How much do you expect to spend on clothes this year? Anyone want to keep track?!

Fizzler99 Wed 23-Jan-13 22:55:52

I have not bought anything so far........

Bella88 Thu 24-Jan-13 01:30:11

Fuck no shock

stargirl1701 Thu 24-Jan-13 02:15:55

£0 I expect. I have plenty of clothes already. I might need to buy socks as some are a little threadbare at the heels.

scarlet76 Thu 24-Jan-13 07:15:22

Oh God I so need to do this! Getting the house in shape this year so less to spend on me :-(
Right, what have I bought since January?
ASOS burgundy leather biker jacket - £120 - majority of this was xmas money though.
I have my eye on a grey Boden jumper in clearance at £32.
I will probably try and limit myself to £70 month spend.

I've bought a coat for £50. Think that's it so far!

SaraBellumHertz Thu 24-Jan-13 07:31:28

I really am more size 12 than 10 now so would like to be down to 8/10 rather than 10/12 before I start spending.

Than when I do I have zero intention of keeping track of it - I'd rather live in denial grin

lupo Thu 24-Jan-13 08:01:49

yes, i keep track, write down what i buy and spend on clothes each month, trying to stick to 50 a month as already have lots of nice stuff, at the moment soend is about 65 a month

Mrsap Thu 24-Jan-13 12:56:45

No. I would cry and have to face help for my shoe habit.

Mrsap Thu 24-Jan-13 12:57:15

Or even "seek" helpgrin

Annianni Thu 24-Jan-13 13:00:25

Ha ha ha.... no chance!

Off the top of my head so far this year I have bought a pair of jeans, 2 pairs of wedge trainers, 2 cardigans, 2 tops and a scarf.

Annianni Thu 24-Jan-13 13:01:18

Oh, and a jumper.

Leather leggings, Wang dress, Aubin&wills sweater, Goldsign and Paige jeans, Jigsaw top. All sale and eBay buys. Coming in at just over £300 so far - not too painful!

Ladyflip Thu 24-Jan-13 14:47:23

Eek! I'm quite glad I bought loads in the sales on New Year's Eve, which obviously doesn't count for this year.grin Bought 2 jumpers in the Woolover sale and a Lazy Jacks top in clearance yesterday. And some tights. About £60?

RSVP Thu 24-Jan-13 14:50:55

Ok, I'm in! I really need to keep track
January:
donna ida cashmere jumper £42
tesco cashmere jumper £20
mango trousers x2 £30
marks&spencer casual dress £12, vests £1.50, tummy control briefs x2 £4
tk maxx work dress £30, wide leg trousers £30, under wired body £11
total: £178.50 [faints]

to be fair they're all from the sales of the sales and I got £80 TKmaxx vouchers for Christmas but still...

I will to keep it under £50 each month despite that fact I need a two pair of shoes

chanie44 Thu 24-Jan-13 16:08:35

£20 so far on a pair of skinny jeans and a tshirt from new look. A few people on here have recommended the jeans so I thought I'd give them a go.

CaroleService Thu 24-Jan-13 16:16:04

Reed Krakoff bag £629
Tory Burch bag £189
Celtic Sheepskin coat £325
Boden sale dresses ...
Jaeger sale dress ...

Too scared to keep counting.

I really have to stop spending.

EmpressMaud Thu 24-Jan-13 16:20:09

I'd also prefer to remain in ignorance. I even go so far as to avert my eyes when looking at account history on shopping sites.

mirpuppet Thu 24-Jan-13 16:23:33

I'm sure it will be over 1000 pounds for the year.

I'm at 50 pounds for January and its not over yet.

NoraSpect Thu 24-Jan-13 16:37:14

God no. I've spent to much already.

The good thing is, like some previous posters, I did the worst of my spending in December.

shine0ncrazydiamond Thu 24-Jan-13 17:20:24

I spend too much. Probably around £1800 a year.

Christ!

SaraBellumHertz Thu 24-Jan-13 17:53:07

Actually I haven't spent anything this month smile

December however was a shocking month - at least it counts as last year though!

I live in the sun so winter sale shopping is no good for me. And seasonal stores mean I've not been able to buy much since the summer sales. The next couple if months will be very hard going trying to resist!

gowerbeauty Thu 24-Jan-13 18:11:02

Why would anyone want to know how much is spent on clothes? Do you like having your nose rubbed in it by those S&B posters who are all too willing to mention the not inconsiderable sums spent on designer clobber. The guilty parties know who they are!!

shine0ncrazydiamond Thu 24-Jan-13 18:37:24

Umm, it's the S and B topic - not the competitive poor topic. MN really need to get one of those... Why post on what is a lighthearted thread? Weird.

Lakota Thu 24-Jan-13 19:20:47

I've spent £232 so far, which is loads for me, however I do keep a spreadsheet and have noticed I always spend far more at the beginning of the year and hardly anything in the Summer. Also, if I'd bought it all full price it would have been £406, so I feel better!

A lot of it was gym stuff and new trainers to reward me for keeping up with working out. Otherwise I've bought 3 tops (Warehouse and Red Herring) and 3 dresses (People Tree sale).

Sigh, I wondered how long before one would crawl out of the woodwork. It's been noticeably pleasant since the handbag vs. bench thread. Do you go on to good housekeeping and slag people off for buying KitchenAids and Miele too?

chewingguminmyhair Thu 24-Jan-13 19:34:59

What's the handbag vs bench thread?

I saw the title of this post and thought 'I wonder what ambernectarine has bought!' Your reputation proceeds you grin

I've bought a bag, which I'm taking back. That's it.

ihatethecold Thu 24-Jan-13 19:47:55

Just ignore and enjoy your purchases!

dexter73 Thu 24-Jan-13 19:59:35

Just bought a new apron so that's £12.99!
You always get someone who has to suck all the fun out of a thread don't you.

cloutiedumpling Thu 24-Jan-13 21:03:20

I think I've spent about £250. 2 pairs of shoes and one pair of boots for work from the Clarks sale for about £125 and a tweed jacket and 3 tops to wear to work from the Boden sale. I don't feel at all guilty. I've gone back to work after maternity leave and will wear everything until it falls into holes. I always buy more at this time of year because I think I suit winter colours more than summer ones but will wear things like shoes and cotton tops all year round.

libertychick Thu 24-Jan-13 21:05:17

In January I have spent £462 on a Gerard Darel dress and trousers, APC jumper, wool scarf at TKMaxx, Woolovers black jumper, sweater, shirt and silk blouse from Aubin and Wills, cowl neck animal print top from Micheal Michael Kors, denim shirt and breton top from oasis. Apart from the oasis stuff everything was in the sales and I have just worked out that my average discount was 56% smile

I went back and had a look at this thread from last July on the same topic and at that point I had spent a similar sum for the first 6 months of last year. For that I had bought 17 items, mostly a lot cheaper and of the 17, 2 have already been binned blush and 7 more are likely to go by the time I finish my current wardrobe sort out mission. The January shopping was based on a list I have done of wardrobe gaps and it will be interesting to see in 6 months time if my 'retain' rate has improved.

Of the 17 from last July, 4 are now staples, a Peony and Moore bag, Hobbs top and skirt and Zara scarf which seems to mostly support the theory of 'buy less and buy well'.

For the rest of this year I am giving myself a budget of £100 per month.

MarshaBrady Thu 24-Jan-13 21:05:56

Two J Crew tshirts. Reduced to £15 each.

And Aubin&Wills cream cable jumper and Karl black skinnies, both reduced to around £100 in total. But I have sent those back.

So letting the side down really.

Lol at the idea I'm Rockerfeller.

Added up the RRP of my purchases and it was £1340, so I'm actually very frugal, so ner <pokes tongue>

MarshaBrady Thu 24-Jan-13 21:17:53

You also have a wedge trainer in your name Amber.

The ultimate accolade.

I need to catch up, badly. But I'm going to blame the hideous Australian exchange rate and a holiday for my January tardiness.

MarshaBrady Thu 24-Jan-13 21:18:44

Obviously known as The Amber.

axure Thu 24-Jan-13 21:34:30

I'm trying to be frugal but have succumbed and made 2 purchases in Jan, a small Radley suede bag, £109 down to £61 and a pair of Ecco boots from £110 to £59. Didn't really need either but they are both plain black and should last for a few years. Would love to have £££ to spend every month, unfortunately the family expect to be fed...

fuckadoodlepoopoo Thu 24-Jan-13 21:41:21

Wow Im so jealous of all you that have money to spend on clothes. I look tatty and poor most of the time with holes in my second hand clothes. I sew them up of course but still look poor.

alemci Thu 24-Jan-13 21:42:01

Yes great idea.

£27 Hobbs cardigan
£20 tights, knickers, socks M & S
£24 Monsoon skirt.
£12.50 Boden Top
£23.40 " " skirt

Do try not to buy stuff but these are all sale bargains so money well spent

I have also sold some stuff on ebay so not all spending.

libertychick Thu 24-Jan-13 21:46:10

Bloody hell Amber you have kicked my ass in the 'who has saved the most' game - my RRP was £918.

It is a pain having to feed those families axure - the things I could buy otherwise!

noviceoftheday Thu 24-Jan-13 22:02:14

I was about to say I hadn't bought anything for myself this year then remembered that I bought a new trench coat a few days before the snow began hmm. Oh and 2 new trousers. All at banana republic in the US and paid approx $175 in total which was great. Also thinking of getting a balenciaga bag. It is better not to remember what I have spent!

joliejolie Thu 24-Jan-13 22:49:13

I've recently lost A LOT of weight, so I've spent loads in the sales this year. I mean loads. I needed new clothes though and more than half of the money I spent was eBay funds.

Then there's the bargains like the Olive and Orange lambswool dress I found at a charity shop this morning for £10!!!!

liberty you have made me laugh digging up that thread. I'm clearly not getting any better, am I?

libertychick Fri 25-Jan-13 10:40:50

Your post about bargain finding on that thread is a classic Amber I learned a lot from it.

I have decided to stop feeling guilty about buying clothes. I spend at a level I can afford, I have a job that requires me to look professional and smart, looking good is good for the soul and fashion is fun!

CremeEggThief Fri 25-Jan-13 10:47:43

Some Converse on Amazon for £38, so far.

Aiming to spend no more than £45 per month. I urgently need new jeans and socks, and will also need a couple of pairs of ballet flats, Birkenstocks and underwear, as the year goes on.

Pandsbear Fri 25-Jan-13 13:00:55

Well I was feeling all smug and thinking I hadn't bought anything...then realised: Toast trousers (£46), 2 x underwear sets (£90) and 2 x tights Primark warm ones (£7). Oh and some wool socks and hat and scarf £45-ish. For me that is quite a lot - need to keep my eyes (and credit card) well away from clothing for a couple of months now grin.

Ilovemyteddy Fri 25-Jan-13 13:19:11

Like Joliejolie I've also lost a lot of weight in the last year and have hit the sales. Having been obese for the whole of my adult life until now, I am still experimenting with finding my style and what suits me (and have been lurking on S&B for tips!).

Have just done a quick reccy-up in my wardrobe and reckon that I've spent about £350 so far, although all very bargainous buys (probably close to £1000 of clothes at full price.). Best buy was an Alice Temperley top reduced from £195 to £35.

I have been buying from charity shops over the last year as I decreased in size, and still look from time to time. Got a Kaliko sweater and a Banana Republic shirt for a tenner for the two this morning.

However I also spent £150 on the yellow-gold Alex Monroe bumblebee necklace, but we were burgled just before Christmas and I lost most of my jewellery and am now replacing it, so it doesn't count in my 'how much I've spent on clothes already this year' grin

Dress, top and coat from Great Plains - £80
Day Birger Cashmere sweater - £100 (- £50 vouchers)
Blouse, 2 linen t shirts and jeans - Zara - £70 (-£70 vouchers)
Cashmere mix gloves - Uniqlo - £12
Cashmere gloves, wristwarmers and scarf - Celtic - £60
Sweatshirt - H&M - £3.99
White jeans - Gap - £13.99
Massimo Dutti - 2 pairs of trousers - £60

So about £280 plus vouchers. But all in the sales and some it it was for work, so practically almost necessary.

QuiteOldGal Fri 25-Jan-13 14:19:55

Lots of sale stuff

Boden - 3 x chinos, 1 x cardigan 2 x tops 1 x mac 1 x cords, total about £215

M & S - Underwear from sale, total about £35 was my usual underwear and got lots so a bargain. Autograph boots £19, Twiggy brogues £15, both very reduced. 3 x black work cardigans total £33 in sale

Longtallsally coat £52 in sale, can only buy tall coats because of ape like arms.

Whoops, thats £369, but it was in the sale so saved loads and all wanted needed, probably won't get anything for a while now.

QueefLatina Fri 25-Jan-13 14:25:38

Not bad so far for me.

A Zatchels neon pink saddlebag for £46 in the sale at House of Fraser.

I've got a wardrobe gaps list that I'll work my way through this year. Hopefully more won't creep on to the list!

I'm giving up on 'summer clothes'. I'll just wear fewer layers of my winter clothes and buy some shorts!

I was recently looking for the perfect white man style shirt until I realised that DH has a million white shirts! I'm now raiding his wardrobe for stuff.

It helps that my clothes are usually black, grey, white or pink so everything goes with each other.

jenny99 Fri 25-Jan-13 18:03:00

Oh my....this looked interesting so I started reading and now it is costing me a fortune!!! I thought I hadn't bought anything yet this year then I remembered the new gym stuff from Sweaty Betty and trainers too (which I got for £95 instead of £120. My husband didnt appreciate what a bargain they were. Also got a gorgeous top half price in the sale from Sandro.

Now I NEED a burgundy biker jacket, wedge trainers, a new Tory Burch bag....and I'm too scared to read any more posts so my wish list doesn't grow!!!

higgle Fri 25-Jan-13 18:16:44

A dress and two tops from the Toast sale, total about £80. I allow myself £100 a month, but don't think I'll spend it this year as I have loads of stuff already, just need to be a it thinner to fit in it.

CointreauVersial Fri 25-Jan-13 18:35:46

Dress, skinnies and blouse from Zara £55
2 x jumpers from Mango £50
Skirt from Next £16
Scarf from John Lewis £15
2 x cardigans from charity shop £9
T-shirt from Asda (classy) £8

All in the Sales (apart from the last two).

Also waiting on a furry gilet from Mango £30

blush Looks loads when written down.

dexter73 Fri 25-Jan-13 19:11:09

10 buttons for coat £5.60
Goldsign jeans £67
360 grey cashmere jumper £53
Zoe Karssen t-shirt £12
Boden Skye jumper £34.50
so total of £171.50, but rrp of just over £600 as jeans, jumper and t-shirt had 75% off and Boden jumper had 50% off.

SoldeInvierno Fri 25-Jan-13 19:20:08

Let's see...

Coat: £100
Boots: £130
Shoes: £55
Shoes: £30

that makes £315, right? Jeeesss, I wished I hadn't started counting. I am definitely buying nothing in february!

SoldeInvierno Fri 25-Jan-13 19:20:55

oh, and I forgot the pair of jeans from Uniqlo. That'll be £345 in total then. :-(

dexter73 Fri 25-Jan-13 19:22:16

Ooops! forgot these!!

SassySask Fri 25-Jan-13 19:54:50

3 pair of shoes - £2800
Wildfox jumper - £100
Underwear & dressing gown - £65
Wildfox top - £70

Fuck me, I'm stopping!!

dexter73 Fri 25-Jan-13 20:00:33

Do you mean £280 for the shoes or £2800?!!

They must be some nice shoes....

Matsikula Fri 25-Jan-13 21:00:47

I want to keep track - I wrote down everything except underwear, socks and tights last year (and posted it on that July thread). It was really useful in helping me to identify some bad habits, mainly that the stuff I buy when I am desperate for something new and have been on a rare shopping trip, often turns out to be a mistake. But when I plan a big purchase, I tend to get loads of wear out of it, and really enjoy it.

So I am slightly dismayed to report that this month I have bought a navy cotton top from massimo dutti(£30), some flat sparkly pointed toe lace up shoes (£45) also from massimo dutti, a striped top from gap (£13) and a navy woollen bobble hat (£25). None really planned purchases. I did sale shop in December as well - some hobbs wool trousers and an Anglomania dress.

Actually having worked out a maximum budget per month I am gutted that it meant I could not buy a beautiful navy Tara jarmon princess line coat today - half price and the kind of thing you dream of finding in the sales. I just couldn't justify it when I like the coats I already have.

MarshaBrady Fri 25-Jan-13 21:08:12

I can add jumper £75 reduced from £250 or something. Just slips in at end of month.

Just think of all the money we've collectively saved. <parsimonious>

MarshaBrady Fri 25-Jan-13 21:15:25

I know, it's loads <collective back pat>

Milliways Fri 25-Jan-13 21:37:15

A LOT less than last year! I had DDs graduation AND her wedding to buy for smile That also included a new winter coat, shoes & a bag.

I need some new trousers & tops for work, and probably a few summer holiday Tshirts, and I would love a new jumper next winter. Oh, and some work shoes. Probably £300.

SassySask Fri 25-Jan-13 23:00:57

I like shoes :/ but hardly ever wear the decent ones! Seriously need to curb that addiction!

Murraylover Sat 26-Jan-13 10:57:19

I do keep track. Use a Visa (&pay off monthly) for any 'extras' incl clothes/holidays. Using same to check £££ going monthly on petrol too. Some say a mean trick or wise move - takes away the denial!

alemci Sun 27-Jan-13 14:51:01

We have a credit card and i always use it to buy clothes. I also have my own M&S card and sometimes use that instead. Usually go through credit card bill with a a highlighter for my stuff. always pay it off.

Went shopping Friday

Jeans J Lewis £24.50 sale - haven't tried them on yet so may go back
scarf £3.60 Monsoon

some boots and Body shop stuff too

today bought some welly liners and tights but they got absorbed into the grocery shop.

scarlet76 Sun 27-Jan-13 15:01:09

Jenny99 - I recently got a lovely burgundy leather biker jacket from ASOS.
Well, I gave in and ordered the charcoal jumper in the Boden sale.
I have also ordered a couple of dresses from Next petite range. One of them for a wedding in September if I like.

jenny99 Sun 27-Jan-13 19:50:15

scarlet76 thank you I read that in your earlier post and googled it. It's gorgeous! How many leather jackets does a girl need? Altho they are all different colours and burgundy looks gorgeous. Would go with the amazing d&g burgundy boots I bought in Bicester in December...reduced from £774 to £165 !!!!! (I LOVE them but they are very uncomfortable!!) (don't tell my husband that!)

All the nicest shoes are. I am still nursing infected blisters from wearing Louboutins two weeks ago.

Mrsrobertduvall Sun 27-Jan-13 20:05:57

A Wallis top about £30.

That's it so far.
However...I went to Crispins shoe shop on Saturday (shoes for big feet) and tried on a lot. I have earmarked about 5 pairs, but can't bring myself to buy suede wedge sandals in January. So approximately £600 there.

I plan to get 2 pairs of James hunter jeans, in dark denim and black, ...that'll be about £350.

MirandaWest Sun 27-Jan-13 20:12:23

I think all I've spent so far this year is about £16 on running clothes. Could do with some more things but trying to be sensible this year.

scarlet76 Sun 27-Jan-13 20:13:44

jenny99 - it's the only one I have but wear it lots and colour is very versatile. Black can look a bit harsh on me at times so burgundy is a good alternative.

scarlet76 Sun 27-Jan-13 20:17:56

Yes, I am good in the sense that I don't have a credit card or an overdraft facility. All money I spend is my own. But as I need to spend on the house this year, I must show restraint.
Although the bloody Zatchels bag from another thread is calling me :-\

MamaGeekChic Sun 27-Jan-13 20:23:12

Very glad that december isn't included- I splurged!!

Jan so far:
2 plain vests and 2 plain tops from H&M- £24
Anya Hindmarch mini gracie- £198

I expect I spend at least £2500 per year. (No debt, less than 5% of my take home pay)

MamaGeekChic Sun 27-Jan-13 20:31:45

Just read that back and it sounds like a boast at the end, unintentional, I was just trying to head off any comments about being irresponsible etc...

BellaVita Sun 27-Jan-13 20:37:11

Reiss sweater £84 (sale)
Two pair of Nine West Shoes £39 each (sale)
Pair of Moda in Pelle suede shoe boots £99

I need a new pair of jeans, however French Connection do not appear to have the jeans that I have bought from them before sad

noviceoftheday Sun 27-Jan-13 20:38:59

AmberNectarine your Louboutin's weren't the plain patent leather court shoes were they?

They are the patent pigalles, so the super pointy ones. Gorgeous shoes, but they have buggered my feet!

MamaGeekChic Sun 27-Jan-13 20:44:50

I bought the black plain patent courts (simple pump 100) in december Novice, i love them! I'm currently considering the nude pigalles Amber- are they very uncomfortable?

Actually I've worn them a few times before this and found them fine. I did do a lot of dancing and walking in them that night - they are definitely cab shoes.

MamaGeekChic Sun 27-Jan-13 20:50:13

Oh dear, it was for an event where much drinking and dancing is involved. Was going to wear some nude prada numbers but they definitely cab shoes sad back to the drawing board...

noviceoftheday Sun 27-Jan-13 20:51:58

Aaargh. Thank you both. I don't know what to do now. I have just bought the Pigalle 85 patent-leather pumps (I had a bit of an online spree yesterday) as I love the way they look. I like my heels to be very comfortable so it almost doesn't feel like I am wearing them. Their for work so vanity can't win as I have to be able to wear them all day. . Am I going to suffe?

Oh I've got the 100s, the 85s are better, I had a pair of those previously.

MamaGeekChic Sun 27-Jan-13 20:56:10

I wear the SP100s all day at work and find them really comfy. I'd love to here how you get on with the pigalles, not planning on purchasing until I'm in London next week.

noviceoftheday Sun 27-Jan-13 20:59:36

Okay, thanks AmberNectarine, that's comforting to know! Are you able to compare them to similar shoes by Jimmy Choo, Rupert Sanderson or Russell & Bromley? These are my usual high heels shoe places and all are v comfortable. I can run for a train in those!.

Never got on with heeled Choos, so better than those. 85s equivalent comfort to my R&B mid heel courts and Michael Kors pointy pumps. Never owned RS only tried in store.

noviceoftheday Sun 27-Jan-13 21:07:47

Thank you! I am excited again grin. I was mostly loyal to Choos for years but it feels like the quality has gone down as their popularity has gone up so haven't bought a new one for about 2 years.

MamaGeekChic, I got them from net a porter last night so will prob arrive at the end of the week. I will let you know. Thanks!

Mominatrix Sun 27-Jan-13 21:09:15

I'd be too frightened to tally things up. It might be used as evidence against me. I have been very good and avoided most of the sales (only purchased a dress at Whistles for £65). Oh, and some things in the J Crew sale, but that was in $us and I won't receive them until summer, so does not count. However, there IS a dress I have my eye on. Must sit on my hands and avoid Matches!

I wanted the JC navy leopard suede slippers this season, as they looked good in store. Also after a pair of CL 85s for work, maybe the simple pumps.

Mominatrix Sun 27-Jan-13 21:11:22

Novice, I find rupert Sanderson more comfortable than louboutin. However, the most comfortable stiletto is Manolo Blahnik.

Link please Mominatrix!

SilverSixpence Sun 27-Jan-13 21:20:49

I need to do this too!
So far in January,
Hush joggers and knit harems £30
Boden cashmere cardigan and 2xboyfriend merino cardigans £80
Ruby and Ed slippers £18
Anthropologie silk dress £50
breastfeeding top and bras £50
lace crochet top £13
topshop shoes £25
Scarves x4 £20

Mostly ebay buys and sale bargains, but adds up to quite a lot :s hopefully that will be it for a while now, will try and limit myself to £50 a month from now on.

noviceoftheday Sun 27-Jan-13 21:23:10

Oooh that's interesting one into the equation Mominatrix. For years I wanted the Mary Jane Manolos in black patent. So so beautiful. Sigh. I could never get them in my size, so in the end I got the Choo version. Thats the last time I bought Choos.

skaen Sun 27-Jan-13 21:29:31

I was doing really well this January after a disastrous December. I'd bought an LK Bennett bnwt dress from ebay for £20. Then I fit the flyer through for the me and em sake and have just spent £100 there.

I need to not spend anything for Feb because there are birthdays and car insurance but after that, I will stick to a £150 monthly limit.

Hopefully Sun 27-Jan-13 21:58:59

Love this thread! I don't think January has been awful so far, assuming I am remembering everything:

- toast leg warmers £20
- silk kimono top £95

Ermmm, actually that's it. February wi be worse as I am having a suit jacket made and need to get a few other bits. I budget around £150 a month, but occasionally splurge on special things so average at about £200. I justify it on the basis that looking vaguely stylish is my job (personal image consultant/personal stylist).

Hopefully Sun 27-Jan-13 22:00:43

Ooh, also a Me&Em dress in the sale for £75, but that was paid for by selling (and was bought to replace) two garments in bad colours for me.

Amber, it is this one. I'd need to try it on, and it is very different from anything I have purchased before in terms of pattern, but the shape is very classic. I'm trying to hold out until June and the sales!

Novice, see if you can try on a pair in your size and heel height. You will see what I mean about comfortable. In fact, they are my most comfortable heels I own.

I have spent a lot for me, in January and December. But that's because I refuse to buy anything at full price, so hit the sales hard!

I'll only know exactly how much I've spent when I do my tax smile.

I love that mominatrix. PP stuff is always so detailed and different. How did you get on with your Prada from last year? Have you worn much?

Mominatrix, I will definitely make the effort to try again as you're totally selling it and I do love that shoe! Sigh. In the meanwhile I have had emails from matches and netaporter to say my weekend purchases are on their way. smile

I've admired PP from the side for a couple years, but was always scared off by the colour and the boldness of pattern. It is actually DH who convinced me that I needed something like this in my wardrobe (he is my enabler!).

I wore the Prada dress a couple times last year, but I know it is something I will be able to continue to wear. Yes, it will be dated, but it is such a happy dress that I'll happily wear it, despite not being in fashion anymore. Can't wait for the warm weather to look for another occasion to wear it.

What did you get from NAP and Matches, novice?

Mom that dress is amazing. I love PP prints, although the colours are never right for me.

The PP dress is amazing Monimatrix and will look fantastic on you. Your dh is a good enabler!

I love thinking about a design for ages then finally getting something. Saloni, Derek Lam and have seen a few Prabal Gurung things float by on pin. One day.

Mominatrix, I got the Chloe Marcie bag from matches [[http://www.matchesfashion.com/Product/138215 ]]. From nap, I got the Louboutins www.net-a-porter.com/product/331072 and this dvf www.net-a-porter.com/product/367880.

That PP dress is beautiful, I couldn't carry it off though!!

Quick January Round up from me:
ASOS burgundy leather jacket £120 but £100 of that was money given to me for xmas.
Boden charcoal jumper ordered but sent back as ugly 'marl' colour and tight.
Black spot dress from Next £40
£60 for January brings me in under budget!!

Anyone still doing this? I'm shocked at how much I've spent!

I've decided to have no spend months every other month, am hoping this will begin to naturally curb my spending habits!!!

Oh Christ, I thought I was doing quite well but it's more than doubled since I last posted on this thread. I have done loads of ebaying though <redeems self>

daisie4 Tue 19-Feb-13 20:11:22

Some of my purchases are for summer, so I'm not sure they really count until August grin

scarlet76 Tue 19-Feb-13 21:42:38

My £70 per month budget has failed in February after a good January.
This month:
Boden spotty shirt £33
Boden button back jumper £50
Topshop burgundy spotty dress £38
M&S Limited collection linen T £20
M&S Limited collection vest £7.50
Clarks shoe boots £50

yikes! In fairness I am selling some old stuff on ebay and as it stands, look to make at least £100 so that will reduce the over spend a little.
