What items have you bought that you've then spotted on a sleb? Was it somebody fashionable or a saddo?
I bought a dress from oasis to wear to a wedding. Then spotted on Gillian mckeith. Needless to say, it went straight to the charity shop.
A work top spotted on Sonia Jackson and Tracey Barlow (the characters not the actresses). Couldn't wear it knowing that I had the same clothes as frumpy Sonia.
I have quite a few blouses from Jigsaw which I've seen on Kirstie Allsop.. Don't know what that says about me!
Many years ago, when I was young and daft I had some beautiful Jimmy Choo shoes. I spotted them on Naomi Campbell and Liz Hurley.
I unfortunately trashed mine by wearing them out clubbing.
I had a beautiful monsoon cardigan that I saw Lorraine Kelly wearing.
After that it just made me feel mumsy so I gave it to my sister who hadn't seen LK wearing it and still loved it.
I was most upset last year, when I discovered that Alex Gerrard had the same pram as me, although in a different colour.
So that probably cancels out my shoe claim
I bought a dress in Selfridges last week and the sales assistant was at pains to tell me Katie Price had come in and tried it on. I still bought it!
I have the same padded coat as Katie Holmes, I'm sure of it. The funniest is when I saw Peter Kaye's Geraldine in the same Zara dress as me, gutted!
A couple of years ago, a M & S Autograph striped T shirt which i really liked until I kept seeing it on big Mo in Eastenders.
I saw a pic of Chantelle from Big Brother with the same Kurt Geiger platform sandals as me!
A top that I loved until Eileen in Corrie wore it. As a kid I saw a pair of leggings I had on one of the PG Tips chimps.
Freepeace you have made my day, pg tips chimps

Boden navy merino sleeveless cardi - on Miranda!
Oooh... I've just remembered a very ordinary top from M&S that i used to stick on with jeans that I saw on one of the family members of the X Factor girl who hit her friend in the face.
Straight in the charity shop bag.
I bought the cream dress with the ruffle down the front that Kate Middleton wore for the engagement photos. I had bought it online and found it too big, then they sold out instantly so I sold mine on ebay for a fortune! (It went to Japan)
My first MAC lippy. Saw Pete Burns wearing it on CBB.
Went right off MAC.
Not a celeb but the glee wardrobe people clearly shopped in babygap for the adopted girl last season, DD had a few matching outfits.
We also have the same pram as Natalie Cassidy, every time I see a pic of her with it I want to scream that she's got the front wheel in backwards.
I had a nice but unexceptional draped patterned viscose summer work dress from the HOF sale which I saw on a middle aged (perhaps 5 years older than me) consultant psychiatrist on a documentary about OCD. She seemed nice, but I didn't hear a word she said because I was too busy thinking "does it look good on her? Is she the same shape as me? Is it ok for me to wear the same thing as this older woman? Should I style it the same way she has?"
Oh and I bought a lovely flowery shirt for DS in the Next sale which he adored. We called it his James May shirt because it was the sort of thing JM wore. The BBC then did an advert for Top Gear playing on the fact that the presenters are overgrown boys, with children playing the roles of "junior JC/JM/RH". Inevitably the mini James was wearing DS's "James May shirt" and we were irrationally happy and excited about this.
Fizz and Izzy from Corrie appear to share my wardrobe. I've yet to see them in Dot Perks
Went to see the Stone Roses last summer, dressed for an outside evening gig during British summer so wearing Hunter wellies and a very bright blue polar quilt Barbour international, already a fashion crime in mumsnet terms. One of the supports was Plan B. He started proceedings in a suit, but part way through the set disappeared and changed into a blue quilted jacket. Now I don't believe it was actually a Barbour but this did not stop DH and everyone else I was with roundly taking the piss. Jacket is now known, particularly to my teenage sons, as the Plan B jacket and I haven't really brought myself to wear it since.
I bought a top from next in the sale that I wore for drinks and nibbles at ours on NYE.
I then spotted it on a chavvy lottery winner on a tv ad. Does that count? Looked horrendous on her, I hope it looked slightly better on me.
Years - Spice Girls era - ago I had really funky pair of NOSE skate shoes in red & turquoise, that I later spotted Brad Pitt in.
I loved those shoes, they made me feel like a cartoon character
.
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nose-Shoes-Trainers-1996-Mag-Advert-2365-/290592676146 mine (and Brads) were prettier!
About 5 years ago, I had a beautiful black tunic dress with a pattern round the neck/cuffs and a paisley print around the hem. Wore it a few times then Heat magazine printed a pic of Kate Moss wearing it, which a colleague torn out and stuck on the wall at work. A few weeks later, an H&M cardigan (ceruleum blue with black love hearts) I owned was featured in the mag on a different celeb. I wasn't impressed.
Most recently, I had the Whistles Bella blue print dress Kate Middleton has. I'd never worn it as I wasn't sure about it and then when she was photographed wearing it, I went off it completely. Sold it on ebay for the exact price I paid for it although could probably have made heaps more as at that stage, Whistles hadn't reissued it.
I used to have a pair of those NOSE trainers (in black). I have a Gap jersey navy top that I spotted Sam Brick wearing when she appeared on Good Morning (or whatever its called with Philip S)
Not me, but keanu reeves was papped on a motorbike last year wearing the same merrell shoes as my dh has.
I have one pair of posh shoes - Jimmy Choo Vamp (my 40th bday present) and after choosing them I googled and discovered they're quite popular amongst celebs, including Kate Middleton. Not quite decided if it's a good or bad thing!
Bloody Alexa Chung is always copying me
Cat Slater had the same top as me once.
Don't think I ever wore it again.
Bianca in EE has my dressing gown, from next.
My MIL bought a new coat and saw Hayley off corrie in it. Neve wore it again.
This is going back a bit; my mum bought me a 'smart top' from dunnes
store I think, I wore it one evening in my uni halls someone pointed at Irene in Eastenders and said "isn't that your top?"

more recently; I saw Heidi Range wearing an exact miss selfridge print tunic that iv got
and 'Carly' in the inbetweeners was wearing 'my' topshop cropped cardi
I'm sure there's more....
I have a grey denim French connection jacket that is quite old, but I love it. One of the girls off Charmed has it.... Also swear one of my sainsburys tops was worn this week by someone in eastenders.... But couldn't really believe it
This might out me, but friend of mine splurged on a blue Issa dress for her going away dress (wedding), then it was worn by Kate Middleton for her official engagement announcement. Friend ended up with perhaps the most recognisable dress in recent memory. She rang me up when the engagement was announced hissing "turn your TV on now!"
I had a top that I dawn a character in corrie wearing and then Jack and Veranda had our duvet cover.
Mil used to buy us stuff from C&A (shows age here) which I would often spot on emmerdale.
Jack and Veranda
excellent typo
I have a blue flowery dress from french connection. My DH spotted it in American Pie the reunion on the 'choir girl priss' (cant remember her name). Does that count?
I have a very distinctive silk La Redoute dress, and I noticed yesterday that it has a starring role in the Mr Bean film.
Ian Beale on Eastenders used to have our living room shelving (Ikea).
Another Miranda & Boden top - a tunic which I loved & all my younger friends always complimented me on. DH finds this v.amusing
I bought a dress to wear to my wedding and then spotted whatserface wearing it on Strictly.
I wore another dress anyway after all.
I bought my STBExH a Ted Baker shirt that I later saw Sean Locke (comedian) wearing. Trying to eBay it at the mo - plus a whole load of other stuff that ex left in wardrobe and hasn't bothered coming back for
My lovely Zara stud sleeve coat
Ff a week and Coleen I can afford anything Rooney was wearing it
.... But it was also on gossip girl so I'm clearly in good tastes!
I don't know if this counts but I bought a swaddling blanket for dd and a few weeks after she was born saw Jamie and Joules Oliver bringing one of their dc home from.being born wrapped in the exact same one
I bought a wrap style dress from h&m sale couple of years ago, only £5. Then saw interior designer on This Morning and Lorraine wearing it twice. Don't know her name.
I remember years ago that I had a top that I saw on Little Mo (Kat Slater's sister)from Eastenders I think it was from next - shame I used to love that top.
Then I had a lovely Ralph Lauren green padded jacket that J Lo had on in one of her videos - that I didn't mind so much.
I had a khaki top which I then saw on Little Mo on Eastenders so promptly ebayed it... It was brought by a current radio 2 newsreader!
Bathing suit. Later spotted on Joan Collins. Who looked better in it than me. Fucking hell.
I have a t-shirt with a silhouette of a girl with red shoes on it. Saw it on a children's TV presenter.
Children's TV presenters are not known for their restrained, sophisticated style!
Lol at the humble bragging on here
Ooh this has only once happened to me. I have a green stripey jumper from gap that I saw a photo of Kate Moss wearing. This was around 10 years ago now and I still have the jumper. Don't suppose she does...
I still have a black dress which one of the X Factor contestants wore on the opening credits for the show a good few years back. It wasn't particularly glamarous and I still wear it to the office.
I went to the cinema to see one of the Harry Potter films. Hermione was wearing the exact same Howies jumper that I was sitting the wearing. Ron was wearing the same top that one of our friends sitting with us was wearing!!!
I have also seen a girl wearing not one but two of my coats on Hollyoaks.
I have the same necklace as Fiona Bruce! It is a star shaped pendant with diamonds.
I have good & bad.... I shall leave it up to you to decide which is which
Tulisa wearing the Vivienne Westwood "Friday Dress".
Helena Christiansen wearing Matthew Williamson for H&M parrot dress.
Both of which reside in my wardrobe.
I wear tunic dresses quite a lot and have seen Sarah Millican wearing the same ones. I always think "do I look like that in mine?" in all honesty I probably do
Oh god ruby, not Tess Daly
. I used to think that only an affair with the head of wardrobe's husband would explain her clothes. Did you burn it?
Back in the early eighties, I bought a lovely fringed, expensive, Flapper-style dress that I save hard for. To my absolute delight, the girls from The Human League wore the same dress on TOTP a couple of weeks later. One wore my black version, the other the white one. I bloody loved the Human league from then on...
I love that Issa dress, it is just the sort of thing that I like. Couldn't ever wear it now of course. <sigh>
I know Trills it is even more beautiful in the flesh. Perhaps get a very, very different colour?
im entertained people buy " going away " dresses these days
I had a lovely coat from warehouse years ago and saw that blonde woman from footballers wives wearing it... the nasty one... she has been in a few things since then, name escapes me!
Not read whole thread, but I used to have a Boden habit until I saw half my wardrobe featuring in the first series of Miranda.
Love her, but my style icon she ain't.
Help the Aged had a field day
was it Zoe Lucker? playing Tanya Turner?
thats her cjbk1! Thankyou
ladyisabella - yes Tess <<hangs head in shame>>
I returned mine for a refund

Sarah Millican has my M&S dress and wore it in her first tv series, although she also wore trousers underneath it
Oh my god, so we can call Peter Andre a greasy emotional abuser, but I can't be honest about other celebs?!
I had a French Connection Jersey dress that pippa middleton was papped wearing. I am no fan and so I then hocked it on ebay for a ridiculous amount.
Saw a young presenter on Milkshake wearing an Oasis t-shirt I own a few weeks back. Which made me think maybe I'm dressing too young for my age
But then, last week, Abi from Eastenders was wearing the same Florence & Fred jumper as me. Not so sure on that one whether I'm dressing like mutton, or Eastenders are making Abi look like an old frump!
I got a silver and black skirt from topshop, wore it to the work xmas party then a couple of weeks later spotted it on Viv from emmerdale! It was never worn again!!
Caroline bloody Quentin wore my coat in her shit documentary about Cornwall.
I saw a Boden cropped cardi of mine on Phoebe from 'Friends.' Was a swirly Paisley design and I loved it - put weight on so it's consigned to the loft now, waiting for me to shrink has been for four years.
I also once saw a Jigsaw jacket on What Not To Wear - it was one of the newly-bought things, I hasten to add
.
Eastenders characters keeping wearing things I have. Sharon had my jacket on the other day and twice Bianca has worn things I have. That's pretty bad.
monkeysmama Not that silver puffa jacket? (Keeps fingers closed thats a 'no')
Maureen
I had a 'going away' outfit nearly 30 years ago!
DD bought a bright orange jacket in the sale a couple of weeks ago. She then spotted Claire Balding wearing it on her new Saturday night programme.
I bought a wollen coat in NYC and a while later Bree was wearing it on Desperate Housewives. A colleague watched the show and spotted it. I was known as Bree for a few weeks after that. Beautiful coat, shame i don't fit into it now.
GoBack! No. Sharon was wearing a black leather fronted Zara jacket I also have.
I bought a purple wool coat with detachable black fur collar about 15yrs ago in Next, loved it until I saw Dot Cotton wearing it in the Queen Vic...
Oh no, I think I've just spotted Kerry Katona in the very bottom picture, in the cheap New Look leather jacket that I have.
So my celeb a-likes are now Chantelle and Kerry Katona. I think I need to rethink my style!
K Middy went through a phase of copying me. Reiss Shola. LKB Sledge and a couple of Whistles dresses. Fortunately I was able to offload to eBay for pretty much what I paid for them.
I bought a dress in Great Plains sale recently, it was awful, tried to palm it off on my mum who very sensibly refused it. We then watched Miranda together and she was wearing it. The dress went straight back. Utter mortification!
I bought a gorgeous wisteria print blazer from Whistles, and then Mary Berry wore it in the final of the Great British Bake Off
