About to buy myself some new knee high boots
Liking these

and fancy wearing skirts and boots.
Anyone seen any nice winter skirts out there? Im not normally a skirt kinda gal so this is kinda out of my comfort zone. Thinking a cord and a denim skirt.

addictedisback Sat 06-Oct-12 06:37:17

Its mostly dresses at the moment. I love skirts but am yet to find a nice one this season (or last to be fair!)

Stevie77 Sat 06-Oct-12 07:31:04

Not many winter skirts out there at the moment, I've been looking too sad

fedupofnamechanging Sat 06-Oct-12 07:46:37

Fatface have a very nice cord skirt (knee length with buttons down the front). Think it comes in blue and red. Also they have a denim skirt, which is similar.

fedupofnamechanging Sat 06-Oct-12 07:47:38

Try gap for skirts

BikeRunSki Sat 06-Oct-12 07:54:25

I've hunted high and low for my perfect denim skirt this autumn and found it at Weird Fish. Try Ness, Mistral and Boden too for cord skirts.

Olivermoliver Sat 06-Oct-12 08:30:34

Dare I say it but m and s Indigo have a really nice lighter blue cord skirt!

pigleychez Sat 06-Oct-12 10:36:01

Thanks for the suggestions. smile

Just returned from Next with my brown boots and a lovely knee length Black cord skirt.
Still after a Denim one too so will have a look at the places suggested.

BikeRunSki Sat 06-Oct-12 17:21:43

This is where you can get knee length denim skirts this season. Believe me, I have hunted to the point of obsession:

Boden - £45 - zip to short to get on without a lot of wriggling.
Tresspass - £11 in clearance - even XL tooa small and I'm only a 14!
Crew Clothing - £60 - too short
Fat face - don't want buttons down front
Debenhams -£35, only on line - fake pockets! I need real pockets!
Weird Fish - perfect, £40. Right length, colour, stretchiness, fit, price. Have had it 4 days and been wearing it for 3 of them!

fedupofnamechanging Sat 06-Oct-12 18:10:32

You really have hunted for your perfect skirt, Bike. You've inspired me to take a look at Weird Fish!

Floridagirl Sat 06-Oct-12 18:29:44

You made the Wierd Fish denim skirt sound like my holy grail there Bike so much so that I just went and bought it!
And for anyone else that likes the sound of it, it appears to be reduced until Sunday, was only £29....

Stevie77 Sat 06-Oct-12 20:06:59

karmabeliever that blue one is exactly what I've been looking for! (Although I'm now thinking maybe the tan would look nicer with the tweed jacket I'm coveting)

IwishIwasmoreorganised Sat 06-Oct-12 20:11:56

What are you, wearing with your holy grail of skirts bike?

I'm like op - I'd like to wear skirts more often but they're not quite in my comfort zone!

BikeRunSki Sat 06-Oct-12 20:12:04

Bugger! Ah well £11 is a small price to pay for 4 extra days of skirt perfection.

fedupofnamechanging Sun 07-Oct-12 07:59:53

You could buy another one Bike, while it's in the sale - save you having to look again, when you've worn the first one to death!

Stevie, glad you have found what you wanted. I rather like the berry one, but think I will wait until there is a sale. I just bought the Ingrid twist dress for £20 instead of £45 and I know it will bug me if i pay full price for the skirt, then find it on sale in a few weeks!

Dollydowser Mon 08-Oct-12 11:25:44

Cana you tell me how the Wierdfish sizing is? Does it come up big/small, similar to White Stuff?

MorrisZapp Mon 08-Oct-12 11:30:32

My name is MorrisZapp and I am addicted to purchasing denim skirts.

I mostly get mine on eBay. I've had some really good unbranded ones over the years, plus various Fat Face etc.

I notice FF sizing seems to have changed lately. It was always v generous, now not so much. Either that or I'm in Malteser binge denial.

MorrisZapp Mon 08-Oct-12 11:31:24

Linky to Weird Fish skirt, pretty please?

MorrisZapp Mon 08-Oct-12 11:35:48

Bike and Florida... don't go to Weird Fish today. All skirts half price!!

Dollydowser Mon 08-Oct-12 11:40:45
MorrisZapp Mon 08-Oct-12 11:44:45

Thanks dolly! Half price, my ordering finger is itching smile

FlatscreenGoat Mon 08-Oct-12 11:53:20

Is that weird fish skirt really A-line?? I fancied a more fitted one I think

Lozislovely Mon 08-Oct-12 12:46:01

Just ordered the denim and the velvet skirt! Thanks Dolly grin

Dollydowser Mon 08-Oct-12 16:42:33

You're welcome. I didn't order the denim, it has a front zip-no good fot me. Anyone seen a knee length denim with side zip, maybe slightly less A line than the Wierdfish one? Or any winter skirts without a front zip. Like Stevie says, not many winter skirts about.

I'm a skirt person, so on the hunt for new winter styles.

I currently like these:

Have tried this in store and it is longer than on model. Comes to about an inch above the knee, so really good for winter. Nice quality too.

I also have a lovely cord mini from H&M which isn't online now, but still in stores.

pigleychez Mon 08-Oct-12 21:26:11

ohh liking the weirdfish denim one but going by measurements and it says I need a size up. Very reluctant to buy the next size up as its the start of a slippery slope!

Hmm.. Maybe I should go on that diet sad

BikeRunSki Mon 08-Oct-12 21:56:53

Nah, you don't need to size up. I ordered a 14 and a 16 as I thibkni am a 14, but actually still have a couple of stone of baby weight kicking about. Kept the 14, it fits fine. I haven't lost that much weight in two weeks of Slimming World.

pigleychez Mon 08-Oct-12 22:47:59

How long is the skirt? I am looking for about knee length as anything longer makes me look short and dumpy!
sad God im a stunner!

Stevie77 Mon 08-Oct-12 23:25:41

Like the Hobbs one (unsurprisingly) but faints at the price!

Dollydowser Tue 09-Oct-12 07:52:09

There are a few Hobbs skirts in a similar shape on their outlet page. I tried a teal cord one that shape, not flattering to me as accentuated my stomach.

Dollydowser Fri 12-Oct-12 10:36:36

My wierdfish skirt arrived this morning, very happy with it smile

Dollydowser Fri 12-Oct-12 10:45:15

I have got to take it up by 2 inches though, I am 5ft 3.

LulaPalooza Fri 12-Oct-12 10:53:00

Ooh I like this thread. I have just remembered that I already have a black cord skirt that's years old from Benetton... I think it's actually about 15 years old! Must dig it out.

How exciting, I've never reported a post before.

AgathaFusty Fri 12-Oct-12 14:02:56

Oh, you got in there first, dolly grin

A lovely articulate post too, johnsonbrown

addictedisback Fri 12-Oct-12 14:30:52

I think someone also needs to learn yhe diffrence between skirts and dresses!

I'm getting one of these:
Nicola Quilter

AgathaFusty Fri 12-Oct-12 15:13:48

Love her size descriptions HipHop grin

LulaPalooza Fri 12-Oct-12 17:37:16

What did johnsonbrown say? Can someone PM me?! am intrigued...

pigleychez Fri 12-Oct-12 18:15:31

I was wondering that too!?

I started a threat about boots and skirts... What could someone say on the subject to get removed? confused I didn't think skirt choices could be that controversial smile

AgathaFusty Fri 12-Oct-12 18:18:20

It was advertising - badly done advertising too grin

Dollydowser Fri 12-Oct-12 18:19:01

It wasn't anything exciting, just advertising their wares in broken English.

October1st Fri 12-Oct-12 18:25:30

I like the velvet skirt but the name colours! Mysterioso and purple potion? Is it a Halloween name change?

Dollydowser Fri 12-Oct-12 18:26:33

The purple potion isn't purple either, it is just like the photo, a dark pinky red berry colour.

TheRealAmyFarrahFowler Fri 12-Oct-12 18:33:46

Bought this one a couple of weeks ago...
I'm shocked at how bad it looks in these pics because it's actually lovely. Looks really nice with tall boots, uggs and ankle boots.
Tempted by this one now...

Dollydowser Fri 12-Oct-12 18:36:43

I can't get your Debenhams link to work for me, it just goes to the main page.

TheRealAmyFarrahFowler Fri 12-Oct-12 18:50:05

I just tried to re-do and it did the same.
I don't know how to fix it, sorry.
It's the mantaray light brown corduroy skirt.

Dollydowser Tue 16-Oct-12 12:55:45

Did anyone else get the purple Potion Wierdfish skirt, and if so what are you going to wear with it? None of my tops go, I wear a lot of berry colours but they all clash.

addictedisback Tue 16-Oct-12 14:58:19

i'm imagining a long sleeve polo neck black jumper would look quite nice with chunky tights and boots. But then my fashion sence has never been great so maybe someone else will be along to give better advice!
