what weight are you if you are 5 ft 8?

Please lovely ladies,

I need some perspective here as people keep telling me I'm as I should be but not sure I agree....

I am 5 ft 8 , at the minute I weigh 11 st 8lb. Classic apple shape, 34ff boobs but good pair of legs! I feel I'm still fat at this weight even though I'm largely in a size 12 top and (mostly) bottom. Realistically though I'm pushing 40 so really struggling to lose anymore weight (i drink too much red wine if truth be told!)

So, what do other ladies with similar stats to me weigh?
Should I be hitting the spin bike and shakes or relaxing a little

Thanks grin

TellMeLater Wed 21-Nov-12 22:19:08

These threads always amaze me - at 11st 8lbs I'd be a size 16-18, I'd look quite fat. I weigh 9st 10lbs and am a size 10....I don't feel skinny - I'm a pear shape and there is still ample flesh.

ThisIsMummyPig Wed 21-Nov-12 22:21:16

I am 5' 9" and 11st 11lbs.

I think I am just fine - (but secretly would like to be 11st 4 like I was when I met DH - 10 years ago and before 2 kids)

ShotgunNotDoingThePans Wed 21-Nov-12 22:21:30

I'm 5'7'' and weigh 10st 7lb, aged 49.
I consider myself a stone overweight, although tbh this 'extra' weight has been around for so long now I'm starting to adjust my concept of what's 'normal' for me. I'm an hourglass but a lot of the extra weight has accumulated around my middle, which alarms me.

Have cut out wine on weekdays as I think slipping into that particular bad habit hasn't done me any favours.

If I ever make it to 10st I'll re-evaluate but I just know that I always felt comfortable and 'me' at 9st 4-7lbs.

MuckingFunter Wed 21-Nov-12 22:22:19

9 stone 6 and a doughy size 10.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans Wed 21-Nov-12 22:23:42

And what Tellmelater said - just a couple more pounds for me and I'll be a 14. I already struggle to get into some of my 12 skinnies they've shrunk.

Sparklegeek Wed 21-Nov-12 22:23:50

I'm somewhere between 5 ft 8 & 9 & weigh 9 st 10lbs usually, this makes me a size 12. I like myself best at half a stone less but it's just too hard to maintain hmm

Frontpaw Wed 21-Nov-12 22:24:31

9 stones. Usually 8.5 but it just piled on in the last year.

doineedhelp Wed 21-Nov-12 22:25:33

Are you 5ft 8 tellmelater

God, I wish I'd not asked sad

Frontpaw Wed 21-Nov-12 22:26:55

Weight should be whatever you are comfortable with. I was just under 8 stones for years and years, although I used to be able to eat for England. Cant eat/drink as much these days but definately slowing down and not as much manic energy.

emsyj Wed 21-Nov-12 22:28:12

I am 5'7.5" and currently 12 stone 5lb - but also 30 weeks pregnant! grin

My 'normal' weight is about 11 stone and size 12. At 10 stone I'm a size 10 with a gauntish face. At 9 stone 10 ish people tell me I look skinny and ill and that they're worried about me.

BUT I am quite muscly and large framed and have prominent collar bones (still visible now with pregnancy padding) and you can see my ribs at 10 stone.

My DMum is 5' 8" and weighs about 10 stone and buys a size 14 as she has quite wide hips, but very skinny legs, and a broad back and thick waist. She is a very different shape from me and looks very different from how I do at that weight.

MuckingFunter Wed 21-Nov-12 22:29:44

Don't forget that your build plays a big part and muscle weighs much more.

ifancyashandy Wed 21-Nov-12 22:30:35

5'8" and 10 stone. Size 10-12. Apple shape but flat stomach & good legs (long and slim with shape. Best feature). 34DD boobs. I think I'm slim and like my body mostly.

BUT... I lost 4 stone a few years ago. At that extra weight I was definitely fat fo me at a size 16-18. Hated it. So started exercising and doing WW and it came off over about 2 years.

Decameron Wed 21-Nov-12 22:32:57

I'm 5'9 and 10.5 stone, size 12, occasionally a 10 on the bottom. I'm 40, also like red wine too much and could do with toning up a bit. When you are tall, you can carry the weight, I think.

TellMeLater Wed 21-Nov-12 22:35:28

I'm 5ft 8.5in. BUT you only have to look at threads like these to see that the variation in body weight to dress size is enormous. I'm fit too, but my legs remain stubbornly chunky. It really is a personal thing - I'd still look fine at 10st 6lbs - any more and I start looking chunky and I really struggle to find flattering clothes. I too enjoy consuming large quantities of red wine and sugar....I have to work at staying slim.

Fairylea Wed 21-Nov-12 22:38:35

I'm 12 stone 4 .. the heaviest I've ever been, damn baby weight since ds 5 months and no time or energy to lose it.

I'm a size 14.

My usual pre second baby weight is about 10 stone. Sigh.

Turquoiseblue Wed 21-Nov-12 22:41:38

between 9 - 9 st 3 lbs usually and I m 5'8
Size 8-10

SummerRain Wed 21-Nov-12 22:42:43

62kg past time I checked before ds1 murdered my scales using them as a trampoline. That's just under 10st I think, size 10 (although would have been s 12 in old sizing)

I need to lose about 5kg that I haven't managed to shift since having the kids.... I wouldn't mind but the excess weight is all on my belly so I look pregnant still and my youngest is almost 4!

herbaceous Wed 21-Nov-12 22:47:59

How depressing. I'm 11st 5, and for the the first tine for years feel faintly acceptable. But now I feel a total lard arse.

In my 20s I was 9 st 7, or thereabouts and a 10-12, in my 30s 10st 7 and a 12. And yet in my 40s, at a stone more, I'm still 12-14. Quite a good demonstration of vanity sizing!

OP, I am almost exactly the same as you, minus one cup size and plus one inch height!

I weigh 11st8, and can wear a 12 but I am more comfortable in a 14 still sad

I am pretty happy with my figure as this time last year I weighed at least one stone more. I have broad shoulders, breasts, a waist, hips and long legs, I am not made to be v v skinny!

If I lose too much, people ask me if I am OK all the time-I look all gaunt as the weight falls off my face and not my bum/stomach.

If I can get to 11 stone I will be completely happy.

Ivytheterrible Wed 21-Nov-12 22:53:50

I'm 5.7 1/2 and weigh 12st 10. Consider myself 10lbs overweight for me. Buy a 12/14 normally depending on the shop.

But I'm very athletic build. Was a borderline pro athlete when younger and still do around 7 hours of sport a week now. Have lots of muscle.

Nobody believes I weigh what I do if I tell them!

BluelightsAndSirens Wed 21-Nov-12 22:55:14

I'm 5 8, 8 stone something and a size 8.

doineedhelp Wed 21-Nov-12 22:57:17

Jeez, I'm hiding this thread now, its making me rather depressed wink although tis crazy to see the difference in body shape / sizes...

I'm kind of happy as a size 12, my husband and friends have often said I need to deduct about a stone for the weight of my boobs to get my 'true' weight...

Will endeavour to lose another half a stone but after Xmas / New year grin

Thanks all, been extremely enlightening!

DottyDot Wed 21-Nov-12 22:57:48

BLIMEY.... I'm 5'8", 14 stone and a size 18..! Mind you, I was 16.7 stone and a size 22 about 18 months ago , so my self image and confidence is pretty good right now.

I'd love to be between 13 and 13.7 stone and a size 16. That's as far as I can think - am just flabbergasted at (to my mind) the teeny tiny amounts some of you weigh..! grin

cece Wed 21-Nov-12 22:57:57

I'm in the process of losing weight at the moment and was starting to feel good but perhaps I shouldn't have read this thread!

13 stones and 7lbs this morning, and was justt getting excited to be able to wear a size 16 in the past few weeks! smile

I am aiming for 11stone and 7lbs as I would like to be a size 14. smile

doineedhelp Wed 21-Nov-12 23:02:38

Thanks sagely like you I was much heavier last year (3 stones thanks to lovely ds!) So I really need to put it in perspective...

I could only ever dream of being 10stone nevermind 8 stone like some of you. Really, how do you manage it?

Debs75 Wed 21-Nov-12 23:03:51

I'm 5'8" and 14 stone, after losing 2 stone this year. At my heaviest I have weighed over 17 stone and at my lightest adult weight was 11 stone 11 pounds. I have gone from a tight 12 to a baggy 22/24. I am a size 18 now as I have mammoth thighs which are always a size above my waist.

I have never been slim, probably never will be now after 4 kids and approaching 40 but I know if I lose another 2 stone and keep it off I will be healthier and happier

doineedhelp Wed 21-Nov-12 23:06:14

dottydot and cece I was your weight last year so know exactly what you mean... I'm also flabbergasted at how tiny some people are!

Good luck with it x

HoleyGhost Wed 21-Nov-12 23:12:43

Exactly 9 st, size 10

I have so little muscle that I still manage to have a high body fat %

CointreauVersial Wed 21-Nov-12 23:57:55

I'm 5 foot 7
9 stone 3lb
size 10

HollaAtMeBaby Thu 22-Nov-12 02:08:35

I'm just under 5'8, 11 stone, 32DD, waist 30", hips about 41" I think? Have loads of muscle though - only bit of me that looks podgy is my tummy but it's not that bad...

Turquoiseblue Thu 22-Nov-12 08:14:15

I think a lot of it is genetics to start with then lifestyle and diet etc play a part I suppose. I eat healthily, but if I analysed my diet I don't over do carbs but would have lot s of protein fruit and veg, and probably not enough dairy (not a fan) and too mich red wine and chocolate. I also swim with a team about 3-4 times a week which is the main reason I think that keeps me for healthy - I mostly do it for my meantl health though as I m a stress pot at the best of times sad - when I take a break from exercise for a few weeks I notice a few pounds creeping on

morethanalltheteainchina Thu 22-Nov-12 08:38:13

Am more like 5ft 9" than 5ft 8" and I'm hover around the 10st mark. This puts me at a small size 10. However, I spend a lot of time in the gym, running, doing (light) weights etc so would imagine that I have a low body fat percentage.

I have been around the 9st 7lb mark and started to look a bit boney across my chest and hips, and have also been around 12st, where I looked 'well covered' but no fat if that makes sense.

calypso2008 Thu 22-Nov-12 08:40:33

5 ft 9" about 9 stone. Size 8.

shrimponastick Thu 22-Nov-12 08:50:58

I am 5ft 9 and currently 12 stone.

I don't look overweight, but feel way too bulky.

I work out a lot, have v muscular legs, bum so maybe that's why.

Size 14 can be tight, but I refuse to buy any larger.

Low carbing at the mo, want to lose at least a stone.

Lowest adult weight was 9 st4 a few years ago. It didnt suit me.

Fairylea Thu 22-Nov-12 09:08:16

smile @ "well covered"

FromagePlease Thu 22-Nov-12 09:12:06

I'm 5ft 7"
10.5 stone
Size 10 - 12 (am a size 10 in generous shops like Boden, but really a 12)
I feel a bit podgy but I do no exercise at all at the moment for medical reasons, I could easily drop .5 stone if I did.
My lowest weight was 8.5 back in my youth.

RamblingRosa Thu 22-Nov-12 09:15:10

I'm 5ft 8.5" and 9st - size 8.

It doesn't mean anything though. Just looking at these threads you realise what a huge variation there is in size/shape/weight. Two people the same height and weight might be in totally different dress sizes just to do with their build and body shape. I always remember a girl at school who was teeny, slim and petite but somehow weighed more than other much taller girls.

DonaAna Thu 22-Nov-12 09:27:07

9 st to 9 st 5 lb. I come from a family of bird-boned constitutionally thin people, and used to be underweight (was not very happy about it - and did not have eating issues). To anyone who would love to be very thin, it was not that great - you look scrawny and frail, feel the cold acutely and struggle to feel like a woman in your A cup bra. And look like a skeleton in anything tight-fitting. I always wanted to be a voluptuous hourglass.

I'm now at the lower range of normal weight, and very happy with my body that is a bit rounder than it was before. I also need to watch my weight now - I would balloon to apple shape if I didn't. Breasts in proportion with dress sizes (34B/30C-D), I wear a size 12.

gnocci Thu 22-Nov-12 09:27:54

I'm 5'8'' and currently weigh 10st10 but am in the process of shedding baby weight. Aim is 9st8lbs ish. I'll be a small 10.

Weight has ranged from 7st12lbs (eating disorder) to 15st (9m pregnant!).

justasecond Thu 22-Nov-12 09:51:26

Blimey there must be something wrong with me. I am 5ft 7 and 8 St 8. I don't have a disorder I have just always been thin even after 3 kids. I agree with Dona Ana its not that great in terms of feeling cold and particularly peoples comments. I used to hate all the bitchy comments in my younger days now I don't care and feel quite grateful I can eat anything and not worry about it.

RamblingRosa Thu 22-Nov-12 10:06:07

Oh god yes...agree re feeling the cold. I turn blue.

legojunkie Thu 22-Nov-12 10:11:52

I am 5'8 and weigh 12.5 stone.i am a size 14 . I have very broad shoulders and back and 34 ff boobs. I would like to be 11 stone.

Arana Thu 22-Nov-12 10:13:30

I'm 5'8 and currently weigh 72kg, which makes me a bit tubby (just a size 12). My ideal weight is about 68/69kg and at 65kg I just look gaunt and ill. I used to weigh 100kg, so I guess it's all an improvement smile I just wish that my belly would go and I didn't look 4 months pregnant.

RooneyMara Thu 22-Nov-12 10:17:08

I'm 5ft7, and before I was pregnant, I was around 55kg, or 8 1/2 stone, hovering up to 8 3/4. Before that I was 9 stone-ish for ages, a few years at least, not counting pregnancies. Sometimes up to 9 1/2.

The most I've weighed is about 10 stone 2, when I was about 18. (now 39) I was also anorexic in my 20s and went down to around 6st. (not good)

I feel Ok at 8 1/2, my legs are still a bit chubby at that weight, well moreso than the rest of me...some people said I was too skinny though. I think my face shows it more.

I'm 34wks pg now and weigh about 10 1/2, 10 3/4 stone. I put all that on in the first 20 weeks.!

I'm OP's height - weigh about 10 stone. Went up to about 11 and a half stone when pregnant.
I don't really think too much about my weight unless something's suddenly very tight or very loose!
I always stay about this weight but i think it's because i do a hell of a lot of walking. (Don't drive) I also do Yoga and a bit of cycling, once or twice a week.

flakjacket Thu 22-Nov-12 10:18:20

5' 9, 12st (trying too get down to 11st 4). Size 14 on bottom, 16/18 on top because of 30JJ bra sizeblush

PropositionJoe Thu 22-Nov-12 10:25:11

I'm 5'8" and 8st12. If I get to 9st I cut out the crisps/wine/choc until I get back down. Narrow wrists and ankles, long skinny arms and legs, no boobs to speak of. Stats approx 33 27 37. (Don't see the point of putting dress size as these vary so widely.)

YouHaveBeenOutbid Thu 22-Nov-12 11:19:14

5'8'', 11 stone 4 at the moment. I used to be one of those that could eat what I wanted and stay a size 8. I was desperate to put weight on, then I turned 30 and realised I was getting bigger... and bigger... and bigger till I became a good size 14. I went up approximately a dress size a year and that was pre baby. These days I'm in a 12 (just). I had no baby weight as hyperemesis caused me to drop about 2 and half stone.

CuriousMama Thu 22-Nov-12 11:27:02

I'm 5 ft 8, and weigh 12.5 stone but it goes up and down depending on AF? Not by much though. I'd like to lose a stone but I look ok. Am size 14. No one ever believes I'm as heavy as I am but maybe they're being polite ;) There's a pic of me on here not sure if you can tell if I look fat or not? Not that I care grin

Op you're slip of a thing stop worrying!

emsyj Thu 22-Nov-12 11:46:16

None of this is very helpful really, simply because different people look very different at the same weight. I have a friend who's the same height as me and I look much thinner than her at 10 stone - she only really looks slim at 9 stone. It's just down to body shape. I can't imagine being much less than 10 stone - at that weight, I have a gap between my thighs, a rack of ribs that you could play the xylophone on and stick-like arms. At 9 stone I would just look ill. Yet another friend looks slim (very very slim, but not ill or gaunt) at 8 stone and she's a smidge taller than me at 5' 9".

You have to find a weight that's happy for you. I have no ambition to weigh 8 stone, it wouldn't 'sit' well on me. I look and feel happily skinny at 10 stone and so that's my aim (once DC2 is out) - even though many would look and feel too big at 10 stone who are the same height. When I joined Weightwatchers (I have been much bigger in the past) I thought I wanted to be 9 stone, but when I got to 10 stone 5lb I realised that 9 stone would be too low for me, so I set goal at 10 stone and I was completely happy with my size and shape at that weight.

I think collecting weight and size data is irrelevant and unhelpful yet strangely fascinating and compulsive in the same way that collecting labour stories is when you're expecting your first baby! grin Just don't set too much store by any of it.

doineedhelp Thu 22-Nov-12 11:47:47

didn't think i would have started such a busy thread asking about this...
Realise that although i'm relatively okay with weight i ideally would like to be how i was in my early 20s (10 7) but realistically i think half a stone lighter could be as far as i could get these days, so much harder in late 30s to lose any weight

Thanks curious i'll have a look at the pic... its funny you should say that as people say that to me too. It must be the FF boobs!

doineedhelp Thu 22-Nov-12 11:51:02

curious looking at your pic we could be twins, except my hair is shorter grin

emsyj you are completely right, i would look awful at anything less than 10 stone, but it is fascinating reading what everyone weighs and wants to weigh. Guess what i've learnt is that i'm never really happy at any weight, but it seems like i'm not the only one!!

ThatBintAgain Thu 22-Nov-12 11:57:41

I'm 5'9 and at 12 stone I wasn't entirely happy but I didn't look fat. Didn't look skinny either but just alright. I'd be happy at 11st. I was 10st at 21 and was skinny- I wouldn't necessarily beat myself up over being that weight again, I've had two kids since, my hips have permanently widened and i'll never be 21 again! And that's fine. grin

101handbags Thu 22-Nov-12 12:00:44

I'm 5' 8" and hover between 9 stone 6 and 9 stone 10. Am a size 10 - 12. Last year I got down to 9 stone 1 by dieting. I think I was too skinny and look better with the extra half a stone. Although perhaps I am just saying that as, like others have written above, it's just too hard to maintain...

gnocci Thu 22-Nov-12 12:52:31

proposition your stats are very interesting as I actually remember when I was 8st12 I was 33-23-33 at the same height as you! Just goes to prove different bodies distribute weight differently.

PropositionJoe Thu 22-Nov-12 12:53:25

A lot does depend on your natural shape, I have always been the way I am now, I was just the same (but perkier, and with a smaller waist, obv) as a teenager. If i had a bust I would weigh more!

PoshPaula Thu 22-Nov-12 13:25:46

I am 5 7.5 and weigh 9 st. 2 lb. I am a few pounds overweight - 9 stone has been my fighting weight all my life. I'm 43, with three kids. I've got the sort of figure that people describe as 'willowy'. Not much of a bust but long legs.

legojunkie Thu 22-Nov-12 13:39:15

poshpaulayour bmi is 20. You are definitely not overweight.

I am 5 ft 9 and weigh bang on 11 stone. If I'm critical I think I have a few wobbly bits (belly & bum) but look fine in (size 12) clothes so am happy (ish). If I've weighed more than this before it's when I've been eating too much crap - if I eat healthily 11 stone is the weight I seem to settle at.

I think this thread just goes to show it's never as simple as height v weight - there are all different types and shapes of bodies so one 'weight' doesn't ever fit all.

Ilovecrossfit Thu 22-Nov-12 13:48:50

mmm I wouldnt consider half of you her eoverweight. im 5ft10 size 12/14 and except toning my tummy im hoping not to lose much of my skinny legs or bottom...well thats how I felt until I read this thread!

I think 2 people with the sa,e weight can look very different, most of my weight is in my boobs, Im top heavy my friend weighs less than me but got shorter legs and even she's stone less she is also 2 inches shorter so all makes a huge difference...

all i say as long as you happy smile)...

naturelover Thu 22-Nov-12 13:49:35

9 stone 12 pounds - my lowest in years. Any lower and I will be too thin as I'm big boned. In fact at xmas I expect my mother to say I'm too thin now. I will ignore her as this is the weight I feel happiest at.

ghoulelocks Thu 22-Nov-12 13:51:21

I'm small boned, just to share the difference you can get...

I m 33 weeks pregnant and 11st 4lb.

I am normally about 8st 9lb, which is a slim size 10 with a small belly roll from babies (this is my barrier to a size 8). Noone would say skinny, I have a d-cup and belly. Others at that height and weight would look/ feel awful I'm sure.

anothercuppaplease Thu 22-Nov-12 13:52:53

I am 5 7 and a biscuit, and I weight 10 st 10.

I used to be 9 st 10 pre kids, and now I'm 41 so I think I'm doing ok. I have small boobs though, b cup. I am a size 12 or 14 depending on cut and shop.

Lovemy3kids Thu 22-Nov-12 13:56:31

I'm 5' 9 and I haven't stepped on a pair of scales for approximately a year and a half. I take a size 12 on top, and a size 14 on bottom - though I feel terribly overweight and very wobbly all over! I have huge hips (that I wish I could just carve the fat off, but nothing seems to work) and a small chest (34b)

I once became so obsessed with the scales and how much I weighed that I was stepping on them everytime I entered and left the bathroom - I now go by how my clothes feel on me.

Friends all say that I am slim and have a good figure but having been a "fat" teenager (size 18/20) I only ever see myself as fat..... sad

Nooneelseisallowedafergus Thu 22-Nov-12 13:56:59

Muscle weighs more than fat but takes up less room.

So someone may weigh a stone more then someone else but be the same dress size or smaller as they are more toned than the 'lighter' person.

Throw out your scales and swap them for a tape measure.

I am lighter now than on my wedding day. But I am much more podgy and unfit.

Inches matter much more than pounds.

Furoshika Thu 22-Nov-12 14:01:12

5'8" and 11st 12lb, size 14. Definitely overweight. Spent my twenties between 9st and 10st, my thirties between 10st 7lb and 11st, and now in my forties have crept up. I look good at 10st 7, size 12.

I am 5'7 an currently weigh around 9st10 I think. I think this is fine and I'm comfy with it, although I did love being 8.5 stone, it was just too much like hard work and deprivation. I went up to 13+ stone whilst pregnant and am happy that I eventually returned to an easier weight without much effort.

wilbur Thu 22-Nov-12 14:06:26

I'm 5'8" and weight 10st 3lbs (pear-shaped, muscular and small boobs). Prefer to be slightly under 10st as that makes me a comfortable size 12 on my bottom half, which is my benchmark. If I were to try and get to a size 10, my face would look like wrinkly death - the face/arse equation is very true after 40. About 3 years ago I lost 20lbs after carrying the "baby weight" around til ds2 was 4. It was hard to lose but worth it for me. Doubt I could go much lower without having to stop eating entirely and it's def getting harder as I get older.

Bride1 Thu 22-Nov-12 14:18:58

I am just under 5 ft 8 and weigh 9st 7lb--9st 9lb, depending on time of month and where I am in my 5:2 cycle. I am 48. I weighed more than this for quite a bit of my twenties.

blondassassin Thu 22-Nov-12 15:14:00

5'8" and 9st 2 - No boobs, all muscle! Muscle definitely weighs more than fat.

PoshPaula Thu 22-Nov-12 15:15:11

legojunkie - point taken, you're right. I'm not overweight, it's a control thing to be honest.

10outof10 Thu 22-Nov-12 16:26:03

5ft 8 and 10stone 10. Wouldn't mind being 10st 2, but would mean having to sacrifice my addiction to wine gums.

ExitPursuedByMarieAntoinette Thu 22-Nov-12 16:31:04

Where are all the Tongans when you need them?

Not saying.

cardamomginger Thu 22-Nov-12 16:31:24

5 ft 7.5 inches and 8 stone 10. Am a size 8-10.

Eglantyne Thu 22-Nov-12 16:35:43

6ft and 11st 12. That makes me a size 14. I'm happy with it but have to dress carefully as still have pot belly even though youngest dc is 5... I was 11st 2 pre kids and for a few months in between kids. That would be my ideal weight.

amothersplaceisinthewrong Thu 22-Nov-12 16:41:07

I am five foot seven and weigh exactly 10 stone. I was 12 stone 1 six months ago and squeezing into a size 14, but after deciding to eat less and move more I have got down to 10 stone. and size 12. I feel my very best at about 9 stone 10, so will carry on to get there, but at 52 it is much harder.....

Chandon Thu 22-Nov-12 16:46:23

Eglantine, snap for height and weight!

Am 12 on top and 14 on hips.

Pot bellied, slightly...

NotAChocolateRaisin Thu 22-Nov-12 16:47:04

5ft8.5 (The point five counts!!) and anything from 11st 12p to 12st 2...

I am "under average" but my boobs and huge arse weigh me down. I am frequently described as having a Kim Kardasian Bum.

Small waist though so I'll thank my stars for that...

Caerlaverock Thu 22-Nov-12 16:47:44

5' 9 10 stone 4. Size 12/10 would like to be 9 12.

NotAChocolateRaisin Thu 22-Nov-12 16:48:44

A point to make though - are you fat when you look in the mirror? Weight means nothing as it is dictated by so many other factors.

You shouldn't judge fatness by your weight but by your measurements. Take an honest look in the mirror - not the scales.

Caerlaverock Thu 22-Nov-12 16:51:10

Better still take an honest look at some photos. I was a shocker at the start of the year. I have no waist so excess weight looks awful on me.

Mollydoggerson Thu 22-Nov-12 16:53:54

12 stone and a full bodies size 14, I look my best at 10 stone. The weight has been creeping up on me, small kids etc. I know, no real excuse and I will have to tackle the weight. I look fine at 11 stone and pretty good at 10 stone, but pudgey and jowley at 12 stone.

Altoeager Thu 22-Nov-12 16:57:07

I'm 5'9 and 14 stone 3 lb size 16 top and 18 bottoms.

On my way down though after a baby. Aim is 12 stone. Some of you are so waif-like!

Another that's what I'm working my way to but ekkk reading you all I may need readjust my goals

But I am top heavy always will be

ifancyashandy Thu 22-Nov-12 17:21:19

I look waaaay too skinny under 10 stone at 5'8'. I've got long legs, a defined waist, decent size bust and long arms and neck. I'm hourglass and I look scrawny and hollow if I go any lighter!

Size 10 mainly.

baskingseals Thu 22-Nov-12 17:37:09

i am nearly 5'8 - i weigh in at about 11 and a half stone. i have stupidly skinny legs and bum, massive tummy, and generous bust.

op - i hope this makes you feel better. i fold my tummy into my jeans iykwim.
i look at clothes i used to wear, and a little tear trickles slowly down my cheek. grin

SantyClaws Thu 22-Nov-12 17:41:45

OP i am the same height and weight as you, and even the same drinking habits boobage!

i am a 14 and feel a bit podgy round the middle so have just started a little diet to get about a stone off. I am not fat but have an even overall coverage that i'm a bit unhappy wiht.

i am much happier at ten and a half stone than eleven and a half

bigTillyMint Thu 22-Nov-12 17:46:28

I am 5'8" and don't know what I currently weigh as I am too scared to step on the scales, but I imagine it may be about 10 10.
I am wearing size 12 ATM, and am a fairly muscular/broad pear-ish shape.

I have to keep dieting to stay at size 10 now I am a crepey (around 10 stone) and I can't currently be bothered.

When I was in my 20's I was around 9 stone and a size 8 in old money. When I dropped to 8 1/2 stone, I looked like a walking skeleton!

NeverFullyDressedWithoutAScarf Thu 22-Nov-12 17:49:36

I am 5'7 and weigh 10 st 6 and am about 10/ 12 in clothes. I have enormous breasts, which I think takes up a lot of my weight grin

suburbandream Thu 22-Nov-12 17:52:39

I'm 5'8" and 11 stone (70kg), that gives me a BMI of 23 but I feel a bit big at this size, I'm a 12-14. I'm happier around 10 1/2 stone but struggle to maintain it and still eat the chocolate I need!!

Woozley Thu 22-Nov-12 17:53:41

12 and a half stone - yes too heavy for me but I'm a size 14 and pretty toned and fit, visible stomach muscles, so I don't consider myself massive. If I get to 11 something I'd be a size 12, at 10 something, usually about 10 and a half stone I start to fit into a 10. I don't carry much weight on my middle but have muscly limbs. I measure about 37" 28" 40". My bra size is 36C.

Happiestinwellybobs Thu 22-Nov-12 17:58:20

I'm 5' 8" and around 9 stone 8 pounds which makes me an 8-10. However I have no boobs sad. I have been up to 11 stone 4 but my current weight is the lightest I've been. Put the loss down to stress and now maintained by chasing my nonstop toddler around smile

Downfall Thu 22-Nov-12 18:05:36

I'm 5'8" and 12 stone 1lb.
Size 14 and a spongey hour glass.
Generally happy except when my chin started cloning itself and decorating itself with hair spikes, but this could just be the doom of the forties.

nursingdreams Thu 22-Nov-12 18:08:24

I'm 5ft10 now I weigh 14st 4 and am a size 18. However Feb 2011 I weighed over 20 stone and I believe this is the lightest I've been as an adult, I'd like to get down to around 12stone which would give me a healthy BMI

winnybella Thu 22-Nov-12 18:15:48

I'm 5'8" and 9st, size 8-10. Before DD it was 8st. I have lots of flab, though, so am amazed that people can be 10-20 kg more and not consider themselves large (ish).Having said that, I've got really small bones so perhaps any weight gain is more visible on me than on someone with a larger frame.

Emandlu Thu 22-Nov-12 18:23:34

I am 5' 8.5" I am just the wrong side of 12 stone at the moment which puts me in a size 12. At 11 stone I am thin and get people asking me if I am ok as I seem very gaunt. At 11.5 stone I think I am about right. Currently I am definitely too big as I am uncomfortable in my clothes.

ScaredySquirrel Thu 22-Nov-12 18:36:56

around the same as you OP, smaller bust, lardier legs - so a size 14 below. I'm 6 months post baby though and hopefully will lose more once I stop breastfeeding (will usually be around a 32d bust) and tone up a bit. i don't seem to get below 11.4 but can get much fitter and am then a size 10 on top and a 12 below. I'm a column shape though with short legs (don't I sound attractive!).

I'd love to below 11st but haven't managed it for years. Having said that, for much of my 20s I was heavier.

I would prefer to be a size 10 myself.

lljkk Thu 22-Nov-12 18:50:21

I am something like 5' 7.75". Weight about 60-61 kg, which I think is a shade over 9.5 stone. I would look fat as heck with another 1-2 stone.

I wear size 8 trousers & 16 tops (not big boobs, broad shouldered & long bodied).

I hate eating if I'm stressed out or rushed, so will skip or delay meals instead.

JudeFawley Thu 22-Nov-12 19:07:24

I'm 5'7 (& a half!) and weigh 9st9. Size 12, sometimes 10.

I would be v fat at 11st 8. I have briefly been 10.5 stone and really looked chubby and had a fat belly.

Urbanvoltaire Thu 22-Nov-12 19:15:45

9 stone 3, size 14 on top (broad shoulders), size 10 bottoms.

I do a lot of running which keeps the weight off.

SunsetMojito Thu 22-Nov-12 19:25:44

I am 8.5 and 5 ft8.

LDNmummy Thu 22-Nov-12 19:28:53

I'm 5.8" and you and I are pretty much exactly the same by the sound of it OP.

AND I'M 26, so I wouldn't worry if I were you.

When I was 20 I had a physical exam and was about 9 stone. The nurse took my mixed ethnicity into account and said I was underweight. But, ethnicity aside, I think being 9 stone at 5.8" is generally underweight. She gave me a long lecture about it in fact.

I wouldn't aim to loose too much weight at your size, in fact you sound like you have a great figure for your age.

LDNmummy Thu 22-Nov-12 19:32:53

I should add that my average weight is bang on 11 stone and one of the reasons I am happier now is that I actually fainted from low blood pressure caused by my diet when I was 9 stone.

I didn't realise that my very busy lifestyle meant I was frequently skipping meals and making myself ill.

doineedhelp Thu 22-Nov-12 19:45:03

Wowee, so many posts! Can't believe this...

Thanks for the kind posts, I wasn't phishing for anything, just genuinely interested if people look like me or not (most are waifs compared to me!) Like many of you I am post baby too so need to take that into account.

I blame my boobs and will maintain they make me 1 stone heavier grin

Thanks for all your replies...

tulip27 Thu 22-Nov-12 21:34:21

5ft 8 and 9st. I run long distances ,about 50 miles p/wk, body fat percentage is 16%, dress size 8 but jean size 10. If I go below 8 st 8 I look ill but above 9st 6 I start to get a 'tummy' and double chin. No boobs and wrists and ankles like a sparrow.

ivykaty44 Thu 22-Nov-12 21:36:43

Muscle definitely weighs more than fat

a pound of muscle weighs more than a pound of fat - how does that work?

PrannyHamster Thu 22-Nov-12 22:02:15

I'm 5ft 8 and 10 stone usually (sometimes slightly more). I can wear a 10 depending on the style but if I buy a 12 without trying it on I know it will definitely be big enough so I tend to do that. Waist about 27 inches so slim-ish without being thin I think.

Have been as big as 13 st before when I was in my late teens, and I was probably about a 16 then. It didn't look awful (I think), just "well-covered".

OP, I think 11st 8 is absolutely fine for your height (and probably in the normal BMI range), and how it looks is largely to do with your shape/frame/musculature/etc. No need to worry! smile

5'8 and usually about 13 stone, and I'm a size 14. Currently 35 weeks pregnant and quite a bit heavier sad

louwn Thu 22-Nov-12 23:22:30

9st 3, size 8-10. Just lost half a stone and lots of my size 10 clothes feel loose now. 9st is my goal weight.

LDNmummy Thu 22-Nov-12 23:36:44

I'm the exact same body type as you shandy

Interesting thread simply because I didn't think so many posters would be this height. In RL I hardly ever meet other women my height or taller. Of course it happens, just not often.

chickydoo Thu 22-Nov-12 23:47:14

5'7.5" ( that .5 very important
8 stone 7lbs
Age 45

lljkk Fri 23-Nov-12 07:30:43

I would start looking too thin if I were as light as Chickydoo.

gnocci Fri 23-Nov-12 08:01:54

Ivy - muscle DOES weigh more than fat but of course a pound of each weighs the same. It always irritates me when people pull others up on that. Things can weigh more than other things you know.

Would you deny 6 square inches of iron weighed more than 6 square inches of cheese??

RuleBritannia Fri 23-Nov-12 08:06:08

The OP's BMI is 24.6 so comes under the 'healthy' weight group.

amyboo Fri 23-Nov-12 08:07:18

I'm 5'7" and when I'm not 18 weeks pregnant I weigh around 11st 4lb. I usually fit quite happily into a size 12, sometimes have to get a 14 in trousers/skirts, depending on the brand. I honestly can't remember the last time I weighed under 11st - not since I was aout 18!

CuriosityCola Fri 23-Nov-12 08:10:15

I'm 5"9 and weigh just under 10 stone. I have a very small frame no boobs. Your weight sounds fine.

KinkyDorito Fri 23-Nov-12 08:11:54

I'm 5' 9'' and weigh 13st 7lbs at the moment. Am comfy 16 (Just lost 2st).

My target weight is 10st 10lbs which would make me a 12, but I'm not sure if this is a bit unrealistic for me now. If I could be 11st 7lbs or thereabouts it would be fine and I should look reasonably slim apart from giant flapping belly sad

CuriosityCola Fri 23-Nov-12 08:15:20

doineedhelp my weight + your boobs = your weight! Your theory is correct grin

I wonder if those of us who are on the heavier end but around about the 14/16 mark all have massive boobs? I'm a 32hh which accounts for a good few pounds (having previously had a reduction, I know!).

mewkins Fri 23-Nov-12 08:56:54

I weigh just under 9st and a size 8-10. Been the same weight for years regardless of exercise (or lack of).

shrimponastick Fri 23-Nov-12 08:59:11

I don't have massive boobs. I do have the legs of a turnip picking peasant woman though. Sturdy!!!

doineedhelp Fri 23-Nov-12 09:27:31

curiosity I knew I was right, thanks wink

shrimp thank you, that did make me titter!

Whitamakafullo Fri 23-Nov-12 09:30:38

I'm 5ft 9 and 12 stone 3. I take a 12-14 in clothes, and yes I have boobs AND sturdy legs wink

Trills Fri 23-Nov-12 09:37:33

What you see from these threads is that people who are a similar size often weigh quite different amounts.

willyoulistentome Fri 23-Nov-12 09:46:22

I'm 45. 5'8 and I weigh 12 stone-ish. I also feel the hugest I have ever been and I would love to lose a couple of stone and get back to where I was 10 years ago pre-kids, when I lived a very active lifestyle (Did DIY livery and rode my horse every night after work and loads at weekends) I HATE my body these days. I hate wearing summer clothes, cos they show too much of me. i hate my lack of waist. I have my huge arse and fat thighs. I wear big baggy fleeces and jeans almost all the time, and big long cardies and wide leg troos for work.

However, I also HATE getting hot and sweaty and out of breath, and work FT with 2 kids so time and desire to exercise and do something about it are absent, I also LOVE food - one of my few pleasures - so I am basically doomed!

BikeRunSki Fri 23-Nov-12 10:10:01

I'm 5'8" and two months ago 1 was 14 stone 7lbs. I joined Slimming World at the end of Sept and I am now 13 stone 2. I am back in a size 14. I am aiming for 12 stone. This sounds huge compared to some of the 5'8"ers on this thread! It is the top of healthy range for our height. The doctor who did my medical which made me realise that i really did need to loose weight measured a lot of wrist/hip /shoulder type distances/circumferences one a told me that I had about the biggest skeleton you'd get for my height. I am very muscly and at 11 stone I am pointy honey and my size 8.5 feet look like flippers!

ivykaty44 Fri 23-Nov-12 12:29:49

gnocci You may not like the question - but you didn't answer it either.

Muscle maybe denser than other materials but it will always weight the same pound for pound.

Trills Fri 23-Nov-12 12:47:54

Of course a pound of anything weighs the same as a pound of anything else - that's what a pound is, a measurement of weight. Nobody would ever dispute that a pound of something weighs the same as a pound of something else. If you think that anyone is saying otherwise you are accusing them of being incredibly dense.

When people say "muscle weighs more than fat" they mean for the same volume.

The same way when people say "lead weighs more than feathers" or "sugar weighs more than flour" they mean by volume.

Whenever anyone says that anything weighs more than anything else they mean that for a thing of the same size, one weighs more.

Trills Fri 23-Nov-12 12:49:01

(yes, I know, mass rather than weight, gravity blah blah blah)

gnocci Fri 23-Nov-12 13:34:20

Seriously ivy no one is that thick.

Exactly trills

lljkk Fri 23-Nov-12 13:58:12

I don't care how fat you may still feel, anyone who has recently lost 2+ stone deserves a standing ovation. That's a LOT, Well done!

dontcallmehon Fri 23-Nov-12 14:34:18

I'm 5 foot 7 and weigh 9 stone 3 ish. I feel quite slim at this weight.

GrownupGoth Fri 23-Nov-12 20:55:32

5 foot 8. I weigh 11 stone six. I am very very curvy (34G boobs, coathanger hips). I was 15 stone 10 just under two years ago.

I still feel fat.

DottyDot Sat 24-Nov-12 08:40:03

See having lost about 32lbs, I feel great with my 14 stone and people who know me say how skinny I look (arf!). Mind you my frame itself is big - I've got size 10 feet, massive hands, very broad shoulders, and am bloody 34GG, so most of the rest of me seems slightly smaller in comparison..!

Would like to see if I can get in the 13s though - unknown territory for me since I was a teenager... grin
