Northernlebkuchen Thu 03-Jan-13 13:28:19

I got my (final- honest) parcel today and thought it would be fun to summarise (I lead a very uneventful life!)

Navy Padded coat for dd3 - BRILLIANT. Looks lovely one and so soft and warm

Raindy Day mac for me - I got the charcoal patterned one and it's beautiful. Feels great and am in love with the pattern which is less aggressive in the flesh than on screen. For £35 - bargain

Cord Placket dress in petrol - love, love, love this - beautifully lined and flattering

Emma tunic dress - I now have three blush

Casual jersey dress - it's cheap for a reason. Nice and warm but so dull, so, so dull

Drapey jersey top - also yawn

Lottie tunic - the trim at the top came too low down on my fairly short self so cut bust in two - not a good look.

Anybody else?

pocketandsweet Thu 03-Jan-13 13:56:01

Hit: bird print Welles for dd. £7 and adorable.
Miss: Shoreditch cardi. Soviet- era Russia could not have produced a less flattering garment. I don't even have that big norks but I looked in the mirror and all I could see were these massive matronly breasts. <shudder>

Oh dear. It looks ok in the pictures. Must be to do with the tie waist thing do you think?

pocketandsweet Thu 03-Jan-13 14:30:46

Yes. I thought maybe a regular belt would improve it ( and it did marginally) but really have something that makes you feel less than fabulous. The fabric felt lovely. It might work well on someone less curvy. Otherwise I am afraid it only reminded me that I am descended from generations of sturdy Slavic women.

pocketandsweet Thu 03-Jan-13 14:31:27

Why have something it should say ....

pocketandsweet Thu 03-Jan-13 14:39:13

northernlebkuchen tell me about your Emma dress and the cord placket dress. Are you perchance size 14 and curvy ? ( I don't mean that in an improper way... I'm just sick to death of returns and would like to find something nice second time around). Also are they dress length or more like something you need leggings with? ( I'm 5''5").

I'm awaiting my (only!) parcel from Boden, i got the Emma dress in Grey and hoping the length is going to be OK, i'm 1"76 and got a regular as I dont want it on the knees, i also got some bits for DD2 and the guernsey tee which may be slightly boring but i'm hoping will go well with some jeans i already have for spring..

We shall have to wait and see!

pocketandsweet Thu 03-Jan-13 14:46:23

1"76 !!!!

QuiteOldGal Thu 03-Jan-13 15:08:02

Got my 1st parcel of the sale today. I'd been hanging on for further reductions, I couldn't wait for free postage though as there were bargains to be had.

Rainy day mac for £35 in the green flowered pattern. Nice long sleeves and more fitted than a previous rainy day mac, very pleased with it. I was also tempted by the charcoal one especially now Northern has said how it is much better in the flesh than on screen.

2 crinkle shirts in navy and red flower patterns, was only going to keep one but keeping both.

Crinkle cotton top in Bayleaf, I wear a lot of these crinkly tops as I hate ironing.

Boho printed top for £17.70, wasn't sure about this but looks OK on. It has these ties at the neckline though which I wasn't sure what to do with but the model in the picture has got them just hanging there so I shall do that, as they did look a bit strange tied in a

Merino cardigan in tumeric, lovely colour but cardigan looked very baggy on me especially under arms and at v neck, also sleeves were a bit short.

So quite a successful shop and only one return. Really hoping the free postage comes on soon so I can order the odd bit more of the sale stuff.

<sits on hands>

I saw somebody wearing the green one in town yesterday - looked lovely. It's such a good buy at the current price.

Ok - I am a size 22 with H cup bust and the cord dress fitted so yes I would say definately ok for a curvy person! I am also short - 5 ft 3. The cord dress was about on the knee I think. It's a lovely pattern and material - really feels good quality and is warm. I will probably wear leggings as find them comfortable and practical but tights would be ok.
The Emma is longer. Definately a dress on me not a tunic but then 22 only comes in a L and I am a shortarse! grin It's also good for curves with the folded bit at the top - which is high enough not to need stitched together or a cami. When you take it out of the packet let it hang for a bit then be quite firm pulling the jersey to fit over your bust otherwise you do seem to get extra material as mentioned in some of the reviews. Once you've got it right once it's fine afterwards. I wash mine and hang it up straight away and it needs very little ironing.

dexter73 Thu 03-Jan-13 15:21:39

I ordered the Emma dress and sent it back. I think you need to have a largish chest to fill out the draping. It just looked a bit odd on my bust, too much fabric.
Skye jumper was lovely.

Gah, I cannot really describe my chest as large.. I'm a 36C.. i really wanted the Emma dress to wear for work, in my mind it's already wrong!

I would have said C cup would be enough bust grin

We'll have to wait and see grin i hope i'm proved wrong!

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Thu 03-Jan-13 16:28:25

I have ordered the green rainy day mac today, too much of a bargain not too!

dexter73 Thu 03-Jan-13 16:29:49

I'm a D and that wasn't enough to fill it out!

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Thu 03-Jan-13 16:30:31

I am a 34F, i may order the Emma dress smile

alemci Thu 03-Jan-13 16:34:45

i ordered a summer dress in blue with a black print. then i looked again with the 70% reduction and ordered a laptop bag for ED and a laptop sleeve for YD. also a henley top in bayleaf, don't know what colour would be like.

ordered some dresses but didn't like them and sent alot of stuff back including the Pimlico dresses which just didn't suit me.

CaptainNancy Thu 03-Jan-13 16:54:52

I like the look of the emma.
Northern_ how bold is the print on the cord dress? I am norky but quite small and it looks like it would be too much for me (I tend to not wear patterns really)
Have you a print emma, or just plain?

dottyaboutstripes Thu 03-Jan-13 17:02:08

Am awaiting 3 merino cardis. Now thinking maybe they will go straight back .....

mirpuppet Thu 03-Jan-13 17:09:33

agree with northern lurker -- I'm a D cup and not enough boobs to fill up Emma so both the red and the grey went back.

I made my first sale order today (had purchased Emma and other goods when they had the earlier 50% off glitch). Expect most of it will go back.

Got a rainy day mac just to see what fuss is about; a couple of jackets & some tops.

Spookey80 Thu 03-Jan-13 17:13:18

Dexter or anyone, can you tell me does the Skye jumper come up if or small?they only have a size 6 or 10 left andi am usually an 8?

snailsontour Thu 03-Jan-13 17:25:44

I now want the rainy day mac - but which colour???
Northern, you've seen both - which is the nicest?
Also, I have the shoreditch wrap, and the key for me was to size down, and then it looks good - I loved the fabric, and I'm a 32DD.
I've a big order on its way, so will report back when it arrives!

dexter73 Thu 03-Jan-13 17:40:53

Spookey80 - The skye jumper comes up quite large so go for a 6.

Prints for rainy day mac - errrrrr I don't know. Both are nicer in the flesh. I think if you're blonde the green one might look better.

The Emma - I have charcoal, red and the green and purple pattern [blush

Captain - the petrol placket is quite a dark background with the fawn sort of flowers on. I've measured them and they're 6 cm across each. I don't think it's particularly bold because the two background colours blend nicely. I love a good pattern though grin Have (at the age of 35) realised that pattern or not I'm never going to look thin so I might as well have the stuff I like.

hattymattie Thu 03-Jan-13 18:11:45

Got moleskin jacket in black- I'm delighted as it fits perfectly - normally jackets are too tight across the back or if I size up too big on the bust. I am soooo happy.

Got Maya dress in blue for DD1 17 - she looks gorgeous in this - but I knew she would. envy.

I'm waiting for a packet with assorted trousers - between three women in the family they ought to fit somebody.

Thinking more about mac patterns - there is still a lot of contrast between the red and charcoal on that mac whereas I thought the green flowers on the green mac blended in more than it looks like they do. So depends on whether you want slightly more subtle or oomph I guess.

snailsontour Thu 03-Jan-13 18:56:05

Thanks Northern, I'm not blonde, real or otherwise! Tempted to order the two and see which looks best - but worried I may be tempted to keep both!

Dancergirl Thu 03-Jan-13 19:36:45

Hmm, I'm thinking about the cosy casual jacket in denim, anyone got this?

HelenofSparta Thu 03-Jan-13 20:00:42

Just ordered the olive rainy day mac, had forgotten about it (seven months preggers at mo), but have the spring version so ordered same size.....fingers crossed as I cannot test it until April. Thanks for heads up!

starfleet Thu 03-Jan-13 20:05:00

I ordered the Poppy dress. Does anyone have it? How does it look on?

CaptainNancy Thu 03-Jan-13 21:23:21

Thank you Northern! smile

I think I may order the emma then.

CaptainNancy Thu 03-Jan-13 21:39:31

arses- none left in my size sad too late.

Oh snails get both and pick! I can't be responsible for the choice grin I hope at least some of you like it and the Emma dress or I'm going to feel awful!

Don't have it but the Poppy dress looks lovely - great price too.

HappyTurquoise Thu 03-Jan-13 22:02:27

cable knit dress in navy. Wish I could get a red one in my size.
moleskin blazer, black
Pretty trim dress in mulberry
stitch detail dress - was perfect for Christmas Eve and has become a favourite.

Circle applique dress. I was sent a regular in Petite packaging, and it just doesn't hang right. Don't want to take the risk of another lot of postage returning another, so it will go back. I do love the Quail Egg colour though.
Stitch detail dress in brown, ordered size too big as the one I had was feeling a bit tight, but this makes me look like I'm in a potato sack.

starfleet Thu 03-Jan-13 22:20:29

I've been lusting after it for a while but couldn't justify the £100+ price but at under £40 it is a bargain.

Other hits:-
Sarah dress in grey/green - comfortable and flattering on
Multi stitch dress in Navy Cord
Isabella Cardigan in Grey & Chestnut
Floaty Cardigan in Bayleaf
Stitch detail dress in Black cord
Velvet leopard print pumps

Not so good:-
Merino cardigan - a bit shapeless and the colour looked a lot brighter in the photo in RL it was a greeny mustard colour - I expected it to be a brighter yellow/gold
Jersey Shirt Dress - not a nice fitting - to tight on arms and shapeless elsewhere.

TheaJTS Thu 03-Jan-13 22:34:55

Was no one else tempted by the Iona boiled wool coat? I've had my eye on it in Russet for months, but not at the original price! Much more like it at 1/2 price. Hasn't arrived yet though...
Also ordered:
the Twist Front Jersey Dress in marigold (on the off chance, as only £23.70!)
Velvet Circle Skirt (black)
Stitch Detail Mini (grey)
Fingers crossed!

Back at the beginning of the sale I got the Emily skirt in the red colourway (love it), the Flippy Cord Skirt in blue (also really flattering) and the Nancy Dress in rose - amazed that this hasn't sold out at sale price (£41) - a really pretty dress!

Captain - look out for returns. There are bound to be some. There were a lot in stock up till Monday so there must be some people out there with the wrong bust sending them back grin

slalomsuki Thu 03-Jan-13 22:39:00

I ordered some stuff too but some is going back

Drapey top. I have it in three cours and looks great on me
Merino cardigan in the purpley blue colour got lots of comments
Slouchy jumper is great length

Colour block tunic. Material is weird
Sixties jumper. Neck doesn't sit right

Kept some girls skinny jeans as they fit well and have adjustable waists.

That coat is a lovely colour and fab price now. Hope you like it.

slalom - aside from the material do the colour blocks not look weird too? Struck me they might........

Oh and Thea report back on the stitch detail mini - specifically how mini it is!

TheaJTS Thu 03-Jan-13 23:26:59

NorthernLurker - will do! I ordered the 'L' and I have fairly short legs, so hoping it will be just above knee. I don't do 'mini' generally!

TheaJTS Thu 03-Jan-13 23:37:06

Almost forgot - I also ordered the Richmond Wrap Dress, which was a really lovely, flattering style on me (pear shape), but I just couldn't quite love the prints, and not sure about the bright red either. So sadly it went back. Great shape though.
And if you happen to be a size 6 (only size left) I recommend the Artisan Top / Tunic. I have it in lavender and pewter and love it! Flattering, comfy and great length.

polyhymnia Thu 03-Jan-13 23:40:59

I would have liked the Emma in camouflage colourway but I'm 5'9'' and it was simply too long in the body for it to sit right on me.

Was going for Lottie tunic but was put off by northern Lurker's feedback.

CaptainNancy Fri 04-Jan-13 00:54:18

Actually northern- I was so excited, as it's quite unusual for me to have the right bust for anything! grin

slalomsuki Fri 04-Jan-13 07:56:41

Northern the colours on the tunic were odd and didn't sit like the picture. I guess if you were tall and straight up and down then it would look great but if you are at all curvy then the blocks would be odd. I went for the grey colour combination which is grey, rust red and a green colour.

mynameis Fri 04-Jan-13 08:48:28

S&B lurker here, just popping in to say thanks to this thread I've just made my first ever Boden purchase of the Emma dress

Hoping the 38F norks will fill it sufficiently wink

Back2Two Fri 04-Jan-13 08:56:37

I'm awaiting my rainy day mac in olive. Wanted plain because I think Boden patterns just look too ......"Boden-y" smile but had to settle for olive. Bought two sizes so should find good fitting too.

Also got a gilet (olive too) ....bit boring and quite Boden-y but they're so useful and this was only £30 ish. No furry hood either.

Then got little boxer shorts for ds1 (I like getting nice ones, boys have such limited nice stuff!) and shirts for dh (3 and all white due to stock)

Looking forward to getting it all now.

Back2Two Fri 04-Jan-13 09:00:23

<<peers back in depsite all the enormous norks suddenly crowding around envy >>

With the Boden "announce" that they have returns going back on sale or do they just dribble them back in grin

QuiteOldGal Fri 04-Jan-13 09:23:19

They dribble back in. If theres something you want you just have to keep looking for it, and then buy it straight away. Its a bit of a pain at the moment though because of having to pay postage each time, which adds £4 to order

I would think there will be a fair few returns in the next week as a lot as been sold since the further reductions. <hopes>

brighthair Fri 04-Jan-13 09:30:07

First ever Boden purchase grin
Ordered the Emma dress and the casual belted dress
Am prepared they won't fit... Are their sizes true or generous?

ChablisLover Fri 04-Jan-13 09:41:31

is the rainy day mac that good?

I've often looked at it but never really considered it as it was always too expensive

are the patterns gaudy?

I'm looking at the olive one as I'm fair haired and skinned

TheaJTS Fri 04-Jan-13 09:49:37

Nope, no announcement, they just reappear in the product availability 'matrix thing'.
If you're really keen keep the product page open and refresh regularly. Popular items only stay back in stock very briefly!

QuiteOldGal Fri 04-Jan-13 09:49:48

At full price or even with 20% off I would not say that the Rainy day macs are really worth it. I wouldn't have normally looked at the olive flowered one but at £35 it is very good value and I do like the pattern now I've got it. I think it will be nice for early spring if its a bit damp and chilly. In fact I've got mine on now to pop to the shops.

Hope I don't bump into loads of other mumsnetters all wearing the same mac smile

ChablisLover Fri 04-Jan-13 09:56:29

have ordered it

(as well as the seam detail skinny cargos!)

Sure if I dont like it, I can return it

DH will hate the pattern! He'll say its mumsy! Pity the fawn was never as well reduced.

The pattern definately isn't mumsy. I think it's really good value for £35. I wouldn't pay full price.

Captain - keep looking for dribbling returns grin

Slalom - that's what I thought would happen with the colour blocks!

Brighthair - for children I always size up but for adults I think the sizing is pretty good. If you read the reviews for an individual item you can quickly see what's going on though - people will say size up or down which is helpful.

polyhymnia Fri 04-Jan-13 11:37:00

northern, slalom, I tried colour block tunic before sale and agree material weird - cheap and very creased-looking - and blocks didn't work, on my large, tall hourglass figure anyway! A dud, IMO.

Poly - feel very guilty that you didn't try the Lottie because of me blush

Having said that Miranda Hart was wearing the navy with spots one in the first episode of her new series and I didn't think it looked outstanding on her either and she's about a foot taller than me!

polyhymnia Fri 04-Jan-13 11:41:53

Don't worry - it's still there in my size and I might yet try it. Have been just hanging on to see if it's going to be further reduced.

Am I right that your main dislike with the berry, which was the colour I fancied, was that the ribbon trim came too low? If so, suppose that might not be so true on me as I'm tall and long-bodied.

polyhymnia Fri 04-Jan-13 11:44:11

PS I too saw a clip (can't stand her actual show) of Miranda H. in that tunic in blue, and I actually thought it looked better than expected. I'm about 2-3 inches shorter than her. Perhaps my expectations of the tunic were low, though!!

Yes that's right - was on the bust not above it.

polyhymnia Fri 04-Jan-13 11:51:41

Thanks. Was the trim itself nice, or nothing special?

It was pretty but it looked very easy to pull the ribbons out of shape. Did I mention it's dry clean only?

polyhymnia Fri 04-Jan-13 12:14:07

Yes. I'm prepared to put up with that for really special items, but not things for everyday wear.

snailsontour Fri 04-Jan-13 12:28:01

Boden don't 'announce' they have returned items back in stock, you need to keep checking and pounce when you see something you've been stalking.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Fri 04-Jan-13 15:45:49

I have been stalking the chunky leather boots in the conker. They have just come back in stock in a 5 and I pounced!

Hope they are as lovely as they look!

Have the lottie tunic in navy and it washed fine on the machine handwash cycle.
Want another tunic but the placket cord one is out of stock in my size so am waiting to see if the lottie in one of the other colours gets reduced further.
May try an Emma after the comments on here about it suiting boobage.

FIFIBEBE Fri 04-Jan-13 16:49:12

If you want an Emma be quick. Stock is changing dramatically as I read this thread. Managed to get a charcoal one, phew.

Yes FIFI, had the blue print Emma in my basket then it went out of stock within about a minute!
Never mind, got the blue crossover knit dress instead and the placket cord tunic which had come back into stock.

The navy lottie is handwash ok. It's the other two that are dry clean. Because of the trim rather than the wool I suspect.

cloutiedumpling Fri 04-Jan-13 19:12:02

I've been looking at the rainy day mac thanks to this thread. Does it come up big or pretty much true to size? I am proably a 16 at the moment but am hoping to lose weight to get back into a 14. The 16 is out of stock and I wonder if the 14 will fit me.

QuiteOldGal Fri 04-Jan-13 19:44:46

Cloutiedumpling I would say it was pretty much true to size, the sleeves are on the long side. I am a fairly tall size 14 and size 14 fitted me perfectly, Probably similar to a M&S or Next 14.

mynameis Fri 04-Jan-13 19:45:45

Bit concerned I haven't had confirmation email sad

stickygingerbread Fri 04-Jan-13 20:35:24

winter warmer gilet in black
archive print top in black (suits short waist)
wrap jersey top purple
richmond wrap dress charcoal print (ditto short waist)
several items for ds age 5.10 - track pants, rib waist cargoes, cord baggies - all big hits. He also is happy with the pop t-shirts 'zoom' and 'bang' now that he can read the words himself.

ruffle cardigan in red - colour was meh on me
emma tunic looked strange at the waist
ribbed knitted tee too long in the body for me

Almondroca Fri 04-Jan-13 21:05:38

Lurker here...thanks for all your tips!

Is there a code for free delivery at the moment, or don't codes work for sale stuff?

Thank you!

stickygingerbread Fri 04-Jan-13 21:26:59

No codes for the sale, unfortunately Almondroca.

Has anyone received the floaty cardigan?

starfleet Fri 04-Jan-13 21:32:09

Sticky - I have the floaty cardigan in Bayleaf - it looks lovely on. Close fitting on the arms and loose and drapey on the body. I did read reviews where people had complained about too much fabric but it is flattering and comfortable.

stickygingerbread Fri 04-Jan-13 21:54:45

thanks starfleet you have tipped me off the fence & I've placed an order for it, and tossed in the stitch detail dress as well. I had not noticed the dress until reading this thread - bet it will look great with boots. It must be destiny because both items came back into stock while I was looking at them....

MrsSchadenfreude Fri 04-Jan-13 21:54:56

I have ordered the Emma tunic since you have confirmed that it will fit someone with large norks and a bit of a gut. grin Also ordered the twist front top.

And my delivery is apparently on its way already!

MrsSchadenfreude Fri 04-Jan-13 21:57:05

I got the charcoal Emma and the khaki patterned one. Is this going to be the Mumsnet dress? grin

I have those two and the red one........

starfleet Fri 04-Jan-13 23:17:15

Sticky - I have the Stitch Dress in Navy Cord with 3/4 sleeves and the Black short sleeved one. They look great on and yes do look good with a pair of boots (especially the minky coloured Clarks Majorca Villa which someone mentioned on S&B a week or so ago grin)

notjustamummythankyou Sat 05-Jan-13 08:11:47

I ordered the Alexandra dress in petrol/sage. Love it, but the 14 was a bit too big. Saw a 12 come up, so have snaffled that - really hope it fits!

notjustamummythankyou Sat 05-Jan-13 08:13:06

*alexa, not Alexandra! Darn autocomplete ...

cloutiedumpling Sat 05-Jan-13 11:02:01

Thanks for the help with the mac. I'm going to buy it. Does anyone have the tweed jacket? I'd love one but often buy a petite size in tailored clothes due to being short waisted despite being 5'4. I've never bought anything from their petite range before. Does anyone know if it comes up small or big? Petite ranges vary hugely. I buy from the petite range at next because it is quite big but not at petite precis because it is too small for me. I suspect the difference is that one is designed for women who are about 5'3 and the other about 5'.

Cloutie - if you ring customer services I suspect they'd be able to tell you that. They are quite good on product information

BTW as of now there is low stock in of quite a lot of sizes of Charcoal emma and a few of red emma (which is a lovely colour)

Dancergirl Sat 05-Jan-13 12:40:55

Does anyone have the red? Is it v bright? I'm tempted!

I do - no it's not bright. It's strong and deep and certainly noticeable but not garish. Gorgeous colour imo.

brighthair Sat 05-Jan-13 14:48:23

Just swiped the Emma in 18L grin as I'm not sure on sizing having never ordered before. So now I've got that on its way in a 16L and 18L and the casual belted in a 16L (no 18 in that)
Hopefully one will fit!!

mirpuppet Sat 05-Jan-13 16:51:50

Roma Jacket -- nice shruken jacket looks good over dresses & with jeans; I got the red (the grey didn't suit me)

Twist Jersey Top-- I got in petites although I'm 5'4. Really nice short sleeved tops (perhaps from spring 2012 range?) I like pink; blue a good colour. Very pleased.

Moleskin Blazer-- bit too heavy and masculine for me

Maybes (I know I'm being influenced by the price)

Rainy Day Mac in Olive -- good quality; but how often would I wear -- for example if I went away for the weekend would I be happy for it to be my only coat?

Pretty Georgette Top -- nice colours on me but I don't wear blouses so not sure I should start with this one.

rubytutu Sat 05-Jan-13 21:08:18

MISSES: Roma jacket in navy, much too short even for me. Moleskin blazer- may have worked in smaller size but none left now.

Ordered the Emma in grey but it did not come, had better arrive after ordering after reading this thread as need something to cover my rapidly expanding middle! will keep an eye out for red if it works for me.

AGiddyKipperInOneHand Sat 05-Jan-13 22:32:04

Got a deep sea blazer and a matching coloured dress (appliqué circles, or stripes I think) which I love.

Returned a more formal dress which didn't suit me and a skirt. Phoned up about returning a dress which has been damaged and was surprised to find that I could do that, and the naice lady let me swap it for the one they had just had back as a return. it's such a relief as that dress cost me what I earn in about a week! The new one arrived here the very next day, with a prepaid returns sticker. I'm so impressed with this company, and so glad I've found some of their clothes which fit me. I can see why they're so popular.

Waswondering Sat 05-Jan-13 22:36:40

Have the Sarah dress. Think it's a hit but not sure ... Will try it on again tomorrow. I don't think the excess of Christmas food has helped ... blush

Dancergirl Sun 06-Jan-13 00:13:45

Is the Emma a smart going out tunic or more every day? Seemed to have missed my size now but going to keep an eye out!

I wear it for work and family stuff. Wouldn't wear it for just going to the supermarket grin though I don't feel over-dressed in the supermarket if that should occur iyswim grin

rubytutu Mon 07-Jan-13 10:33:06

just looked into where my Emma tunic is and they have cancelled the order as not in stock, not v happy but then they checked their system which said now in stock again so have reordered plus added a few other items in too. Their customer serv is indeed rather fab as now have free postage for all new items. Most of which are returns which have come bag into stock- zig zag tunic, cord dress, cord blazer cardigans etc

alemci Mon 07-Jan-13 10:49:48

My dd's loved their laptop cases.

My ED went off with the 'trains' carrying bag to university on Sunday - bargain at £18. YD had a protective case in a pink at £10 - again delighted.

haven't tried the £12.50 Henley but looks ok.

Dancergirl Mon 07-Jan-13 13:24:07

Right, Emma tunic in red back in in 12r so I've snapped one up! I'm 5'3" and size 34DD, do you think it will work on me?

Dancergirl Mon 07-Jan-13 13:25:20

Other hits:

Boyfriend cardi in grey - fab
Mini Boden girls warm anorak navy stripe - a great buy

dottyaboutstripes Mon 07-Jan-13 14:20:09

After reading that someone else sent back their merino cardigan, 3 arrived for me and they were fine. Don't love them but they were pretty close to what I wanted and for 20 quid each, I'm happy!

Just bgt. moleskin blazer , am hoping it's not too butch for me.

notjustamummythankyou Mon 07-Jan-13 15:29:37

Dancergirl - oh pants. I saw the Emma tunic in red in 12R this morning. Got involved in other things, forgot about it, read this, went back online. Gone.

That's my dress, that is!

GeorginaWorsley Mon 07-Jan-13 15:54:37

Am sending back ponte blazer.
A bit too shrunken and unflattering over hips, shame as great for spring and £20.
I suppose that is why they are £20

Dancergirl Mon 07-Jan-13 18:43:29

Sorry, notjustamummy, if I return it I will let you know. Keep checking on the site though, they will probably still get returns.

WillPenn Mon 07-Jan-13 19:05:25

I got a tweed jacket in the sale (the fitted one) in brown melange. I'm a busty/curvy 14/16 and it is a very flattering fit. Really warm too - great buy at around £70.

rubytutu Mon 07-Jan-13 21:44:45

Georgina- agree re the blazer, would be ok if you are about 4'10 otherwise no good, sent mine back.
On the basis of this thread have ordered 2 merino cardigans earlier and went down a size.
My Emma tunic has now been sent out with the other stuff, back to waiting for spotty parcels again!

DerbyNottsLeicsNightNanny Mon 07-Jan-13 21:49:04

I've ordered 3 merino cardigans this afternoon! Not sure if the drop shoulders will make me look bulky though so we'll see!

GeorginaWorsley Mon 07-Jan-13 21:52:30

Got navy silk dress which I can no longer see on site, sort of 60's style with bead embellishment.Very simple, very classic, reduced to £38 from over £100 .
DD2 approves so will keep!
Not sure about como cardigan in caramel though.

Emma is back in low stock in red and grey in 12 R atm.

Dancergirl Mon 07-Jan-13 23:39:19

QUICK notjustamummy!!

notjustamummythankyou Tue 08-Jan-13 08:27:24

Thanks for tip-off. Done! grin

slalomsuki Tue 08-Jan-13 08:39:56

I am going to send back an Emma tunic/ dress in red in an 18r if you want to keep an eye out for it.

Well as promised I got the Emma in grey, am wearing at this moment actually!
For me it's very much more a dress than a tunic though, am very glad i didn't get a L as it would have felt frumpier i think.
And yes bigger norks would look great but i have my secret weapen M&S gain 2 sizes bra and it looks good (enough)!
Am wearing with fitted levis denim jacket, thick tights and biker boots.

The stripy breton am still not sure about, good fit but it's the funny arms...

Mini boden cord trousers in flowery design come up big but lovely and go great with the broccoli top! DD2 loved it.

So all in all, pretty pleased with my haul! grin

I am wearing the grey Emma too grin As I'm a 22 you only get the L length which on 5ft 3 me is on the knee and a dress not a tunic. Somebody was asking about length I think?

brighthair Tue 08-Jan-13 12:23:47

Part of my order has arrived, it's the Emma which fits so it looks like I may be sending back the other size Emma when it gets here!

TheaJTS Tue 08-Jan-13 12:52:36

OK, my sale order is FINALLY here and I've had a chance to try everything on!
Big surprise is the Twist Front Jersey Dress. Have to admit to only ordering this because it was so cheap reduced to £23 (from £79). But it looks lovely on, and is definitely a keeper. (I got the purple 'fig marigold' version).

The Iona boiled wool coat: I really, really wanted to love this, but 'tis not to be. Looks kind of OK belted, but otherwise pretty awful. Material is quite thin, doesn't hang nicely, not suree about the raw edges... So disappointing!

The Velvet Circle Skirt: Ordered this in black thinking it would be a good winter party staple. But doesn't look slim and stylish on me (like it does on the model). Lots and lots of thick bulky fabric, and a very boxy shape, at least on me. Definite return.

The Stitch Detail Mini: This is a lovely skirt, nice fabric, well made... but shape just doesn't do anything for me. Again there seems to be too much fabric. Pity because it's a nice well-made skirt.
Northern Lurker: if you're still tempted, it really isn't a 'mini' mini. I ordered the 'L' and it just grazes my knees. Admittedly I have quite short legs, but it certainly isn't a thigh skimmer!

MooseyMoo Tue 08-Jan-13 13:48:33

In case anyone is looking for a free delivery and returns code Q235 just worked when I bought x1 sales item

polyhymnia Tue 08-Jan-13 15:13:18

The twist front jersey dresss is great . I have the grey one and have worn it loads over winter.

RudolphiaRedNose Tue 08-Jan-13 15:20:33

Ooh I can post on this now.

Everyday A-line skirt in black moleskin - went back, just too boring, even for me. I thought it might have a funky feel but it was just meh meh meh.

Glamour tweed skirt - amazing fabric, sadly shape not right, made my legs look fat. So what I need is a nice A-line skirt in the glamour tweed fabric. I am hoping to get an extra-large size if it turns up in clearance, and alter it.

Straight jeans - too tight around my knees, sent back and got some from gap which are a better fit.

On the plus side - I got two chunky cardigans, the dark grey and the orange, and they are fab and keeping both. Lovely and soft, really long sleeves, warm, neat shape.

prelim29 Tue 08-Jan-13 19:20:46

I have just ordered the Emma too, in grey, had had my eye on it for a while. the code mooseymoo gave worked too

mixedpeel Tue 08-Jan-13 19:24:50

Question for you: I would like to buy a top for a friend of mine for her birthday. She is apple shaped, big boobs and quite a tum at the moment, but I'd love to get her something really flattering.

She never spends any money on herself, and my aim is to get her something she could put on and feel good, but not really going out stuff as such, more smart everyday-ish.

Anything in the sale you could recommend?

Do you know what size she is? If you know that you can sort available stuff by size and save yourself a lot of hunting.

The wrap top is nice.

Or this twist top. I have big boobs and find either style enhances grin

Mrsap Tue 08-Jan-13 19:35:01

Cripes. Talk about sheep. I have just ordered the Emma. Will post if I send it back tho.

mixedpeel Tue 08-Jan-13 19:42:09

Thanks northern, I like both those. Exactly the kind of thing I had in mind, the sort of thing you can pull on but make you feel great. I would guess she is a 16/18. Sorry to pester you, but would you think that as they are stretchy styles, the 16 would be ok?

Having read the rave reviews of the Emma dress from those of you with boobage, I'm wondering whether to risk getting that for her. It's available in the charcoal in a 16L, which I'd be tempted to go for, to make it more of a dress than a tunic. Though to be fair she's got pretty good legs envy

If going for the drapey I would go 16, with the wrap I might be inclined to go 18 so it isn't tight on the hips. Sure try the Emma. Everyone else has grin It's really comfortable.

cakeymakey Tue 08-Jan-13 22:34:20

After substantial weight loss last year, and a shrinking wardrobe to match, I felt inspired for one last dip in the boden bran tub after this thread. Shouldn't have bothered really - just another REALLY big parcel to pay for return postage on...

Tried the Rainy Day Mac in green, but looked like I was hiding in the undergrowth.

The placket cord dress with the print was a lovely shape, but felt the pattern just screamed don't do it. So I didn't.

The Guernsey Tee I felt was a safe bet - I mean, what could go wrong. But it was so boxy and huge it made my norks look enormous. I just wish for a nice breton with a bit of shape and maybe even elastane to cling to the right bits...

Ordered the Johnnie B suede ballet flats, which were lovely and soft, apart from a hideous hard (maybe plastic?) toe. They hurt and went back.

Success with the Cable knitted dress (not much discount though). I liked this earlier in the season, and decided to go for it in petite, (I'm 5.3) Tis lovely and very soft - I hope it doesn't shrink though.

And another vote for the Emma dress purchased earlier in the season at non-sale price sad, I wear the one in charcoal all the time, its good for the largish of nork and slightly hourglass girl....

notjustamummythankyou Tue 08-Jan-13 22:40:21

"Tried the Rainy Day Mac in green, but looked like I was hiding in the undergrowth."

grin grin grin

brighthair Tue 08-Jan-13 22:46:53

Is it bad that I'm keeping the Emma in both sizes? grin
The 18 is slightly too draped across stomach but flattering on fat day. The 16 fits perfectly everywhere. But tbh there's not much difference, and given I really like it I might as well keep them.. blush

SerendipityAlways Wed 09-Jan-13 09:10:56

The Maya dress was a real winner, So good I got it in the blue and the black!

grin at Brighthair - not unreasonable at all!

I can't believe what Boden have done with my returns from my last order. I returned two items totalling £34. The order came in a box - because the rainy day mac is quite bulky. For sending it back I used a bag I'd managed not to rip to shreds grin because the box would have been way too big. I didn't remember what order it was from but I now think it must be from November when I ordered the drapey jersey dress for £59. I put a returns label on, wrote the order number on that and included the returns sheet in the parcel. I know I did that because a) it isn't lying about anywhere and b) I am very OCD about checking and double checking that kind of thing. Sent it off on Friday and yesterday I got an e-mail saying we've processed your return. Casually clicked on it to check and registered it said you've returned your drapey jersy dress. Which is hanging in the wardrobe upstairs!! So I rang up and was on hold for ages and upshot was they've made a note in my account to say the dress has been refunded so don't refund her again if she DOES actually return it and also not to refund the two items I've sent back because I've had that money but the advisor said she had spoken to her supervisor and they would just leave the fact that they've refunded me £25 too much! grin Mind you they have made plenty out of me in the past.......grin the only thing I can think is that the bag had some sort of bar code on it and that's got scanned not the items IN the bag but it's all rather odd. Fortunately odd in my favour - like Boden Monopoly - Returns error in your favour, collect £25 and remember it's gone back on your credit card and you can't just spend it on tops

Dancergirl Thu 10-Jan-13 00:29:16

Their customer service is good I must admit. I've had a returns parcel go missing in the past. I had a proof of postage but they didn't even ask to see it, they just asked me what I'd returned and they refunded me. I was v honest but I might not have been and said I'd returned hundreds of pounds worth!

Clary Thu 10-Jan-13 00:43:12

Aaah I got the rainy day mac too, it's a replacement for one I have had for at least 4 years and worn until it is threadbare.

I hummed at £72, bought it at £48 then saw it for £35 so bought it again and sent the first one back! (unworn).

I love it actually, am surprised that it was still there in all the sizes as usually that means a truly duff pattern but I really like it.

Just hope that I don't see someone else everywhere wearing it - that happened with my old one (at first anyway - I have seen her off now! hah!)

Which pattern did you get?

I'm embarassingly passionate about mine........

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Thu 10-Jan-13 06:51:05

I got the green rainy day mac as well. I wasn't sure if it was a keep due to the pattern but actually I really like it.

And I figured at that price if I don't wear it I can sell it on eBay and make my money back!

mirpuppet Thu 10-Jan-13 16:37:21

Emma doesn't suit me but i see the price for the charcoal still seems to be falling

Emma Tunic Dress (Charcoal Marl)

RedwingWinter Thu 10-Jan-13 16:50:40

I ordered the Emma in charcoal earlier today. I fancied the red too but at the time they only had it in 12R not L. Also ordered that floaty cardi in black. Thanks for the recommendations smile

cardoon Thu 10-Jan-13 16:53:40

Just got my emma tunic in charcoal and the fabric is much more lightweight than the red one - not sure if I like it as much.........hmm

MrsSchadenfreude Thu 10-Jan-13 18:08:45

Northernlurker, I cannot tell you how pleased I am with the Emma dress - I have just ordered the red as well blush. It is the most flattering dress ever - perfect cut for the ample of nork and rotund of belly. grin And it is most certainly not a tunic - I am 5'8" and it comes to my knees.

Not so impressed with the twist front tops though - they will probably be going back, although I will try them with a better bra first. I felt that they overemphasised the bosom, to the extent that that was all you saw.

The Emma is going to be the mumsnet dress isn't it.........

brighthair Thu 10-Jan-13 19:02:02

I did wonder that when wearing the Emma with the MN scarf yesterday if I was going to be accosted...

polyhymnia Thu 10-Jan-13 19:03:47

Real shame the Emma didn't work on me - it could cope with my big bust but not with my height as well!! Glad everyone else is enjoying.

slalomsuki Thu 10-Jan-13 19:17:45

Hate to say but I did see an Emma with a mumsnet scarf yesterday. Scarf was looped in an arty way as per the YouTube link we also had on site for a while.

Didn't dare ask her name though.

grin Brilliant! I'm thinking of wearing my red emma to work tomorrow with my rainy day mac - which is SO warm

I just clicked on the Emma dress in Charcoal marl- £86! Johnnie can sod right orf, it's nice, but not that nice!

notjustamummythankyou Thu 10-Jan-13 19:53:12

Is there another emma dress maybe? It was £59 full price, and charcoal is £23.60 (was £38 ish at the beginning of the week - grr!)

cardoon Thu 10-Jan-13 19:56:40

still £23 - 38 here

How odd, I searched for 'Emma' and it came up as some at 23.60 others up to £86. I got a screen shot- as I was going to complain! grin

Can you post the screen shot grin That is weird! Definately 38 and 23 here too.

notjustamummythankyou Thu 10-Jan-13 20:25:06

Maybe someone was doing a spot of website editing, made an error and realised their mistake?!

I'll try and upload it, if I can figure out how to do it on my phone!

Right, it's on there and I can still see it at the price I screen dumped. hmm Maybe JB is trying to dissuade me from buying...

RedwingWinter Thu 10-Jan-13 21:17:04

It's saying that because you've clicked on three - that's the price for all three dresses.

prelim29 Thu 10-Jan-13 21:44:50

Glad I ordered my Emma dress earlier in the week - everything under a size 14 sold out now, prob thanks to mumsnetters

meltedcreditcard Thu 10-Jan-13 22:55:39

Boden suede brogues were in sale at £66 - was waiting for my size to appear again,

They disappeared on clearance and are now on for full price of £110 shock

Johnny what are you up to?

Clary Fri 11-Jan-13 00:38:18

LOL @ everyone buying the Emma dress!!

Northernlurker I got the same as you, charcoal with red flowers. Not worn it yet as no coat hooks at my work and don't want to dump my new coat (even if £35) on the floor (it's a school).

May wear it tmrw and secrete it in the office for safety. Will have to walk about the place in it a bit tho to get the full effect. Good thing it's gonna be cold grin

Doh- Redwing blush I am an idiot.

polyhymnia Fri 11-Jan-13 11:49:59

I don't think there is a charcoal with red flowers in the Emma. Only plain charcoal.

cardoon, you say the charcoal Emma is much lighter material than the other one you have . Any difference in the fit?

mejon Fri 11-Jan-13 11:52:12

Anyone on the lookout for a charcoal Emma in 16R - I'll be posting mine back tomorrow. Lovely dress, fabric is a great weight and the colour and it did make me look much slimmer than I think I am, but I could tell that I wouldn't wear it. A bit too clingy up top and I wasn't sure what to do with the drapey bits but it is too long as a tunic to wear with trousers as I'm not confident enough to wear it with tights as a dress. I'm hoping to get a navy Shoreditch cardigan if my size comes back into stock. I have the grey one and it is lovely.

cardoon Fri 11-Jan-13 12:31:00

Yes! It seems quite a bit bigger, more roomy......and longer hmm

NoRoomForMeInMyBed Fri 11-Jan-13 13:52:16

I completly blame all of you for my frivoulous shopping spree this morning! Emma in charcoal and rainy day cot in green undergrowth finally ordered! The Emma is fab I have worn my navy one alot and its very flattering.

There are quite a few rainy dayS left, returns seem to be reloading and going within minutes so keep looking, and pay straight away as otherwise items get removed from your basket and then theyre gone gone gone...

NoRoomForMeInMyBed Fri 11-Jan-13 14:02:59

Oh yes code Q235 gives you free postage on sale items! Shop shop shop!

rubytutu Fri 11-Jan-13 14:12:57

Blaming this thread entirely I have just done my 6th order in as many days, sadly because most of the other stuff has gone back! But have kept the Emma in grey after playing around with the drapey bit def dress length on me. merino cardigans bit hit and miss, the 8 was bigger than the 10 which had very tight sleeves. Also kept a navy cord tunic and just re ordered the navy merino cardigan in bigger size as navy ones came up quite small and not nearly as soft as the grey. must stop now! Sent back the grey Emma in 8R today if anyone stalking them for one!

HelenofSparta Fri 11-Jan-13 14:16:46

Hrumpf. Just gone on to check status of delivery (kids appliqué polo) and it has been cancelled. Has anyone else had this happen to them during sale?
It was a bargain and used above code for free delivery, but a bit annoyed as daughter excited to receive it (had a horse on). Grrrrrr!

rubytutu Fri 11-Jan-13 14:23:02

Yes I had this happen so I phoned and they had some in stock so re ordered, I don,t really understand this as surely you have some sort of stock counter and when that number is reached the item is effectively sold out? Because web shopping works in real time, right? Am assuming they just don,t load returns onto the system instantly and that is how they do this. Have never worked in retail so someone enlighten me please!
ring them Helen as a re order would be free postage too.

notjustamummythankyou Fri 11-Jan-13 15:17:41

Just received the Emma tunic dress in red. Lovely colour - darker than I imagined, but better for it! Definitely more dress length, than tunic length about 3in above the knee for me, and I'm 5'8".

A keeper, methinks! Will be fab for work.

I wore my red Emma for work today - and blessed the Rainy day mac for it's fleece as it's freezing here today!

notjustamummythankyou Fri 11-Jan-13 18:41:53

Northernlurker - I have a feeling that you may live in my area - are you in Yorkshire by any chance?? I'll look out for a red Emma and will give a knowing wink!

Yes that's the right area grin I'll not call the police when somebody starts winking at me.......

DerbyNottsLeicsNightNanny Fri 11-Jan-13 18:56:30

I think I'm the only person not to like their rainy day mac sad after wanting the dark fawn one for AGES it arrived today and I really really wanted to love it, but I dont. The sleeves would need taking up a bit if I keep it but the main thing I dont like is the colour, I was expecting a brown tone but if anything it looks quite green/kharki especially when you put it with brown boots.

Also feels a bit bulkier than I thought and just feels a bit weird on, almost like an overall! On the plus side I'm pleased the fleece lining is pink and not orange like it looks like online.

Waiting until tomorrow to look at the colour in proper daylight (was nearly dark when I got home today & parcel had arrived).

Anyone else got the dark fawn & love it??

notjustamummythankyou Fri 11-Jan-13 18:58:05

Just don't wear your mumsnet scarf with your Emma dress. That'll really give it away. grin

TheaJTS Sat 12-Jan-13 09:57:00

THANKS NoRoomForMeInMyBed for the free postage on sale goods code (Q235) - worked beautifully and much appreciated :-)
I've ordered the Slouchy Merino Jumper x2 (chestnut & sunset), Twist Front Top (cranberry) & Pretty Crew Neck Cardigan (gold melange).
Going for a bit of colour, but could all end up being returned!
Will report back when I've tried them...

MaureenShit Sat 12-Jan-13 09:58:32

ive just ordered the pink cashmere sweater thing - will prob make me look pg

QuiteOldGal Sat 12-Jan-13 11:21:26

Well, Richmond bag in tartan arrive today and is going back. Pattern is OK but it is a bit boxy and also the tartan pattern is not level and looks quite obviously so.

Boyfriend cardigan in clay is a keeper and I may get another colour, the fit on me is much better than the Merino cardigan which went back. The sleeves and length are longer and it is slimmer fitting, I'm 5ft 10 and size 12-14 I got a 14 in both, if the sleeves hadn't have been shorter in the Merino I would have maybe sized down.

Waiting on chinos in truffle, bargain at £24.50 as they are a spring/summer trouser anyway.

Just going to look for more stuff now.

dreamingofsun Sat 12-Jan-13 12:04:35

has anyone tried the lottie tunic? Am i kidding myself that at 50 i could even consider it? espec with nobbly knees (though toned legs)?

cloutiedumpling Sat 12-Jan-13 12:10:11

Thank you for the free P&P code. I bought the tweed jacket and love it. I am 5'4 and it fits me brilliantly. I think it would probably not be so good for tall ladies. I also bought the petite knot front tops which are great and the regular sized knot front top which has the fake camisole bit underneath. It is very thick cotton and good quality. The petite tops are not such thick cotton but I'm going to keep them because they look smart and fit well.

alemci Sat 12-Jan-13 12:29:15

just bought the merino cardi in navy, velvet skirt, bretton top for my dd and a bikini top for her as well. we may share the cardi as she borrows half my stuff anyway (grrr)

some very good buys on their I think

quite liked the rainy day mac in blue and mauve but then I don't think I would feel comfortable in it somehow.

Free returns and postage is great and now on the site automatically.

is this quite recent as I had to pay postage when I ordered just after new year.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sat 12-Jan-13 18:21:14

Not brought much but

Rainy Day Mac in green, is a bit bold for me, but too much of a bargain
Chunky Buckle Boots in conker.
Drapey pleated top in navy.
Velvet plimsoles - £15!!

Toasty button through, was ok but just nothing special and colour not as nice
Everyday jumper - nice but too like my bretons so went back.

polyhymnia Sat 12-Jan-13 18:32:15

dreaming I'm older than you, I've tried blue Lottie tunic and it looked pretty good. Would certainly have worn it, but returned it simply because it was not quite special enough at original price. Am actually thinking of getting again now reduced in sale.

Only thing is, as I'm tall would wear with skinny jeans, or similar - couldn't get away with it as a 'dress'. But if I was (quite a bit) shorter, would certainly wear with thick tights and booots, no problem.

polyhymnia Sat 12-Jan-13 19:01:47

dreaming just looked at the Lottie again online - to make sure there are still any left in my size.

If it had come to just an inch or two above knee as on model, I'd wear with opaques, because my lower legs are good - as yours sound as if they are - and knees don't really look knobbly in thick tights, in my experience. But, at 36'' length, it was a lot shorter than that on me (I'm 5'9'').

NoRoomForMeInMyBed Mon 14-Jan-13 20:22:58

Rainy day mac in 16 going back tomorrow, in red/grey. Keeping the 14 in green

loveyoutothemoonandback Mon 14-Jan-13 21:10:07

Perfect Cosy Parker is my star buy. I sent back the Slouch Merino Jumper (because actually I didn't look like Helena Christensen in it) and a fur collared heavy long cardi.

Dancergirl Tue 15-Jan-13 22:52:06

How warm is it loveyou?

teta Wed 16-Jan-13 10:46:20

My dc's said i looked like i was wearing a bush in the olive rainy day coat.I also felt like an overgrown toddler in mine,so i returned it.I have returned all the Boden clothes i have ordered this year. They just don't seem to suit me and the spring brochure is terrible.I really wouldn't be seen dead in those clothes. But i also seem to have the wrong shaped body for the clothes to look right.

mrsshackleton Wed 16-Jan-13 10:46:57

Emma does absolutely nothing for me, probably too old sad going straight back.

However, am v pleased with a lot of stuff I bought from the Limited Collection and the Stella jacket.

Dancergirl Wed 16-Jan-13 15:52:02

I also returned my Emma, very disappointing. Looked cheap and the fabric was think and viscose-y.

magso Wed 16-Jan-13 21:38:01

I ordered an Emma tunic (before the sale) and found it needed to hang for a while to look presentable. My first attempt was an 8regular (I am between 8 and 10 and 5ft 2) and it was about 2 inches above the knee and emphasised my newly acquired thickened waist. Next ( wanting knee length but liking the style) I tried a 10 long, which skims better but is a good 2 inches below my knee. Perhaps a 10 regular would have fitted.

Dancergirl Wed 16-Jan-13 22:00:28

meltedcreditcard Thu 17-Jan-13 08:02:35

Lots and lots of returns now! Just had a look, must stop!

ChablisLover Thu 17-Jan-13 08:43:30

wow - Melted

just had a look and the number of returns are amazing! Granted most of them say low stock but they must have be inundated with returns!

Wonder if Johnnie will reduce prices anymore?

joliejolie Thu 17-Jan-13 09:49:28

I've ordered a jacket that I'm sure isn't actually in stock, which happens too much to me during the Boden sale with low stock items! I'm eyeing up bargain kids wellies and cardigans too. Made a resolution to not spend money (lasted almost 10 days), so I'm late to the Boden bargains and am thrilled there's a new wave of stock!

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Thu 17-Jan-13 09:59:25

There is loads, all at the higher of of the price brackets quoted.

I hope they drop a bit more!

rubytutu Thu 17-Jan-13 10:34:50

On a complete whim I ordered the silk notch dress in navy and it is an amazingly flattering fit, will wear to christening in April. Also ordered the claudia dress in pewter which again for £55 looks very classy. Less sure about that one though. Vaguely tempted by the chunky buckle boots has anyone got them?

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Thu 17-Jan-13 10:45:10

I've got them in Conker ruby they're nice boots, great leather.

They have a little zip on the inside of the ankle which some reviewers don't like but i wouldn't be able to get them on without it!

They are padded and nice & thick.

Wore them for the first time yesterday, they gave me a whopping blister on my heel but i will persevere - for the price they are a bargain.

I also ordered the boho top on a whim and it's lovely. Will be nice for spring/summer or even holiday.

alemci Thu 17-Jan-13 10:49:33

dd loved merino cardi and stripey top in navy. Haven't tried black velvet skirt on yet. tempted to have another look.

shame they haven't a return section you can access quickly

alemci Thu 17-Jan-13 10:55:50

are you still able to get free returns and postage. seems to have disappeared on site.

alemci Thu 17-Jan-13 11:08:02

thanks Hokey, probably best not to look. Johnny always does very nicely out of myself and 2 dd's. see what people mean about returns, better go and do some ironing.

mirpuppet Thu 17-Jan-13 12:11:42

My item order late in the sale came with free delivery AND a free returns label.

I don't think prices will be further reduced -- those items are headed to the Town Hall sales next.

rubytutu Thu 17-Jan-13 14:47:00

Speaking of which where can I find the list of dates and locations? Tried googling but none for 2013 came up.
Chunky buckle boots duly ordered, thanks hokey.

MooseyMoo Thu 17-Jan-13 15:15:46

My best buy so far has been the Toasty Button Through. I love it as its warm and comfortable and the strip of velvet where the buttons are is a lovely touch.

I couldn't believe how much stock appeared this morning. I've been looking at the rainy day mac and finally taken the leap of ordering the olive green version. My DH is most likely going to look hmm but I'm fed up with looking scruffy and want to smarten up (as much as I can with 2.7 yr old and 14 mo). And at £35 I thought it was worth a shot.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Thu 17-Jan-13 16:08:59

I didn't like the button though Moosey what colour did you get i got the grey but it's not as it looks.

Just ordered a washed hoody and a knitted gilet, mainly because i have never tried either before and got a linen ribbon trim top as well as i thought it might do for my holiday later in the year.

MooseyMoo Thu 17-Jan-13 20:21:14

hokey I did get the grey version. I was tempted by the navy as its in stock but I don't need it.

Dancergirl Thu 17-Jan-13 21:36:35

Has anyone tried the Pretty trim dress? I can't decide if it's frumpy or not.

What kind of a red is the red Emma tunic? I have the charcoal one and love it so much, but avoided ordering as the colour code was ORA (orange?) and I definitely don't suit that colour. I'm after a properly RED red <picky> Please enable me blush

slalomsuki Sat 19-Jan-13 08:27:40

It's a dark red/Scarlett not a bright red I have bought a couple more things now and some kids stuff.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sun 20-Jan-13 09:01:34

Had another parcel yesterday, i got the Snuggly Gilet in Bayleaf for £34!!

It is bloody lovely and excellent quality, ordered the washed hoody to try as well, it's fine but nothing special, not particularly thick and at a £1 more than the Gilet it's going back.

TheaJTS Sun 20-Jan-13 09:28:00

Got my final (I think!) 4 items - Slouch Merino Jumper x 2, Twist Front Top & Pretty Crew Neck Cardigan.
All went back :-(

Slouch Merino Jumper was a strange unflattering shape on me - way too much fabric under the arms... (as a previous poster said - I didn't look like Helena Christensen in it either!!!).
Cardigan was fine, but I decided that the dress I bought it to go with actually needs a crop cardigan instead.
Twist Front Top (cranberry) was a very bright red (was hoping for something more subtle - since when were cranberries BRIGHT red?), and looked, I thought, a bit cheap.
Like people above have said, just had a quick peek again and I'm amazed by how much has suddenly come back into stock... If you missed out on something then now's the time to look!

alemci Sun 20-Jan-13 11:29:55

Tried the black velvet skirt on, keeping it absolutely lovely and warm. very useful and I think £23.40 is very reasonable. YD loved the navy merino cardi and guernsey top looked great on her.

Wanted some particular boots. Is it worth it to keep checking. do things keep coming back into stock. I keep checking. Wished I'd ordered welly boots but hesitated and that was it.

MrsSchadenfreude Sun 20-Jan-13 12:21:44

I have sent back the twist front tops as I thought the fabric was a bit thin, and they made my tits look even bigger than they are! I now have the Emma in charcoal, red and khaki print, and am struck by the different lengths of each! The charcoal is about 3 inches below my knees, the khaki one about one inch below and the red one bang on knee level.

polyhymnia Sun 20-Jan-13 15:46:54

You're right on the Emma. I'm tall and only on my third try - ie, the charcoal - did I get one long enough for me, ie just over my knee.

slalomsuki Sun 20-Jan-13 16:49:08

Having ordered some more stuff Johnnie B is now spam emailing me to leave a review of all the things I have bought with the temptation of £50. Has anyone ever gotten the £50 for the review?

Heavywheezing Sun 20-Jan-13 16:58:28

I emailed them this week regarding the town hall sales because I knew there was one in London in march. But they only gave me the one closest, which they had moved further away and later.
So I asked again and they only gave me one more in Oxford in June.

Perhaps we could all find out where they are and make our own lst of where they are.

mirpuppet Sun 20-Jan-13 16:59:05

I have never been asked for a review.

Do it quick and get the money wink

mirpuppet Sun 20-Jan-13 17:00:30

So will there be a town hall sale in London in March or are you referring to the one in March 2012?

Heavywheezing Sun 20-Jan-13 17:03:04

I was referring to the one in 2012.
They wouldn't tell me if there is one in march this year. Very cagey.

mirpuppet Sun 20-Jan-13 17:08:00

Yeah -- I assumed it was 2012. I do not see them on the schedule for Olympia and in recent years I know I went once in March and once in November so I'm sure it depends on their stock levels and what they shift at other town hall sales

Heavywheezing Sun 20-Jan-13 18:27:32

I had a look at olympia's website too. Couldn't find anything either.
But they have moved the one near bath to nearer Dorset so the whole thing might be changing this year.

rubytutu Mon 21-Jan-13 15:54:22

Have had same email touting for reviews, may as well, have kept them in business these last few weeks with my orders and returns.
Heavywheezing I think we need to start a thread re the town hall sales. Will do it now.

slalomsuki - thank you! It arrived this morning and is a brilliant red. Very pleased!
