thread about threads

Jacksmania Sun 10-Feb-13 06:13:34

Yes it is grin

I love the Alexander McQueen one!! Too bad it's so expensive. Given how pricey it is, I should be glad I look really shit in red grin

MrsWolowitzerables Sun 10-Feb-13 07:20:29

Oh I live the pretty skulls one!

Now do I want pink or green or both ?

HanneHolm Sun 10-Feb-13 07:39:30

They're all too small.

Rooneyisalwaysmoaning Sun 10-Feb-13 07:44:07

I don't do floaty scarves. However I have a good line in winter ones grin

Eribe make some beauties but are ££

TKMaxx have a good selection

Trying to remember where my last one came from. Will go look at label..

HanneHolm Sun 10-Feb-13 08:01:23

i got hte stupid elephant one and it was too small. Trying to see how big the original leopard one was and i cant find it.

fuzzpig Sun 10-Feb-13 08:15:41

I like the cheap butterfly ones <sulk>

I've never worn a floaty scarf though. How are you supposed to wear/tie them exactly? [scarf novice emoticon]

Bakingnovice Sun 10-Feb-13 10:16:26

Kind ladies please Please please link to scarf storage solutions!!

I wear my scarves differently. A loop knot if I'm cold, floaty in the summer, straight down and open if it's not a big scarf. But usually wrapped around the neck.

nipersvest Sun 10-Feb-13 10:21:11

diy scarf storage using shower curtain rings!

polyhymnia Sun 10-Feb-13 10:28:53

I have the zebra one from last year in a nice blue-grey. Really like the print - cute and a bit quirky.

Haven't worn it much yet and was wondering if the time for prints of animals was passing - but glad to see that it seems not and will give it an outing soon.

noddyholder Sun 10-Feb-13 10:45:13

Why do you all want to wear the same bloody scarf?

I love the 'not so great scarf' may treat myself to one!

As most of us can't afford bespoke scarves, we all have to settle for mass produced scarves like everyone else wears.

FairyJen Sun 10-Feb-13 11:39:48

I've got the zebra print one in green and it's goregoeus! It's also huge do can be worn in lots of different ways!

Also like the skull print one

HalleLouja Sun 10-Feb-13 11:52:00

Stella and Dot have some nice ones

and here.

I got a nice bird one recommended on mn last year.

HalleLouja Sun 10-Feb-13 11:57:27

This is the bird scarf here.

HanneHolm Sun 10-Feb-13 11:58:30

noddy i dont know.
its the concensus that no one WORE scarves before the animal print one either

noddyholder Sun 10-Feb-13 12:00:28

'bespoke' scarves? never heard of that. Those over sized animal print/floral/skulls etc are everywhere How hard is it? grin

HanneHolm Sun 10-Feb-13 12:01:47

oh noddy. i need your paypal thing and go to twitter have a website to share

AugustaProdworthy Sun 10-Feb-13 12:05:54

so, if a scarf is a 'sign' like the funny handshake one for the Masons, does that mean Mary Berry is a MNer? She's always got one on. Is there a MN way of tying it??

iMe Sun 10-Feb-13 12:19:47

Halle, I need that bird one!

PickledInAPearTree Sun 10-Feb-13 13:50:44

Loads of these are lovely! Thanks people I'm getting on the net later.

HalleLouja Sun 10-Feb-13 14:03:35

The bird one is nice and cheap too.

I checked out M&S and TK Maxx today. The M&S horse one is really horrible fabric. They didn't have the clock one. Nothing in TK Maxx excited me. I did see a lovely Ted Baker one in HoF, but too expensive.

LynetteScavo Sun 10-Feb-13 19:16:15

I'm not sure about the bird scarf.

[ I saw someone wearing this Horse scarf today.]]

It looked really nice on. I tried not to double look and stare. grin

The beagle one is very cute. I might get it for DD.

LynetteScavo Sun 10-Feb-13 19:17:41

I like the beagles but don't like the colours - too wishy washy.

notjustamummythankyou Sun 10-Feb-13 20:18:54

I've noticed the same eBay seller, mymusu, cropping up again and again. They sell the zebra scarf too. Got some nice scarves in their eBay shop. I quite like the grey scarf with white owls on it.

i know - owls. But don't care, so ner

Dancergirl Sun 10-Feb-13 23:13:44

I really like the White stuff butterfly one.

Any other suggestions before I add to basket?

Oooh, I love the horse scarf!

PickledInAPearTree Sun 10-Feb-13 23:42:56

The horse one is nearly sold out, reckon from this thread!

Bakingnovice Mon 11-Feb-13 09:49:13

The horse one is a fiver in pilot. I think it's much better quality too.

So, have we made a decision? <flexes credit card in anticipation>

Coconutty Mon 11-Feb-13 14:23:15

I hate horses, people will think it's a joke everyone eating them recently.I don't want a joke one. It's the female equivalent of a piano tie.

May I suggest something from here? There are some really nice scarves here and for everyone you buy, a scarf is given to a homeless person. I was given one for Christmas and they are really good quality as well.

myalias Mon 11-Feb-13 14:28:36

Scroll down to Emma Watson scotty scarf - simply goergeous costs about £200 though!!!

Dancergirl Mon 11-Feb-13 14:44:13
Ruprekt Mon 11-Feb-13 14:47:59

I have the zebra scarf in bright pink and have had loads of compliments.

Looks great with a black jumper and jeans.

Saltire Mon 11-Feb-13 14:48:25

I completely missed Emma Watsons scarf, I was hmm at the dyed dog!

Plopsicle Mon 11-Feb-13 14:59:09

I have the star print one from china, I have it in the plum colour. Its a nice scarf, took about 3 weeks to arrive though.

I also have the bird print one Hallelouja linked to in a pale pink colour.

I love the original mumsnet scarf though just because it is so big. I have it in purple.

MrsDeVere Mon 11-Feb-13 15:00:18

Ha! I used to dye my dog.
He really didnt mind.

I used to give him a splodge of crazy colour when I was doing my mohawk

Sigh...I miss Giro....sad

dawntigga Mon 11-Feb-13 15:02:12

I love these she's a Mumsnetter (not me I hasten to add) and weaves them herself. They are a bit more expensive but they are handmade and lush.

MrsDeVere Mon 11-Feb-13 15:10:06

£35 for a handwoven scarf? shock

That is nothing!

WingDefence Mon 11-Feb-13 15:15:05

I'm expecting DC2 at the start of April and hope to bf (didn't manage it with DS). A lot of these scarves are approx 70"x40" - would they be large enough to use as a cover when bfing DC in public?

dawntigga Mon 11-Feb-13 15:23:29

I know MrsDeVere I think she undercharges but compared to the other scarves posted it is more expensive.

Wing that will be plenty big enough! I make tents for ds with mine! But don't feel like you have to cover up on public, most people wound even notice and a mahoosive scarf will only draw attention it IMHO. Do what you feel comfortable with, but please don't buy one of those god awful nursing sheilds, do it in style with a funky scarf!!

frostfrond Mon 11-Feb-13 15:44:39

GlaikitFizzog love you name! I always say fizzog and get laughed at

Bearandcub Mon 11-Feb-13 15:49:49

Are there any that have panpipes on them?

MrsDeVere Mon 11-Feb-13 16:13:26

Wing I am rubbish at measurements so cant help you there.
I can offer you my top scarf/newbaby/bfing tip though.

I bought handfuls of those pashmina style scarves from my local market. They are 3 for a fiver there. I got them in lots of different colours.
I wore one all the time when DCs 4 & 5 were little. They are great for cover ups when feeding but come in handy for a makeshift blanket if it suddenly turns chilly (like when you wander bleary eyed into the freezer section in the supermarket grin), they can be tied round you and the baby to help take the weight if you are carrying and draped over the buggy to keep the sun out.

You can sit on them.
They sort of hide your post baby belly a bit when you are wearing them (well I used to tell myself that anyway).

If you get plenty of colours you will always have a coordinated look which always helped me feel a little bit less bleugh in the early post baby days.

<epic pashimina post blush >

Thanks frost! smile

Moominsarehippos Mon 11-Feb-13 16:20:11

I'm on the iPad. Can so done please tell me what the colour mix zebras are saying?

WingDefence Mon 11-Feb-13 16:54:33

Thanks MrsDeVere and fizzgog!
Sorry for derailing the thread - some of the scarves on here are gorgeous and I've just bought one for my mum for Mother's Day smile

BelindaCarlisle Mon 11-Feb-13 17:16:50

MrsDeVere Mon 11-Feb-13 17:19:03

Talking of H&M, they do a lovely butterfly one in the kid's section for about 3 quid!
I am not sure how big it is though. i would have to see it in RL.

BelindaCarlisle Mon 11-Feb-13 17:19:28

these are ok but VERGING on too small

nailak Mon 11-Feb-13 17:21:55

i vote for not so great butterflys

Turquoiseblue Mon 11-Feb-13 21:17:19

maybe worth a look
I m not keen on zebras dogs butterflies etc !

VivaLeBeaver Mon 11-Feb-13 22:22:55

One of the models in Victoria beck hams catwalk show was wearing the MN leopard print scarf.

This spotty one in slate?

Jacksmania Mon 11-Feb-13 23:20:00

Sorry for disappearing. Been in bed with tummy bug.
Will have a proper read back now and see how many scarves I have to buy.

Jacksmania Mon 11-Feb-13 23:22:51

AloeSailor Wed 13-Feb-13 07:18:21

I want a scarf that looks like an army of ants is marching across it.

Hissy Wed 13-Feb-13 07:39:56

The 'not so great' scarf has arrived, it looks WAY better in RL! I have dark hair etc, the colours are perfect for my colouring!

See told you all its looks better IRL! <pokes out tongue>

Jacks I know you are, don't sweat it!! smile

I've also just ordered one of the not great butterfly ones, in dark blue. smile

nipersvest Wed 13-Feb-13 09:02:13

i have a thing about maps and globes, has caught my eye on ebay

opinions please? (mannequin is a bit scary though!)

MrsWolowitzerables Wed 13-Feb-13 12:00:50

Oooooh I really like that one niper

I like the mint and the blue.

<counts pennies>

BeCool Wed 13-Feb-13 13:24:12

nipers map one is my fav (I've looked at them all). I'm thinking yellow .......

I'm still wearing and loving my original MN scarf. Tried to replace it - got butterlies last summer - didn't really wear it. I brought a skull one but didn't like wearing it at all & skulls are more overcooked than leopard print IMO.

I was drawn to the zebras initially but they wore thin really quickly as they are for sale on EVERY London market stall (even the ones selling veggies).

Love the GAP one & the Stella Dot ones but I'm not paying £20/£40 for a scarf <tight wad>

Maps gets my vote

Saltire Wed 13-Feb-13 13:30:02

I like the map one <sits on hands to stop self buying yet naother scarf>
I like it best in the greys though

PointeShoes Wed 13-Feb-13 13:30:39

Sorry I don't know how to do a link ( don't know if its already been said!) but Lush do some really lovely pretty scarves, ive ordered the flower print and pretty in pink ones. They are under 'gifts' then ' knot wrap gift wrap' . I don't think they're that big but they're pretty!!

MadameJosephine Wed 13-Feb-13 14:36:17

I have just taken delivery of two of these in dusky pink and light green. For my mum nd BFF birthdays at the end of the month. They are very soft and a good size for spring/summer <ignores snow outside>

One or both might not make it to their intended recipients!

gypsyfloss Wed 13-Feb-13 17:26:58

Just bought the green and grey ones so easily enabled grin

Hissy Wed 13-Feb-13 21:33:21

Adore the map scarf!

nipersvest Wed 13-Feb-13 21:51:40

map scarves a hit then grin

some more here, different colours

different print, more ordnance survey than world map, but only £3.99!

UterusUterusGhali Thu 14-Feb-13 00:15:14

I've a thing for globes & maps too!

I am so getting the maps one. Have to wait till payday though. I've spent my limit on fripperies this month. sad

nailak Thu 14-Feb-13 00:41:18

dont like the map, when i use that as hijab my head will just look like a globe...

Saltire Thu 14-Feb-13 07:28:29

nailak - sorry i did smile when i read that comment about your head looking like a globegrin.

Moominsarehippos Thu 14-Feb-13 08:40:42

But Nailak if you have one with vipers on it, you'd look like Medusa. I'd go for that!

Ooh I really like the map ones!

MadameJosephine Fri 15-Feb-13 22:08:57

Oooo I like that one amber

VivaLeBeaver Fri 15-Feb-13 22:56:26

Snood rather than scarf but I just got this.

Dorothy Perkins bee snood

HelenofSparta Sat 16-Feb-13 09:12:10

Map one are fab! Has anyone bought one yet? Which one is best......hmmmm....!

MadameJosephine Sat 16-Feb-13 10:01:21

Aarrgghhh viva I love that one too! And the maps! How are we going to decide which one?

BelindaCarlisle Sat 16-Feb-13 11:42:40

Cashmere one too small.

Nagoo Sun 17-Feb-13 08:55:55

I have bought the maps with the orange border. I love it smile

Megatron Sun 17-Feb-13 09:05:06

Oh I really like the bee snood. Hate the maps one apart from the OS one but I suspect I shall be outvoted! smile

I saw a brighter yellow bird scarf in Deichmann today for a fiver, was quite tempted.

I am no longer fussed which scarf 'wins' as I have decided, as an ornamental-scarf-virgin, that I will just get a few different ones! grin

RollerCola Mon 18-Feb-13 08:15:12

I think the reason we all liked the original scarf was its size as well as the pattern - it was massive. Are any of these new ones as big? I like them to hang long down to my waist when wrapped once round my neck, & have some 'volume' if possible. I don't like thin flimsy ones.

The not so great butterfly one is big, not as big as the original but big enough to do what you want. smile

KatoPotato Mon 18-Feb-13 10:46:19

My linked scarf is the same size as the original?

polyhymnia Mon 18-Feb-13 11:30:14

Have some good scarves at bargain prices as result of previous MN recommendations. But am bored now with birds, butterflies, animals, etc (though animal print is a 'classic' which doesn't date, I think).

What I really want is this:

Love the colours and subtle print. Won't be able to afford it this month, though!

Gone for star in wine. Not so great one is full of bloody butterflies, with their sticky out bits and everything.

Follyfoot Mon 18-Feb-13 12:38:45

This one's a bit different...

scottishmummy Mon 18-Feb-13 17:47:20

For spring casting aside heavy knits I like

Not skulls looks really neddy, accessorised with word juicy on yer bahookie

scottishmummy Mon 18-Feb-13 18:00:20

I love birds

Love these:

Coconutty Mon 18-Feb-13 18:31:26

I want it to be big though, like the original one.

scottishmummy Mon 18-Feb-13 18:35:19

Scarf two is absolutely gorgeous

scottishmummy Mon 18-Feb-13 18:38:31

Some gorgeous scarfs, but I do not want scarf everyone else has...

Awks Mon 18-Feb-13 20:04:53
landofsoapandglory Mon 18-Feb-13 20:15:28

Scottishmummy that bird scarf you linked to is on eBay for £8.99, I bought In light pink, but they have ivory too. The ebay shop I got mine from is called Tenki. I have a few scarves from there, they usually deliver in 2 days.

reikizen Mon 18-Feb-13 21:25:00

speaking of scarves does anyone know where i can get one with a tassel on opposite corners(not like a fringe)? They just seem to hang well.

scottishmummy Tue 19-Feb-13 10:16:22

Thank you soapandglory, wil look for the birds scarf
I love accessories, floaty scarves included
But i suppose trick is not getting over done everyone has one scarf

polyhymnia Tue 19-Feb-13 10:19:46

Yes, and everyone seems to have a bird (or butterfly, or little animal) one now. That's why I'm bored with them, however pretty. Am taking a couple of mine round to the charity shop this morning.

scottishmummy Tue 19-Feb-13 10:23:40

Mulberry kicked off the animals, birds thing on scarves
I love a charity shop rummage

polyhymnia Tue 19-Feb-13 11:21:58

Yes, Mulberry kickied it off quite a while back now and IMO it was done to death last year. This isn't fashion snobbery - I'm all for things being affordable - I just am genuinely bored with them because have seen them around so much. That's why I'm going back towards 'plainer' designs, like the spotted scarves someone posted on here and the geometric Comptoir des Cotonniers one I posted.

I'm not bored with my MN leopard print scarf, though, because I think animal print is a timeless look.

Hissy Tue 19-Feb-13 16:43:25

Gosh Nessie your skin tone must be a million miles away from mine, I would look as if I'd bee dug up in any of those colours! grin

I LOVE them, but sadly they HATE my tone.

Plain is good, a good injection of colour (for me anyway) is lovely, whatever the design.

Hissy Tue 19-Feb-13 16:43:39

been, not bee...

Saltire Thu 21-Feb-13 11:01:48

Have any of you been watching The Fixer on BBC with Alex "hotel inspector" Polizzi?
This weeks episode saw her in array of big brightly coloured pashmina type scarves, artistically aranged over the shoulders. of course when i tried it I looked like a bag woman,
One of them was a really lovely deep purple shade

Her scarves are gorgeous. But then so is she envy

casabevron Thu 21-Feb-13 12:51:26

Just received this from Hush in the post this morning (rather confusing, as the website states all Spring preview stock will be dispatched week beginning 4th March confused)

Its polyester, but feels nice, and it's lightweight enough for Spring. It's also a really good size - I like a big scarf. I had been looking for a way to get some neon into my wardrobe without going overboard, as too much too close to my face would not do me any favours, and this works perfectly for me. It's not the cheapest at £35, but there's 10% off and free delivery at the moment, so I talked myself into believing I was getting a bargain grin Love it!

Plopsicle Thu 21-Feb-13 15:52:00

Love that Hush one casa wish it was cheaper.

casabevron Thu 21-Feb-13 18:42:24

Gah, on closer inspection, the scarf is made by Stylesnob. I had a look to see if I could see if I could find anything similar/cheaper and found their website. I think it's time to freeze my credit card in a water- filled tupperware grin

Ginformation Fri 22-Feb-13 00:30:39

Right, well, I have just ordered 2 scarves after reading this thread blush I plumped for the green mulberryesque birds and the navy elephants.

I would like to add orange spots on beige to the mix, in RL the colour is lovely, its quite unusual.

DonderandBlitzen Fri 22-Feb-13 01:14:22

I've seen a really nice scarf around which is ivory coloured with little grey leaves on it. I've tried googling it but can't seem to see it on the net anywhere. I did find one example of it on Google images, but I'm hesitating to post it as it was worn in a courtroom by the sister of a sportsman who has recently shot his girlfriend, so it seems wrong to post that! Anyone know which one I mean and where I can buy it?

AuntLucyInPeru Sat 23-Feb-13 20:50:42

Thanks for the map link. I've bought the yellow one :-)

BelindaCarlisle Sat 23-Feb-13 21:51:48

Map arrived today pink.

Saltire Sun 24-Feb-13 12:26:16

For some reason, I cannot get links to work today but I got a lovely scarf recently.
it is from ebay, seller "1124 fashion" and It is lsited as Noble Wild Fashion Woman Four Seasons Warm Floral Ladies Tassel Scarf ct48. I got it in purple and love it. I am looking at the other colours, but am coming down with scarves jsut now so might ave to sit on my hands for a while

Nagoo Wed 27-Feb-13 18:56:17

Map came today. It's lovely. And massive smile

nilbyname Wed 27-Feb-13 19:03:48

I got the butterfly one on grey linked up thread which is lovely and has been complimented on each time I wear it. I also go the bird fakey mulbery one in pale blue. Not so keen, so giving that one away.

The hush one looks like something I would see in will wait patiently till they copy it.

Love the map thinking of getting it. nagoo what colourway did you go for.

Dont like the floral one. But then I dont really like florals at all.

polyhymnia Wed 27-Feb-13 19:05:34

I don't like the pale blue bird fakey eiiher - got it last summer but will takie it to charity shop as haven't worn it.

nilbyname Wed 27-Feb-13 19:18:30

poly i think the colour looked cheap. What about you?

Meglet Wed 27-Feb-13 22:41:04

I've gone for the pretty skulls one in peach. Not off ebay though, they had one on the high st.

Nagoo Thu 28-Feb-13 00:23:49

I got the orange one. It's not really orange, it's blue and grey with orange border and detail.

spiderbabymum Thu 28-Feb-13 06:30:15

OH FGS has anyone chosen the New mumsnet scarf . I want one !!!!!!!!!

FellNel Thu 28-Feb-13 06:52:36

So do we have a clear winner yet? Only I've skimmed re-read the thread and I'm still none the wiser.

Bakingnovice Thu 28-Feb-13 07:01:09

Can I be very awkward and annoying and ask for a link to the original scarf? There are a thousand variations out there and I want to be sure to get the MN one which is rumoured to be tres long and tres soft. Pretty please someone.

Awks Thu 28-Feb-13 16:51:26

This is a bit like the Hush one, can't find it online though

Awks Thu 28-Feb-13 16:52:08

Argh that one above is from H & M
