I was thinking about buying some black coated jeggings as an alternative to black skinny jeans for going out. Now I am wondering if 41 is to old to wear coated jeggings. I tried a pair on today and liked how they look. Do any of you ladies over 40 wear them and how do you wear them?
I've got some, if by 'jeggings' you mean the M&S skinny jeans. I'm 42. I wear them with a mid thigh length jumper and ankle boots plus a biker jacket for casual and with heels and a longish silk top for evening.
I'm 38 And I'm going to get some
My 50yo mum bought some today.
They looked fab on her.
I can't wait to borrow them off her.
I have coated skinny jeans in black and wear them with this

They look great with a chunky knit......
Am 45 and wear them.
Have got the Marks ones Remus mentioned in chocolate.love them and wer them alot in daytime.
Have also got Dorothy Perkins black ones which I wear in the evening. They are pull on style,Marks ones more like jeans.
Was going to get the dp petite black ones cos they're 30% off... But I'm 46...I thought they'd be ok if you're not too muttony in the styling.
I have this pair and they are great

Im 34 and wear coated jeans black and red
What are coated jeans?
I'm (just) 43 and wear them, either with a chunky knit during the day or more dress top for evening.
If you like them, get them!
I have the Primark black coated jeans and I am 45. They cost peanuts (£11 or £14, can't remember) and everyone admires them. I wear them with chunky (long) knits and long drapey tops and they are by far my favourite jeans. Do it!
I think the coated ones look a bit cheapy as they are everywhere. Not too old for skinnies though if younare in good shape. I am 47 and wear them. Be prepared though for not being the only one wearing them at the party! I went out to lunch on sat and saw about 5 pairs all on mums. I think really black tight skinnies look better but just IMO
iywym that they look leather.. i have the shorts and leggings
i plan to wear leggings like this here but less shapeless top
(im 72)
The shorts are lovely.
Why the ageism?
If something fits you, suits you and you like it - wear it.
You're all crackers! You can wear whatever you want at you're tender age! I'm 50 I don't consider it time to start wearing twinset and pearls! Wear them and if you're a larger lady and they make them in your size, wear them! That's why THEY GO UP TO YOUR SIZE!
I'm 52. If they suited me I'd wear them. I love Zara's coated ones and their shirts and jerseys and I see loads of women my age and older in there trying stuff on and looking amazing.
I've got the Dorothy P ones, I wore them to a party this weekend with a slouchy black glittery jumper and high heels and looked ok fabulous!
I prefer the proper jeans I have zara ones and they aren't jeggings
remus if you return to this thread can you explain what you mean by longish silk tops, possibly by way of some links...?
I bought some coated skinny jeans today (oasis premium denim, 10 quid off, amazing btw) and would like to wear them to a party on sat night, but not sure what to put with them tops-wise... It's going to be hot in the venue so can't do sparkly knit wear.
The warehouse ones are better than the DP ones I think. The DP ones appeared to have room for a willy.
And god - I'm now 40 and feeling sad at the number of threads about older people and they mean my age
MrsC I am 47 and don't give 2 hoots
Pmsl at 'room for a willy.'
Longish silk tops - generally these are from Warehouse and are sort of bum length. Unfortunately they seem to be doing fewer and fewer silk things nowadays.
I've also got a floaty sleeveless thing which isn't silk but comes to just below bum length and looks good with the skinnies and heels and a blazer.
Not silk but this shape nice under a blazer for going out
Or this sort of thing but minus the long bit at the back Again, not silk though.
They don't seem to have any silk ones now, which is v v annoying.
But if you're not fussy about fabric, they have some nice tops that will go with skinnies - in fact, most of them have been styled with skinnies.
Remus - so sad that warehouse don't do silk anymore. Used to get some lovely tops from there.
It's a pain - and I have yet to find anywhere else which meets my taste/price limit as much, so seem to have fewer and fewer tops in my wardrobe and therefore never have anything to wear!
Hehehe mrs cb Lol at dp willy space! Hmmmm difficult choice between spare fabric at ankles ( short legs) and spare fabric at crotch!!! Ankles win, shall hide the folds with boots. Off to warehouse for black ones tomorrow....
River island have lovely ones with zips, I've got them in chocolate and I love them!
Thank-you all for your replies and ideas. This is forum is great for different opinions.
The ones that I tried on were actually from Warehouse. They were quite flattering and a good fit. I do have some long blouses and tops to wear with them. So I will also be off to buy them tomorrow!
coo the warehouse ones are a lot $ though aren't they?
I've been following this thread and am now seriously considering buying... however..what are you wearing on your feet? I get the slouchy jumpers/ tops/ layering etc.
Heels. Or heeled shoe boots. For le soir
I paid £26 for the warehouse ones from HOF so not much more than the DP ones
You need the suede autograph boots from m&s in navy if wearing indigo coated - maximum leg lengthening
I bought the new look coated skinnies, I liked the warehouse ones but felt they were a bit too high waisted. I have worn it with this which drapes nicely
I have just bought this FC top in pink
Thanks so much for the links Remus, I'm going to pop to Warehouse today. I get a nice student discount there as well
I managed to pick my black coated leggings from warehouse at debenhams in today's sale reduced from £42 to £32.70 for one day only. I like those tops Clure.
Love that sweatshirt in grey.
I thought I'd give the DP ones ago as they have a flash sale (again) but you can stack a couple of codes and get £1 delivery so brought them down to under £15. Worth a punt.
