Now I know what not to buy - even if everyone else is buying it.

shoeprincess2 Mon 31-Dec-12 13:34:09

Finding my style isect my proj for 2013. I have perfume (thanks to DonaAna and fellow perfumistas) and makeup sorted, but have lost my way a little with having children and feeling that at 36, I'm not really high street anymore. I know what jeans and trousers suit me, so it is tops and dresses. I feel another thread being created

Hopefully Mon 31-Dec-12 13:55:26

OPI nail envy
8 hour cream as a face mask
My leather leggings <swoon>

CountBapula Mon 31-Dec-12 14:03:16

Definitely second MUA eyeshadows - the Undressed palette is brilliant.

Also:
Nails Inc Kensington Caviar topcoat - dries all glossy in less than a minute
Butter London nail polishes - fab colours that go on flawlessly, without formaldehyde
Clinique Airbrush concealer for my sleep-deprived eyes <glares at 2yo DS>
Bioderma Hydrabio Riche moisturiser and face mask - sorted out my dry, flaky face in 2 days flat (after trying everything since the age of 8)
Phyto 7 day cream for hair - makes my hair all glossy and expensive-looking, without silicones

A lot of those were recommendations from Lisa Eldridge, who I luff.

jalopy Mon 31-Dec-12 14:11:21

I also discovered that Liz Earle skincare does nothing for me at all.

Pinot Mon 31-Dec-12 15:00:06

How I love them.

AlphasTurkeyLeftoverSpagBol Mon 31-Dec-12 15:01:55

Simple kind to skin cleansing lotion and a hot flannel. I have adult acne and this has been a revelation. And soooo much cheaper than products aimed at acne ridden skin.

Garnier BB anti-ageing cream for when I have a tan.

Oasis leather biker jacket - oh how I adore this.

Charliefox Mon 31-Dec-12 15:39:59

Ooo yeah, rose hip oil for me too. I also think it's helped a bit with my temperamental skin.

YouCanCallMeBetty Mon 31-Dec-12 15:56:18

This Korean BB cream. Wonderful stuff - doesn't make me orange and shiny like the Garnier one did.

Despite looking scarily grey when you squeeze it out it blends in really well - I look like me but better, with sleep.

Zwitterion Mon 31-Dec-12 16:33:37

Body Shop vitamin E range
Body Shop make up brushes

BikeRunSki Mon 31-Dec-12 17:00:48

Only 3 days ago, but, skinny jeans! Recently lost 2 stone and all my old mummy bootcuts were falling down. Still got half a stone to go, so have only got one cheap pair from Saino for now, but looking forward to expanding my collection.

FunnyLittleFrog Mon 31-Dec-12 17:12:00

BBH
Estee Lauder double wear
Nutrogena stuff for spots
Top Shop Artreu boots (love em)
Zara skinnies (after years of avoiding Zara because of scary small sizes I have found these skinny jeans in SIZE 10 <faints> make me actually LOSE a stone!)

Probably most importantly is that I have found stuff that is good and works for me - all based on sound recommendations from others - rather than buying random crap as in the past.

Also know how to avoid being frumpy (I think).

novelsituation Mon 31-Dec-12 17:19:28

coconut oil

<obsessed with the stuff emoticon> grin

MoomieAndFreddie Mon 31-Dec-12 17:35:30

oh and the oil cleansing method

I am with ohforfoxsake on the lash extensions. They are just amazing - so long as they are applied properly, professionally so you dont get the drag queen look. grin

I love some Benefit make up, who's that gal primer, lemonaid eye primer, erase paste and best of all, Benefit mascara They're Real.

Dark Grey or dark blue eyeliner - Stila is nice, but equally rimmel do decent ones as does Bourjois and cheap compared to other brands.

What I dont like. Mineral Make up - gives me spots.

And my favourite hair 'must' product is Keratin treatment for my fluffy, frizzy hair. It is amazing and makes this time of year bearable for my hair.

Ren glycolactic mask (love Ren)
S&G foot file

Ideas on lots of stuff, not bought yet but will buy including..

MUA eye palette
Aldi creams

lurkingaroundTheXmasTree Mon 31-Dec-12 18:06:38

The most important thing I learned is: never (if at all at all at all possible) pay full price. Watch for discounts or post here looking for a magical "code".

Next is: blogs. They're like magazines and free. Fantastic.

Babyliss Big Hair, love it. A late convert, it's fab for my hair.

Mac eyeshadows
Boots No7 Fanomenal mascara
Chanel no 5
Aldi moisturiser and undereye pen
French soaps

noddyholder Tue 01-Jan-13 15:31:03

Recommend cos jumpers if you don't like bulk too!smile
